A few months ago, I packed my life in California and moved my family across the country to Florida.

We had been living in California for almost 20 years… Needless to say we had made many friends, many memories everywhere. The beach, the canyons, the hikes, the parties, the events at the center. We had our community and were pretty comfortable on a daily basis.

Then we decided to change everything.

New house. New neighborhood. New people. New schools. New weather. New rhythms.

We went from a land of earth and fire to a land of water and air.

Some of it felt challenging but our strength was to let go of our previous life in CA so we could be open to all the new things we were discovering. And see them under the light of new opportunities rather than “not like we were used to”.

So to be honest we are a lot more appreciative and grateful for both what is a new experience here and what was our experience back in CA.

That made me think about something much bigger than moving.

Maybe growth is not only about what we learn or gain.

Maybe growth is also about what we are willing to leave behind.

“The more we let go, the more room we make to grow.”

The strange space between two lives

There is a moment in almost every important transition when we find ourselves between two worlds.

The old one is gone, the new one has not fully arrived.

Changing career for instance. You probably know how it feels. Leaving an industry you knew pretty well. You were connected with a lot of people, had a name maybe… You knew how to navigate your boat.

Then…. you leave. And it becomes kind of a weird time.
“what do you do?” “oh well, Im starting a new business” or “Im taking some time off, Im not really sure” or “it’s complicated…”
It can feel strange because we tend to let our work define your identity.
And when we transition, it’s like we are looking for what is the new identity we want to embrace.

But that’s just one example.

Becoming a parent is another strong one. Or ending a relashionship, selling a company, loosing someone.

Starting over. Going on a long journey.

The old is gone (so we think) and the new isn’t fully formed.

Limen, the threshold. You have left one room but haven’t entered the next one yet.

I love that image.

Anthropologists have studied this space for more than a century. And the elders have used it for hundreds or thousands of years.

But in our western society we tend to spend so much time of our lives “avoiding” the threshold.

Because we spend so much of our lives trying to avoid the threshold.

Because the unknown feels uncomfortable.
Because we want to know what comes next.

But transformation often happens precisely in the place where we don’t.

“The old door has closed. The new one has not opened. Stay there for a moment.”

Why we love what is familiar

There is a reason change is uncomfortable.

Our brain likes to predict things. Like a survival mechanism.

It constantly tries to understand what will happen next so our body can respond appropriately. Familiar environments, routines and relationships require less uncertainty.

This is useful. We need stability.

We need roots.

We need places where our nervous system can rest.

But comfort can slowly become confinement without us realizing it.

We take the same road to work or to do the groceries. We hangout with the same people. We read or watch things that confirm what we believe is true… The algorithm feeds it.

We repeat the same routines so eventually we don’t even have to think about it anymore. We stop seeing.

We stop being present.

Then something changes.

We travel, we move, we change careers, we enter another culture.

And now we can see again. We have to pay attention. We step into the beginner mindset again.

And being a beginner is one of the most powerful positions we can put ourselves in.
Because that is when we are open to learn. We grow.

Letting go is not losing

This may be the part we struggle with most.

We often think growth means adding things or skills that we earned with hard work. The more we have the more we think we grow.

More knowledge, more money, more experience, more tools.

But nature doesn’t grow only by adding. Trees release their leaves, snakes shed their skin.

Our body constantly breaks down and rebuilds.

There is a rhythm of receiving and releasing everywhere around us.

Yet we often think we are different.

We want to step into the new room but keep the door open on the previous one.
We want to add more to our cup but it’s already full.
We want the new chapter without closing the old one.

We want transformation without surrender.

It doesn’t work that way, trust me…

In many Indigenous traditions, renewal, death and rebirth are part of the same cycle rather than being opposites.

Sometimes we have to empty ourselves before we can receive again. We have to let go.

The empty cup

There is a famous Zen story I have always loved.

A professor visits a Zen master wanting to learn.

The master serves him tea.

He pours until the cup is full.

Then he continues pouring.

Tea spills over the cup and onto the table.

The professor finally protests.

The master explains that the professor is like the cup.

Already full.

How can anything new enter?

It is a simple story.

But how many of us live this way?

Our days are full.

Our calendars are full.

Our phones are full.

Our minds are full.

Our identities are full.

Even when we seek transformation, sometimes we approach it the same way and ask ourselves:

What else can I add?

Another book? Another podcast? Another teacher? Another skill?

Another goal?

But a better question should be:

What am I ready to put down?

What Florida is teaching me

Moving to Florida made me realize how much of my life had become automatic, comfortable and unconscious. In California, I knew my ways, my places, my people. My routine, school drop-off, school pickup etc… Here, I had to learn everything again. Different system, different weather, different culture.
How to get a new ID? How to register kids to school? What is school like? Where are the good restaurants? Tons of things I didnt even have to think about before.

What are cool things that we didn’t have access to before? Where to find alligators???

Underneath all of that was a bigger question:

Who am I when some of the things that used to define my life are no longer around me?

There is freedom in that question. Experiencing discomfort without automatically letting it decide what we do. Being flexible psychologically

You can be afraid and still go. You can not know what comes next but still remain open to discovering it. Sometimes discomfort simply wakes us up.

The key here is to be looking forward to what’s new rather than looking back at what used to be.

The Andes have a way of doing this

I feel something similar every time I return to the Andes. Standing in front of mountains that have been there for millions of years has a way of changing the scale of our problems.

The apus don’t care about my emails, my job or how successful I think I am. They were there long before me, and they will be there long after me. Somehow that feels incredibly freeing and humbling.

Perspective changes when the scale changes.

This is the power of retreat

A retreat shouldn’t be an escape from life. It should help us see our life more clearly.

It’s like creating a disconnect with our everyday life, and throwing us into something completely different, new, somewhat uncomfortable but knowing the whole point being about self care.
And there is no better way to reconnect with ourselves than walking trails that elders have been frequenting for hundreds of years before us. Breathing the same air, looking at the same landscapes. Like a gateway through time. A place where we can put to rest our attachments. Bringing it down to what is the most important to us all.

During our retreats in Peru, one of the first Andean rituals we experience is a despacho, a ceremony of reciprocity that also invites us to release what we no longer need so we can open ourselves to what comes next. Not a different version of ourselves, but a better one.

Releasing. Then receiving.

On our last retreat, we experienced this quite literally. During our first Huachuma walk, it was raining. We were wet, cold and uncomfortable. At one point, we even considered turning around.

Then the clouds opened, the sun appeared and an eagle began circling above us.

Had we been comfortable inside, the sun would simply have been the sun. But after walking through the rain, it felt like a gift.

Maybe life works like this more often than we realize.

Sometimes the rain teaches us how much we love the sun.

The point is to bring something back

Eventually, every retreat ends. We come back to our homes, to our lives, our emails, routines… Aligators (literally or not :D)…

And this is where transformation shows it. Maybe you listen better, you are more present, change perspective, create more space for things that didnt seem to matter before. See more friends, write more, play music.

Or maybe there is no dramatic change. Just a quiet observing of ourselves, a tap on the shoulder, a smile at what seemed to be troublesome before.

The point isn’t to stay on the mountain. The point is to bring something back from it.

We don’t need to move across the country or travel to Peru every time we need perspective. But perhaps we need to interrupt ourselves more often. Travel somewhere unfamiliar. Talk to someone who sees the world differently. Walk alone. Turn off the phone. Sit in silence. Become a beginner again.

And occasionally ask:

What am I carrying sjust because I have carried it for a long time?

And then:

What would I make place for if I let that go?

We spend so much of our lives asking what we need to acquire in order to grow. Maybe some of our greatest transformations happen in reverse.

Not through acquisition, but through release. Not by becoming more, but by making room.

The tree lets go of its leaves so its growth can continue.

Maybe we are not so different.

Let go. Make space. Receive. Grow.

The Puppy Lesson I Was Not Expecting

A little over a year ago we brought home Jupiter, our gentle Golden Retriever comet of fur and love. The kids were over the moon. I was smiling and also learning the truth about puppies. It is a lot. Chewed corners. Midnight wake ups. Tiny triumphs when he actually sits. And then the payoff that comes from training and time. One day it clicks and you realize this wild heart actually wants to partner with you.

So I built a routine. Thirty to forty five minutes in the morning. Same again in the evening. It is a big chunk of time when life is already full. But it felt healthy. It felt right.

When I Stopped Walking Him

Then I slipped. It rained for days. Work piled up. I told myself I was being efficient by just opening the door so he could do his business and come back in. One day became a week. The house started telling the truth I did not want to hear. Chewed things. Restless pacing. And then the late night puddle that made the message loud and clear.

He was not misbehaving. He was asking. Take me out. Not only to go. To move. To smell. To be a dog.

Walking Him Walked Me

I went back to the daily walks. No matter the weather. Morning and evening. Cold or wind or rain. I made those minutes unreachable. No cell coverage where I live means the moment I step outside of Wi-Fi I am gone. That was a gift I did not plan for. I started listening to audiobooks and podcasts. I watched the same trees change color and the same clouds take new shapes. I remembered what it feels like to hear your own thoughts again.

Here is what surprised me. I thought I was showing up for my dog. Turns out I was showing up for myself. Jupiter booked an hour and a half on my calendar for personal growth. Every day. I would never have given it to me if he had not insisted.

Consistency Changes the Room You Live In

Inside the house he calmed down. Fewer chewed things. Fewer goofy golden hijinks. Outside the house I started to change. The habit trained my brain. When it is time to go, I go. Conditions do not decide. The commitment does. That muscle of doing the simple thing every day even when it is not exciting starts to carry you through bigger things that also require patience.

Show up for others. Show up for yourself. Show up for the task that can feel boring or small. That is how momentum finds you. It is not glamorous. It compounds.

