Yes yes, it’s the classic girl NY haze that happens in August – the good old New Year, New Me.

You can think what you want about it – I’m surely gonna ride the energy wave for as long as I can. With my head spinning with inspiration and ideas, here are a few things that’s on top of my mind.

10 things I can’t get out of my head.

1. Suits

I’ve always been drawn to tailoring. When studying design it was always my favourite garments to make and the obsession has followed me ever since. A relaxed fit suit and sneakers somehow has become the look I feel most like myself in – comfortable, effortlessly empowered and ready for anything. This autumn I will focus on adding a few new ones to my wardrobe, I’m thinking a navy one, a camel or perhaps a checked one. We have a few great ones coming up at ARKET, but my dream would be to finally get my hands on a Phoebe Philo suit…maybe one day.

2. Autumn shoes

Nothing says autumn like a pair of new loafers. Our brilliant footwear team at ARKET has made a new version of the best selling loafer from spring – in brown croco. Can’t wait to wear them with a thin sock, bare legs and Bermuda shorts for a perfect back-to-work-look.

3. Sturebadet membership

In true spirit of new (girl) year, new me I’m contemplating applying for a membership at Sturebadet, the renowned wellness center in the heart of Stockholm. Turning 40 I feel my body shifting; I all of a sudden struggle to build muscles, I stiffen in my back and hips and gain weight more easily. As I very much would like to softly support my body through all kind of shifts, I feel the need of a new wellness strategy to meet this new phase – one that is based on love, longevity, physical and mental strength and premiers stress relief more than before. Having the privilege of spending a day at Sturebadet on my birthday I was shown around the facilities, the different saunas, the cold bath, the beautiful pool, the gym and breakfast all felt like stepping into an oasis in the middle of the buzzing city. Although expensive, I feel like autumn 2026 needs to be a season of wellness for me, and this might be just what I need to make that change. When I think of the long dark winter that’s coming cosying up in that sauna after a cold bath, I feel a calm happiness spreading in my entire being.

4. Vävaren i Båstad Bedlinen

If you follow me on Instagram I’m sure you haven’t missed our stay at Pensionat Furuhem earlier this week. Magnus Nilsson, the brilliant mind and hands behind two star Michelin restaurant Fäviken, has restored an old Inn back to its original state, with every detail of the interior and the food being Swedish, quality crafted, and handpicked. The feeling of the place is familiar, welcoming, calm and traditional. Furuhem reminds me of Ett Hem in Stockholm, yet the countryside version, and offers the most beautiful and inspiring stay. Throughout the Inn the use of textiles is exquisite – all of them coming from the local producer Vävaren I Båstad. Since leaving I haven’t been able to get the magical bedlinen out of my head. It basically felt like sleeping on a cloud. I got the kitchen towels before leaving Båstad, but will def get the white bedlinen as well (as soon as my finances allow).

5. Over-the-top pinky rings

I have been obsessing over pinky rings since Zuzana Spustova launched her diamond stacks back in 2015. To me it’s the chicest thing, having a heavy stack on your pinky – like a feminine version of a signet. My latest hangup is finding a large, flat vintage ring filled with diamonds and wearing it on my pinky as a cocktail ring. Imagine something like the Rainbow K ring Blanca Miro wears. I saw this emerald and diamond ring in the window at Kaplans the other day and can’t get it out of my head… Dear Santa?

6. Life in Colour & Form, Barbro & Robert Nilsson, Millesgården 12 sep

Millesgården has slowly positioned itself as one of, if not the, best museum in Sweden. Celebrating creativity, curiosity and collaboration, they show interesting names, curating their exhibitions in playful and inviting ways and are very generous with the space that is Milles artistic home and studio, creating interesting meetings between artists and expressions. You can tell it’s run by people how truly love art and want to share their awe with their visitors. On the 12th of September Millesgården open its doors to a new retrospective exhibition on the artist couple Robert and Barbro Nilsson. Barbro Nilsson, a favourite of mine, was a pioneering textile artist with international influence and creative director at AB Märta Måås-Fjetterström (AB MMF). Robert Nilsson was a sculptor and a student of Carl Milles. This is truly a highlight come autumn – I can’t wait to visit!

7. Beautiful everyday glasses

Visiting both Ett Hem and Furuhem recently, I have come to think a lot about tableware. There is something very poetic about using the finest, well crafted pieces everyday – making the ordinary more beautiful. I mean, I love our Duralex glasses that we currently have, adding the most charming French feeling to our kitchen. However, I can’t stop thinking about the water glasses at Ett Hem, handblown beauties from Åre Glashytta. Perfect in shape, with that stunning uniqueness that only handmade things have. I think an order might be about to happen…

8. Kitchen renovation

When we bought our apartment 6 years ago the previous owners had renovated the kitchen just a few years before. I really don’t like it – white, anonymous and made out of dead materials. As much as we disliked it, we couldn’t justify ripping out a new, fully functioning kitchen just because we didn’t approve of the aesthetics. So, we let it be. However, now, after almost 10 years since the last renovation, we feel it’s finally time to do something about it. We are very drawn to the meeting between materials, solid wood and steel, and find ourselves very inspired by the Artilleriet kitchen at Ostrongården. We have a first consultation booked later this month and I. Can’t. Freaking. Wait.

9. Old Céline jewellery

After doing a traditional wardrobe clean-out this summer, neatly folding everything in, selling a few items and writing a list of what’s missing, I feel I need a few more jewellery pieces to play around with when creating looks. Mainly earrings, but it could also be a brooch or a necklace. Being a big fan of Old Céline (surprise), I will search for all these pieces second hand. The sculptural Céline pearl earrings above I found for a bargin and they are on their way to me as we speak. Mighty good start to my jewellery project.

10. Oil Cleanser

I’m a big fan of everything that Alex Eagle puts in her shop, this being my latest obsession – Fig Milk Oil Body Cleanser from 39BC. Being a person with dry skin I think this will be right up my alley. Will def pick it up this autumn when I go to London. (yes I know, I could by one online rn, BUT I’m that kind of old school girly who loves to shop for small things like this when travelling – so sue me)

When the industrial revolution hit, making things by hand became a thing of the past – something still valued, yes, but highly outdated. Mass production, standardisation and speed became the name of the game. Now apply today’s AI to this equation and the process is multiplied – yet with this rapid change on one side of the spectrum, something else happens on the other side. Craft, the ugly duckling of the industrial age, is suddenly turning into a swan. The cold, calculating and maximising technology of today has, indirectly, created a deep yearning for real human connection. That’s where craft sweeps in as a symbol for humanity; representing the non-perfect, the slow, unique and intentional – carrying beautiful traces of the hand and stories about the people who made it. It’s like the energy within a handcrafted item somehow has a higher density – a purer vibration and inner power – drawing us in, allowing us to connect. With our authentic self, with the products we surround ourselves with, and to the people around us. Which is basically all I long for these days.

I think (and hope) that this longing is collective. If I have this feeling, you must have it too, right?

Digging into the word itself, craft interestingly enough originates from the Old English word cræft, which meant physical power, might or strength. During the Middle Ages, as people applied their personal power and energy to tasks, the meaning slowly shifted to describe one’s art or skill, and later a specific occupation requiring manual dexterity. I find it strikingly beautiful and naturally explanatory that the skill of handicraft once came from the word might. The powerful process of crafting an item transfers to the object itself in the making, which in turn transferes to anyone surrounding it. Energy travels, my friends, and craft might just be the most powerful tool to both store and share it.

Within fashion there have been plenty of signs of creatives and brands turning to craft – as a resistance towards the massive digital expansion, as a place for creative minds to be reinvigorated, or perhaps as a future business strategy. Either way, this summer Chanel made their intention beautifully clear when acquiring 188-year-old historic French shirtmaker Charvet on July 2. Charvet, being the world’s oldest shirtmaker and a true beacon of Parisian handmade luxury, is highly respected for its quality, integrity and authenticity. Through this acquisition, Chanel strengthens its position as a house of craftsmanship, actively working towards preserving manufacturing and cultural heritage across the luxury sector in France.

Another great advocate for craft is Jonathan Anderson, the most ingenious Creative Director currently active, some might argue. In 2016 he founded Loewe Foundation Craft Prize. The prize aims to highlight the continuing contribution of craft to the culture of our time. It supports international artisans who demonstrate an exceptional ability to create contemporary objects using crafted methods, reflecting its maker’s personal language and distinct hand. Again, a longing to put craft in focus, praising its unique beauty and the makers behind it. Anderson’s love for craft is widely know within the industry, which might explain the project’s initiation, but the brand positioning it created turned out to be widely successful as well. Under Anderson’s lead, Loewe transformed from a quiet, traditional leather goods house into a dominant cultural and avant-garde global fashion powerhouse. Emphasising artistic craftsmanship played a vital part in that journey.

As Anderson moved to Dior in the spring of 2025, he has continued to lead with craft. Under his lead a lot of Dior’s storytelling now comes from a behind-the-scenes angle: showing the work that is done in the atelier, pleating fabrics, hand painting florals, all whilst Anderson’s voice over talks about fashion, his ideas and the process of making. These videos are pure goosebump-material and I’m sure a safe ticket to elevating Dior as a brand in the long run. Anderson knows that craft will make all the difference in this new era we’re living in – it will be what customers want, the only thing that actually holds true value and is worth peoples admiration and money.

A few other brands leading with craft.

However, it’s not only large high-end brands like Chanel and Dior that are jumping on the craft-wagon. Independent smaller brands are also gravitating towards putting the actual craftsmanship of their products in focus, yearning for an expression that is humanly unique and a method of working that is slower and more sustainable.

Underwater Weaving

Founded by artist Erin Pollard, Underwater Weaving Studio makes stunning baskets which have quickly become the latest obsession of every chic influencer. Growing up in Maine in the 1980s and 90s Pollard experienced a golden era of craftsmanship – a time when her artisan mother Peggy created a basket collection for L.L.Bean (a not-too-shabby legacy to have when indulging in basketweaving). Underwater Weaving celebrates Peggy’s deep knowledge of material and Erin’s modern aesthetic, join together to re-offer craft as a portal for power through the language of the hands. Each basket is a functional object, but also a physical testament to the life-sustaining energy of the gatherer – reminders to slow down, to hold, and to reconnect with what it means to make something real. You simply have to be a fool not to get a total hangup of these woven beauties. Obviously I want them all, but the big shopper in black and a pair of the bounty utility basket in smoked rattan to store bedlinen in our closets are right on top of my list. Devine.

Tekla

You might know the Danish brand Tekla by their lovely bedlinen, towels and PJs, successfully balancing quality and fashionability. But the brand is slowly growing into something else. In June, during 3daysofdesign, Copenhagen’s urban design festival, Tekla showed The Heart of Living, an exhibition that continued the brand’s exploration of heirloom crafts. The love for craft and Nordic heritage has always been a part of Tekla’s DNA, however it was not until last year that they first initiated a deeper visual connection to it, with the exhibition Modern Romance.

With The Heart of Living Tekla pays homage to its own background and inspirations, with special pieces inspired by antique Swedish designs and old-world bedding. Magnificent quilts were specially made and hung on the walls, using traditional patchwork techniques and patterns – each quilt consisting of cotton bedding in colourways taken from Tekla’s archive. Throughout the exhibition, a few completely stunning, specially made beds could also be found, inspired by box beds, or cabin beds. These enclosed constructions were typical in 19th-century rural and working-class Scandinavian homes due to their warmth and privacy. The beds, all made in Copenhagen from local pine, and the quilts tell a powerful story of Tekla’s values and future direction. They are guided by the craftsmanship star.

