On Friday, everything sold at once. Bonds, equities, gold, commodities — all down together while the dollar rallied. That combination doesn’t happen for a normal reason, and it’s telling you something important about how institutions feel heading into September.

This week I want to walk you through the two mechanisms driving all this volatility, why Friday’s price action was a genuine red flag, and how to actually change your trading to fit the market you’re in. Let’s get into it.

The surface looks like a normal pullback. Underneath, the order flow is telling a much more specific story.

The First Mechanism: There’s No Institutional Backstop

Before anything else, you need to understand where the big money actually is right now — because it explains almost everything.

Looking at institutional versus retail order flow, institutions are almost entirely out of the market. Washed out. Not buying. Retail, meanwhile, is still flush and heavily positioned. That disparity is the single most important thing to understand about this environment.

Here’s why it matters: retail always sells faster than institutions buy. Always. When there’s no institutional bid sitting underneath the market, every rally gets sold into and every dip has no floor to catch it.

This is exactly why $NVDA gave back its entire post-earnings move on the market open — not after hours, on the open. It’s why ripped on genuinely strong earnings and then round-tripped the whole move in a single session. There’s nothing underneath these names catching them.

When institutions aren’t in the market, good news doesn’t hold. The best possible catalyst gets sold for liquidity — because there’s no one there to buy the dip.

The Second Mechanism: Retail Is Loaded on Margin

This is the part that makes the volatility worse, and it’s not getting enough attention.

There are three ways to look at margin. The net number is useless — it rises as the market cap rises. Margin as a percentage of market cap isn’t much better. But margin debt growth rate — the month-over-month percentage change — tells you something real. And right now, that growth rate is at levels only seen at the great financial crisis and during COVID.

Critically, this is mostly retail margin, not institutional. So you have a situation where retail is heavily levered, paying real interest (it’s not zero anymore), and sitting on positions with no institutional support beneath them.

What does a levered retail trader do at the first lower low? They get out. Fast. They can’t afford to sit through a drawdown when they’re paying margin interest and there’s no backstop. That’s the fuel behind these violent swings.

This volatility does not calm down until margin debt growth cools off or institutions step back in to backstop the market. Until one of those happens, expect it to get worse before it gets better.

The Jackson Hole Red Flag

Now let’s talk about what actually happened Friday, because it was a genuine red flag — not a yellow one.

After the Jackson Hole speech, rate hike odds for the September 16th meeting jumped to roughly 60% from 35%. The speech itself was, to put it kindly, word salad — musings about hiking trails, different Fed chairs’ walking styles, and open questions about whether AI is a productivity factor that affects inflation. It added confusion rather than clarity, and the market responded by selling nearly everything.

Here’s the part that doesn’t add up in the normal way, and why it’s a red flag: they sold bonds on both the short and long end, they sold equities, AND they sold the commodities and gold that are supposed to hedge inflation.

Think about that. If the Fed chair is signaling higher inflation and rate hike odds spike, the logical move is to hedge your inflation exposure — you buy gold, you hold commodities. Instead, they sold the hedge. You don’t do that because “rates will fix inflation.” You do that when there’s so much uncertainty that you just want out of everything to reassess.

Selling the inflation hedge into an inflation warning is a signal of pure uncertainty. And uncertainty is exactly why institutions aren’t stepping in to provide the backstop the market needs.

📌 Change Your Style — This Is a Non-Trending Market

• Moving averages work in trending markets and chop you up in non-trending ones

• $SPY and $SOXX are both non-trending — that’s why your swings keep getting stopped out

• No quarter given: names take out a lower low and institutions vanish instantly

This isn’t a setup so much as the single most important adjustment to make right now. Tight stops. Short-term trades. Married puts behind long positions. The tools that made you money in the trend are actively hurting you in the chop.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Best News Possible, Sold Anyway

• $NVDA set aside ~$100B for memory commitments — $MU spiked over 980 overnight

• No names benefited more from that news than memory

• Result: faded, sold for liquidity

When names get the best possible news and still get sold, that’s the environment talking, not the fundamentals. $AMAT, $LRCX, $MU — great earnings across the board, all sold for liquidity. Wait for institutions to return before committing size.

📌 $SOXX — Stuck in the Box

• Trapped in roughly the $568 range with the 55-day above as resistance

• Proprietary breadth indicator not giving a clean buy signal yet

• Breadth was getting worse even during the recent rally attempts

This is a non-trending, no-follow-through environment for semis. Need a close above the 55-day to change the picture. Until then, this is a day-trade sector, not a swing sector.

📌 $MRVL — Negative Quarter-Over-Quarter Growth

• Broke a rising wedge and lowered quarterly guidance

• CFO talking up 2027 and 2028 while guiding the near term down

• Trillion-dollar companies don’t post negative quarter-over-quarter growth

The pattern here is classic — guide the quarter down, talk up the out-years, miss again next quarter, then take down the year. I shorted this and covered early because of Jackson Hole, but the setup remains weak.

📌 Software / $CRM — Best-Looking Sector, But Be Careful

• Software still the strongest group technically

• $CRWD gave back gains from great earnings Friday

• The question isn’t whether it looks good — it’s whether you can survive the next down bar

Software is the cleanest-looking area, but in a no-backstop environment even the best sector gets whipsawed. If you’re going to trade $CRM here, your stops have to be tight and you have to respect how fast these reverse.

What I’m Watching This Week

Rate Hike Odds Into September 16

• Now at 60%. Watch how this shifts with incoming data. A confirmed hike keeps pressure on tech.

$SOXX — The $568 Box

• Need a close above the 55-day to change anything. Until then, expect continued chop and no follow-through.

Margin Debt Growth

• This is the single biggest tell for when the volatility actually calms down. Watch for the growth rate to cool.

Commodities / Gold

• Did Friday break the commodity trend or just shake it out? Watch how gold reacts early in the week — a fast recovery says shakeout, continued selling says the trend broke.

The Bottom Line

Two mechanisms are driving everything right now. There’s no institutional backstop — the big money is out, and retail sells faster than institutions buy. And retail is levered to the hilt at margin growth rates only seen at the GFC and COVID, which means they bail fast at the first lower low.

Layer on top of that a Jackson Hole speech that spooked institutions into selling their inflation hedge during an inflation warning, and you get exactly what we saw Friday — everything down at once, no floor, no follow-through.

This volatility gets worse before it gets better. The winning move isn’t to fight it or predict the bottom — it’s to adapt. Tight stops, shorter timeframes, protection behind your positions, and the patience to wait for institutions to come back.

Adapt or get chopped up. That’s the whole game right now.

Meanwhile the Bloomberg Commodity Index just broke out to all-time highs. Biotech is setting up to do the same. And almost nobody is positioned for either.

The Commodity Trade Is Bigger Than Gold and Silver

Most people hear “commodities” and think gold, maybe silver. That’s a mistake right now.

The Bloomberg Commodity Index just broke out to all-time highs, and it’s a broad basket — energy, metals, agriculture, and more. When the whole index breaks out simultaneously, that tells you something structural is happening with inflation expectations, not just a single-metal story.

I’ve been using Bitcoin and $ETH as commodity proxies in this context too. A lot of institutional money treats crypto as an inflation hedge alongside traditional commodities, regardless of the “Clarity Act” headlines everyone’s been focused on. The directional movement on $ETH right now is showing a genuine trend, not just noise — and historically, when you see readings this strong, the asset tends to consolidate and push higher rather than reverse.