What Jupiter Taught Me About Growth

I used to think growth required big moves. Now I think it mostly requires steady ones. The world will always offer a reason to skip the walk. Weather. Work. Mood. When I ignore the excuses and clip on the leash anyway, I am practicing a form of inner leadership. I am saying my word matters. That practice has spilled into the rest of my life in ways I did not expect. I learn while I walk. I breathe deeper while I walk. I return home different than I left.

Yes, my dog takes me out for a walk. And yes, I look forward to it every single day.

A Small Invitation

Pick one simple practice that you can repeat no matter the weather. It could be a walk. It could be ten pages of reading. It could be five quiet minutes with your coffee. What if the success you chase is the very thing keeping you from feeling successful today?

When was the last time you felt successful without needing a new goal to prove it?

I used to think success was a place in the future. A spot on a map I could reach if I set the right goals and sprinted hard enough. I would arrive, breathe for a second, then move the goal again. Always raising the bar. So most of my life was lived in the space between here and the next level. Not here. Not now.

I inherited that definition. Good job. Financial comfort. Social status. Big house. Repeat. I went to those places. I had the big house, the super cars, the successful businesses, money, designer clothes... And it was never enough. The bar kept sliding. The feeling never landed.

So I paused. I reset. I asked what success meant to me.

The old script

The old script said success is outside of me. It sits in a title, in a number, in what others can see. When I believed that script, I kept chasing the horizon. I could touch wins, but I could not feel them. It was like trying to drink from a picture of water.

The bar that always moves

More was the rule. A promotion turns into pressure. A bigger home becomes a bigger hunger. A faster car becomes too slow. A big check becomes pocket money… The next goal appears before the ink dries on the last one. If success is only an outcome, life becomes a waiting room with nice furniture.
And life is short….

The pause

I hit stop. I gave myself space for honest questions. What do I value the most? Why am I here? Who am I becoming? I noticed how much of my drive was borrowed. Parents. Culture. The world I grew up in.
I went on a deep and intense plant medicine retreat to shake things up and find the answers…
I returned the parts that were not mine.

Redefining success

That is when I understood success had a different meaning for me. Success is a felt sense. Peace in my body and mind. Alignment with my values and my why. Not the peak of a ladder, but a way of standing on the ground I already have. The work is not to reach success. The work is to remain in it. Day after day. Breath after breath.

Staying successful

Alignment is not a single decision. It is a daily maintenance of truth. I ask simple questions. Does this choice match my values. Does this use my gifts. Does this move me toward who I want to become. When the answer is yes, I feel successful now. Even when the outer results are still catching up.

What changes when success is felt

Pressure turns into presence. Comparison turns into clarity. I stop outsourcing my worth to outcomes. I take bolder action with a quieter mind. I can celebrate progress without needing it to fix me. I can also miss a target without losing myself.

A life you can feel

This is not about shrinking your dreams. It is about rooting them. Big vision. Clear values. Calm nervous system. That mix creates a life you can feel. That is the kind of success I want to stay in. A success that is lived, not waited for.

We like to think seeing the glass half full or half empty is just a passing thought. But the way we hold that thought is the lens we look through. That lens is our mindset. You Are Not Your Thoughts

Thoughts come and go like clouds. You are the sky. When we forget that, a single cloud can look like the whole weather. A thought is a proposal, not a command. The magic here is choice. You get to accept, rename, or replace it. The muscle is discipline. The doorway is self awareness. The work is noticing what is happening in your mind before it becomes your day.

This is the quiet interior work I return to often, the same inner work I lean on when everything outside gets loud, fast, or uncertain. It builds the kind of resilience that does not depend on outcomes.

The Lemon That Is Not There

Close your eyes for a moment (maybe not if you want to continue reading this exercise…). There is a lemon on a cutting board in front of you. Bright yellow, skin slightly textured. You hold a knife. The blade slides through and the lemon opens, wet and shining. You cut a quarter. You lift it. The scent hits your nose, sharp and clean. You sink your teeth in and a stream of sour juice wakes your mouth.

If you are salivating, notice this. There is no lemon. There was only the instruction, then the image, then your body answered. This is a small example of how powerful thought can be. A picture in the mind can start a reaction in the body. If that can happen with a lemon that does not exist, imagine what repeated pictures of fear, scarcity, or failure do to your nervous system. Now imagine the opposite.

Why The Mind Skews Negative

You are not broken because you tend to notice what is wrong. That is survival doing its job. The nervous system runs threat detection all day. Negative material sticks. It lasts. It gets rehearsed. Positive material is more slippery, it passes through unless we slow down to let it land. So there is a tilt. Stress narrows perspective. Mind wandering often drifts toward worry. This is not a personal flaw. It is a default setting. Which means it can be reconfigured.

One practical move is to balance the ledger on purpose. If a single negative thought has staying power, then you feed your mind with three small, specific positives to reset the scale. Repeat this inside ordinary moments. The point is not toxic positivity. The point is regaining choice.

Self Awareness

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” — Viktor Frankl said that and he was right.

Emotion follows thought. Thought is the spark, emotion is the flame. Mindfulness is learning to see the spark in time to choose how you hold the match. That looks like noticing the first tightness in your chest, the first swirl in the stomach, the first story line the mind offers. The earlier you notice, the more room you have to act rather than react.

Under pressure the survival system takes the wheel. We default to old patterns. The work is not to eliminate stress. The work is to recognize it as it begins, and return to presence before it becomes the day’s weather.

Practicing The Pause

Make this concrete. When you feel charged, pause. One deep breath, in and down into the belly, long slow out. Name the inner weather. Sadness is here. Fear is here. Anger is here. Craving is here. Naming does not feed it. Naming makes space around it. Then ask a very simple question. What is the next kind thing I can do right now. Kind to my body. Kind to the people around me. Kind to the goal I care about.

This is not complicated. It is repeatable. The more you practice, the more you can bring that pause into hard moments. This is where the shift begins. And it is the same spirit behind the way I design practices for deep search and integration, the tools that move you from idea into lived change.

Gratitude As A Lever

A strong way to interrupt negative loops is gratitude. Not as a performance. As a precise attention practice. Three small things, right now, that you can feel. Warm water on your hands. The friend who texted you this morning. A body that keeps walking you through your life. When you focus on what is already here, the nervous system softens. The lens clears. The room gets a little bigger.

Do not wait for a special moment. Fold gratitude into the ordinary. Coffee, sunlight on the table, a conversation that made you laugh, the way a stranger held a door. Repeat. Let the repetition do its work.

Choosing A Mindset That Matches Your Goal

If you want to be happy, why keep a lens that expects lack. If you want to be brave, why practice a story that ends before it starts. If you want to build, pick a mindset that serves building. You can adopt it. You can reinforce it. You can design for it. This is not about pretending. It is about practicing the inner position that makes the outer move easier to take.

Community helps. Ritual helps. Repetition helps. And when you slip, which you will, you re enter the practice. Fail better, as the saying goes. The point is not perfection. The point is direction.

A Note On Inner Work

Mindset work is not slogans. It is inner work. It is breath and honesty and repetition. It is learning to stay with yourself when the mind gets noisy and the path is not obvious. It is how you build self trust that does not shake when results take longer than you wish. That is the foundation I keep coming back to in my work with fclients. Choose the slow, human path that endures. Speed can help. Only inner work helps you endure.

It is in the magical mountains of the Andes that I like the most to learn about myself, about life, about what matters. There the noise falls away and what remains is simple and true. Reconnecting with the principle of reciprocity, Ayni, give and receive as one living breath. After all this is the name of the retreat program we launched this month, a promise to remember together.

How much time do we spend thinking what our future will be rather than what our past should look like. How much time do we spend stressing about the future rather than ensuring we will be at peace with our past. The future does not exist, and the past only exists as we are bringing it into our present, as we remember it. When we remember, we create.

We just got back from an intensive ten days of pilgrimage to the land of ancient mystical schools of the Americas. I am so grateful for the teachers that inspired us, for the friends that responded to the call and helped us put together the A team of facilitators, some of the best walking this land. And of course I am grateful for the people who put their trust in us for an unforgettable journey of transformation.

It is not an easy feat to curate, organize and run such a retreat. It is also not to be taken lightly. We are not talking about a resort vacation. We are talking about walking the land of ancient wisdom still living through the rocks, the plants and the people. Walking the Inca trail in the footsteps of the elders. Facing ourselves in the mirror of the ancient medicines. Trusting, again and again.

Cusco to Pisac, listening begins

After landing in Cusco, we headed straight to the historical district and marveled at its unbelievable architecture. Wondering how. How did they do it. Stones that meet stones with a precision that feels like prayer. But that was only the beginning.

We went to the market for coca tea, helping us adapt to the eleven thousand feet altitude. Cusco market has amazing natural fruit juices that we took as a treat as we were all on dieta preparing for the days to come. Dieta can sound like restriction from the outside, though it felt like respect from the inside, a way to say to the medicines and to ourselves, I am arriving with intention.

After a night recharging us from a long flight, we headed to Pisac, our destination for the week. We took a couple of hours to bring the group to some of the best places we know for artisans and let everyone absorb the local culture already. The colors, the weaving, the gestures passed from grandparent to grandchild, you can feel time speaking. While the medicine work is the most important aspect of our retreat, another equally important topic is the connection to the Andean culture and its traditions, which in itself is a powerful medicine.

