G’day lovelies!

Well - August sure went fast, right? I’m home from Darwin RWA conference where me and some author mates hired an apartment together and drank bubbles every day as we celebrated all being back together again after a year of not seeing each other. I did not win the RUBY award as per my last newsletter but it’s such a thrill to be a finalist and I was super stoked for Melanie Milburne who won in our category.

So, what have I got for you today? I have a new release to talk about (including an excerpt) and a great freebie for you all to try but first….Baby Irish ☘️pics!

He’s 7 months old and getting really mobile, commando crawling everywhere. Poor little guy is getting all his teeth at once though, so he’s not the happiest camper. It’s only 7 weeks until we see him again and yes, we are counting every one of those suckers down! 🥰

The veranda was unlit but a mellow glow emanated from her room thanks to the bedside lamp. The soft light fell across every one of his handsome features, including his scruffy, brick-like jawline, and Rowena curled her hand around her mug to stop herself from reaching out and touching.

‘So,’ he said. ‘You weren’t really tired, huh?’

Rowena gave a husky half laugh. ‘No.’ The muffled noises from the pub below were a reminder they weren’t alone, even if it did feel like they were the only people on earth right now.

‘The attention was a bit much?’

‘Yeah.’

But it was his attention, this awareness of him, that was the most discombobulating. Just standing this close, which was a respectable distance by any social measure, her skin popped and fizzed like a live wire dancing in a storm.

This was what happened, she supposed, when a person neglected their baser needs. The doctors had warned her that the anti-anxiety meds might suppress her sex drive, and they had. But with the constant churn of adrenaline drowning everything out, it had been the least of her worries. Hell, she’d been wound so tight she’d have happily traded in her clitoris to make it stop.

But they hadn’t warned her it could come roaring back one day in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere. That she could go from Siberia to the Mojave in the blink of an eye.

Unless. Maybe she was having a hot flush. Maybe she was menopausal. At thirty-six? Perimenopausal, then?

She’d take it, though. Over this very inconvenient sex thing.

‘I’m sorry if they’re overwhelming you. Just give them some time. Before you know it, you’ll be treated like any other townie. Well, except for the Morellis, of course—they’re probably always going to treat you like the queen of Acacia Junction.’

‘Lachlan.’ Rowena swallowed, her pulse ramping up at the words that were forming in her brain.

She couldn’t bear to make chitchat when every one of his deeply modulated words was like a squirt of accelerant to the bonfire already consuming her. And she couldn’t have a bonfire thing happening every time he was near.

This had to stop. Now. Tonight.

‘Ro.’

She wasn’t sure when Ro had become sexy, but hell if it wasn’t right now. Or maybe it was just the way he was looking at her.

Steadily. Expectantly.

His eyes on her mouth like he already knew what she was going to say. But … God—how could she speak those words? Practical or not, she’d known him for five days.

‘It’s okay.’ He inched a little closer, his blue eyes earnest. ‘Just take a breath. And say it.’

‘What if it’s … shocking?’ she asked huskily. It sure as shit was shocking the hell out of her.

His smile was slow and warm. ‘I don’t shock that easily.’

Rowena shut her eyes and drew in a shaky breath, tuning into the thud of her heart as it coursed through every pulse point. Gathering her courage, she opened them again.

‘My radar is kinda rusty right now so if I’ve got this wrong, I’m going to die of embarrassment and will probably have to leave town, but …’ She took a beat to steady her voice. ‘Is there a thing going on between us?’

He chuckled, all low and sexy, and it reached her on a warm puff of air. ‘You don’t have to leave town.’

The muscles in Rowena’s neck loosened at the confirmation. As did her hold on the railing she didn’t even realise she was gripping. Okay then—that was the hard bit.

Now for the harder bit.

Rowena glanced down at the mug of rapidly cooling coffee. Here went nothing …

‘I know you have no reason to believe me, but I don’t usually go around propositioning men. I’ve certainly never propositioned a man I’ve known for less than a week.’

It was kind of reckless, really, and Rowena didn’t do reckless. But she’d seen enough of him this past five days—on the side of the road, in the bakery and tonight at the pub—to trust her instincts where he was concerned.

And they were telling her he was a good guy.

‘I believe you.’

The statement was stark and simple in the night, striking in its sincerity, and Rowena lifted her eyes to him.

‘Right … so …’ Unable to break their gaze, Rowena cleared her throat. ‘I was thinking that we should do something about it. This thing. Except I don’t have the head space for any kind of emotional entanglement and I’m only here for six months and then I’m gone.’

He nodded. ‘And I learned a long time ago not to get into an emotional entanglement with a woman who’s just passing through.’

Rowena vaguely wondered if that had been the cause of one or both of his divorces but, ultimately, it didn’t matter. It seemed like they were both on the same page, right? A trill of sexual anticipation squirmed through her belly.

‘So, if I were to suggest a one-time thing to burn off whatever this is and then we both go on our merry ways, would you be A) morally offended, or is that B) something you could be on board with?’

‘B.’ His gaze drifted to her mouth before returning to hold her eyes captive with its intensity. ‘Definitely B.’

Rowena let out a steady breath. Hallelujah. But she wanted to be sure. She needed to be sure.

‘To be clear—this would be one and done. No second time. No one more time to be really sure. No pining around the town, no passive-aggressive guy bullshit. We’re not a thing. We’re just a … brief interlude.’

He laughed then, sending a delicious shiver zipping up and down her spine. ‘Yes, ma’am.’

