Happy August!

This August is going to be a slower, quieter month. If a newsletter lands in your inbox, it’ll simply be because I’ve missed writing. Right now, I really need—and want—to rest, slow down, enjoy what I’m doing, enjoy what I’m not doing, and spend proper quality time with my family.

I’d actually planned four newsletters with topics that I think could be really useful ahead of the new season, so I may still send those if the mood strikes. But one thing I definitely will be doing is pausing all paid subscriptions for the month. There won’t be any paid newsletters in August (and if there happens to be one, it certainly won’t be behind the paywall), because charging you while I’m taking a break simply wouldn’t feel fair.

JOURNAL ENTRY XV.

The Holiday Break.

I’m writing this on the last day of Mercury retrograde and the first day of Leo season. Does that have anything to do with it? Honestly, I’ve no idea. But what I do know is that this final day of Mercury retrograde is reminding me that I’m in desperate need of a holiday and a break from the city and almost everything.

To give you the very short version: a very lively 16-month-old with her leg in plaster and unable to go to nursery, a four-year-old with endless energy and no school, the end-of-term rush at work with everyone desperate to get away on holiday, a broken tooth and NO ONE in Madrid who can fix it, and four invoices – already overdue – paid into a bank account that doesn’t even exist anymore… and that’s only scratching the surface.

So yes, the need to get out of Madrid and switch off for a few days is… imperative.

I don’t know whether it’s comforting that it’s not just me this has happened to. Talking to all my friends and colleagues, it’s been a recurring theme – this July has been unusually intense, relentless and absolutely stifling. Not just work, although that’s definitely been busy too (and I’m grateful for that), but life in general: big personal experiences, everyday life, and on top of that, the endless heatwaves we’ve been having.

That’s why I kept mentioning Mercury and the energy shifts. Everything feels stirred up, and I genuinely feel like the energy has been so intense. Can someone who actually knows more about this than I do please confirm it and explain it properly? Because of it, I’ve felt this huge need to write more, to bring a thousand thoughts back down to earth and somehow make sense of all the new emotions and ideas that have been coming up. Therapy, journalling, moments on my own, my friends and my husband have all been absolutely essential.

Do you know that feeling of desperately wanting to go on holiday, while at the same time feeling guilty for it because you have work? I’ve worked so hard to build the kind of career I have now – the clients, the consistency, the projects that genuinely excite me, a working life that’s slowly becoming what I always hoped it would be. And yet sometimes I feel like I don’t give myself permission to rest, because somehow it feels ungrateful. Why would I want a break when this is exactly what I worked so hard for? And then I can already hear my therapist’s voice in my head: “Andrea, one thing doesn’t cancel out the other. Rest is not something to feel guilty about or something you have to earn.” Well… something along those lines. She’d definitely say it much better.

So, let’s practise exactly that this year and enjoy the holidays we’ve earned, properly and wholeheartedly. Without worrying that everything might have fallen apart by the time we come back.

1. Chloé Spring 2027 campaign. It came out a few weeks ago and, even though it's for next spring, it gives me the vibes of this summer.

3. A very summery feeling. My mood for this August: beach days and simple but cool outfits.

4. Chanel Summer Resort Campaign. I've had this photo saved for this month ever since it came out. It reminds me of Lanzarote, one of my favourite places, and of 1950s summer fashion which, although impractical, was absolutely divine.

5. Merit Flush Balm Blush in Persimmon colour. A soft orange red that's perfect to wear on its own for a glossy, fresh-looking complexion. I love the texture of this cream blush for warmer weather – it blends seamlessly into the skin.

6. Lucy Williams summer look inspiration. Featuring a pouch that might look familiar... In my Notion wishlist I've got the Prada one, but I've linked this dupe further down in the summer wishlist.

7. The perfect shoes: Mules Chloé Jelly. A few weeks ago, I saw a woman wearing them in real life. Was she the coolest? YES. So now I need them even more than before, please.

8. I wish we could spend a whole month in this house, enjoying the summer, doing nothing but whatever we feel like, spending quality time with the little ones, having coffee and ice cream, reading under a parasol, and staring into the distance while lying in the pool.

9. This year, one of our trips is taking us somewhere with cool evenings, so this Monikh look is perfect for those moments.

The (W)ishlist XV.

mid summer edition.

This wishlist might be a little light on fashion, or at least on summer fashion, because August is never really the month when I feel like buying summer clothes anymore. In fact, I hardly ever buy anything fashion-related at this time of year unless an absolutely incredible piece suddenly appears, which will probably already be for autumn! That's why I'm linking one of my latest posts, where I talk about many of the pieces that are living rent-free in my head.

Even so, here's where I want to spend my money – or my time – this month:

1. As promised a little further up, here's the dupe for the Prada pouch (or is it the other way round?). It's by Laia Alen and comes in several colours too. It's absolutely adorable, and for less than a quarter of the price. Still deciding on the colour!

2. Finally watching The Drama. I've somehow managed to avoid finding out anything about the film until now. I've already bought my tickets, so I'm really hoping I actually make it to the cinema. After all these weeks, the hype is very, very real… let's see!

3. I need this Zara pyjama set for those late-summer days that blur into autumn. I'd happily keep wearing it well into the colder months, paired with a cosy oversized knit that's soft enough to live in.

   

4. One of my favourite things to do is grab a coffee to go and wander until I find a bookshop, where I can happily spend ages deciding which books deserve to come home with me (and which ones don't). So wherever we're going on holiday, that's exactly what I want to do there too. The mission is set: discover good cafés and even better bookshops.

5. Read at least three books. On the list: Good Material by Dolly Alderton, Mujeres Elegantes by Milena Busquets, and Las Gratitudes by Delphine de Vigan.

6. EXTRA: (for the third month in a row!!) be able to finish my digital wardrobe + my Vinted. Wish me luck…

I genuinely hope you have the most wonderful August, filled with everything you want from this month—slow days, lovely moments, plenty of enjoyment, and whatever makes you happiest.

If I do end up sharing a post or two over the next few weeks, I’ll see you very soon. And if not… I’ll see you in September, fully recharged and ready for the new season! I honestly can’t wait—I’m so excited for everything that’s coming. But only after a proper holiday first, please!

But these terms aren’t just there to sound clever. They make it easier for designers, buyers, stylists, editors and manufacturers from all over the world to communicate using the same language. They help define fabrics, silhouettes, production methods and trends with precision, and they’re the vocabulary you’ll hear in everything from Fashion Week to the shop floor.

As a stylist, I’ve learnt that it’s not enough to simply understand these terms—you need to know them, use them, and speak the language confidently. Whether I’m working with photographers, designers, PR teams or brands, having a shared vocabulary makes communication smoother, avoids misunderstandings, and helps everyone stay on the same page.

The truth is, the fashion industry loves its jargon. Some of it has been around for decades, some of it is marketing gold, and some of it feels like it’s appeared out of nowhere thanks to social media.

