The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) removed a link from its annual back-to-school guide after the linked curriculum blamed US support for Israel for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and recommended Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” as a student resource.

CAIR released its “Back to School Resource Guide” for K-12 students Monday, but the link was removed a day later.

The 16-page guide directed readers to a “Muslim Studies Curriculum,” a collaborative project between CAIR-NJ and Teaching While Muslim.

The curriculum described the nearly 3,000 deaths on 9/11 as the work of a “group self-identifying as Al Qaeda hailing from the mountains of Afghanistan.”

It attributed the attack in part to US “support of Israel,” American involvement in the Persian Gulf War and the “vast presence” of US forces across the Middle East.

Among its recommended resources was bin Laden’s “Letter to America,” which contains antisemitic claims about Jewish control over US politics, media and the economy.

The curriculum also presented bin Laden as among the Afghan “rebels” fighting the Soviet Union during the 1980s.

The material focused heavily on the consequences of 9/11 for Muslims, including increased hate crimes and discrimination.

CAIR said lessons about the attacks can be “a particularly dangerous time for Muslim students,” who “often experience a surge in bullying during school lessons about 9/11.”

The curriculum also described the post-9/11 period as producing an “aggressive shift in US domestic and foreign policy” and an “erosion of civil liberties of many Americans.”

Nicholas Haros Jr., whose mother, Frances, was killed on 9/11, criticized the curriculum.

“Israel had nothing to do with 9/11,” Haros said. “The further we get from 9/11, this new generation of kids will learn to blame our country. These kids are going to be poisoned – and that’s the intent.”

When contacted by the New York Post, CAIR did not deny removing the link and referred the newspaper to a note explaining changes to an earlier document.

The debate over canon law versus sharia law took center stage this week after Jesse Watters interviewed Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan. Most Americans know little about either system, and even less about how to debate them honestly.

Some Muslim politicians use that comparison to treat sharia as harmless private faith, even as political Islam pushes it further into public life wherever its numbers grow.

People keep saying sharia is just “Muslim canon law.” That sounds fair. It is not. It could not be further from the truth.

Canon law is the Catholic Church’s internal rulebook. It tells the Church how to run itself: priests, sacraments, marriage cases, church discipline. If you break it, the worst the Church can do is cut a person off from sacraments and office. It cannot jail a Baptist, tax a Jew, or rewrite the criminal code for a Hindu neighbor. Catholics are expected to obey the civil law of their country. Canon law is church order. It is not the government.

Sharia is different. In its classical form, it is not a parish handbook. It is presented as Allah’s law for prayer, family, money, crime, and public life. In America and the West, many Muslims say it is personal faith. In other Islamic countries around the world, it is not personal. In Muslim majority countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, and Afghanistan, sharia is woven into the state. When that happens, it does not stop at the mosque door. It reaches the courtroom, the inheritance table, the apostate, the critic, and often the non-Muslim.

That is the contrast that matters for society.

Canon law does not assign Christians a superior civic status over Jews, atheists, or Muslims. A Methodist in Detroit does not live under Vatican statutes. Classical Islamic jurisprudence, by contrast, developed a political theology in which the community of Muslims is the normal subject of the law and non-Muslims live under a protected but unequal status historically known as dhimma: tolerated, taxed, and restricted in public religion. Modern nation-states have mostly abandoned the old poll tax, but the older architecture still shows up wherever blasphemy laws, apostasy rules, limits on church-building, unequal inheritance, or family-law disabilities follow a person because of creed.

Freedom of religion in the American sense includes the freedom to leave a faith, criticize it, marry across its boundaries, and live as an unbeliever without losing civil standing. Sharia treats leaving Islam as apostasy. As of recent counts, a group of Muslim-majority countries still make apostasy a capital or otherwise severe offense; others punish blasphemy in ways that fall hardest on religious minorities. One may not pretend they are the equivalent of a diocesan marriage tribunal.

None of this requires pretending that every Muslim wants a theocratic state. However worldwide, Pew found that support for making sharia “the official law of the land” ranges from near-unanimity in Muslim majority countries to minorities in parts of Central Asia and Europe where Muslims do not have the majority yet, but their numbers are rising. The issue is not the private believer. The issue is the claim that Allah’s law should be the state’s law.