Christen

Nina Christen is one of the most influential designers in luxury footwear. Over two decades, she designed for Céline under Phoebe Philo, Bottega Veneta under Daniel Lee, The Row as well as Dior under Jonathan Anderson. The hands behind The Lido Sandal, The Puddle Boot and the Balloon Pump, her work defined how a generation of women think about shoes. After twenty years inside the industry, she finally decided to start her own universe of shoes. Obviously, it was an immediate thing, the Mono Straps going straight up to the top of at least my wish list.

However, what excited me even more than the shoes (if possible), was her release of a tiny range of staple garments. Especially a made-in-Japan T-shirt crafted on a rare vintage loop knitting machine, brought to Japan in the early 1900s. The machine takes up to 3-4 days to produce a single roll of soft luxurious jersey fabric, a quality that can’t be reproduced elsewhere in the world. To me, taking something as essential as a T-shirt and crafting it using a slow traditional method – making the basic become the new luxury – is pure genius. Again, we see one of the most brilliant creative minds lead with craftsmanship. Without the special manufacturing and quality this would just be another T-shirt. Instead it becomes a piece to treasure.

So what I’m saying…

I hope and believe, with all my heart, that craft, long considered something traditional and dusty from the past, might in fact be the future of manufacturing. To me, craft represents the epitome of modernity; bringing humanity, authenticity and connection to the world of products, and perhaps, to life itself.

Being a child that was heavily engaged in day dreaming and constantly navigating a (far too) rich inner life, my perceived reality has always felt dominant over real life. I have in many ways lived a life consumed and guided by how I feel on the inside, rather than being led by what I am expected to be. This mentality, combined with the feeling of mentally growing younger and younger each year, results in absolutely zero anxiety when I now turn 40 in a week. Because I am and you know what? It feels exciting and beautiful. I feel blessed to still be here, fully functional and highly engaged in life. With that said, female ageing, in the time of social media, filters and injections, is a slippery slope. Although my values are firmly anchored in myself, I constantly need to make sure I don’t go off track. I guess you can all relate. It happens so easily. Being a person who talks with my entire face, maybe I should get my forehead fixed? The wrinkles are starting to go quite deep now… Or the lines running down my nose? They really make me look sad… Obviously these things are on my mind, daily.

However, I have decided to go to war against the perfect female ideal of today.

As you can expect, it’s a constant battle against outside artillery as well as inside Trojan horses. In this battle, the one for my own truth, I find it helpful to define a toolbox of supportive means – things that help me keep a steady course. Below is my list of talismans that protect me from faltering.

Yeah yeah I know, a designer that loves a mood board... But let me tell you, there are few things more efficient when it comes to staying on track. Having a visual representation of what beauty means to me makes the entire difference. I have a folder on Pinterest as well as on Instagram where I save inspiration for my personal style – aging just happens to be part of it. Because aging can be extremely chic, don’t you agree? The key in my book is to, as per usual, focus on dressing amazingly and feeling great. Having a strong point of view and dressing fabulously balances whatever wrinkles and loose skin you might have going on. It will always be, again; in my book, more interesting to have great style, than to have a perfectly sculpted face. In a utopia I would naturally have both, but that is not the reality of things. So, when social media feeds occasionally blur my mind, I browse through my folders. This immediately puts me back on track.

There is also a shift in age amongst fashion models right now. Brands like Chanel, Bottega and Tom Ford have included visibly older models in their latest shows and I have to say it all feels refreshingly modern. It’s most definitely a revolt against the last decade’s ageless sameness – a message saying let’s bring back personality and character. This new “come as you are” approach aligns perfectly with me entering my forties and even if I have always liked the idea of me getting older, I will gladly accept any help on the way. Lord knows a girl needs it.

Grey hair.

My hair has always been a struggle for me. Naturally very curly I have spent a lifetime trying to tame it. But somehow the grey hair, which appeared in my early thirties, never bothered me. I haven’t coloured my hair since I was in my teens and I nonchalantly cut it myself once every half year with the kitchen scissors – my husband kindly helping to correct the worst in the back, bless his heart. Maybe my forties are when I give in completely, keeping it both grey AND curly? I sense a personal resolution coming…well, time will tell. Anyway I long for the time when my hair will be completely transformed, praying I will be one of the lucky ones having it turn all white. The beauty!

Skincare but no injections (for me).

I’m not against injections or plastic surgery by any means. I praise women’s freedom to choose for themselves and doing whatever makes them feel great about themselves. Hell, I even tried botox once and loved it! However, as tempting as it is, and believe me it truly is from time to time, I stay away from having work done to my appearance. Mainly due to two things. 1) I want to try to celebrate my own evolution of beauty, at any age. This mindset makes me feel grounded and connected to some sort of personal authenticity. 2) I don’t like the idea of opening (a very expensive) door and not being able to close it again. I know you can quit at any time, but honestly would I ever want to once getting into it? It simply makes me feel claustrophobic having too many routines and expenses to uphold. I want as little as possible to maintain, in general in life, to be able to feel free. I find it much more fun to spend that money on an amazing suit, an artwork or a beautiful pair of shoes. That said, I am obsessed with skincare and take any chance at exfoliating and hydrating my skin to maintain a healthy glow. Swings and roundabouts one might think and yes, you're obviously right. But it’s about living one’s own personal truth right? And this is mine.

Jewellery.

My grandma always put on jewellery before “going out to meet the world” – every morning the same procedure: earrings, necklace and all her rings. She was beautiful. To me, jewellery is becoming more and more important as I age. I see it as a way to adorn and celebrate oneself – decorating aging hands with the finest pieces one knows. Is there anything more charming? You know the stunning French or Italian women going to the beach in a fab swimsuit, silk headscarf and gold jewellery? That’s who I’m becoming.

Filling your life with meaning.

You know what I think is the most important thing in this whole mess of aging? Continuing to live a passionate and meaningful life. That thing right there simply makes you beautiful right off. And no, I don’t mean merely on the inside (although that weighs in of course). I mean actual physical beauty. It’s something about a full heart and inspired soul, sort of radiating from your body. You can see it in a person’s eyes, feel it in their presence. Add good sleeping habits and lots of laughter and you're basically 30 in my eyes. This is how I’m approaching the next decade of my life. And frankly I can’t wait!

1. Skirt Suits

The one thing I can’t get out of my mind – a matching jacket and a knee length skirt. Yes, it’s very much thanks to Mr Blazy at Chanel but also the 80’s trend that has a hold of us – so chic. Toteme charcoal melange suit set. Chanel chocolate brown set. Chanel beige checked set. Dagmar leather set.

2. Chanel Heels

While we’re on the topic of Chanel – they released Mattieu Blazy’s first collection last week in Paris and I apparently it was total mayhem in stores. I desperately want a pair of heels – such a beautiful reinterpretation of the brand’s heritage.

3. A Great Necklace

We just released a beautiful pearl necklace at ARKET. I just ordered both the white and black one – such a simple yet impactful piece to add to your outfit this spring.

4. Sculptures

My dear friends at Galerie Storm have done it yet again – the plaster sculpture Resting Nude is a true beauty. It would look completely divine on the window pane in our living room…

5. Neutral Sticky-Notes

Call me a nerd, but ever since I got a pretty notebook (best thing I have gotten myself in years btw) I have a thing for sticky-notes. Obviously I can’t stand the neon ones, so beige ones or these transparent ones are my go-to. Love them!

6. Spring Flats

Few things give me butterflies like thinking about spring weather, swept streets (if you’re a Swede you know what I mean) and open shoes. Oh the joy! Softly unconstructed ballerina ARKET, glossy leather ballerinas Toteme, soft lace-up shoes á la Celine Massimo Dutti and last but def not least – dreamiest loafers that just came back in stock.

7. Visor Sunglasses

I’m not the one for to extreme sunglasses. However, did you see the AW26 visor sunnies from Celine? As fashion is going more classic and somewhat ladylike, more edgy accessories are key to keep the look contemporary.

8. Hydrating Super-Serum

I love serums. being a person with very dry skin, especially as season shifts, hydration is my numer one go-to. So, imagine my excitement when the amazing team at Verso sent me their newest deeply hydrating serum Super Eco Soothe Serum. Filled with exosomes and niacinamide it plumps, soothe and hydrates the skin. I’ve only used it for a few days, but I saw and more importantly felt a difference in my skin after just a night. Adding it to my favourites directly.

9. Braided Belts

Part of the preppy trend is that we’re seeing a lot of braided belts coming back into fashion. Seen at Tory Burch AW26, but also already in store at The Row and my fave London brand Alex Eagle. Need one to wear with my 501’s.

10. Tickets

I love having a good amount of cultural events to attend each season. It’s one of the ways in which I restore energy – absorbing the precious energy and beauty of an opera or exhibition. This Sunday I had the immense pleasure to gather with the lovely women of Arts & Tea to watch the movie Hamnet and I recommend everyone to go see it. What an experience. If you’re in Stockholm I also recommend getting tickets to Rosas Il Cimento dell'Armonia e dell'Inventione at Dansens Hus 24-25th of March, as well as going to see Diana Orving’s Celestial Bodies at Millesgården – divine.

However, this season, I think Mattieu Blazy at Chanel made a very interesting point that transcends the world of couture. With his first ever couture collection he made a hommage to daywear, just like Coco Chanel once did – it was “clothes for women to go to work, to go to a play, the cinema, whatever” he said after the show. His work was centered around reality – the opposite of traditional couture. He actually took a lot of beating for this approach from raging social media outlets, who called the collection boring and “too RTW”. However, these commenters are missing the point. What Blazy did was he took the world of couture and made it feel relatable. He shifted the focus from a dress-up spectacle and instead, making it all about the woman who wears it – her life, her needs and the longings she has. With the collection he clearly stated that the ultimate luxury today is daywear – a very exquisite version of it, yet still daywear. And his message really resonated with me, clearly as a person that has no participation in the world of couture, but as I think it says something about the times we are living in.

Even RTW, with its outrageous price points, has disconnected from reality over the last years. When a garment costs the amount of a couple of month’s salaries, what, honestly, is the point anymore? It is def not luxury, just loony. It all has a very Marie Antoinette “let them eat cake” vibe – the connection to the real world is completely lost. And with that spell broken, what is left is a growing lack of desire – due to the prices, but also due to the fact that we are flooded with objects that claim meaning without holding it. Instead of the carousel of high-fashion, we turn to regular clothes as an antidote.

Authentic and functional garments, beautifully crafted yet fairly priced, become symbols of the zeitgeist and, to be frank, of sanity.

I don’t know about you, but among the pieces that feel the most luxurious in my wardrobe are not the most expensive ones. Or the high-end dresses I take out a few times a year. On the contrary, it is more likely my crisp shirts, my perfectly fitting jeans and delicate lace underwear. You know, the pieces that fits like a glove, feels nice on your skin (to the point that you don’t think about them when wearing) – the ones you reach for the most, making you feel effortlessly beautiful. And don’t even get me started on the perfect white T-shirt – is there anything more rare or mystified than this garment? Finding THE ONE has to be one of the most premium experiences there is?! To me, these pieces – the perfect stapels – represent a kind of profound luxury because they inject themselves into our everyday life, elevating its core experience.

