I’m love creating comedy, but my closet is probably my most prized possession. I’ve always loved clothing. I’ve always been up on trends long before they’re written about (that sounds like a brag but I think my eye just sees a look and clocks it?) and I grew up with a mom who hid her shopping bags in the trunk until my dad went to bed. She loves fashion maybe even more than me. Does she like to share? Nope. But it helps that we’re the same size shoe, because I happen to “forget to pack shoes” 8/10 times when I go visit my parents.

In the pandemic I tried to limit my phone time in bed. I said I wasn’t going to go on the big social media apps once I got into bed. I was disciplined! Right? Lol, I never told myself I couldn’t shop online though, so that became my thing. I’d get into bed and scour the internet for things I didn’t need. I’d look at the explore page for what the algorithm knew I wanted BEFORE bed, and then when I was in bed I could just shop endlessly. Store sites were allowed! Tiktok wasn’t. It became a fun time of night. Did I dose off while looking at sneaker sites and order mens sneakers by accident? Absolutely. Did I do it twice? Unfortunately yes. The best part was walking them into a Foot Locker and saying, “oops! I ordered a men’s 7 instead of a women’s 7 because I shop while I’m half asleep from my bed at 2am.” (I’m a size 7 in case you are Prada and reading this post.) It was actually the lesson that made me stop shopping in bed. I can’t go into debt while I’m asleep! What fun is that?

Lately I feel like I have been in this ‘in between’ phase. I’m sort of motivated to do all of these projects and ideas and then I get overwhelmed as to where to start and then I decide to let my brain relax by looking at clothing online. Or in stores. Or both if I’m being honest. I just want to shop. Even on my trip my boyfriend had a whole itinerary that I loved to fuck up because I wanted to shop. It’s mindless and exciting for me! And a Zara in another country somehow feels cooler than the Zara in NY. So it’s basically a museum. This is girl geography.

So what have I been shopping for? EVERYTHING. I thought it would be fun to share the most vulnerable side of shopping with you - the windows I have open on my phone of things I wish I could pull the trigger on.

For as long as I can remember, I had seen the images of the white and blue cliffs of Santorini and thought, that’s where I want to go. Greece always seemed like this magical, stunning place that looked like a postcard. A honeymoon destination. (Or I’ve just watched Mamma Mia 1 & 2 so many times it’s etched in my brain.)

It wasn’t our honeymoon (hello I’m not married) but this year my boyfriend and I had a LOT to celebrate. It was my birthday (a milestone one, if you will), and as a double Gemini, we go HARD for birthdays. Month long celebrations. Even as I write this in July, it’s still my birthday. It was also our 10 year anniversary of being boyfriend & girlfriend - an accomplishment! No one even asks if we’re getting married anymore and I like it that way. So, we said fuck it lets spend all of our money and take a lavish trip to Greece! So many of you followed along from Instagram, so I wanted to put all of our favorite things we did in one place!

I must say, I do not make itineraries for trips… but luckily my boyfriend Jared does. He put together most of this trip, and I was the one to “ruin” said itinerary with things like, “there’s a store I want to go shop in,” or, “hey I brought wigs when can we have a shoot day?!” (10 years…and he hasn’t left yet!)

So here’s what we did!

I wanted to go in style, aka fly Delta One. As a Delta girlie, I’ve only flown it once before (for a job and they paid for it) and it was so memorable I don’t even remember where I was flying. But we knew we were going so we used points and saved up for this! We actually flew to Rome first, because it was way cheaper… and we love Rome! So we spent a couple days there where I spent twice as much as I would have if we had just flown straight to Greece. GIRL MATH. Leave me alone.

We didn’t stay anywhere too fancy because we were saving our splurge for Santorini. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Palace Hotel (A Renaissance Hotel) in Rome. It was clean, it had a big room, even bigger bathroom, felt renovated and honestly was perfect! In a quieter area too. And we walked everywhere in Rome. This pasta was above was the best bowl of carbonara I have ever had (yes it’s also gluten free noodles) and I will dream of it forever. It was a small hole in the wall spot near the Colosseum called Benso 215. GO!

Other Rome Restaurants: Il Falchetto, Tonarello, Da Enzo, Da Fortunata, Roscioli (any of em!)