So, whether you’re a fashion enthusiast, an occasional shopper, or simply curious about what everyone seems to be talking about, here’s a guide to the words and phrases you’ll come across time and time again—and what they actually mean.

SHOOTING.

Fashion shorthand for a photoshoot.

A fashion photography session where a creative team—including the photographer, stylist, model, and hair and makeup artists—works together to create images for campaigns, editorials, lookbooks or social media.

Example | I have a shooting tomorrow with Vogue for the next cover.

SHOWROOM.

A space where brands display their latest collections for buyers, press and stylists. It's also where stylists go to pull clothes for shoots or events.

Example | Next week I've got an appointment at Prada’s showroom to see if there's anything that would work for my next shoot.

RUN OF SHOW (ROS).

The master schedule for a fashion shoot or show. It outlines the order of looks, timings, talent, locations and who's responsible for what, keeping the whole production running smoothly.

Example | I've got the ROS for next week's production, so we can steam everything in the order it's listed.

PULL.

To borrow clothing, shoes or accessories from a brand or PR agency for a photoshoot, campaign or red carpet appearance. The items are returned afterwards.

Example | I'm pulling a few dresses from Dior and Jacquemus for tomorrow's editorial.

SHOPPING.

as a stylist not in a magazine

Similar to Pull. In styling, shopping doesn't necessarily mean buying clothes for yourself. It refers to sourcing items for a client or shoot—whether that's purchasing, renting or finding pieces to complete the styling vision.

Example | I've got a shopping day tomorrow to source accessories for my client.

PULL LETTER.

An official document written by a stylist or publication requesting garments from a brand or showroom. It explains what the clothes are needed for and gives brands confidence that their pieces will receive appropriate exposure and be looked after.

Example | The PR team asked me to send over my pull letter before confirming the loan.

SAMPLE.

A garment made by a brand before it goes into production (or sometimes instead of production). Samples are used for photoshoots, fashion shows, presentations, buying appointments and fittings.

Example | Please be extra careful with that sample, it's the only one in the country.

REQUEST.

The process of asking a brand, PR or showroom to lend specific samples for a shoot or styling project. A request is usually sent after reviewing a collection or line sheet.

Example | I've just sent a request for three looks from the new collection.

SHOW NOTES.

The information distributed at a fashion show explaining the inspiration behind the collection, details about the designer, fabrics, themes and sometimes a numbered list of every look shown on the runway.

Example | The show notes explained the inspiration behind the collection and it all had even more sense.

BESPOKE.

A garment made completely from scratch for one individual. Unlike made-to-measure, a bespoke piece starts with a unique pattern and is crafted specifically for the client's measurements and preferences.

Example | Olivia Dean wore a bespoke Chanel look for her latest appearance.

Fashion can feel full of insider language, but once you get your head around the terminology, everything starts to click. From runway reviews and trend reports to product descriptions and conversations on set, you’ll understand what’s actually being said—and why it matters.

As a stylist, these are words I use almost every day. They’ve become second nature, but I remember a time when they all sounded like another language. Hopefully, this guide makes fashion feel a little less intimidating.

Writing several fashion posts every month does absolutely nothing for my bank balance. It does, however, mean I’m constantly discovering new brands, designers and pieces, which inevitably feeds back into my work. Swings and roundabouts.

Since I can’t possibly buy everything I’d love to own, I’ve developed a habit of saving it all instead—collecting fashion pieces like they’re Pokémon cards. They’re scattered everywhere: in my Notes app, somewhere among the 60+ tabs permanently open on my phone, on my wishlist, or buried in an endless stream of screenshots. So I thought it was about time I brought at least some of them together and shared the ones that have earned a place here.

A few have already found their way into my wardrobe. Some are firmly on the future investment list. Others I’m still undecided about. And a fair few will probably remain exactly where they are: in my wishlist. Although, if this newsletter takes off, the cost of living miraculously drops, clients suddenly become much more generous with their budgets, and I stop feeling guilty about spending some amounts on fashion... then who knows.

Until then, we’ll settle for the next best thing: admiring them from afar, imagining ourselves wearing them, and having a good old nose around.

Not much to say here! We’ve already talked about summer mini dresses more than once, and after trying on quite a few, this is the clear winner.

It’s from Mango’s new collection and I loved it! And, as you can see above, it looks so good paired with this oversized blazer for those cooler summer evenings.

2. Blazer.

If you follow me on Instagram, this blazer might look familiar.

I originally got it for the The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere, and I completely fell for it—the fit, the shape, everything. But, I had to let her go.

Then, the other day, I spotted it in the Mango sale for less than half the original price. I genuinely couldn’t believe it. Needless to say, I wasn’t about to leave it behind.

The truth is, I hadn’t stopped thinking about it. Every time I came across a grey blazer, I’d look for something similar, but nothing quite measured up—at least not at a reasonable price. Maybe it was just meant to find its way back to me.

Welcome back to the fun.

Every couture season comes with the same question: What does couture even mean today? Is it about preserving centuries-old craftsmanship? Is it about creating the most extravagant clothes imaginable? Or is it fashion’s playground, where designers get to experiment without worrying about what will actually sell?

This season, the answer felt like: all of the above.

What struck me most was the feeling that couture is becoming a laboratory again. Designers were testing new materials, new construction techniques and, in many ways, new definitions of luxury.

For years, technology and craftsmanship were treated as opposites. Anything involving technology felt too industrial for couture. This season completely flipped that idea. Bio-engineered silk, body scanning, silicone moulding and experimental fabrics appeared across several collections, but always in service of handcraft. Technology wasn’t replacing artisans—it was giving them new tools to create with.

I also couldn’t stop noticing how sculptural everything felt. Instead of relying on endless embroidery or decoration for decoration’s sake, many designers let shape do the talking.

And then there were the materials. Rubber, latex, silicone and technical fabrics showed up in couture—something that would’ve felt almost unthinkable ten years ago. But couture has never really been about expensive fabrics. It’s about extraordinary craftsmanship. If an atelier can spend hundreds of hours moulding, painting and constructing a garment out of silicone, why shouldn’t that count as couture?

Luxury isn’t just about the material anymore; it’s about the skill behind it.

Creatively, this season also felt like the next chapter rather than the beginning of one. After all the excitement around the new creative directors over the past year, the conversation has shifted. It’s no longer Can they make headlines? It’s Can they build a lasting identity for the house?

And some of them absolutely did.

Pierpaolo Piccioli genuinely made me fall back in love with Balenciaga and its codes. Duran Lantink’s debut at Jean Paul Gaultier was sublime—a reminder that fashion can still dream without needing to justify itself by being “wearable”. Schiaparelli gave us its breathtaking “suits of light”, only for Zendaya to step onto a red carpet wearing one a matter of hours later. Then there were the worlds Chanel and Dior invited us into.

And yet... I couldn’t shake the feeling that the week itself was a little... lukewarm.

Tell me I’m not the only one? Maybe I was slightly disconnected this season.