The traditional world of luxury, like going into high-end stores, has very much lost its allure. Waiting in line outside to then have a very non-personal experience… I don’t know guys. I’m not feeling it. It’s basically the same retail experience and machinery of consumption as at any high-street brand. Even though the products are more qualitative or considerate, at the end of the day it leaves me with the same feeling. Although I crave some of the beautiful pieces created by these brands, I’d rather find them pre-loved a few months later at Vestiaire.

Speaking about pre-loved and vintage, I had the most luxurious store experience ever two weekends ago in Paris. If you read my Paris guide, you know about Preclothed – the little boutique specialising in premium vintage like Hermes, Céline and Elsa Peretti jewellery. Entering their store felt like stepping into another world – one of real luxury. Because they are a small size company, they can skip all the middle layers. The creators work in the store and therefore the experience is very intimate and transparent.

The owners are true fashion nerds, in the best possible way. Collectors to the core, they are the most knowledgeable people I have ever met. You know the combs used in the The Row’s Pre-Fall 2026 collection? All vintage, sourced by Preclothed. The vintage objects curated and sold on The Row’s E-com? Same thing there. They have one of the largest private collections of Margiela for Hermès, which regularly gets rented by high-end fashion brands for inspiration. During men’s AW26 fashion week, they put on a vintage Hermès by Margiela exhibition in the store, inviting collectors and journalists to the event. THIS is luxury to me – the small intimate scale, the deep knowledge and the feeling of true passion, humbly shared in encounters with customers. As I was leaving the store (with the most beautiful Gianfranco Ferre wool trenchcoat from the 1980s) it struck me:

The fashion entusiast. led by knowledge, is on the rise – and the traditional luxury consumer, led only by trend, is outdated.

I always marvel at the impact a city weekend has on me – injecting inspiration, perspective, romance and energy. There is just something about being surrounded by that intense density of culture and movement. It’s like my body absorbs the feel of it all, filling me with presence and this overwhelming feeling of being alive. Although the trip was only for one night, we took the first flight out Saturday morning and the last one home Sunday evening, it charged me with enough fuel to keep me going until spring decides to return to Sweden (sooner rather than later, I hope).

If you are planning a trip to Paris, here is my go-to list of things to see and places to be. Enjoy!

Stay

Maison Athénée – I was advised to try this little boutique hotel by one of the chicest women I know, Therese Bassler, so for this trip we did – and were delighted. It’s located by the Opera, close to Place Vendôme and the Ritz, so not the best location for dinners, which we tend to enjoy closer to Marais or Saint Germain, but great for shopping and culture. The hotel is very French – red velvet, dimmed lights, charming wallpaper and simple crisp white bedding. Yes, the shower smells a bit damp, yet it was a delight to stay there. Ask for a room on the top floor and opposite the elevator (it’s a bit noisy) and you’ll have a lovely experience.

Hotel Bourg Tibourg – our favourite stay in Paris. This boutique hotel is the friendliest little gem, squeezed in on a quiet street at the outskirts of Marais, close to Rue de Rivoli, making it the perfect location for anything you might want to explore. The rooms are heavily decorated and tiny, yet it somehow adds to its French charm. Disclaimer: don’t bring your biggest suitcase – it simply won’t fit in the room.

L’atelier Brancusi – Sculptures have a way of mesmerising me, more so than art on a canvas. Possibly because their three dimensional shapes have a resemblance to the bodies of fashion, which is my core creative language. The reconstruction of Constantin Brancusi’s art studio, which he in his will bequeathed to the French state, is a true gem to experience and is quick to pass through as the space is small.

Fondation Louis Vuitton – Opened in 2014, the space has quickly established itself as a contemporary spot for art. The spectacular building by architect Frank Gehry houses large solo exhibitions of some of the world’s most renowned artists. I couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming Alexander Calder show, opening its doors on April 15.

Bourse de Commerce, the Pinault Collection – One of the most intense art experiences I have ever had was in this building. During the summer of 2025 the multi-sensorial installation “clinamen” by artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot transformed the rotunda of the building into a spiritual space. Simple ceramic bowls gently floated across a large basin of water, reflecting the sky seen through the museum’s dome, generating melodious almost chanting sounds as light currents pushed them along. My husband and I were there for what felt like forever. The museum has its own interesting collection, but they also invite contemporary artists to create special pieces for the space. Make sure to set aside some time, as this is truly a marvel.

Palais Garnier – Let me tell you a story. When my husband and I got married we travelled to Paris and London for our honeymoon. As we planned the trip we were so excited to realise that Opera Garnier had their big opening of the ballet season on the last day of our stay in Paris. However, tickets were sold out and I was heartbroken to miss this very special occasion. Imagine my surprise when they called from the Opera a few days into our trip, saying they had two “premium cancellations” and that the tickets were ours if we wanted them! My husband had emailed them after seeing my heartbroken reaction, bless his soul, asking them to reach out if there were cancellations. So, on the last evening of our trip we attended the opening gala for the Paris ballet season, sitting in the royal box, built for Napoleon III’s wife. Four contemporary pieces, by four female choreographers, were performed and Chanel had made the costumes. It was one of the most magical nights of my life. If you ever get around to Paris, the opera is where you need to be.

Make sure to pre-book all tickets, not to waste time standing in lines. My best advise is to go to any museum right when they open in the mornings, avoiding too much people.

Shop

The Broken Arm – The coolest store in Paris. Go there to browse a top-level selection of high-end brands like Prada and Lemaire, pick up something from the gift shop, grab a takeaway coffee from their little cafe or just look at the well-dressed people that circle the shop. Their curation says something about where tendencies are heading.

Ofr Bookshop – Just around the corner from Broken Arm is this little hideout. Stacked with all the latest fashion mags, art books and literary vintage selection, this place is a must every time I go to Paris. The titles they carry tell the story about contemporary life, pressing issues and collective longings. It’s also the place where people like Sofia Coppola have their book signings – do I need to say anything more? Go there, pick up a beautiful book for yourself, or buy a gift for a friend.

Dover Street Parfums Market – As a person who gets overwhelmed in a Sephora store, this is right up my alley. A calm and curated space for skincare and beauty. Go there to pick up a new perfume, a bar soap, incense or treat yourself to an overnight face mask.

Hermès – Needs no further introduction. However the flagship store at Rue Saint-Honoré is THE one to go to for the full experience. Pop in to pick up a lip balm or nail polish and enjoy them wrapping it in boxes and silk paper like you were buying a Birkin.

Rubirosa’s – Over at the left bank you’ll find a few treasures when it comes to shopping – Rubirosa’s being one of the latest. Opened in June last year, the goal of owner Lauren Rubinski was “to bring back the small shop, the kind you used to find when you travelled to Italy or France, where you would say It’s on the little street to the left, then to the right and inside they have the best of everything”. And she has succeeded in creating just that – a small quality store, specialising in soft leather flats, cashmere sweaters, perfect shirts and cotton PJ’s – all in 15 different colours. It’s the opposite of quiet luxury, something that is enhanced by the Wes Anderson-esque decor. I bought a pair of cognac croco flats and let me tell you, after wearing them to the office last week I want to go back for at least one more pair.

Maison Krasnova – I guess it hasn’t escaped anyone that pillbox hats are making a comeback? Well, the chicest place to get them is here. The combined studio and store space offers a wide and trendy range of handcrafted hats and headscarfs, seen on all the Parisian cool girls.

Pharmacie Bac Verneuil – I always love a good French pharmacy, stacking up on skincare favourites whenever I pass by. This particular one also happens to carry the biggest assortment of handmade French hair accessories. It’s basically a modern day candy shop. Each piece costs around 25 euro – perfect for treating yourself and picking up a gift or two.

Preclothed – Last by definitely not least, possible the best vintage shop in Europe and my absolute hangup. The owner is the most inspiring of fashion nerds, collecting old treasures from Margiela’s time at Hermes. This is the place where The Row designers shop for inspiration for their collections. It’s heaven. It’s also pricy, so enter at your own risk.

Eat & Drink

Bar Hemingway – Hidden at the back entrance of Hotel Ritz is this calm, heritage, institution of a bar. Might be my preppy background or just the feeling of nostalgia that makes me love this place so much. The drinks are lovely and their Europ-Felix snack stands have been on the top of my wish list ever since being there the first time.

La Petite Chaise – I read about this place before the trip and decided to book it for my husband’s birthday dinner Saturday night. Very French, with a grumpy host and some misunderstandings around our order (yes, we drank negronis with our pâté), we ended up having one of the best evenings ever in Paris. The food was superbly traditional and the setting charming. I highly recommend.

Parcelles – Casually elegant, this is the place to go for dinner. If you are a Stockholmer you will understand when I say Parcelle is the Babette of Paris. The food is excellent, the wine list great and the crowd fun to watch.

Brasserie Lipp – I couldn’t write a list without adding Lipp, I simply adore the place too much. Everything from the waiters’ constant banter, the beautiful wall tiles and them miraculously getting me a slice of tarte tatin even though they were out of it – you just can’t beat it. Go there for Saturday or Sunday lunch and soak up chic Parisian families gathering to eat and listen to the room sing. To be honest, the food is generally so-so, but the vibe is always excellent.

As with the museums, pre-book all restaurants for the best experience. A walk-in is usually impossible.

I think we all felt it when Awar Odhiang closed the SS26 Chanel show, in one of the most memorable fashion moments in what feels like a very long time. Odhiang joyously walked the room, infectiously smiling, clapping and dancing her way over to Creative Director Matthieu Blazy, to the roaring approval of the audience. The show was Blazy’s first for the house, and with it you could feel a clear manifestation of what his time at Chanel will be all about. Yes, of course about great garments and paying hommage to the original spirit of Coco Chanel, but maybe more so about this fresh new feeling – of pure happiness, personality and authenticity.

After the show, a backstage video was shared where you saw the entire Chanel team hugging in happy tears. All the hard work, adrenaline and collective energy simply pouring out of everyone in the purest of ways. The short yet powerful film caused an emotional wave online and moved the fashion crowd to tears. Chanel might not have been the strongest collection of the season, yet it definitely was this season’s highlight. I think it says something about the new era we’re entering, where cultural relevance will be based on emotional intelligence and meaningful connections, more than savvy concepts and complex designs. The whole energy around Blazy’s Chanel felt REAL and that’s what got to people.

For Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 Métiers d’Art Blazy continued on the same path. The fashion was good, yet the story that really caught on was the one about model Bhavitha Mandava, opening the show. After moving to NYC from India to study, only two years ago, Blazy was the first person to work with Mandava. She walked for him at Bottega Veneta and when he moved to Chanel she came with him. Their bond, which they very sweetly open the door to online, speaks about a new and softer kind of professional relationship and a mutual loving respect. Again, it feels very real – like a more humane way of moving through life and building connections.

Another thing that got my attention last week was all the articles about the shift in Instagram’s algorithms for 2026. It was all over my feed. Having previously rewarded likes and amount of followers, they will now prioritise authentic engagement, building community, DM conversations, saving and regramming posts. Educational and inspirational content is meant to thrive. As sceptical as one might feel towards anything that even has an algorithm from the beginning, I def see a pattern here. We’re fed up by the speed and quantity of it all. Actually, so fed up that we go looking for other, more qualitative media to share our content – enter Substack. In 2026 the longing to consume real stories by genuine people is steering us into a more authentic landscape.