Arriving at the center, the offering that opens the way

As we arrived to the retreat center, we could feel the energy was heavy. Of course it is not without anxiety that most approach going into Ayahuasca ceremony. The hours were counting down and the tension was rising. That night, we gathered for an ancestral Qero ritual, known in the Andes as a despacho. It is a ceremony of reciprocity meant to align our prayers with the land, to ask permission, to release what no longer serves, and to invite guidance for the road ahead. In silence and song, we placed our prayers where earth and spirit meet. The fire carried our intention. And the sky answered in color.

Waking with the apus, meeting Mother

It is magical to wake up surrounded by the Sacred Valley apus, the mountain peaks. These giants overlooking us feel both powerful and fascinating. From their hundreds of millions of years old, they seemed to be watching us with both curiosity and care. Staring at them would humble the greatest warriors. We are clearly just passing there, in what might seem like a blip in the scale of their lifetime.

We felt like we were in the cradle of powerful mountains. That energy would be what magnifies the work we were getting ready to do. We spent the morning learning about ancient Andean philosophy, stretching and breathing with the wisdom of the apus, letting body and mind become ready to receive.

In the afternoon we gathered for a simple earth ritual by a nearby waterfall, guided by local keepers and their traditions. It was grounding to work with our hands, to listen, to slow down. Remembering our childhood and our adulthood, the parts that want to play and the parts that want to protect. We offered what no longer serves and let the land hold it. This moment helped the group immerse a little more into the beliefs and values of the Andean people, a doorway into what it means to live in harmony with the elements, the earth, the water, the sky and the fire, not to exploit them but to honor how they sustain our lives.

After some personal time for reflection we all met in the center ceremony room. The time arrived to meet our first ally, Mother Ayahuasca. This was a very powerful night for all, in the arms of divine music. Meeting ourselves in the dark, releasing, purging and opening our hearts to what is true for us all. Coming back to what really matters and stripping all the unnecessary things we surround our lives with. Shedding our skin and stepping into this first step of transformation. Remembering who we really are. Remembering our strength, our essence. Remembering where we come from. Gazing at the stars that night was like looking at a book of thousands of teachings, all connected. A blanket of ancient wisdom telling us, can you see now. And the apus, still but more alive than ever, reminding us we are their children.

Silence, softness, gratitude

Morning silence was invited to stay inward. A yummy breakfast was much needed to replenish our bodies with energy and prepare for a second night with Mother Ayahuasca. Morning breathwork and yoga brought balance and cleared the mind from the many open questions. Our brain wants to quickly make sense of what the heart feels and we need to break this pattern when doing this kind of work. There is no need to analyze. We just need to feel. The mind finds excuses, solutions. The heart knows.

After a sharing circle, a warm plant bath brought a soothing vibration and calmed us all before preparing for a second ceremony with Mother Ayahuasca. I admire all of us for walking into the temple a second time, knowing the challenges we would face and remembering we can do this. It takes courage to walk into the arms of Mother Ayahuasca. And that night she seemed to acknowledge that. She welcomed us with love and care. The night was not as intense as the previous one. We felt the joy and the connection. We ended up dancing, singing. We were left with gratitude. Thank you for teaching us. Thank you for making us remember kindness is powerful.

The womb of steam, the taste of new breath

Silence was again invited in the morning, so we could soak in the energy of the previous two nights. After our group integration circle, filled with emotional and deep shares, we got ready for the sweat lodge, or Temazcal. A time to cleanse our bodies, focus on our intention and remember what it feels to be in the womb of the mother. In the dark, as the ancient burning volcano rocks transmute the water into a thick cloud of steam, as the drums and rattles mark the rhythm of ancient healing songs, our hearts beat strong, our intentions kept us steady through the four directions that were called into this ceremony of remembering. Rebirth awaited us on the other side.

Sweat lodge is a powerful medicine.

It was time to slowly break dieta and finally we indulged with food that we had been missing for the past few weeks of preparation, paying gratitude to the wonderful people who had prepared it with love for us. We ended the day with a feast and music around the fire, laughter and relief mixing with wood smoke.

Huachuma on the ancient road, the eagle arrives

The day started with fasting. A long hike was waiting for us at Ancasmarca, or Eagle Town, a pre Inca sacred site used to store and trade goods between the Amazon and the Andes. This was the first time our group would meet with Grandfather Huachuma, my favorite medicine, the cactus. While it is a close cousin of Peyote, Huachuma grows tall and brings the sky energy. It brings into focus what needs to be done to bring our prayer into our lives. It shows us the sharp and clear path of truth. It is a heart opener.

The rain, sacred water, was with us the entire morning as we walked in silence the ancient Inca trail through the ruins. As the medicine became stronger we made stops to reflect inward. The challenging weather made most of the group doubt. It was very uncomfortable, though the majestic landscape of the mountains and the mystical energy of the site kept us going. After a few hours, we saw the weather would not improve and we decided it may be time to turn back. As we slowly walked back to the bus, still at the peak of the medicine, we chose to make a quick stop for a few songs.

Little did we imagine the most magical moment would happen. As we were singing to the sky, the clouds started clearing up. The rain stopped. Our hearts opened to welcome Father Sun with so much gratitude. That is when the eagle came. At first it circled around us from afar. But then, as we continued playing our instruments, it came right over our heads, very close. It was blessing our determination, our courage for not giving up. Reminding us victory comes to those that are patient. A huge wave of emotion swelled our group and brought tears to all of us. The unspeakable truth of beauty hit us really deep like a sharp arrow. Grandfather told us, this is simply how it is.

We savored this moment of magic. Something to remember for a lifetime. We paid gratitude to the sun, to the rain, to the earth, to the eagle and to the medicine.

It was finally time to walk back to where we had started the ceremony. We were back but we were not the same. We had a different perspective. While we started the day wondering if this was a good idea, we now understood clearly that everything had been happening as it should. If it was not for the rain, for the challenges, we would not have received this magical moment with as much power. We had been reminded to be grateful for everything we have. And that we are already abundant.

After another feast to reward our hearts and bodies, we ended the day with another circle of songs around the fire, under the stars.

The mountains that fell from the sky, three lakes, two eagles

Another morning of fasting. The previous day had been so intense that several of the group did not feel like coming out of bed for another ceremony with Huachuma. Even myself to be honest. I started receiving messages from a few that they were going to skip this hike. But I knew where we were going. To the mountains fallen from the sky. One of the most energetic places on earth. The rock there is so rich in iron and charged with electricity, it glows orange and blue. It can even send fireballs. So I decided to push us a little bit as I knew this would be a rewarding day. And it was our last plant medicine day for the retreat.

It took all of us great courage to go on the bus with empty stomachs, driving to fourteen thousand feet high, to the site of Kinsa Qocha, the three sacred lakes, where we would meet our last maestro. After we opened the ceremony around the fire we grabbed our backpacks and started walking toward the lake, passing the local Paru Paru village. The weather was clement, and the sun was warming our steps. The medicine was gentle this time and we were in awe of the beauty of the apus.

Walking Kinsa Qocha feels like walking on another planet. A world so ancient that it brings centuries old memories, as if they were memories from past lives. I love Kinsa Qocha and I know I will keep walking its trails as long as my legs will allow me to. On this silent walk we connected with the sound of our footsteps, to the sounds of nature. The wind blowing, the water clapping. We made a few stops to reflect inward again and see our reflection in the mountains. They are part of us as we are part of them.

Toward the end of the hike, my friend maestro turned to me and said, I can feel them. I asked, what. The eagles, he said. It did not take too long for two majestic eagles to show up from above the peak that was flanking us. They came dancing above us as if they were telling us, you made it, you can be proud of yourself. Another reward filling our hearts. A reminder that it does not have to be hard all the time. A reminder that gentleness can equally open your heart and bring peace. That day we all felt complete. We all felt we had been through the dark and were reborn into the sky that week. We felt different, lighter and more empowered.

But the day was not finished, our mission was meant to give back. Honor the word Ayni, reciprocity in Quechua. We came back to the village and unloaded thirty backpacks from our bus. They were filled with art and school supplies that our group distributed to the kids of the village. Their joy was the final reward of our retreat. Reminding us why we do this for. We become better men and women so we can support the children of the next generations. We returned to our retreat center, feasted again and went to sleep.

Integrating, caring, closing with cacao

This was time to integrate all the work that had been done during the week. We shared what our hearts felt, the messages and teachings we received. The answers we were able to dig deep within our hearts. The truths we had always known but had forgotten. We had all reconnected with ourselves, with each other and with the earth, bringing peace and clarity. Our eyes were now open.

It was time to take care of our bodies and we spent the rest of the day at the spa. Receiving healing from the salt caves, sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, massage, and amazing fruit juices. This felt so good.

We ended the day with a cacao ceremony, singing, dancing with this medicine of the heart. The anxiety of the first day had been replaced with much joy, tears and a sense of closing the loop. The next morning we said goodbye to the space, the land, the people, the music and the medicines that had been holding us for our work, goodbye to the apus and departed with the group.. We were now ready to meet with the sacred site of Machu Picchu....

Remembering as a path, presence as a promise

This is what the Andes keep teaching me. Live the present to create your past. Be faithful to reciprocity. Let the land and the medicines remind you of who you are. Trust that the rain and the sun each arrive with a lesson. Honor the people who walk with you. Keep your eyes soft enough to see the eagle when it comes.

The first spark

I first went to Peru five years ago, but my story with this country started long before my passport ever caught a stamp. I was seven, small enough to climb the lower shelves of my parents library, old enough to get lost in a thick book called The Last Mysteries of the World from 1976. I did not understand everything, but I knew when a page had a pulse.

The chapters on ancient civilizations felt alive. Meso America. The Olmecs. The Mayans. The Aztecs. And in South America, the Incas. I read those pages again and again. The photos of pyramids and temples were not just pictures. They were doors. My mind wandered through them and I tried to imagine daily life in those stones and terraces. Something in me recognized something in them. I felt a connection I could not explain.

