Join us for a protest to protect Latino ballplayers and all immigrants near the Great

American Ball Park on Sunday September 6 at 11am, for one hour before game time.

Professional Latino ballplayers (almost 30% of all professional ballplayers) fear the new

immigration policies that affect them, their families and community. Come show your

solidarity not just with our local ballplayers who are immigrants, but with all immigrants

who are being threatened.

We will congregate at Main and Second. The location has been coordinated with the police.

Please bring your friends and signs. Parking possibilities can be found on the Reds’ website.

We will cancel the protest only in the event that the game is postponed due to rain at

least one hour prior to the start of the game.

We’re closing in on the home stretch for the mid term campaigns and this week it’s all about the candidates! So many meetups, so many canvasses, so many fundraisers leading up to Labor Day weekend when Pete Buttigieg will be visiting.

Oh, and we’re having book club this week! It doubles as a crochet circle, but bring any craft project you like (or none at all!). The book for this month is The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.

We were on the bridges Thursday on Montgomery.

Friday morning, the Deerfield team pre-gamed on the overpass...

...before heading to Union Terminal for a manufacturing lecture the VP was rumored to be attending. (Jury is still out whether he showed or not. The event? Was not well attended).

And Tesla on Saturday, of course.

We ask it everyday. How can we get the MAGA base to realize they’ve been conned? Why do they dig their heels in on this guy? Why do they hate the left so much?

Sarah Longwell with the Bulwark has been talking with Trump voters for years and come away with some great insights. But this week when I listened to her Focus Group podcast featuring Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report, I was gobsmacked at the comments. Here’s a taste:

“It feels like it comes across as a great lecture. Like they’re trying to lecture you into voting for them. And it’s like you’re wrong if you don’t vote for us and you are evil if you don’t vote for us because you support, you know, these guys who will kill...citizens and all, you know things like that. For me, it feels like every serious Democratic candidate I see, whether that’s for presidency or whether it’s for a big state like New York, Texas, California, whatever. I just feel like the attitude it’s kind of got like, there’s like an entitled, like ‘I’m smarter than you. I know more than you and you need to be voting for me or otherwise you’re part of the problem.’ And I think it turns off a lot of people.”

“I always thought Democrat or the left side, I guess, is supposed to be the open-minded ones. I feel that it’s kind of the opposite.”

Have a watch. With an open mind. There’s some self reflection, yes. But there’s also a lot of HopeCore on the MAGA tables finally turning.

Because DISTRICT 7 IS OFFICIALLY IN PLAY.

Ever listened to someone on the wrong side of a custody battle and find yourself feeling drowned in a cesspool of excuses?

It’s giving this.

Max Miller’s statement is all defense, no brakes. He released this live statement (which many thought would be his announcement that he was dropping out of the District 7 race) in response to some horrifying allegations from not only his ex wife, but other women in his life going back to his high school days.

Miller says in the video she’s the only accuser, but the lie detector test determined that that was a lie. He comes off guilty as sin. I hate to side with Bernie Moreno here, but...day-um.

He’s not dropping out. And it’s cringe-worthy.

We have to get out of our comfort zones, more than we already have by being in the streets.

Join us for a protest to protect Latino ballplayers and all immigrants near the Great

American Ball Park on Sunday August 2 at 12:30pm, for one hour before game time.

Professional Latino ballplayers (almost 30% of all professional ballplayers) fear the new

immigration policies that affect them, their families and community. Come show your

solidarity not just with our local ballplayers who are immigrants, but with all immigrants

who are being threatened.

We will congregate at Main and Second.

The location has been coordinated with the police.

Please bring your friends and signs.

Parking possibilities can be found on the Reds’ website.

We will cancel the protest only in the event that the game is postponed due to rain at

least one hour prior to the start of the game.

Hope you all had an energizing Fourth and everyone stayed hydrated and safe. The weekend was hella inspiring for me, I don’t know about y’all.

I’d like to take this moment to thank and express my extreme pride and love and appreciation and admiration and all the other good feels for the crew that headed to DC in sweltering conditions. Each one of you is truly an American hero.

