Dearest Reader;

This is just a quick hello, I see you, wasn’t that eclipse something, how are you, and won’t you join me?

I can’t believe we are now only two weeks away from the launch of Monster Most Feared. Like all the books in the series, this collection of transmissions includes a wide range of writings spanning decades. So much of my life is wrapped up in these books and it truly feels like a rite, a giving-birth, to bring them into form.

When my author’s copy of Monster Most Feared arrived and I held it in my hands, I had a stronge response. It was as if I immediately felt the energy, 37 transmissions compacted into a transmissible yet material form. I held the book to my heart, and truly, I felt its energy pour through my body. And I don't say this from the part of me that is entwined with these writings — though I certainly am — but rather the larger part that has a relationship with the transmissions as a force, an expression that simply travels through me and into form.

So when I say, I felt a power in the physical book, I say this as a dispassionate observer of my own world.

Every birth is preceded by contractions, and this has been true of this project. But the creak of opening doors is very present in my ear, and I am acutely reminded that any discomfort is the voice of my own resistance.

At our MMF Book Launch event in the main hall of a beautiful church in the Toronto Beaches, we will begin the evening with the reading of a short play I am calling Waiting for God. (With apology to Samuel, although I wonder if he actually might approve.)

Do you know Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot? An Irish-born, Paris based writer and playwright, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature and became a central figure of twentieth -century modernist and absurdist literature.

Waiting for Godot follows two “tramps” who wait endlessly by a tree for a man named Godot who never arrives. Two hours of theatre where nothing happens. Well, things happen, but not in any way like the usual dramatic structure, but rather via circular and comic exchanges, generally returning to what seems to be a trap of meaninglessness, godlessness and homelessness. All with a wry smile. Beckett wrote the play in the wake of a war torn Europe, having worked with injured soldiers and served in the French resistance. He was a remarkable man.

Somehow it struck me that the transmissions also unfold in circular conversations. They also focus deeply on questions of meaning and a search for the Divine. The difference is that Beckett suggests that there is “nothing to be done” but live within the existential horror of life, whereas the transmissions suggest that the darkness is, in fact, the point. That we come home to the Creator’s love by falling far, far away from it. And it is our resistance to this journey that amplifies our pain.

How wonderful to marry the playful angst of Waiting for Godot with the gleeful and unequivocal love of the transmissions. To marry them, and then let them have a baby.

And so, Waiting for God was conceived. A one act, improvisational drama composed of transmission excerpts, interwoven within Beckett’s play. We will open with a “table reading” of this script, meaning the play will be simply read aloud by the actors. Joining me in this escapade will be Tara Samuel as Estragon to my Vladimir. We will be accompanied by Jean Bress on cello.

The human flaws of parents have been a source of challenge and growth throughout human history; just ask Greek gods and biblical characters. Yet we know that each one of us was born into a time and place chosen by the soul for our own expansion. To live this principle is to face the discomforts of our closest relationships, rather than turn away.

What is often most challenging for parents is a lack of clarity about the cause of these heartbreaking rifts, though certainly division related to political views and belief systems leads the way. It is important to note that most commonly these are not situations of actual physical or emotional abuse, but rather personal differences. Ironically, often parents who were once rebels in their own time and who now question current cultural narratives can appear threatening to their more conforming adult children.

It seems that never before have so many children turned away from conversations of healing or resolution, even with parents who remain open and loving. Many are also choosing to keep their young children apart from grandparents, amplifying the pain of separation and cauterizing the beauty of multi-generational affection and connection.

Estranged parents often face very difficult questions about how and when to try to reconnect. What to say, how to manage lonely holidays, or what to do when there is important news to share. If there is no greater love than that of a parent for a child, then it may seem there is no greater pain than to have that love flow without return or response. There are no easy answers, but as always, there is a way for the spirit to guide the heart.

