Anyone who has followed this newsletter knows that the media coverage of the Gaza war was consistently terrible and dishonest. Media organizations simply gave up on seeking the truth in favor of preferred narratives. They mostly relied on active participants in an information war to justify publishing clear falsehoods. Those falsehoods were widely believed by audiences because of the extent to which they were adopted across the board by certain mainstream groups and media organizations. Now that many people have moved on from the war and these lies have been mainstreamed, the truth is starting to be confirmed on several key issues.

One of the biggest accusations against Israel was that it was intentionally starving Palestinians in Gaza as part of its war strategy. This accusation never made much sense, since Gaza received more aid per capita than any war zone in the world—with Israel’s active assistance. Yet it was mainstreamed anyway after the IPC and UN declared a famine in 2025, and many news organizations ran with it as a factual and indisputable assertion despite questionable methodology. News organizations also controversially ran articles showing pictures of various children with unrelated illnesses to misleadingly suggest that their appearance was the result of a forced famine. Now the actual data has come out, and it makes clear that the supposed famine was never real.

The report from UNICEF found that malnutrition is low across the population in Gaza. The rates of child malnutrition and impaired growth are well below the averages for the region. The widespread starvation and associated deaths that would have occurred if there had been an actual famine just never occurred.

This doesn’t mean that there was no hunger or suffering during the war, but it does suggest that groups and media outlets adopted conclusions that lacked factual support simply to apply pressure on Israel. They traded the truth for a preferred narrative, and the data now proves it—although many of us also pointed this out at the time.

Of course, this isn’t the only example of information recently coming out that completely undermines both the anti-Israel claims and the associated reporting related to the Gaza war. Another major accusation against Israel was that it was intentionally targeting and murdering journalists to somehow cover for its actions in Gaza. Israel always countered that its targets were overwhelmingly legitimate militants and members of terror groups. There was evidence to support Israel’s defense the entire time, but the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) compiled a list of hundreds of “journalists” killed in the conflict, and media organizations widely reported on it without scrutiny, based on support for the organization.

Then, a few months ago, the terror groups based in Gaza started publishing death notices of commanders killed during the war. Of course, some of the “journalists” whom CPJ had listed as if they were targeted for their jobs were among those in the notices. At first, CPJ simply deleted some names from the list, but eventually it became so obvious and embarrassing that they hadn’t vetted the list that they had to announce they would do a full review. That review hasn’t concluded yet, but a new report suggests a majority of the remaining names on their list have some form of “terror ties,” and dozens are confirmed terror militants, which would clearly be legitimate targets in a war.

The consistent pattern is that major organizations chose to skew data and ignore relevant facts to reach conclusions that justified attacks and accusations against Israel. Media companies then cited those organizations to justify reporting the claims as if they were factual and objective. Now the data clearly undermines the previous reporting. Still, too many people believe the falsehoods for it to matter much at this point—except insofar as it has proved that neither the corrupt organizations nor the news organizations that relied on them can be trusted to provide objectively accurate information on this topic.

Replacing News with Entertainment

One of my chief complaints has been how media bias and disinformation have led to a low-trust environment for media consumers, but a related and dangerous trend has been the replacement of actual news with entertainment. This has created an increasingly hazardous situation in which people rely on sources that simply say things with little connection to reality. As a result, the entire media environment has been progressively degrading into a circus that leaves people dumber at every step.

It started with news programs becoming more focused on entertaining than informing audiences. The focus shifted from informing the audience about what was going on in the world to arguing over it and emphasizing the elements people found more entertaining.

Then it took a substantially worse turn when comedians and entertainers who understood little about the world began pretending otherwise. Jon Stewart, followed by John Oliver, did so much damage to people’s ability to process and expect accurate information on relevant news topics. They not only consistently presented a skewed version of events, but their jokes often masked complete ignorance of the subjects they discussed.

The latest iteration is conspiratorial podcast hosts who know even less and feel even less responsibility to be accurate or honest. Whether Hasan Piker, Anna Kasparian, Candace Owens, or Tucker Carlson, the conspiracy-podcast crowd consistently traffic in lies and absurd theories that intentionally misinform their audiences.

Now people are focused simply on what sounds entertaining instead of what has a basis in reality or truth. And the real problem is that this mindset is having a substantial effect on policy and news discussions. The truth almost doesn’t matter, and audiences have become so twisted by constant misinformation that they can’t recognize it anyway. Someone like Candace Owens can spew daily deranged theories that should likely lead to institutionalization, without any challenge. And even when these claims are exposed as lies, she simply moves on to the next one—all while fueling audiences’ emotions of anger, hate, and envy based on the alternate realities she creates. In her case, it is particularly dangerous because she targets specific people and groups to the point of making them obvious targets for violence and hate from anyone who actually buys into her lunacy.