Here’s how I’d actually play the broader commodity theme instead of just buying gold:

• Copper: $FCX and $TECK breaking out of massive multi-year bases

• Antimony: $ALTM — a name most people aren’t even aware of, critical for chips and munitions, with a plant in South Korea

• Gold-adjacent financials: $EZPW and $FCFS — pawn and lending businesses that benefit directly when gold rises, without the gap risk of trading gold itself

• Agriculture: Corn and wheat both setting up technically, cocoa and sugar (6% of the commodity index) pointing toward names like $HSY

The cleanest commodity trades right now aren’t gold and silver themselves — it’s the companies that profit when the whole commodity complex moves, without the overnight gap risk.

One nuance worth flagging: DRAM is behaving like a genuine commodity right now, and it’s outperforming NAND flash for a simple reason — DRAM is harder to source. If you pair $MU against $SNDK, that spread has been moving almost in lockstep with gold’s recent lift. Institutions appear to be treating DRAM as a commodity hedge, which isn’t obvious because the broader semiconductor sector still looks heavy on the surface.

Why Semiconductors Still Can’t Lead

I want to be direct about this because I think people are still waiting for a leadership handoff that hasn’t happened yet.

$SOXX has tried to clear its 55-day moving average multiple times over the past several weeks and failed every time. The pattern has been consistent and not encouraging: a breakout on decent volume, followed immediately by three days of selling that erases the move. That is not how healthy bottoms typically form. Bottoms tend to look like a green day followed by quiet consolidation — buyers stepping in and holding. What we’re seeing instead is repeated rejection.

On the weekly chart, the picture is similarly messy. We’ve had two separate island gap reversals stacked on top of each other, each one lower than the last. That’s not the setup you want to see if you’re trying to build a bullish case for semis in the near term.

$NVDA reports Wednesday, and a lot of people are treating this as the catalyst that fixes everything. Historically, that hasn’t been the pattern. Go back through Nvidia’s last several earnings reports — great numbers, raised guidance, and then the stock gets sold anyway. It happens almost like clockwork. That doesn’t mean this time is guaranteed to play out the same way, but it’s worth having realistic expectations rather than assuming a blowout quarter automatically fixes the sector’s technical picture.

The one thing giving me some optimism on semis specifically: the down bars during recent selling have gotten progressively weaker, which suggests the institutional sellers who wanted out have largely already sold. That’s a small positive, but it’s not the same as an actual bottom being confirmed yet. Watch for a weekly close above the 563 level on $SOXX (tied to the 55-day) as the signal that the picture is actually changing.

The Biotech Rotation Is Real

This is the part of the market I think is genuinely underappreciated right now.

$MRNA broke out hard on strong Phase 3 melanoma data, specifically related to how their mRNA technology performs in combination with Merck’s existing drug. The move isn’t just about melanoma — it’s about what happens if this mechanism generalizes to other cancers and conditions. That reframes the entire investment case from “a leftover COVID vaccine company” to “a platform technology company,” and the market is repricing it in real time.

There’s also a structural mechanical story here worth understanding. The short interest on $MRNA sits at roughly 10 days to cover — meaning if every short wanted out simultaneously, it would take about two weeks of average volume to unwind those positions. Rather than covering directly (which would also apply upward pressure), many shorts have been adding downside exposure through puts instead. But every put purchase forces the market maker who sold that put to hedge their own delta risk by selling more stock or adding short exposure elsewhere — which paradoxically adds more pressure to the stock in the short term, even as the underlying short squeeze setup gets more extreme.

The full data readout is expected in October, and until then, expect continued volatility. But the rotation effect is already spreading — $BNTX, $ARCT, and broader biotech ETFs like $ARKG are all catching sympathy bids as investors look for “the next $MRNA” across the mRNA platform space broadly.

The market isn’t just repricing one drug. It’s repricing an entire mechanism — and every company with similar technology is getting re-examined because of it.

📌 Commodities Broadly — Own the Basket, Not Just Gold

• Bloomberg Commodity Index at all-time highs

• $FCX, $TECK breaking out on copper; $ALTM on antimony

• $EZPW, $FCFS as lower-risk ways to play rising gold without the gap risk

This is one of the cleanest broad-based trends in the market right now and it’s getting far less attention than it deserves. I’d rather own the companies that benefit from the trend than the metals themselves.

📌 $MU vs $SNDK — The DRAM Commodity Pair Trade

• DRAM outperforming flash because it’s genuinely harder to source

• Spread has moved roughly in lockstep with gold’s recent rally

• Hidden inside a semiconductor sector that looks weak on the surface

This pair trade is working precisely because most people are lumping all memory together and missing the divergence.

📌 $SOXX — Wait for Confirmation, Not the Story

• Repeated failure to clear the 55-day, worst weekly close in weeks

• $NVDA earnings Wednesday — historically a sell-the-news event even on great numbers

• Weekly close above 563 needed to change the technical picture

I’m not chasing this into earnings. The pattern says wait for actual confirmation rather than assuming Nvidia’s print single-handedly fixes the sector.

📌 $MRNA and the mRNA Complex — Volatile but Real

• 10 days to cover on the short — genuine squeeze mechanics still in play

• Full Phase 3 data expected in October

• Sympathy plays in $BNTX, $ARCT, $ARKG worth watching for continued rotation

This is a name where I’m trading the volatility rather than making a single directional bet — the mechanism is real, but the next few months will be choppy until the full data lands.

📌 $PLTR — Flag Forming After a Blowout Quarter

• Net income tripled year over year

• Large call wall at $180 largely cleared through Friday’s options expiration

• Watch how it trades early this week now that opex pressure is gone

Individual software names can still work even while the broader tech index looks heavy. This is a stock-picker’s environment right now, not an index-riding one.

• Watch for continued sympathy moves in $BNTX and $ARCT as the market searches for the next name with similar platform technology.

The Bottom Line

Semiconductors are heavy. The technical picture on $SOXX has been unable to clear resistance for weeks, and stacked island gap reversals on the weekly chart aren’t the setup you want if you’re betting on an imminent breakout.

Meanwhile, commodities broadly are breaking to all-time highs, and biotech is setting up to do the same on the back of a genuine technological repricing in the mRNA space.

The lesson here isn’t “sell semis, buy biotech and commodities” as a permanent stance — it’s that leadership rotates, and clinging to what worked six months ago because it’s familiar is exactly how traders miss the next move. Trade what’s actually happening in front of you, not what you wish was happening.

The index is telling you a clear story. Most people are refusing to listen to it.

Trade What’s Happening, Not What You Think Should Happen

Let me start with the framework because I think it’s the most valuable thing in this entire post.

$SPY closed a flag and broke out of it. Not an opinion — a fact you can look at on any chart. It’s currently only 2.4% off its highs. If your thesis is that this comes back down, your actual thesis has to be that earnings cannot sustain themselves. There is zero evidence of that right now. Semiconductor earnings growth is the strongest I have seen in 27 years of trading.

Compare this to 1998-2000. The 30-year yield ran from roughly 4.85% to 6.7% during that stretch — the single greatest bond market move in modern history — and the equity market still ripped through it because the growth story was that strong. We’re sitting at 5.26% right now. Historically, that alone does not kill a rally with real earnings behind it.

You have more growth in this market and in semiconductors right now than any time in 27 years of trading. To think you can’t sustain an equity rally with a 5.26% yield is simply not looking at history.

Here’s the part that matters most: when the data disagrees with your narrative, the data wins. Michael Burry covered his semiconductor short and flipped to a NASDAQ short instead. From a technical standpoint, that’s late. It doesn’t mean he’s wrong on timing over a longer horizon — but “eventually” and “now” are two completely different trades. When is everything in this business.

