I talk about the different ways you can currently experience this work, including a written intuitive letter, a single coaching session, a two-session offering and my monthly circle, beginning Monday 5th October.

I then use The Connection Compass alongside my autumn tarot cards for an intuitive reading for September. Nourishment is a strong theme: nourishing ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally; noticing how we speak to ourselves; and becoming aware of the situations we continue to put ourselves through that perhaps are no longer good for us. There is also an invitation to nurture our relationship with the soul , the part of us that quietly knows there is more.

We explore grounding and bringing the head, heart and hara into greater balance, remembering that this is a practice requiring patience and self-compassion. Sometimes nourishing ourselves is what prepares us for forward movement; at other times, something first needs to be released.

With autumn approaching, I reflect on the Metal element in Taoist philosophy and the themes of letting go, grief and revelation that accompany the season. Just as autumn leaves reveal colours that were present beneath the green all along, perhaps something within us is also waiting to be revealed.

I also look at September’s moon cycles and the opportunity to consider what we want to begin, complete or put into motion before winter invites us to slow down and rest, review and renew

Ultimately, this episode is an invitation to explore. As we deepen the relationship we have with ourselves, our relationship with others and with the world around us can begin to change too , contributing, in our own small way, to a more connected and interconnected world.

The episode closes with a short grounding meditation, bringing awareness back to the head, heart and hara

Like last week, I had the urge to speak in my post, this week I felt the need to write something.

On Tuesday we enter the meteorological Autumn. Are you ready? I am ready for the new season, a change of energy, maybe even a change in pace if I am lucky. I am ready for the darker nights drawing in, the cosy season and the Winter preparation. Summer has been a wild ride, but it is the season of Autumn that I began to feel a few weeks ago. I could feel her coolness on my face in the early morning, a sign that Autumn is coming. A follower of Taoism, I like to embed the seasonal philosophy in my work. Nature, a key relationship in the work of The Connection Compass, the last 18 days of Summer are said to be the Late Summer, the element Earth. This is seen as a time of reflection, transition, a moment to reflect on where we have been, where we are now and our plans for the future, the abundance we held over the Summer and perhaps a chance to find our footing if we have lost our balance over the summer, re-stabilise and ground before we enter the later part of the year.

Not everyone will be feeling this yet, some of you will feel the late summer more towards the equinox. What I have discovered, is that we all feel seasons differently, some years we ride the meteorological seasons and others the astronomical seasons. For me, the Autumn is always felt early, sometimes she stays later than usual but she is the season I feel early and ready for at the beginning of September.

Despite the ten years preparation, it certainly feels like I am starting from the beginning once again, although this time, with a modality and a movement I can work with, it feels good, but scary, and I am enjoying it. Hello and Welcome to The Work of the Inner Radical. This post contains Reflective Monday.

This weeks post is landing a little later than usual. The Summer has been busy and I am looking forwards to the gentler energy of the Seasons ahead. In the long Summer days we tend to fit a lot into our days its so easy to feel a sense of fatigue. The past few weeks have been crazy but good as I begin to move outwards into the world with the work of the connection compass. Creating the structure of the compass myself in Adobe Illustrator has provided the opportunity to think about the work from a different angle. I am incredibly proud of the work.

As I begin to move out into the world with the work there has been mixed emotions. Of course, I am excited, I cannot wait to see where this work takes me, but I have to be honest, there is a low level anxiety, a feeling of overwhelming. A sway to “this is too much”, to “I have got this.” It has just been a long time coming. The creation of the compass taught me to trust, to trust in the unknown, to trust in all that is not logical and above all to trust in me, trust my intuition, my ideas, creations and ability to work through large amounts of information, make sense through patterns and symbols, nature and Earth.

I hope one day my journey inspires somebody else, maybe somebody who like me had a moment, that could have been so easily missed. Maybe my story will help someone who is ready to give up part way through a lengthy project that is taking too much time, money and energy. I can’t wait to share my journey with you through The Story of The Connection Compass, a 10 year journey of discovery, how it began, how I continued to keep going and how the compass evolved over a decade. Reflective Monday

This morning I noticed a tiny sign that the seasons will turn soon. The garden still in full bloom it is hard to believe that is true, but I felt it, a coolness on my cheek in the garden at sunrise. I feel it every time, this time of year. Its funny but Autumn is the season I feel the most coming in to turn. I love Autumn and after the high energy of Summer I am ready for the gentler seasons. With plenty of Summer left though, I wonder what your plans are for the next few weeks, what will you be doing for the Summers end, what are you excited for?