Matthieu Blazy is spot on. He has created not only a fresh take on the aesthetic world of Chanel, but more so a modern mood – hopeful, inclusive and joyous. It strikes a chord in the fashion community not because of its revolutionary designs, but because it mirrors the collective longing for a kinder, more authentic world. I, for one, would love to spend time in this new smiling and casually chic universe of Chanel and can’t wait to follow the new path of emotional connections.

Our homes and wardrobes are very much an extension of ourselves. This means the energy of the pieces we bring into our lives are crucial for how we feel. Having too much can be overwhelming and the wrong items can feel like an itch. Saving too many old things can mean holding onto burden and unnecessary negativity, like the trousers you outgrew years back but just might fit in once you lose those pounds… We are in constant dialogue with the things that surrounds us and a new year is the perfect time to reflect on that conversation and initiate a fresh start.

The other day, the brilliant people behind L’Etiquette magazine posted their style resolutions for 2026. Their Womenswear Fashion Editor Lolita Jacobs really got me. Her resolution is “Edit down, in pursuit of my uniform”. This is exactly my wish – getting to the core of my own visual expression, in this case my style, keeping only the perfect pieces. Simplify dressing to leave room for other, more interesting things to fill my life.

The process of reducing with intention has always been ongoing for me, selling things I don’t use anymore to leave room for new items. You know, the classic one-in-one-out thinking. It all crescendoed two years ago when I changed jobs. As any major change in life it sparked new ways of looking at things and that certain clarity that just comes with change. Since then I have edited and added to my wardrobe in a reflective and creative loop. Explored my style in this new era, learnt and having to unlearn things about myself. Yet now, with the year of the snake ending, it’s time to shed skin and step into something new. A tighter and more focused way of looking at my style.

I realise that for me, editing down to an authentic core is very much about going back to my roots. I spent 12 years working weekends at Levi’s, from the age of 15 and throughout all of my studies, which basically means I grew up wearing 501s. My rather large vintage collection of 501s, perfectly worn in, have however become too small as I gained a size over time. I have added a few loose fit denims over the years, but mainly I just haven’t been wearing denim as much as before. However, last week I had an epiphany as I finally tried on a new pair of 1990s 501s – I felt completely at home. It’s funny how some garments do that to you, makes you look exactly how you feel on the inside. This moment unlocked something within myself – a feeling of being true to my own roots. And let me tell you, it felt great.

It also made me think about another garment I have been in a relationship with for a long time – the shirt. After I graduated and left Levi’s, I started working as a designer at GANT. Under the brilliant mentoring of Creative Director Christopher Bastin I learnt the history of original sportswear, fell in love with vintage as well as the nerdiness of shirts. Thread count, perfectly constructed collars, beautifully shaped hems, balanced placement of the shirt buttons to show just the right amount of skin when undone. I wore shirts almost every day for my entire time at GANT, which lasted almost nine years. My favourites are the really worn-in ones. High thread count poplins which become more like silks when you wash them or loosely woven thin oxfords, just slightly steamed, getting that perfect casual look. Oh how I love them!

I started looking back through my instagram (the modern day source of one’s own style, right?) and there it was – picture after picture with the same kind of look. Jeans and shirts – my original uniform. Always worn with ballerinas or feminine flats for that play between masculinity and femininity I love so much. And you know what I felt? Relief. For the simplicity and authenticity of it all.

Excited about my newfound clarity I collected some other photos, realising my love for men’s inspired tailoring goes way back as well. I simply love a great suit – worn together or split up into separates, styled with a little heel or with sneakers and a clean T-shirt. These kinds of looks make me feel so good – both the jeans, shirts and suits. And that feeling is exactly what I want to bring into 2026.

A garment I would like to explore more in 2026, as a relatively new part of my uniform, is the skirt. And here I don’t mean no basic old skirt, but extraordinary ones, styled with a sweater or something equally simple. Think Miuccia Prada in her signature cashmere, skirts and heels. Amazing look. I like that it adds a bit more femininity to my usual masculine/feminine balance when dressing. I’ve started adding some real gems to my wardrobe, like the watercolour print one from Prada SS23, found on Vestiaire after months and months of looking, as well as the Toteme fringe skirt which I used quite a lot last summer. The key here is to pick true beauties that really resonates with my more creative side, to contrast the rest.

There you have it – my style resolution for 2026. Obviously completely stolen from Lolita Jacobs, yet perfectly fitting. Editing, focusing and simplifying.

Although this letter was all about me thinking out loud about my own style, I hope it can inspire you to dig a little deeper, finding your own wardrobe hero pieces. I think we all feel the exhaustion of fashion moving too fast, the influence (sometimes feeling like a brainwash) of social media and the longing for something real – for ourselves, according to our own references and values. So, my 2026 will be all about that – editing down, to clarify my own uniform, and to stay away from things that is not 100% “me”. So I solemnly swear.

Yes, yes, I know – scarves were really happening in 2025 as well, but in 2026 this tendency will explode. I guess the red scarf tied around the waist at Chanel’s Pre Fall 2026 Metiers d’art show didn’t escape anyone? It likely takes its inspiration from one of fashion history’s most colourful personas – Diana Vreeland, American fashion columnist and editor.

Accessories were a core feature of Vreeland’s signature style – a look that was often based on staples like sweaters, shirts and trousers. Jewellery and scarves were what turned the garments into a look, creating a signature style so iconic it’s easily recognised even today. The scarves, and of course the jewellery, red nails and lipstick, gave a feminine touch to these quite masculine coded garments. The play between masculine and feminine is, in my opinion, what makes Vreeland’s look so seductive and timeless. Her style was unapologetic, powerful and authentic – exactly what we are longing to see more of today. Or as she herself put it: “Style – all who has it share one thing: originality”.

Talking about scarves, there is another muse that simply has to be mentioned – Queen Elizabeth. Her iconic Barbour-jacket-worn-with-a-silk-head-scarf-look is certainly one for the books. Again, that play between the masculine waxed jacket and the feminine silk scarf simply gets me. The balaclava, which for the last autumn seasons has been such a loved head piece, might have to make some room for the head scarf in 2026. I love how Hanna MW interprets this trend wearing a leo scarf to her shearling fur. And if you’re more of a minimalist you can always count on The Row to show you the way – matching solid cream silks together.

From one queen to another – Miuccia Prada made a statement for the scarf during her SS26 shows, not as a part of the collections for Prada and Miu Miu, but worn by herself when appearing to thank the audience afterwards. The over-the-shoulders-styling is bound to set off some good copying in 2026.

The Row showed a very artisan version of styling the scarf for Pre-Fall 2026, bringing the feeling of early 20th century into their look. Again, the scarf is tied around the waist, yet in a more dramatic way. Influencers are already on it, styling their long, fringed smoking scarves on top of their coats and dresses. Actually this might be one of those trickle-up situations, where trend setters and muses of different kinds start referencing, in this case, historic dressing and a brand like The Row picks it up in their styling. Expect more of this in 2026.

Finally, there is of course also the summer version of the scarf – the sarong or pareo. Wrapped around the hips and worn over swimsuits as a beach cover-up or with an unbuttoned shirt for summer lunches or dinners, it’s a true seasonal key piece. Trending among influencers already last summer, I read this article on pareos by Leandra Medin Cohen in June and was very inspired. Be smart and reuse your scarves for all of the above styling, or get one or two beauties second hand – there is a sea of options online.

A final note before I leave you. One might think talking about originality and personal style in the same text as trends to be contradictory. You’re right, it is. But what I’m saying is merely this – individuality is coming back. This is the core message. One result of this tendency is that the scarf is having a moment due to its playful versatility when it comes to styling. It could be a fun thing to try, OR go out and look for your own version of the scarf – a signature accessory or jewellery to wear over time, making it authentically yours. Either way, have fun and be creative. Don’t settle for things that don’t feel truly you.

One could argue that the influences of preppy never really go away; because it’s more of a style than a trend. However, for SS26 the traditional codes of preppy finds its way onto the runway in a way that takes it out of the regular lifestyle bucket and into the light of fashion. It’s an elongation of the Old Money trend that’s been around for quite a few seasons, as preppy really is the original source for WASP dressing, which is actually what we are talking about when we talk Old Money or Stealth Wealth. As a few of you might know, I spent my first 9 years as a fashion designer working within modern preppy sportswear fashion, in which I had time to get REALLY NERDY about these things. Still, to this day, my own personal style is very much tied to the traditional codes of original sportswear – so this subject is very close to my heart.

As the terms original sportswear and preppy are usually mixed up, let’s quickly look back at some fashion history before diving into 2026 (who am I kidding, it’s also because I really love this topic).

A short history.

During the early 20th century there was a shift in society where people became more interested in health and outdoor lifestyle. People, especially women, needed activewear, as the corseted and formal Parisian styles that were in fashion didn’t suit the new lifestyle – to go biking, swimming and playing tennis. America spearheaded this evolution in fashion, developing a new leisure wardrobe consisting of informal and interchangeable separates that were comfortable and easy to care for – American sportswear was born. This change has, and perhaps rightly so, been referred to as America’s biggest contribution to fashion history. By the 1920s and 30s, sportswear – which could now be mass produced – had found its way into fashion, becoming the modern wardrobe for the growing middle class. The idea of the sportswear wardrobe, centered around democratic ready-to-wear staples suitable for a modern lifestyle, is still to this day what RTW fashion is based upon.

At the same time, during the 1920s, a certain fashion developed at the American elite ivy league preparatory schools. The style got the name "preppy" and was very much part of the sportswear movement in general, however it added British countryside fashion and certain styling codes into the mix. Separate club blazers, chinos and button down Oxford shirts were worn with loafers and sweaters thrown over the shoulders. Prep fashion was centered around life on campus, mixing in sporty references like rugbys, letterman jackets and strong pop colours into its low key neutral base. This less democratic take on sportswear, with its secret codes of wearing and styling items together, was all about showing superiority and status with small means – using everyday garments in a particular way. Quiet luxury was born.

Preppy 2026 Trends

With some nerdy history in our back pocket, we are finally getting into the good stuff. Looking at 2026, here are some tendencies, originally preppy to their core, which at least I will be incorporating into my wardrobe for spring.

THE POLO PIQUE

It was clear that preppy is making a comeback the moment Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, newly appointed Creative Directors for Loewe, stepped out on the SS26 runway. They were both wearing Ralph Lauren. Few things are more preppy than Ralph Lauren staples, and that red polo pique sparked something within me. I def need to steal my husband’s perfectly worn-in Lacoste ones for spring. I think both Loewe and Calvin Klein nailed it, styling a casually unbuttoned polo underneath sweaters and spring coats – such a great look. I’m also totally obsessed with the polos worn with skirts in the Tory Burch SS26 collection. So gonna go for that pairing as soon as the weather allows - it all feels very Prada.

SWEATSHIRTS – THE CASHMERE SWEATER OF SPRING

Ok, ok, it might not be as big as the COS/The Row cashmere, BUT – I’m loving that jersey is really having a moment this spring. A great sweatshirt, oversized and casual, adds that perfect clean yet effortless sportiness to a look.

For anyone in doubt, pls look to the personal style of Louise Trotter, Creative Director at Bottega Veneta, previously at Carven and preppy powerhouse Lacoste (both eras personal favourites of mine) – often wearing simple sweatshirts with roomy slacks – perfection!

