Jonathan Alder Runs All Over Columbus Academy

The Columbus Metro Area alone is home to over 50 Division 1 and 2 football teams. However, there is plenty of good ball being played in the smaller divisions around town, and Jonathan Alder is one of them.

Jonathan Alder made a 45-minute trip from Plain City to Gahanna, to face off against Columbus Academy. Jonathan Alder bumped up to Division III, Region 11 this year, a more difficult path in recent years, but thanks to the departure of state football powerhouse, Bishop Watterson and a handful of others, things have opened up a bit.

Kilbourne Takes Over WoTown Showdown

The WoTown Showdown started with back-and-forth action, but Worthington Kilbourne took control in the second quarter and pulled away for a 52-20 victory over Thomas Worthington Friday night.

What to Watch For: Week Two

We hope the weeks don’t fly by this fast every week. It’s already week two in Central Ohio, and there’s plenty of action on the table with classic OCC rivalries, highly anticipated cross-division matchups, and a handful of premiere programs from around the state are paying visits as well. Here’s a look at where we’ll have our attention focused in week two.

Grove City Looks to Fend Off Westland One More Time

The South Western District has been one sided for far too long, but can Westland actually turn the tables? Last season, Westland fell to Grove City in a 45-41 shootout, in what many believed to be Westland’s best chance at knocking off Grove City—something the Cougars haven’t done in over 30 years. But we may not have seen the best of Westland quite yet.

Harvest Prep Comes Up Empty in Thursday Night Road Trip

Harvest Prep was one of two Central Ohio teams to open up the regular season last Thursday. While Fairbanks took the trip up to reigning Region 23 champion Colonel Crawford, it was Harvest Prep who captivated most of Columbus’ attention on opening night. The Warriors dropped to Division VI this offseason, and scheduled another D6 member in Versailles.

Bowling Green commit and Harvest Prep senior Collin Boff threw for 306 passing yards and a touchdown, while rushing for another, helping his team recover from an early 14-0 hole. But a goal-line stand by the Versailles defense with just over four minutes left proved to be the difference in a 21-18 loss.

This was Harvest Prep first of two consecutive matchups against Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) opponents. They’ll host perennial small-school powerhouse, Marion Local this week, hoping to avoid an 0-2 start. Their schedule shows no signs of letting up anytime soon, with Perkins and Bishop Watterson on the horizon as well.

East High Keeps Roaring in Matchup of Defending City League Champs

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a rare matchup of the defending Columbus City League North and South champs, East proved they have not lost a step. East has won at least a share of 3 of the last 4 CCS North titles, winning outright in 2025, while their opponent Walnut Ridge has won the last two CCS South titles. Both teams won a playoff game last season as well.

After a rollercoaster of the last two years, with coaches resigning and the loss of three All-Ohio award winners to graduation, including Central District Player of the Year, Marquis Lucas and receiver-athlete Lee’Sean Saunders, new Walnut Ridge head coach DeVante Collins knew it would be a tough matchup. The Scots had not lost a CCS game since 2023, riding a 17-game winning streak against both sides of the league entering the game.

After another busy and eventful offseason, we’ve officially made it to game week here in Central Ohio. Harvest Prep opens things up with a Thursday night road trip to Versailles, while everyone else is back in action this Friday.
