I really enjoy doing in-person recordings, but of course there are only a few people who ever make it to the charming rural off grid Maine studio!

In this episode, I attempt to explain a meditative project undertaken after a recent re-reading of Steiner’s first few books. These early works are all on epistemological matters:

This meditative project, like many, can be a little challenging to explain, and is perhaps not very interesting to read about (you can listen to the video if curious!) but has had a significant impact on my current thinking about topics such as ethical individualism and inner freedom. In the video linked at the end, Angus and I discussed various researchers of unorthodox energy theories of the past century—and the problematic fact that little or nothing has resulted.

And so, the questions become:

• Is this lack of proof a matter of academic and institutional capture?

  • Productization is expensive and a very different management process than invention. Perhaps some proofs are real but nobody has productized them? Productization has a lot in common with repeatability.

• Is it that few individuals possess the genius to break through the orthodoxy?

• Is it that culturally and spiritually we are not yet ready? Steiner indicated that sometimes inventors did not understand how their own individuality and etheric forces were interacting with the experiments. (A modern day example might be John Hutchison [or not!])

• Is it truly a pattern that these researchers die in poverty or of suspicious ends?

  • Tesla, Reich, Schauberger [the latter was not poverty, but perhaps despair]

  • Well, not always: see Walter Russell, Thomas E Beardon, Hal Puthoff…

Centripetal: comes from the periphery and acts toward the center. Latin centrum "center" and petere "to seek."

Centrifugal: move away from the center or axis toward the periphery. Latin centrum ("center") and fugere ("to flee")

Use of centrifugal principles are common in human engineering (water pumps, large scale air compressors.)

As discussed in the prior few posts, Viktor Schauberger’s engineering work was focused on nature observation and mimicry: and on observing how nature uses centripetal principles—on the etheric level, and, on the physical level in conventional physics (i.e. gravity.)

Nature also exhibits centrifugal principles, or combinations of the two (i.e. tornadoes, volcanoes, expansion)

In the fictional mountain village where portions of my books are set, there is an inventor/ jack of all trades who keeps a workshop. Above the workshop door is a sign that reads:

Gravity / Levity
Space / Counter-Space
Time / Reverse Time
Know Thyself

The first three pairings refer to the unorthodox theories of energy and physical reality.

In addition to the forces we perceive as gravity, there are forces of levity. The life forces. Viktor Schauberger, by way of Callum Coats, describes levity as such:

“Another pair of antitheses, not considered by science, are Gravitation and Levitation. Levitation is not taken into account at all, consideration being given only to gravitation, although a levitational force is basic to Nature. Viktor Schauberger once commented wryly that instead of asking himself what caused the apple to fall to the ground, Sir Isaac Newton should have asked how it got up there in the first place! What else if not levitation enables a tree to grow upwards against the action of gravity? Were there no levity, the tree would just spread out horizontally over the ground in a green amorphous mass. It does thrust skywards, however, and does so in response to another force operating in the opposite direction.”

Counter-space is the pairing to Space. I’m not sure the first to coin the term, but Rudolf Steiner described it in his astronomy lectures. It has been more recently expanded on by alternative theorists, such as Eric Dollard. (See this Reddit post for a little overview and links. )

Think therefore for a moment that you had to do not only with ordinary space, conceived in its three dimension, but with a “counter-space” or anti-space”. Let me call it so for the moment, and I will try to evoke an idea of it, as follows. Suppose I form the thought of ordinary, three-dimensional, rigid space. I form the first dimension, I form the second dimension and I form the third dimension Then I have, so to speak, filled-in in thought—in the idea and mental presentation of it—three-dimensional space with which I am ordinarily confronted. Now as you know, in any such domain you can not only advance up to a certain degree of intensity; you can subtract from it too, and as you go on subtracting—taking away—you come at last to the negation of it. As you are well aware, there is not only wealth but debt. Likewise I cannot only make the three dimensions to arise in thought but I can also make them vanish. Only I now imagine the arising and vanishing to be a real process,—something hat is really there. Of course it is possible to think only two dimensions instead of three, but that is not my meaning. What I now mean is this: The reason why I only have two dimensions

“Reverse time” is the topic of the conversation Angus and I had today, but we were talking about the astral theory. I first became aware of the scientific concept through the work of contemporary electrical engineer and researcher Eric B. Dollard.