SWEATERS OVER SHOULDERS

A classic preppy styling move – the sweater casually thrown over the shoulders of a blazer, shirt or coat. Seen at Celine (of course), but also Bottega Veneta, Loewe and even The Row. Except for functioning as a warming scarf, it adds an interesting layer to a look, and is a great way to inject some colour if one is not too comfortable wearing that otherwise.

BASEBALL JERSEYS

After Miu Miu’s push for rugbys, it’s time for another preppy icon to enter the chat – the baseball T-shirt. This colour blocked classic is such a fun and simple way to add some sporty coolness to a look. Wear with jeans for the ultimate casual look, a fancy skirt for an interesting contrast or white wide chinos for a classic preppy vibe.

PLIMSOLLS

After the loafer, the plimsoll sneaker is THE preppy shoe. With its characteristic canvas upper with rubber sole, it was first created back in the 1830’s for school PE, and later popularised by brands like Keds and Converse. This sportswear icon was seen at both the SS26 Prada and Dior show and I bet this will influence the sneaker trends rather massively for spring.

Again, if you’re in doubt – pls see Louise Trotter styling the plimsolls to perfection. My weapon of choice is the Japanese Moonstar sneaker, which I’ve bought in 3 colours (so far…), just waiting for spring.

LOGOS

Graphics have always been a big part of the preppy style and the Ralph Lauren logo, placed at the chest, might be the most iconic of them all. This spring it’s not just the Creative Directors of Loewe that are feeling the RL pull – even Prada made a version, putting it on everything from preppy shirts to coach jackets. This is your cue to start hunting down pre-loved shirts and jackets well in time for spring.

PRIMARY COLOURS & PASTELS – MIXED IN WITH THE NEUTRALS

Obviously, the natural evolution from the toned down Old Money aesthetics we’ve been seeing lately, would be to just play with these preppy garment archetypes in neutrals to keep the look somewhat intact but renewed. However, this trend is also very much about adding colour to the play. Energetic primaries inspired by traditional sports as well as soft pastels will be key. My advice is to start injecting some pops of red to your wardrobe, which you probably have gotten used to by now seeing so much red in fashion lately. I would also suggest to add some pastel yellow, a trend we saw already in SS25. The bold ones go for the cobalt blue, grass green, together with shades of light mint and pink. All mixed with lots of crisp white, beige, navy and black to ground the look.

I hope this Stack can get some new year inspiration going and perhaps even encourage someone to add one or two unexpected items or colours to their spring wardrobe. One of the biggest tendencies for 2026 is the revival of couture houses Dior and Chanel, and their classic influence on fashion. With newly appointed Creative Directors – Matthieu Blazy at Chanel and Jonathan Anderson at Dior – releasing their first collection for each house in spring 2026, there is a lot of change in the air. The previously sleepy brands all of a sudden feel fresh and interesting again with these two new creative innovators at the helm. But as innovative as they are, there are some brand DNA, some classic garments, accessories, fabrication and details, which will always be apart of the story. Coming in as a new designer, one of your biggest tasks is to dig deep in the history of the brand, understand its personality and identify the brand’s core codes, its identificators, and then work with and around them to renew the look. Respecting and staying true to the DNA, while firmly moving the brand forward. One of those identificators, as important for both houses yet in slightly different ways, is the jacket. For Chanel it’s the little tweed jacket and for Dior the New Look blazer – both of them petit in silhouette and feminine to the feel. My prediction is that these two jackets, hero products for each brand, will see a revival in 2026.

But before we jump to 2026, let’s start at the beginning, trying to understand why these products became such icons.

Born from the desire to liberate women from the restrictive sartorial norms of the day (perhaps most of all the regular use of a corset), French designer Gabrielle Chanel sought to dress women “in suits that make them feel at ease, but that still emphasise femininity”. An idea which now seems simple, and yet 100 years ago was the start of a fashion revolution. This belief led Mademoiselle Chanel to create her first tweed suits in 1925, and voilá, the iconic CHANEL jacket was born. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel started experimenting with tweed for her womenswear in the early 1920s. She was said to have often borrowed the clothes of her lover, the Duke of Westminster, because she felt drawn to the ease and comfort they provided. With this in mind, Gabrielle turned her attention to tweed and the fabric, which at the time was used only in menswear, soon became her signature. The Chanel jacket quickly became the symbol of the modern and liberated woman – a timeless innovation that still stands today.

A little more than 20 years later, in 1947, Christian Dior debuted his first ever collection, in which he introduced the Bar Suit, featuring natural rounded shoulders, a cinched waist, padded hips and a very full skirt. The silhouette was named the “New Look” by Harper Bazaar’s Carmel Snow. It celebrated ultra-femininity and opulence after years of military and civilian uniforms, sartorial restrictions and shortages. Symbolically, the silhouette represented a return to traditional and decorative ideas of femininity, referencing back to late 19th century corseted fashion. It also represented the rebirth of the French couture after the German occupation of World War II and reinstated Paris as the fashion capital of the world. Although feminists raged, the nostalgic look was an instant success and set the course for post-war fashion. Dior himself said “I believe it was due to the fact that I brought back the neglected art of pleasing”.

Two different jackets with two opposite intentions of creation – one to liberate women, the other one to bring us back to an aesthetic where women were stereotypically pleasing. Yet both of them, in their own way, marked turning points in fashion history, enough to iconify the garments, giving them timeless relevance and constant status. Today, these two silhouettes are being brought back to the spotlight by Matthieu Blazy and Jonathan Anderson, showing versions of the iconic jackets in their SS26 debut collections for the houses of Chanel and Dior.

Blazy showed an assured, modern and easy collection, where the tweed jacket, and traditionally matching skirt, was given a relaxed elegance and youthful coolness through unconstructed shapes and effortless styling with jerseys and jeans.

Anderson, also clearly inspired by the iconic silhouettes of the Dior archive, does the exact same thing as Blazy – letting history be part of a modern look, by styling the Bar Jacket with modern takes on denim. Even before all this, you could see his fascination for the Bar silhouette, as he dressed Greta Lee for the Venice Film Festival this summer in a look very much inspired by the original New Look from 1947. Personally, I love his interpretation of the classic New Look silhouette in the middle picture, working with a wool blazer, yet experimenting with light-weight denim to achieve the full width of the classic skirt, but here as modern jeans. Stunning!

So, two of the most brilliant creative minds at the moment are telling us that the little jacket is having a revival, and I couldn’t be more excited. Don’t get me wrong, I will still be championing my oversized suits and sneakers, but there is something about the petit silhouette that really gets me going. I def think it will be one of the most important silhouettes of 2026. Naturally I wouldn’t gravitate towards garments that so clearly represents such a conservative view on femininity. Because, let’s be honest – although Chanel created her tweed suit with modernity in mind, lately it has hasn’t really been worn by the most progressive ladies around… However, with this new take on Chanel and Dior, there is a new context emerging – one which is closely connected to Coco Chanels liberated ideas, making even the Dior Bar jacket feel empowering and fresh – possibly for the first time.

To be frank, most things in this curation are on my personal wish list. (Don’t get too nervous dear husband, I don’t need them ALL). I crave things with soul. Perhaps I have always done that, but this feeling seems to grow lately. A lot of times that means vintage, with patina and a story to tell. Other times slowly crafted, filled with the kind of energy you simply just get from things that have been allowed to take their time in both creation and production. There are also plenty of things that are just beautiful. Hopefully it inspires you.

PS. Some of the most precious gifts I have received during the years have been simple things with a lot of intention. Like when a friend of mine came over and had picked a handful of small flowers “because I should wake up to flowers by my bed”. Or when we got married and our priest gave us two small round stones as a symbol of our love and as a gentle reminder that even the hardest of rocks need to soften its edges over time. Or a letter I received from another friend of mine, speaking about love and friendship. So please remember, that fantastic book you just read, or a cutting from one of your plants at home can be wrapped up and passed along, becoming a treasured gift of someone dear.

For The Hostess.

We all know her, that amazing friend opening the doors to her home, serving you an amazing dinner while being the greatest hostess, making sure no-one’s glass is empty and everyone feels cared for. She deserves only the best, so the next time you’re off to dinner, make sure you bring a special treat for her.

Enchanted by the delicious world of Mimi Thor, bring anything eatable, drinkable or items elevating the experience of the first two. A great olive oil with a hint of lemon, perfect for sallads and fish. I love anything pistachio and this cream is to die for. Walk into any antique store and they are bound to have a big pile of vintage napkins. Pick the most beautiful ones, tie a silk or velvet ribbon around them and you have a great gift. One time having my colleagues over for dinner, I got a dried bouquet of bay leaves – so pretty to hang in the kitchen while using it in autumn stews. My favourite hand soap for the kitchen, smelling amazingly of pine needles and fir cones. Yes yes, I know the actual bottle is not the prettiest, we usually get the refill and poor it into a beautiful glass bottle instead.

Every time we drive down to my husband’s family in Skåne we always get home-made marmalade from his sisters – we even served it at our wedding, it’s that good. A jar of home-made jam or marmalade is the ultimate luxury. Olive bowl Spruzzi cioccolato and a yar of Bernal’s olives. Fish inspired butter knife. Dream plates from Portuguese San Raphael.

Home made baguettes, the wonkier the better. After having tried my friend Eric’s bread, I only use this recipe. A selection of cheeses. Perfect bowl from Nicola Fasano. Love the raw terracotta meeting the contrasting glaze. Sabre Paris bamboo serving spoons. Dessert wine is a hangup of mine and Sauternes is my absolute favourite. Make sure it has some age, the darker amber colour the better – serve it to ice cream or a lovely dessert.

For The Home.

Winter is the perfect time for nesting – rearranging the furniture at home, lighting candles and building a still-life or two. So why not help a loved one along by adding something precious to their collection.

I’m feeling very inspired by Schiller Dufva’s beautiful universe and how she clusters old ceramics on top of tables and cabinets. Give someone a vintage gem to start their collection. Search for Gunnar Nylund, Carl-Harry Stålhane or Berndt Friberg at any Scandinavian auction house and you will find gold. My current hangup on everything heavily decorated in black iron is reaching peak levels. Something about the authenticity, weight and impactful presence has me completely spellbound. For my last birthday, my friends gave me glasses to be used for my husband’s and my traditional Friday drinks at home. It’s the perfect gift! The finest ones, air-thin and delightful, are found at our Bobo. Coaster in pewter from Svenskt Tenn, chicest way to make sure wine bottles don’t stain sensitive surfaces. Aromatique incense from Aesop. I’ve said it before, and will say it again – this is my best purchase this year. You can thank me later.

Glass Montre from Ferm Living, to hold treasures. Fell in love with this little sculpture “Cosmic Room” by Bengt Amundin when we were at the exhibition Grand Antiques at Liljevalchs the other weekend. Love how the patinated bronze meets the soft teak wood. Tie a silk ribbon around a bunch of candles – always an appreciated gift – my favourites come from Lagerhaus, who always have a beautiful selection of colours. Brass candle snuffer from Galerie Storm (but you can just buy anything from the Storms and believe it will hit home). Vintage gold pleated lighter from Dunhill to leave lying around the table. And yes, we def mix metal colours at home, no questions asked. Coffee table books are always a good idea. Few people inspire me more than Georgia O’Keeffe, and Living Modern is the ultimate summary of her lifestyle, art and beautiful homes. Dream rug from Cappelendimyr. Imagine placing your feet on this on an early winter morning – pure bliss.