Last week I spent a few days away catching up with friends in Birmingham. I felt a little worried about being away from home, worried about the cost, yet there was no denying that I needed that trip. With bringing The Connection Compass Framework into the outside world I have felt some big emotions recently, I needed to have some space, to talk to people that understood whilst fitting in good food, chat and laughter and a drink or too. The problem was that I hadn’t spoken to my friends about the final version of The Connection Compass Framework. They knew I was working on something but I hadn’t had chance to tell them about the final formation, how it had all come together in the past few weeks. In fact I couldn’t find the words until the moment I just blurted it out. Thankfully it wasn’t awkward and clunky it was straight to the point and of course, my friends were fully accepting and excited about the work.

I am not sure why I worried about it so much, but then when I really started to reflect on my anxiety, I realised that there have been more than there should be occurrences of people walking away from me just for being myself. I hadn’t realised how much it had affected. It fact it I realise how much I have held myself back, not asked for help when I needed it for fear of what people would think of me. The recent weeks have certainly been a journey of unlearning.

The Power we Hold Inside

I was reading a post on Substack earlier in the week about how we should embrace the skills, talent and uniqueness, that we hold and make them front focus. The things that we hide are usually are most powerful asset. Something I very much keep to myself are my Spiritual gifts. I am normally very protective of my gifts, to me they are private and sacred, yet it is true, that to bring the work of The Connection Compass into the outside world I have had to use my spiritual gifts to the maximum, it was always the piece that was missing. Denying that my spiritual gifts had a part to play in the building of the Compass would be wrong. So from this day forwards I am going to be honest and more open about my gifts.

Whilst I was away, I provided Tarot readings for my friends, something we all enjoyed. I loved being open about that part of me and I intend it to be at the forefront of my work going forwards. I am already in the process of creating a bonus episode for the podcast with a Tarot reading for August and a meditation. I am also creating 3 offers to open out to those who are interested in Intuitive Guidance Experiences. It all feels good, new, and exciting.

I wasn’t going to write today as I am still finding my rhythm in this new space, I wanted to at least try. Having written for so long in A Seasonally Guided Life, I feel a little out of my depth writing from a new angle. Living Seasonally Guided, is a fundamental element of The Connection Compass, it isn’t that I have left it behind, it is just time to write from a different angle, especially as the work of The Human Led Impact Project and The Connection Compass is becoming more visible in the world.

Creating the Compass

I am not sure at what point in the 10 year journey I realised that this work was big. It felt scary that I held this enormity in my hands and sometimes it felt too big for me to carry. I struggled to explain the work, which felt embarrassing and led me to believe that I wasn’t carrying anything at all. Whenever I would speak about the compass, the body of work around connection, I would feel clumsy and awkward It all sounded so vague and I would feel myself shrinking.

In this weeks podcast From Burnout to Sovereignty: Trusting the Journey Back to Yourself with Jackie Cowie, we discuss the importance of stillness when creating our life work. The importance of sitting so still you can move past the voices of everyone else and find your own voice. It is in the stillness that you hear your authentic voice and understand yourself in a way that brings a different perspective on what you are creating, that in turn provides the courage and motivation that lead to new ways of approaching your work. It’s in the stillness that the missing pieces arrive, that we find time to heal the deep seated emotions that prevent us from making progress. It is certainly true for me that over the other side of big emotion that I held, was a new version of the compass.

As the compass came into a form that I could fully understand and explain, I was lucky enough to be in a safe place to present the work in its entirety to a small group of people for. Leading up to that moment was incredibly emotive but also liberating, I was no longer carrying this alone and finally receiving the confirmation that I was, and had been creating something different and unique. The feedback I received was just what I needed with one listener telling me, “It is an incredible story and a mind blowing piece of work-can’t wait to see how this unfolds and starts to help people.” Confirmation that I had craved for so long that this body of work, that had led me on a ten year journey was something tangible, something that would support people who had that gentle inner knowing that there is more, more to learn, more to understand about our life here on Earth.

Over the past few weeks, I have had a couple of opportunities to take some time to do nothing but wind down and have some time for me, and its been a struggle to wind myself back up again. I don’t think I have realised how busy I have been and how much I have needed that rest. The busyness of life can creep up on us so easily and so it pays to take notice and listen to what we need.

The Past 10 Years

If you have read my posts before, either here or at A Seasonally Guided Life, you will know that for the past ten years I have grown a body of work on connection, advocating for a human first approach in all that we do. For a long time I have been sat in the unknown, wondering if what I was creating was actually anything at all. Recent times have brought much needed movement, new insights with the dots finally aligning and I am able to see the whole scope of the work and I can finally explain it to others, so much so that for the first time in ten years I was able to present the whole of the work to others. To be able to do this after such a long time feels incredible and I am sure I will be able to share something soon where we can get together and I can present to you too.