This transmission is for parents who find themselves feeling lost in such a tragedy, and for anyone who seeks to understand how to find a way forward when we feel unloved by those we love the most.

What a world, what a time.

When I first began to receive the transmissions, I was hesitant. Embarrassed. Unsure. I didn’t want others to know what I was experiencing. It was like a portal, a tap that had been turned on, and I couldn’t turn it off. My career as a literary novelist seemed in direct opposition to the writing that now poured out of my pen.

Once I found the courage to start sharing these writings, a few dear friends were enthralled and supportive. Others around me were dubious, or mistrustful. Even my professors who had encouraged me to write novels seemed perplexed. To this day, the greatest challenge I face as custodian of these received words is helping others digest what they may not yet understand. To dare to speak the words aloud and let the frequency enter while the mind rests.

One beloved soul said, they are just too long. Can we look at pieces of them instead? I hesitated, reluctant to edit or limit what had been given. And then I came to realize that like any form of art, wisdom, or prayer, each element within is a fractal of the whole, and holds power in its own right. Thus I have, over the years, found ways to choose samples, tastes, tidbits of the transmissions, and send them out into the world to land as they may.

These animated short videos are a joy to make for me, and I usually begin with a sketch or painting of my own. This one is based upon one of the illustrations from Book Two of the Love Letters series, MONSTER MOST FEARED, soon to be released in its entirety. (In case you are struggling with finding your centre as the world seems to fall apart around you, and darkness prevails everywhere, this is your book).

When my first novel was published in my twenties, I was offered a book deal by a major literary publisher for an unfinished manuscript. I had no audience, social media didn’t exist, and no one had heard of me, but Jack McClelland found merit in the writing and offered me a contract. This would never, ever happen today. I had been a writer my whole life, and at the time, I was the only published author I knew, apart from my mentor. Today, almost everyone I know has either published a book or talks about publishing one.

In Margaret Atwood's book, "Negotiating with the Dead: A Writer on Writing”, in her introduction, she talks about the strange status of being a writer. She tells a story about being buttonholed at a social function by a brain surgeon. He told her he had ambitions as a writer too, and intended to take it up after he retired. She replied, "Interesting. When I retire, I'm going to take up brain surgery."

Writers, that is, those for whom writing is their whole life, love this story. It can feel minimizing to hear that “everyone has a book in them”. I respectfully submit that no, not everyone does. Everyone has a gift within, but that gift could be anything, and is not necessarily writing. Can you imagine if we had downloadable courses on 7 Steps to Brain Surgery for Everyone? Or Entrepreneurs! Even more interesting are stats like this: about 80–82% of Americans say they want to write a book, while only about 40% read any book in a given year. One would think that reading a book would be a good place to start, before writing one. I have personally come to terms with the fact that I will never be a mathematician, an architect, a mechanic, or a cook. And not even a brain surgeon. At least, not in this lifetime.

To be an author requires a braided dharma of craft, will, talent, obsession, and the pig-headedness to never give up, even when no one else seems to care. To be prepared to die an unknown, but get up every day and write anyway.

To me, the written word has always been one of the purest expressions of the human heart and soul, and for this reason, cannot be forced or imitated, and will never be fully replaced by AI. When I began to receive, the way that I write changed forever. And now that I have a catalogue of thousands of transmissions, I have recognized that my dharma is to find ways to bring them to the world. One of my tools is to embrace AI video creation, to help craft into form what I see and feel in my heart, the deep personal connection to what each transmission represents.

Below is the work of the wonderful María Valeria Pazos, with whom I will be studying in the months ahead to learn her techniques of collage, binomials, and cut-up, combined with AI animation. Isn’t she brilliant?

For the past three months, I have been hosting a weekly Inner Circle with a beautiful group of souls to discuss transmissions from my upcoming book, Monster Most Feared. I share it not simply to highlight the pain of this soul, but to witness the centred wisdom of his father, who arrives in a moment of crisis to calm him.

