In real life, staying close largely meant being physically close. Children grew up around their families, often in the same home or neighborhood, and moving away was not as common. If a child left for another city, staying in touch meant waiting for a letter, making an occasional phone call or meeting during visits. Parents could not instantly know where their children were or how their day was going. Distance created a real gap in everyday life. The physical presence of family was therefore an important part of feeling connected. In that world, the thread was a simple but powerful symbol of keeping someone within reach.

In virtual life, that thread has been replaced by technology. Children leave home for college, jobs and opportunities in different cities or even different countries, but distance does not necessarily mean disconnection anymore. For example, a student studying hundreds of kilometers away can still call home while having dinner, send a quick “Reached safely” message after getting back to their room, or video call their parents on a Sunday. Parents can see their child’s face, hear about their day and even be part of small moments that they would otherwise miss. A family may be physically separated, but a smartphone can make them feel present in each other’s everyday lives. Technology has made staying connected less about being in the same place and more about making the effort to remain part of each other’s lives.

But perhaps the most beautiful part of this transformation is the change in trust. Earlier, parents tried to keep their children close. Today, parents trust their children enough to let them go. A parent who once worried about their child wandering too far may now watch them leave for another city or even another country to build a life of their own. They may not be able to see them every day, but they trust them to be responsible. And that trust is a two-way responsibility. Children have the freedom to go far, but they also have the responsibility to take care of themselves, communicate with their parents and make choices that honor the trust placed in them.

Maybe that is what digital transformation really means to me. It is not only about smartphones, faster communication or new technology. It is about how technology has changed the way we experience relationships. The rope is no longer needed to keep children close. Today, trust lets them go, and technology helps them stay connected.

The thread may have changed, the distance may have increased, but the connection remains.

In real life, manufacturing was much more dependent on people doing things manually. Orders were written down, stocks were counted on hand, and communications happened mostly on phone calls or face-to-face conversations. If a supplier was late, you called them. If you wanted to know where the shipment was, you called the transporter. There was no screen showing you exactly where your goods were at the moment.

But I don’t think it’s fair to say that manufacturing and logistics were inefficient at that time. People just worked differently, suppose an experienced worker would know when a machine was not working normally. A supplier knew exactly how much material a regular customer usually needed. A driver knew the routes and the people along the way. A lot of things depended on relationships and experience.

In many ways, it was the theory of just getting things done. You had a problem, you figured it out. There might not have been a sophisticated system behind it, but somehow the work moved forward.

In virtual life, manufacturing and logistics look very different. We have data for almost everything. Businesses can track inventory, monitor machines, forecast demand and follow shipments in real time. Warehouses are becoming more automated, AI is helping companies predict what customers might want, and IoT devices can provide information about machines while they are running.

The biggest difference, for me, is visibility. Earlier, you often found out that something had gone wrong after it happened. Now, businesses can sometimes see the problem coming. A delay can be tracked, low inventory can trigger an alert and customer demand can be studied before production decisions are made.

A good example of this is Cognizant OnePlant. It is a framework designed to connect factory floor operations with IT systems and business processes, so that information from different parts of the plant can come together rather than remain in separate data silos. What I found interesting about this was how it is not suddenly replacing the entire factory with new technology. Cognizant describes it as a gradual approach where manufacturers can integrate different parts of their existing operations and move towards smarter manufacturing.

Maybe this is what digital transformation is really about. It’s not about throwing everything away from the past. It means taking the old ways of doing things, adding better tools, and finding a smarter way forward. And just like Adi Dada is figuring out his business one jacket at a time, manufacturing and logistics are doing much the same thing: adapting, learning and quite simply, getting things done.

In real life, I still remember watching local businesses advertise through newspaper inserts, posters, and simple TV commercials. The process was slow and expensive. Agencies spent days creating a single campaign, and once an ad was released, there was very little room for experimentation. Every version required new design work, new approvals, and additional costs.

Back then, the challenge was reaching people.

Today, the challenge is standing out consistently across multiple platforms.