Cartoons and clues

Around that time an animated TV series appeared in my world, The Mysterious Cities of Gold. It was a collaboration across countries, animated by a Japanese studio and inspired by The King’s Fifth by Scott O’Dell. A boy and a girl journeyed toward the land of the Incas during the time of the conquistadors, and every episode closed with a five minute mini documentary on Inca culture with reenactments. Who does that for kids. It was fun and so deeply educational. I learned so much without trying.

My kids watched it recently and loved it too, which quietly felt like a circle closing.

The long echo

I wanted to see Machu Picchu more than I wanted to see anything else. I had traveled to Mexico many times and around the world, but Peru was the voice that never stopped calling. Life even nudged me closer by marrying me to a South American woman. The echo grew into a direction.

Fast forward, time did what it does, and finally an opportunity opened.

Saying yes

My wife and I were exploring psychedelics for therapeutic work. She found a retreat guided by Angell Deer and felt it was the right space and the right moment to experience Ayahuasca. Most people imagine the jungle, but this retreat was in the Sacred Valley of the Andes. Cusco. The dream geography of my childhood pages.

I was not sure I would join at first. Then I said the sentence that made the decision for me. If I am ever going to meet Ayahuasca, what better place than the Sacred Valley, and what better time than my first visit to Machu Picchu. After that, it was simple. We got the plane tickets. We prepared. The yes carried its own momentum.

The instant homecoming

I will never forget stepping out of the plane in Cusco. It felt like home. Not metaphorically. Not poetically. A sensation, clear as altitude. There is an energy there that is hard to translate into sentences. It is in the earth, the stones, the trees, and the people. It is powerful and ancient. It made me understand something I had only suspected. This is where I came from. I had been there before. Even if I had not.

It was not about recognition by sight. It was recognition by feeling. As if a part of me had stayed there waiting for the rest of me to arrive.

The first sip of coca tea steadied me. Warm cup between my hands, gentle bitterness on the tongue, lungs loosening little by little. Later I wandered through the Cusco market and drank a cold pressed fruit juice from one of the many stands. Kids ran in arcs around the stools. Dogs trotted by like locals. Elders did their groceries with unhurried conversations. The air held the smells of fruit and flowers and a hint of wood smoke. I was surprised again and again by the food. Simple local ingredients. Potatoes with soul. Corn that tasted like the earth had a voice. Soups that felt like someone was taking care of me.

Walking the memory

I walked the streets of Cusco. I wandered the market of Pisac. I hiked the mountains of Kinsa Cocha. I followed the Inca Trail. I stood inside the quiet majesty of Machu Picchu. Every path felt like a conversation with myself that I had been meaning to have for years. The Andes do not shout. They show.

My first time through the Sacsayhuamán fortress, I stood next to stones that were four times my height or more and went silent. Their faces fit together like thought and breath. I ran my fingers along the edges and kept asking the question everyone asks. How did they build this. How did hands and minds move rock like that and make it sing.

When I entered Machu Picchu through its terraces, I held coca seeds in my hands to leave prayers for others (it’s a tradition). Step by step the site revealed itself. Not all at once, but like a slow turning of pages. When the city opened, I was stunned by the scale. It was so much larger than any picture you can see. The terraces, the neighborhoods, the spine of the ridge. It felt like walking into an entire new world.

The people who teach by living

The greatest part is always the people of the Andes. Welcoming. Grounded. Connected to nature in a way that is not performative. It is simply their way. They remind us what a good life can look like. Respect for the earth, Pachamama. Respect for elders. Respect for ourselves. They are brothers and sisters. They are teachers without trying to be. The custodians of an ancient wisdom many of us, in the occidental world, misplaced somewhere between urgency and convenience.

Again and again

Since that first trip I have returned to Peru many times, at least twice a year. I have visited many sites, met people who now feel like family, and taken my own family there so they can feel it for themselves. Watching my kids discover this place has been one of my deepest joys. They connected with the land and the people. They traveled the country with open eyes. They stood inside ancient sites and listened for the old wisdom. They made friends. They played in this sacred land as if the mountains were their backyard. The Sacred Valley has become one of the special places in my life, one of the few coordinates that change you by being there, and now it is theirs too.

My wife and I now take others on a similar journey. It is a way to share, and a way to give back to a place that has given us so much.

If there is a moral here, it is simple. Let the places that call you become your teachers. Follow the thread from childhood wonder to adult courage. Say yes to the door that pulls you. Travel can be a postcard or it can be a practice. When you choose practice, a landscape becomes a mirror and a community becomes a family. Peru taught me that belonging is not something you own. It is something you recognize and then care for.

What The Medicine Shows

The medicine is a teacher. It demonstrates possibilities. It highlights patterns. It lets you feel what alignment is like rather than only thinking about it. It reconciles parts that have been at war and lets them hear one another again. Sometimes it lets a younger you finally speak without being interrupted. Sometimes it invites an older wiser voice to put a warm hand on your shoulder.

But the teacher does not do the homework. Awareness without action becomes fog. The image you saw wants form. Your job is to translate vision into behavior. That is how healing roots into daily life.

Change In Slow Motion

Integration is change in slow motion. It looks simple from the outside and feels profound on the inside. You will repeat small actions until your nervous system trusts them. You will retire strategies you learned in childhood and adopt ones that serve you now. You will practice honesty that is kind. You will take responsibility for your needs. You will keep promises to yourself and then expand what you believe is possible.

This takes discipline and also gentleness. It takes time and also focus. The magic is not in intensity. The magic is in continuity. One right sized step, taken again and again, becomes a path.

Five Lenses For Integration

Rituals
Rituals turn ideas into moments. Light a candle when you open your journal to signal your nervous system that attention is arriving. Place a hand on your heart before a hard call to anchor presence. Close each day by saying out loud one thing you did that matched your intention. Rituals make meaning visible.

Intention
Intention is a compass, not a cage. Pick a simple one for a season. I am practicing truth. I am practicing kindness. I am practicing courage. Let it inform small choices. The clearer the intention, the easier it is to say yes and no without drama.

Creativity
Give your insight a body so it can live in the room with you. Sketch the feeling you want to remember. Write a note to the part of you that felt seen. Cook a meal that expresses care and invite someone you trust. Creation turns an inner moment into shared reality.

Kindness
You cannot bully yourself into growth. When you notice an old pattern, greet it by name and thank it for how it tried to help. Then choose a better way. Kindness lowers the cost of honesty which lets change happen faster.

Repetition
Learning is rehearsal. Choose one practice and repeat it until it becomes the new normal. Make it so easy you cannot fail. Ten slow breaths after your alarm. One page of journaling before coffee. One honest ask each day. Your body relaxes into what it sees you do often.

The First Relationship

Everything you want from others begins with how you treat you. Respect. Honesty. Consistency. When you invest in that relationship, every other one shifts. You listen better. You speak clearer. We live on the surface most of the time.
Responding to emails. Solving immediate problems. Chasing after goals we inherited from somewhere else.

But just like an AI running on a shallow search, surface-level living only scrapes the first few pages of our inner database. It is fast. It is useful. But it misses the depths.

The real breakthroughs, whether in science, business, or personal transformation, come when we access deep search.

What Is Deep Search?

Deep Search (AI): The process by which a system goes beyond surface-level matches to analyze hidden layers, obscure connections, and non-obvious pathways. It is slower and more resource-intensive, but it produces insights shallow search never could.

Deep Search (humans): The practice of diving beneath the conscious mind into the unconscious and subconscious realms. This means accessing emotional memory, symbolic imagery, embodied intelligence, and core values. It reorganizes not only what we know but also how we know.

Put simply: shallow search answers what you already expect. Deep search returns what you did not know you needed.

Shallow Search vs. Deep Search

Shallow search in humans looks like rational problem-solving, linear thinking, and conditioned responses. It is useful, but limited.

Deep search, by contrast, draws on the vast interconnected web of unconscious memory, sensation, and archetype. It is nonlinear, associative, and often arrives in the form of intuition, creativity, or symbolic insight.

Neuroscientists call this difference the shift between focused attention networks and the default mode network (DMN). The DMN is active when we are inwardly focused, daydreaming, self-reflecting, or retrieving autobiographical memory (Raichle et al., 2001). Shallow search keeps us locked in repetitive DMN loops. Deep search happens when that network loosens its grip and other brain regions begin cross-talking in new ways.

The Mechanisms of Human Deep Search

Our inner architecture is layered, much like an artificial neural network:

1. Surface Layer – Conscious thought and logic.

2. Middle Layer – Emotional memory, personal stories, relational imprints.

3. Symbolic Layer – Archetypes, metaphors, dreams, myths.

4. Foundational Layer – Core values, identity, and vision.

What disrupts the surface and grants access to the deeper layers? States that reduce the dominance of the DMN.

A landmark study at Imperial College London (Carhart-Harris et al., 2012) showed that psychedelics significantly reduce DMN activity. With the “CEO network” quieted, the brain becomes a free-flowing search engine, cross-referencing regions that rarely interact. fMRI scans show increased global connectivity, much like running a deep query across a vast database.

Psychedelics as a Deep Search Tool

Used with intention, psychedelics act as accelerators for human deep search.

• Loosening rigid patterns: Psychedelics weaken entrenched prediction loops in the brain, opening access to suppressed material (Carhart-Harris & Friston, 2019).

• Accessing symbolic language: Psychedelics often surface imagery and metaphor, which resemble the symbolic search results of dreams.

• Integrating shadow material: Trauma studies show psychedelics can surface repressed memories and provide new emotional context for them (Mithoefer et al., 2011, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy).

The analogy holds. They allow us to query deeper into the psyche than normal waking consciousness permits.