While John has visceral cause for his warfare-inspired terror, in a way, he illustrates to each one of us what it is like to face our karmic traumas from this life and lifetimes past. Each one of us has known profound suffering. Each one of us holds cellular-level memories of wounds from other human journies. At some point, those fears will rise into consciousness, and we will have the choice: do I want to let the fear rule me, or will I choose to let it go?

May we all allow a voice of higher wisdom, as demonstrated by the father in this video, to bring our eyes to focus on the truth that we have such a choice, and that fear has been our teacher all along.

Years ago, I received a reading for a lovely young man who was full of questions and curiosity about how to walk in an aligned, masculine energy. As the mother of two sons, my heart fills with compassion for the plight of such young men trying to find their way, often without healthy models and under daily scrutiny and judgment from the women in their lives.

The video above is a rendering of the image that was offered in the reading for that young man, and all the men like him. When creating the video, I chose to have the warrior lay down his weapon, but really, a more accurate (although less compelling) image would have been for him to not relinquish his sword but rather keep it sheathed, while making the conscious choice to be highly discerning about when to use it.

The transmission below is also many years old, responding to a question from a man who was experiencing issues with his prostate and sex drive. He wanted to understand the energetic implications of his body’s journey.

We live in a time of profound contrasts in the expression of the masculine. On the one hand, blindness, arrogance, and cruelty hold the reins in some parts of the world, leading to profound violence against women and other men. In other parts of the world, men find themselves emasculated by a culture that wants to blame them for every problem, while robbing them of their essential and beautiful gifts.

While many women continue to face their own struggles and concerns, it is important to acknowledge that we live in a time when it is not easy to be a man.

THE WARRIOR REMEMBERS excerpt

To be a man
has for many centuries
meant to be a conqueror
or to die
This was the choice
to dominate or be dominated
to control or be controlled
and any expression of compassion
was held within this framework
as all love was housed in protection
and all power
lived in defence against fear

The man was the sword
the blade 
of both honour and attack

so firmly entwined with his identity
that any man reluctant to carry the sword
was one reluctant
to fully be a man

And now we come to a time
where the mind of the man 
questions
where the heart of the man

the answer
has not yet been found in your body
For the bargain you made
in this avoidance 
of conflict
was the sacrifice of your power

And do not find yourself alone
in this dilemma
for it is a common struggle
as the masculine 
reaches to redefine itself now
the turning away
from the primitive aggression 
but turning to what?
To intellectual consideration? 
To passive indifference?
To powerlessness in the face of those
who still live by the weapon
in the hand?

And so we ask you now
to look very closely
at the man
who does not want to fight 
and why 
Where has his courage gone
and what dreams has he left behind?
For in truth
there is a way
to stand in power
without dominance
to hold the sword high
without intent to kill
and this is
the man you seek to be
the man who struggles
to emerge from within you
as you turn gently away
from what you know
you cannot fulfill…

Know
that your love
may best be expressed
in the renewed allowing
of the whole man
in all his wildness
in all his expressions of lust
and rage
and strength
and that when he finds this Self
with consciousness
there is found
the gift of loving passion
that any woman welcomes
in her arms
and in her bed

Your physical health
and your energetic power
are inextricably linked
as is the life source
that floods the body
when such power
is released

The warrior remembers
Return to him
look into his eyes

where he now lives

If all fears lead to a fear of death, it may be that all fear of death leads us to the terror that we may never return to the arms of our Great Mother/Divine Father, and that the abyss of nothingness will one day swallow us whole.

When we look at the archetypes of monsters throughout our oral and literary traditions, none looms so large and familiar as the dragon. Sometimes chaotic and dark, and sometimes benevolent and holy, we can find dragons from Norse myths, ancient Egypt, mediaeval Europe, China and Japan, Mesopotamia and Greece, Hinduism and the Gnostic traditions.