Those seeking to undermine our society (foreign and domestic) have become very adept at taking advantage of this environment. Thus we face a serious societal risk: we may no longer be able to protect the interests of future generations—or even recognize what those interests are. There will be a substantial cost to this direction if it is not reversed soon.

Several media-related scandals did not get a ton of attention:

• Forbes fired its longtime editor Randall Lane after it was discovered that he had received a $6 million payment from the founder of a company that partners with Forbes to produce rankings of wealth advisors.

• New York Magazine fired writer Ross Barkan after discovering that 67 of his columns contained instances lacking “proper attribution.”

Pollsters at Chapman University asked Americans about a plane crash in North Dakota. About a third of them said the government was hiding what really happened. It turned out that the entire crash never happened. Kite and Key Media produced a great 10-minute video explaining conspiracy theories, which have become such a central part of online political discussions. The video explains the reasons people believe conspiracy theories:

• Need for certainty

• The theories provide a sense of control

• People want to feel like they are part of a group that has special information

Because people want to believe them, conspiracy theories are often non-falsifiable. Evidence doesn’t really enter into it. Believers often ignore evidence that contradicts the theory while focusing exclusively on the small elements that seem to support it.

Large-scale conspiracies are rarely true because they require thousands of people to keep a secret—and those kinds of secrets seldom remain secret. The government, in particular, has never proven competent enough to keep major secrets. Yet these theories can often be entertaining and appealing, which is why so many podcast hosts and influencers have built entire brands around them.

The last few weeks have again demonstrated exactly what the phrase means and the reality of the threat of Islamist terrorists.

• A man went on a stabbing spree in New York City last week. He is alleged to have screamed “Allahu Akbar” as he attacked a Jewish man and an Asian man.

• A man with known connections to Islamist groups rammed his car into a pride parade in Berlin.

• A man went on a stabbing spree targeting random women in Paris last Monday. He said that “Allah” commanded him to do it.

• Several Jewish-owned bagel shops were vandalized last weekend, with one being hit by gunfire.

That doesn’t even include a foiled plot in France in which six men were alleged to have plotted an attack on a synagogue. The police found a stolen vehicle nearby with loaded weapons.

This threat is not going away and is made worse by Western countries refusing to confront it or take it seriously. The case from Berlin provides a perfect example. The perpetrator, 21-year-old Abdul Ballout, was known to authorities as an active Islamist threat. He traveled to Lebanon in 2025 to try to join ISIS. After he returned to Germany, he was arrested and convicted for preparing to commit a serious act of violence, but was only sentenced to one year and ten months in youth custody by the German juvenile court. His sentence was seemingly suspended, and he was ordered to attend deradicalization sessions. By taking such a lenient approach with an active threat, authorities put the public at risk and created the opportunity for the attack that followed.

Qatar Tied to Congressional Staffers

This newsletter has repeatedly highlighted the extent to which Qatar—a slave state with only a few hundred thousand citizens—has sought to influence American institutions in recent years through billions of dollars in spending. The country has targeted the education system, policymakers, the media, and politicians. Its covert and often illegal efforts are surpassed only by those of China and the CCP.

Further evidence emerged last week when it was revealed that a senior GOP congressional staffer is under FBI investigation for acting as an agent of Qatar. But that’s not all. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) has proposed a resolution that would require congressional staffers to undergo background checks and disclose recent foreign funding. It is stunning that such a basic requirement is not already in place. Cammack later publicly admitted that the resolution was prompted by an upcoming report showing that a former member of Congress had recommended several staffers to other offices—and that those recommended individuals were recently paid as agents of Qatar.

Analyst Eitan Fischberger has done important work recently by combing through FARA filings. These filings show that Qatar’s government has been paying millions of dollars to various firms for what is ostensibly public relations work. However, the filings deliberately omit details about what that work actually consists of, because these firms function as obvious middlemen. They then pass the money on to other parties to advance Qatar’s interests, without having to disclose who is ultimately performing the work or what they are doing.

This creates a significant blind spot that allows individuals — including influencers — to receive money indirectly from a foreign government without disclosing it.