The Results of Deep Search

When we commit to deep search, the results are not simply answers. They are transformations.

• Identity clarity – Research in psychedelic therapy shows lasting changes in self-concept and reduced depressive rumination (Griffiths et al., 2016, Johns Hopkins psilocybin study).

• Value alignment – Participants report increased connection to nature, empathy, and a clearer sense of purpose (Lyons & Carhart-Harris, 2018).

• Creative breakthroughs – Studies link psychedelics with enhanced divergent thinking and creative problem-solving (Kuypers et al., 2016).

• Visionary direction – Psychedelics can catalyze long-term lifestyle changes toward healthier, more meaningful paths (Davis et al., 2021, psilocybin for depression).

This is more than insight. It is a restructuring of the search function itself.

Practices That Support Deep Search

Psychedelics are one tool among many. Humans have always found ways to run deep search:

• Breathwork: Shown to induce altered states and emotional release (Brewerton et al., 2013).

• Meditation: Long-term practitioners show DMN quieting similar to psychedelic states (Brewer et al., 2011).

• Journaling: Helps capture unconscious fragments before they vanish.

• Dreamwork: Provides symbolic search results from nightly processing.

• Psychedelic Journeys: In safe and intentional settings, psychedelics can act as accelerators of deep search. Research shows they reduce activity in the brain’s default mode network, increasing connectivity across regions and allowing unconscious material, symbolic imagery, and visionary insights to surface. The key is integration—translating what arises into meaningful action in daily life.

Together, these practices reinforce the depth opened by psychedelics, ensuring insights are integrated into lived life.

Living From Deep Search

Imagine if AI only ever ran shallow searches. It would recycle the same predictable answers endlessly.

That is what happens when we live only at the surface. We recycle beliefs, repeat inherited scripts, and confuse activity for meaning.

But when we engage deep search, whether through psychedelics, breath, or inner practice, we stop recycling and start creating. Every action becomes aligned with truth. Every vision carries weight.

Deep search does not just make us more intelligent. It makes us more human.

The Invitation

The question is simple: will you keep skimming the surface, or will you drop in?

Much of that is social conditioning. We absorb beliefs from our family, culture, and peers about what success and failure mean. If failure is tied to shame or rejection, we learn to stay inside the lines, even when those lines keep us from what we want.

Now, as a father of two young girls, I reflect on how I want to raise them differently so they see failure not as shame, but as part of the process.

As Franklin D. Roosevelt put it:

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Fear as a Signal

Here’s the paradox: fear often shows us exactly where we should go. It appears right at the edge of our comfort zone, where growth lives.

It’s easy to stay inside what’s familiar. Predictable. Safe. But the moment you step beyond those walls, fear comes knocking. That’s the signal.

The excuse we give ourselves is that we might fail. But what is failure, if not one of the most direct and memorable ways to learn?

This is where Carol Dweck’s growth mindset research is so relevant: people who see failure as feedback, not a verdict, develop more resilience, take more action, and achieve more in the long term.

Redefining Failure

Looking back now, after failing more times than I can count, I see those moments as my greatest teachers.

One of my hardest failures came when I was young, a musician deep in the rave scene, when a series of choices around drugs landed me in prison. Everything I thought I was collapsed in an instant. My plans. My identity. My sense of direction.

And then, life surprised me. In the space where I felt most broken, I met the love of my life—my wife. What began in the shadow of my lowest point grew into a partnership that’s now the foundation of our family, with two beautiful daughters. Proof that even in the ashes of failure, something extraordinary can take root.

The times I fell flat were the times I learned the most about myself. What works, what doesn’t, and how I show up when things go wrong. Sometimes you need to fail so hard that you have no choice but to change.

Failure is not the end of the story. It’s a plot twist. And sometimes, it’s the only way to get to the chapter you were meant to write.

As Nelson Mandela said:

“I never lose. I either win or learn.”

Post-Success Fear

There’s another form of fear that’s rarely talked about: the fear of what happens after success.

It sounds strange. Why would anyone be afraid of getting what they want? But success isn’t just a result; it’s a transition. Achieving something big changes how we see ourselves, how others see us, and sometimes the roles we play in our communities. And change, any change, can feel threatening to the part of us wired for stability.

Post-success fear often hides under questions like:

• What if I can’t keep this up?

• What if I don’t deserve it?

• What if this changes the people around me, or changes me in ways I won’t like?

I’ve felt this myself in moments where a big win made the next step feel heavier, not lighter. More expectations. More visibility. More pressure to “not mess it up.”

Psychologists call this the “impostor phenomenon” when it’s tied to feeling undeserving, but it can also be about the loss of the familiar. Success moves us into new territory, and even good unknowns can trigger our survival instincts.

The antidote? Anticipate the shift. Build the emotional and practical systems to carry the weight before you arrive there. And remember what Maya Angelou said:

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”

Because if you can hold on to that, no amount of change can take it from you.

The Fear Beyond Failure

Sometimes, fear isn’t about falling short. It’s about what happens if we actually succeed.
Post-success fear is real. More responsibility. Higher expectations. More visibility. Sometimes the thought of handling that weight feels scarier than staying where we are.

Recognizing this fear for what it is can free us from unconsciously sabotaging our own progress.

Failure as Integration

Every setback carries a lesson, and every lesson becomes part of you. That’s integration. And life is one long integration process.

When you replace the fear of failing with the curiosity of discovering what’s on the other side, you stop making choices to avoid pain and start making choices to discover possibilities.

A setback is only a permanent state if we stop engaging with it.

Failure, in this sense, isn’t a stop sign, it’s a data point. It tells us something about the gap between where we are and where we want to be. And in the process of closing that gap, we grow.

I like this quote from Thomas Edison:

“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Closing Thoughts: Fear, Failure, and Community

Fear will always be there. But it can be a compass instead of a cage.

If you reframe failure as feedback, challenge your social conditioning, address post-success fears, and surround yourself with communities that embrace experimentation, you’ll find that what once felt like a wall becomes a doorway.

And sometimes, you need to walk straight into failure to see the opportunity hidden inside it. What feels like an ending in the moment often turns out to be the seed of something you could never have imagined. New directions, new relationships, new purpose.

On the other side is not just growth, but a new way of living.

A study by labor economist Edward Lazear found that people who develop a broader skill set through varied work are more likely to become successful entrepreneurs later in life. Let me be clear right from the start: when I say entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone, I’m not gatekeeping or suggesting some people are just born without the “entrepreneur gene.” What I really mean is that not everyone is ready to dive into it, and that’s okay. Readiness isn’t something you stumble upon; it’s built through brutal honesty with yourself, a heap of trial and error, and a willingness to stare down the kind of discomfort that would make most folks run for the hills.

It’s Elon Musk, or maybe it was one of his close friends who put it perfectly:

Starting a company and making it succeed is like “eating glass and staring into the abyss.”

It’s raw, it’s painful, and it tests every fiber of your being.
That’s why so many ventures crash and burn, not because of bad luck, scarce resources, or even flawed ideas (though those can play a part).

No, the real killer is showing up unprepared for the mental and emotional marathon.
But if you’re willing to build that readiness? That’s where the magic happens.

Let’s break it down, step by step, drawing from what I’ve learned through my own highs, lows, and everything in between.

Do The Inner Work

First things first: self-awareness is your foundation.
Without it, you’re building on sand.
I’m talking about deep, unflinching awareness of your purpose, why are you even doing this?
What core values drive you, the ones that won’t bend no matter how rough things get? And crucially, what are you truly ready to commit to... and what are you prepared to let go of?

This comes from doing the inner work, looking at yourself deeply enough to uncover the answers, through practices like quiet reflection, meditation, or journaling that peel back the layers of distraction and ego.

When I started my first company, I thought I had it all figured out.

Spoiler: I didn’t.

I had to confront how attached I was to my comfortable routine, my ego-driven need for quick wins, and even some relationships that weren’t aligned with the grind ahead.
Self-awareness isn’t a one-time epiphany; it’s an ongoing mirror you hold up to yourself, and it’s not innate, it’s a skill you cultivate with consistent effort and inner exploration.

Ignore it, and you’ll chase shiny objects that lead nowhere.

Vision

Once you’ve got that inner clarity, you need a vision, a North Star that lights the way.
This isn’t some vague dream like “I want to be rich” or “I want to change the world.”

It has to be crystal clear, specific enough to rally others around it because, let’s face it, no one builds an empire alone. Your vision is what inspires co-founders, employees, investors, and customers to join the ride.

But here’s the catch: crafting that vision takes time and stems from inner work, diving deep within to let it mature, quieting the external noise so your true direction can emerge.

And tied to that vision? A solid plan.

Sure, plans rarely survive first contact with reality. Elon’s ventures are proof of that. But they give you a starting point.

The key is flexibility: when things go sideways (and they will), you adjust, iterate, and keep moving.

Without this duo of vision and plan, you’re just wandering in the dark, calling out for help that might never come.
But vision alone won’t cut it if it’s out of sync with your core values.

Alignment

Alignment is non-negotiable, and it arises from that same inner work, regularly examining yourself to ensure every piece fits with your deepest truths.

Picture this: you’re hustling toward a goal that clashes with what you truly believe in, maybe cutting corners on ethics to hit a deadline, or sacrificing family time for endless meetings.

Something will break, whether it’s your relationships, your health, or the business itself.

I’ve seen it happen to friends, and I’ve felt the cracks in my own journeys.

Patch it early, or you’ll sink.

When you’re aligned internally, it radiates outward, attracting the right people who resonate with your vision and values, those who can complement your weaknesses and turn potential pitfalls into strengths.

