If your sales are slower than usual, or maybe your crafty brain isn’t working as creatively as you’d like it to be, or you feel like everyone except you is on vacation, I want you to know something:

You’re not alone.

Every year, without fail, Summer seems to bring a completely different rhythm.

• People are traveling.

• Kids are out of school.

• Schedules are changing.

• Routines disappear.

• Even the days feel different.

And yet, so many of us still expect ourselves (and our small businesses) to operate exactly the same way as we did in January.

But after doing this for years, I’ve realized that Summer isn’t necessarily a sign that something is wrong.

It’s a season. (wow, mind blown!)

lol, but seriously. Life is separated in seasons for a reason! As creators and business owners, it’s easy to forget that the people on the other side of the screen are living their lives, too. They’re spending time with their families, taking vacations, enjoying longer evenings, and making memories.

Your habits shift.

Because habits shift, our businesses and creative brains shift right along with them.

So, I’ve started looking at slower seasons as an opportunity rather than a setback.

• When things are busy, we’re usually focused on keeping up.

• But when things slow down, we have the chance to improve.

We can organize our spaces, learn new projects, test new materials, and prepare for the busy seasons that return.

And TBH, some of my BEST ideas have appeared when I finally had enough space to just think!

So, if your business feels slower than usual right now, here are a few things you can do instead of panicking:

• ✂️ Organize your craft room.

• 📸 Update your product photography.

• 💻 Clean up your device files and folders.

• 🎥 Batch content in advance.

• 📚 Learn a new craft.

• 🧠 Brainstorm ideas you’ve been putting off.

• ☕ Take a break without feeling guilty.

^ really try to do the last one.

Remember, rest is productive too.

The truth is that every season teaches us something.

• 🌸 Spring teaches us to begin.

• ☀️ Summer teaches us to be patient.

• 🍂 Autumn teaches us to prepare.

• ❄️ Winter teaches us to rest.

And maybe this summer is simply reminding you that growth doesn’t always happen in front of everyone.

Sometimes it happens quietly, behind the scenes.

What is it you ask, that’s floating around in this crafty brain of mine?

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to grow a business.

When I first started selling products, everything was handmade by me. Every bookmark, every package, every order that went out on display at my markets represented hours of work. I loved that part of it (and still do), but it also made me realize something...

There are only so many hours in a day.

As creative entrepreneurs, I think it’s easy to fall into the mindset that we have to do everything ourselves. We like to wear that as a badge of honor because handmade businesses are built on heart, creativity, and dedication.

But what if growing doesn’t mean making more products?

What if it means making room for something new?

That question is what inspired my newest YouTube video.

I compare this to baking a cake in the video because it felt like the best way to describe what I’ve been thinking. You wouldn’t intentionally leave out an ingredient that could make the cake taste even better. Sometimes it’s the little additions that make the biggest difference.

So instead of asking, “Should I stop making handmade products?” I started asking, “What could complement what I already make?”

That shift completely changed my perspective.

Trying something new is uncomfortable.

Especially when you’ve found a rhythm that works, yeah, most of us want to stick to what we know. But sometimes the next chapter of your business, or your life, starts with a question you’re brave enough to explore.

You know those beautiful craft rooms you see all over Pinterest?

The ones where every roll of vinyl is perfectly color-coordinated, there’s a huge desk area to craft (like have you seen those DreamBox furniture sets by Create Room?) and somehow there’s never a single piece of dirt on the table?

Mine doesn’t always look like that.

More often than I’d like to admit, my desk slowly turns into a collection of half-finished projects, scribbled pieces of paper with crafting notes, and supplies that I was “definitely going to put away later.”

And somehow... “later” never comes.

I’ve also noticed something interesting over the years.

Whenever I start feeling stuck creatively or overwhelmed by my to-do list, it usually isn’t because I’ve ran out of ideas.

It’s because my space is asking for a reset.

A clean craft room doesn’t ✨magically✨ solve every problem, but it does remove one more thing standing between you and getting started.

So this month, I made a promise that I would do just that!!

Whether it takes you 30 minutes or an entire afternoon, I hope it helps you feel a little more inspired the next time you sit down to create… because it sure helped me and I want that for you too!

• Sanding Block (Fine)

• White Removable Vinyl

• Mod Podge

• Black Paint

• Polyurethane (Oil-Based)

But of course, you can use any woodland, western, or nature-inspired design you'd like!

🛠️ Instructions

Step 1: Upload the Design in Cricut Design Space

Upload the PNG images into Cricut Design Space and size it for your coaster. All of the wood slices vary in size, so double-check those measurements with a ruler!

