It is still impossible for people to come back there for safety reasons, but the russian plague doesn’t spread further in this direction. This was a hot month not only in terms of the weather but also in terms of political debates within Ukraine. Right in the middle of the war we had no minister of defense, no commander and big protests across the country. So far, it seems to turn out to the better, but it was a dangerous moment at the time.

As for the situation at the frontline, russians are maintaining their attacks but there is no significant movement. They try to use terror against civilians instead. Massive daily bombings with residential buildings, railway, post and hypermarkets as main targets.

According to the report, Russia caused Ukraine $195 billion in direct damage. Damages increased by 11% over the year. Housing, transport, energy are the most affected sectors. 14% of the housing stock was damaged or destroyed - this is more than three million households.

Total economic losses - $667 billion. These are not only destroyed buildings. These are stopped production, disrupted logistics, a collapse of trade. Industry and trade lost $233 billion.

Even if all the growth is directed to reconstruction, which is impossible, it is a drop in the bucket. The country cannot even finance current needs without external loans.

Without international financing and private investment, reconstruction is impossible.

How many years are needed for recovery? If we take the data from the RDNA5 report and the state budget for 2026, we can calculate three scenarios.

Positive. Sustainable peace, strong security guarantees, large-scale private investments, a full-fledged donor program. $40-50 billion per year. 12-15 years. But this requires conditions that do not exist today: the fastest possible end to the war, reliable security guarantees, sustainable peace.

Negative. This is what is happening now. The war continues, international support is under pressure. In four years, $20 billion has been spent on reconstruction – that’s $5 billion a year. At this rate, the $588 billion account will never be closed. Destruction is accumulating faster than repairs.

Inertia. The war is stopping, but security guarantees are weak, investors are cautious. The budget, donors, limited private capital provide $20-25 billion a year. That’s 25-30 years of reconstruction. A whole generation.

That’s why we’re working so hard with international partners. We’re talking about reconstruction not once, but now. We’re trying to pull pilot projects into the region – building housing for displaced people, restoring energy, medical infrastructure. Everything that can be preserved and rebuilt today – must be preserved and rebuilt. Without waiting for ideal conditions. Because they don’t exist in any scenario yet.

The demand of Ukrainians for peace is enormous. The closer to the front line, the stronger. Every day of war costs the country a lot.

The question is not whether Ukraine is ready to rebuild. The question is whether its partners are ready to work this distance. There is no answer yet.

This time, after analyzing that the Zircons are "passing" from the south, they hit with FOUR missiles at once! This means that two ground-based launchers launched a full salvo at once. But we are also good at analysis - there was a movement of forces and assets, so ALL FOUR ZIRCONS were shot down. "Good managers make good commanders" - I heard this phrase three times. The first time - from a battalion commander in the Donetsk region. The second time - from a senior sergeant of reconnaissance in the Zaporizhzhia direction. And the third time - near Kharkiv from a man who took 88th place on the Ukrainian Forbes list. All three were in business before the war - and all three were good commanders.

In the first year, the Ukrainian army tripled in size — and new people brought new competencies to the Armed Forces. No one had time to explain to them that “it can’t be done like this,” so they started creating things and processes from the category of “what if it could have been done like this?” Bureaucracy and clumsiness are considered the weak points of the army — so civilians did not hesitate to ignore this clumsiness. Grassroots initiative and horizontal connections suddenly burst into the army. All the things that Ukrainian society is traditionally strong in.

The army simply could not afford all these people before the war — at least on a salary basis. It was they who gave the Armed Forces the flexibility and adaptability that allowed us to survive. The criterion for a good commander was knowledge of his personnel. Because corporate logisticians and business owners, managers and lawyers, media people and engineers came to the army. The ability to adapt their civilian skills to military reality distinguished a front-line unit from an average one.

I remember when, at a makeshift medical center in the Donetsk region, where our wounded were resting, I came across a captured, bullet-riddled helmet. Judging by the scratched surface, it belonged to some SOBR member from Murmansk. I turned it over in my hands and thought that first they sent their cops to our country. Then their convicts. The best illustration of the fact that in 2022, a prison attacked us.

And today, our ordinary, extraordinary people are fighting this prison. Those who were not going to, did not plan, and did not prepare to become soldiers. Each of them will gladly take off their uniform when the time comes. And until it comes, these people are bringing it closer.

Before the full-scale invasion in our country, voices were heard that sold the idea of a purely professional army. One that consists only of specialists for whom war is a calling. These voices were wrong.