Without that personal alignment, it’s hard to draw in a team that’s truly on board, making the whole endeavor feel like an uphill battle from the start.

Mindset

Now, let’s talk mindset, the entrepreneur’s secret weapon.

You need to cultivate a problem-solving mentality, because running a company? It’s basically one endless stream of fires to put out.
Most CEOs will tell you straight: their days are spent solving problems.

But here’s what separates the thrivers from the survivors: the ability to spot opportunities where others see dead ends.

It’s about shifting perspectives, letting go of rigid thinking, and partnering with your ego instead of letting it drive the bus.

You need to learn how to partner with your Ego and not let it take the steering wheel. Or it will blind you..

Building this resilience isn’t glamorous. It’s forged in moments of doubt, like when a product launch flops or a key hire bails.

Yet, each setback is a chance to level up, to build the mental muscle that gets you to the next milestone.

Like self-awareness, resilience isn’t something you’re born with, it’s cultivated through deliberate effort, often amplified by inner work that helps you bounce back stronger.

And speaking of setbacks, get comfortable with them.

Entrepreneurship demands you embrace mistakes, take those one or two (or ten) steps back, and reframe them as fuel.

I didn’t have all these pieces in place when I launched my first company.

Hell, I was winging it more than I’d like to admit. But I surrounded myself with the right people who filled in my gaps. They challenged my blind spots, shared their wisdom, and helped turn failures into masterclasses.

Not all my companies were a financial success and some were... But success isn’t always measured in dollars. Some really impacted people, in a good way. Some successfully taught me key lessons.

The real win? Personal growth.

Each failure pushed me outside my comfort zone, forcing me to let go of expectations that the path would be smooth, of a cushy lifestyle I once took for granted, of ego-driven illusions that I had it all under control.

It can write code, design campaigns, generate videos, and even draft coaching scripts. It doesn’t get tired, it doesn’t second-guess itself, and it improves with every update.

But there’s one thing it can’t do: be human in a way that moves, inspires, and builds trust.

If you want to stay relevant—not just surviving, but thriving—you need to cultivate the qualities and skills that no machine can replicate.

The skills machines can’t touch

AI can analyze, optimize, and generate. But it can’t:

• Build trust. Trust comes from presence and empathy, not data.

• Sense with intuition. Some choices rely on a felt knowing, not a formula.

• Use judgment. Humans weigh facts, emotions, values, and contradictions, finding direction even in complexity.

• Create from experience. Only people can turn scars into wisdom and stories.

• Grow through emotion. Courage, grief, and love transform us. Algorithms cannot.

• Act with moral imagination. We feel the weight of right and wrong. Machines cannot.

• Face and integrate the shadow. We can confront what we deny and grow from it.

• Pursue wholeness. People can transform and become more complete.

• Radiate presence. Energy and groundedness cannot be simulated.

• Feel awe and beauty. Art can be generated, but not felt.

• Forgive. Humans can choose compassion even when logic says otherwise.

• Make meaning. We craft stories and rituals to navigate life and loss.

• Live with mortality. Knowing time is finite gives our choices weight.

• Recognize synchronicity. We sense guidance in coincidences, beyond patterns.

These are some of the qualities that make someone irreplaceable. But they don’t emerge from scrolling through tips, taking another online course, or automating your to‑do list. They’re built through practice and discomfort. By meeting yourself, not just managing your output.

Becoming more human makes you better with AI

Ironically, the more human you become, the easier it is to see AI for what it is: a tool, not a threat.

Some people will thrive without ever touching AI, focusing entirely on human connection, creativity, and craft. Others will integrate AI into their work. Either path can work.

But here’s what matters: knowing what only you bring to the table. Your judgment, your emotional presence, your ability to create meaning. These can’t be outsourced. When you’re clear on that, you can use AI without losing yourself to it.

AI can accelerate execution. It can handle repetitive tasks. It can help you brainstorm, analyze, and scale. But it still needs a human anchor to guide the why and the how, to make sure the work matters.

Cultivating the irreplaceable

So how do you build what AI can’t?

1. Self-awareness. Not as a buzzword, but as a skill. Understanding your patterns, triggers, and blind spots keeps you agile when everything changes.

2. Emotional depth. The ability to stay grounded in stress, and help others feel safe. It creates connection in a way AI can’t imitate.

3. Creative perspective. Fresh ideas don’t come from prompts alone. They come from disrupting your habits, widening your perspective, and experiencing the world fully.

4. Relational presence. Being able to listen deeply, calm your nervous system, and create a sense of safety for others isn’t “soft.” It’s foundational.

These qualities aren’t optional anymore. They’re what separate people who thrive from those who fade. And they make you far more effective at using AI for what it does best—so you can focus on what only you can.

The accelerators

You can develop these skills gradually. Through meditation, therapy, creative practice, or trial and error. But there are tools that make the process faster.

For me (and for many I’ve worked alongside) retreats, breathwork, and cannabis- or psychedelic-assisted journeyshave been among the most powerful.

These spaces strip away distractions. They surface what’s unconscious, reconnect you to what matters, and expand your emotional and creative range in ways few other practices can. They’re not shortcuts, and they’re not for everyone. But when paired with integration, they accelerate the qualities that make a person truly irreplaceable.

The real advantage

AI will only get faster, smarter, and more capable. But no matter how advanced it becomes, it won’t know what it feels like to sit in silence, make a hard choice from the gut, or hold space for someone who needs it.

The question isn’t “How do I keep up with AI?”
It’s: How do I become so deeply human that no machine can compete, and so grounded that I can choose when and how to use AI without losing myself?

Start with the skills only humans can master: trust, intuition, creativity, presence, emotional depth. Then use whatever tools, retreats, breathwork, plant medicine to help you sharpen those skills faster.

Because in a world run by algorithms, your greatest advantage is simple:
You are alive. And if you keep evolving, no machine will ever replace that.

I’m an avid photographer (my IG handle is @benpiretphoto). One thing I do to spice things up and challenge my creativity is force myself to use a lens I don’t normally shoot with. I’ll commit to it for a whole day or a week, no switching back.

Lately, I’ve been using a 28mm. It’s become how I see the world—wide, immersive, intuitive. I start to frame the shot before I even lift the camera. It’s automatic.

But when I pick up a 50mm or a 75mm, everything shifts. Suddenly, I have to think more carefully. I can’t rely on instinct. I’m seeing differently, moving differently.It’s uncomfortable, but it pushes me to focus on things I may not pay attention to otherwise. I see it as an opportunity to get pictures I wouldnt be able to with my good old 28mm.

It’s a small practice, but it carries a big lesson.

We all get used to seeing things through a familiar lens, especially when we’ve done something for a long time. Our skills sharpen, we become faster, and we start recognizing patterns. That’s how expertise works. But the risk is that we stop seeing what’s outside the frame.

In business, in leadership, in art, in life, this happens all the time.

You find what works, and you double down. But what once made you effective can quietly become a limitation. You stop asking questions. You assume your model is the right one. And without realizing it, you filter out anything that doesn’t fit.

That’s why disrupting yourself, intentionally, is a discipline worth cultivating.

It’s not about blowing everything up. It’s about stretching your perspective before circumstances force it. It’s how we stay adaptive, curious, creatively awake.

We’re all vulnerable to this, especially if we think we are an expert…

The more experience we gain, the more we rely on mental shortcuts. We develop patterns, frameworks, instincts. That’s a good thing. Until it isn’t. We start protecting what we’ve proven instead of questioning what’s possible. We stop noticing the edges of our thinking, because we’re operating from the center of what we already know.

You see it in how people talk. When their conviction makes them so rigid. You see it in teams that keep building over tech debt, instead of just starting from scratch because the product is “working” and is in prod. You see it in artists and entrepreneurs having a hard time to let go of their past selves. Fearing to betray what they created and maybe even lose what made them popular.

And I’ve seen it in myself too. We all do it. Sometimes it’s subtle: The way we nod along in meetings without listening. The way we avoid beginner spaces because we’re used to being the expert and think we’ve been grinding enough…The way we tune out feedback that doesn’t match our internal story.

And it’s no one’s fault. It’s human. It’s easier, it’s what we know.

But if left unchecked, it slowly disconnects us from the capacity to see new possibilities, and from growth.

That’s why I look up to people who keep making room for better questions, those who are open to being surprised by themselves. Those who admit when the lens they’re using no longer fits the moment they’re in. They inspire me every day.

So what does this look like in practice?

It could be a visionary founder accepting to let go of a version of your vision as it grows into a collective one to grow even bigger.

It could be the CEO of a gaming company, stepping down and going back to making games.

Or a therapist who’s spent decades guiding others, but starts attending group sessions again as a participant. Not for certification, but to reconnect with vulnerability from the other side of the room.

Some artists like Picasso kept reinventing themselves. Evolving. He went from the Blue period to the Rose Period to co-creating Cubism.

I'm not talking about performance hacks but more of personal recalibrations.

At the center is the same question: What part of me needs to shift so I can keep growing? Pushing ourselves to step out our comfort zone, adopting new perspective, staying alive to what’s possible.

That’s also what makes real co-creation so powerful, and so difficult.

We love the word, but few are prepared for what it demands. True co-creation means entering a process without needing to own it. It requires openness to being changed by the collaboration itself.

And that means letting go of ego, letting go of the outcome, and learning to listen without trying to steer. Giving up the need to be “right” so we can be relevant.

That level of openness is a form of self-disruption too. And it may be one of the most powerful practices we have.

Growth doesn’t come from repeating what you already know.

It comes from stretching into what you don’t. It comes from shifting the lens, from disrupting your own habits, assumptions, and narratives.

If you’re leading, building, or creating anything meaningful, this practice isn’t optional. It’s the foundation for everything else.