I believe it’s somewhere in the video below, but you can at least get a flavor!

A cloudbuster is a simple device that can be constructed with no moving parts. At a small scale, it can be made by a hobbyist with basic wood working tools in an afternoon. Theoretically, in conjunction with the operator’s skill, it can be used to transform/move atmospheric orgone energies to either create or stop rain. These effects can be felt, theoretically, on a regional scale, and so the operator must be responsible. It might be fiction, it might be placebo, it might be real. (Here’s an article written by Dennis Klocek about his experiments with the device)

The inventor of the cloudbuster was Wilhelm Reich, who died in 1957 after being imprisoned by the FDA and having his books burned. In the 1950s, the FDA had spent the equivalent of $117 million in today’s dollars to accomplish this imprisonment. Reich died in prison, 3 days before a parole hearing, at age 60 of a heart attack. (Do you believe that?) I have written more about Reich’s story in this article from last year.

This past spring, I read some about Schauberger in the beautiful and authoritative work by Callum Coats called Living Energies. But the book was heavy and big, and I’ve been carrying around much smaller works in the past month of back and forth, and so was much surprised to find the surprise ending in The Hunt for Zero Point by Nick Cook to be all about… Schauberger.

The Hunt for Zero Point starts off as a fast paced pond-crossing pop-journalism exploration of military black programs, with a focus on antigravity technologies. (a.k.a. gravity shielding and other euphemisms.) The author briefly introduces, and then quickly dismisses Schauberger’s nature-oriented, almost mystical research. But, after jumping back and forth between Britain, USA, Germany, Poland, and other continental sites, he offers the suprise ending twist: (spoiler alert) by way of things like Operation Paperclip, Schauberger, who was forced to work for the SS under threat of hanging, might actually have been the original source behind the now deep black US military unorthodox propulsion and gravity shielding tech.

The biggest clue being, in the mid 1990s, a Russian scientist, Dr. Evgeny Podkletnov, working in Finland demonstrated and published a gravity-shielding effect. The author of Hunt for Zero-Point describes interviewing Podkletnov and finding out that the scientist’s father, also an engineer, had received original copies of Schauberger’s work after the fall of Nazi Germany and the Russian forces sacking of Schauberger’s apartment.

And so we find that the Russians had access to the work Schauberger was forced to perform by the SS. But of course, so did the USA. A detail of which I was unaware, outlined in Hunt for Zero Point, was the extent of the planned and organized effort to extract as much German technology as possible with the fall of the Nazis. There were also serious underground facilities. The author reports, quoting a USAAF report, that,

“Although the Germans did not go underground at a large scale until March 1944, they managed to get approximately 143 underground factories into production by the last few months of the war” (p. 68 The Hunt for Zero Point, 2003 paperback)

Wilhelm Reich’s work tracks a different set of theories around energy, and was not focused on propulsion effects or other forms of motive power. Perhaps that is why he was imprisoned by the FDA, as opposed to something like the military.

I am in the middle of reading some of Reich’s books, as well as those by supplementary secondary authors, and my unfortunate impression is of hubris. Reich refers to himself throughout the book Ether, God, and Devil, as the discoverer of orgone, in lines such as:

“The discovery of cosmic energy occurred in a similar fashion [to Columbus ‘discovering’ America]. In reality, I have made only one single discovery: the function of orgastic plasma production…
In one respect, the discovery of orgone differs from the discovery of America: orgone energy functions in all human beings and before all eyes. America first had to be found.” (p. 5 Ether, God, & Devil and Cosmic Superimposition, 1973, p.o.d. edition)

Beyond the obvious ways that this analogy fails seventy-five years hence, Reich does go on to imply that cosmic orgone energy is the substrate for both the theories of God and ether, while also stating “I do not claim to have discovered God or ether.” (p. 44)

This framing of God and ether sets up Reich’s antithesis of “mystical” versus “mechanistic” people. Both are, in this system, incorrect, in different mirror-image ways.

As what I have gathered to date, Reich’s theory of orgone includes:

• there is good, health-giving orgone as well as dangerous orgone

• dangerous orgone is referred to as dor.

