Here is the first track off our new album. It’s the second iteration of a song that we’ve been playing a lot these past two years or so. This version rocks a little harder.

Beauty and Truth 2 examines the pummeling dissolution of our shared realities and the very idea of objective truth. We can’t believe our eyes. We can’t believe our ears. But we can still believe our hearts (for a little while longer at least!) Let’s nurture that and use it to develop new forms of language that the oligarchs and their machines can’t penetrate. To quote Yeats:

A little bit of trivia: Sean wrote some of the lyrics on the spot with a crucial assist from Ben, Grant was instructed to play his drums left-handed, and Preston learned the solo the night before tracking it. “Beauty and Truth 2” is now streaming wherever you listen to music.

In October we will the fantastic Murder by Death on their farewell tour. MBD is one of the best to do it, and it’s a great honor for us to share the stage with them in their final hour.

A little over five years ago we released our album Good Luck Everybody, and today we are appropriately releasing an ep of demos and a commemorative Body Terror Song inspired t-shirt made by our friend Paul.

These tunes were recorded somewhere between 2016 and 2019, a time not unlike the one we are in now. A time on Planet Earth when the ruling classes enriched themselves by robbing everyone blind; keeping the public distracted by all manner of crime, bribery, and bullshit.

Perennial as the grass, rich pricks have always hired pro wrestler politicians and racist murderers to do their dirty work. But on a rapidly heating planet, is the grass perennial anymore? Hey, did you know that in 1919 the entire city of Seattle went on strike for five days? Look that shit up, it’s neat.

Today we’re in Pensacola to kick off this upcoming run of acoustic duo shows. We’ve also added a show on November 19 in Santa Cruz at Moe’s Alley.

It’ll be fun to be a two piece again for these gigs, all scrappy and wild. Ben’s double bass is starting to break in half. We’ll see how far it gets before he has to resort to the CyberStick™ or worse yet; a student rental. We’ve been practicing, dusting off tunes that would be impossible to bring to the full band, or at least weirdly difficult. Some of these songs are easier to play than they used to be, oddly. And some, even, are still being written years after their “official” release into the world.

We are excited to play with our fantastic friends Sewerbitch! and Pigeon Pit. On Saturday Sewerbitch! will be releasing two new songs that Sean produced and recorded, check em out! And while you’re at it, check this Pigeon Pit Spring 2024 cassingle, Sean recorded Stone Song.

Mike and Dave were some of the first people to hear Disposable Everything, and listening to this beautiful song will always bring me back to the Minneapolis greenroom where Mike showed us the beat for the first time. They took a silly song about a wedding present and created a complex meditation on the love of family. Please enjoy!

We just released a new single called “Best Of All Possible Worlds”, featuring Kimya Dawson and Kool Keith. I am still so completely astonished that we got to make this thing. Kimya and Keith are legendary artists I’ve looked up to since the year 2000, thanks to Napster and Skate & Destroy for Playstation. They’ve informed my sensibilities and influenced AJJ's approach in many ways. It means a lot to work with them.

We began recording this song during the first sessions for Disposable Everything and finished it a few weeks ago. I am enamored with how this song turned out.

Everyone played everything and Everyone did a great job.
Especially producer/mixer David “Deep Dreem” Jerkovich. With his powers of sonic illusion, David LITERALLY created more time and space to hold the weight of Keith and Kimya’s verses; saving the song from caving in on itself like a dying star.

The tune itself is a musing and lyrical round robin that touches on such themes as death in the multiverse, the many worlds artists can create, and the struggle for Palestinian liberation.

Is this the best of all possible worlds? Voltaire already answered this question with Candide: Hell no it isn't.
But getting to make this song with these lovely people made it feel like it is for a little while.