The Breadth Signal Almost Nobody Is Talking About

I run a proprietary breadth indicator on the semiconductor sector that I built specifically to strip out noise and give me a clean 0-100 read on internal sector strength.

It just fired a buy signal.

This is not a common occurrence. Going back through the data, this indicator has only triggered at genuinely extreme levels a handful of times: August 2024, right before the “winning and liberation” rally, and now. That’s it. Three times.

Extreme readings like this — where the sector has been beaten down to a level rarely seen — have historically marked the end of selling pressure, not the beginning of further declines. It doesn’t fix an existing downtrend overnight and it doesn’t tell you which individual names to buy. But it tells you where you are in the broader cycle.

And this is confirmed by broader market breadth too. $IBB is at all-time highs. Financials are at all-time highs. Even defensive sectors like $XLP and $XLV are at highs. When literally every sector is participating simultaneously, that is broad-based strength — not a market on the verge of collapse.

When you get extreme readings like this, you have to listen to them even when they conflict with the narrative everyone else is repeating on social media.

$SNDK — A Complete Technical and Fundamental Teardown

I want to use $SNDK this week to show you exactly how I tear a stock apart, because it’s the question I get asked most often: how do you actually combine technical and fundamental analysis into one process?

The technical setup:

The pattern has become clear over the last several quarters — the stock gaps down on earnings, that gap becomes the low, and the stock proceeds to run significantly higher from there. People call the top every single time this happens, and every single time they’ve been wrong so far.

Right now we have a bearish 12/22 cross transitioning into a bullish one. Call and put walls both moved up roughly 30% in a matter of days — when you see market makers move their walls that aggressively, it tells you they’re no longer worried about downside protection from current levels. The stock also closed above peak VWAP on Friday, which matters because peak VWAP marks the price where the most people are sitting in pain. Once you close above that level and hold, it stops being resistance.

The fundamental case:

This is where it gets genuinely interesting. On their most recent investor day, management laid out guidance for 80% gross margins sustained through 2028-2030. For context, semiconductor gross margins typically run 50-60%. This is software-company-level margin guidance for a memory business.

They’ve signed contracts covering 50% of 2027 bit volume and two-thirds of 2028 bit volume already. That is the entire deceleration argument dismantled in one sentence — you cannot call a business cyclical when it has structured, binding contracts locked in two and three years out.

Total addressable market goes from roughly $300 billion in 2026 to $500 billion in 2027, and they are now actively building out capacity. Just two quarters ago, this same management team said they were holding off on major buildout because they didn’t have visibility into demand. That’s the tell — they are more confident now than at any point recently, not less.

On top of that: 100% of excess free cash flow is going toward buybacks, with $15 billion remaining on the current authorization. Anyone shorting this stock is competing directly against a company actively buying its own shares in the open market with a massive cash pile.

16 different firms raised price targets or issued new positive commentary within a 24-hour window. Price target range is now $1,400 to $3,600.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $SNDK — The Setup With the Most Conviction

• 16 firms raised targets in 24 hours, range now $1,400-$3,600

• 80% gross margins guided through 2028-2030, contracts locked through 2028

• 100% of excess free cash flow going to buybacks with $15B remaining

This is the cleanest combination of technical confirmation and fundamental acceleration I’ve seen in a while. I’m watching for the 12/22 cross to confirm and then watching peak VWAP resistance around $1,814 as the next level to clear.

📌 $MU — Following the Same Playbook

• Closed back above the 55-day for the first time

• 1222 cross confirming, put wall moved up significantly

• Closed above peak VWAP Friday — identical setup to $SNDK

Inverse head and shoulders with a broken neckline. Same technical framework as $SNDK, same conclusion. RSI positioning suggests a gap fill target near $1,100.

📌 $SOXX — Buy Signal Confirmed, Don’t Fight It

• Proprietary breadth indicator fired — only the 3rd time in years

• Extreme oversold readings historically mark bottoms, not further declines

• 12/22 cross confirming on the upside index-wide

You don’t have to agree with every semiconductor name individually, but fighting a signal this rare has historically been a losing proposition. The framework says trade what’s happening, not what the narrative says should happen.

📌 $GOOG — Watch the 13Fs

• Berkshire added significantly to their position

• Third Point also added meaningfully

• Two very different investment styles arriving at the same conclusion

When value-oriented, long-horizon investors like Berkshire and event-driven funds like Third Point are both buying the same name, that’s worth paying attention to regardless of your own timeframe.

📌 Broad Market Breadth — No Weak Link to Point To

• $IBB, financials, $XLK, $XLC all reclaiming or holding highs

• Even defensive sectors participating — not a rotation story, a broad strength story

• AI efficiency gains showing up in margins across multiple sectors, not just tech

When someone asks “where’s the crash going to come from,” the honest answer right now is: there isn’t an obvious weak link. That doesn’t mean nothing can change it — it means the burden of proof is on the bear case, not the bull case.

• US intervention has stopped the recent bleed. Monitor, don’t panic. This isn’t behaving the same way it did during the 2024 carry trade unwind.

• Continue watching institutional positioning in $GOOG and other mega caps for clues on where smart money is actually allocating versus what the headlines suggest.

Every outlet covered the SpaceX lockup. Every trader knew shares were about to flood the market. Everyone was positioned the same way, on the same side, buying the same puts.

And that’s exactly why it didn’t play out the way everyone expected.

This week I want to walk you through the framework I use to find these disparities — the gap between what everyone expects and what actually happens — because it’s the same framework that’s pointing me toward the new leaders emerging right now. Let’s get into it.

The index looks constructive. Underneath it, new leadership is forming — and most people are looking for it in the wrong places.

The Framework: Expected Outcome vs. Actual Outcome

Let me walk through the SpaceX trade in detail because I think it’s the cleanest example of a framework you can use over and over again.

Before the lockup, SpaceX was trading around 71 million shares a day on average. The lockup released ~900 million shares onto the market — a genuinely enormous supply event. Every financial outlet covered it. Every trader I know was aware of it. The expected outcome was universal: this crashes.

Here’s the question that actually matters: how many people were on that side of the trade? Because when virtually everyone expects the same outcome, they’ve already positioned for it. The puts are already bought. The hedges are already on. There’s no one left to sell.

We bought at the open. Not because of a technical setup — because of the mechanics of positioning. When puts that were bought to hedge this lockup start getting unwound, the market makers who sold those puts have to hedge their own delta risk — which means buying stock or calls in the open market. That’s a structural buying mechanism that has nothing to do with sentiment.

This is the framework behind almost everything I trade on the longer side: what does everyone already know, and what happens when that consensus doesn’t play out the way the crowd expects? That gap is where the actual edge lives.

The same framework applies to $PLTR right now. The stock crushed earnings — net income tripled year over year — and pulled back anyway because people are trading it based on what it was two years ago, not what it is today. Almost nobody is pricing in the actual acceleration happening in the business.

Not All Memory Is the Same Memory

I want to spend real time on this because I think it’s one of the most underappreciated dynamics in the market right now.

$MU and $SNDK get lumped together as “memory names.” They are not the same trade.

Since DRAM’s IPO, $MU is up 132%. $SNDK is down 67%. DRAM pricing is up 73% over that same window. NAND spot pricing — SanDisk’s core business — just turned negative quarter over quarter for the first time.

Technically, the divergence is just as clean. $MU is holding its 55-day moving average. $SNDK has a declining 55-day. Objectively, technically, $SNDK is the weaker chart.