I also sensed a certain lack of energy in the coverage. Perhaps the timing didn’t help. Couture arrived in the middle of a European heatwave, with what felt like the entire industry counting down the days until they could disappear somewhere considerably cooler.

Usually, before writing these little round-ups, I like to consume absolutely everything I can get my hands on. I want to read, watch and listen before putting my own thoughts together. This season, surprisingly, that proved harder than usual.

Instagram ended up filling some of the gaps. Accounts like Lamanella Klarva helped unpack what each house and designer was trying to say beyond the runway, while Vogue Spain offered reflections on the week that really resonated with me.

Still, I’d rather focus on what we did get.

Because despite everything, this season reminded me why I love couture. It reminded me that couture isn’t standing still; it’s expanding and questioning what luxury actually looks like in 2026.

Most importantly, it made me feel excited again.

And honestly, that hasn’t happened in a while—not with the industry’s biggest names, anyway (with a few exceptions, obviously). But this season, two houses in particular reminded me why I fell in love with fashion in the first place.

You can probably guess which ones.

THE COLOUR CHART.

Which colours took center stage in the collection? Were there any standout shades that dominated the palette or carried special significance? YES.

THE FAVOURITE LOOKS.

These looks are my favourites, whether because I like the styling, one (or more) of the pieces, the craftsmanship, or the overall (or little something) outfit speaks to me. What do you think?

SCHIAPARELLI.

Daniel Roseberry continues to ask one of fashion's most interesting questions: what if couture could make the impossible feel real? This season, he transformed light into a material, blending Schiaparelli's surrealist heritage with sculptural craftsmanship and futuristic glamour. The result felt less like a runway show and more like a series of wearable illusions.

The fact that Law Roach, Zendaya's stylist, personally flew this dress over on a private jet (of course) is absolute cinema.

DIOR.

Jonathan Anderson’s second haute couture collection is inspired by the work of Lynda Benglis. Grounded in an exploration of materials, her sculptures often involve physical gestures such as pouring, knotting and moulding. Press release said.

And, overall, it was my favourite collection of the week. No question.

It gave me fantasy. It gave me magic. It gave me incredible craftsmanship, beautiful techniques, thoughtful design and so many little details to obsess over. Most importantly, it gave me a story. Every look was stunning on its own, but together they felt like chapters of the same beautifully told narrative. I couldn’t take my eyes off it.

CHANEL.

“I started to wonder, was Gabrielle Chanel’s life a fairy tale” Matthieu Blazy.

From Jack and the Beanstalk to Goldilocks and the Three Bears, via the rigour of cut and construction on the body, old and new ways of thinking, seeing, and making are embraced. Yet all remains firmly rooted in Chanel and the supreme skills of the Haute Couture tailleur, flou and galon [braid] ateliers, and the artisans of fabric-making, embroidery, pleating, hat-making, goldsmithing, and shoemaking. Chanel said in their notes.

BALENCIAGA.

For the 55th Couture Collection, PPP made a tribute to those who create the magic. In his collection, at the end of the show and in Balenciaga’s Instagram.

The collection revolved around a few key ideas: Cristóbal Balenciaga’s architecture, humanity over irony, the body as sculpture, the people of Balenciaga and Craft and innovation.

GIORGIO ARMANI PRIVÉ.

This was one of those collections where I saw impeccable execution but not quite enough magic. That said, these two looks are absolutely incredible, and I have a feeling we'll be seeing them on a red carpet very soon.

RAMI AL ALI.

An exploration of light as memory, craftsmanship as heritage, and couture as a timeless expression of renewal.

GEORGES HOBEIKA.

‘THE VISITOR’ is the name of Hobeika’s collection and it is a remainder to live life as if it was your first day, to see it the way a visitor would.

MANISH MALHOTRA.

An ode to his mom. As he perfectly said: “The colours of my childhood in the 70s were the colours of my mother’s saris. Long before I understood fashion, I understood love, beauty, and belonging”.

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER.

I gagged.

The soundtrack of whispered voices echoing through the show, the models’ movements, the exaggerated volumes, the craftsmanship, the endless bows… Duran Lantink built the collection around the collision of 18th-century court dress and futuristic technology. Marie Antoinette met sci-fi. Versailles met TPU. Corsets, panniers and court silhouettes were twisted into something entirely new, while Jean Paul Gaultier's irreverent spirit was present throughout

ROBERT WUN.

Robert Wun's Childsplay wasn't really about childhood—it was about remembering it. Inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's ability to wrap life's biggest questions inside fantastical worlds, Wun explored what it means to look back at childhood as an adult.

FENDI.

Fendi's press release described it: “In her first Haute Couture collection for Fendi, Maria Grazia Chiuri places desire at the very heart of her vision. This isn't simply a collection of garments, but a series of design gestures that restore the body to its rightful place: as something living, expressive and deeply human. The body becomes more than a silhouette to dress—it becomes a vessel for emotion, intention and identity”.

Although, technically, can it really be considered Haute Couture if it was presented in Rome rather than Paris?

STANDING GROUND.

A new name for me.

Standing Ground's debut wasn't driven by a seasonal theme in the way many couture collections are. Michael Stewart has been building the same universe for years, and couture simply allowed him to express it at its highest level. The core inspirations were: Ireland’s ancient standing stones, Irish craftsmanship, Ancient meets futuristic and Monumental femininity.

STREET STYLE.

Couture isn’t exactly a street style week — everyone’s usually dressed by the houses, head to toe. That said, there were still some moments worth stopping for, once again.

Right, this post is going to be a bit closer to the reality where I actually have things to do, leave the house, and function as a reasonably productive member of society. Not the reality I’d choose when temperatures are nudging — or sailing past — 40°C in the shade. Because in that version of events, I’d be lying on the floor as close to the air conditioning as humanly possible, hair clipped up in a claw clip, wearing nothing but panties and an oversized lightweight tee.

Now, if you’re one of the lucky ones living somewhere where summer means a blissful 26°C, I’ll happily let you wander off and read one of these posts instead. But if that’s not your reality, stick around. With any luck, between the two of us, we can manage to look effortlessly cool without overthinking it — or melting in the process.

Read more

The ones who throw half their wardrobe into a suitcase “just in case”. And the ones who somehow arrive with a carry-on and still manage to look impossibly chic every single day.

I like to think I’m somewhere in the middle.

That said, I don’t think there’s one perfect packing formula. It all depends on the kind of holiday you’ve booked. There are trips where a small capsule wardrobe makes perfect sense, and others where... well, it simply doesn’t.

This summer, I’m lucky enough to have a couple of trips.

First, a week in the north of Spain with the kids: slow mornings, beach days, little villages, ice creams that melt faster than they’re eaten. Then, three very welcome days away with my husband—just the two of us. We’re staying at one of those hotels you barely want to leave, venturing out only for long dinners, sunset walks along the beach and (hopefully) an afternoon spent browsing bookshops.