For Self-Caring.

Whenever I go through a rough patch in life, succeed to deliver on a goal at work or just find myself in a situation where a tiny celebration is in order, I treat myself to something small. It’s one of the ways in which I try to be my own cheerleader, rooting and caring for myself. Whether it’s for yourself or someone else, these are some of my go-to treats, with focus on soft self-caring, making everyday life feel just a bit more special.

Smythson’s classic Chelsea notebook in red croco, perfect for journaling. Vintage pen to go with your notebook and pill box for storing winter vitamins, both sourced by Preclothed for The Row. Vanity case in cognac leather, such a luxurious gift. The scented candle I swear by. The Rolls Royce of hair brushes, from Mason Pearson of course. The only hair mask that untangles my dry winter hair, with the loveliest of scents. My favourite hair claw just came in brown tortoise. The trendiest accessory, the hair comb.

I love to buy skincare at the pharmacy. Two heroes of mine are La Roche Posay Cicaplats, which I use as night cream, and their eye cream Toleriane, which is kind and hydrating for the sensitive skin around the eyes. My favourite hand cream from Byredo, with THE most amazing scent of mysk, palo santo and sage. Lip balm in the chicest case, from Hermes. I’m currently taking a pause from gel lack, letting my nails rest for a few months. To give them some strength and shine in the meantime I use Essie’s Hard to Resist coating leaving my nails looking healthy – it’s by far one of my greatest beauty hacks for damaged nails.

Ever since Aesop released their new Eleos nourishing body cleanser this summer, I have been a huge fan – there is simply no better scent. Introduced to me by one of my best friends on a trip to NY ten years ago and the one peeling mask I’ve sworn by since – Triple microdermabrasion face polish from Exuviance. It helps dissolve pore-congesting impurities, loosen dead skin cells and leaves skin glowy and silky soft. I use it 1-2 times a week, with a rich and hydrating night mask afterwards. Iconic Age Well Duo from Skinceuticals gives my skin that extra bounce during winter, helps brighten and tighten, as well as reduce fine lines. Clear tea pot and my favourite winter herb tea for slow weekend mornings. Cosy lounge set, sweater, trousers and scarf.

Blame it on my age, but one of my most treasured investments over the last years has been my Tempur pillow. Gone is my neck pain and I have this brilliant pillow to thank for it. Crisp new percale bedding – few things make me happier.

Perfect silk twill PJ, shirt & trousers for elevating lazy evenings and mornings at home. Sunday Time’s bestseller, Still Life by Sarah Winman, is a heartfelt story set in Florence, about a group of people coming together through war, friendship, love and art. This book gave me inspiration to live life more fully – read it. Cosy cashmere socks for chilly mornings. The chicest shearling indoor slippers, go up one size as they are slightly small.

For The Fashionista.

Who am I kidding, this is my wishlist. Dear Santa…

THE dandy leather coat with belted waist for a modern take on 70’s femininity. Love to mix in an It-knit amongst all my cashmere sweaters. This asymmetrical hem one is a beauty. I love white jeans, especially during winter (oh so unpractical in Sweden, but that’s part of its charm). A slimmer leg would be the perfect addition to my more loose fit ones – offering silhouette versatility to my wardrobe. You know I said the it-bag is dead, but PHOEBE PHILO has a way to get to me. Gig bag in black.

Obsessed with these toeless silk socks – so good for ballerina styling in spring. Nina Christen tabi ballerinas, a new classic. Love that they are softer than the Margiela ones. A shield pinky ring with emeralds – a girl can dream, can’t she? Sculptural hair comb. A personalised lip balm from Officine Buly with embossed initials. Hermes Ulysses notebook cover in cognac leather, the perfect way to start a new year. New underwear is always a treat! Lace bras from La Perla which I’ve heard so many good things about.

Perfect Minaudière from Juju Vera. If' you’re lucky you’ll find a similar vintage one at Recollection. The only sneakers I use these days, Japanese plimsoles from Moonstar for that perfect preppy touch – in off-white for spring. Speaking about preppy, the pique polo is making a comeback. I find myself craving the original Lacoste one, in grey melange. So chic to pair with a more spectacular skirt for work – that perfect Céline lace one for example… still searching for it after all these years. I’m looking for new simple everyday earrings. The 14 mm size of the classic two-toned Ennui hoops are good contenders.

I’m really excited to add more sensuality and femininity to my night time look (yet I’m sticking to my masculine staples for daytime, make no mistake). Inspired by the old world glamour of Andrea Ricci I would very much like to find a silk kimono to wear as a dress over simple silk trousers – so casually elegant.

The knee length nods at a simpler, more pragmatic way of dressing, with its modern roots in the 1920s. Back then the new length, part of the “flapper” style, stood for female liberation and rebellion, and was a break from traditional norms, long skirts and corsets. It symbolised the modern woman. I love that these connotations are still imbedded into the knee-length, making it not only practical but also powerful. Yet, at the same time, it requires complexity in its construction. Instead of relying on just a coat or dress to achieve the elongated maxi silhouette, you now need to include more building blocks to make the look come alive – trousers and shoes all of a sudden become key, as does actual styling.

The first look from The Row pre-fall 2026 made it clear that things are indeed changing. They showed a knee length A-line cape, worn on top of a pair of trousers – and there you have it, the new it-silhouette. The whole look made me think of Grace Kelly and that famous Life Magazine photo from 1956, hiding her baby bump with a coat worn as a cape and her Hermes Sac à Dépêches, later renamed the “Kelly Bag” as a tribute to the princess. And yes, flap bags are definitely going to have a moment in spring, but that’s a different substack. Back to the knee-length. The rest of The Row’s collection followed and cemented the importance of this new silhouette, and I can’t help but loving it.

Toteme has been working with the knee-length for quite some time, here below from the AW25 show, showing both coats, skirts and dresses hitting just on the knee. The brand also made it clear that you wear it best with a pair of skinny boots. Very chic.

Key garments to get the look:

• The knee-length coat – still relaxed and roomy, or slightly A-lined. In wool for autumn and a cotton trench for spring.

• Straight leg trousers and denims – to contrast the roomy coats and create an interesting new silhouette. I’m sure you already have a pair in your wardrobe, ready to be dusted off and worn.

Did you also practice cursive writing in school? I still remember writing page after page of lowercase and capital letters – a a a a a… A A A A A... The mindfulness of slow and repetitive practise of beauty. Of course I loved it! I took pride in having a neat (and, let’s be honest, a rather ancient-looking) handwriting – hell, to this day I still do. There is just something so elegant about nice penmanship. It’s like something out of the old world, when things were more considerate, polite and qualitative. Taking the time to write a letter or a card is such a graceful thing. Yes, yes, I have a totally romanticised way of looking at this, but don’t we all? I’m not a nostalgic person, yet I keep birthday cards and letters just for that reason. I think it’s so charming the way you immediately can tell who wrote it by the handwriting, so very intimate and personal – a true signature, usually constant throughout life. These notes, as short as some of them are, are actually some of my most treasured belongings, especially the one’s from my late grandparents and my husband. The later always leaving small notes for me when I have fallen asleep reading in the sofa and he has gone out, or on the kitchen table for me to find in the early morning when I’m travelling.

So, with this very sentimental relationship to handwriting, you might understand that few things make me more excited than seeing notebooks coming back into fashion. Just as thrilled as I once was for the Palm Pilot, turning my cursive notes into digital text, I almost screamed seeing the chocolate brown crocodile notebook at the SS26 Celine show, reversing the process back to its original roots. Also, I have never screenshotted something as quickly as Lydia’s Paris diaries, finding the equivalent to notebook-gold at Preclothed – a pile of vintage Hermes. Enough said – I need one, right now!

My weapons of choice:

Vintage Hermes notebook from the 1960s, THE notebook to rule them all. Smythson’s Chelsea notebook in their light blue shade – a classic. Hermes Ulysse – I have a weak spot for that cognac shade and the softness of the leather in this particular style. Smythson again, but this time in navy croco – so chic. Obviously, the last option didn’t become any less desirable seeing Susanne Koller having one. Gah, the craving.

Whether it’s morning pages, daily journaling or just taking meeting notes and writing to-do lists – make sure you do it in the chicest way possible this autumn.

It all started with Norm Core, a term firstly introduced by comic artist Ryan Estrada in 2008. However, it didn’t gain cultural relevance until 2013, when the New York based trend forecasting agency K-Hole released one of their playfully critical downloadable PDF reports on the topic. Norm Core was described as a reaction to the time’s growing hipster movement, embracing the banality of plainness, of not being alternative, of not seeking difference to affirm your individuality. It was a wink to the system, using knowledge about fashion and social codes, plus a rather large portion of sarcasm to create a style totally based on understated basics to make you blend in to the average crowd. Yet, of course, what it really made you do, when used in the context of fashion and creativity, was stand out amongst your peers. Take Steve Jobs in his black turtlenecks, Levis 501’s and New Balance 990’s, or any creative director at a big fashion house. Norm Core quickly became the uniform for creative intellectuals, used to underline their authenticity and their quest for putting the craft first.

It then continued with Quiet Luxury, also called stealth wealth or old money aesthetics – a movement embracing understated elegance, high-quality materials and timeless design. Much like Norm Core, Quiet Luxury disregarded flashiness for a subtle and essential expression. The difference, however, was that while Norm Core used authentic and democratic items like Patagonia Fleece jackets and Birkenstock sandals, Quiet Luxury played on refined luxury items usually linked to a conservative upperclass like Hermes Kelly bags, cashmere sweaters and tennis bracelets. It was the era of The Row and Loro Piana. Its popularity lied in its way of detaching oneself from the peacocking that was going on in social media feeds, using sophisticated social codes to showcase superiority and taste. The style gained popularity in 2023 with the styling of the TV-series Succession and Gwyneth Paltrow’s outfits during her civil trial, analysed by media worldwide.

Today, we’re in the new era of Common Luxury, where the most common items are picked up, hardly reworked, yet rebranded and sold as high-end luxury. I think it says a lot about the times we are living in, when plastic flip flops for $690 are number 1 on the Lyst list of the hottest products in the world. It’s like a quiet revolution – the commodity is now the luxury. But unlike the Norm Core era, where the whole idea was to pick up on the real deal – the New Balance sneaker, the Levis jeans, Patagonia Fleeces and Birkenstocks – Common Luxury is about buying the high-end interpretation of the basic.

One can ask oneself, why are these common pieces suddenly so interesting? Well, it’s because they represent something real, something authentic. In a world of fast spinning trends and overconsumption, there’s something refreshing about these grounded, genuine references. For luxury houses like Prada and The Row, using common or functional coded items in their collections add authenticity to their brand DNA. And as we all know – ladies and gents – today, in a world of filters, AI and poses, authenticity is the highest form of status. Buying a commonly or functionally coded garment from a high-end brand shows you understand authentic references and codes, yet have status enough to buy it at a price point that separates you from the crowd. It’s a form of cultural capital – flaunting knowledge instead of trend (although you are of course flaunting both, buying a jacket referencing authentic workwear historically seen at Carhartt, but from Prada).

On the same topic, speaking about authenticity and cultural capital, there is also something interesting about the worn-in look that is gaining momentum. Like the Prada jackets having that distressed look, an imitation of being worn over and over. Faded colours, frayed edges and wrinkled – the more beaten up the better. It’s yet again a nod towards the common wardrobe where things are worn repeatedly year after year, not following trends but your own style. Authenticity through referencing the common. In 2025, nothing is cooler than being fashionably anti-fashion.