In the tales of the original Norsemen, dragons lacked wings, moving upon the earth and in the water, serpent-like, including the iconic “Great Beast” known as Jörmungandr. Immediately after his birth, Jörmungandr was thrown into the sea by his grandfather Odin, but not only did he not die, he grew so large that in time he could wrap himself around the entire circumference of Midgaard and bite his own tail. A fierce, consuming and apocalyptic vision indeed.

This image of a great serpent or dragon eating his own tail is one of many such depictions of the cycles of life throughout human history, and is known as an Ouroboros, which means, “Devouring its Tail” or “All is One”. First appearing in Egyptian iconography, the image represented the union between Ra and Osirus, the idea that everything that ends must begin again, a cycle sacred and unbreakable. Interestingly, in the emergence of Christianity, the Ouroboros becomes a giant Leviathan, a monstrous seven-headed dragon symbolizing Satan, who descends to Earth to eventually be thrown into the abyss by an angel after a short triumph. It would seem that the relentless message of poor Ouroborus makes him prone to being cast away.

Perhaps we can attribute the universal fascination with this symbol to the fact that it could be seen as exploring one of the most daunting and profound spiritual questions of humanity. As mortals, what is our relationship to the larger Universe, and our own physical death?

Plato said, “...nor would there have been any use of organs by the help of which he might receive his food or get rid of what he had already digested, since there was nothing which went from him or came into him: for there was nothing beside him. Of design he was created thus, his own waste providing his own food, and all that he did or suffered taking place in and by himself. For the Creator conceived that a being which was self-sufficient would be far more excellent than one which lacked anything.”

Ouroboros is a universe closed to itself, and it is up to us to decide if this cycle is a dark trap, or an alchemical symbol of transformation and transcendence.

The following transmission is an early one, composed of strong, short lines and stark images, received long before I knew of Jörmungandr and the Ouroboros. As always, these words have become resonant with time and understanding. Here, rather than the dragon cannibalising himself, he preys upon the most inconsequential of creations, a common fly. It is clear that we humble human beings are represented by the fly, and the massive power of universal cycles of life and death, are the dragon.

These two elements seem to speak to the same cyclical question, but within a dualistic construct. The dragon holds the power, yet the fly chooses to enter, rather than flee. The tone of the transmission carries both the terrifying fierceness we so often associate with dragons, and at the same time a wise and potent invitation. The beast appears to be dangerous, but when we choose to find our way within, we discover a return to wholeness that is as eternal as all cycles of life.

Notably, the transmission is entitled Dragon Fly, once again representing union between dragon and fly, and the imagery of yet another one of God’s magical creations. Dragonflies, one of the oldest flying insects on Earth, are often considered to represent change, growth, and self-realization, symbolizing personal transformation and the ability to adapt to life’s challenges. Its life cycle, from nymph to adult, offers a powerful metaphor for rebirth. Dragonfly nymphs live underwater in ponds, lakes, rivers, and marshes. During this time, they grow by molting, shedding their outer skin many times. Each skin that falls away allows the nymph to grow and develop the structures it will need as an adult. Eventually, when fully mature, the nymph crawls out of the water onto a plant or rock. It then undergoes metamorphosis, splitting its skin and emerging as a winged adult. Dragonflies can live up to five years in the right conditions. What an incredible journey, for such a tiny, fragile being.

I find it remarkable that so many years ago these rich images were given to me in simple, poetic language, exploring a deeply historic and fundamental human concern. Can we trust, even what appears to be dangerous, in surrender to a place where death and bliss become One?

DRAGON FLY

Come closer
says the dragon
to the fly
so that you may taste death
upon my tongue
and as I sweetly dine
will discover the bliss
of entering me here
becoming my breath
and becoming my blood
until we are blessed
as one

You resist too much
said the dragon
to the fly
you quiver in fear
at my power

it is the very heat I exhale
that draws you ever near
until you must finally alight

So follow my beckoning

I am familiar with the story of Desmond Doss from documentaries and accounts of his life, but had not yet seen the film myself until recently. I want to make you aware, if you plan to attend our screening this evening, there are extended scenes of violence that are realistic and may be disturbing to watch.