The American settlement is almost the opposite of that claim. The Constitution creates a government of enumerated powers, equal citizenship, due process, and no religious test for office. The First Amendment bars an established national church and protects free exercise. Sovereignty rests with the people under law, not with a clerical class reading revelation into criminal statutes.

A constitution that forbids religious tests cannot coexist with a system that makes office, testimony, conversion, or public speech turn on Islamic status. A constitution that protects the free exercise of religion cannot coexist with a rule that leaving Islam is a crime. Equal protection cannot coexist with a family-law regime that assigns men and women, or Muslims and non-Muslims, different civic weights as a matter of religious duty.

Jewish law is demanding. It is not the Constitution. Jews made it compatible with America because of a simple rule: the law of the land is the law. Keep your faith. Do not replace the republic with a religious court for everybody else. That is also how canon law works here. The synagogue and the church may bind their own. They do not force their ideology on the rest of the country.

America took in Catholics, Jews, Protestants, Mormons, and later many other faiths. The line that held is this: no religion becomes the civil constitution. You may live your faith. You may not make it the criminal law of your neighbor.

Political Islam breaks that line. It does not just ask for a seat at the table. In its consistent form, it says man’s constitution is invalid when it contradicts Allah’s law. That is not the same as a parish rulebook. A free country can welcome Muslims as citizens under one Constitution. It cannot pretend a system built to govern worship, family, crime, and nonbelievers is harmless church policy.

“If 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us.”

“Wherever you came from, you came to America. And you came for one reason—for one reason only—to establish Allah’s deen,” Imam Siraj Wahhaj, a former vice president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), had told Muslims, “democracy will crumble, and there will be nothing, and the only thing that will remain will be Islam.”

“Muslims in America are the most strategic Muslims on Earth,” the top Islamic figure, who has posed with numerous politicians, including Zohran Mamdani, said.

“If you get involved in politics, you have to be very careful that your leader is for Allah. You don’t get involved in politics because it’s the American thing to do. You get involved in politics because politics are a weapon to use in the cause of Islam.”

“If only Muslims were clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate,” the unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade Center bombing predicted. “Take my word, if eight million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us.”

“If we put a nationwide infrastructure in place and marshaled our resources, we’d take over this country in a very short time,” Imam Zaid Shakir, a repeat ISNA guest, preached. “What a great victory it will be for Islam to have this country in the fold and ranks of the Muslims.”

“Every Muslim who is honest would say, I would like to see America become a Muslim country.”

“I believe that as Muslims we should participate in the system to safeguard our interest and try to bring gradual change for the right cause, the cause of truth and justice. We must not forget that Allah’s rules have to be established in all lands, and all our efforts should lead to that direction,” Muzammil Siddiqi, a co-founder of ISNA, had said.

Abdul Mohammed El-Sayed, the Democratic Party’s Michigan Senate nominee, will be joining Wahhaj, Shakir and Siddiqi at the Islamic Society of North America’s latest conference.

El-Sayed will be one of two Michigan Islamist Democrats, including Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, who had told a Christian to leave the city over his opposition to honoring an Islamic terrorist supporter, to speak at the Islamic Supremacist conference whose speakers have a history of calling for an Islamic takeover of the United States and the imposition of Sharia law.

Dearborn and other Islamic controlled areas in Michigan played a significant role in the nomination of Abdul El-Sayed, who lost the non-Muslim Democrat vote, but secured the Democrat nomination by winning 94% of the Muslim vote, appearing to prove Wahhaj’s thesis of a unified bloc vote allowing Islamists to seize control of the American political system.

Abdul El-Sayed had spoken of his own dedication to Sharia law, a supremacist theocratic system that would deprive non-Muslims, women and most Americans of all their civil rights. And he will be attending a conference with ISNA’s co-founder Siddiqi, also its former two-time president and board member, who had predicted that, “once more people accept Islam, insha’allah, this will lead to the implementation of Sharia in all areas.”

That would include mutilation, sex slavery and the enslavement or genocide of non-Muslims.

ISNA has close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent organization of both Al Qaeda and Hamas, which critics have accused of infiltrating American political life, and the most notorious Hamas front group in America operated out of ISNA’s headquarters. ISNA is an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror funding trial of that group raising national security issues.

