In my defense, I did have a rather large slug of sherry. I never meant to write this poem. It wrote itself while my human was meditating. 

All those videos and photos on the news and social media
claiming to be this, that and the other - 
does anyone take the time to consult an encyclopedia? 
Not really. That's how the truth remains smothered
and it's a very important issue
when a quarter truth becomes a big lie.
Is that really happening in say, Mogadishu
or is it all propagandized pie in the sky?

We watch while absurdism grows fatter and fatter
draining common sense from the mob.
Empty heads filled with constant chatter
while the deceivers polish their knobs.

If you're sharing information without verification -
you are doing more harm than good.

I threw a bunch of rowdy teenagers off my lawn today. The lawn isn't actually mine; it's common ground but it's in front of my apartment. I thoroughly enjoyed President Trump's July 4 speech. 

The Brits need to have another Peasants' Revolt, but this time no shaking hands with the King. This time, you smash his head in and don't forget the part where your ancestors dragged the corrupt lawyers, judges, politicians and other assorted maggots from their chambers and did terrible (but lovely to watch if you're a disenfranchised peasant) things to them. 

Wouldn't it be lovely if the veterans in Britain united, asked friendly billionaires to purchase revolution-friendly items and use them to overthrow the government? It would save many British lives. Civil war is inevitable. The Establishment will never surrender. I think we all know what needs to be done so put the kettle on. Oh England my old home - I weep for thee.

The beach is always fun
but small coastal towns are strange places.
Residents are few. Renters, there's a ton.
The locals barely tolerate the vacationing faces.

But tourists bring the money
that keeps these towns afloat.
They buy drinks, they eat, play rummy
and buy crab meat from the boats.

The locals they are cliquish 
in self-preservation mode.
It's easy to distinguish
the locals from the tourist toads.

The air is clean out here.
You'd think it would bring clarity.
Instead, and this is queer -
it brings a rabid insularity.

So many Pride flags
and not one of them is gay.
Far too many woke hashtags
carried on the ocean spray.

To live right at the water's edge -
some would consider that barmy
unless the sea gods pledge
to never cause a tsunami.

I guess they come out here
to leave the world behind.
To watch the surf, drink beer
and detach from all mankind.

I cannot say I blame them.
We've all had our fill of late