Friday we were on Deerfield celebrating the beginning of the Independence weekend.

We were able to do two bridges in Lockland, thanks to some reserve troops showing up (Thanks Kim, Jeff and Alesia!)

And even with all the 4th of July events, we still managed a hearty turnout at TESLA!

Meanwhile, CCA’s bravest were signing the constitution in DC!

I think I’ve finally recovered from D-Day on Saturday! We covered a total of nine bridges across the city. All over the TikTok account, I’m getting comments from people who saw us in the wild.

We were on I75 on Ezzard Charles

An exit or two up on I75 on Monmouth, Chris brought out our OG signs, the first set we ever made:

Further up I75 we were on double duty Wyoming and Lock.

On I71, we started on Ridge at Tesla

Nearby, Katy had a team at Deerfield on I71

And on Montgomery on I71.

We also had a team over I74 on New Haven Rd in Harrison

John and his wife manned Cross County Highway on Plainfield Rd.

AND FOR OUR GRAND FINALE, we all gathered on the Lincoln Heights bridge that was recently soiled by the presence of Nazis (Swastikas and everything) to take back that bridge on I75.

If you missed us and you’re inspired to get out there, we’ve got tons of opportunities! But with this bridge especially we plan to have a presence on Friday June 19, Juneteenth. Details should be available soon.

June 14, as we know...is Flag Day. Indivisible is hosting a massive concert in NYC that will be live streamed, but several other events are popping up where you can show your solidarity.

First and foremost, join us downtown outside the Reds game. Here’s more from Rabbi Perlman:

Join us for a protest to protect Latino ballplayers and all immigrants near the Great American Ball Park on Sunday June 14 at 12:30pm, for one hour before game time.

Professional Latino ballplayers (almost 30% of all professional ballplayers) fear the new immigration policies that affect them, their families and community. Come show your solidarity not just with our local ballplayers who are immigrants, but with all immigrants who are being threatened.

We will congregate at Main and Second. The location has been coordinated with the police. Please bring your friends, signs, whistles and drums.

D-Day Demonstrations this Saturday!

When I say D-Day I am in fact referring to the 82nd anniversary of the Normandy invasion during World War II. D-Day itself is a military term that means “the day an operation will be initiated” but it has come to widely refer to this one operation that turned the tide of this penultimate conflict and laid the groundwork for Hitler to be defeated.

We at Coffee. Compassion. Action! are committed to non-violence. Our battle is fought with words. Quite often words placed on tarps with tape over highway banners. So when the national Visibility Brigade called for a nation-wide turnout on bridges on June 6, how could we not show up?

We’re currently compiling a list of bridges that will be manned and will send an update later in the week.

If you’re nervous to try a bridge out for the first time, we have several smaller events throughout the week if you’d like to get your feet wet. Here we are on Thursday morning on Montgomery Road overpass.

Then later that night on Monmouth Ave.

We also turned out in FORCE yesterday at Triiibe Foundation’s Potluck for the People in Piatt Park. There are foodserves scheduled throughout the month at Piatt, it’s a great way to turn up for those of you passionate about mutual aid and projects where you can see the results immediately.

My grandparents didn’t actually fight fascism. I forget the medical reason Bob Nocks was turned away from military service, but two of his brothers fought in World War II and one of them, Emery Lee, gave his life in a submarine during the biggest conflict the world has ever seen. Now, in our hometown of Aurora, Indiana, the VFW post is named after him.

I think of him every Memorial Day. But I think of his brother Jackie too, who came back from the war with a lot of demons and did not live long thereafter. I think of my father, who served in the Navy for 20 years to pay for medical care for my disabled brother. My father is still alive, but I remember sitting in the middle school cafeteria in 1990 when Operation Desert Storm was announced, worrying about the future. And about why we were going to war in the first place.

35 years later and we’re still fighting those battles. I don’t know about you, but I’d like it to stop. It’s only one of the reasons I’m on the streets with you guys. And I’ll keep turning up.