What led to everything coming together was me to actually acknowledge and say it out loud that carrying this work was heavy. I knew it was meant to be something but I didn’t truly know what. I could see it, I could feel and hear it, but trying to present it in a way I could explain it was difficult. I acknowledged that I was full of anger, angry at how long it had taken, the time, energy and the finances invested. It was as if off loading what I had been carrying on my own opened a finger of light, a doorway that I couldn’t see that my anger and the weight of the door was preventing me from seeing. This wasn’t the first time that this had happened, it had happened once before.

The Resilience Within

I always thought I was a resilient person, but the past 10 years has required something different, a deeper dive into myself, a long period within the unknown not knowing what I was doing was right or wrong, it required me to sit with long periods of nothing, not knowing when that nothing was going to end, and a quest for undisputable trust and faith in myself. Being able to present the work has been one of the biggest milestones I have ever experienced in this work. For the first time this weekend I have felt a little lost, with nothing to work out, I have the work in its entirety in my sight. Sure there are a few loose ends but I have something tangible and finished. It all makes sense now. To be here I I have had to learn through a different kind of resilience that I hadn’t expected, and one that comes from deep within the soul.

Hello and Welcome to my new writing section The Work of the Inner Radical.

This post contains Reflective Monday.

If someone had told me in 2017 that the idea that I had in a workshop that we were not holding space for human need would lead to a 10 year journey of contraction and expansion, I would never have believed a word they had said. My response for that idea at the time was to start building an outstanding culture of care, as I believed it was the answer, but as I look back I realised that it was never going to be the foundation, just a small piece of the jigsaw that had been waved under my nose. What happened next was nothing that I could have imagined, but it left me restless, I felt I had lost my place in the world, I couldn’t settle in a job, nothing felt right or would slot into place. I had been here before, but this time was different, I was more or less ten years older. Surely this isn’t right I would say to myself whilst constantly berating myself in my mind and under my breath. What I didn’t know then was that this was part of a journey I would take for the next ten years, a restlessness that I couldn’t curtail, a yearning to know more and to explore the layers of my own human self far deeper than I imagined was possible.

Pivotal Moments

There have been low points along the way but two particular dark moments was that of Christmas 2020, lay in bed, alone with Covid-19 coursing through my body, wondering how I had got there and Autumn 2025, a moment where I had to sit down, have a talk to myself and be honest about whatever I had planned to do, what action I had taken or planned to take was not working and despite the money I had spent nothing would shift. These two moments were quite pivotal, the former provided a forced down time that enabled me to realise that I wasn’t making any attempt at doing what I wanted to do, create what I had always wanted to create, I was not living life in a way I had intended and this wasn’t the first time experiencing this. The second made me realise how I was going about things was wrong, and that it was time for a re-think. What both of these events had in common was that each one plunged me into the unknown and forced me to let go of what I thought life should be like and open up to different possibilities, a different order of events. The problem, we, as humans don’t like the unknown, we like order, we like to know what is coming, that is why we control. The unknown makes us squirm, it makes us run away and equally cling on to what we know is not good for us, until there is no other option but to release the little finger clinging to the edge whilst still hoping for the old and the comfortable to remain.

Experiencing the Deep Unknown

After my almighty fall into the unknown, I found a soft landing, by this point even I was yearning a releasing of the old, and perhaps a pressing of the reset button. There really wasn’t much to do here but rest, establish myself in a new role, exercise. I felt tired and shamed for my fall, I couldn’t explain in to people, because I couldn’t explain it to myself, what had just happened, where I had just been, the hopes and ideas I had for the work I was creating was shattered. In the early days of the unknown, I was prepared to let everything go, to admit I had got this all wrong. My attention started to turn away from the work and focus more on me. I turned away from networking, gatherings but kept the podcast going because it was the one good thing out of all of the work that brought me joy. What I learned about this time, was that I had kept losing sight of me, even though I had given myself space and time, I wasn’t really focusing on my own needs, what I wanted in my life and the more I started to focus on that, little shifts started to occur with the connection work once again, a relief that perhaps all was not lost after all.

The more I surrendered, the more I let go of control new layers and perceptions of the connection work revealed themselves. The unknown still uncomfortable, but I was learning that this was my new way to be, a new way of living. I am still here, in the unknown, its still not comfortable but I have more clarity here, more confidence than I ever have had with this work with trust and faith in myself becoming my foundation. There are times when I feel overwhelmed with the enormity of what I have created. I understand now why it has taken ten years to build. I had to understand how to live and breath, to understand the intricacies and the layers so I can teach it to others. The work of connection came to me as a framework but really its a way of life, a philosophy, a pathway of interconnection. Along the way it has taught me many things about myself, about life, the world, I feel grateful and humbled for all it has brought, with a chance to find opportunity and comfort in the unknown.