Ro Khanna Smollet

Last weekend, Ro Khanna threw a coordinated temper tantrum following his visit to the West Bank. It quickly became obvious that he had orchestrated a planned stunt designed to fuel speculation about a presidential run based on an anti-Israel platform. Khanna went public on Saturday, timed with a New York Times article, to describe an incident that had occurred on Wednesday. According to his account, he and his group were taken hostage by armed and violent settlers. The IDF then arrived and helped keep them detained for nearly 90 minutes. Only after the U.S. Embassy intervened were they released once local police arrived. Khanna was traveling with activists from several groups critical of Israel, along with a New York Times photographer.

He claimed the experience was evidence of apartheid and used it to justify cutting off all U.S. aid to Israel while promoting his presidential aspirations.

We could chalk it up to coincidence that Khanna and his media allies waited until Saturday—when the entire Israeli government was offline—to publicize these claims about events that had occurred days earlier. But what emerged afterward makes the delay and coordination look far more deliberate.

In last month’s newsletter, I wrote about The New York Times’ article on Platner and the fallout that followed. Given the events of this past week, that piece seems particularly prescient. My post accused The New York Times of, in essence, helping to cover up the worst allegations against Platner. The paper omitted those serious claims from its article. Instead, it focused overwhelmingly on milder accusations from an ex with ties to the right—thereby allowing critics to dismiss the whole story as a partisan attack. I also predicted that this wouldn’t ultimately matter beyond damaging The New York Times’ credibility, because the full truth would eventually come out.

Now some of it has. Politico published a sexual assault and rape allegation against Platner from another ex, Jenny Racicot. She shares Platner’s political views and has corroborating evidence that she discussed his behavior before his run. That revelation has already prompted many Democrats who had previously defended him to jump ship. Politico also confirmed that the alleged victim had told The New York Times about the assault at the time, but the paper chose not to pursue it. They actually openly ignored leads that would have supported the claim. In fact, Racicot said the framing of the Times article around Fifield—and the reaction to it—was the main reason she came forward to Politico.

This isn’t even everything that’s out there against Platner, which is why he dropped out of the race. The New York Times has no real excuse for its original coverage. In the end, all the paper accomplished was to delay the truth by a month and make itself look bad.

Almost as soon as the current war in Gaza began—following Hamas’s October 7 terror attack—Israel’s critics launched a simultaneous information war. One key example was the dispute over the legitimacy of Israeli targets. This newsletter has extensively documented the poor quality of much of the media coverage of the conflict. A major issue has been news organizations’ heavy reliance on sources in Gaza who worked with or on behalf of Hamas.

When Israel conducted strikes that killed individuals listed as journalists, it triggered widespread outrage across the media. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) maintained a database that was frequently cited by outlets to imply Israel was deliberately targeting journalists. This occurred despite Israel’s repeated protests—and often the provision of evidence—that many of those listed were affiliated with terrorist groups.

Then, a few weeks ago, during a pause in the fighting, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas began releasing obituaries for some of their commanders killed in the war. It emerged that nearly two dozen of them had at one point been listed by the CPJ as journalists. The use of press vests and journalistic credentials by terrorist groups to shield their operations clearly endangers legitimate journalists. Moreover, a militant simply declaring themselves a journalist does not grant them immunity from legitimate targeting in wartime. Yet this evidence was largely ignored—until the terror groups themselves started publicly claiming these individuals. At that point, the CPJ could no longer look the other way. After quietly deleting some names, the organization announced it would conduct a full and detailed review of its database.

Late this week, The New York Times published what was supposed to be a multi-month investigation into Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner’s treatment of women. What they actually produced was a coordinated campaign cover-up of the allegations against him.

Plenty has already been exposed about Platner, including a Nazi tattoo, compulsive lying, support for terrorist groups, attacks on soldiers, sexting affairs, participation in radical militias, and even blaming female victims for sexual assaults. None of it has caused Democrats or left-wing activists to reconsider their support. Each time, they have doubled down — despite having another prominent Democrat in the primary and facing a Republican opponent who is among the most moderate members of the Senate. This is mostly because Platner has the “correct” left-wing and anti-Israel views, which seems to be all that matters to many of them.

But there was clearly more. A few months ago, The New York Times contacted several of Platner’s exes to ask about their experiences. They used the bait that other women had come forward with serious allegations, including abuse and assault, to get these women to open up — while also demanding that they not speak to other outlets. The women who came forward believed they were risking attacks in order to expose the truth about an abusive ex and compulsive liar. Instead, The New York Times set them up.The paper published a piece that essentially frames the story as “Platner has some exes who don’t like him, but others who are fine with him.” They did this by omitting the most damning allegations (which are still to come) and focusing almost exclusively on the abuse allegations from one ex, Lyndsey Fifield.