‘And when would’—Rowena swallowed against a throat dry as three-day-old toast—‘it suit you for such a thing to happen?’

Please, please, make it soon.

Without breaking their gaze, Lachlan held out his hand. ‘I’m not doing anything now.’

The leap in Rowena’s pulse thrummed through her entire body. Good answer. She wanted him. He wanted her. There was no time like the present, right?

Wild and Wanted reactions - who knew virgins could be so divisive??

Firstly, thanks to everyone who has bought, read, loved and reviewed my new release - big love to you all. I really appreciate every one of you. And if there’s anyone out there who’s read and enjoyed and not left a review yet, I would absolutely love if you do. It’s not understating it to say one of the most helpful things you can do for your favourite authors is to leave a review.

Now, I’ve thought long and hard about writing this next bit in case people think I’m trying to be all ‘how dare you’ over some bruising reviews (which I’m absolutely NOT) but, what the hell, we’re all friends here, right, and I’m sooo curious about YOUR opinions on this topic…

So, there have been quite a few unfavourable reviews which I’d love to dig into. Not because I’m annoyed about them - I’ve been doing this a long time and am well used to low star reviews. Readers are entitled to their own opinions and often what one person doesn’t like about a book will be the exact thing that will make another reader buy it, so I call that a win! 🥰

I guess I just wasn’t prepared for so many reviews to be about the fact Stevie is a virgin who took a virginity pledge at 16 and wears a purity ring. Now, to be absolutely clear, I’m not a fan of purity culture. Each to their own - you do you, boo - but it’s not something I would have ever considered for me or as a way to raise my kids. BUT…it actually exists, right? So, I thought, why not that be why Stevie’s still a virgin at 22.

Well, that and a bunch of grief and family dysfunction over the death of her beloved sister a couple of years prior of course….

It’s clearly struck a chord with some readers though which I find really interesting more than anything. I guess what I was trying to achieve with the book is what Misty nailed in her fabulously thoughtful GR review below.

Instalust isn't usually my thing but if you want a decent plot line in a romance of 300 pages, things have to develop pretty quickly and I think Amy Andrews did this really well.

Stevie is a country music star but a city girl at heart who is staying on the ranch to write songs and become more in tune with her genre. Clay is the grumpy cowboy who lost his career after an accident and has felt lost in life ever since.

I actually really enjoyed the plot surrounding Stevies purity ring. It's not something I've seen a lot in books and it really lent credibility to her immaturity and inability to deal with her attraction to Clay. She's only 22, barely been kissed and suddenly she's forced into the company of a sexy as sin cowboy who looks at her like he wants to devour her — I'd be quaking in my boots too. Plus, she's not saving herself for marriage, she's saving it for herself which I think is really admirable.

The spicy scenes in this were soooo good. It wasn't the spice as much as it was the care, the tension and the exploration for the both of them. The scenes were incredibly sweet whilst also being hot!

Stevie & Clay brought out the best in each other. He taught her confidence and how to stand up for herself, and she taught him that even though his career is over, his life isn't.

I really enjoyed this one and read it all in one sitting! I'll definitely be checking out more of Amy's books and continuing with the series

G’day lovelies. Yes, I’m back from Ireland. Yes, I am suffering from Baby Irish withdrawals so please indulge me as I show off some more pics with him during our month in Ireland. It’ll be another 4 months until we see him again - sob!

But it’ll be here before I know it, right? Right?? So…on with the regularly scheduled programme!

But I know you’re really here for zee sexy times, right? 🥰😘😋The excerpt below happens just after Clay persuades Stevie to play a daring game of Truth or Dare.

Firstly though, a little reminder of the blurb and the tropes -

Clay Calhoun used to be the hottest bad boy on the professional rodeo circuit but a career-ending injury has dragged him back to Wyoming and the family dude ranch he escaped a decade ago. The washed-up bronc rider doesn’t want to babysit tourists pretending to be cowboys while he’s licking his wounds and dodging regrets. Then a record label drops a city girl straight into his pasture.

Reluctantly famous country music sensation Stephanie “Stevie” Everhart needs authentic cowgirl cred to go with her shiny golden Grammy, so her label sends her and her helicopter mother to Wyoming for a month to get some mud on her boots. Unfortunately for Clay he’s given the job of teaching her how to ride a horse.

Clay doesn’t do babysitting. Stevie doesn’t do bad boys. But beneath those big, reckless skies, good girl Stevie discovers a streak of wild she’s never dared unleash and Clay finds grit and warmth that slip past his defences. What starts as image control ignites into sparks neither planned.

“Pull up your skirt,” he said, his voice a pit of gravel. “I want to look at you.”

Stevie bit back a moan and squeezed her legs together as hot streaks of desire undulated through her belly muscles. “You want to look?” she asked, her voice shaky with sudden daring. “You pull it up.”

She had no idea where that came from but she could tell by the flicker in his eyes that her assertiveness wasn’t a bad thing.

“Bossy.” He grinned. “I like it.”

Clay’s thumb stopped playing as their eyes locked and his hand moved steadily up her leg, taking the hem of the skirt with him. Up, up, up, to her knee and on to her thigh, his hand spreading to encompass her upper thigh, exposing her legs, inch by inch to the warmth of the dappled sunlight overhead.

Up, up, up past the crease where her groin met her torso, her legs fully exposed now.