The organization whose conference Abdul El-Sayed will attend had previously featured Islamic calls for Jewish genocide, predicting that, “the last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: ‘Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.’”

One of the speakers at the ISNA conference will be Imam Tariq Masood, who had “forced his 13-year-old niece into marriage, and who had advised his followers to do the same with their young female relatives” and as reported by Andrew Bostom at RAIR, had praised Hitler for carrying out the Holocaust.

“What Hitler said, the Qur’an had said 1400 years ago. Hitler did not do this by looking at the Qur’an, he did this by observing,” Imam Masood had said. “He said that if I wanted, I would have killed all of them. I would not leave even one alive. But I am leaving some alive. So that when the world remembers me, that the Jews were cruel, then the world will know why I killed them. I am leaving some alive. They will not sit peacefully. If Hitler was alive today, the world would have said that you (Hitler) were not a good person, but you did the right thing.”

ISNA’s speakers have similar plans for Christians and for the United States of America.

“If we go to war, brothers and sisters—and one day we will, believe me—that’s why you’re commanded jihad,” Siraj Wahhaj had preached. “When Allah demands us to fight, we’re not stopping and nobody’s stopping us.

“I pray one day, Inshallah, Allah will bless us to raise an army and I’m serious about this. We were very close, recently. We had made intention to raise an army of 10,000 men in NY City. Muslim men to go fight…And the day is going to come, when that happens,” the ISNA speaker and former official predicted at a fundraiser for an Al Qaeda front group.

“I will never ever tell people, ‘don’t be violent, that is not the Islamic way.’ The violence has to be selected.” Members of his mosque’s security team, where “several people connected to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center either attended or visited around the time of the attack”, called themselves ‘Jihad warriors.’” One of them, Farooque Ahmed, was sentenced to 23 years in prison for plotting an attack on a rail station in Arlington, Virginia, when he scouted the area and then handed over his findings to what he believed was an Al-Qaeda terrorist, advising him to plant the bombs during the commute to maximize casualties.

More recently, Wahhaj’s son and family members were busted running a terrorist training camp for kids in New Mexico. The targets were to be “military, law enforcement, and financial institutions.”

Siddiqi had translated remarks by Omar Abdel Rahman, the ‘Blind Sheikh’ at the center of the World Trade Center bombing and a subsequent plot against New York City’s landmark. Hisham ‘Adam’ Hamawy, who had acted as Rahman’s translator, testified at his trial, won the Democrat nomination for Congress in New Jersey and volunteered for the same Al Qaeda front group that Wahhaj had been fundraising for when talking about raising an army of Muslims in New York.

Shaykh Akram Nadwi, another speaker at the ISNA conference, claimed that, “Muslims in the West” were living “in the territories of the active enemies of Islam.”

Imam Zaid Shakir had urged Muslims to function as a “state within a state.”

“In many places where Muslims are doing jihad and killing kaffirs (non-Muslims), this infrastructural work hasn’t been done,” he complained. “As a result, Muslims are fighting and dying, but there’s very little tangible political benefit as a result of that fighting and dying.”

“The work we should be doing is laying the infrastructure—the administrative, logistical infrastructure—putting that into place, so that if Allah put us in a situation where we did have to fight, physically, we could translate that fighting into tangible political gains,” Shakir advised.

“We have to start doing the real tough, nitty-gritty, unglamorous, boring work of developing our organizational and institutional strength in this country,” he said. “If we put a nationwide infrastructure in place and marshaled our resources, we’d take over this country in a very short time.”

“What a great victory it will be for Islam to have this country in the fold and ranks of the Muslims.”

This is only a small sample of the conference that Abdul Mohammed El-Sayed is set to attend. In a public statement, Abdul El-Sayed has denied having anything to do with the other speakers, without actually disavowing their calls for terrorism, mass murder and the conquest of America. His defenders have tried to make it sound as if these speakers, some of whom are or were important figures in the organization that is putting on the conference, are incidental.

Wahhaj, Shakir, Siddiqi and many others are not incidental, they embody ISNA’s worldview.

And Abdul El-Sayed’s participation makes it clear that he’s comfortable with calls to conquer the United States, to murder millions of people and to subjugate all non-Muslims to Islamic Supremacism. Even while El-Sayed is enmeshed in a controversy over his role in the killings of thousands of dogs and cats, he is set to attend a conference where speakers have called for the killing of far more Christians, Jews and other non-Muslims in the name of his religion.