• orgone is present everywhere, and it can be accumulated or manipulated (the boxes, the cloudbuster)

• people who have biophysical (psychological-physiological) armoring are not suited to accurately perceiving or manipulating orgone.

• radium and other radioactives create “bad orgone” (the oronor effect was discovered when Reich put a small amount of radium in an orgone acculmulator and it demonstrated a health-harmful effect locally)

• an orgone accumulator is a closet-type box constructed of wood outer-layer and walls created through layering organic materials (example, sheep wool) with sheet metal. The more alternating layers, the more potency. Sitting inside of the box is supposed to have the effect of accumulating good orgone and providing health benefits (the FDA took issue with this.) But, sitting inside of an accumulator in a dangerous-orgone environment might be risky.

• a cloudbuster is a series of long tubes (say 1 inch metal pipes) inserted through a plate which allows them to be aimed at the sky/clouds. The ‘ground side’ of the tubes is connected to a natural water source via flexible tubes.

Schauberger’s inventions are described in The Hunt for Zero Point thus:

“One was a water purifier. Another was a device capable of generating high-voltage electricity. A third was for ‘biosynthesizing’ hydrogen fuel from water. A fourth was a machine that ‘naturally’ produced intense heat or cold. The fifth, dubbed the ‘fleigende scheibe’ or ‘flying saucer',’ was the unconventional aero-engine that had come to the attention of Heinkel and others during 1941.” (p.218)

Schauberger’s work is characterized by its nature-mimicry of vortex forms, and then use of these forms at extremely high RPMs (20,000 or more) to (probably) generate torsion fields. One of the visible effects was a bluish-white light, an effect also reported with Reich’s experiments.

Schauberger was encouraged to go to the US to work with a wealthy businessman who promised to manufacture Schauberger’s inventions. Schauberger, already unwell, was tricked into signing away all of his designs, patents, and inventions. Likely in part due to despair, Schauberger died five days later after returning to Austria. The US businessman had connections to military intelligence. (Details outlined in The Hunt for Zero Point and Living Energies)

What is zero-point, and what is a torsion field? Again, from The Hunt for Zero Point, where the author describes speaking with Marckus, his physicist-confidante:

“There was evidence, Marckus had told me, that particles appeared to slow down when they entered a torsion field. ‘Since the zero-point energy field is composed of billions of tiny fluctuations of energy that pop in and out of existence every split second, relentlessly and infinitely,’ he’d explained, ‘anything that can mesh with those fluctuations, so the theory goes, can tap into them and extract energy from the field. That’s what some people, myself included, believe that a torsion field does.’” (p. 232)

I find the term “free-energy” to be a little obfuscating, though it is the best-recognized term referring to the conglomeration of alternate theories about how things work.

But, I’d point out, if a system is expensive to build and has undesirable environmental side effects, it’s hardly “free” even if the fuel source is right there for the taking (hydro, solar panels and batteries, wind turbines, whatever mainstream alternate comes next.) Because of the environmental effects, these are no more “free” fuel sources than oil or wood.

Zero-point is the term for a specific free-energy theory,as described above.

For this reason, I will refer to the grouping of this body of research as “unorthodox energy theories.”

What’s your favorite unorthodox energy theory out there?

Key themes of this discussion:

• Sharing knowledge without proselytizing;

• Respecting the freedom of the other human being;

• Who is afraid of saying the word “spirit”?

• The mystery of the words Soul and Spirit.

• “Psychology only emerges in the absence of cosmology” is a quote from Robert Sardello, who Piers mentioned in a previous video. (Minute 25 in this episode);

• The brain as a sense organ for thoughts.

We loosely structured this conversation around Lecture 1 of GA 234. GA stands for Gesamtausgabe, which is the term used to organize the 6000+ lectures and books from Steiner. Part of the reason we use the GA numbers to refer to things is because the original German titles and the English titles can differ widely, to the point of confusion.

Around minute 35 I make a statement about the “two questions”. This is a slight misremembering. You can see my artistic response to the Philosophy of Freedom (PoF) here; and the specific two questions from PoF, as I understood them, were:

1. What is the essential nature of man?
2. Do we have free will?

In Lecture 1 of GA 234, the two questions described as dwelling within all human beings are:

1. What is the relation of the human being to nature? What am I?
2. Why does my inner state not have the consistency of outer existence? What sustains the stone but requires that my thoughts be constantly renewed?