It’s hard to believe this wasn’t intentional. The article spends an inordinate amount of space on Fifield’s work history in order to emphasize her conservative politics, insinuating that her allegations are politically motivated — something the paper would never do for a woman making similar claims against someone on the right. This achieved exactly the intended goal: many people online focused their attacks on Lyndsey and used her politics to dismiss the allegations.

The fact that The Times omitted the most serious allegations is telling. They will likely blame legal concerns — concerns that somehow vanished when similar allegations were aimed at Brett Kavanaugh. It’s also hard to take that excuse seriously coming from the same publication that ran an opinion piece just weeks ago featuring completely non-credible dog-rape allegations. Notably, they also omitted critical evidence that Fifield provided to them directly.

In any case, this spin attempt won’t hold up long term. More will eventually come out. The real damage will be to The New York Times’ credibility and to the women they turned into targets.

Platner’s response was equally revealing. He did not deny most of the details — only the claim of physical abuse and the assertion that he didn’t know the meaning of his Nazi tattoo before the campaign. This is despite extensive evidence from other witnesses who say he had privately discussed the reference for years, and texts from Fifield mentioning it months before Platner claims he found out.

The idea that he didn’t know the meaning of his own tattoo was never credible, but the fact that he continues lying about it says everything about his character. Platner keeps assuring people there are no other skeletons right before more emerge. Those who keep digging deeper to defend him are only fooling themselves.

This was too funny not to highlight. On The View, Sunny Hostin went on a long rant, calling Graham Platner “a liar, racist, antisemite,” and “a homophobe,” and then immediately urged viewers to vote for him anyway — apparently because it’s key to stopping Trump. What an amazing admission of having no standards.

AP Pushes Narratives on Child Marriage in Gaza

The Associated Press published an article highlighting child marriages in Gaza. The central claim was that child marriages are increasing due to the war and displacement. The problem is that this narrative is contradicted by the data. The child marriage rate indeed rose from 17.8% in 2022 to 20.6% in recent years. However, that figure is still lower than the 22% rate recorded in 2015. While some families may be turning to child marriage out of desperation, the article’s framing downplays the larger issue: child marriage has long been common in many parts of the region.

Ryan Grim’s Dropsite News has become a major source of anti-Israel content, despite the organization’s shady funding and its consistent promotion of pro-terrorist propaganda — and even actual terrorists. The outlet is so openly pro-terrorist that even the Palestinian ambassador has publicly called them out for serving as mouthpieces for Hamas. Dropsite typically promotes false stories and denies rapes, but this past week it crossed a line that is difficult to imagine from any news organization.

Kristof’s Wolf Cryers

By now, there has been extensive coverage of the serious issues with the sourcing and the unrealistic, evidence-free anti-Israel accusations — including claims of dog rape — published by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof. The problem is that mainstreaming such absurd claims only encourages more fabricated accusations, which figures like Kristof are quick to promote.

We saw this pattern again last week with the arrest and deportation of flotilla activists who tried to challenge Israel’s naval blockade by sailing a fleet of roughly 50 ships. The activists, many of whom had clearly received media training and included “media” participants, who are mostly open supporters of terrorism, claimed they were trying to deliver aid to Gaza. In reality, Gaza already receives more aid per capita than almost any other place on Earth, and their ships carried almost none. It was a publicity stunt. What proved most revealing was what happened after Israel detained and then deported them.

There is clear video evidence of the activists being released from Israeli custody, walking normally, appearing completely fine, and even celebrating. Yet upon arriving in Turkey, dozens of the same individuals — who had been filmed uninjured just hours earlier — suddenly appeared on stretchers, covered in bandages, and claiming severe injuries as they gave media interviews. Making the scene even more absurd, many of these same activists then flew home to their own countries the very same day and were filmed again walking normally and without any visible injuries — except for those sustained when Spanish police beat them at the airport for causing a disturbance.

The activists later released a statement accusing Israeli authorities of severe torture, abuse, and even rape during their brief detention. Reuters repeated these claims despite acknowledging it could not verify them. Kristof eagerly amplified them as well.

Why would these activists invent such serious allegations?

Because time and again, they are rewarded for fabricating lies about Israel. The media often treats such accusations as true until proven otherwise, regardless of evidence — or the lack of it. This is the toxic environment the media has helped create over the past two years, and Israel’s opponents have eagerly exploited it.

CCP Agents in America

China has consistently been the top spender on lobbying efforts in the United States

in recent years. Far more concerning, however, are its covert actions aimed at influencing and undermining American sovereignty. Beijing has engaged in a covert campaign to manipulate the levers of power in the United States.