In other words: pure rest. And I genuinely cannot wait.

So yes, I want to feel put together. Cool, effortless and like myself. But I also want to be comfortable, practical and ready for whatever the day brings—whether that’s chasing children across the sand or lingering over a second glass of wine at dinner.

Most importantly, I don’t want to overpack. Or overthink.

Happy July!

This month arrives after an intense few weeks of birthdays (mine and my eldest’s), work, and two heatwaves.

And it comes with the hope of slower days, shaped by the calm of an emptier city and work gradually easing off until September. At least, that’s how fashion works. Things start to slow down, inboxes become quieter, and there’s finally a bit more room to breathe.

This year also marks the first time in over 3 years that I’m actually going on a proper holiday, and I genuinely can’t wait. Our first one as a family of four. Between pregnancies, postpartum, work and spending most summers travelling to see family, the years have somehow slipped by. So, while I’m under no illusion that this will look anything like the relaxing holidays I remember, I’m so excited to discover somewhere new together. Preferably somewhere cool enough to throw on a light jumper in the evening. Yes, please.

Maybe that’s why I found myself saving these images over the past few weeks.

One thing I love is my ring stack. A few pieces are family heirlooms, but if I were buying new rings today, these are the ones I’d choose.

I have to say, for all the reasons we talked about in the last article, most of this inspiration has lived purely in my head for years.

Putting this piece together has finally made me bring it down to earth. I’ve turned vague ideas into actual photos, real outfits and looks that feel tangible. And, in the process, I’ve finally done something I’ve been putting off for ages.

Because, if I’m honest...What was the point?

THE CONFESSION.

There’s a confession I’ve always felt slightly embarrassed, hesitant, even afraid to make:

I’m a stylist, and I don’t dress the way I’d like to.

For a long time, I saw this as a contradiction. Almost as proof that something wasn’t quite right. Because how can someone whose job revolves around dressing other people—in all the many forms styling can take—not feel represented by her own image?

But over the years, I’ve realised the conversation is far more nuanced than that.

Because these days, if you’re a stylist—whether you work in personal styling or fashion styling—and you want a certain level of success (by which I mean having a steady flow of clients, and ideally the kind of clients you actually want to work with), it seems that doing your job well is no longer enough.

You also have to look like success.

You have to dress impeccably. Have an aspirational wardrobe. Be halfway to being an influencer. Be slim enough for clothes to fall perfectly. Have access to the brands and pieces you use in your work. And, ultimately, turn yourself into your own marketing campaign.

Your image becomes your business card. And your work, at times, takes a back seat.

On top of that, there’s another prejudice I’ve lived with my entire life.

“You look like a child.” SO “I just can’t take you seriously.”

As though professional credibility comes with a specific dress code. As though there’s only one way to look capable.

And when, on top of that, you feel like you’re not even achieving the style you wish you had, impostor syndrome inevitably creeps in.

If I don’t dress cool enough, am I really a good stylist?

If my portfolio isn’t what I want it to be, am I missing opportunities?

If I’m not projecting a certain image, will the clients I dream of working with trust me?

For years, I thought the problem was a lack of discipline. Or consistency.

But the truth is that this whole “I don’t dress the way I’d like to” thing has many layers.

And none of them have anything to do with not understanding fashion.

Or not being good at my job.

MONEY.

Layer 1

Fashion is expensive. And working in fashion certainly doesn’t make you immune to that.

I’ve styled models, characters and clients in pieces I could never justify buying for myself.

And there’s this quiet, unspoken pressure that makes you feel that if you recommend something, you ought to be able to own it too. As though legitimacy depends on possessing the things you champion.

But having an eye for style and having an unlimited budget are two entirely different things.

And that old saying that money can’t buy style? Oh boy, is that true. But working in fashion comes with its own blessings and curses.

You learn which pieces are truly well made, which fabrics will stand the test of time, which garments will still deserve a place in your wardrobe years from now. And, more often than not, that kind of quality comes with a rather hefty price tag.

And then there’s the fact that knowing so many brands broadens your horizons, but it also means constantly falling in love with pieces that aren’t exactly within everyone’s reach.

Truthfully, I’d rather own less and buy better. I’m much more drawn to investing in quality than accumulating quantity. But the reality is that when life isn’t feeling particularly stable—or when other priorities demand your attention—that investment is often the first thing to go.

My goal? To set aside a percentage of my budget for fashion. No guilt attached.

We’ll call it guilt-free money.

BODY, LIPEDEMA & MENTAL HEALTH.

Layer 2

My body has changed. And so has my relationship with it.

Lipedema, mental health, pregnancies, hormonal changes, exhaustion… all of these things affect the way you get dressed far more than we tend to admit.

Because when you don’t feel comfortable in your own body, getting dressed stops being playful. And instead, it becomes a constant negotiation.

In my case, stepping into a fitting room with a pile of trousers or skirts is, more often than not, a losing battle.

Capri trousers? Not even in my wildest dreams. Knee-high boots? They never zip up. Fitted dresses? Forget about it.

And I have to admit that, over the years, I’ve become quite good at disguising the lack of proportion between my upper body and my lower half. But almost always at the expense of the pieces I’d actually love to wear. The obvious answer would be simple: just stop caring and wear them anyway.

Reality, however, is a lot more complicated. You won’t find many beautiful wide-calf boots. Or capri trousers that fit your body without hanging like a sack on one side and squeezing like a sausage on the other.

As much as it pains me to admit it, sizing and garment cuts are a reality. And however much I might want to, there are certain things I simply can’t bring myself to wear.

This part of the conversation is so, so layered and complex that, truthfully, I don’t quite dare go any deeper. Not yet.

My goal? To stop playing it safe and give myself permission to wear the things I truly love.

TIME.

Layer 3

Another great myth is the idea that those of us who work in fashion spend endless hours on ourselves.

The reality is far less glamorous.

More often than not, I’m far more invested in other people’s wardrobes than I am in my own. My children’s included. And by the time I get home—or I’m rushing out the door in the morning—my energy has already been spent elsewhere.

Creativity, too, has its limits.

People often assume that because you work in fashion, putting yourself together comes naturally. That somehow you wake up with endless inspiration and a perfectly curated wardrobe at your fingertips. I wish.

Finding the time to search for the perfect pieces for myself often feels like looking for a needle in a haystack. And that’s before we even talk about actually creating outfits. And by outfits, I don’t simply mean throwing together two basics and calling it a day.

I mean thinking about proportions. Playing with accessories. Adding a surprise element. Experimenting. Creating something that feels intentional. Something that feels like me.

Because getting dressed in a way that excites you takes time. And headspace. And, perhaps most importantly, creative energy.

And when your creativity is your job, sometimes there’s very little left at the end of the day for yourself.

My goal? To organise my wardrobe, digitise it, and create my own database of looks.

And perhaps, more than anything else, it has to do with something I’ve only realised relatively recently. (And I have two people in particular to thank for that, because I can be incredibly stubborn at times.)