Hello and welcome to my new place to write The Work of the Inner Radical.

I am writing this post on Sunday 21st June, the day before you receive it, not only is it the Summer Solstice but it is also the International Day of Yoga. Perhaps both lend to a moment to pause and reflect. It was also my birthday on Friday and I have spent some time for myself, thinking about what has been the past 6-12 months. As we move through the year, what we are working towards seems to move at a slow pace, the results that we want to see are not always visible, especially as us humans move through life at the speed of light. I tend to do big reflections at the 6 month points in the year, ,mostly at the Summer and Winter Solstice, with smaller reflections at the Spring and Autumn Equinox. It’s not so much the big changes that I see, but the changes in perceptions, how I have moved on from things that were not working and already working on the new. It is worth taking time to see how far you have come along through the year, I certainly enjoy doing it.

The Feeling of Gratitude

There has been so much to be grateful for this year, the growth of the podcast, the guests, the opportunities, being around my friends and family, my health and work. I have found myself worrying about ageing recently, it is something I have rarely worried about before, just a few niggles here and there and, I have to remind myself that the whole of life is an unknown journey, we never truly know what will come our way and so it is best to take each day as it comes, and I will always be grateful for that as an option to live by. All we truly have is now.

The work of The Connection Compass Framework and The Human Led Impact Project is an absolute blessing, sure it has caused some confusion along the way but it also excites and motivates me. Each step of the work inspires and humbles me at the same time, it is a joy to start to see this work move out into the world in its complete state. The actual framework itself is something I have lived through, I have had to re-connect to myself and deepen my own connection to myself, rethink and rework it over the years, and to think it all started with one fragment of a moment, one in which I could see that we were not holding the space for humans in the work place. I always say that I recognise this moment as the starting point, but the truth is that there were lots of points that fed into this work too, especially my own disconnection.

The Empowered Connection to Yourself

I was about 28 at the time, from the outside in life looked good, but I was struggling with life on the inside, life seemed to be falling through my fingers and it didn’t matter what I tried to do, I couldn’t quite grasp it. One day I was at home, the house was quiet when this strange feeling came over me, I couldn’t breathe and I was convinced I was going to die. I didn’t of course, but it was my first panic attack and they stayed with me for a few years until the day I made the decision to sell up, leave work and travel. The panic attacks disappeared, like they were never there at all.

I had a blissful 10 or 12 months without a panic attack, but as normal life resumed from traveling and I went back to work, the panic attacks also returned. Of course I couldn’t go off travelling again, well I could but I wasn’t really wanting to do that, but I did need something to support me. I went to a yoga class not far from home, it wasn’t like the usual Yoga classes I had been to before. The class was held in a quiet room, away from the noise of a busy gym and it was longer, about 90 minutes, allowing more time to deepen the practice.

The first time I attended the class, my anxiety was through the roof. I was struggling to conceal the panic attack, it was with me for most of the class, yet I still managed to continue. It was like I knew on some level a change was occurring with the answer coming towards the end of the class. I had a light bulb moment, that if I just focused on my breath, deep yogic breathing, my panic would go away. I had been told about focusing on my breathing before to manage the panic attacks, but this was something different, it was deeper and it was about noticing me in a moment and what was needed, I realised in that moment that I had full control of the panic attacks when they visited, they did not have to control me. It was a small win for my own confidence and my own empowerment at a time where I felt there was none.

With practice, I began to change, I felt more calm, more composed, stable, alive with more clarity. As my yoga practice continued through the years, my creativity began to return. I had some experience of my creativity returning as I travelled, but I hadn’t quite connected that the panic attacks were to do with my own personal alignment to my true nature, of what an important element creativity was and the impact of not having creativity in my life was having on me. As I travelled I had re-captured that part of me through writing and photography but once I had returned to work and left it all behind the panic attacks resumed

I began to understand that creativity was an important part of my wellbeing, it wasn’t a nice to have but a necessity. and that I needed it. I wrote blogs, poetry, played with colour, made jewellery and I grew a beautiful garden in the home that I settled in after travelling. All of these things were a foundation for what was to come, but I didn’t know that then, it was a learning curve of having more trust and faith in myself. I always say it was yoga that re-connected me to that and brough me back to life again. Yoga still remains an important part of my life and will continue to be an important part of The Connection Compass. There was no force or pressure, through yoga there was just a revealing, an uncovering of all that was buried underneath, the person that was there all along, I just hadn’t given myself the space or time before to see it.