In virtual life, Digital transformation has completely changed the advertising industry. Brands no longer create one ad for one medium. They create content for:

• Instagram

• Google Ads

• WhatsApp campaigns

• LinkedIn

• YouTube

• Meta ads

The volume of content required has increased exponentially. AI tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, and Canva AI have made content generation faster, but while using these tools during my internship and coursework, I noticed one recurring problem:

The ads sounded generic. They could generate copy, but they didn’t truly understand a brand’s personality, tone, audience, or identity.

The Idea That Came From This Observation and that realization became the foundation of BrandAI Studio, the SaaS product I am planning to develop for our MDT project.

Imagine if every AI-generated advertisement sounded exactly like the brand itself.

Instead of repeatedly prompting an AI with “make it youthful,” “make it premium,” or “make it playful,” a brand would complete a one-time onboarding process. The system would learn:

• Brand tone of voice

• Target audience

• Preferred vocabulary

• Visual style

• Campaign objectives

After that, BrandAI Studio would generate platform-specific creatives for Instagram, Google, WhatsApp, and other channels while maintaining brand consistency.

One campaign that particularly caught my attention was Coca-Cola's Masterpiece advertisement. Instead of relying solely on traditional production methods, the brand combined generative AI with human creativity to create a visually immersive campaign. It made me realize that the future of advertising isn't just about creating content faster, it's about using AI to amplify creativity while preserving a brand's unique identity. This insight became one of the inspirations behind my SaaS concept, BrandAI Studio.

Why I Chose Advertising Agencies as My Target Segment

Initially, I thought about targeting individual brands. However, during discussions and reflecting on industry trends, I realized that advertising agencies face this problem on a much larger scale.

Agencies manage multiple clients simultaneously. Each client has a different voice, audience, and campaign objective. Teams spend significant time:

• Rewriting AI-generated copy

• Adjusting tone

• Ensuring brand consistency

• Creating multiple versions for testing

BrandAI Studio aims to reduce that effort by acting as a brand-trained AI assistant for agencies.

The Feature I Am Most Excited About

One feature I particularly want to include is built-in A/B testing recommendations.

Instead of generating ten ad versions and leaving marketers to guess which one might work, the system would analyze past performance patterns and suggest the version with the highest potential engagement.

For agencies handling dozens of campaigns every month, this could save both time and creative effort.

My Personal Learning from This Project

Working on this idea has made me realize that digital transformation is not just about replacing humans with technology. The most powerful transformations happen when technology amplifies human creativity rather than replacing it.

Advertising has evolved from static newspaper ads to intelligent, AI-assisted campaigns that can adapt in real time. As an MBA student studying Marketing and Digital Transformation, I find it fascinating that a problem as simple as “Why doesn’t this AI-generated ad sound like the brand?” can become the starting point for a functional SaaS product.

That is exactly what BrandAI Studio represents for me, not just an academic project, but a practical solution inspired by the changing realities of modern advertising.

While the juniors were busy creating memories, I was also getting a glimpse of everything happening behind the scenes through my friends. Every day, they shared stories of endless meetings, last-minute changes, sleepless nights, and the countless hours they were putting in to ensure everything went smoothly. Watching their dedication made me realize that an event as grand as Freshers’ Week isn’t just about what happens on stage, it’s about the passion and hard work of the people working tirelessly behind the curtains.

This year’s theme, Arkedia, transformed the campus into a celebration of gaming. Everywhere I looked, there were references to games, vibrant decorations, and activities inspired by the gaming world. As someone who has witnessed how rapidly technology is evolving, Arkedia made me think beyond the festivities. It made me reflect on how gaming itself has undergone one of the most remarkable digital transformations of our time.

In real life, games were simple, pixelated, and often limited to arcade machines or basic home consoles. Classics like Pac-Man, Tetris, and Super Mario Bros. became iconic not because of breathtaking graphics but because of their creativity and engaging gameplay. Multiplayer gaming meant sitting beside your friends with an extra controller, and saving your progress depended on memory cards or passwords. Once a game was released, there was very little room for updates or expansion.

In virtual life, gaming has evolved into an entirely different experience. Thanks to digital transformation, it has become one of the world’s most innovative and technology-driven industries. High-speed internet has connected millions of players across the globe, allowing them to compete and collaborate in real time. Cloud gaming has made expensive hardware less of a necessity by enabling users to stream games directly from the cloud.