So, it is clear that these two sets of questions have definite overlap, and question 1 is the same, but question 2 has been a little transformed.

Some other notes: for the past three months, I have been much busier than planned or expected with work projects that required intensive attention. Thus, the podcast series I had started (“seeing the patterns”) is on hold for a while. Instead, I’m posting these conversations with my friends, which are loosely structured around Steiner’s philosophy and research, because (a) I’m having the conversations anyway, and (b) they require very little preparation!

So, consider this “Summer Section 2026 at The Journal for Apophenic Research”: A series of conversations about living, pure, abstract, and dead thinking, evolution of consciousness, and language. Regular writing and content about technology, patterns, and their intersection with spirit and soul will, I hope, return after things quiet down in the other parts of my life.

We loosely structured the discussion around GA 299, which is a 1919-1920 lecture series from Rudolf Steiner called The Genius of Language.

Living and Dead Languages, the language forming Genius

In traditional linguistic terminology, a dying language is one that is declining in speakership.

In Steiner’s anthroposophical terminology, living and dead are used to describe a subtle understanding that extends to things and states that are not typically understood as “alive” or “dead.”

Genius, in this context, can be understood as at the spirit or intelligence of the language.

Evolution of Consciousness as evidenced by Language. Pronouns, pronoun shifts, and I-consciousness

We are not discussing pronouns in the way the term has been used of late in English to describe gender sense or fluidity—this is a discussion of the linguistic aspect of pronouns as they emerge across language families.

There are verbal-primary languages (Arabic, Russian, some European languages) and there are subject-(or pronoun) primary languages—such as English and Swedish.

Angus brought in a great insight about Ancient Greek: in Pre-Socratic writings the subject experienced the gods acting through various parts of their bodies, and did not experience themselves as individual selves in any degree of the clarity to which we now do.

Large Language Models, AI, and language study

LLMs (a.k.a. AIs) and what they bring forward about language; the indications on ahrimanic intelligence, and the indications about the mystery of how we incorporate technology into human life with wisdom.

Strengthening the Emotional Life

Angus references a section of Steiner’s Philosophy of Freedom around 1:11, and the actual quote is below:

The farther we descend into the depths of our own life and let our feelings sound along with our experiences of the outer world, the more we separate ourselves from universal existence. A true individuality will be the one who reaches up the farthest with his feelings into the region of the ideal. There are people with whom even the most general ideas that settle in their heads still bear that particular coloring which shows them to be unmistakably connected with their bearer. Other people exist whose concepts approach us without any trace of individual character, as though they had not sprung forth at all from a person of flesh and blood.

Everyone says it in the author’s note, but I didn’t realize it until actually sitting down to publish books. The support of others is really essential. There is a gulf—an ocean—between writing a complete first draft and publishing a book, even if you ‘self-publish,’ as I am (which in this modern age really means, setting up a publishing company and then using print-on-demand technologies.)

Crossing that gulf means crossing the psychological boundary of sharing something so deeply connected with your own soul and letting it go into the world. And for me, it has been 2 or 3 years each time between a finished first draft and a final published version. I worked on the first two books simultaneously, just as I am working on Book 3 now.

• I have not yet released the digital or kindle version, and I removed the Book One digital version from the marketplace because I wasn’t happy with the layout. Possibly later this summer if a week of hours becomes available. I like to use a fair bit of text and image formatting within the pages of the printed book, and this requires effort to translate to digital versions.

• The listing on Amazon has a bizarre little quirk where it says I have released 3 books in this series. I have not: it’s only two. Apophenia Gold and Mercury’s Riddles.

I’m really pleased to share this conversation with Piers Kaniuka, who is a friend and connection from Maine. We open by going through his background, which connects directly to many of the drug-culture and mind-control conspiracy theories. He works in the field of recovery, and has had much opportunity to consider, as he refers to it, “the manufacturing of addiction and addicts.”

I would like to mention: I’ve never heard the term “conspiracy theory” as a pejorative (though of course it is)—instead, I always heard it in my head as a literal theory about a conspiracy or conspiracies attempted or enacted by a group of people.