The practice of forcing Jews to wear distinctive yellow star began under Islamic rule. In the 9th century, Caliph al-Mutawakkil (ruled 847–861) issued decrees requiring non-Muslims—Jews and Christians—to wear honey-colored (yellow) garments, hoods, turbans, and patches on their clothing so they could be instantly identified and set apart. Earlier caliphs had already required yellow belts or fringes. These rules marked Jews as inferior dhimmis under Islamic law, subject to special taxes, restrictions, and public humiliation. The yellow badge was not a Nazi invention; it was first systematized in the Islamic world. Nearly a thousand years later, the Nazis, working with the Muslims, revived the same principle. They forced Jews across Europe to wear the yellow Star of David, turning an ancient tool of degradation into a modern instrument of genocide.

Communism developed its own version of Jew-hatred. Karl Marx’s early writings contained antisemitic tropes portraying Judaism as the spirit of capitalism and money-worship. In the Soviet Union, the Bolsheviks systematically attacked Jewish religious and cultural life through the Yevsektsia. Later, under Stalin, state antisemitism intensified. The “anti-cosmopolitan” campaign of the late 1940s targeted Jewish intellectuals.

The most vivid historical collaboration between these streams of hatred occurred during World War II. Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, was one of Hitler’s most useful Muslim allies. On November 28, 1941, he met Hitler in Berlin. They shared a common enemy: the Jews. Al-Husseini broadcast radio propaganda across the Arab world urging Muslims to “kill the Jews wherever you find them” invoking a commandment from Prophet Mohammed. He worked to block Jewish emigration to Palestine so Jews trapped in Europe would face the gas chambers. Most damningly, he helped create Muslim units inside the Nazi war machine. He recruited thousands of Bosnian Muslims for the 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar, along with other Muslim SS formations. These units fought under the Nazi banner, participated in atrocities against Jews, Serbs, and others in the Balkans, and wore the SS runes alongside Islamic symbols. Al-Husseini cultivated close ties with Heinrich Himmler and sought to extend the Holocaust to the Middle East. The Mufti and the Nazis formed a practical alliance: Nazi racial ideology met Islamist Jew-hatred in a shared project of annihilation.

Other examples reinforce the pattern. After the war, Soviet anti-Zionism became a vehicle for antisemitism, flooding the Arab world with propaganda that recycled Protocols of the Elders of Zion themes. Communist regimes in Eastern Europe ran their own anti-Jewish campaigns. Islamist movements from the Muslim Brotherhood onward absorbed and amplified these ideas, blending religious texts that portray Jews as enemies with modern conspiracy theories. In Iran after 1979, the regime fused Islamist theology with leftist anti-imperialist language, producing relentless state antisemitism directed at Israel and Jews worldwide.

The bond is clear. Communism often hides Jew-hatred behind the language of class and anti-Zionism. Islamism draws on theological and historical sources that treat Jews as perpetual adversaries. When the two ideologies find common ground—whether in 1940s Berlin or in later red-green alliances—the target remains the same.

What makes today’s rise of socialism and Islamism in America tragic, is that the majority of Jewish people in the US identify as progressive democrats, blinded by hatred of Donald Trump, support and work with these Islamists socialists forces, blind to the fact that they are cutting their own throats. Tragic!

We cannot sit on the sidelines and watch another world tragedy unfold on our watch. The same hatred that marked Jews with yellow badges under a 9th-century caliph, that sent Muslim SS units into battle for Hitler, and that fueled Stalin’s purges is visible again in different forms. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The record is written in blood. 14 million people died in Nazi concentration camps. Six million were Jews. What starts with the Jews never ends with the Jews. Refusing to confront this common bond of Jew-hatred only guarantees that the next chapter will be written the same way.

Both ideologies prioritize the collective over the individual—the ummah or the proletariat—and view private enterprise, profit, and market freedom with suspicion. Islam forbids riba (interest) and mandates zakat as obligatory redistribution. Socialism demands state control of production to end “exploitation.” Both offer totalizing blueprints: one under divine law, the other under enforced equity. Both frame history as a struggle against a corrupt, materialist West and reject liberal democracy for revolutionary change. Shared anti-imperialism and anti-Zionism bind them, turning Israel into a proxy for Western capitalism.