Artificial Intelligence has made games smarter and more immersive than ever before. Non-player characters (NPCs) can now adapt to player behavior, creating personalized experiences. Machine learning helps developers understand player preferences and continuously improve gameplay, while recommendation systems introduce players to games they are most likely to enjoy.

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) have taken gaming beyond traditional screens. Players can now step inside virtual worlds or blend digital experiences with reality, making games more interactive than ever before. Pokémon GO demonstrated how AR could transform everyday surroundings into a gaming environment, while VR has made immersive storytelling a reality.

The business side of gaming has also transformed significantly. Physical discs have largely been replaced by digital downloads and subscription services. Free-to-play games supported by in-game purchases have become one of the industry’s most successful business models. Competitive gaming, or esports, has grown into a billion-dollar industry, creating careers for professional players, coaches, streamers, and content creators. Gaming today is no longer just about playing, it has become a global form of entertainment and a thriving digital ecosystem.

Perhaps the most remarkable transformation is how gaming has become deeply social. It is no longer just about completing levels or achieving high scores. Modern games bring together people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds, allowing them to build friendships, collaborate, and create communities. Gaming has become a shared experience that connects people in ways unimaginable just a few decades ago.

As I reflected on this year’s Freshers’ Week, I also found myself thinking about my own experience from a year ago. Back then, I was one of the juniors trying to navigate a completely new environment, and two people made that journey much easier: our clan mentors, Raghav and Tharini.

At the time, I didn’t fully realize the effort they were putting in. They weren’t just guiding us through activities or explaining the schedule, they were making sure every fresher felt welcomed, comfortable, and included. They encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones, participate wholeheartedly, and most importantly, connect with one another. Looking back now, I truly understand how much thought, patience, and care go into mentoring an entire clan.

The greatest testament to the wonderful job they did is my own batch. Many of the people I met during those first few days are still among my closest friends today. The conversations that started during icebreakers, the laughter shared during clan activities, and the memories created throughout Freshers’ Week laid the foundation for friendships that continue to make MBA life so special.

So, a heartfelt thank you to Raghav and Tharini. Watching Freshers’ Week from the other side this year made me appreciate your efforts even more. You gave us more than just an enjoyable week, you gave us a sense of belonging when we needed it the most. That is something we continue to carry with us even today.

Looking back, I realized Arkedia represented much more than just the theme of this year’s Freshers’ Week. It celebrated an industry that perfectly showcases the power of digital transformation while also reminding me that behind every memorable experience, whether it’s an immersive video game or a successful college event, there are people whose creativity, teamwork, and dedication make it all possible.

As seniors, we now have the privilege of watching a new batch begin the same journey we started a year ago. I hope that, just like us, they leave Freshers’ Week not only with fun memories but also with friendships that last long after the events are over. You didn’t just read them, you lived them. There was patience in how emotions unfolded, how characters revealed themselves. Nothing was rushed; everything had space to breathe.

Reading Sita: Warrior of Mithila felt like a bridge between past and present. It took a story we’ve all grown up hearing and reimagined it through a stronger, more assertive lens. Sita wasn’t just a figure of sacrifice, she was strategic, resilient, and human. That reinterpretation is what defines storytelling today: not just retelling stories, but reframing them to resonate with the present.

On the other hand, Death: An Inside Story gave me a completely different experience. It wasn’t a story in the traditional sense, no dramatic arcs or cliffhangers, but it still held me. It used storytelling in a quieter, more introspective way, turning something as heavy as death into a conversation rather than a fear. It made me realize that modern storytelling doesn’t always need speed or spectacle; sometimes, it just needs honesty.

In virtual life, it’s faster, more visual, and often designed to capture attention instantly. Stories live on screens, through reels, short videos, and quick captions. The first few seconds matter more than ever, and algorithms quietly decide what gets seen.

And then, somewhere between these books and today’s fast-paced content, I found myself creating stories, not just consuming them. During my internship at Trice, storytelling stopped being abstract and became something real, something lived. It wasn’t about fictional characters anymore, it was about real people. Vendors. Small business owners. Individuals with stories that didn’t need exaggeration, just attention.