It is difficult to judge them for this, because for the past forty years, most wars on the planet have been clashes between regular armies and partisan resistance. Such wars usually claimed the status of “local” and “limited in time”. But our war is a clash of two full-fledged military machines. In which, moreover, the entire world-known nomenclature of weapons is used. The world has not seen anything like this for decades, and therefore the usual rules no longer apply here. We have to live in a world of adult challenges and adult choices.

Moreover, “adulthood” is not a question of age. “Adulthood” is a criterion of responsibility. Children tend to live with an external locus of control — attributing their successes or failures to external factors. Adults live with an internal locus of control — placing responsibility for the circumstances of their lives on themselves.

Ukrainian society is passing this test right now. It is more convenient for some to admit themselves to be small and helpless. Others have to pull for themselves — and “for that guy.” Some say that security is someone else’s business. Others hold the sky so that it doesn’t fall on the rest of us. There is no fundamental difference between those who are already in the army and those who are not yet. A special person, created for war, is reflected in your mirror every morning. Have you been waiting for the main moment in your life to prove yourself? Congratulations — that moment has come.

There is nothing more annoying than the phrase “I believe in victory.” Your faith is worthless if you do not bring this victory closer in any way. Identity is the sum of the events that have happened in your life. And if there was no war in your life — it is exclusively the space of your personal choice.

We have a wonderful company in the army. Right now, it is rewriting the rules of the game for this century. It is drawing a watershed between freedom and slavery. It is writing a history textbook and creating manuals on military affairs. You can always become a co-author.

I have been observing this since 2014. People do not evacuate until the last moment, do not leave their homes, and then it becomes too late...

Did everyone hear the interception?

I will quote a post by Sheikh Said Ismagilov, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a resident of Donetsk until 2014, one of the Muslim spiritual leaders of Ukraine:

"Ukrainian intelligence officers intercepted a conversation in which Colombian mercenaries order the killing of civilians.

In an intercepted conversation, one of the field commanders gives an order in Spanish to execute Ukrainian civilians:

“When there is fog, mist, so that they are not identified, let them eliminate all people who are enemies: on motorcycles, on bicycles, women and children, women and children.”

This is not news at all, mass executions of Ukrainians are their long-standing practice. What is surprising is not this, but the underestimation by our society of the enemy’s plans and the scale of these plans. If you think that in the event of defeat, they will simply change your passport and flag, then you are mistaken. No one will live as before. No one. Everyone who represents the elite of the nation (the real elite) - scientists, artists, intellectuals, journalists, clergy, military commanders, etc. will simply be executed. They will be tortured, shot, at best they will be sent to rot in Siberian camps. The flower of the nation - teachers, civil society leaders, cultural and sports figures, middle and lower-level officials and military personnel will be deported to sparsely populated regions. Those from the former military, police and other law enforcement agencies who agree to work for the occupier will be sent to conquer the Kremlin's new possessions, the most likely victim being Moldova, then the Baltic countries. Those from the Ukrainian population who remain will be gradually mobilized into the ranks of the enemy army. Everything Ukrainian will be banned, for attempting to possess and read Ukrainian books they will be given long prison terms, they will be accused of terrorism and ties to the Ukrainian underground. If you think that you will flee abroad, then 30 million will not flee abroad, because even from the occupied territories many did not have time to escape in 2022 due to various circumstances. Whatever you say, millions will remain under occupation.

And no one from the outside will influence anything. There were mass exterminations in Bucha, Kupyansk and other occupied cities. And what? The Russian government is not only not punished for this, it is returned to world politics and is again obedient. The US president applauds Putin on the red carpet on US soil, and the kidnapper of Ukrainian children from Lviv-Belova tells journalists how she did it. And nothing! Absolutely nothing! Mass murders and kidnappings of Ukrainian children have become not crimes, but commonplace. The Russians, with the assistance of Trump, Orban, Fico, Xi, Modi and other politicians, legalized the Russian criminal regime, returned it to world politics and changed international norms. These changes are unspoken, but now it is possible to kill and kidnap every day, and nothing will happen for this. Ukrainians, no one will stand up for us, understand this - no one! The world community knows that we can be killed with impunity, it has become commonplace. And the Putin regime understands this perfectly well, that is exactly what they sought - to change the world rules and make crimes statistics, not horror. Therefore, it is incomprehensible why our civilian population behaves as if there is no war for them, as if mass burials are not planned for all of us, for some, or deportation trains to Siberia for others. The civilian population has moved away from the fear of 2022, and thinks that everything is over, it is okay not to join in protecting their survival. Not even the defense of the country, as it turned out, this is too complex a semantic construct for some of our fellow citizens, but for their own survival. After all, we are talking about your own survival, and not just about saving the country. When they ask me: what has this country given me? I answer - defenders, thanks to whom you are still alive.