Up, up, up, the fabric hitching higher until every part of her was exposed to his view and he was looking his fill, his fingers absently stroking the sensitive strip of flesh where the band of her underwear would normally have sat.

Stevie’s breath stopped in her lungs as he inspected her like it was his job and he was the world’s foremost expert. But there was nothing…gynaecological about it – it was excruciatingly intimate and so damn hot.

Her cheeks flamed and it took all she had not to put her hand in front of herself, not to hide away from the sticky web of desire in his heavy-lidded gaze. She’d never been this bared to a guy. Hell, until she met Clay, a guy hadn’t gotten anywhere near the most private part of her.

And then last night – gah, was it only last night? - he’d slid his fingers into her underwear and stroked her to orgasm.

The memory of it on the back of her intimate contact with the saddle undulated through her belly and Stevie almost moaned at the erotic swirl of sensation. She clamped down on the urge to rotate her hips and arch her back because it seemed far too…brazen - especially while he was looking at her like that.

Like he wanted to devour her. What had he said? He wanted to show her how this cowboy likes to eat and now that was running on a loop through her head.

The longer he stared the more the tension ratcheted up and she’d give anything for some relief. Her nipples were pebble hard and she curled her fingers into the blanket each side to stop herself from flattening her palms against them to ease the ache. How was it possible for her entire body to throb just from him staring?

Clearly, she hadn’t needed the saddle at all when his undivided attention was having such a galvanising effect. Was it actually possible to climax without being touched? From just the intensity of his gaze. Just the…anticipation of his touch?

Damn Clay and his anticipation.

Because the truth was, with her body one giant throb, Stevie was a hare trigger away from an orgasm.

“Mm-mm,” he hummed finally, before lifting his eyes. “So pretty Stevie girl.”

Pretty? Stevie had never thought of down there as being pretty. It was tidy thanks to her earlier grooming – thank Jesus - and…functional. But then she’d never stared at herself quite as hard as Clay had just done and he was the connoisseur, not her.

“Open your legs.”

The silky demand slithered like a serpent through her belly, her internal muscles clenching, her breath leaving her throat in a nervous rasp. The idea of it was shocking but also titillating. She just wasn’t sure she could actually go through with it.

Couldn’t he just take over now?

But the hot, steady hold of his gaze was uncompromising. He wasn’t letting her off the hook. If she wanted this then she was going to have to claim it. Clay Calhoun was offering her a sexual experience she’d never had and she was a grown woman and she wanted it. No not it, she wanted him. She wanted his head between her legs, his tongue on her, introducing her to something she’d only ever read about in romance novels.

Swallowing hard, Stevie’s eyes never left his as she eased her legs apart on a husky breath. The action stimulated a deep muscle flutter and it took all of her effort not to moan.

He dropped his gaze then and zeroed in on the aching heart of her. “Oh yeah,” he said on a roughly exhaled breath. “Real pretty.” His nostrils flared as he lifted his gaze again. “I can smell how ready you are.”

Stevie did moan this time, her toes curling as sensation rolled from her belly button to her feet. She could smell her musky arousal, too.

Knocking his hat off his head, Clay palmed her closest leg, lifting it and ducking under as he moved across the blanket to settle himself between her legs, using the breadth of his shoulders to push them wider.

Stevie’s stomach clenched as she looked down her body to him anticipation lighting his features. Her own anticipation fibrillated like an electrical charge just thinking about how his mouth would feel against her already screamingly sensitive flesh, how those whiskers would feel scraping against her inner thighs.

“You might want to lay back.”

She frowned. “Why?”

“Because I’m pretty sure your elbows are going to collapse the second my tongue touches down.”

Ooof…. the man had a way with words.

Licking her lips at the sudden dryness of her mouth she shook her head. “I want to watch.” She didn’t want to miss a minute of this.

“Fuuuck,” he groaned as he dropped his forehead to the top of her thigh for a beat or two before lifting it again. “I don’t think you could have said anything hotter right now.”

“Really?”

The knowledge went straight to her head. Stevie hadn’t ever made a man groan like that just from something she said, and she liked it. It was empowering. It was dizzying.

He chuckled and shook his head. “Such a monster,” he muttered before turning his attention to what was right in front of him.

Lowering his head, he ran the flat of his tongue straight up her slick, aching centre, his eyes meeting hers over the top of her mons as she bucked at the hot jolt of electricity. She would die if he stopped now.

Y’all - it’s been a hectic few weeks where every single spinning plate I was balancing fell down and I’m playing mad-scramble-catch-up. If you’ve sent me an email or a message or have shared reviews or any promo for me on social media, I apologise in advance if I haven’t responded as most everything has fallen through the cracks.

Everyone knows from last newsletter that my daughter and grandbaby left and they are safe and well, if a little colder, back in Ireland. See 🥰 Frickin’ cute or what??🍀

At the same time we were saying those goodbyes, my elderly father was going downhill and there was a lot of stuff going on with him as he deteriorated. We sat vigil at his bedside for those last 2 days as he slowly left us. He was 85 and suffering from dementia so I’m not sad that’s he’s gone - it’s a blessing in so many ways.

It was just a lot, ya know?

Amidst all that I was still doing promo for Engaged, Apparently, 2 other revamped back-list medical romance books released and then, a few days after my father passed, I was on a plane to a weekend of planned author events that yes, I could have cancelled but I can’t explain to you how much I needed them.

Needed to hang out in this lovely bookish community I have around me with book people that have big ‘ol hearts in their eyes. It was fun and well-filling and just the distraction I needed.