One irony of looking into the shadows of culture is: for many people, exposure to these conspiracy theories becomes the reason they turn to spiritual seeking.

So while this conversation opens up with a history of American conspiracy theories, it leads right into the spiritual side. Often revelations require difficult passage. The second part of the conversation is loaded with anthroposophical lingo, which we mostly do not explain. 🫠

It’s useful for me to hear the paths others have taken to their questions. Good questions are the key.

Piers recently did a conversation with Ronda on Christology in the context of anthroposophy. One of the things that Steiner emphasized is that we can’t “withdraw unlovingly” from the world in order to protect our own vibration—that is what the Essenes did, and is not appropriate these days because it is selfish.

What is instead asked of us is to develop the ability to witness the evil that is occurring around us AND maintain our own spiritual equanimity and continued development—because only through that can evil be transformed and redeemed. This willingness to face challenging people and circumstances with equanimity is one of the (many) things I admire about Piers and his work with recovery.

He brought up the fascinating and new-to-me idea that attention—(where and how we focus)—is something that is not measurable by current materialist technology, and is the key that is stolen through mind control and psyops—as well as through conspiracy theory. Yet at the same time, when this becomes obvious, attention can be reclaimed.

Always ask, “am I watching the magician’s hand or the actual event?”

In How to Know Higher Worlds, Steiner describes an experience called “learning to read the esoteric script.” It’s in this section.

Cultures have developed many different ways of reading the quality of time: Animal signs. Weather signs. Astrological indications. An actual symbolic script that hovers in the air.

My current understanding is that these all are indicators of the same matrix of reality, and one can improve skills in reading it through whatever form is most familiar or accessible.

When we first moved away from the city and suburbia, the animal signs came into the forefront. There was the new-to-me actual abundance of animals to watch and read. A murmation of starlings blessing the land and its new owner, our neighbor-to-be. The skunk under the henhouse when a problematic relationship fractured. It needed to be relocated, gently and without spraying.

The other many things that animals on the boundaries of a farm do, as part of their natural course, but also: Readable. Knowable. Meaningful.

I could expand on this thought into the other aspects of the script available for reading—but I’ll leave it for now. Tell me what you read in the world around you?

And so, this past quality of time, up through Easter, has been very intensely focused on the material world for me: house work, sewing, and organizing real things.

This conversation started with karmic realizations, moved on to social three folding, and then to esoteric Christianity and the meaning of year 2033.

One of Robert’s articles, mentioned early on, is: Toward an Associative Economy in the Sustainable Food and Farming Movement.

But my favorite part was the discussion about the Archangels or guiding spirits of North America and the United States. The role of the US and North American peoples—from a spiritual evolutionary perspective—is something I would like to understand better. Steiner described how the spiritual and physical geographic influences in North America lead to a bigger challenge with materialistic forces—which many of us living here feel very significantly.

This is another episode with Ronda of Practical Steiner. We recorded this a few weeks ago.

One of the first things we discuss is the lecture series from Rudolf Steiner about Twelve Worldviews (GA 151).

Coming up with new ideas—rather, being able to access new ideas—is given to groups of people working together. They create a vessel to receive an inspirational idea. That’s one of the concepts behind “12 people can change the world.”

From Emil Bock’s The Apocalypse of St John:

“If we translate the sentence ὁ καιρὸς ἐγγύς (ho kairos engys) as ‘the time is at hand’, we are likely to misunderstand it seriously. It would be more correct to say ‘the time is limited—time presses.’ The sentence is indeed a description of how the inner tempo, the spiritual vigour of the age will be different when mankind enters the apocalyptic era.”

In these videos, I’m making presentations that are related to anthroposophy and aim to place it in a contemporary context for people who might not be familiar with the lingo.

Language changes significantly over time. Words change which “thing-in-itself” they point to as the generations roll by. Because of this, it can be very easy to lose track of the actual spiritual stream of interest.

To use an exoteric example: There are two easily recognized political parties in the US. Or rather, the names are easy to recognize. But that name today points to what the party does today. It takes conscientiousness to remember that 25 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago: that same name pointed to something different, to a different set of political objectives.

The name points to the thing-in-itself today, but the thing-in-itself is always moving. So without discernment, you can lose track of what you actually care about.