History proves these affinities produce alliances aimed at destroying capitalist systems. After World War II the fusion reappeared. Muammar Gaddafi’s Libya produced the Green Book, a “Third Universal Theory” rejecting pure capitalism and atheistic communism for an Islamic-legitimized socialist state that seized resources and society.

The most dramatic collaboration came in Iran in 1978–79. Marxist guerrillas, communist parties, and leftists joined Ayatollah Khomeini’s Islamists to overthrow the Shah’s pro-Western, modernizing, oil-fueled capitalist regime. They shared slogans against imperialism, inequality, and American influence. The Shah called it the “red and black” alliance. Once the monarchy fell, the Islamists consolidated power, purged the leftists through imprisonment and execution, and built a theocratic state that still nationalizes key sectors, directs the economy under clerical oversight, and defines itself against capitalism and the West. Temporary anti-Western fronts repeatedly see socialists and Islamists dismantle existing orders, only for one side—often the Islamists—to dominate afterward.

These were not abstract exercises. They produced nationalizations, seizures of private enterprise, market suppression, and social engineering. Capitalism was the explicit target as the engine of Western power, individualism, and inequality.

America is seeing the domestic version of this red-green alliance. Post-October 7 campus encampments fused socialist groups with Islamist networks. DSA-backed candidates celebrate “from the river to the sea” while demanding public ownership of housing, energy, and industry, rent freezes, and taxes on the rich. Mamdani’s circle includes figures tied to anti-American symbolism and Islamist organizations. The rhetoric attacks not only “billionaires” but the constitutional order, free speech, and the confidence of a society built on markets, individual rights, and Judeo-Christian inheritance.

We should be concerned. History shows these alliances disrupt effectively even when they later fracture. Capitalism is the foundation of American prosperity, mobility, and innovation. Expansive state control, identity-based redistribution, and assaults on “Western civilization” risk the stagnation and authoritarianism seen abroad. Jewish communities already face the antisemitism that accompanies this coalition. Free inquiry and equal citizenship erode when one side demands religious submission and the other equity doctrines that reject merit. The Iranian leftists who helped topple the Shah learned too late their partners would not share power. American socialists may face the same lesson—or succeed in hollowing out the institutions that protect everyone.

America’s genius has been absorbing diverse peoples into ordered liberty and competitive markets. This red-green convergence rejects that framework for permanent revolution. When socialism and Islamism make common cause against capitalism, the result is not justice but control, decline, and division. Recognizing the pattern is the first step to resisting it.

The pattern of Iranian deception began at the regime’s birth. In 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini made promises of moderation and protection for minorities while consolidating power. Within weeks those promises evaporated. American diplomats were taken hostage for 444 days in a calculated act of state terrorism that the regime still celebrates. Documents later showed Khomeini never intended to honor any assurances given to the Carter administration. That was not an aberration—it was the template.

The nuclear file is the purest example of serial deceit. For years Iran built undeclared enrichment sites at Natanz and elsewhere while insisting its program was purely civilian. The International Atomic Energy Agency repeatedly documented Iran’s failures to declare facilities, materials, and activities. When confronted, Tehran offered false explanations, stonewalled inspectors, and continued work in secret. The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) under President Obama did not change this behavior; it rewarded it. Iran received tens of billions in sanctions relief and unfrozen assets while retaining the core of its nuclear infrastructure, advancing ballistic missiles, and expanding its terrorist network. Sunset clauses ensured the most serious restrictions would expire, leaving Iran free to race toward a bomb.

President Obama’s deal and the subsequent approach under President Biden only emboldened the regime. Cash flowed to Tehran and, through it, to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi militias. Iran enriched uranium to 60 percent—near weapons-grade—under Biden while proxies grew stronger and more aggressive. The October 7, 2023, massacre by Hamas, the sustained attacks on shipping, and the direct missile barrages against Israel all occurred after years of Western concessions. Soft power and “engagement” did not moderate the regime; they financed its expansion and bought it time.