What is inner work, really?

Inner work is the process of turning inward to examine your beliefs, emotions, patterns, fears, values, and past experiences. It's about understanding yourself, so that your decisions come from alignment rather than reaction.

For entrepreneurs, creatives, and founders, inner work sharpens self-awareness, reduces emotional reactivity, strengthens decision-making, and builds long-term resilience. It helps you operate from a place of clarity rather than fear, especially when uncertainty is constant.

There are many paths to do the inner work.

Traditional therapy is one of them. It’s a powerful mirror—but often slow, costly, and not always accessible. It’s also challenging to find one and even harder to find a good match.

Meditation, mindfulness, and spiritual practices offer another doorway. Deep, enduring tools, but their impact usually unfolds over months or years.

Even body-based practices like martial arts, breathwork, or regular physical training—while deeply regulating, tend to build insight gradually through repetition.

But let’s be honest: it’s not for everyone. Not everyone wants to travel to the jungle. Or spend a weekend in ceremony. Or dive headfirst into that kind of intensity. Most psychedelics are intense, hard to access legally, and often difficult to integrate on your own.

Cannabis: Not What You’ve Been Told

I know, your eyebrows just went up. Maybe your eyes rolled. “Just Cannabis” is what you may say. It’s actually what most people say….

Cannabis doesn’t exactly have the best reputation. For decades, it’s been painted as a recreational drug. A lazy habit. A distraction. But that story is incomplete.

Cannabis as a plant species, Cannabis sativa, is estimated to be at least 12 million years old, based on fossil pollen records found in northeastern Tibet (Qinghai-Tibet Plateau)..The oldest known cannabis plant remains discovered by archaeologists date back to approximately 12,000 years ago, during the early Neolithic period. Which makes it one of the first plants to be domesticated by humans. At first for its seeds and fibers.

The earliest known spiritual use of cannabis dates back to around 500 BCE, found in wooden braziers discovered in the Jirzankal Cemetery in western China. These braziers contained charred cannabis with elevated THC levels, suggesting it was burned intentionally to induce altered states during funerary rituals (Ren et al., Science Advances, 2019).

Over time, cannabis became a sacred plant for many cultures:

• In India, it was used as bhang in Vedic rituals and associated with Lord Shiva as the “Lord of Bhang,” a god of transformation and transcendence.

• In Taoist China, it was burned in incense to communicate with spirits during ceremonies.

• In Sufi Islam, cannabis (known as hashish) was used by mystics to cultivate divine ecstasy.

• In Rastafarianism, it is regarded as a holy sacrament used to enhance meditation and connection with Jah (God).

Cannabis wasn’t really a drug or commodity. For millennia, it was a bridge between humans and spirit, body and insight, life and death.

It’s only recently, through stigma, criminalization, and misuse, that we forgot its potential.

But now, we’re trying to change this.

When used intentionally, in the right set and setting, cannabis becomes one of the most powerful tools for self-exploration available today. Especially when combined with breathwork. It’s legal in many states and countries. It’s safe. And it works for many other applications. From chronic pain and anxiety relief, to increased focus and trauma healing.

Why Cannabis Works

Cannabis can activate powerful states of introspection, insight, and emotional processing, especially when paired with the right container.

It doesn’t take a heroic dose to find meaning. Just a small amount, a quiet space, and the willingness to go inward.

And now, science is catching up to what many ancient cultures have known all along.

• Cannabis affects the Default Mode Network (DMN)—the same brain system influenced by classic psychedelics like psilocybin and LSD. The DMN is associated with self-referential thought, ego maintenance, and rumination. Modulating this network can reduce mental rigidity and increase reflective insight.[Raichle et al., PNAS, 2001]

• THC activates brain regions tied to emotional regulation and executive function, including the prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate cortex—areas that support introspection and decision-making.

• THC/CBD effects on emotional regulation & cognition
  A notable 2009 fMRI study in Neuropsychopharmacology compared Δ9-THC and CBD in healthy volunteers and found that THC activated the prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate, key regions for decision-making and introspection; while CBD modulated anxiety-related responses differently.

• Cannabis has memory recall properties. This effect can help users revisit meaningful life experiences with fresh perspective, which is central to the integration process.

• It supports neuroplasticity and stress regulation via its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. This system helps maintain homeostasis in mood, cognition, and emotional resilience.[Cannabinoid Modulation of the Stressed Hippocampus]

In our retreats and workshops, we’ve often seen participants report having similar experience to DMT, Psilocybin or LSD.

The key difference? Cannabis lets you keep your hands on the wheel.

You can steer the journey. Choose your pace. Ground quickly afterward. And often, the benefits linger: deeper sleep, reduced stress, renewed purpose, and creative flow for days following the session.

The sessions can be much shorter, depending on dosage (30mins to 3h), compared to other traditional psychedelics that can range from 4h to 12h or more.

But cannabis isn’t magic on its own. Its transformational potential lies in how we use it.

A Proven Protocol

Over the years, we’ve helped people reconnect with themselves—their purpose, their story, their vision using cannabis in guided sessions.

Along the way, we refined and perfected our craft and process which draws from our training at the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness, ancestral practices we learned in Latin America, and our own experiential refinement. • Preparation (1 hour): We begin by landing in the space through gentle movement, relaxation, meditation and breathwork. We set clear intentions. We provide orientation guidance and prepare the medicine together—grinding cannabis flowers by hand as a group ritual. We blend different strains of Cannabis flowers with each their own terpenes profiles.

  This intentional selection ensures each journey is nuanced and supportive—It’s not just about getting high. It’s about going deep, safely.

• The Journey (2–3 hours): Participants are then invited to vape the blend during a dedicated guided meditation; after which they lay down with eye shades as we guide them through circular breathwork, live DJing, live music instruments, and voice. This is not a party—it’s a ceremony of inner vision. The journey is when you will download the most important information in connection to your intention. That’s when the most valuable insights will manifest themselves.

• Integration (1 hour+): After the journey, we return to the body, share a grounding snack, and reflect. Integration is the bridge between insight and impact.

During the journey we also offer tinctures of different cannabinoids for those who want to go even deeper. Its also important to note that the strains chosen for the blend matter. We play with different terpene profiles that have mood alteration properties and enhance the experience.

Ask instead:

• What assumptions am I making about this problem?

• Who might say this problem isn’t real or urgent?

• What root causes could I be missing?

Interpretation & Action:
Use this as a lens-check. Are you seeing a real user pain, or projecting one? Validate with real conversations—not just chatbot support.

Ask instead:

Ask instead:

• Which existing products already claim this UVP?

• If I were a competitor, how would I tear this down?

• What feels weak or generic in this pitch?

Interpretation & Action:
Don’t settle for sounding good. Make sure your UVP is good—clear, distinctive, and emotionally resonant.

It’s great at tone. But often generic in soul. You’ll get clean copy, but not necessarily a story that moves people.

Ask instead:

• What parts of this sound cliché or hollow?

• What emotional truths are missing from this story?

• What personal or founder narrative could elevate this?

Interpretation & Action:
Make your brand narrative human. AI can help you write, but only you can feel. That’s what your audience is looking for.

9. Customer Feedback & Iteration

Where AI misleads:
It may rationalize user complaints, softening their meaning or interpreting it through a logical lens—losing the emotion underneath.

Ask instead:

• What’s the harshest interpretation of this feedback?

• What are users not saying that could be more important?

• What patterns are emerging beneath the surface?

Interpretation & Action:
Use AI to find subtext—but listen to raw feedback with humility. Don’t filter away the discomfort. That’s where the gold is.

10. Scaling the Business

Where AI misleads:
AI might suggest growth tactics before your ops, product, or culture are ready—because it doesn’t know what’s behind the curtain.

Ask instead:

• What would break if I scaled too fast?

• What infrastructure must be in place first?

• What cultural or product risks come with this strategy?

Interpretation & Action:
Use the AI for scenario modeling, not just acceleration. Scaling is not success—sustainable scaling is.

I keep seeing my feeds flooded by influencers and startup gurus with great 101 AI powered solutions on how to make successful products over a weekend…. Scale to six figures in a month, and automate everything—with barely a struggle.

Step 1: identify a target
Step 2: come up with a solution to their problem
Step 3: test the market
step 5: build if successful or go back to step 1….

I mean… It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out… All you need prompt, and some AI magic.

But guess what… They get it wrong… Step 1 is not identifying a target, Step 1 should be to do your innerwork. To find your vision, your purpose, build your resilience.

I’ve built and used AI tools every day. They help me write, plan, create content, and prototype. The power is real, and the potential is vast. But here’s a truth no one seems to be shouting loud enough: AI can speed you up, but it won’t prepare you for the depth.

Because real innovation comes with struggle—failure, doubt, confusion, fear. That’s where resilience is forged. Not through shortcuts, but through the commitment to show up, again and again. Even when the path seems uncertain. And believe me it is uncertain. 

Resilience isn’t built by bypassing the hard parts—it’s built by going through them. Living them.

Lately, I’m seeing a dangerous confusion: the idea that AI can replace not just execution, but emotional willpower and inner clarity. That all the answers to those magical AI prompts will respond to your question “is this a good idea?” “Am I building the right thing?”. 

Even Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, spoke to this. On a recent OpenAI podcast, he admitted:

“People have a very high degree of trust in ChatGPT, which is interesting, because AI hallucinates. It should be the tech that you don’t trust that much.”— Sam Altman, June 2025

To that I will add “Where you really need to invest your trust is in yourself”.

Because AI doesn’t hold the truth. It regurgitates patterns. Insight comes from within—and it requires inner leadership to uncover.