I myself am very sensitive to violence in films, and I found the scenes in this film manageable, although more lengthy than I would wish. The bloodshed is not at all gratuitous to the story, but rather an attempt to show the horrors of war with accuracy.

Please be mindful of this when deciding to join us. The story itself is one of extraordinary courage and personal redemption, but extensive parts of the film are scenes of battle.

One of the greatest stressors of our time is a kind of growing cognitive dissonance, a creeping sense of am I going crazy because a world that used to make sense now leaves us not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

We may find we are caught between rage-full activist calls to action and the popular notion that if we stay away from social media and just hunker down to meditate, everything will be fine.

Relationships with loved ones are splintering, with opponents digging in to absolute rights and wrongs, and when we do dare to go online and check in, every day looks more and more as if an episode of South Park mated with Don’t Look Up and had a baby.

How do we find a middle ground when confronted with so much oppositional and contrasting energy? How do we stay true to our higher nature while every day we walk in human form upon an embattled planet? Could it be that this is the most important question of our times? Is it possible that, as Christ himself said, "For this purpose I was born"?

In our Sunday morning End of Karma Inner Circle we are studying processes of transmuting the shadow, including how to hold two opposing realities in a way that aligns with our highest nature. The film Hacksaw Ridge tells the remarkable true story of Desmond Thomas Doss. A United States Army corporal, he was a conscientious objector during WWII. Raised in a devout Seventh-day Adventist family, he found himself torn between his foundational belief that he could not/would not kill, and his desire to serve and support his country. He was a simple, loving, principled man.

Doss faced extreme opposition and harassment not only from his superiors but from his fellow soldiers who, rooted in their own beliefs, could only understand him as a coward. He was considered a danger to himself and the regiment. Doss proved everyone wrong when his request to serve without a weapon was granted and he went to war, not to kill, but to save lives.

In the Battle of Okinawa, Doss single-handedly rescued approximately 75 soldiers from enemy fire, often praying for the strength to carry one more wounded soldier to safety. Seldom do we see such a pure example of the willingness to stand between worlds, and yet Doss represents a central quandary of our times.

How do we uphold peace in a violent conflict, without leaving the difficult work to others? How do we deal with powerful dark forces without being pulled into their frequencies of hate and harm? What balance do we choose between retreat from material horrors and the need to face an important physical reality?

These questions land particularly hard on the Sensitives of our world, the ones whose cellular memories still include a taste of Heaven, other-worldly realms beyond the cruel sufferings of this earthly plane. Such souls are sorely tempted to exempt themselves from participation in a darkness too painful to bear. The pure-hearted may say that their most important language is that of vibration, yet still fall prey to by-passing a powerful human opportunity. This is fodder for a great conversation!

Hacksaw Ridge premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival on September 4, 2016, where it received a 10-minute standing ovation. It was named one of the Top 10 Films of 2016 by both the American Film Institute and National Board of Review.

At my recent author book-signing at Indigo Eaton Centre, I had the pleasure of meeting beautiful souls from all over the world: South Korea, Ireland, Persia, Columbia and more. A young man approached my table as his girlfriend examined the Dear Human Child card deck with fascination. I asked him if he was interested in pulling a card and looked at me shyly and said, I am not really a spiritual person, all the while glowing with a gentle, sweet energy.