Oh, and on top of that I won some awards which was such a thrill.

But none of the fun stuff has been on any of my socials, because well, my brain was too fried TBH plus I felt it would be disrespectful to my dad to be seen celebrating my successes or hawking books so soon after his death. TBH, my dad was the most laid-back, easy-going guy who wouldn’t have given 2 hoots but still, it didn’t feel right.

So, a lot of that social media part of being an author has fallen through the cracks. I’ll be getting to it over the course of the weekend and the next week but yeah…like I said, apologies if I’ve not got back to you - I will, I promise!

February was super busy for me. A bunch of QLD library dates and a Books in Bars event in Sydney which was super fun all celebrating the release of my new romcom - Engaged, Apparently. With 2 more events coming up in the next couple of weeks, 2026 has been quite the whirlwind!

It’s been the most wonderful almost 2 months with our grandson. He’s the most gorgeous little mite and we are so lucky that we’ve had these early weeks with him. Alas they left for Ireland a few days ago which was wrenching but it’s time for his Irish nanny, pa and aunty to get in some baby snuggles. We will be seeing him again in May, so the separation won’t be too long but, oh my…. he’s stolen our hearts.

Attention - book 93 is done!! I swear these suckers gets harder and harder! It’s called Wild and Wanted and is the first in my Redemption Valley Ranch series and is out June 9th! The cover hasn’t been revealed yet but the blurb is below!

sweeney? independent queen who absolutely did not plan to be fake-engaged today.
their dynamic? elite. the tension. the history. the “oh no we might actually like each other” vibes.

this story is funny, warm, and full of those messy feelings that come with going home and realising maybe the life you ran from… might actually be the one you want.

Baby Irish was born on the 18th of Jan - 8 days late! - and, clearly being in no hurry to come earthside, he arrived pretty damn chill and laid back. I was there to see him come into the world and my daughter did such an ah-mazing job. More than that, with them not returning to Ireland and staying with us until mid-March, we are getting so much baby time and totally lapping it up!

I sometimes even let his grandad have a cuddle. Sometimes ☺️

It was done by the fabulous and I cannot recommend her highly enough if you’re looking for a website - new or redesign! I wanted to really simplify the whole site and not overwhelm visitors by trying to cram in every one of my 90 backlist titles and I think she did a wonderful job balancing it all out.

BUT the great news is Annie has also included a downloadable/printable booklist with links to all my backlist titles which you can browse to your hearts content. Its largely chronological and by publisher with linked books or books in a series noted. Seriously, its a goddamn work of art.

Hey lovelies!

Well, its December already and man - I love December. And not just because it’s my birthday on the 21st but because everything is so pretty and festive and there are baubles and carols in the shopping centres and complete strangers will bid each other Merry Xmas even when they’re frazzled by the 101 things to do.

And possibly - possibly - if Baby Irish ☘️ comes a little early, there’ll be another December birthday in the family. Which will make 4 in total but I’m not complaining!

Baby bump update - now 37 weeks gestation and you can bet I’m excited.

I’m also excited that my daughter is home and having the baby here even if I am sad that our son has hit the road again and is now doing a ski season in Japan. He’ll miss out on uncle duties 😭but he’ll catch up with his sister and the bub next year in Ireland. One comes, one goes - cycle of life in this family…

So that’s all my personal news, what else have I got?

Super excited about my romcom, Engaged Apparently, coming out at the beginning of next year and I think it’s high time I shared a little sumthin’ sumthin’ or two, with you.

Firstly - the complete cover, front and back which no-one else has seen yet and I’m pretty sure I’m not even allowed to show you but, what my publisher doesn’t know won’t hurt, right? Shh, secret squirrel😊

And, an exclusive excerpt, also not shared with anyone yet, either! I’m going craaaazy with the secrets today!

‘Have I ever nagged or pressured you about a boyfriend or a husband or having babies and making me a grandmother? Have I?’

‘Mum.’

Connie shook her head, her eyes glowing fiercely. ‘Have I, Sweeney?’

Sweeney swallowed. ‘No.’

Fin frowned. ‘I don’t see what this has got to do with—’

‘Oh, don’t you even,’ Ronnie interjected, nailing Fin with an equally fierce look. ‘Half of this town is made of Murphys, and they’re popping out babies like it’s their job to populate the earth. I’ve been to more Murphy weddings, baby showers and christenings than I’ve pulled beers behind the bar.’

It was true. The Murphys were particularly proficient at reproduction.

‘And even though every relative in Ballyshannon has harassed you about settling down and having a family, I have never once done the same. Never. Like Connie, all I’ve ever wanted for you is to be happy and live the life you want and, even though I miss you, I love that you’re having this grand adventure in Ireland. Your dad would have loved it too.’

Ronnie’s voice cracked a little and it was Fin’s turn to swallow. He hoped she was right because those last angry words he’d exchanged with his father had weighed heavily on Fin’s shoulders.

Connie squeezed her friend’s hand and took over, glancing between him and Sweeney. ‘I think you both know we would never ask this of either of you ordinarily. Never. But we’ve obviously been caught in this lie and, really, would it be that much to ask if you could just—’ Her gaze turned beseeching. ‘Back us up here?’

Fin turned incredulous eyes from Connie to Sweeney, who didn’t have to say anything. Her what the fuck was written all over her face.

‘Yes,’ they said simultaneously.

‘Think of it as a birthday gift,’ Ronnie pressed.