In 2024, Linda Sun, a senior aide to the New York Governor, was charged with acting as an undisclosed agent of the Chinese Communist Party. This was not an isolated case, but part of a broader pattern of China recruiting spies and agents into positions of power to advance its interests in America. Earlier this week, the mayor of Arcadia, California, also pleaded guilty to working as an agent on behalf of the CCP.

Some other recent examples include:

• In 2025, a top Department of State employee with high-level security clearance was sentenced to four years in prison for passing national defense information to PRC agents in exchange for $10,000 in cash.

• In 2024, a former CIA officer was sentenced to ten years in prison for providing PRC agents with a large volume of national defense information for $50,000 in cash.

• In 2026, a U.S. Navy officer was sentenced to 200 months in prison for espionage after selling secrets about naval capabilities to the PRC in exchange for $12,000.

• In April 2025, a former U.S. Army intelligence analyst was sentenced to 84 months in prison for providing the PRC with sensitive data on U.S. Army capabilities for $42,000.

• In October 2025, a former U.S. Army sergeant was sentenced to four years in prison for selling national defense information to PRC agents.

• In 2025, an active-duty U.S. Army sergeant was arrested for selling classified hard drives to individuals in China for at least $15,000.

This week, former community college professor and pro-Hamas protester Loay Abdel Fattah Alnaji pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the November 2023 death of Paul Kessler. As the facts came out about the incident, it became very clear that Alnaji intentionally crossed the street to attack Kessler, who was demonstrating in support of Israel. Alnaji struck Kessler with a bullhorn. There is at least some evidence that Alnaji will avoid serious jail time for the killing.

Now that Alnaji has pleaded guilty, it is worth revisiting some of the early dishonest coverage from the media regarding the story. Here were three major headlines:

Back in 2024, ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan issued arrest warrant applications for leading Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, over Israel’s conduct in the Gaza war. These warrants were particularly surprising since Israel is not a party to the Rome Statute, and much of the case appeared to rely on false or misleading claims.

It was later revealed that Karim Khan was already facing sexual assault allegations from a Muslim staffer at the time, and that he had reportedly used the warrants as leverage to try to prevent the victim from coming forward. This is not the only evidence of Khan’s alleged corruption. He refused to pursue charges against the Maduro regime in Venezuela — despite the ICC having jurisdiction there — even as his sister-in-law worked as a lawyer on behalf of that regime.

The latest revelations, published in The Wall Street Journal, are even more shocking. According to witness statements and an audio recording, two private firms were working on behalf of the Qatari government to dig up dirt on Khan’s accuser and discredit her. This suggests there was an arrangement between Qatar and Khan: he would issue the questionable arrest warrants in exchange for support and protection. That exact agreement is reportedly discussed in the recording.

A new Department of Justice indictment has revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) spent years paying millions of dollars to individuals associated with violent hate groups — including Nazis, KKK members, and even organizers of the infamous Unite the Right rally. The organization then raised tens of millions in donations by writing about and highlighting the dangers posed by the very groups it was secretly funding.

The main defense, pushed by many on the left and some in the media, is that these were payments to informants. However, the SPLC is not a law enforcement agency, so it has no special exemption allowing it to fund criminals under the guise of infiltration. It is also clear that these payments went well beyond legitimate information-gathering.

In one case, the SPLC reportedly provided funding to a hate group that was nearly bankrupt and on the verge of extinction — seemingly reviving it so the organization could continue to highlight the threat it posed. At the same time, the SPLC has often provided cover for such groups by placing political opponents in the same category.

There will no doubt be legal arguments about whether this funding contributed to the criminal behavior of these groups. But there is no moral or reasonable excuse for an organization funding the very hate groups it claims to be fighting and exposing. Unless, of course, the SPLC was simply treating the “hate economy” as a business model — in which case, the growth of these groups was good for its bottom line. They got a great return on their investment while the influence and reach of these hate groups grew.

The best outcome for society would be for the SPLC to go out of business.

Hezbollah was founded in the early 1980s during the Lebanese Civil War, a period marked by intense sectarian violence. However, the group was specifically created to follow the model of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Their openly stated goals, laid out in their 1985 manifesto, included:

The destruction of Israel

The establishment of an Islamic state in Lebanon, modeled after Iran and loyal to Iran’s Supreme Leader

Hezbollah didn’t limit its attacks to Israelis. They also targeted Sunni Muslims, Christians, and Westerners — most notably killing 241 U.S. Marines in the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing.

From the beginning, Hezbollah functioned as an Iranian-backed Islamic Republic entity operating inside Lebanon, working to undermine the Lebanese state. As a direct terror proxy for Iran, it has always refused to disarm.