You may have to size them all differently.

Step 2: Prep The Wood Slices

Start by lightly sanding each wood slice.

This helps smooth out any rough areas and gives you a better surface for both the stencil and paint. Remember to use a FINE sanding block, I used 220 grit!

You don’t need to go crazy here, just a quick sanding will do!

Step 3: Cut The Stencil With Your Cricut

Place the removable vinyl onto the mat and send it to cut. Removable vinyl is my go-to for any stencil or paint project because it doesn’t ruin the blank and is durable enough for painting!

Setting Used: Premium Outdoor Vinyl

Step 4: Weed the Design (Opposite of Normal!) + Apply Transfer Tape

Once the Cricut is done cutting, remove the vinyl from the mat. Then cut each stencil so all the designs are separated.

Here’s the important part:

Since this is a stencil, you’ll want to use your weeder tool and weed out the actual design, not the background.

Normally, we weed to reveal the design, but this time we’re creating empty spaces in order for us to paint! It helps to refer back to the original images to make sure you’re weeding it correctly 😅

Once the stencils are weeded, apply transfer tape with your scraper tool to scrape it firmly, then remove the transfer tape so only the stencil remains on the wood slice.

Step 5: Apply Mod Podge, Then Paint!

This is the step that saves projects. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge first, over the stencil before painting.

This seals the edges of the vinyl and prevents paint from bleeding underneath.

Then once it’s dry, apply the paint using a dabbing motion. Always build the color with multiple, thin coats rather than one thick coat!

The thinner coats take a little longer, but you’ll get much cleaner results.

Step 6: Remove The Stencil

Immediately remove the vinyl stencil (even when the paint is still wet!)

This is always my favorite part because you finally get to see those crisp, paint lines.

Step 7: Seal Your Coasters!

To make these coasters durable and water-resistant, apply a coat of polyurethane.

I followed the exact instructions on my can:

• Apply a thin, first coat

• Let it dry for 3–4 hours

• Lightly sand

• Apply the second coat

• Allow to cure for 24 hours

This extra step makes a HUGE difference in longevity!! Now, your coasters are ready to be used!

🛠️ Instructions

Step 1: Upload the Polaroid Frames to Cricut Design Space

First, upload the downloadable PNGs into Cricut Design Space. You’ll receive both a front and back layer.

The polaroid frame will vary in size depending on the size of your polaroid photo, but most polaroids are about the same (2” x 3.3” inches). Double check yours, but these are the measurements I used:

• Full Polaroid Frame Size: 3.4”W x 4.5”H

Once both layers are sized equally, you can adjust the colors.

Step 2: Prep the Cricut Mat + Cut the Felt

Next, prepare your Cricut Mat by placing your Felt onto the FabricGrip mat, and switch out your blade to the Rotary Blade.

Remember to cut:

• Front Frame Layer (open)

• Back Frame Layer

Then, let the Cricut cut your felt!

Cut Setting: “Felt, Acrylic Fabric” with More Pressure

Step 3: Stitch The Inside Front Frame

Once your Cricut is finished cutting the felt, gently remove both layers from the mat and start with the front layer!

First, you’ll stitch around the inner photo opening using a blanket stitch. I show this process briefly in my video tutorial, but if you need more help, watch this video!

This gives it that soft, handmade look and helps reinforce the frame opening.

Step 4: Add Charms + Accessories

Before attaching the front and back layers together, decorate the front!

I added:

• letter beads

• charms

• other little beads

Remember to use a smaller needle when threading beads. Trust me, it makes life easier 😅

Step 5: Sew The Front + Back Layers Together

Next, it’s time to attach the front and back felt pieces together using another blanket stitch!

Start at the top right corner and work your way around.

🚨 IMPORTANT: If you want to replace your polaroid photo, only fully stitch the top front layer. This will leave the photo opening accessible so you can slide any photo in and out of the frame! If not, simply insert your photo, then stitch both layers together to close the frame.

Step 6: Add Magnets

Attach 2 magnets to the back so you can display it on items like:

• lockers

• fridges

• magnetic boards

• craft carts

This is optional (you can also add a string to make it into an ornament!)

Step 7: Insert Your Polaroid Photo

Finally, slide your polaroid photo into the opening, and now you officially have the cutest, tiniest memory frame ever 🥹📸✨

Tips to Remember

• Use the Rotary Blade. For cleaner, precise felt cuts, using the rotary blade makes a HUGE difference compared to the fine point blade!