I remember conversations with sellers that felt like pages from a book, except these weren’t written, they were lived every single day. A Maggie stall owner working from morning till night, handling everything alone. A small vendor trying to stay relevant in a world that rewards visibility more than effort. These weren’t just “data points” or “user insights”, they were stories waiting to be told.

And that’s when it clicked for me: modern storytelling isn’t just about content, it’s about context. It’s about taking something real and presenting it in a way that people can feel in seconds. At Trice, storytelling became strategy. A short video, a caption, a message, each one had a purpose: to make someone pause, relate, and maybe even act.

A simple and very relatable example of modern storytelling is a 30–60 second Instagram Reel that tells a complete, emotional story.

Think of a short video showing a street food vendor. It starts with a quick hook: “He works 16 hours a day…” Then, within seconds, you see clips of him cooking, serving customers, maybe smiling despite exhaustion. A soft background track plays. Text overlays reveal small details of his past, his struggles, maybe a dream he still holds onto. And it ends with a quiet, emotional line like: “Not every story gets noticed.”

In under a minute, you’ve:

• Met a character

• Understood their struggle

• Felt something real

That’s modern storytelling.

But despite all this, the essence hasn’t changed. Both these books reminded me that what truly stays is not the format, but the feeling. Whether it’s a reimagined mythological character or a philosophical take on life and death, stories that connect on a human level don’t fade easily.

I find myself somewhere in between these two worlds. I still crave the slow, immersive depth of traditional storytelling, the kind that lets you sit with thoughts and emotions. But I also understand the power of modern storytelling, the ability to communicate something meaningful in just a few moments.

Because at the end of the day, whether a story makes you question, feel, or simply pause, it’s doing what it’s always meant to do: helping you understand life a little better.

What struck me more was the contrast I’m seeing even today. One of my cousins, who’s actually younger than me, is getting married. And suddenly, it felt like I was witnessing two timelines at once. My mom’s world, where early marriages were normal and simple, and today’s world, where weddings have become something much bigger, more planned, and undeniably more digital.

That one conversation made me realize, weddings haven’t just changed, they’ve transformed.

Most importantly, weddings were about family and tradition. There was less pressure to make it “perfect” and more emphasis on making it meaningful.

Even rituals are now aesthetic experiences, fairy lights, coordinated outfits, and choreographed entries. Weddings are no longer just ceremonies; they are content.

But beyond the visuals, there’s a deeper shift. Weddings today are more personalized. Couples want their story, their personality, and their choices reflected in every detail.

What Really Changed?

The difference isn’t just about technology, it’s about perspective.

• Then, weddings were about community. Now, they are about identity.

• Then, memories were lived. Now, they are also documented.

• Then, simplicity defined celebrations. Now, creativity and customization do.

And yet, somewhere in between all this change, the core remains the same, the coming together of two people and two families.

A friend of mine once told me how tired she was of the whole idea of dating. Not because she didn’t believe in love, but because everything around it started to feel repetitive. One evening, almost casually, she decided to give online dating another try. No expectations this time. No pressure to find “the one.” Just openness.

Instead of curated profiles or filtered images, you experienced people in their most natural form, how they spoke, reacted, handled situations, and treated others. Attraction wasn’t immediate; it was something that grew over time through repeated, real interactions.

At the same time, dating was also influenced by social structures and expectations. Family opinions, cultural norms, and societal compatibility played a significant role in shaping relationships. While this often provided stability and long-term orientation, it also meant that choices were limited. You were, in many ways, choosing from the world around you, not beyond it.

So while there was clarity, intention, and emotional depth, there was also a lack of exposure and flexibility. Dating was less about exploration and more about finding alignment within a defined circle.

In virtual life, dating has evolved into something far more layered than just swiping or texting, it’s becoming a blend of digital discovery and real-world experience. While connections may still begin online, the focus is gradually shifting toward how people interact in real life. A strong example of this is the collaboration between HYROX India and The League, where dating is no longer limited to profiles but extended into shared physical experiences.

In such spaces, people meet while doing something meaningful, like participating in a fitness event, where conversations happen naturally, without the pressure of impressing through a screen. This allows individuals to connect through energy, effort, and presence, rather than just curated images or bios. It brings back authenticity, where attraction is built on how someone shows up in real situations.