Perhaps dressing the way I truly want to has never really been about clothes. Perhaps dressing the way I truly want to would mean embracing who I really am.

And that is far more frightening.

Because for years, I carefully built a low-profile version of myself. A version that took up very little space. That didn’t draw too much attention. That quietly blended into the background. And, deep down, I thought that was the right thing to do.

I thought my work would speak for itself. I thought that if I made myself smaller, my work would somehow become bigger. But I’m no longer so sure.

These days, I find myself living in a constant tension, and I honestly don’t know what would make me happier.

Whether it’s dressing exactly as I feel drawn to, embracing my creativity fully and finally stepping out of hiding.

Or continuing to try to become all those things that, apparently, you’re supposed to be in order for your work to stand out. In order to attract certain clients. In order to be taken seriously.

And I often wonder whether there’s a middle ground. Although, truthfully, I’m not even sure that’s what I’m looking for. Perhaps my version of balance isn’t about toning myself down. Perhaps it’s about letting go. Perhaps it’s about no longer hiding.

Perhaps it’s about allowing myself to have the wardrobe that genuinely reflects who I am, and presenting myself to the world in a way that feels comfortable and authentic, without feeling as though I owe anyone a constant performance. And perhaps this isn’t really about clothes at all anymore.

Because there is one thing I know for certain. In fact, life has made sure to teach me this lesson more than once.

I have to let myself be seen.

Not necessarily become an influencer. Not dress every day as though I’m heading to Fashion Week. Not prove anything.

But simply allow myself to be seen.

So, Gemini season is drawing to a close, and I can say that I’m rather grateful for it.

JOURNAL ENTRY XIV.

The Birthday.

Suddenly, it was my birthday (a couple of weeks ago), and my emotions were all over the place. Can anyone relate?

It was a real mix of feelings, and a birthday that caught me somewhat off guard. Perhaps I would have liked to have had many more things figured out than I did, especially after such chaotic months. But I eventually found peace in letting the answers and the clarity come when they are meant to, knowing that the hardest part had already been done, and that alone made me proud. Making decisions with complete confidence, staying true to myself and to what I need.

And, as an unexpected birthday gift, I was struck by an overwhelming certainty about what I truly want. Not from life as a whole — although that too — or from motherhood (now that’s a huge topic). But from my creativity, from recognising my worth in my work, and from understanding what I want to bring to this strange little world of fashion and styling.

It came through a couple of photographs — nothing particularly spectacular, nor with some extraordinary story behind it. Yet, for some reason, it made me feel that this was exactly what I wanted to contribute. Through my own perspective, of course, but that this was the starting point I wanted.

Projects, clients, aesthetics, styling, content, stories.

This past year has been about rebuilding the foundations beneath me, strengthening them, and appreciating that what I already have is beautiful. I don’t need different foundations; I simply need to care for the cracks and give them the attention and polish they deserve.

During my annual ritual (which I shared with you last year), I realised that I hadn’t had any huge projects or life-changing moments. At least not the kind that are visible to everyone else. And, for some reason, that made me feel sad, as though it hadn’t been a good year, or one that could be summed up by one or two defining milestones.

And yet, it may well have been one of the most important years of my life so far.

Changing habits, beliefs, even chemistry, may not sound particularly glamorous, but when all of that finally reaches the surface… get ready.

So, I can’t wait to see what the next twelve (or eleven and a half) months have in store.

Coming in strong.

1. A very relaxing, cool and carefree summer break — full of fresh air, fun, and proper time to switch off. The kind of holiday where I can fill my days with wonderfully unproductive things and endless games with my children.

   Cantabria and Copenhagen are on the cards.

2. These Massimo Dutti sandals are basically my personality in shoe form. I can already picture them with almost every summer and warm autumn look in my wardrobe.

3. A full look that's the perfect companion to the sandals above. What I love most, beyond the cut and the colour, is the versatility of a two-piece set — so many different ways to style it with the rest of your wardrobe.

4. Right, I need to get off the Massimo Dutti app ASAP.

   Aware that many of these pieces are essentially elevated high-street interpretations of far more expensive designs, I still can’t help but want (almost) everything. And it’s not even just about the clothes — everything they’re doing aesthetically speaks to me. So much so that (unofficial fifth point) I've been quietly dreaming of being part of their team for quite some time now. And with that said, here's the latest addition to my wishlist.

5. The opportunity to get through more than one book this summer and, hopefully, shrink my ever-growing TBR pile. Which would, of course, make room for these additions — both to the list and to my bookshelves:

That’s basically why I thought this recurring post could be a good idea — every couple of months, a place to collect interesting things I’ve found along the way. Not just new brands, but anything that feels worth having on your radar.

And when I say brands, I don’t just mean fashion brands. A coffee shop can feel like a brand. A hotel can too. A magazine, a restaurant, a Substack, even a very specific Instagram account. Anything with a clear point of view, a strong identity, or just a certain spirit behind it.

The idea is for this to become a bit of a directory of references for people who enjoy finding interesting things online as much as I do. Somewhere to come when you want to discover something new, find inspiration, or just spend some time falling into internet rabbit holes.

Fashion will probably sit at the centre of it all, but not in a strict way. Sometimes it might be three fashion brands I’ve recently found, a hotel and a magazine; other times it could be a few Instagram accounts, one person and one brand. You get the gist.

This is meant to be a personal collection of things that feel interesting, well made, overlooked, inspiring, strange, beautiful, or simply worth paying attention to.

Think of this as a growing collection of things to have on your radar.

So, let’s get into it.

Jewellery: LEANDRA.

They present themselves as “we conceive jewellery with profound respect for personal stories. We only use noble materials, gold and diamonds. Each piece is perfect to wear not only on special occasions, but every day. Because we deeply believe a jewel deserves to be worn, not kept inside a box”. And honestly, perfect introduction. Nothing else to add.

I discovered them a few years ago during a presentation and immediately thought: my engagement ring will come from here. I’d never really found jewellery that represented my taste so well — timeless, but with something slightly distinctive about it, without falling into what feels too basic or predictable in jewellery.

They’ve come back to the front of my mind recently (although, realistically, they never really left) because they’re doing a pop-up in Madrid this June. Definitely worth visiting, even if it’s just to see the pieces in person, which is something I always think you should do with jewellery (or special pieces).

Maybe it’s because summer always brings out a slightly more optimistic version of ourselves. We want to try new things, wear pieces that feel a little bolder, lean into trends a bit more instead of constantly reaching for our usual (and personal) basics — or at least that’s how I’ve been feeling lately.

But at the same time, I still want to feel like myself.

I don’t want to get to September and realise I spent the entire summer dressed as a completely different person. I think the key is balance: mixing timeless pieces with trend-led details, and stepping outside your comfort zone without losing your sense of style in the process.

And honestly, that’s exactly what summer 2026 fashion feels like right now.

Classic silhouettes are still very much there, but they’re being styled in softer, more playful ways. Pieces that make an outfit feel current without trying too hard.