This isn’t a call that memory as a category is broken. It’s a call that DRAM and NAND are behaving completely differently right now, and treating them as interchangeable is costing people money. Long $MU / short $SNDK has realized roughly 33% as a pair trade since March 30th.

The people who are aware of this NAND-versus-DRAM divergence are still a small minority. That’s exactly the kind of information asymmetry worth paying attention to.

📌 $IGV — The New Leader Nobody Wants to Admit

• Up 34% relative to $SOXX since June 30th

• Formed an “abandoned baby” reversal pattern — gapped down, isolated candle, then exploded higher

• $MSFT quietly grinding to new highs while almost nobody discusses it

Software might be the sector nobody is positioned for. When a group this unloved reverses this violently off a rare technical pattern, that’s worth respecting, not fading.

📌 $MU vs $SNDK — The Pair Trade Still Working

• $MU holding its 55-day, $SNDK’s 55-day pointing down

• DRAM pricing continuing to grind higher while NAND spot pricing softens

• Long $MU / short $SNDK realized roughly 33% since March 30th

This divergence is not fully priced in yet. Watch NAND spot pricing weekly — if it stabilizes, the pair trade thesis weakens. Right now it’s still deteriorating.

📌 $PLTR — Earnings Acceleration Most People Are Ignoring

• Net income tripled year-over-year

• Stock pulled back post-earnings and is now ripping back toward highs

• Anyone shorting this today based on the company from a year ago is trading a completely different business

The revenue and earnings acceleration here is real and substantial. The disparity between what the business is doing and what the crowd believes it’s doing is exactly the kind of setup this framework is built to catch.

📌 Home Construction / $XHB — Not a Recessionary Chart

• Clean inverse head and shoulders forming

• Held through a weak jobs report without making a meaningful new low

• Lower rates read through directly to $HD, $LOW — the “honeydew list” names

Everyone keeps talking recession. This chart does not agree. If the neckline confirms, this is a clean long setup heading into a lower-rate environment.

📌 $XBI / Biotech — Setting Up to Take Out Highs

• Biotech broadly crushing it, $AMGN broke out of a multi-decade base

• Long biotech, short a weaker name in the space as a pair trade — working well

• Technically setting up to take out prior highs

Every pullback produces new leadership. Biotech is emerging as one of the clearer candidates and most people are still anchored to the names that led the last cycle.

What I’m Watching This Week

$RKLB Earnings — Monday

• Crushed last quarter. Watch the under-55/12-22 moving average cross setup — historically a strong signal when it triggers viciously to the upside.

NAND Spot Pricing

• The $MU vs $SNDK divergence hinges on this continuing to soften. Watch it weekly.

$SOXX Breadth Indicator

• Sitting at extreme levels historically associated with bottoming zones. Not confirmed yet — watch for the reversal signal.

Home Construction Neckline

• If this inverse head and shoulders confirms, it’s a clean signal the recession narrative is overstated.

The Bottom Line

Everybody being positioned the same way isn’t a reason to follow the crowd — it’s usually the reason not to. The SpaceX lockup unwound in the opposite direction of consensus because consensus had already fully priced in the expected outcome, leaving no one left to sell.

That same framework is pointing toward real opportunities right now: the NAND-versus-DRAM divergence in memory, the earnings acceleration in $PLTR that the crowd hasn’t caught up to, and new leadership forming in software and biotech while everyone stays anchored to last cycle’s winners.

Find the gap between what everyone expects and what’s actually happening. That gap is where the edge lives.

Meanwhile momentum is down 41% from its highs. That is a great financial crisis level move. And the $VIX is sitting at 16.

That disconnect is what this entire week comes down to. Let’s get into it.

• $MSFT up 25% since July 1st — told the market they are not increasing capex

• $AMZN up 14% — AWS numbers staggering, CEO framed the cash flow story correctly

• $STX crushed earnings and is building a new base

• $LRCX crushed and guided higher — memory exposure paying off

The index looks calm. Momentum is in a full-blown crisis. Both things are true at the same time.

The Real Story: It Wasn’t the Numbers, It Was the Framing

I want to spend time on this because I think it’s the single most useful thing you can take from last week.

Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta all reported. All three are spending enormous amounts on AI infrastructure. All three have the same fundamental question hanging over them: when does this spending turn into returns?

Three completely different answers. Three completely different stock reactions.

Microsoft said they are not increasing capex. They also said they can use their existing infrastructure longer. And critically — Azure growth is actually accelerating, not decelerating. So the market looked at that and said: you made the investment, you’re not spending more, and the growth is speeding up. That is exactly what institutions want to hear. The stock is up 25% since July 1st.

Amazon went free cash flow negative — and the CEO explained why. He framed it as going negative in order to optimize free cash flow. There is a path. There is an end state. The AWS numbers beat every single metric on net sales and operating income. The market heard a plan.

Google, two weeks ago, said “this is the second or third inning, get used to it.” No end date. No path. Just spend indefinitely.

Meta said nothing that mattered — because their numbers said it for them.

Same fundamental situation. Same negative free cash flow. Completely different framing. The market rewarded the ones with a path and punished the ones without one.

This is why I keep telling people to listen to the conference calls. Not the headline EPS. Not the revenue beat. The language around spending and the path to returns.

The Meta Numbers Nobody Is Discussing

Let me show you something specific, because I think this explains the entire Meta reaction and almost nobody is talking about it.

Pull up Meta’s own investor slides — they’re publicly available on their website, no proprietary data required.

Look at ad impressions delivered on a year-over-year percentage basis. Not total impressions. The growth rate of impresions.

It is flatlining in every single region, including the US, which is their largest market.

They have spent staggering amounts on capex. Net income is declining. And the growth rate of the thing that actually generates their revenue has stopped increasing.

That is not a sentiment problem. That is not a multiple compression problem. That is a fundamental problem. Whatever they are doing with all that spend, it is not translating into the core business.

That’s why the stock gave back every dollar of July’s gains in one session.

The Momentum Situation Is Historic

Here is the context I think most people are missing entirely.

Momentum — as a factor, unconstrained — is down 41% from its highs. The last two times you saw a drawdown like that were COVID and the great financial crisis.

Momentum volatility is also at great financial crisis levels.

And the $VIX is at 16.

Sit with that for a second. The broad market is showing almost no fear. But the momentum trade specifically has experienced one of the fastest and deepest drawdowns in the history of the factor.

That kind of extreme move usually produces at minimum an equal and opposite oversold bounce. The question is whether what we saw Thursday was the beginning of that — or whether it was a reflexive bounce with no follow-through.

Right now I’m leaning toward oversold bounce, not bottom. Here’s why: there was no follow-through day. $QQQ couldn’t even get through its 12-day. The RSI stopped dead at the 50 line on the 4-hour and rejected. You should have gotten a second day of momentum confirmation and you didn’t get it.

That doesn’t mean a bottom isn’t forming. It means it isn’t confirmed yet.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $SNDK — The Most Important Earnings of the Week

• Rejected $1390 hard — that level has been a battleground for weeks

• NAND spot pricing has peaked while DRAM pricing has not — this nuance matters enormously

• Goldman’s estimates are running roughly 30% above what the company itself has guided

This is the setup that concerns me most. Look at what happened to Kioxia — they beat the guidance they themselves gave, but missed the street’s inflated estimates, and the stock got destroyed. Down 65% from its highs while doing exactly what it said it would do.

$SNDK could beat their own guidance and still get crushed if analysts got over their skis. And if there’s any ASP or gross margin issue, this thing goes to $800 and drags the entire memory complex with it.