And apparently it continues in 2026. The long anticipated SS26 debut of Matthieu Blazy for Chanel showed their classic flap bag in a beaten-up condition that I’m sure Mary-Kate Olsen would approve of. We’ve also seen influencers and designers like Elin Kling and Annabel Rosendahl wearing torn jeans lately, tagging along to this modern version of a grunge tendency, referencing the real, yet bought at The Row (and I’m pretty sure soon sold at Toteme). This obsession with the common and our longing for authenticity and realness is, and will continue to be, one of the main driving factors within fashion – and I think we’ve only scratched the surface.

Armani founded his brand in 1975 and his vision was clear: to get rid of the artificial aspect of fashion, to uphold a less-is-more aesthetics built on timeless elegance and neutral colours – because beautiful things have no expiry date, they just keep getting better with age.

He talks about style, not trends. About quality.

The modern suit.

What most people don’t remember is that Mr. Armani once were among the most innovative and provoking designers out there. During the late 1970’s Armani introduced a new kind of tailoring – an unconstructed suit that was “as comfortable as a cardigan and as light as a shirt”. He removed the classic features of traditional British tailoring such as heavy fabrics, thick interfacing and shoulder pads, to make way for a new casual elegance that captured the ideals of the times.

Armani’s big international breakthrough came in 1980 when the movie American Gigolo was released, starring a young Richard Gere as Julian Key – a beautiful, athletic and well-dressed male escort. Key’s impressive wardrobe of modern suits were all made by Armani, catapulting the designer into fame. His relaxed suits became the go-to look for the new generation – the yuppies: the young urban professionals – who wanted nothing more than to show off their newly earned money. The way the movie romanticises clothes and interior design kickstarted a new era, where material things became important status markers for the new upper class.

During the 1980s Armani also created a wardrobe for the modern working woman – using masculine coded garments and cuts from tailoring, translating them into an empowering look for women – nowadays know as the power suit. “I wanted to dress the woman who lives and works, not the woman in a painting” he said. He was one of the first designers to apply this approach, using what was considered the male wardrobe as the inspiration for his womenswear collection. He was also the first designer to reach out to Hollywood actresses he admired, whose style aligned with his androgynous vision of femininity, asking to dress them. Diane Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer and Julia Roberts were among the first ones, yet thousands were to follow.

The love of basics.

Throughout his career, Armani has always come back to the essentials; the T-shirt, blazer, perfect pants and the cashmere knit amongst others – the foundation of a modern wardrobe. Returning to archetypal garments like these corresponds well with his love for simplicity, of which he spoke frequently. To him, building a great wardrobe and style meant using high quality basics as its cornerstones, relying as much on their timelessness as their comfort. Although an Italian, he for sure uses the foundational ideas of American sportswear when building his collections – relying on basics to get the right look, mixing them into his world of soft tailoring.

I find it interesting that the casual elegance of Armani feels more relevant than ever today with the last year’s tendencies of quiet luxury. Influential brands like The Row and Phoebe Philo, both exploring the perfect womenswear wardrobe in different ways, can be closely linked to the silhouette, look and feel of early Armani. Whether intentionally working with these references in their processes or not Armani’s vision laid the foundation of the modern woman, the way she lived and still lives her life, and what she needs from the garments she puts on while doing it.

A life in navy.

Throughout the years it’s not only Giorgio Armani’s beautiful creations that has spellbound the crowd – but also his personal style, as tightly edited as his collections. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a huge hangup on his obsession with navy for as long as I can remember. I mean, who doesn’t love a head-to-toe navy look? Armani himself said:

“Navy blue is a stern yet gentle color. It’s not as monastic and severe as black, but equally thoughtful, with a naval feel that is a plus for me, as I love the vast open sea. Navy blue projects an image of calm, and it actually relaxes me. My all-navy uniform is my way of saying, ‘I do create clothes and a million other things, so I have no time to think too much about my look. But I’m paying attention to it anyway because I’m still a fashion designer, and a man with a precise aesthetic.”

With Mr Armani passing, I predict a newfound love for navy coming our way. The iconic navy t-shirt (he wore both cotton and cashmere versions), washed out surplus items such as chinos, over-shirts and car coats as well as navy tailoring all feels inspiring and fresh. Navy is def on my wish list, especially for early spring, preferably paired with off-white canvas sneakers and a canvas tote – see mood-dump below.

A certain Italian sensuality.

Diving deep into the enchanting archive of Armani, I also feel very drawn to the more sensual side of his early 00s designs. Open necklines, low armholes, angled hemlines and marked waists play a defining role when playing on the fine line between sexiness and empowerment – always perfectly balanced and chicly executed. There is also a certain fluidity that comes with his use of luxurious qualities, softly draping around the body. These two in combination – revealing cutlines and dramatic fabrication – is something I think we will be seeing more of in the coming seasons. I’m sure designers will be paying homage to the beautiful and inspiring world of the late Giorgio Armani – a true fashion titan and creator of magic.

I’ve always loved autumn. For me it has a lot to do with loving my work and finally getting back into the swing of things – but also getting back into the city (oh, how I missed you Stockholm), healthy routines and catching up with friends. Yet at the same time, I’m holding on to late night dinners, spontaneity, sun-kissed skin and sandals. I guess that’s what makes this period so magical – the grounded calmness from summer lingering on and the buzzing energy from autumn starting up. It’s all in the mix of the two – the best of two worlds merging.

Changing seasons also means changing perspectives. It’s like my mind has had time to process the intensity of spring, reboot, and is now eager to start anew. I find myself longing for things again – hosting dinners, trying new recipes, indulging in self-care, rearranging our home, buying flowers and lighting candles, going to the theatre, wearing real clothes again (as much as I love summer, I can’t keep pretending a swimsuit and sarong is a satisfying outfit any longer…) and of course – adding a few new pieces to my wardrobe.

I once read an article about Anna Dello Russo where she talked about how she spends a significant part of her summer holiday preparing for autumn – making a list of things to buy, places to visit and things to do. Since then, I’ve done the same. I think it is very inspiring to gather influences and dreams in this way and find that it helps me to take action on a lot of things that otherwise would have disappeared amongst the must-dos of autumn. Things tend to move at the speed of light, and this way I stay on track, making time for the things I dream about. I hope my list will make you think of what inspires you – and maybe put together a little list of your own.

The List.

Crisp Bedding. I guess Tekla’s Modern Romance bedding, shown at Cph 3 Days of Design in June, hasn’t escaped anyone. The pared back take on craft and heritage is just what I long for this autumn – soft yet minimalistic.

The Perfect Blazer. Autumn always makes me long for leather and I’m looking to add a black slim blazer to my wardrobe. Khaite’s Jameson Jacket is perfection, but I’m waiting for the ARKET one to drop later this fall…

Signature Scent. I had the privilege to be invited to the Byredo store just before summer, to pick out a new scent. My choice landed on Vanilla Antique, with top notes of freesia and plum, heart of amber and cashmere wood and base of Madagascar vanilla beans, cistus oil. I’m obsessed! Having struggled over the last couple of years trying to find a signature scent, but not finding THE one, I’m feeling more hopeful than ever. It’s still early days, but having used this one over the summer, I think I finally found it. Looking forward to spend the autumn together.

Grounding Incense. Speaking about scents – I want this autumn to be grounded. I find scent a great tool to strengthen presence and return to my body when things start to move fast and thoughts are scattered. My dear friend Marina told me about how incense has helped her centre herself, so the other day I visited our local Aesop store to pick up some. I chose the Murasaki one, with a spicy and warm scent of wood.

Culture. Autumn means culture for me. Going to the cinema, theatre and catching the latest exhibitions. One of autumn’s absolute highlights is the Marisol exhibition at Louisiana. Marisol was one of the most celebrated and visionary figures of Pop Art, but disappeared almost overnight only to be written out of history. However, Venezuelan-American Marisol (1930-2016) is now experiencing a veritable comeback. Louisiana presents the first major exhibition in Europe of this forgotten, enigmatic and radical artist. I CAN’T WAIT.

Opens October 1, 2025 and runs until February 22, 2026.

Sensual Boots. I also want this autumn to be more sensual. These Toteme boots caught my eye during the AW25 runway show and I haven’t been able to get them out of my head since… The slim leg and high heels add the perfect contrast to wide skirts and coats. I imagine myself wearing them to dinner and theatres when days get darker. If you are lucky enough to have small feet this is a great option – a few sizes left on sale now.

Autumn Nails. I alter between two nail colours – transparent and burgundy. After taking a break from dark nails for almost six months I’m ready again. The chicest thing I know – Chanel’s Rouge Noir.

Weekend Trips. One of the best things I know is to travel with my girlfriends. There is just something completely magical about spending a full weekend together, creating new memories. This autumn, my closest friends and I are talking about going to Milan – so excited!

Jewellery. This autumn I will continue to grow my jewellery collection with a piece or two, adding that perfect spin to any outfit. At the top of my list is the new Tina Onyx Necklace from favourite Le Sundial. I love the graphical shapes of the cubes and the high shine surface. It will fit perfectly with my black cashmere sweater, creating a nice conversation between the matte wool and the glossy beads.

Books. I have a long “to read”-list I would like to dive into this autumn, and at the top of that list is Nadia Kandil’s debut novel “Han kom hem och sa det är slut”. I pity anyone who doesn’t read Swedish – for everyone else, don’t sleep on it.

Release date: September 25.

Elevated Flats. During autumn I tend to swap out my sneakers for more polished flats. The loafer is a trusted companion, working its magic worn with both trousers and skirts. I love the new pre-fall ones that we created at ARKET – slender and in patent leather. I have a general hangup on elevated flats this autumn – adding shine or texture to an outfit. These dark chocolate brown pony ballerinas are also so good, as are the leo ones.

A New Coat. I know, I know – we have seen cape coats for some time now (thank you The Row), but this autumn the trend will explode and I’m so here for it. I think it’s just the right amount of bohemian softness to add to my tailored wardrobe. This one from Veronica Leoni’s Calvin Klein AW25 is perfection. I was lucky enough to catch the Malene Birger Turtle wool poncho in black on 70% sale earlier this spring, and have been wearing it quite a lot since. But I’m still waiting for a special one to drop later in September…

Less is more

The key to a great summer wardrobe is defining a few versatile pieces that can be reused and styled up and down depending on occasion – those summer hero items nailing the sought-after combination of ease and fashionability. This way you can pack a rather small bag, yet still manage for a longer time. Here are a few thoughts on what that looks like for me – slimming down the amount of garments and adding a few extra accessories to spice things up.

I’m trying to only recommend personally favourites, mixing it in with pieces from other brands. However, I want to be clear that you can find similar garments from other brands.

Garments

• The Shirt: The best summer garment there ever was. Perfect as a coverup worn over your swimsuit on the beach, worn with slouchy pants for daytime, or with a shirt skirt for night time. I usually bring two different ones, a striped and a solid to have some options.

• The Caftan/Maxi Dress: I think loose maxi dresses or caftans are the kindest garments to wear for summer – elegant yet comfortable – as perfect for a glamorous beach look as for a relaxed evening look. I usually bring out my old Rodebjer Agave caftans when summer comes (some prints are better than others, and I would advise to look for older ones secondhand like this or this), but also love a maxi shirt dress, preferably in crisp white – such a simple yet striking look. The trendiest ones look for a vintage Pucci caftan.