‘Mum,’ Fin spluttered. ‘We flew across the planet to surprise you. That’s the gift.’

Ronnie and Connie exchanged a look that left Fin in no doubt that their presence was a very distant second to this proposed fake engagement. He supposed he should be grateful they hadn’t invented a pregnancy as well.

‘We’re not asking you to actually get married,’ Connie said, as though that made all the difference. ‘Just to … pretend for a bit.’

‘For us.’

‘The women who literally gave you life.’

Ronnie nodded vigorously. ‘I mean, I’ve never told you this, Fin, but I couldn’t sit down properly for over a month after you were born.’

‘It’s true,’ Connie concurred. ‘And she couldn’t sneeze without a little bit of wee coming out for much, much longer than that.’

‘That’s right.’ His mother snatched up the crumb her bestie had laid down. ‘It took years for my vagina to recover from the ruination of that big head of yours.’

Oh dear god.

If Fin could have hacked his ears off in this moment, he would have. He’d spent thirty-two years in blissful ignorance about the state of his mother’s vagina, and now he didn’t know how he was ever not going to think about it.

A quick glance at Sweeney told him she hadn’t been prepared for this level of detail either. ‘I’m … sorry?’ he offered, because what the hell else could he say to that?

Ronnie dismissed his apology with a wave of her hand. ‘This is the perfect way to make it up to me.’

Fin groaned. He sure as hell hadn’t had being emotionally blackmailed by his mother’s ruined vagina on his bingo card for this year.

Connie grabbed Sweeney’s hand. ‘I know it’s a lot to ask but, please, just give us this? We’ll wait for a bit after you both leave and announce the engagement is off.’

‘Yes.’ Ronnie nodded, slipping her hand into Fin’s. ‘Please don’t make us look like desperate idiots in front of the whole town.’

And that was it—the clincher. It would be highly embarrassing for their mothers to have to admit they’d lied tonight. As Fin looked at Sweeney, he could see that she knew it too. Her annoyance had morphed into the same kind of cornered acceptance currently snaking its way through his insides.

‘God …’ Sweeney shook her head. ‘I can’t believe I’m even considering this.’

Fin nodded. ‘Same.’

Although he supposed if he was going to be fake engaged to anybody, Sweeney was the logical choice. They’d known each other forever, been friends forever, which gave them a certain synergy that wouldn’t have been possible in another random pairing in this ridiculous scenario.

She shrugged. ‘You’re going to have to keep it up longer than me.’

Fin was really regretting the decision to stay for four weeks so he could be with his mum for his dad’s birthday—but, as exasperated as he was right now, he couldn’t not stay, either.

He sighed. ‘Probably be easier to pull off with just one of us here anyway.’

‘True,’ she murmured.

‘So …’ Connie looked from one to the other. ‘Is that a yes?’

Fin cocked an eyebrow at Sweeney, who shut her eyes briefly then nodded. And that was all it took for their grinning mothers to sweep them into another group hug.

‘Thank you, thank you,’ Ronnie whispered. ‘And we’re really sorry, again, for putting you in this position.’

‘Yes,’ Connie agreed. ‘We’ll never ask anything of you again after this.’

‘Pinkie swear,’ Ronnie echoed.

Fin rolled his eyes. Right now, fake engaged to his oldest friend in the world, he would take that promise with a grain of salt…

Okay, maybe one more? A tender one to prove there’s also a lotta emotion going on?

Well, it’s been a hot minute right?? Last newsletter was mid-August before conference and then straight into overseas travel and there’s been no time for sitting at the ‘puter writing about it. But there is now so buckle up and follow along for the good times 🤩

If you want to be boring and all you can just skip straight to the end where the September (yes, I am behind, don’t judge me!) freebie lives. But then you’re going to miss out on all my pics and my gorgeous new cover so….

First up RWAustralia conference in Hobart - all the fun catching up with peeps I didn’t get the chance with last year as Covid struck me down in my hotel room. Stoopid Covid! 😡But I made up for it starting with a pre-conference cellar door tour and things only got better including room parties where we tried to see how many people you *can* fit on a romance authors bed 🤩

Then, after 2 days at home we were off to Ireland to visit our daughter and then on to the UK for a book event and mini retreat as well as some canal boating with friends!

First up, the girl and her 26 week bump and a pic from her surprise baby shower her lovely Irish friends organised! Also - when in Ireland, one must pub!

And then we spent 2 weeks on the Kennet and Avon canal in England from Bath to Newbury and back again with 2 different sets of friends!

Where, also by the way I got my domestic boating goddess on and cooked (I shit you not) a pie from wild foraged blackberries and apples! Fuck yeah, just call me Nigella, baby 🤩 After that magic I put my feet up and enjoyed a vino or two!

All too soon our time on the good ship Topsy was over and we headed into one of my favourite places in the world - London. Where we minded the gap a lot as we mooched around just being in London.

And, I had 2 editorial meetings talking about my schedules and contracts etc. One with Megan from Boldwood. The other with Flo from Harlequin. Have I mentioned how fucking much I love London???

Then it was off to Scotland where I met up with the fab Pippa Roscoe and Rachael Stewart for an event at Book Lovers in Edinburgh to talk all things Karma Club which was super-duper fun!! before heading off on a road trip/mini retreat where we brainstormed up an entire new series idea now the Karma Club is done and dusted! We also did a lot of sea glassing as part of research for the book I’m starting very soon!