Conservative analysts have long documented the regime’s negotiating playbook: good-cop/bad-cop theatrics between supposed “moderates” and hardliners (while the Supreme Leader retains absolute control), vague future promises, demands for upfront sanctions relief, and deliberate stalling to advance nuclear work. A 2025 United Against Nuclear Iran report detailed ten recurring tactics Iran uses to extract concessions while preserving its weapons pathway. These are not new; they are the same methods used for forty years.

Recent events only reinforce the lesson. After American and Israeli military action degraded Iranian capabilities and leadership in 2026, the regime returned to form—demanding asset freezes lifted, oil sales restored, and nuclear issues deferred while offering little verifiable dismantlement. Conservative voices across the nation warned that any deal short of unconditional surrender simply hands the mullahs a breathing space to reconstitute. History shows they will use that space exactly as they always have.

In war against a totalitarian theocracy that exports terror and seeks nuclear weapons, half-measures and negotiated pauses are not strategy—they are surrender by installment. The only durable victory is the one that removes the enemy’s decision-making center. When the leadership that has directed hostage-taking, proxy wars, nuclear deception, and regional destabilization for four decades is gone—every senior figure in the clerical and Revolutionary Guard hierarchy—the Iranian people finally gain the opening they have been denied. Regime change does not come from talking to the same men who have murdered protesters, hanged dissidents, and lied to the world. It comes when those men no longer hold the levers of power.

President Trump correctly recognized the regime’s nature when he withdrew from the JCPOA and applied maximum pressure. He correctly understood that military force can impose real costs. Continuing to negotiate now risks repeating the same cycle of deception that has already cost the West decades and the Iranian people their freedom. Stop the talks. Finish the job. Only then will those inside Iran who want a different future have a genuine chance to build it.

Senate Bill S.2134, filed by Sen. James Eldridge and rolling through the legislature, establishes an 11-member permanent “Commission on the Status of People Who Practice Islam.” Its statutory duties include identifying and recommending “qualified American Muslims for appointive positions at all levels of government, including boards and commissions.” It must recommend legislation to “combat Islamophobia.” It is ordered to “foster unity among the American Muslim community.” And it can solicit and accept gifts, donations, grants, bequests—or federal funds—with virtually no meaningful guardrails beyond existing law.

In plain English: a permanent, taxpayer-supported Islamic advisory body inside state government with a direct pipeline into hiring decisions and a mandate to shape anti-“Islamophobia” statutes. Iran, Qatar, or any well-funded Islamist network could theoretically funnel money into this commission. That should alarm every Massachusetts taxpayer who still believes in equal treatment under the law.

Massachusetts already runs a small army of identity commissions—for women, Latinos, LGBTQ youth, Black men and boys, and more. Those are bad enough as permanent bureaucracies of grievance. But Islam is not just another demographic checkbox. It is a comprehensive political, legal, and social system. In countries that still take its traditional rulings seriously, there is no minimum marriage age (Yemen remains a notorious example of child brides handed to older men), homosexuality can still carry the death penalty in roughly a dozen Muslim-majority nations, and women’s testimony and inheritance rights are explicitly unequal under classical jurisprudence.

The same progressive left that demands we “believe all women,” celebrates Pride Month, and treats any dissent on gender ideology as heresy is now building official state infrastructure for a faith tradition whose orthodox expressions reject those very values. The cognitive dissonance is breathtaking. Many of the loudest voices for this commission would be the first to face severe consequences under the legal systems still enforced in significant parts of the Muslim world. Yet they press ahead, blind to the contradiction.

This is not neutral civil-rights work. It is preferential treatment for one religion written into statute—complete with a paid executive director, office space, and the ability to influence appointments and legislation. No equivalent permanent commission exists for Christians, Jews, Hindus, or atheists. That is not equality. It is the opposite of the disestablishment Massachusetts fought to achieve in 1833.

Americans of every background—including Muslim Americans who reject political Islam—deserve equal protection, not special state machinery that elevates one group’s interests. Massachusetts already has hate-crime laws and civil-rights statutes that apply to everyone. Creating a religion-specific hiring and lobbying arm inside government is a dangerous step toward institutionalizing identity politics by faith.

Together, they have created a potent coalition that pressures Democratic candidates and lawmakers through protests, primary challenges, campus activism, and political organizing.

The result is a feedback loop: the more anti-Israel the rhetoric, the more it energizes this alliance and the more it pulls the broader party leftward on the issue.