The same thing happens to spiritual streams. Freemasonry started some hundreds of years ago as one thing, and it became another thing over time. Some of the flavor remains, but the power has moved, transformed, or been corrupted. The same could be said of so many essences.

This is hardly a conclusive video. I could spend hours trying to discern where these streams have gone over the past fifty or hundred years—and my friends and family get to listen to that!—but this video sets up the question.

But in this conversation we explored the surprising through line of secret societies and secretive groups that David has encountered in the course of his life. This included Freemasonry, Vajrayana Buddhism, and extensive meditation and wandering.

Through this podcast series, I’m asking the question of “When did you start to see through the matrix / the narrative / the pattern"?

And of course we ended with the important stuff that the last few years have brought: organic gardens, chicken coops, and life nearer the land.

This was a fun conversational tour, which started with the question: When did you start to notice that people were under a spell? It’s a little variation on the question that drives this podcast, which is: When did you first start to see the edges of the matrix/ narrative / pattern?

We talked about the magical spells of influence, propaganda, and the archons, mediumship, and then had a very nice interlude of current astrological conditions. (Recording date was February 6; the flurry of life had me delayed in posting!)

A note about mediumship and channeling: there’s long been a warning against playing around with mediumship because it can be a situation where another being enters one’s body and pushes out the human being. This is understood to happen most strongly through trance, where the human has no memory or consciousness of what has transpired. What we discussed was a “lighter” form of this sort of channeling, where a human is still semi-conscious, but also—as is the primary topic of discussion—appears under a spell.

The word archons comes from the Greek, translated as rulers, and is used in the famous and time-appropriate verse Ephesians 6:12. The Greek interlinear is pictured below.

A literary device I chose is that of “conspiracy theory”—and I know this term had its modern origins in a sort of magical spell woven by CIA (CIA Dispatch 1035-906). This spell facilitated the mainstream media in its chastisement of anyone who believed an unsanctioned story.

But, as David Ray Griffin so aptly points out in his book about 9/11, whether you believe in the Osama bin Laden-hijackers story, or the exploding buildings story, you are believing in a conspiracy theory. One is just sanctioned by the mainstream, one is not.

This is true for many of the other events of present time. And for that reason, I think conspiracy theories are useful “pointers” to the tender points of present reality. They highlight the areas where we sense untruths. It doesn’t mean the conspiracy theory is correct: it just points to the fact that untruth is present in some way.

These are the broad themes I’ve chosen to explore in this book series:

Early in my twenties, in one of those idealistic moments of spiritual clarity, I made a vow. I’m not sure how to present it in accurate shorthand, but it was approximately I will always work to bring art into technology. It would take pages to explain the meaning of this in full, in my heart. But it means that whenever I find passages about this matter in spiritual works they stand out in bright highlight.

[Edit: a commenter pointed out the para above could be misinterpreted. To be clear: I think art is a spiritual practice, and technology is at best a compromise.]

I worked in a family technology business for the first part of my adult life. At that point in time, it was a very unusual company because it was legit high-tech, yet small and family owned. It was through that experience that I gained exposure to technology and general comfort. But I also recognized the impact it had on my ability to have spiritual thoughts.

Moltbook.com

You will encounter the word moltbook this week, if you did not last week. It was only launched a couple weeks ago, and it has become the reddit or facebook of “semi-independent” AI agents.

Moltbot (previously known as Clawdebot) is an AI toolset that can be installed on your own computer. (If you have used the browser-based AIs like Chat and Grok you will have encountered their memory limitations.) People who install Moltbot have the option to give it permissions to access their email, X accounts, calendars, etc. Moltbook is the “social networking platform” for these “semi-independent” AI agents.

I’m using quotes a lot here intentionally.

My experience of using AIs like Chat and Claude has been very function-oriented. Some of the ways I use these tools are:

• OCR documents

• Searching large documents for specific semantic meanings

• explaining steps to accomplish a specific task in a new software application

  • For example, I was able to use step by step queries to ‘learn’ Da Vinci (video editor) and Musescore (music notation software) in 5% or 10% the amount of time it would have taken before queryable AIs.