These are the seven pieces I know I’ll be wearing on repeat this summer.

Life’s been lifing, and I haven’t really had a moment to catch up with it until now. And honestly, not even now properly counts, seeing as I’m writing this in the final few minutes before my kids wake up from their nap.

April was… a lot.

A mix of wake-up calls, things finally falling into place, and a complete whirlwind of days somehow shifting everything exactly where it needed to be. And suddenly, it’s mid-May already.

(Told you — they’re up.)

He is back and he is something else.

JOURNAL ENTRY XIII.

May is, without a doubt, one of my favourite months.

From the age of 3 to 18, I went to a catholic school, which is probably why, for me, May has always been the month of flowers. Ever since then, it’s been one of my favourites. Back then, it meant losing a bit of class time so we could all be together at the patio, reading and offering flowers. Flowers we’d practically fight over getting to buy and hand over. And that’s despite the fact that I wasn’t religious then, and I’m not now either. But I think there was something about all of us being there — with that gorgeous spring light pouring in — doing something different, surrounded by flowers and music, that made me happy. Now, it means remembering that feeling, and it brings me peace and happiness. And both then and now, it also means my birthday is getting closer.

May it’s the month of my birthday, without technically being it. But when you’re born on the 1st of June, the whole “birthday month” thing is a bit meh, because really, once the first day’s gone, the excitement’s already over. So the build-up to mine starts now.

As a child and teenager, I’d spend the whole month planning the celebration, telling everyone about it, and also constantly reminding everyone that the 1st of June was my birthday. For some reason, I was terrified nobody would remember that the 1st of June is my birthday. We repeat: what day? The 1st of June. And now? Now I only need to remember it myself.

Over time, I lost the excitement of celebrating, of birthdays, of getting older. Until I turned 32. That year, I felt like my mind, my life and my age finally matched up somehow, and I think that helped me make peace with getting older.

What did change, though, is that I started celebrating for myself, not for everyone else. Which means doing a whole little ritual beforehand — something we’ve already talked about in previous years — and then spending the actual day (and sometimes the days around it too, because adult life) doing things that make me feel important, special, happy.

So the mood this month is a bit of a mix of what May looks like through my eyes, what I want to attract, and how I want to dress to move through these tremendous 31 days.

Let’s dive into the main elements of the mood board:

1. The Light.

   The perfect light is here.

2. The Flowers.

   Flowers in every form — colourful, unusual, loose stems or full bouquets, in the countryside or at home.

3. The Mood:

   Happier, goofier — enjoying, loving everything I do and everything I have.

4. The look(s).

   These are the formulas I’m living in this month: classic, effortless chic with one standout piece.

5. The Fashion.

   Not in terms of personal style, but fashion as in work. I loved this image with the black dress — I want to recreate something with that kind of vibe.

6. The Astrology.

   A lot of planets moving back into the same positions they were in when I was born. A lot of transitions happening. Gemini season is upon us!

7. The three essentials.

   Cheesecake, the photo frame filled with family pictures, and the brooch from Mercería Cándida.

Today, instead of getting into the specific moodboards, we’re doing the long-awaited wishlist again. FINALLY, you lot!

The (W)ishlist XIII.

1. Bringing a special project of mine back to life. I’ve been craving it — my own vision, the creativity, the feeling of contributing with something else.

2. The perfect white summer dress. It’s from Mango, and I can already picture myself wearing it on a date night, exploring any city, heading to a beach bar, or going out for breakfast on any summer morning.

3. The Rhode Spotwear stickers. I’m not the biggest fan of hers, but I am a complete sucker for a good — and cute — beauty product. So naturally, I want to see whether the hype is actually worth it.

4. The Sportmax Gabardine blazer in vanilla. Fell in love with it at a client fitting, and it’s (almost) perfect. I felt like the most empowered version of myself the moment I put it on. The “almost”? Because maybe — just maybe — in grey, it would be absolutely everything it’s missing.

5. One of these three pairs of sunglasses from Vazquier. I was lucky enough to know about the project back when it was just an idea on paper, and seeing it become a reality is exciting.

6. A pair of black bermuda shorts. Still deciding which one, but I’m torn between this one, this one, or this one.

7. My annual Solar Revolution ✨.

And as you can imagine, this month I want to continue with the same mood as the months before:

Something about enjoying — yourself, your work, your life, your day-to-day; your skin, dancing, painting, getting dressed, getting undressed, running, slowing down.

There’s a point, after years of working in fashion, where your relationship with shopping changes quite drastically.

Not in a dramatic, capsule-wardrobe, throw-everything-out sort of way — but in quieter, more decisive shifts. You stop being seduced by things that once felt essential. You become far less tolerant of pieces that almost work. And you start to recognise the difference between what looks good in theory and what actually earns its place in your wardrobe.

For me, that shift didn’t come from having access to more clothes, but from seeing — over and over again — what people don’t wear. The impulse buys, the “just in case” pieces, the trends that never quite settle into real life. It all starts to look the same after a while.

So this isn’t a list of things you shouldn’t buy. It’s simply what I’ve stopped buying, after years of editing wardrobes (including my own) and spending a great deal of time around clothing — pieces, fabrics, brands, and all the small details that most people don’t usually stop to consider.

Because more often than not, the real upgrade isn’t in what you add — it’s in what you decide to leave behind.

Before getting into my own list, I wanted to give a quick nod to Ana Symiriotis, whose take on this kind of post inspired me to write my own.

I’m not sure if she was the first to do it, but hers is the version that stuck with me. This is very much my own take on the idea, just shaped by my perspective and experience.

Felt only fair to mention it.

And now, let’s dive in!

Trend-Led Pieces that I don’t love.

Most of the time, when I used to buy trend-led pieces, it was less about the clothes themselves and more about what they represented.. A way of feeling like I fit in. Of signalling at work events that I was “on it”, up to date, polished, professional.

But what you eventually realise is that it often works the other way round. Trying too hard to look like that can actually get in the way of you naturally feeling — and being perceived — that way.

That said, not all trends are the enemy, but buying into them impulsively usually is, or at least when it’s for the wrong reasons.

Now, when I do add something trend-led, I’m much more considered. I ask myself if it genuinely fits the person I want to be in it, whether it works with what I already own, and if I can see myself styling it long-term.

Clothes for My Fantasy Live.

“Just in case” is usually code for “probably not”.

I’d love to go to gala events, to have the kind of moments where I can actually wear those pieces. The dinners I’m not quite going to. The beautiful bag that doesn’t fit toys, notebooks, a water bottle…

And there’s nothing inherently wrong with that — it can be fun, even a bit inspiring. But the issue starts when those pieces stop having anywhere to go. When they become reminders of a life I’m not actually living, rather than tools for the one I am.

Now I try to catch myself earlier. If I’m drawn to something, I ask whether it fits into my real life — not the edited, imagined version of it. Because the truth is, I don’t need clothes for a fantasy life anymore. I need clothes for the one I actually have.