• Don’t Stitch the Photo Opening Closed. Remember to test and leave enough room for your polaroid photo to slide in easily. This project will NEED you to make a test cut, so you don’t waste your material or time!

• Take Your Time Blanket Stitching. The blanket stitch will be the most time-consuming part of this project, so don’t rush! This stitch is what makes the project look polished and handmade.

🛠️ Instructions

Step 1: Upload the Labels to Cricut Design Space

Upload the downloadable PNGs (or JPGs) into Cricut Design Space. Here’s the entire breakdown:

• 28 Blends

• 11 Herbs

• 20 Spices

• Total Labels: 59

The labels will vary in size depending on the size of your jar. For the jars I used, the label size will be 1.75” x 1.75”

Make sure to attach all the labels so they stay in place for prepping the Cricut mat!

Step 2: Print the Labels

This is a Print Then Cut project. First, print the labels using your printer.

Remember to turn on the bleed option so it cuts accurately!

Then, take the label paper and apply it to your LightGrip Mat to prepare for the next step: cutting!

Step 3: Waterproof Your Labels

Before you cut your labels, you want to waterproof them! (because these are kitchen labels after all, and you want your labels to last!)

Remember to apply the laminate INSIDE the black registration marks.

Step 4: Send To Scan + Cut

Since this is a Print Then Cut project, the Cricut will perform the following:

• A quick scan of the registration marks

• Cut the labels (2x)

Cut Setting: “Light Chipboard” with “More” Pressure

Step 5: Apply The Label

Once your Cricut is finished cutting the labels, apply the label to your jar.

TIP: If you’re making an entire collection, it helps to align each label with the other jars, so they all look cohesive and aesthetic!

Step 6: Get to Organizing!

Finally, you can start filling your jars with the appropriate blends, herbs, and spices, and organize your kitchen!

You can see in the video that I used my favorite taco seasoning from Trader Joe’s… it’s the best for taco night! 🌮

The credit card wand will vary in size depending on the size of your credit card, although most are about the same size (3.3” x 2” inches). Double check yours, but these are the measurements I used:

• Star Size: 6.67” x 6.38” inches (make sure it’s slightly larger than the credit card slot so it’s hidden)

• Credit Card Slot Size: 3.7” x 2.2” inches (because the credit card size is 3.3” x 2”)

• Mini Star Size: 2.83” x 2.7” inches

Once they’re sized, you can adjust the colors to separate the layers. Remember to duplicate the star layer twice for the front AND back.

Step 2: Prep the Cricut Mat + Cut the Felt

Next, prepare your Cricut Mat by placing your Felt onto the FabricGrip mat, and switch out your blade to the Rotary Blade.

Remember: this project requires the following layers:

• 2 Large Star Pieces (front + back)

• 1 Mini Star

• 1 Credit Card Slot

Then, let the Cricut cut your felt!

Step 3: Assemble the Front

Once your Cricut is finished cutting the felt, gently remove the layers from the mat and start with the front layer!

You’ll glue the Mini (Accent) Star onto the front star piece with my favorite Craft Glue. It dries fast, so be careful!!

Optional, but very cute:

• Add letter beads

• Add a star bead (this is what I did!)

• Add another accent layer (like another mini star)

Step 4: Create the Credit Card Slot

Take the Credit Card rectangle piece and position it onto the back star layer.

• Glue it down first (for extra hold)

• Sew it using the backstitch (ONLY the sides and bottom)

🚨 Remember, do NOT sew the top and sew the sides as close to the edge as possible. This is where the credit card slides in!

P.S. if you’re not a sewing pro, that’s OK, I’m not either! I literally learned how to do this stitch for the first time and followed this easy TikTok tutorial!

Step 5: Sew The Stars Together

Finally, attach the front and back stars together, using the blanket stitch. This honestly made the star look SO cute and professional.

Again, I’m no expert sewer, but I followed another tutorial for this step!

Remember to start at the bottom, and leave some room to add the filler and stick.

Step 6: Stuff The Wand

Before closing it completely, fill the wand with:

• Cotton Balls

• or Polyfill

All I had was cotton balls, so that’s what I used! This gives it that plush, magical look.

Then, you can glue it together with the swizzle stick and craft glue.

Step 7: Add Your Ribbon

Next, to give your wand a more ✨whimsical✨ look, add ribbons! I loved the thick chiffon ribbon and sparkle ribbon I used.

Just tie them onto the swizzle stick starting with the sparkle ribbon, then chiffon, then another sparkle ribbon.

