Compersion is the feeling of joy we can experience when someone we love is romantically or sexually happy — even when we’re not the reason for that happiness.

Because throughout almost our entire romantic education, we learn words for what happens when love scares us.

Jealousy.

Possessiveness.

Betrayal.

Cheating.

Their safe place.