And if that life does show up one day, she’s very welcome.

Poor-Quality (and “Almost Right”) Basics.

T-shirts that twist after one wash, knits that start pilling almost immediately, trousers that lose their shape by midday — they’re not bargains, they’re false economies.

Basics are what you reach for the most. They’re the backbone of your wardrobe, which means they should be doing the heavy lifting, not quietly letting you down.

But it’s not just about quality, it’s also about that “almost right” feeling.

The knit that’s nearly perfect, but slightly off in the fit. The jacket that’s almost the right length, but not quite. The trousers that work… just not as well as you’d hoped. Those pieces tend to linger in your wardrobe, never quite becoming favourites, but never fully leaving either.

I’ve become much stricter with this. If it’s not a full yes — if I don’t properly feel it when I try it on — then it’s a no. Because “almost right” rarely turns into something you actually love wearing.

Duplicates That Don’t Deliver & Too Many Basics.

Not just buying the same piece in multiple colours (although that too), but ending up with a wardrobe full of near-identical versions of the same thing. Ten black tops that are all slightly different. Four white T-shirts that almost do the same job. Too many pairs of bermudas that all blur into one.

And it tends to happen with basics more than anything else. You find the one — the T-shirt, the tank, the trousers that really work for you — and instead of just enjoying it, you think you need five versions of it. As if multiplying it will somehow make the wardrobe more complete.

But what usually happens is the opposite. You end up with repetition, not versatility. A drawer full of “basically the same” doesn’t actually give you more options — it just gives you more noise.

The goal isn’t to own more of the same good thing, it’s to actually wear what you have.

Don’t-Walk Shoes.

This one is simple: if they can’t survive a whole day with me (school runs included), I don’t buy them.

No matter how beautiful they are.

Because the reality is, if they hurt, I won’t wear them. And unworn shoes are just expensive (albeit freaking beautiful) decor.

Yes, sometimes you do need that pair of less comfortable, more occasion shoes for certain moments. But again, maybe one good pair is enough. And it’s worth checking whether they actually fit your reality life.

Fabrics that Don’t Work on me.

And…fabric over label.

More than once I’ve ordered a piece that looked perfect online — slightly more expensive, supposedly an investment — only to receive it and think… oops, not quite what I was expecting. Or I’ve gone into a shop intending to invest in something specific, only to see it in person and realise it just doesn’t justify the price at all.

Nine times out of ten, that feeling comes down to the fabric and the structure — the cut, the weight, the way it behaves when you actually wear it.

I’ve slowly stopped buying materials that don’t feel right on my body — anything that’s uncomfortable, scratchy, irritating, or that I know I’ll spend the day adjusting. Things that don’t sit well on my frame or just don’t move with me properly.

Because no matter how good something looks in theory, if it doesn’t feel good in reality, I simply won’t reach for it.

Things that Don’t Fit in my Formulas.

By formulas, as you probably already know, I mean the way I naturally put outfits together, the combinations I reach for without thinking. The pieces that consistently feel like me. And over time, I’ve realised that not everything deserves a place in that system.

Some things are lovely in isolation, but if they don’t naturally slot into how I actually get dressed, they end up sitting there doing very little.

I’ve also become much more aware of impulsive buys — the ones influenced by a friend saying it looks amazing on you, or a sales assistant being particularly persuasive, or that moment of pressure in the changing room. All of that can blur your instinct.

But I’ve learned this: if my immediate reaction is a no, even a small one, it’s a no.

Stopping buying certain things didn’t make my wardrobe smaller — it made it sharper.

Everything I own now has a role. Getting dressed is easier and feel more exciting. And perhaps most importantly, I no longer feel that constant pull to keep adding more. Only if that piece calls out to me

Because the truth is, most of us don’t need more clothes.
We just need better decisions (myself included).

If you’ve been here for a while, you already know I’m a huge fan of brooches. I’d wear them with everything, all the time. Why don’t I? Because sometimes I’m a slightly boring person who worries someone might judge me. And because I have two little babies who love grabbing anything that shines.

So you can imagine how ridiculously happy I am that they’re back—and that I no longer feel like I look like someone’s grandmother, but instead like a cool, trendy person. And if you asked me, yes—if I were an accessory, I would be a brooch: sometimes invisible but important, sometimes loud and a bit funny.

Why have I always loved them so much? Well, I’ve always seen my grandma wearing them with her scarves, and they’ve always felt like a fascinating accessory to me—almost as if they were speaking in a way I can’t quite explain. They make me happy. When I see someone wearing a brooch, I immediately think they’re cool (note: I am not one of them yet, I’m working on it—I don’t wear them often enough to be officially in the club). For me, a brooch signals creativity, personality, and just enough playful irreverence to keep things interesting. They’re such a small detail, sometimes now unnecessary in a purely functional sense, yet somehow they also feel tender to me. So I feel a certain relief that they’re being given a bit of love again this season (and for the past couple, really). She’s delulu.

These days, they add that extra touch to our looks—meaning we’ve actually put a bit of thought into our outfit, we’ve cared, and we want it to stand out. And luckily, we can do this in a thousand ways: loud, big and colourful; small and vintage; minimal and understated… and it’s no longer just about the brooch itself, but also where and how you pin it.

The trend started on the streets, with the cool girls, and thanks to them we’ve got endless inspo to look at and copy. But without a doubt, designers in recent runway shows have elevated them to that “cool piece you absolutely need in your wardrobe” status.

But before we get into the big things, let’s take a brief look at their history.

A little history.

Brooches are one of the oldest forms of jewellery. Long before they were decorative, they were actually practical—used to fasten cloaks and garments in ancient civilisations. But, over time, they became something more: little symbols of status, love, grief, identity… all pinned in place.

By the Victorian era, they’d turned deeply sentimental. Lockets, cameos, mourning pins—pieces that carried hair, tiny portraits, or subtle references to loss. Jewellery wasn’t just decoration back then, it was a way of saying something without actually saying it. Then in the early 20th century, movements like Art Nouveau and Art Deco gave brooches a new life, turning them into miniature works of art—intricate, modern, and beautifully crafted.

And then… they sort of disappeared.

As fashion became more casual and streamlined around the mid-century, brooches lost their place in everyday dressing. They stuck around for formal occasions, or lived quietly in vintage boxes, but for the most part, they faded into the background.

Until recently (happy tears).

Because their return now isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about styling.

Fashion right now is all about personalisation, about making even the simplest outfit feel like yours. And brooches are perfect for that. They’re small, easy, collectible, but they can completely change the feel of something. One pin, and suddenly it’s a different outfit.

And the way we’re wearing them now is a bit rebellious too. Not neat or centred, but off to the side, layered, clustered, mixed with things that don’t really “match”. It’s less about doing it properly, and more about doing it your way.

The brooch has become less about tradition and more about attitude.

THE (APRIL) MOOD BOARD.

Happy April!