This dynamic is directly tied to the rapid growth of the Muslim population in the United States and the political sophistication of organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The U.S. Muslim population now stands at roughly 4.5 million and continues to expand through immigration and higher birth rates. Polling shows this community holds overwhelmingly negative views of Israel—only about 4% of Muslim Americans express positive opinions of the country.

In states and districts with significant Muslim and Arab-American populations, this sentiment translates into real electoral power. CAIR and aligned groups have moved aggressively into Democratic politics. They lobby against aid to Israel, promote narratives labeling Israeli actions as “genocide,” and engage directly with Democratic institutions, including the party’s youth wing. Their influence helps shape primaries and pushes candidates to adopt harder-line positions to secure endorsements, voter mobilization, and activist enthusiasm.

Democrats are betting that this energized coalition—socialists, Islamist activists, young progressives, and Muslim voters disillusioned with traditional party support for Israel—will provide the margin of victory in competitive races and safe seats alike. By elevating the most extreme anti-Israel candidates, the party hopes to turn foreign policy grievance into domestic political fuel.

The calculation may deliver short-term base mobilization. But it comes at a steep cost. It weakens a vital democratic ally in a dangerous region. It risks mainstreaming rhetoric that blurs into antisemitism. And it signals to the broader electorate that the Democratic Party is willing to subordinate longstanding American interests and values to appease an ideological alliance that views Israel not as a partner but as an enemy.

The old Democratic Party that stood firmly with Israel is fading. In its place is emerging a party where anti-Israel extremism is no longer a liability but a feature—driven by socialists and Islamist organizations that have made opposition to the Jewish state one of their central political anchors, amplified by demographic change and the growing political clout of groups like CAIR.

Voters heading into the midterms should recognize what is happening. This is not principled debate over policy. PolitiFact tried to ‘fact check’ President Trump’s claim that the DSA was Communist and pretended to disprove it only to be forced to admit by the end of the article that Marxists and Communists actually run the DSA.

The fallback position for the media and others arguing that the DSA actually isn’t that extreme is to point to the DSA’s platform as being mostly about expanding the welfare state. But the DSA doesn’t have a real ‘platform’, it’s a coalition of Communists, Marxists and useful idiots, and what it mostly puts up is a list of short-term objectives that are easy to transform into a graphical list likely to appeal to Dems, mostly focusing on socialized medicine and other welfare gimmicks.

But there is one agenda item that makes it pretty clear where we’re headed. The DSA states “our goal is to put workers in charge of the government through a new democratic constitution that establishes civil, political, and democratic rights for all, is based on proportional representation in a single federal legislature. With a government by, for, and of the working class and with powerful labor unions and social movements organizing in every city and town, we hope to build a socialist society.”

That means abolishing the existing United States constitution and replacing it with something else, also eliminating the Senate and establishing unenumerated “civil, political, and democratic rights for all” in unstated ways.

This would most likely mean creating assorted rights to housing and forms of welfare, while allowing the government to seize private property, and eliminating the First Amendment so that it’s constrained by other considerations. That would bring the United States constitution in line with European and other socialist documents.

Does this part sound familiar? “With a government by, for, and of the working class and with powerful labor unions and social movements organizing in every city and town, we hope to build a socialist society”.

If it doesn’t sound familiar, let’s have a look at the Stalin era 1936 Constitution of the USSR.

ARTICLE 1. The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is a socialist state of workers and peasants.

ARTICLE 2. The Soviets of Working People’s Deputies, which grew and attained strength as a result of the overthrow of the landlords and capitalists and the achievement of the dictatorship of the proletariat, constitute the political foundation of the U.S.S.R.

ARTICLE 3. In the U.S.S.R. all power belongs to the working people of town and country as represented by the Soviets of Working People’s Deputies.

ARTICLE 4. The socialist system of economy and the socialist ownership of the means and instruments of production, firmly established as a result of the abolition of the capitalist system of economy, the abrogation of private ownership of the means and instruments of production and the abolition of the exploitation of man by man, constitute the economic foundation of the U.S.S.R.

You can safely assume that the DSA Constitution will be an updated version of this sort of thing, eliminating private property and ‘democracy’ while replacing it with ‘Soviets’ style democracy. Except they’ll call it Stakeholder democracy and it’s already common on the Left. There were of course lots of ‘rights’ in the Soviet constitution and they were all fictional and worthless when push came to shove.