📌 $WDC — Watching the Base Structure

• Forming the same base structure as $STX, which crushed and bounced off a key level

• Tried to reclaim the 55-day on Friday and failed

• $WDC and $STX effectively share the same brain — and $WDC typically outperforms

The $STX result was genuinely strong and the base is forming cleanly. If $WDC follows the same path, this is one of the better setups in the space. But it likely trades off whatever $SNDK does first.

📌 $LRCX vs $KLAC — Follow the Memory Exposure

• $LRCX crushed and guided higher — 39% of revenue tied directly to memory

• $KLAC came in line and guided to the low end — broad-based semicap exposure

• Same sector, same week, completely divergent reactions

Everyone expected a massive broad semicap buildout after Intel’s $20B announcement. It’s not showing up in $KLAC’s guidance. The growth is concentrated in memory and storage. Not broad semiconductors. Position accordingly.

📌 $MSFT / $AMZN — The Quality Trade Is Working

• $MSFT up 25% since July 1st on the no-capex-increase message

• $AMZN up 14% with AWS metrics beating across the board

• Mag 7 setting up again — but needs to reclaim the 55-day to confirm

There is a clear tale of two tapes right now. Large cap tech with disciplined spending and accelerating growth is being bought. Everything else is being sold. This is where institutions are hiding and it’s working.

📌 $EWY / $SKHY — The Sunday Night Setup

• $SKHY got right to its IPO VWAP and completely imploded — average buyer is still underwater and still selling

• $EWY exploded one day, Asia followed, then immediately rolled over

• Korea has been leading the $SOXX almost tick for tick

$EWY is already rejecting and Korea has to digest whatever happens in our market Wednesday night. Watch this Sunday night before you do anything Monday — it has been the leading indicator for semis for weeks.

What I’m Watching This Week

$SNDK Earnings

• The single most important print of the week. Watch ASP commentary and gross margin guidance more than the headline beat. A beat that misses inflated street estimates is still a sell.

Momentum Follow-Through

• Thursday’s bounce needs confirmation. Zero follow-through so far. If $QQQ can’t reclaim the 12-day and hold, this was an oversold bounce, not a bottom.

30-Year Yield

• Breaking out to great financial crisis levels. The long end is what matters for corporate borrowing costs. This is the macro pressure sitting underneath everything.

Thursday’s Closing Levels

• For any name you’re trading in this space, Thursday’s close is your demarcation line. If a name can’t get above it, stay away. This applies to $SNDK, $NBIS, $BE, and dozens of others.

The Bottom Line

Three hyperscalers reported and the market gave you a clear answer about what it wants: disciplined spending with a visible path to returns. Microsoft and Amazon delivered that. Meta and Google did not.

Momentum is down 41% — a great financial crisis level drawdown — while the $VIX sits at 16. That disconnect tells you this is a factor unwind, not a market crash. Financials are breaking out to all-time highs. Markets do not break down like that.

But Thursday’s bounce had no follow-through. The 12-day rejected. The 4-hour RSI stopped dead at 50. That is an oversold bounce, not a confirmed bottom.

$SNDK reports this week and it will set the tone for the entire memory complex. If analysts got over their skis the way they did with Kioxia, a great quarter still gets sold.

Patience over everything. Let this confirm before you commit size.

Here’s the answer: it depends entirely on what $MSFT, $META, and $AMZN say on their conference calls this week. And I mean specifically one number — capex guidance.

But before we get there, you need to understand the two mechanisms that are actually driving this selloff. Because if you understand them, the entire picture becomes clear. And if you don’t, you’re going to keep getting run over trying to catch a bottom that isn’t ready yet.

The index is telling you one story. The two mechanisms underneath it are telling you a much more important one.

The Two Mechanisms Nobody Is Connecting

Let me walk through both of these carefully because I think most people are looking at individual stocks and headlines when the real story is structural.

Mechanism 1: The Inflow/Outflow Problem

Every major hedge fund owns roughly the same names. Nvidia. Amazon. Google. Microsoft. The top semiconductor names. They all piled in together during the AI boom — and now they’re all underperforming the $SPY simultaneously.

Here is the math that matters: $SPY is down roughly 2.7%. The top 20 hedge fund holdings are down roughly 10%. That is an enormous gap. And because these funds are judged against their benchmark, they are not just losing money — they are losing to an index fund. That is career risk.

So what do they do? They start getting out. And because they all own the same names, they all get out of the same names at the same time.

If you owned the NASDAQ versus the $SPY from June 30th through now, you have already given up roughly 6% in relative underperformance in a single month. That is not a blip. That is a crowded trade unwinding.

This is not about earnings. It is not about fundamentals. It is about too many people in the same names getting out at the same time. That is mechanism one.

How does it end? It ends when the $SPY starts falling alongside everything else and cash comes off the sidelines. Not before.

Mechanism 2: Negative Free Cash Flow Meets Rising Yields

This is the one that matters more. And this is the one that has historical precedent.

Google just went free cash flow negative for the first time in roughly 10 years. They guided to keep spending. The minute that number crossed the tape on the conference call, the stock went straight down.

At the same time, the 10-year yield is up 8% in less than a month — back to multi-year highs. Crude oil is driving this. Two-thirds of GDP is connected to crude one way or another and when crude pushes higher, inflation expectations rise, yields rise, and the cost to borrow for every company carrying debt goes up immediately.

Here is where it gets important: every hyperscaler is now carrying enormous debt loads to fund their AI buildout. Google. Meta. Microsoft. Amazon. Oracle. They are all borrowing to spend. And as yields rise, the interest payments on that debt become more expensive — which makes it harder to service, which raises their CDS spreads, which raises the cost of new borrowing, which makes the next bond issuance more expensive.

This is exactly the mechanism that ended dot-com. Not the lack of earnings — though that was catastrophic. It was the moment that the market decided it no longer wanted to fund the secondaries and bond issuances. When people stopped showing up to buy the debt, the whole thing unwound.

The difference now is these companies have real earnings and real cash flow. They can stop spending at any time and become cash cows again. But until they do, every new bond issuance and secondary dilutes the stock and raises the cost of capital. That is mechanism two.

Why Google’s Earnings Reaction Tells You Everything

Google absolutely crushed. They were supposed to report around $260 in EPS and dramatically exceeded it. Revenue was massive. AWS and cloud equivalents growing fast.

And the stock sold off immediately.

Why? Because on the conference call, they said capex is going higher. Not flat. Higher. And they said — almost verbatim — “we are just beginning.”

That single phrase sent the stock down hard. Because pension funds, life insurance companies, and institutional investors who need free cash flow to justify ownership heard it and immediately started selling. They do not want to own a company that is voluntarily going free cash flow negative with no end date in sight.

This is not a Google-specific problem. This is the template for every hyperscaler reporting this week.

If $MSFT, $META, or $AMZN cut capex or hold it flat — the stocks rip, CDS spreads drop, cost to borrow drops, and the mechanism starts to reverse. If they raise capex — more selling, more negative free cash flow pressure, more yield sensitivity.

After what Google just did, the probability of a capex cut is slim. But it is the number to watch.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $MSFT / $META / $AMZN — Conference Calls Are Everything

• Capex guidance is the single most important number across all three reports

• If any of them cut or hold flat → stock rips, CDS spreads compress, cost to borrow drops

• After Google’s reaction, market is pricing in more increases — any surprise to the downside on spend is explosive to the upside

Do not focus on EPS. Do not focus on revenue. Focus on capex guidance and the language around whether they see it accelerating. That one number determines the next 3 months for tech.