At the same time, the abundance of choices and speed of interactions still define modern dating, often making it overwhelming or surface-level. You can meet multiple people in a short span, but building something meaningful still requires intention and effort. That’s why this new shift toward experiential dating is important, it attempts to solve the biggest gap digital platforms created: the gap between matching and truly connecting.

This phase of dating reflects a balance. Technology helps you discover people beyond your immediate world, but real-life interactions help you understand them. It’s no longer just about liking someone’s profile, it’s about experiencing compatibility in action, in moments that are unfiltered, spontaneous, and real.

And in the end, no matter how digital dating becomes, a real connection will always come down to how two people feel in the same moment.

Yet something unexpected caught my attention. Right next to his weighing scale was a small QR code. Customers walked in, bought vegetables, and paid him digitally, some even placed repeat orders through WhatsApp.

In that moment, I realized something powerful:
The Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) is no longer disconnected.
It is quietly becoming digital.

This is exactly where platforms like Trice operate, bridging the gap between local vendors and digital convenience, without forcing complexity (no apps, just WhatsApp).

Understanding BoP Through Experience

Traditionally, BoP markets were seen as:

• Hard to access

• Low-income and low-value

• Dependent on informal systems

But what I witnessed on the ground was different.
The change is not theoretical, it’s happening in real time.

In real life, the Bottom of the Pyramid functioned in a largely cash-dependent and uncertain environment, where small vendors relied heavily on daily footfall and personal judgment to run their businesses. There was no access to formal banking systems, and transactions were informal, making it difficult to track income or build financial credibility. Demand forecasting was almost non-existent, leading to frequent losses due to overstocking or missed sales opportunities. Customer relationships were transactional and short-term, with no tools for retention or engagement. Overall, the ecosystem was fragmented, reactive, and driven by survival rather than growth.

In virtual life, the BoP ecosystem is undergoing a significant digital transformation, becoming more connected, efficient, and opportunity-driven. With the widespread adoption of UPI, even small vendors can accept instant digital payments and maintain basic transaction records. Applications like WhatsApp have evolved into powerful business tools, enabling vendors to take orders, communicate with customers, and build repeat demand. This shift has improved visibility into customer behavior, allowing for better inventory planning and more stable income streams. What was once a purely survival-based system is now gradually evolving into a more structured, data-enabled ecosystem where vendors are emerging as micro-entrepreneurs.

The real transformation of the BoP isn’t in technology itself, but in how seamlessly it fits into everyday lives, turning survival into opportunity.

But the intelligence behind these systems was entirely human. Decision-making, creativity, and strategy were deeply dependent on human judgment. Technology just followed instructions, it didn’t create them.

For example:

• Data existed, but interpreting it required significant human effort.

Just like how earlier, event management would have required extensive manual coordination. Today, digital tools can automate registrations, send reminders, and track engagement. But when something unexpected happens, a speaker delay, a confused participant, or a last-minute change, it is human judgment that steps in.

Despite all advancements, one truth remains unchanged: AI lacks context, emotion, and ethical reasoning.

And honestly, that title came with a reality check.

My days started at 6 in the morning with coordination meetings, discussing what was pending, what had gone wrong, and what needed to be redone, followed by back-to-back classes. By the time the academic day ended, the fest day began again at 6 in the evening. That’s when the real hustle kicked in. Sitting on the floor with chart papers spread around us, sketching, painting, redesigning creatives, rejecting ideas that didn’t feel right, coming up with themes, and then scrapping them again because someone had a better suggestion.

What made it even more challenging was working with people from completely different backgrounds. Some were creatively inclined, some were extremely process-driven, some wanted things to look perfect, while others wanted things done fast. Aligning all these perspectives into one single output that represented the fest was exhausting but also incredibly eye-opening.

Somewhere between paint-stained hands and WhatsApp groups buzzing with last-minute changes, I realized something:

College fests today are not what they used to be.

In real life, college fests felt more like a break from routine than a responsibility. They were informal, spontaneous, and largely driven by excitement rather than execution. Planning meant deciding the sequence of performances, arranging classrooms for events, putting up handmade posters on notice boards, and spreading the word through friends or classroom announcements. There was a rawness to everything, mismatched decorations, last-minute improvisations, and a very “we’ll figure it out” approach.