We flew to Athens after Rome, and it was my first time in Greece! Honestly, the food is beyonddd in Athens. We ate at some amazing restaurants. We also saw the Acropolis & Parthenon. I swear I don’t just eat and shop, I do things my boyfriend Jared wants to do too. Does he make a whole itinerary for us? Yes. Do I fuck it up because I want to shop? You bet! But hey that’s what makes us compatible…?

AMAZING FOOD (below): First pic, Karamanlidika (went for lunch it was incredible. Who knew the pastrami in Athens was amazing?) Second pic is an amazing tuna carpaccio at lsandia (great dinner spot, chic and fun) and the third pic is from Pharoah - a tough res but worth it! We had such a good meal there. I will dream of these dishes.

Other Athens Restaurants: September 18, Picky Brunch, Pracsitele, Souviaki Kostas, Manari

Ok then we flew to Santorini. 40-45 minute flight, super easy from Athens. There’s also a ferry but we said lets just get there and fly. Jared picked our hotel… and I’m SO glad. It was perfect. It was not the most expensive hotel on the island by any means, but it was one of the nicer ones, and it was in Oía. We were told Oía was at the top of the island and had the best sunsets. (After being there, you can really see the sunset from any of the towns and they’re all amazing.) EVERYONE I talked to before this trip said, “don’t go to Santorini it’s too touristy go to one of the smaller islands!” Umm, wrong. Everyone knows about Paros and Naxos and Milos and the others… anywhere you go now is touristy, hello, we have Substack & Tiktok. I had never seen Santorini so I was excited to go! I couldn’t stare at photos my whole life and NOT go! We stayed at the Charisma Suites. It was perfect. All of the rooms were built into caves in the mountain. It was the white & blue I dreamed of! The pool was so high and clear that I even went in (I famously don’t go in water). Every night you’d send in your breakfast order and they’d set it up on the terrace in the morning. IT WAS AMAZING. I will go back there in a heartbeat. I recommend to everyone! The staff was so sweet, the location rocked, the champagne toasts at sunset they had, ALL FABULOUS.

Santorini was magical. We hiked the island on the first day from the town of Fira all the way to Oía. (Took a bus to Fira to start there.) The hike was great, we could see all of the surrounding islands and we ended up hiking through some of the towns so we really got a feel for Santorini. It was about a 3 hour hike, a little over 6 miles.

Day 2 we did a boat day. That’s a thing in Santorini that I wasn’t aware of. Everyone does these Catamaran tours around the islands - you either do a day boat or an evening boat tour and they have a meal and drinks on board! We chose a day one (though the night ones they take you to see the sunset and it’s stunning) and it was a lot of fun! We chose a regular one with a group of people, they pick you up from the hotel, and it’s really pretty organized. There are a lot of companies that do these. We did one with Santorini Sailing Center Renieris and the staff was awesome. Highly recommend. And funny enough there was only 1 other couple on the boat so we basically had a private tour! They took us to a few different spots around the volcanos and made us a delish lunch. (And no I did not go in the water but Jared did!)

Santorini Restuarants: Pelekanos, White Lounge (for the Sunset), Thalami, Ambrosia, Ammoudi Tavern, Dimitris Ammoudi, Lolitas Gelato

We stayed in Santorini for 4 nights. We didn’t want to island hop this trip since we did 2 cities before Santorini. Next trip I’d like to see some more Greek islands! But truthfully 4 nights, 5 days in Santorini was incredible. The fish is so fresh, the water’s are turquoise, and no one thinks you’re weird for recreating Mamma Mia in the exact Meryl Streep outfit! Yes I traveled with wigs, and Jared’s used to having to make content on vacation…and he hasn’t left me yet!

Anyway, we went back to Athens for one more night to fly back to NYC. We stayed in a little boutique hotel that I booked 2 days before (sometimes we roll that way…) called Ivis4 Boutique Hotel and it was great! Clean, big room, nice, and steps away from Psyri which was such a cute area of Greece with lots of fun restaurants and bars and little pathways. Almost like a baby Soho. (I didn’t love where we were the first 2 nights in Athens so I won’t link it.) Anyway, I’d stay there again. It was nice! We were only there a night.

Overall, I loved this trip. TOP 5 PLACES I’VE BEEN TO. As you know I’m more of a comedian than travel blogger but I honestly love sharing my life with you all.