• Summer Pants: Elevated pants in lighter qualities is one of this season’s must-haves. The Matteau Fishermen pants are THE ones to get, with its beautiful fold-over waistband, perfect to throw on over a swimsuit or pair with a tucked in shirt.

• Pareos and Sarongs: This garment is a true summer life-saver. Basically a scarf, but worn as a wrap skirt over your swimsuit, paired with a shirt and heels for evening, or simply thrown over the shoulders hiding from the sun at the beach. Anyway you wear it, it’s a chic and super easy way to create different outfits depending on your needs. I would pack a longer one for day and a shorter fringed one for night.

• Tank tops: Depending on if you’re a tank top or t-shirt person these kinds of basics are always great to pack. I’m in love with this sheer version from COS, however a white or black ribbed one is a safe bet.

• Swimwear: One perfect swimsuit and one bikini is really all you need. This one from ARKET is perfection, as is this bikini from Lie Studio. Also, make sure to wear your swimsuit as a top as well, worn with a pareo for lunch or paired with pants and jewellery in the evening. Such a great look.

Accessories

• Jewellery: Ok, so on to the accessories. Jewellery offers a lot in terms of styling, while hardly taking up any space in your bag = a winning combination. Summer is perfect for statement pieces, when the rest of your look is a bit simpler than usual. I love a great necklace, like this one, this one or the new pre-fall stunner from Le Sundial. Layering at least two of them earns you extra points. I also think a statement ring and bangle is great. This black ring is as perfect for the beach, as for the evening. When it comes to bangles I’m searching for the old Elsa Peretti for Tiffany lacquered wooden bangles – the red is to die for. Praying to the vintage gods to grace me with some luck…

• Sandals: If you have read the previous newsletters you know this summer is all about flip flops, and these are my go-to’s – so comfortable and love the transparent upper paired with the brown sole. I also have a weak spot for turquoise atm – think pools and clear oceans. Can’t. Get. Enough. These amazing ones from Christopher Esber or the stunning Alaia ones are my current hangup.

• Bags: Grab a carry-on or soft weekender to pack in, then I’ll leave it to one great straw bag and a clutch to do the job during the actual vacation. I’m so fed up with the natural straw colour, so I would go for a brown or black one to add some chicness, making it sophisticated enough to work for evenings as well. The clutch is a great piece, obviously during evenings, but also keeping your most important items like passport, wallet etc when travelling, as most straw bags don’t have any inside pocket solution. Love this braided one which feels summery yet elevated.

• Other necessities: Sunglasses, hair claw, a hair scarf (as seen here on beauty Andrea Ricci), spf and lip spf. A great read: Diana Vreeland’s favourite Moby Dick is the one I’m digging into next – to be found at your local thrift or book shop.

Mixing and matching

This simple summer capsule wardrobe can then be mixed and matched a bit as you wish, from beach, to day, to night. Wear with sunglasses and a scarf tied around your head – or why not in the waist of the maxi shirt dress adding some shape to the silhouette.

Add a few highlights

On top of the above, it’s nice to pack some highlights – pieces you just love or that suits the occasion well. Perhaps you are like me, and have a few special pieces that you only bring out for summer. It could be anything from very colourful or printed pieces (which I hardly wear other times of the year) to something a bit undressed or crafted.

For example, I bought this stunning top from the Bare x Linda Dekhla collaboration, made from old thrifted crochet tablecloths. This is a seasonal piece which I will def treasure and wear summer after summer.

The latest big thing in terms of styling is layering – inverted layering to be specific – adding a more complex and playful angle to dressing. The trend basically means you let the closest to body layer be the longest or highest (neck or waist), letting it peek out under the top layer/s.

It all started with Miu Miu’s SS23 sublime stacks of jerseys (ah, still so good aren’t they?). Very grunge inspired, the models were wearing t-shirts on top of long sleeves, as well as letting logo underwear show on top of skirt waistbands. Miuccia Prada and Lotta Volkova had shown peeks of this trend already in SS22, but in 2023 they let the trend explode. The brand even sold pre-styled stacks of jerseys to make it easy for the costumer to get it right.

For this season the Olsen sisters and Brian Molloy released the SS25 The Row lookbook with a similar layering in mind – letting long under layers hang loose under top layers. The first look is what refuelled the trend – wearing delicate lace intimates as layering pieces. (It also started the hype for flip-flops, but we’ve already been through that in letter no.07.) I think this slight romantic way of doing layering speaks to a lot of women, longing for a more feminine way of dressing. By styling an outfit in multi-layers you get more opportunity to incorporate different factors into the mix of garments and materials. In this case adding femininity, delicacy and shine to looks that are rather masculine coded and using a lot of dry materials – all in all making it more dynamic and interesting. I also love how the layering adds interest to basic garments. Like your cashmere sweater and jeans are still modern, just wear a long lace camisole underneath and you’re good to go. Or wear a shorter knit on top of a long shirt, making sure to roll up the sleeves of the knit so the shirt’s cuffs show. No, it’s not rocket science, not at all actually. Yet it makes the entire look feel updated and basics feel interesting again. A great way to modernise your look without buying a lot of new pieces.

The trend continues this autumn, with The Row showing soft jersey layerings for both Pre-Fall and Spring Summer 2026. The grey t-shirt and paired long sleeve white t-shirt, pictured to the right, are already sold out online – obviously saying something about the impact of this trend. I expect a perfect grey short sleeve t-shirt and a white long sleeve one to be some of early autumn’s best investments (that is if you don’t already own them). I’m also loving the layered shorts look – long shorts being a hang-up of mine, as you know. If you find it tricky, layered skirts could be just as stunning to try out.

A ritual I do twice a year, before summer vacation and Christmas holidays, is cleaning out and organising my wardrobe. I actually spent all of last weekend doing it and let me just tell you – few things give me greater pleasure than this. I’m a firm believer in that our surroundings are an extension of ourselves and therefore decluttering your home or wardrobe will have a serene effect on your energy. An organised wardrobe equals a calm mind. Plus it makes dressing in the morning so much easier and far more inspiring. Delving into this ritual just before the holidays is a way for me to slow down, reflect and clear out the old, so that when I come back after summer I have space for the new that’s about to commence.

I don’t know if it’s age (read: it’s definitely age) but lately I find myself drawn to fewer things, however these few things I want more intensely than usual. With things I mean beautiful items like clothes, jewellery, furniture etc. I have this overwhelming feeling of only wanting perfect things in my life – one really great white shirt, not three ok ones etc. One thing that caught my attention listening to the Marina Abramovic episode of the podcast Fashion Neurosis by Bella Freud was her saying “I want more and more of less and less”. They were talking about something completely different, but to me this sentence really hit the nail on the head. It put words on the feeling I have – wanting, no, actually demanding more out of fewer things. With this in mind I took on my wardrobe.

This time around I used the Allison Bornstein Closet Editing System – an easy 5 step guide to sorting out your wardrobe. I love Allison. She’s the stylist (for Katie Holmes) that turned to influencing, with just the right American charm. If you, like me, can get a little overwhelmed with closet clean-outs, watch these 5 simple YouTube tutorials. You can thank me later.

Step 1: defining you “regulars”.

In short, this is what it’s all about: you start with separating all garments you wear on a regular basis, your go-tos, that make you feel comfortable and like yourself. These pieces are called your regulars. To me, my regulars or basics need to have a point of view – modern in silhouette and be enough worn on their own, not needing a lot of styling to come alive. My regulars are:

• Oversized shirts – to wear with jeans and tailored trousers.

• Flattering tank tops – to wear under blazers.

• Jeans – 501s and wider silhouettes and in different washes.

• Oversized tailored suits – It’s important to me that the trousers are flattering, emphasising the waist to add a hint of femininity to the look. I like to wear a lot of colours, so both my suits and some shirts actually are quite colourful. To many this would not be considered regulars, but to me they are. Everything comes down to your style.

• Great outerwear – This is a real focus for my wardrobe. I love how a great coat or jacket makes an entire look, so this is where I invest a bit extra.

• Wow-skirts – Maybe not regulars for others, but for me a special skirt is key to my look. I style them down with a shirt or cashmere sweater to bring it back to my style.

• One or two really great dresses – versatile enough to suit any occasion.

• Comfortable underwear.

• Accessories – Jewellery and beautiful shoes are key to my look, adding femininity to what otherwise can become quite masculine. I like belts and great socks (always matched with my suits). Bags are a fun addition, but not a crucial one to me.

This is my core look – the pillars to my personal style. My life revolves a lot around work, dinners and daytime events; therefore the everyday wardrobe is where I focus my spending. So it makes sense that the regulars constitute the majority of my wardrobe.

Step 2: clean out the things you never wear.

Clean out the following:

• The things you don’t like, that are too big/small, or that don’t fit your body and therefore you never wear. These are the NO pieces. These are for reselling or donating. DO NOT save jeans that are too small, to wear when “you become thinner”. Just don’t.

• The things you love but never wear. To me these are the collectables – pieces connected to memories, a few pieces I have inherited or beautiful gems from some of my favourite designers that I don’t wear any longer but want to keep. These items all go into boxes and are put away to avoid decluttering the everyday wardrobe.

I also have a little summer wardrobe that, since I live in Sweden, is used rather seldomly. This range of garments and accessories are important to complete my wardrobe, and consists of swimwear, straw bags, some caftans and crafted pieces. I try to think of them as regulars for summer, as they are my go-to pieces during a few months, to avoid sorting out too many of them when doing this exercise.

Step 3: Organise.

My favourite step – putting everything back in type and colour order. So rewarding.

You might miss a step or two from the AB tutorial, but these are the steps applicable for my wardrobe. I don’t have any pieces I don’t know how to style, however a few ones I wear just once or twice a year. During this process I just leave these pieces hanging in the closet as they are some of my favourites and should definitely be saved.

Step 4: Writing a list of what’s missing.

I once read an article about Anna Dello Russo where she spoke about taking the time during summer to write down a list of what pieces to get for autumn. Being a person totally into organisation and lists, this obviously spoke to me. So, during the closet clean out I wrote a list of the things I actually miss. I like the idea that some old pieces sold at Vestiaire or similar, could translate into one or two new ones.

• Tank tops – Although this is one of my core items I only have two. One white and one khaki. I def need a black one, another white one, and possibly a burgundy and grey melange one, to complete the collection and have a variety to wear with my suits.

• A perfect white shirt – My old one is slowly being worn and washed to non-existence. Having worked for a shirt brand before, I’m very nerdy and into the details about fabrication, stitches and button position, so finding THE one will have to take some time…

• Autumn boots – I have a lot of transitional flats, ballerinas and sandals, however very few boots. This will have to be a focus going forward to get a better balance in my wardrobe.

• Black loafers – Waiting for the perfect lacquered ones from ARKET to drop early this autumn.

Hopefully you get inspired to start some good old decluttering rituals – a wardrobe cleanse being the first step. I can’t think of many better ways to clear out the old and make room for the new. I also can’t think of a better ritual to start wrapping your head around your own style and how to consume smarter in the future. Buying less and better is something we should all think about, and hopefully this exercise helps to clarify and focus.

With that, I’m off on vacation, but letters will continue to drop as inspiration comes to me.
