It’s not lost on me that there’s something a little ironic about yearning for fall while living in Southern California.

The leaves may not really change, but I just need it to cool down so I can switch back to hot coffee, start working with heavier yarn, and wear my sweaters again. I’ve been a bit stumped on my next “Big” project that will hallmark this year’s fall knitting for me, so I’ve decided on a few accessories in the meantime.

The Athene Clutch (specifically the peach one) has been seared into my brain since last summer. The only reason I haven’t made it yet is because I couldn’t decide on the color, but I recently went through my stash and think I found something!! This is leftover Knitting For Olive Cotton Merino and Soft Silk Mohair in Lavender Blue and I think I have just enough… Stay tuned.

Okay stick with me… this free Classic Knit Beret Pattern by Purl Soho is so cute. I wear dad hats, but I am not a “hat person” (I don’t even make or wear beanies!). There is something about this that looks so fun to make and I love all the colors they have. This is Spindle in Fuschia Rose and Tussock in Alpine Phlox. Disclaimer, I am an affiliate partner with Purl Soho, but I stand behind them with my full chest!!

Lastly, the Chilton Socks by Midsummer Knits. Socks have been on my knitting “bucket list” for a while, but most of them seem a little too boring to keep me engaged. These came out earlier this year when I was in a big cable phase, and were immediately added to my queue. Now that it’s (hopefully) cooling down, I’m ready to cast these on. What color should I do?!?!?!?! I want to use the recommended Perennial by Kelbourne Woolens.

Tips & Tricks - Weaving in Cotton Ends

A lot of the knitters in the Rolled Raglan KAL have been using Cotton which can be hard to cleanly weave in the ends… This video was shared on the Discord and I thought it might be helpful for others (as my personal weave-in method is usually a free-for-all lol). Genius and so much easier than what I was doing!!!

I started posting my knitting online a year ago because I felt like I had no one to share it with.

Have you ever been going on and on about a project you’re working on to a friend who doesn’t knit? At first they love your enthusiasm, but then there’s a point where their eyes glaze over… I still found myself unable to stop (like Cady Hearon talking about Regina George - iykyk) and a void growing inside me from not being able to fully express my passion for knitting.

So I decided to post my projects — and hopefully meet other knitters in the process.

Building community was the foundation of my desire to share, and the one thing that took the fear out of posting. My first knit & yap video was about my pile of WIPs that I abandoned and all the reasons I refused to finish them… the rest is history — with some of those projects getting completed after all :)

At the core, I want this to be a place where people feel inspired to try things they don’t think they’re capable of or are afraid to explore.

Maybe it’s a new hobby or skill, or diving deeper into topics you’re passionate about. I’ve found the repeated exposure to failure to be life-changing, and this has poured over into in every other area of my life — major confidence boost!

Alright — let’s get to the fun stuff!!

I plan on sharing pattern round ups, hosting more Knit-A-Longs (join the Rolled Raglan KAL here!), doing yarn and product giveaways, and eventually sharing my journey with knitwear design… Stay tuned for more on that!