So, a lot can happen in a month.

This month feels like it’s arriving as a bit of a revolution — almost a whirlwind you have to step into so you don’t get swept away. In some way I can only explain through astrology, it feels like a new cycle is beginning, one full of movement. Gemini crew, you tell me.

And I was warned, but I’ll admit I didn’t quite believe it — and sure enough, I fell at the first hurdle, completely exhausted. And that’s why the Madrid Fashion Week Report didn’t make it out (are you still keen on it? Honestly, the content is some of my best), nor several others I had planned. In that time, I realised I was overwhelmed by content from every direction. Not just from FWs, but content on social media, content on Substack — content, content, content. And it made me question what I’m even doing in this sea of newsletters, reels and photos. Do I have a voice that matters? Why do I invest all the time it takes to build each NL? Is it worth it if most are only read by four people? (Literally four — my four loyal paid subscribers, whom I adore.) Should I start making more “commercial”, faster content? Should I stop altogether?

The answer to that last question is easy enough to guess, seeing as I’m here, writing. As for the others?

Yes, I do have a voice that matters. I don’t know if it matters to anyone else, but it matters to me. It’s my perspective, my way of seeing fashion, styling — and perhaps someone out there sees it the same way, and with a bit of luck, we find each other and keep each other company. My mission now is to let myself be, to stop judging myself so harshly.

Why do I spend hours — even days — on it? Because I LOVE it. Because I need to write and create things I enjoy, things that motivate me, that I have fun with. And I like doing them properly, with care, with every single detail I carry in my head. I just need to start batching content for those NLs that can be written ahead of time. Life is better lived without stress.

Is it worth it? Very much so. Even if the radio silence gets to me sometimes.

Other content? Yes. But also no. Something better — more consistent, with clearer communication around it. This part matters: I need to stop hiding my content. And well, if you fancy the occasional quicker NL with more “commercial” content, just say the word.

Here is the last one of the big four…PART I.

Better late than never, and this time, even more so. Without a doubt one of my favourites, with so much content to watch, dissect, study and talk about. For that reason (a few bugs, mum duty, and a March that’s arrived full of opportunities), this Paris recap is slightly delayed—remember I’ve split it into two so it’s not overwhelming. And with the Oscars on Sunday, it’s been non-stop… what a month!

That said, let’s dive straight into everything that happened in Paris last week, because there was a lot.

Honestly, I barely blinked the whole week—Paris FW26 was way too good for that. It really said: go big or go home—and somehow did both. Heritage houses did what they do best, while designers pushed just far enough to keep everyone watching.

The week had this tension between polish and personality. Tailoring was sharp but never stiff, softened with fluid fabrics or unexpected styling. And the statement pieces? Everywhere: over-the-knee boots, rich royal purple, and textures that made you look twice. It felt like a season all about confidence—not loud for the sake of it, but intentional, expressive, and very aware of the power of a (really) good look.

Not everyone played by the usual Paris rules. Valentino skipped the official schedule and showed in Rome a few days later. Coperni and Sacai stepped back entirely, opting for lookbooks instead, and Thom Browne did his own thing outside Paris. Still, the week felt anchored by the big players—Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton—reminding us why Paris still matters, even as some brands rewrite the rules.

This FW26 season in Milan completely won me over, easily one of my favourite Milan Fashion Weeks in recent seasons. I kept spotting styling details that genuinely made me giddy: the kind you immediately want to try in your own outfits, but also the kind that spark ideas for dream editorials. There were special pieces to quietly add to the (very imaginary) wishlist, bags to fall in love with, and an overall vibe that I honestly wouldn’t mind wearing every single day of the year. In many ways, it felt like a perfect snapshot of my many dressing personalities all at once: chef’s kiss.

Watching each show and seeing every proposal unfold was genuinely exciting. My absolute favourites? Sportmax, Jil Sander, Alberta Ferretti, and the brilliant Louise Trotter at Bottega.

There was also a broader sense across Milan of designers refining rather than reinventing — focusing on great coats, strong knitwear, beautiful leather, and styling details that subtly transform a look. It felt considered, grown-up, and very wardrobe-driven in the best possible way.

That’s also why it ended up being surprisingly tricky to summarise everything in a single post without it becoming impossible to read, packed with hundreds of photos, or simply overwhelming. Hopefully I’ve managed to strike the right balance — and that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed putting it together. ✨

ALBERTA FERRETTI.

Classic Ferretti energy, but dialled up a notch. The colours and textures felt warm and inviting, and the whole collection came across as quietly beautiful.

EMPORIO ARMANI.

Elegance, as always, made wearable and for special events. Sometimes it can feel a bit boring or dated for me — but not this time.

ETRO.

How to wear everything at once and still look chic. The coloured feather details were my absolute favourite, along with the colour combinations.

FERRARI.

The draping and those specific tones were my absolute favourite.

JIL SANDER.

I NEED EVERYTHING. Perfect staples to build on with bold accessories. Minimalist basics done so well.

MAX MARA.

I wish I could actually pull off those boots. What I can do — and definitely will — is add belts like this. Such a cute little detail for basic outfits.

MISSONI.

I’m here for those coats, scarves and hair.

MOSCHINO.

A bit of a surprise for me — it was… quieter? Still, it definitely felt Moschino at heart. Adrian Appiolaza played with his Argentine roots, and you can totally see it. I loved it!

Nº21.

Felt like a peek into someone’s wardrobe for every occasion. Normal but cute.

SPORTMAX.

The mood was clean and powerful, with precise tailoring and clever layering that made even the simplest pieces feel directional. Those structures!

VIVETTA.

This show honestly made me so happy. Loved the surreal face‑profile jacket, the sculptural rosettes, and that bold red print.

PRADA.

I have to confess, this was one of my least favourite shows of the season — and even for Prada itself. I found it… strangely uncomfortable? But that was exactly the point: they twisted its original ethos with a hefty dose of awkward-but-brilliant layering, unusual proportions, and constant juxtapositions.

BOTTEGA VENETA.

I love it so much that I don’t even know where to start. The headpieces, the shapes and proportions, the fabrics, the little (and big) styling choices, the mood… wow, I need it all.

SEVEN TRENDS.

Back to the structure of the pieces, the foundation.

HIGH NECKS.

High, bold necklines are having a bit of a moment right now — they add just the right amount of drama.

POPS OF FUR (AGAIN).

Another (and another and another) confirmation for what we already knew was coming.

LAY OVER ALL (AGAIN).

Layers in a more intentional, styled way — with a clear sense of purpose. Even at Prada, even if it might not seem like it at first, have a look at the thinking behind it.

BOLDEST SHOULDERS.

Big shoulders and fine bottoms.

RED.

As we already knew.

STREET STYLE.

We are talking! It’s true that most of them are full looks from the designer in question for each show, but I still love seeing what each person has chosen and how they style it in their own way. My favourite part, though, is the editors, stylists and so on — that’s where the real details to pay attention to are.