As you can see - we packed A LOT in 😍and leaving our kiddo in Ireland is always hard but she’ll be back in 9 weeks and there’ll be a baby about a month after that which eases the wrench!

So now I’m back - yay! And, once I’ve caught up on about a million things, I guess I better get on with that sea glass book, right??

Xiomara smiled at his easy humour. It would have been fair for Edmund to be annoyed at her invasion of his privacy. As well as arriving unannounced on his doorstep with two guys—the confirmed presence of the paparazzi had dictated more manpower—who regarded him as a potential threat to their protectee. The fact that he wasn’t, that he was almost amused by it, cranked up his sex appeal another notch.

‘They just need to check out your apartment then they’ll leave.’

‘Do you mind, Dr Butler?’ Xavier asked.

Edmund didn’t say anything for a beat, he just held her gaze before sliding his hand up the doorframe, anchoring his fingers over the top and stepping aside. Carlos stayed behind in the corridor as Xavier entered the apartment and there they stood, him and her, just looking at each other, gazes locked, as a beefy guy in black moved around behind Edmund and another stood sentinel behind her.

But her security might as well not have been there for all Xiomara noticed, her world narrowed down to the man directly in front of her, staring at her with heat and intent, every deliciously wicked thought going through his head right there in his amber eyes for her to see. Any temporary doubts she might have had about a one-sided desire completely obliterated.

He wanted her. As much as she wanted him.

Her pulse tripped like crazy, a tiny hammer at her temples and throat. Her nipples poked hard as diamonds against the confines of her bra. An ache, hot and needy, flared between her legs and it was all Xiomara could do to not squeeze her thighs together.

‘All clear,’ Xavier announced as he exited the apartment. ‘Call us when you’re ready to come home later.’

G’day lovelies!

It’s been a whole month since we chatted and it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. I went on a fabulous retreat with author mates where we talked and talked and talked and plotted and planned and brainstormed and drank a lot of wine and played Cards Against Humanity romance edition waaaay too late which I won BTW because how can you not when you get such winner cards as below?

I also tripped over to Perth and attended the WOW (Wild out West) signing which was huuuge and fun and I got to meet so many amazing readers *and* see my bootiful special edition signing stock of The Payback Plan with cupcake sprayed edges. Lovelies, I cannot even begin to describe how gorgeous those edges are - they made my heart sing. And they sold out in 2 hours!! Two freaking hours!!!!

But its back to reality now. Working on another book while doing varying stages of revisions on three different books - my brain is swirling, y’all! Rest assured though, I haven’t forgotten about you guys. I have another excerpt - a sexy one this time - from The Payback Plan. Sure, it’s a romcom but its spicy too! Have you picked it up yet? No? Sexy excerpt #1 The Payback Plan - Paige attacks Oliver with a violin

In a last-ditch attempt to stay upright, his arms flailing in mid-air, he grabbed hold of the closest solid thing. Which just happened to be Paige.

Before she knew it, they were down.

Thankfully, Oliver broke her fall as they collapsed in a pile, the remnants of the violin flying from her hand as sheets of escaped paper fell around them like confetti. He let out a wrenching, ‘Ophff’ as he landed on his back and she landed on his front, her face in his neck, her hair spread over his face, her breasts squashed into his chest, her legs straddling his hips and his hands firmly on her ass.

Their groins shockingly aligned.

For a beat or two neither of them did anything, they just lay stock-still, breathing. Paige shut her eyes and inhaled his scent as she tried to harness the analytical centre of her brain to make it make sense but he smelled of old boxes which she didn’t know until right this minute could be such a turn on.

As was the scratch of whiskers against her cheek. And the thick bulge between his legs pressing intimately between her legs. Her wine brain was all well hello, sailor and she wanted nothing more than to purr and stretch a little.

Stupid wine brain.

Yanking herself back from the ridiculous urge to rub herself shamelessly against him, Paige slapped her palms on the floor either side of his head and levered herself upright, the frizz of her hair falling forward as she stared into his face. Their eyes met and she wondered idly how fair it was that his eyes were almost freaking luminous in the dark. Like a cat. A sleek jungle cat.

Oh, shut up, wine brain!

‘You’re not supposed to be home until tomorrow,’ she accused, glaring at him but the breathiness of her voice softened the effect.

Really, being sprawled on him like this was quite discombobulating.

‘I decided to come back early,’ he replied crankily, also glaring.

‘Why didn’t you knock or use your key?’ she demanded. ‘Instead of rattling the bloody handle like you were trying to break in?’

‘I did knock,’ he griped. ‘But there was some kind of racket going on in here and I was using my key but with my arms full of boxes it was difficult and it took a few attempts.’

Racket? Did the man have no appreciation for classic hits?

Paige glared some more, so did he, the chug of their breathing louder than the background music. But then Paige became aware of his big hands warm on her ass and her heart rate, still elevated from her ninja moves, changed tempo. It morphed to more of a hard thud than a desperate trip as she tried to figure out why in the hell she was suddenly so hot and why in God’s name she wasn’t attempting to get off him.

As if he knew where her mind was or maybe it was just a reflexive thing, his fingers dug in a little. Ordinarily, when a guy had his hands on her bum, Paige would fret about its fleshiness but that was the furthest thing from her thoughts as the intimacy of their position was making itself more and more known.

Her yoga pants allowed her to easily feel every damn contour of what he was packing behind his fly and it was a lot. Between the thinness of the stretch cotton and their position, nothing was left to the imagination. Perfect for a little downward dogging.