This was the only ‘right’ that mattered. “The right to work is ensured by the socialist organization of the national economy, the steady growth of the productive forces of Soviet society, the elimination of the possibility of economic crises, and the abolition of unemployment.”

And this is the DSA vision.

I am writing to you today with a critical update on a federal bill that directly advances the core mission we have championed for years: ensuring that the U.S. Constitution remains the supreme law of the land, with no foreign or religious legal systems allowed to undermine our fundamental rights.

On July 1, 2026, Congressman Keith Self introduced the Preserving Our Constitution Act of 2026. This landmark legislation prohibits federal courts and adjudicative bodies from recognizing or enforcing foreign laws, religious laws (with particular attention to Sharia), customs, or practices that conflict with the Constitution or U.S. federal law. It builds directly on the successful American Laws for American Courts (ALAC) model that ACT For America has long led at the state level.

ACT For America has been at the forefront of the fight to protect American sovereignty in our courts. We mobilized grassroots support, educated lawmakers, and helped drive the passage of ALAC or its equivalents in multiple states. These victories include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Dakota, Texas, Washington, among others.

In each of these states, ALAC has prevented parallel legal systems from eroding constitutional protections for American citizens.

Because of the rise of Islamic immigration to the US we have seen a rise of Sharia law being used across the nation. Legal compilations have documented 150 cases judged by Sharia law instead of the constitution of the United States in 23 states including New Jersey, New York, California, Texas, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, and others with larger Muslim Communities.

These instances, though limited, illustrate why preventive federal legislation is needed to ensure the Constitution always takes precedence.

The new federal bill strengthens and nationalizes this approach. Its key provisions include:

• Prohibiting recognition or enforcement of foreign or religious laws that conflict with the Constitution or federal law.

• Blocking contracts that force disputes into foreign tribunals lacking due process or equal protection.

• Barring enforcement of foreign judgments based on laws inconsistent with our constitutional rights.

• Highlighting specific incompatible practices, such as forced or underage marriage, polygamy, female genital mutilation, restrictions on free speech or religious conversion, discriminatory treatment based on sex, religion, or caste, and cruel or unusual punishments.

• Protecting due process in international cases by preventing dismissals in favor of foreign jurisdictions that do not meet American standards of fairness.

Why is this bill essential?

The Constitution is not just a document — it is the supreme law of the land. It guarantees every American equal protection under the law, freedom of speech and religion, due process, and the right to live free from cruel or discriminatory practices. Any system that places religious or foreign law above these principles threatens our unity, our liberties, and the rule of law itself. We cannot allow competing legal systems to create a two-tiered justice system in America.

We have seen the dangerous path Europe has taken, and we must refuse to follow it. In the United Kingdom, estimates indicate there are as many as 85 Sharia courts operating today parallel to British Courts. This has contributed to parallel societies, integration failures, grooming scandals, and the erosion of free speech as authorities hesitate to criticize certain religious practices for fear of being labeled intolerant.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) penned a hysterical op-ed in the New York Times, peddling the same tired Democratic scare tactics: claiming the bill will “purge” millions of citizens and turn voting into some kind of Jim Crow nightmare. Other Democrats have launched a full media blitz—Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) vowing the bill will “suffer the death it deserves,” while the entire caucus promises to drag the Senate into a fight to kill it. They continue to scream “voter suppression” at every turn, hoping fear will drown out the truth.

But here’s the delicious irony that exposes their entire charade: Even as they attack the bill, they keep making the case for it.

During the heated Senate debate, both Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Chuck Schumer made remarks that inadvertently underscored the very need for the SAVE America Act—protecting our elections from fraud and non-citizen voting. In fact, Senator Warnock acknowledged that Georgia officials identified instances of noncitizens registering and even attempting to vote.

That raises a simple question: if even a small number of noncitizens have made it into the system, shouldn’t we take commonsense steps to prevent it entirely? Yet instead of supporting safeguards, Democrats continue to oppose them. If their own arguments highlight the vulnerability, why resist solutions? The answer is clear—they are more focused on maintaining political advantage than ensuring election integrity.

We cannot let them win this war of attrition.