And here we come to the question
of Spirit
of the presence of Divinity
in our hearts
in our world

For of course
the larger truth is that love
has never left us
can never leave us
for it is the stuff
out of which 
even darkness
is made

But in our disconnection
so too do we become separate
from genuine perception
because our fear is now everywhere
there is no antidote for so many
no daily connection 
with other forms of life
no words to be heard
from the trees
no caresses 
from the fish in the seas
no scent of the skin 
of the newborn calf
no hawk overhead
no mud between the toes
no circles of women gathered
for a birth
no families of men
digging the soil for a grave
because of this separation
from the permission
for the honouring of our joys 
and our fears
we know neither
and instead live 
in a low-grade hum
a purgatory
between dimensions
neither fully upon the earth
nor fully dead
we consume
we distract
we go mad instead

This too remains our choice
This too the makings of our now
necessary dreams

In this state of confused perception
we cannot define nor recognize
what is fear
and what is righteous
we cannot discern 
what is godly
and what is human arrogance
and so even our search
for Spirit
for the Light
becomes confused
and if this has been our world
so too must it crumble

And here we must pause
to examine all that we have named
as spiritual
and understand more deeply
the confusions which abound
Let us begin with clarifying
that we are all
in our very nature
spiritual beings

The soul must claim
the body
and in this there is no living form
which is not imbued
with its own expression
of the Divine

As such we cannot study
spirituality
we can only remember it
We cannot attempt to achieve
that which is our essential nature
we may only acknowledge it
We cannot stray from
spiritual behaviours
as all actions
have their place 
in the larger view
of this Divine expression
but in so understanding
we are asked to relinquish
all judgement of our attempts
to return to ourselves

We are asked to see
that the further we seem to travel
from wholeness
the more ready we are
to return to that
which is the Source of all Love..

Wherever we stand, there is no minimizing what is taking place. These truly are the days of pulling away the curtain from what must be seen and named, and there is no turning back. Remarkably, the transmissions have spoken of this time for years.

I am in the process of completing the second book in my Love Letters series, MONSTER MOST FEARED, a collection of transmissions on the theme of the Shadow. I knew these transmissions were important, but I had no idea how timely the book would be.

Dear Reader, you may recall that I launched DEAR HUMAN CHILD by running a Kickstarter. It was a significant undertaking with extensive admin tasks, and not a process I’m in a hurry to repeat. I know that grief only exists because of love. And I surely loved him. But I am still learning to receive the gift he left me, a promise that my love is enough. The possibility that I can be imperfect, and still deserving in love.

Unconscious patterns of lack rule each of us until we bring those into consciousness. For decades, I have offered past-life readings that reveal the primary fear-based patterns of our karmic journey. My own readings in this modality tell me that I have carried the pattern of a powerful need to save pure souls from suffering. Over the years, many layers of this patterning have peeled away, but certain souls remain my great teachers in this theme. Brody was one of them.

This transmission from him was received shortly after his passing in 2024. It reminds me of how much our loved ones beyond the body are present for us, continuing our connection in love.

We are mistaken if we think that the frustrations and negative experiences of our lives are an indication that we are meant to turn back, to abandon our vision. In fact, most commonly, the closer we draw toward meeting our highest nature in the flesh, the more we will be tested, not out of any punishment, but to grant us the capacity to build commitment to the calling we feel in our very bones.

We human beings are creatures who require oppositional energy in order to expand awareness. We must first inhale to exhale. We must lift something heavy so that our muscles can grow strong. Our wisdom does not come from ease but rather through the hero’s journey, when we face our nemesis, walking through the darkest of valleys where we are given the chance to overcome the very thing we fear the most.

We often say, It was in the last place I looked, but of course this is because once our treasure is found, we need no longer seek it. In the same way, as our faith is tested over and over again, we have not lost our dreams, we simply have not yet looked in the place they have always lived, and always will. We cannot chase alignment, for we are remembering and coming home. Any other idea is the illusion we are asked to transform.

Here we are
falling
infinitely falling
no bottom
no end in sight
and there is no other way to know
this feeling
than to live this moment
just as it has come
And here
is everything we have ever wanted
as everything we have ever feared
rises up
in our sight
Did you know?
This is where Goddess lives
This is the home of the Divine