The real edge in this AI-saturated world isn’t speed. It’s resilience. Your ability to stay steady when results don’t show up. The resilience to survive the deep… Your capacity to stay aligned. That kind of resilience only comes from inner work.

Remember, startups failure rate in 2025 is still around 10% in the first year and 70% year 2 and 3…. AI hasn’t moved the needle on survival odds. Its still very hard. Don’t drink the cool aid!

Like Steve Jobs said. The real factor in being successful is perseverance. AI barely plays a role in that, if any.

And even when your product succeeds, misalignment between what we do and why we do it can lead straight to burnout. over half of startup founders (54–72%) report experiencing burnout in the past year. The level of sacrifice made when creating a startup leads a lot to just quit. When your work lacks deeper purpose, resilience crumbles, and burnout becomes the silent killer of both well-being and business.

Aligning your inner work with your external results is what bridges the gap. From chasing outcomes to building enduring resilience.

The Work That Builds Real Resilience

So what does inner work actually mean?

It’s not just about meditation apps or mindset hacks. It’s about turning inward with honesty and courage. It means facing the parts of yourself you’ve worked hard to avoid—fear, self-doubt, anger, shame. It means becoming aware of your unconscious patterns: how you chase validation, how you avoid stillness, how you collapse when things don’t go your way.

Inner work is shadow work. It’s nervous system work. It’s the practice of being with discomfort without numbing out or running. It's building the capacity to stay present when your plans unravel, when no one is watching, when nothing is working—yet. Its the ability to find your inner strengths.

This kind of work takes many forms. For some, it’s meditation, journaling, talk therapy. For others, it’s breathwork that releases years of unexpressed emotion. It might be a psychedelic journey that brings clarity to old wounds or reconnects you with a forgotten purpose. Sometimes, it’s as simple—and as difficult—as telling the truth to yourself.

Whatever the modality, what it builds is not just insight.

It builds self-trust.

And that’s the real root of resilience.

Because when everything moves faster than you, when you are a trailblazer, you need something deeper than a plan. You need a relationship with yourself. The kind that isn’t shaken by a failed launch, a market shift, or the latest AI tool.

That’s the foundation. Thats the Step 1. When you are aligned with your values, centered in your mind and body—you stop reacting and start responding. You can make the difference between what is nois and what isn’t. You can pivot and adapt. You can lead, not just hustle.

I like this quote from Jim Carrey:

“I wish everyone could get rich and famous and everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that's not the answer”

Ask yourself these questions:

Where in my life am I relying on speed or tools helping me to skip the hard part? Instead of using my inner clarity?

What challenges could I use as a practice ground to build resilience instead of outsourcing it?

I want to be clear—this isn’t an anti-AI rant. Quite the opposite. I’m amazed by what AI is unlocking. The ability to prototype an idea in minutes. To translate thoughts into visuals, code, music, stories. To collaborate with machines that expand our imagination instead of limiting it. We’ve never had access to this much power, this much possibility. For many, AI has reignited a creative fire that had long gone dormant. It’s a renaissance of making—and I celebrate that.
I myself develop a lot of tools with AI agents and love it.

But…
I have two young girls and I wonder what the future holds for them too.

So what does that mean to those impacted and those who will be soon impacted as AI adoption accelerates and spreads across many industries?

The options are narrowing

There aren’t many paths to move forward. Some of them seem more risky than others. One appears obvious to me….

1. Find the same job elsewhere.
But as AI continues to absorb repetitive and predictable tasks at the speed of light. Those openings are shrinking. It's becoming clear that there will be no way back. It’s only a matter of time before that same role disappears altogether.

2. Learn to use AI and try to stay ahead.
This is where most people are heading. But we’ve already seen: becoming more efficient with AI is not a guarantee of security. It’s a short-term strategy in a race that humans will eventually lose. It can also a steep learning curve, even if the tools are becoming more and more user friendly.

3. Switch careers entirely.
Changing fields might seem like the obvious move—but again, it's not a guaranty of security. Many industries that feel “safe” today are already in AI’s path. From marketing to finance to design, or even legal, automation is expanding faster than most career pivots can keep up with.

Even entrepreneurship, once seen as the ultimate safe haven, isn’t immune. AI tools are now building products, writing copy, , reviewing contracts, generating code, and making strategic decisions—meaning even solopreneurs will feel the pressure to compete with machines. If you look at content creators, AI gave an edge to some but very quickly everyone is catching up and now we are flooded with AI generated content.

So while switching careers may offer short-term relief, without a deeper reorientation, we risk landing in yet another soon-to-be-obsolete role.

4. Opt out the system
This is always an option… For some. But I like to believe we are meant for more. That we are meant to serve our communities the best we can.

5. Refocus on developing deeply human skills.
This is where I truly believe the future is.
These are the capacities machines can’t replace—and the ones becoming increasingly essential in every domain. Not because they’re new, but because they’re becoming newly indispensable.

Emotional intelligence, creativity, presence, and ethical discernment aren’t just for healers and facilitators—they’re needed in boardrooms, product teams, classrooms, and communities.
They’re what allow us to guide collaboration, hold complexity, and make sense of what AI can’t feel.

Whether you lead a team, design experiences, build systems, create content or support others—you will need human skills to do it well.
And unlike technical tools, these are not downloaded. They are cultivated.

I can sound alarming but to me this moment is not just an ending.
It’s an inflection point—a great opportunity, if we choose to see it.

Stop Competing With AI. Start Becoming More Human.

The first instinct when facing AI disruption is to adapt—to learn the tools, improve our workflows, become more efficient. Many of us are racing to keep our relevance by learning to use AI before we’re replaced by it.
We mentioned earlier the wave of AI generated content. And to be honest it’s an amazing thing that anyone can vibe code an app with not much technical or coding knowledge. I have many friends that discovered a new passion through it. It’s amazing how we can now execute ideas with AI when before it seemed like climbing a mountain. We don’t need to know how to code, we don’t need to know how to draw, how to shoot a video, how to write…. We just need to know the “what”.

But here’s the truth:

Even learning to master AI tools won’t guarantee long-term relevance if we’re still clinging to outdated roles, identities, and definitions of value. It won’t help us know the “what”. Or even have a great “what”.
We need to let go—not just of the race to keep up, but of the deeper illusion that becoming more efficient with AI will get us there faster. Faster career growth, faster financial growth, faster status growth…. It won’t and many will hit a wall.
The longer we hold on, the harder the letting go becomes.

We need to let go of those ways.
Step out of a game that no longer serves us—and choosing to play a different one entirely.

The Real Work: Developing Durable Human Skills

These changes aren’t just about automation. They’re not just about today’s AI tools replacing repetitive tasks. We’re entering a new era—one that includes the rapid development of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and, eventually, ASI (Artificial Super-Intelligence). This isn’t a temporary wave of disruption. It’s a fundamental redefinition of how intelligence operates in the world—and how human contribution is valued. The systems we built to assist us are quickly becoming systems that can outperform us. The question isn’t whether this will continue. It’s how we choose to respond.

AI is no longer just automating tasks—it’s simulating creativity, processing language, making decisions, and even mimicking empathy. It’s getting better at being useful, persuasive, and fast.

But usefulness isn’t care.
Persuasion isn’t wisdom.
Speed isn’t presence.

And this is where humans still matter most.

If AI is mastering functionality, fluency, and pattern recognition—what remains distinctly human?

What still cannot be automated—no matter how advanced the model—is our ability to connect, to feel, to hold, and to lead with embodied presence.

And while AI can generate content, remix ideas, and optimize aesthetics, human creativity is visionary. It emerges not just from data—but from emotion, intuition, struggle, and lived experience. It’s the force behind art, healing, invention, storytelling, and the radical imagining of new worlds.

These human capacities aren’t just “nice to have.” They are becoming urgently essential—especially in these critical areas:

Self-Leadership and Inner Navigation

The ability to lead yourself is foundational. AI won’t regulate your nervous system. It won’t help you make meaning of purpose. Only you can do that.

Human-AI Collaboration

As AI becomes integrated into every field, our role is shifting from operator to orchestrator. We will need to apply discernment in complex, ambiguous contexts, sk better questions, ensure technology remains aligned with human values

Supporting Our Communities

We will still turn to humans in moments of transition, grief, celebration, and growth. Nothing can replace that.

We’ll need people who can hold space for discomfort, emergence. People who can facilitate real dialogue, mediate conflict. Lead not from control but from relational depth.

AI can simulate—but never inhabit. Because only humans and animals alike can co-regulate nervous systems, model vulnerability, and inspire trust through presence.

Embodiment and Healing

AI operates in the abstract. Humans live in bodies. And the body carries wisdom that can’t be replicated through code.

Touch, breath, emotion, trauma release, and intuitive knowing are fundamental to human well-being and growth. Practitioners, facilitators, and guides who help others reconnect with their bodies and integrate life experiences are doing the very work that keeps humanity whole. AI can simulate but again, what it cannot do is co-regulate with other nervous systems.

In a time when disconnection is rampant, embodied presence becomes sacred.

Reimagining the Future

The world doesn’t just need technicians. It needs visionaries.
People who can feel what's missing.
People who can dream outside the system.
People who can lead from within, not just react from without.

AI might help us build faster. But it takes humans to ask: “What are we building for?”

Inner Work Is No Longer Optional

These skills don’t emerge or develop from tutorials. You don’t download them into your nervous system. They arise when you do the real work: facing your patterns, questioning your narratives, and reconnecting with your own humanity.

But how can we pivot quickly and catchup when things are moving so fast. When technology is evolving at a pace that we have never seen before?

Traditional methods—therapy, meditation, journaling—are powerful, but slow. It can take years to process trauma, reclaim creativity, or rediscover purpose.

AI is not waiting. And neither can we.