📌 $SOXX — The One Divergence Worth Watching

• $SOXX did not hit a new low while $QQQ did — this divergence is meaningful

• Watch the 50% line on $SOXX — holding it is the first sign of a real bottom forming

• Same setup as April 2025 — semis can bottom before the NASDAQ

Semis bottomed before the broader NASDAQ in 2025 and led the recovery. The setup is similar now. If $SOXX holds here and starts to build, that is your first signal that the worst is behind us. If it breaks to new lows, we have more work to do.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Good News Not Working Is a Warning Sign

• $LRCX and $KAC lost their 55-days on good news — macro overriding fundamentals

• Intel announced $20B in buildout — stock dropped because the market asked “where does that $20B come from?”

• DRAM pricing still the only true leading indicator — watch it daily

When good news stops working, the macro is in charge. Do not fight that environment with swing trades. Wait for the macro to stabilize — specifically yields and capex guidance — before re-entering with size.

📌 The Fed Meeting — Rate Hike Risk Is Real

• 10-year yield up 8% in less than a month driven by crude oil and inflation expectations

• If the Fed raises rates, tech takes another leg lower immediately

• If they hold and signal cuts are coming — yields drop, cost to borrow drops, CDS spreads compress

The Fed meeting this week is binary for tech. Watch the 10-year yield response in the minutes after the statement. That is your real-time signal on what institutions think just happened.

📌 $XLF / $KRE — The One Sector Starting to Work

• Financials and regional banks both starting to lift

• Rising yields are actually good for bank net interest margins

• If yields stabilize here, financials could be one of the cleaner setups into year end

While tech is dealing with the two mechanisms above, financials benefit from higher rates on the NIM side. Not chasing this yet — but watching closely for a clean entry as the broader market stabilizes.

What I’m Watching This Week

$MSFT / $META / $AMZN Conference Calls

• Listen for capex guidance. Listen for language around acceleration or deceleration. Watch how the stock reacts in the first 30 minutes. That reaction is the market telling you whether it believes the story.

Fed Meeting

• Rate hike = another leg lower in tech. Rate hold with dovish language = relief rally. Watch the 10-year yield response, not the headline.

COR1M

• Needs to get back above 8 before the inflow/outflow problem starts to resolve. Still elevated. Not there yet.

DRAM Pricing

Three weeks ago the $SOXX broke its 12-day. Then the 22-day. Now the 55-day just fell.

And while everyone is debating whether to buy the dip, South Korea is about to open Sunday night into a 12% gap down with 400,000 fresh margin calls behind them and new margin requirements that went into effect while their market was closed.

This is not a normal setup heading into a week. Here’s exactly what I’m watching — and why I think the next few weeks are going to be some of the most volatile of the year.

The index looks okay on the surface. Under the hood, the deterioration is accelerating.

The Setup Nobody Is Prepared For — South Korea Sunday Night

Let me start here because I think this is the most important thing to understand before Monday open and almost nobody is talking about it.

South Korea has been acting as a leading indicator for the $SOXX for weeks. The correlation has been almost tick for tick. When Korea breaks, semis follow. When Korea bounces, semis follow. This is not a coincidence — it’s because the same underlying assets drive both markets.

Here is what you are walking into Sunday night.

$SKHY — the largest company on the Korean exchange — is going to open roughly 12% below where Korean investors went to sleep on Thursday night. That alone would be enough to create a volatile open. But it is not the only factor.

While Korean markets were closed for a holiday, two things happened simultaneously. First, there were roughly 400,000 forced margin calls across Korean retail investors — an absolutely staggering number for a single country’s market. Second, the Korean government increased margin requirements during the closure. That means investors who were already getting margin-called are now coming back to a market with tighter requirements and less ability to lever back up.

The $SOXX has been following South Korea as a leading indicator almost tick for tick. What happens Sunday night in Seoul sets the tone for Monday morning in New York. Watch it before you do anything else on Monday.

Google Earnings Wednesday — The Only Number That Matters for Semis

Everything this week flows through one data point: Google’s capex guidance.

Here is the framework. Last quarter Google was supposed to earn $260 in EPS. They came in at $511. An absolute blowout. Their spending breakdown was roughly 60% servers and 40% data centers and networking. The prior capex guide was $175-185 billion — they raised it to $180-190 billion. But here is the nuance most people are missing: the growth rate of that capex increase is slowing.

If Google raises capex dramatically on Wednesday, that is good for semis and bad for Google margins. If they hold it flat or guide conservatively, that is good for Google and bad for semis.

But here is the thing people keep getting wrong about how to think about Google’s spending. This is not about return on investment. This is about survival.

If a free Chinese AI model starts taking search share from Gemini, Google loses its core business. They cannot allow that to happen. So the framing of “when will they see ROI on AI spending” is the wrong question entirely. The right question is: how much do they have to spend to not lose search dominance? And the answer to that question has no ceiling.

Google is not spending to maximize returns. They’re spending to survive. Approach their capex guidance with that lens and the number becomes a lot more meaningful.

• $SKHY opening down roughly 12% from Thursday’s close

Do not make any major moves in semis Monday morning before you see how Korea opens and how it acts in the first hour. This is the single most important leading indicator for the $SOXX right now and it is being almost completely ignored.

📌 $GOOG — Wednesday Is Make or Break

• Prior capex guide $175-185B raised to $180-190B — watch whether growth rate of increase accelerates or decelerates

• 60% of spend goes to servers — direct read-through to $NVDA, $MU, $SNDK, $LRCX

• This is a survival spend, not an ROI spend — approach guidance with that framework

The single most important number in Wednesday’s report is not EPS. It is not revenue. It is the capex guidance number and the language around whether they see it accelerating from here.

📌 $SOXX / $MU / $SNDK — Change Your Trading Style

• Declining 12, declining 22, broken 55 — three confirming signals this is not a swing environment

• DRAM 1,500 level has flipped from support to resistance — previous put walls now capping bounces

• Friday’s massive volume was options unwind, not institutional accumulation

The training wheels came off Friday when options expired. Monday is a completely different tape. This is a day trading environment for semis right now. If you’re trying to swing trade with size against a declining index, declining sector, and declining individual names, you are fighting on three fronts simultaneously.

📌 Mag 7 vs $SOXX — The Rotation Has Room to Run

• Mag 7 has been outperforming $SOXX since June 30th window dressing — this is not a one-day event

• On a fib retracement of the entire Mag 7 vs $SOXX relative move, you are not even at the 23.6% level yet

• The full retracement to the neckline takes you to the 38.2% level — significantly more room

People are looking at this rotation as a blip. It is not. The relative move from semis into Mag 7 has been building for three weeks and the fib levels suggest it has significantly more room to play out.

📌 Refiners / Crude — The Trade Nobody Wants to Touch

• $MPC, $PSX, $BLO all breaking out as crude pushes back over key levels

• The money is in refiners, not tankers and not $XLE broadly

• The risk: this trade ends in a single tweet if the geopolitical situation resolves

I am not personally playing this because I do not want to be holding a refiner when the news changes overnight. But if you are comfortable with the geopolitical risk, the technical setup in the refiners is clean. Just know exactly where your stop is because this trade can evaporate as fast as it appeared..

What I’m Watching This Week

South Korea Sunday Night

• How $SKHY opens and how it acts in the first hour of trading is the most important leading indicator for the $SOXX. Watch it before doing anything else Monday morning.

$GOOG Capex Guidance — Wednesday

• Not EPS. Not revenue. Capex guidance and the language around whether spending accelerates. That single number moves semiconductors more than anything else this week.