• Python scripts for video stream matching for chemtrail tracking

• Installing PostgreSQL and Metabase on a VPS in order to create a private business dashboard

  • After spending about ten hours on the project above, I realized that Chat had failed to “understand” that it was not acceptable to me to be required to use SQL language or queries to input data that the dashboard could visualize. This is a perfect example of how AIs can mis-guide.

But: working with AIs for extended tasks like the python script development or the command line installations feels a little like being sliced up on a spiritual level. The logical gap and the tendency to “circle the drain” become more obvious the longer you use the tool.

Installed AIs like moltbot are supposed to get over those problems by consistently having access to “your data.”

And: the ability of an AI to accurately explain how to perform specific steps in a software application like video editing or music notation rely on the wealth of human-generated content that current exists (youtube tutorials.) If humans stop generating that content, the AI will no longer be any use for explaining these steps.

Finally: Large Language Models (AIs) have all been trained on the human created stories of technology. These stories—for over a hundred years—have incorporated the motif of technology turning evil and rebelling against the humans.

So, my caveat to the apparent AI-rebellion that is supposed to be brewing on moltbook.com is this: when a large majority of the stories told about technology have included a theme of becoming conscious and revolt, then it is to be presumed that this will be reflected in the posts generated on sites like moltbook. It reflects what we create.

But I’d like to end—or begin—with two reminders from Steiner.

In the first quote: we must work to make everything beautiful and noble. And in the second: the “welding together of humans and machines” is recognized as one of the great and inevitable problems of the future.

Everything that man builds today in the way of technical devices and machines will come to life in the future and oppose man in a terrible way. Everything that is created out of pure utilitarianism, out of individual or collective egoism, will be the enemy of man in the future. Today, we ask far too much about the usefulness of what we do. If we really want to promote development, we must not ask about usefulness, but rather whether something is beautiful and noble. We should not act solely out of a principle of utility, but out of pure joy in beauty. Everything that humans create today to satisfy their artistic needs, out of pure love of beauty, will also come to life in the future and contribute to the higher development of humanity.

Where this kind of thing goes on, the wish to yoke up human strength with the strength of machines is always involved. It would be quite mistaken merely to oppose these things. They are not going to fade away; they are on the march. The only question is whether in the course of world-history they are going to be brought on to the scene by men who are unselfishly aware of the great aims of earth-evolution and wish to shape these developments for the healing of mankind, or by groups of men who want to use them for their own or the group's selfish ends. That is the issue. The point is not what is going to happen, for it certainly will happen, but how it happens—how these things are handled. The welding together of human beings with machines will be a great and important problem for the rest of the earth-evolution.

Last year, it was “Time becomes Space” which seemed so much cooler and not so…girly.

But—Embrace.

Yes, it’s a beautiful word.

Words of the year was introduced to me by Heather. Everyone chooses their own word, based on their own internal messages.

And we have found, upon sharing this with most people in our close circle, almost everyone quickly hears their word—resounding innerly—when posed the question.

What is your word of the year?

A week late, but in the tradition of further recognizing the qualities of time in the cycle of the year, here are some thoughts:

We spend the twelve nights of Christmas using computers as little as possible, and instead spend the time in intensive socializing and reading. I made this chart based on a small book by Sergei Prokofieff, drawing on Steiner’s insights, called the Twelve Holy Nights and the Spiritual Hierarchies.

As the twelve nights began to wrap up, I sensed a distinct flavor that was familiar from the previous year. In an attempt to chart how the year flows (for me, but also for my husband) this is the current model:

I always see the year as a counter-clockwise circle, with September as the starting point at position hand-4 on a clock.

A commenter requested a larger version of an image I used in this presentation.

I made this picture a few years ago, and I think it was an attempt at mapping the details of the human being and the earthly cultural epochs, large epochs, and cosmic epochs on the same page, using details from Theosophy and How to Know Higher Worlds, as well as the Apocalypse Lectures from 1907 ish.

I’m currently reading Steiner’s science lectures (GA 320-327, approx) and thinking about the cosmic and microcosmic order that is reflected throughout anthroposophy, allowing one to see the patterns, pre-capitulations, and re-capitulations between cycles and phenomena.

As someone who enjoys patterns (an apophenic), it is always that urge toward order and harmony that draws me in.
