deal.

quick why, so this isn’t just fear. a lot of these toxins are what we call endocrine disruptors. they mimic estrogen in your body. your body goes “oh cool, tons of estrogen in here,” and that estrogen dominance is tied to the belly pouch, the not-losing-weight thing, PMS, and worse. so postpartum, when your hormones are already trying to find their footing? the last thing you want is a house full of fake estrogen. this is a YOU thing and a baby thing at the same time.

ok. the swaps that actually moved the needle, in order of bang-for-buck:

1. fragrance. this is the big one. start here.

i’m so sorry but synthetic fragrance is one of the worst offenders and it’s hiding EVERYWHERE. not just perfume. your plug-in air fresheners. the car freshener. scented candles. laundry detergent. dryer sheets. most “smells clean” cleaning products. all of it.

and if you think i’m being dramatic: IVF clinics don’t let staff wear perfume in the lab. not around the eggs. if it’s too disruptive to be near a forming embryo, i don’t love it near my baby’s lungs.

the swap is the cheapest one on this whole list. fragrance-free everything. unscented detergent, no plug-ins, no synthetic candles. it costs basically nothing and it’s the swap you’ll FEEL. your house stops smelling like “fresh linen” and starts smelling like nothing, which is the point.

2. water.

we drink a ton of it and we bathe our babies in it. so.

get a shower filter and a filter on your kitchen sink. even the water you cook with matters. this was a game changer for us.

ditch the plastic water bottles (the heating and the sitting-in-a-hot-car thing leaches straight into the water). and please, never heat anything in plastic for the baby. no microwaving in plastic, no pouring boiling water into a plastic bottle. glass and stainless steel are your friends.

i’ll be honest, we caved and started buying mineral water and at first i was like i cannot believe i’m paying this much for WATER. but it stuck. we should get to have clean water. it’s not a luxury, it’s the base.

3. air.

a good air filter, sized for the actual room. one tiny filter is not cleaning your giant living room, it’s decoration. get one that matches the space, and change the filter when you’re supposed to (i forget constantly, setting a reminder is the move).

babies are on the floor breathing the dustiest, heaviest air in the house. clean air is one of the easiest wins.

4. plastic in the kitchen.

stop storing food in plastic, especially hot food. swap your worst offenders for glass containers over time (you don’t have to do it all at once, replace as they wear out). and the pans, if you’ve got scratched-up nonstick, that’s the one to replace first.

5. food, the 80/20 version.

you do not need to buy everything organic, that’s the obsession talking and it’s expensive. use the dirty dozen / clean fifteen. strawberries, buy organic (pesticides soak into the skin). avocados, don’t bother, you’re peeling it anyway. wash your produce for real. that’s most of the benefit for a fraction of the money.

and that’s it. that’s the list. notice what i did NOT do: i didn’t rip out my carpets, i didn’t move to the countryside, i didn’t test my walls. i picked the levers that matter and let the rest go.

because here’s the part i need you to actually hear, especially if you’re the type to spiral. your body is powerful. so is your baby’s. you both have detox pathways, your liver, kidneys, skin, the whole system, built to handle a normal load. our job isn’t to achieve zero. our job is to take the load DOWN to something your body can easily handle, and then go live your life.

a mom losing sleep googling whether her couch is off-gassing is not safer than a mom who swapped her detergent and her water filter and then went to bed. the anxiety is its own toxin. we’re not doing that.

lower the load. keep the big ones. drop the guilt. that’s the whole game.

i love you. go throw out the plug-ins first. it’s the easiest win in the house.

xx, Aggie

P.S. the full room-by-room swap list, the dirty dozen / clean fifteen cheat sheet, and the exact filters and brands i actually use are all in the app so you’re not researching this at 2am with a baby on you. grab it and stop guessing.

This Substack is reader-supported. These short chains of amino acids act as precise signaling molecules, helping to regulate a vast array of bodily functions. From accelerating recovery and promoting fat loss to enhancing skin health and balancing hormones, the right peptides can be transformative. This guide explores the best and safest peptides for women, backed by scientific research.

Peptides for Recovery and Repair

Intense training, injuries, and the natural aging process can take a toll on the body. These peptides are renowned for their ability to accelerate healing and reduce inflammation.

Thanks for reading! Particularly beneficial for women due to greater joint laxity from hormonal cycles.

TB-500

Promotes deep tissue and muscle repair, reduces fibrosis, and aids recovery from overuse injuries. Complements BPC-157 for comprehensive healing.

BPC-157 and TB-500 are often considered the gold standard recovery stack, helping active women train harder and recover faster while protecting against injury.

Peptides for Anti-Aging, Fat Loss, and Body Composition

As women age, hormonal shifts can lead to changes in body composition, including increased visceral fat and decreased lean muscle. These peptides can help restore a more youthful metabolic profile.

Peptide

Key Benefits for Women

CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin

A powerful combination that stimulates the body’s natural growth hormone (GH) release, leading to accelerated fat loss, improved skin elasticity, better sleep, and stronger hair and nails without androgenic side effects.

Tesamorelin

Specifically targets and reduces visceral fat, the dangerous fat surrounding organs that accumulates during menopause. It improves metabolic health and body composition.

Sermorelin

A gentle GHRH analog that enhances deep sleep, promotes fat loss, improves skin texture, and strengthens bones. It’s an excellent choice for long-term anti-aging and wellness.

Semaglutide & Tirzepatide

These GLP-1 receptor agonists are FDA-approved for weight management and are highly effective for women, especially during and after menopause, by regulating appetite and improving insulin sensitivity.

Peptides for Skin, Hair, and Sexual Health

These peptides offer targeted benefits for aesthetics and vitality, helping women look and feel their best.

Peptide

Key Benefits for Women

GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide)

Stimulates collagen and elastin production, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin density, and promotes hair growth by strengthening follicles.

PT-141 (Bremelanotide)

The only FDA-approved peptide for treating hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women, working on the brain’s pathways to restore libido.

Collagen Peptides

While not a signaling peptide, oral collagen supplementation is a popular and effective way to improve skin hydration, elasticity, and nail strength.

Conclusion

Peptide therapy offers a sophisticated and personalized approach for women to address a wide range of health and wellness goals. From enhancing recovery and optimizing body composition to rejuvenating skin and restoring vitality, these powerful molecules can unlock a new level of well-being. However, it is crucial to work with a qualified medical professional to ensure safety, proper dosing, and the selection of high-quality, pharmaceutical-grade peptides.

References

[1] Swolverine.