This week we were mostly back to our normal schedule (while a small wrench thrown in when the Vice President decided to come home for the weekend).

The Montgomery crew spread to two bridges last week and Monmouth had a really healthy turnout, thanks to Mike’s appearance on the CCA Pod People podcast.

A few of us gathered at the North Central library to watch Suuzz in action demonstrating her dropcloth banner process. It was surprisingly cathartic, painting like that. Can’t wait to make my own.

And Friday Dave headed up Deerfield Rd.

While us girls held down Lockland

Later that night, we were gaming it up on a rainy night at Matt’s house. Congrats to the twins for winning...whatever that game was we were playing. It was fun, though.

Saturday we started off at Tesla

And closed out the day at JD’s!

And were back on it yesterday as well, never missing an opportunity to remind the VP who he’s really working for.

Tuesday night the second part of the Downtown NonViolent training sessions will be on at the Downtown Library Room 3 South E at 5pm

Thursday is a three bridge day this week! First, on Montgomery...

And Monmouth!

But the Clough Pike Bridgeadiers are returning to the East Side from 2:30 - 4:30 - Park at the LDS Church, 700 Clough Pike.

There is also a Red Wine and Blue event at Fine Wine O’Clock on Thursday.

And again, it’s in Columbus but there’s also a Great Climate Lobby Day at the Ohio Statehouse.

Clermont Co Brewing Change Coffee Klatch will be as it always is, Friday at 4pm. They’ll have Data Center petitions, so if you haven’t signed - get on out there!

And there’s another Red Wine and Blue social event on Friday, this time a coffee conversation at Adesso Spirits in Mason.

Saturday we’re having our own coffee date at Moonflower at 9am before Tesla.

The Tesla crew will be out as usual Saturday at 11am on Ridge - park at Jack in the Box.

Saturday is another FULL DAY training for NonViolence. This week they’ll be in Liberty Township at the Midpoint Library starting at 10am.

The Working Families Party is having a welcome gathering from 1 - 3pm at Braxton Brewing.

I have not heard word that the singing demonstration has stopped, so I’m assuming they’re still going at Fountain Square at 3pm! If you’ve been to this event, let me know how they’re going!

Sunday come on out to Plainfield for a nice bridge demonstration!

Giff will also be out canvassing with Ground Truth in Norwood, it’s a great way to wet your feet for campaign season.

And there’s no flyer yet, but a large coalition of people are starting a series of demonstrations at Reds Stadium for Sunday home games, this Sunday is the first one at 12:30 outside the Great American Ballpark.

This week, we’re coming together! Thursday night we’ll be painting a large banner designed by our Drop Cloth Diva Suuzz. (It’s gonna say ELECT A CLOWN, EXPECT A CIRCUS. Fun, right?) Then Friday night we’re going to decompress with some GAMES. The location is a private address, but there’s still plenty of space - respond to this email and we’ll add you to the RSVP list for the address.

This past week we took advantage of the weather and went to DAYTON to demonstrate against the ICE Career fair happening in town. We were there on Tuesday...

And Saturdays 50501 joined the TESLA crew for a special message in the pouring rain against the Voting Rights decision by SCOTUS!

Plainfield was back from their Mother’s Day hiatus. Might be my favorite banner of the month.

We’re always looking for new message ideas and more bridge partners! As you see, some of the overpasses have been co-opted by Click It or Ticket signs so with Campaign Summer coming, we need all the hands we can get and we have a WHOLE LIST of overpasses to try. There’s never been a better time to get out there with us.

If you’re hesitant to join because you don’t know anyone or don’t know what to expect, come join us at the North Central Library this Thursday where the bridgeadiers will be painting a new banner together.

There’s two bridge events on Thursdays, first in the morning on Montgomery.

And Monmouth goes from 4 - 5

Friday mornings we have two simultaneous bridges for morning rush hour on Deerfield

And Saturdays are for TESLA!

Though we weren’t there last week due to Mother’s Day, we’re on Plainfield Road’s overpass on Sunday afternoons. Come out and join us! The more leaders we recruit, the more bridges we can cover.