Paige shut her eyes. Oh dear God, shut up, wine brain.

‘Paige.’

It was soft and low and she opened her eyes slowly, willing herself not to grind against him, not to move. Their eyes met briefly, his black pupils large, almost obliterating the blue of his irises. And then his gaze drifted to her mouth.

‘Paige…’

It was softer this time, lower. A rumble of air that sounded as if it had come from the depths of the earth. And that’s what did it. The raw ache in his voice pulsing between them. He seemed as lost in this moment as she was, her guilt from only ten minutes ago evaporating, disappearing into the ether. Lust fogged her head, replacing propriety with a roaring imperative to touch.

Her pulse a percussion section in her ears, Paige swooped down, her breasts flattening against his chest as she pressed her mouth to his.

This time neither of them were tentative. Neither of them froze at the audacity of the action. The kiss flared bright, right from the first touch of their lips and Paige moaned as the hands clutching her ass pulled her in tighter.

There was no Just Desserts. No payback plan. No Bella. Just him, solid and good between her legs.

Her breath caught in her throat as she pressed herself against him, trying to get closer to those contours that were thickening by the second. His low groan filled her head and the taste of coffee on his tongue was like a spoonful of Affogato. Sweet and bitter and absolutely no good for her but hell if she could resist anything Italian.

A hand shoved into her hair, a palm grazed her cheek and she leaned into it as their mouths moved and shifted, their tongues tangling, hunting relentlessly for the next gasp, the next moan.

‘Jesus, Paige,’ he muttered against her mouth, his breathing hot and ragged on her face before he shoved his other hand in her hair and went back for more.

One kiss, two. Deep. Hard. Then a throaty groan and suddenly, she was on her back, his mouth barely leaving hers as he performed the feat, his body half over hers, pressing her into the floor, his hand sliding to her hip, to her waist, under her shirt, trailing fire.

Trailing desire.

His hand found her bra and Paige moaned, her fingers twisting into the hair at his nape and tugging as he cupped her breast and squeezed, her nipple hardening in a second streaking pleasure in a line that went directly to the bullseye right between her legs.

It did not pass go, it did not collect two hundred pounds.

Then, suddenly, two loud thumps on the front door, shattered their clinch as decisively as a falling axe. ‘Police,’ a voice boomed from the other side as blue light slid under and bled around the door surrounds, turning the darkened hallway into some kind of macabre disco as it strobed across the wreckage of the violin. ‘Open up.’

Startled, they sprang apart as if they were about to be arrested for… what? Making out. Betraying a friend. Again. Paige winced.

Damn you, wine brain.

His chest, his abs, his cock. His very hard cock, which must be patently fucking obvious now she was fully crouched in front of him.

Expelling a breath, Theo reached for his whiskey and took a deep swallow as, head bowed, Tiffany wordlessly reached for the lace and tied it in a double bow. He gripped the glass hard as his pulse slugged hot and urgent through his groin, and he desperately tried not to think about the sexual connotation of their position.

But when she tipped her chin and met his gaze and said through that shiny red mouth, ‘Anything else I can do for you while I’m down here, sir?’ he knew he was fucked.

He might have started this, but she was going to finish it.

Dredging resistance from God knew where, he gave her a sardonic smile. ‘Thank you, stew, that won’t be necessary.’

‘Are you sure?’ One of those thickly arched brows of hers winged upwards as she reached for his belt. ‘You look kinda tense. I probably have’ – she pursed her red pouty mouth briefly before continuing – ‘just the thing for that.’

Her blatant suggestion was like a direct squeeze to his balls, and Theo almost groaned out loud. ‘Tiffany,’ he warned, his pulse a hammer at his temples.

‘After all,’ she reminded him again as her fingers pulled the belt free of its loop and went to work on the buckle, ‘I didn’t take any celibacy vow.’

Like he needed to be reminded of that. ‘Tiffany,’ he muttered as she made short work of the buckle. ‘This is not appropriate.’

Her hand stilled on the button of his waistband. ‘You want me to stop?’

She looked at him through eyelashes liberally plied in mascara, her smoky kohled eyes all big and round and innocent. Despite the taut spiral of tension cramping every muscle, Theo gave a grudging smile. How was it possible to look so damn virtuous with that red mouth hinting at something so fucking wicked?

‘I don’t want you to… service me like it’s part of your job description.’

The words spilled out harsher than he’d meant, but they were as much for him as they were for her. With very little blood left in his brain, he was finding resistance harder and harder and, as a guy who was usually well disciplined, it was discombobulating.

He’d certainly never lost his head like this with a woman. Breaching God knew how many employer conduct codes and workplace laws, not to mention dicing a little too close to the edge with the whole celibacy thing. He should reach down and yank her to her feet, but that mouth of hers ratcheted up his level of thrall.

‘But what if I want to service you?’ She met his gaze directly as her fingers worked to undo the button of his fly.

Theo swallowed. The way she said service was in-fucking-decent.

‘What if I get off on making a hot Greek playboy billionaire look at me like that?’

The button popped.

‘Like what?’ he asked, his breath roughening as Tiffany slowly lowered the zip, the metallic scrape of the pull tab and the teeth opening – one by fucking one – like a fingernail scraping along his shaft. ‘How am I looking at you?’