Step 8: Insert Your Credit Card to Sprinkle the *Magic*

Finally, you can slide your credit card into the back pocket to let the magic begin!

…and just like that, you have a Credit Card Wand you made yourself!! 💳✨

🛠️ Instructions

Step 1: Start in Cricut Design Space

Start by making a copy of the template in Cricut Design Space. You can grab the template above! Click “Make It” when you’re ready.

This design uses 2 Cricut Operations:

• Draw (for the rainbow/hat coloring design)

• Cut (for the card shape and crayon slots)

Step 2: Let the Cricut Draw + Cut

Your Cricut will:

1. Draw the rainbow outlined image

2. Cut the scalloped card shape

3. Cut the small slots that hold the crayons

Make sure the 0.4 pen is loaded first, then your Cricut will prompt you to switch to the blade.

Step 3: Remove from the Cricut Mat

Once the project is finished cutting, carefully remove the cardstock from the mat.

A simple trick is to flip the mat over and peel the mat away from the paper so the card doesn’t bend!

Step 4: Insert the Crayons

Grab your mini crayons and insert them through the small slots in the card.

You can also secure them with glue dots or tape on the back if needed.

Now you have a mini coloring card ready to gift! Perfect for keeping little hands busy 🎨

If you’ve been in the Cricut world lately, you’ve probably heard crafters talking about DTF transfers.

And when Cricut launched their own transfers, I was very curious. So naturally… I had to try them!

I recently tried Cricut’s new DTF transfers in a project I shared on Instagram and TikTok (those posts were sponsored), but I wanted to write a fully honest breakdown here because a lot of you asked questions like:

• Are they actually worth the price?

• Do they replace HTV?

• Are they beginner friendly?

• How do they compare to other DTF companies?

So, this post is everything I wish I knew before trying them.

(And no, this post is not sponsored!)

First: What Are DTF Transfers?

D.T.F. stands for “Direct To Film”.

So instead of cutting vinyl like we normally do with a Cricut machine, the design is already printed onto a transfer sheet and ready to heat press.

From there, you:

1. place the transfer onto the blank

2. heat press it

3. peel the carrier sheet

Think of DTF as the middle ground between Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) and screen printing.

It allows for super detailed artwork without layering vinyl.

Next: What I Loved About Cricut’s DTF Transfers

✔ No Weeding

This alone is huge. No tiny vinyl pieces flying everywhere.

✔ Super Detailed Artwork

Textures and small details printed beautifully. The colors were vibrant and adhered beautifully (even on darker fabrics)!

✔ Soft Feel on Fabric

The transfer feels flexible and not stiff like thick HTV sometimes does. I also noticed a difference in Cricut’s DTF compared to other common companies.

🤔 What You Should Know Before Buying

Even though I throughly enjoyed using Cricut DTF transfers, there are a few things to keep in mind.

They Still Require a Heat Press

You’ll still need a Cricut EasyPress or heat press. However, you do NOT need your Cricut machine or a printer since the transfer will be already made and mailed to your door!

You Can’t Customize the Design

With HTV you can cut anything or add on layers in case you needed to make any changes.

DTF transfers are pre-printed artwork, so you choose a design, and then have it printed (unless you have your own DTF printer at home!)

The Pricing

Depending on the design size, DTF transfers can sometimes cost more than cutting the vinyl yourself. Think about how much time you’ll save, since time is money!

Cricut DTF vs. Other DTF Brands

Here’s a quick comparison chart based on what I’ve seen in the crafting space:

So depending on your goals:

• hobby crafting → Cricut DTF Transfers are your go-to!

• selling items → Ninja Transfers or 143 Vinyl may make more sense

My Favorite DTF Supplies

If you’re experimenting with DTF, here are a few things I recommend having on hand:

• Heat Press

  • Try a Cricut EasyPress or a Clamshell Heat Press

• Heat Resistant Tape

  • Helps keep transfers from shifting

• Cricut EasyPress Pad

  • If you don’t have a clamshell heat press, an EasyPress pad is necessary so you don’t damage your desk or heat pressing area!

• Teflon Sheet

  • Protects your design during pressing

So… Are Cricut DTF Transfers Worth It?

In my opinion?

Yes… for certain projects.

If you want:

• fast designs

• detailed graphics

• less weeding

They’re a great option!

But if you need to order designs in bulk or want to build your own Gang sheets, other companies will be better for you (financially) in the long run!

Or if you want the luxury of making, cutting, weeding and heat pressing your own projects, HTV will still be your best friend.
