Here are the 3 signals I’m watching.

1. ChatGPT wants to become your workplace

OpenAI has acquired AI presentation startup NextSlide.

The idea is simple.

Take your prompts, notes, research and documents...

...and turn them into polished, editable presentations.

At the same time, OpenAI has shut down
its standalone Atlas browser.

Instead, it’s bringing those browser capabilities
directly inside ChatGPT and Codex.

Tabs. Downloads. Navigation. Logins. Agents.

See the pattern?

OpenAI doesn’t just want ChatGPT
to answer your questions.

It increasingly wants your actual work
to happen inside ChatGPT.

That’s a much bigger ambition.

2. AI is being given more control

Anthropic is making Claude Code’s
more autonomous Auto Mode the default
for paid users from August 14.

Instead of Claude constantly asking:

“Can I do this?”

“Can I do that?”

…it keeps working unless something looks risky.

Here’s the interesting part.

In Anthropic’s testing with 1,053 paying users:

Auto Mode caught 89% of harmful actions.

Manual human approval caught just 13.6%.

Why?

Anthropic says people approve around
97% of permission requests anyway.

We get prompt fatigue.

We stop paying attention.

So ironically, giving AI more autonomy
may sometimes make it safer.

And this is where everything is heading.

Fewer prompts.
Fewer approvals.
More delegated work.

3. Human originality is becoming more valuable

AI can now create unlimited content.

Posts.
Images.
Music.
Videos.
Ideas.

Which creates an interesting second-order effect.

When content becomes infinite...

original human content becomes scarce.

X is changing creator payouts
to reward more original work.

Suno is introducing watermarking
and fingerprinting for AI-generated music.

I think creators need to pay attention here.

Using AI will become normal.

Having something genuinely yours to say
will become the differentiator.

A few other stories worth knowing:

Canva may be AI’s quiet giant

One analysis estimates Canva received
10.5 billion website visits
between May 2025 and April 2026.

ChatGPT had 64.7 billion.

Gemini, 6.9 billion.

Claude, 3.4 billion.

What fascinates me isn’t the ranking.

It’s this:

Canva didn’t ask people
to learn a new AI behaviour.

It put AI inside something
they already wanted to do.

Design.

There’s a huge product lesson there.

The best AI products may not feel
like “AI products” at all.

Companies are discovering AI has a bill

Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes
is warning companies to watch AI token costs.

Especially when agents are working continuously
in the background.

Atlassian says one of its systems
reduced token usage by 48%
while improving accuracy by 44%
in internal benchmarking.

That’s important.

The first phase of enterprise AI was:

“How much AI can we use?”

The next phase will be:

“What useful outcome are we getting
for every rupee we spend?”

Airtable is being sold

Bending Spoons has agreed
to acquire Airtable.

Enterprise value:

$1.285 billion.

Airtable was once one of Silicon Valley’s
hottest SaaS companies.

And this is another trend I’m watching closely.

Businesses are starting to ask:

“Do I really need another specialised tool?”

Or...

“Can an AI agent just do this workflow?”

That question could reshape
a lot of traditional software.

China is putting AI into physical products

Reuters reported a boom
in AI-powered consumer gadgets
coming out of Shenzhen.

One supplier says its AI Meow toy
supports 67 languages
and can be exported to more than 200 countries.

Orders reportedly reached
as high as 20,000 units a day
shortly after launch.

China’s AI advantage isn’t just models
like Qwen and DeepSeek.

It also has the manufacturing ecosystem
to turn AI into cheap physical products
very quickly.

That’s worth watching.

And India is thinking beyond AI companies

India’s Defence Ministry is reportedly discussing
ways to bring civilian specialists in:

AI.
Cybersecurity.
Information warfare.

Into the Territorial Army
while allowing them to keep
their civilian careers.

I find this particularly interesting.

It suggests AI expertise is starting
to be viewed as national capability.

Not simply another technology job.

So if I had to summarise
what’s happening right now:

AI is moving from tool → worker.

Platforms are moving from app → workspace.

And human originality is moving
from nice-to-have → advantage.

Those are the shifts I’d pay attention to.

Earlier this week I was invited by Google India to their Bengaluru office for a conversation with Josh Woodward, who leads Gemini, Google Labs, and AI Studio globally.

The gathering was small and intimate. A room full of top AI creators and educators from across India, sitting together with the team building some of the most important AI tools in the world.

What struck me immediately was the tone of the session.

This wasn’t a product presentation.

It was a conversation.

Creators sharing feedback.
Josh walking us through what’s new and what’s coming next.
And an open discussion about how people are actually using AI today.

But the most fascinating part was the data about India’s AI adoption.

A few numbers shared in the room stood out:

• India is now one of the top three countries globally using Gemini and NotebookLM.

• With Nano Banana 2, users in India generated over 100 million images in the first week alone.

• More than 2 million people in India have already generated a 30-second song using Lyria.

• India is #1. India leads the world in daily Gemini usage for learning, especially features like quizzes, flashcards, and guided learning.

• In January 2026 alone, Indian users generated over 3 million outputs in NotebookLM, including quizzes, flashcards, audio overviews, and video summaries.

Another important shift that was mentioned:

Gemini and NotebookLM are now available in more than 10 Indian languages.

This might sound like a small product update, but in reality it could dramatically accelerate AI adoption across the country.

Because AI becomes truly powerful when it reaches people in the language they think and work in.

The Real Takeaway

Here’s what stayed with me after the session.
While much of the world is still debating whether AI will take jobs…

Indians are already using it.

Using it to learn faster.
To work smarter.
To create more.

This is not passive adoption.

This is curiosity.
This is experimentation.
This is hunger.

And as someone who spends a lot of time teaching professionals and business owners how to use AI, it was incredibly encouraging to see how quickly people in India are embracing these tools.

Why This Matters

If you’re a working professional, a business owner, or a creator in India, you’re already part of this shift.

Your peers are experimenting with AI.
Your competitors are automating tasks.
Your industry is slowly being reshaped.

The real question is no longer:

“Should I learn AI?”

The real question is:

“How quickly can I start using it in my work?”

Because the tools are ready.
The access is expanding.
And the opportunity is very real.

The weekend conversation that changed everything

This weekend, I had a moment that flipped my perspective on AI... and I've decided to do something about it.

Over casual conversations with a few close friends and professionals I admire, I realized something surprising: most of them hadn't really explored the power of AI.

I'm not talking about cutting-edge tech here — even mainstream tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Grok weren't being used regularly by them or their teams until just recently.

Honestly, I was taken aback.