‘Like I created the heavens and earth and that you’d give anything’ – the zip reached the bottom – ‘the contents of your bank account, this boat, your next breath, for me to open my mouth and take your cock.’ Her hand slipped away as her hazel gaze pinned him to the spot. ‘Right. To. The. Back.’

Hans Gruber’s face was still frozen on the screen when they entered. The TV took up half the wall and below it, flush with the plaster, a long, sleek, artificial fireplace aglow with the dance of orange LED flames kept the room toasty warm.

Outside it was Vladivostok. Inside it was Margaritaville.

In warmer climes, the doors situated behind a dark, remote-controlled blind, opened straight onto the beach but Oliver hadn’t opened them since the beginning of November.

The room was expensively furnished with three couches – one triple, two singles – grouped in front of the fireplace. Large, black bookshelves containing an impressive library of CDs, lined the walls either side. On top of the shelves sat his father’s awards, subtle ceiling downlights positioned to illuminate them just so.

Five Oliviers, four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, two Tonys, one Oscar. And a partridge in a pear tree.

‘Aren’t you a month too late for Die Hard?’

Oliver dragged his gaze from the intimidating ranks of his father’s success. ‘What?’

‘It’s a Christmas movie,’ she said, once again regarding him like he wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. ‘And you’re watching it in January.’

Oh hell no. She was one of them. ‘Just because a movie happens to be set during Christmas does not make it a Christmas movie.’

For a moment he thought he saw her lips twitch before they pulled into an irritated little moue. ‘It’s set on Christmas Eve. There’s a Christmas party going on. There’s a massive Christmas tree right there in the foyer of Nakatomi Plaza. It has Christmas music. His wife is called Holly!’

‘Right. Which merely makes it… Christmas adjacent.’ Seriously, he shouldn’t need to explain this. ‘A classic Christmas movie has to have a certain vibe.’

She frowned. ‘Like what?’

‘Warmth, joy, hopefulness. Jesus. Peace, love, goodwill to all men. A Christmas message.’

‘I think “Don’t mess with John McLean on Christmas Eve” is a pretty clear message.’

‘Exactly. The levels of action and violence absolutely rule it out of the Christmas movie canon.’

She shot him an incredulous look. ‘Have you never watched Home Alone?’

Oliver grimaced. She’d been in his home for ten minutes and he was already regretting it. He certainly didn’t want to have this argument with someone who didn’t appreciate the nuance of cinematic mores. ‘It looks like we’re going to have to agree to disagree.’

‘Okay.’ She shrugged and Oliver almost sighed out loud that she’d dropped it so easily. ‘I’ll tell you what else it is, though. It’s a romance.’

Had Oliver been consuming some kind of food or drink right now, he’d have probably choked to death. No. Nope. Abso-fucking-lutely no way. ‘Um, no. It’s an action film.’

She sighed with an exaggerated kind of patience he imagined she used when catching Bunky feeding Flower rodent crack. ‘It’s a romance.’

‘He blows up the Nakatomi Plaza.’

‘Yeah, but he’s not doing it for shits and giggles, is he?’

‘No, he’s doing it because he’s a cop. To get the baddies. It’s instinct. And he’s that kind of guy.’

Another sigh. ‘Yes, you’re right, he is that kind of guy. But he’s not doing it for law enforcement or to save all those bearer bonds or for the Nakatomi organisation. He’s doing it for her. For his wife. The stakes would be nowhere near as high for him if it was just random people. He’s doing it for the woman he loves.’ She crossed her arms as if resting her case. ‘Romance.’

Until a few minutes ago, Oliver would have disagreed vehemently that the film could be classified as a romance and he was still of that opinion. But Paige had definitely made him look at it from a different angle.

And, on top of everything else, that was seriously fucking maddening.

‘Let me guess,’ she said, ‘this is your favourite scene?’

‘It is actually,’ Oliver confirmed, annoyed at the defensiveness in his tone. ‘I take it it’s not yours?’

‘No, it’s mine too. Ever since Alan Rickman gave that office tart a necklace at Christmas and broke Emma Thompson’s heart, anyway.’

She smiled at him then like she hadn’t just conflated a character’s deserved comeuppance in one film with their actions in another. From fifteen years later.

Who even did that?

‘Would you mind if I went and settled in? I’ve got some unpacking to do and some work to catch up on and I shouldn’t leave Flower too long in unfamiliar surroundings.’

Oliver shook his head. Frankly he needed a stiff drink and a good lie down.

‘Thanks so much for this, Oliver.’ She crossed to him then and, without a second’s hesitation, wrapped her arms around him in a quick, hard hug. ‘I promise, you won’t even know I’m here,’ she said as she pulled out of his stiff embrace and headed for the stairs, a living, breathing rainbow.

Somehow, Oliver entirely doubted it.

Deleted scene time!!

A few years back I wrote a rom-com series called Credence, Colorado.

The first book is Nothing But Trouble. Wade is the hero, but he has a brother called Wyatt who is a 40-year-old virgin - OMG yaaas, right?? I gave him a romantic sub-plot throughout the book and even wrote the scene where he finally gets his cherry popped but it was felt, in edits, that it detracted from the main story, so I cut it.

BUT I DIDN’T TOSS IT - oh no! I kept it 😈😈😈and its now yours to enjoy. You don’t have to have read Nothing But Trouble to enjoy it but, I hope you might check it out if the deleted scene piques your interest!

Hence, endeavour!

I’m looking forward to 26/27 when the word might be party or fun 🥰 but to get there, I gotta do the work this year so wish me luck!