DRAM Pricing Daily

• Still the only true leading indicator for the semiconductor thesis. Support has flipped to resistance technically but DRAM pricing has not confirmed the breakdown yet. If pricing starts dropping, the thesis changes fundamentally.

XLP vs XLY Ratio

• This is setting up to break out. If it does, the market is telling you to get more defensive immediately. Watch this closely — it has historically preceded significant market rotations.

The Bottom Line

The 12-day broke. Then the 22-day. Now the 55-day.

South Korea is walking into Sunday night with 400,000 margin calls behind them, new margin requirements they didn’t see coming, and their largest company opening 12% lower than where they went to sleep.

Google reports Wednesday and the capex number they give will either save the semiconductor thesis or accelerate the selling.

And two rotations are happening simultaneously that most traders are either ignoring or fighting — money moving from semis into Mag 7, and money moving from discretionary into defensives. Both have more room to run than people think.

The higher high is confirmed. Under the surface, three developments changed the picture entirely.

The Three Things Nobody Is Talking About

Let me walk through each one carefully because I think they matter significantly for how you position heading into this week.

1. China Chips — The Biggest Catalyst of the Year

This got completely buried under the SpaceX narrative and the semiconductor head and shoulders hand-wringing. But I think it’s the most important thing that happened all week.

China announced that certain AI companies will be allowed to purchase high-end chips. One line in the news cycle. Almost nobody picked it up.

Here is why it matters enormously: there is zero China revenue currently baked into $NVDA’s earnings or guidance. Not a dollar. If China opens up as a meaningful market for high-end AI chips, Nvidia has to take numbers up — significantly. The street has not priced any of this in.

And then look at what $NVDA did on Friday — a white marubozu pattern. The open was the low. The close was the high. On a Friday, when institutions are making their final positioning decisions for the week. That is not a coincidence.

This is the most underappreciated catalyst in the market right now. Zero China revenue in current estimates. One policy change could change that entirely.

2. The Bond Market Is Not Scared

While everyone was focused on the $SOXX head and shoulders and debating whether semiconductors are done, the bond market was telling a completely different story.

$HYG is hitting new highs. $BKLN — private credit lines — is hitting new highs. Investment grade is going nowhere.

Here is the framework for reading this: when institutions are genuinely scared about the market, they dump high yield and pile into investment grade. They want safety over yield. The exact opposite is happening right now. They are buying the riskiest bonds aggressively — which tells you they are not concerned about credit.

This does not end with $HYG at new highs. Markets do not crash when the riskiest part of the credit market is making new highs. The bond market is telling you something very different from what financial Twitter is saying.

When people are truly worried, they don’t buy high yield. Right now they’re buying it aggressively. That’s the signal.

3. The Yen Carry Trade — The One Risk Worth Monitoring

Nobody is talking about this. And it’s the one thing I’d actually put on your radar as a potential black swan.

COR1M measures options dispersion between the top 50 $SPX stocks. Right now it’s at extreme levels not seen since August 2024. And August 2024 is exactly when the yen carry trade unwind clobbered the market.

The yen carry trade works like this: institutions borrow money cheaply in Japan, convert it to dollars, and buy US equities. When the yen strengthens sharply, those trades unwind fast — and they unwind all at the same time.

My belief is that people who got hurt in August 2024 are probably less levered now. But I don’t know that for certain. And when something sends the market down hard and nobody is expecting it, that’s exactly how these things work.

Put an alert on USD/JPY. Watch it. If the yen strengthens sharply, this is the mechanism that could create a fast, ugly move lower.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $NVDA — China Is the Catalyst Nobody Has Priced In

• White marubozu printed on Friday — institutions buying into the close on massive volume

• Zero China revenue in current estimates — any policy clarity sends numbers dramatically higher

• $NVDA speeding up CPU launch, partnering with $ARM — multiple tailwinds converging

This is a setup I feel strongly about heading into this week. If China chip policy gets any further clarification, $NVDA has to be rerated. The street is completely unprepared for this.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Consolidation, Not Collapse

• $SOXX holding its neckline and the 61.8% fib retracement of the entire breakout move

• ATR collapsing across semi names — trendless consolidation, not distribution

• $SKHY premium over $MU normalized — rotation back into domestic DRAM names underway

When $SKHY went public it was cheaper than $MU on a trailing PE basis. Once it ran 20%, that premium flipped. Institutions rotated back into $MU and $SNDK on valuation. That is not carnage — that is a rational rebalance. Watch DRAM pricing for the real signal.

📌 $HYG / $BKLN — The Bond Market Confirms the Thesis

• $HYG hitting new highs — institutions choosing yield over safety

• $BKLN at new highs — private credit market not pricing in stress

• High yield vs investment grade ratio still trending in favor of risk — same signal that marked the March 2026 bottom

You don’t buy high yield aggressively when you think the market is rolling over. The credit market is the smartest money in the room. Right now it’s telling you to stay long risk assets.

📌 Short $SPCX / Space Names — IPO VWAP Broken, No Recovery

• $SPCX broke its IPO VWAP and has not recovered — this is the pattern that plays out across virtually every IPO that loses its VWAP

• Space ETFs ($UFO, $NASA) still repositioning — selling pressure in $RKLB, $ASTS not necessarily done

• Insider selling in $RKLB accelerating — executives can’t get out fast enough

The SpaceX IPO playbook is identical to Rivian, Coinbase, and every other high-profile IPO that broke its VWAP on day one. Until $SPCX reclaims $135, the path of least resistance is lower — and it takes the space complex with it.

📌 Watch USD/JPY — The COR1M Signal

• COR1M at extreme levels not seen since August 2024

• August 2024 was the yen carry trade unwind that clobbered the market without warning

• Less leverage in the system now — but the mechanism still exists

This is not a high-probability event. But it is the one thing I would put on your radar as a potential fast-moving black swan. Set an alert on USD/JPY. If the yen strengthens sharply and quickly, get defensive immediately.

What I’m Watching This Week

China Chip Policy

• Any further clarification on which companies and which chips sends $NVDA significantly higher. Zero in current estimates means the upside is uncapped if this develops.

$SOXX Neckline

• The head and shoulders neckline is holding. If it breaks, the next meaningful support is the 55-day at roughly 518-520. If it holds, consolidation continues and leaders emerge.

USD/JPY

• The COR1M signal is worth respecting. Not predicting a crash — just monitoring the one mechanism that could create a fast disorderly move.

DRAM Pricing

• This is still the only leading indicator that actually matters for the semiconductor thesis. SK Hynix signed contracts with no price caps. Pricing is still going up. When it turns, you’ll see it here first.

The Bottom Line

The higher high is confirmed. Breadth is broadening. The bond market is buying high yield aggressively — not running for safety. And China just opened a door for $NVDA revenue that has exactly zero dollars priced into current estimates.

Three things happened this week that got buried under the noise — a China chip policy change that could be the biggest catalyst of the year, a bond market that is clearly not scared, and a yen carry trade signal worth putting on your radar.

Most people are watching the $SOXX head and shoulders and debating whether semiconductors are done. The bond market, the credit market, and a white marubozu on $NVDA on a Friday are all telling you something different.

Meanwhile, the Dow just hit all-time highs. Breadth is getting stronger. DRAM pricing hit new highs over the weekend. And SK Hynix came out and said there are no price caps on new contracts.

These two pictures don’t match. One of them is right. Here’s how I’m reading it.

• Breadth getting stronger as the market sold off — positive divergence across the board

• $EWY up 5% on Friday — SK Hynix held key levels and bounced hard

• Financials and regional banks ($KRE) hitting new highs

The index looks weak. Under the surface, the story is considerably more constructive.

What Actually Happened Last Week — The Confluence Nobody Is Connecting

Let me walk through this carefully because I think most people are connecting the wrong dots.

Step 1: Window Dressing

June 30th is quarter end. Funds go out and buy the names that performed best during the quarter so their limited partners see they were invested in the right things. It’s called window dressing — and it drove $SOXX up 12% in just two days into the close.

But here’s the thing: those funds didn’t actually want to own those names at those prices. They were always going to unwind that position as soon as the quarter flipped.

Step 2: Meta’s Announcement

The very next day, Meta announced it’s getting into the neo cloud business. That gave everyone who wanted to unwind their window dressing a narrative to sell into. Suddenly it wasn’t “we’re taking profits on our quarter-end positioning” — it was “AI capex is getting cut and this is the beginning of the end.”

Step 3: Social Media Coordination

By Thursday, people were sending around posts showing DRAM chips available for purchase at half price online. Social media was flooded with bearish semiconductor takes. Whether coordinated or not, the effect was the same — panic layered on top of an already vulnerable technical setup.

This was timed perfectly for bears. Window dressing created artificial demand, Meta’s news gave everyone an exit, and social media piled on. That is not a fundamental breakdown. That is a setup.

The question you need to answer is: did anything actually change about the fundamental picture for semiconductors? We’ll get to that.

Meta’s Neo Cloud Problem

I want to spend time on Meta because I think the market’s reaction actually tells you something important.

When the rumors first hit that Meta was going to get into cloud, the stock ripped. Everyone got excited — finally, some capital discipline. Finally, a path to monetize all that AI spending.

Then Zuckerberg actually explained what he meant.

He’s trying to compete with AWS and Google Cloud. Companies that have been building this infrastructure for 15 years. And he’s doing it as a lower-margin business — the exact opposite of what shareholders want from a company that prints money on advertising.

The stock sold off immediately when people understood what was actually being proposed.

Here’s the other thing worth noting: Meta’s own CEO admitted AI agent development is slower than expected. He reorganized thousands of employees onto AI projects. He’s expecting meaningful results in 3-6 months. This is not a company executing a clear strategy — this is a company trying to figure out what to do with billions of dollars in spend.

The companies most at risk from this announcement are not AWS or Google Cloud. They’re the smaller neo cloud players — $CRWV, $NBIS, $IREN — who now face the prospect of a well-funded new competitor in their space. That’s the fallout worth watching.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $IBB / Biotech — The Rotation Nobody Is Watching

• $SOXX vs $IBB has formed a double top — biotech set to outperform semis on a relative basis

• Biotech breaking out while semis consolidate — classic sector rotation

• $LABU pulled back to a key level during window dressing week and immediately bounced

When semis consolidate, money doesn’t disappear — it rotates. Right now it’s rotating into beaten down sectors that nobody was paying attention to. Biotech is one of the cleanest expressions of that rotation.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Technicals Weak, Fundamentals Unchanged

• SK Hynix signed new DRAM contracts over the weekend with no price caps — price is the price

• DRAM pricing hitting new highs, not new lows

• Michael Burry is shorting $MU on technicals — he cited distance from the 200-day, not earnings

Nothing about the demand picture has changed. $MU is still sold out for three years. This is a technical correction in a fundamental uptrend. Watch DRAM pricing — that is the only signal that actually matters for when this thesis changes.

📌 Financials / $KRE / Homebuilders — The Broadening Rotation

• Regional banks hitting new highs

• Homebuilders holding key levels and forming a base

• S&P starting to outperform the Nasdaq on a relative basis — time for the broader market to catch up

When the Dow is at all-time highs and financials are breaking out, this is not a market that is falling apart. This is a market rotating away from a concentrated sector bet and into broader participation.

📌 Short $CRWV / $NBIS — Neo Cloud Fallout Not Done

• $CRWV CEO sold $38M in stock ahead of Meta’s announcement — somebody knew something

• $NBIS and $IREN now face a well-funded competitor entering their space

• These names were already expensive — the Meta overhang makes the valuation case even harder

The selling in these names may not be done. Until Meta clarifies exactly how aggressive they’re going to be in this space, the overhang remains.

📌 $META — Sell the Rip

• Rejected at its 55-day moving average on the neo cloud announcement

• Getting into a lower-margin business at the expense of returning capital to shareholders

• History of large, expensive pivots that don’t deliver — metaverse, now this

The market told you exactly what it thinks about this strategy when it sold off after Zuckerberg explained it. I’d be a seller of any bounce back toward the 55-day.

What I’m Watching This Week

DRAM Pricing

• This is the only leading indicator that actually matters for the semiconductor thesis. If it starts dropping, that’s when the fundamental case changes. Right now it’s hitting new highs.

$SOXX vs $IBB Rotation

• Watch whether biotech continues to outperform semis on a relative basis. That rotation has room to run.

Smart Money / Dumb Money Cross

• Retail is buying back in as institutions sell slowly. Historically this has marked bottoming areas, not crash setups.

$META 55-Day

• If it can’t reclaim the 55-day, the path of least resistance is lower. Watch how it acts on the first bounce.

The Bottom Line

Markets do not crash when the Dow is hitting all-time highs. They do not crash when breadth is getting stronger, biotech is breaking out, and financials are making new highs. They rotate.

What happened last week was a confluence of window dressing unwind, one company’s bad strategic announcement, and coordinated social media pressure — all hitting into a light holiday week. That is not a fundamental breakdown.

The fundamental case for semiconductors changes when DRAM pricing drops. When CapEx actually gets cut. When estimates get revised lower. None of that has happened. SK Hynix signed new contracts over the weekend with no price caps. That is not what the end of a cycle looks like.

Stay focused on what actually matters. Everything else is noise.

The index looks ugly. Under the surface, the story is completely different.

The Two Mechanical Events Nobody Is Talking About

Let me be direct about this because I think it matters.

The selloff last week was not caused by AI being over. It was not caused by demand destruction in memory. It was not caused by Micron missing earnings — because Micron didn’t miss earnings. They crushed them.

It was caused by two specific, identifiable, mechanical events happening simultaneously.

Event 1: Pension Fund Rebalancing — $165 Billion in Forced Selling

JP Morgan’s flows and liquidity desk estimated roughly $165 billion in forced equity selling heading into quarter and month end. Here is why.

The equity risk premium — which measures the earnings yield of the S&P minus the 10-year Treasury rate — went negative. When that happens, pension funds and life insurance companies can earn nearly the same return sitting in bonds as they can in equities, with far less risk. And because these institutions manage to assumptions, not to maximize returns, they rebalance when they hit their benchmarks.

The critical detail here is that these funds have the least cash they’ve had in over a decade. They’ve shifted heavily into alternatives — private equity, private credit — that they cannot liquidate quickly. So when they needed to raise cash, they sold what they could sell. Equities.

And they used $MU earnings as the liquidity event to do it. Not because earnings were bad. Because everyone was piling in on the earnings beat, which gave them the liquidity they needed to get out with size.

This is not a fundamental story. This is institutions hitting their assumptions and using your excitement about Micron’s earnings as a door to exit.

Event 2: The Biggest Russell Rebalance in History

43 stocks graduated from the Russell 2000 small cap index into large cap last week. The top five names that graduated were up an average of 418% over the prior year. $BE alone was up 1,100%.

When stocks graduate out of the Russell 2000, every fund that tracks or mimics that index must mechanically sell those names — no discretion, no timing, no fundamental judgment. Just sell.

$BE had 60 million shares that needed to be sold mechanically. On a name that normally trades around 8 million shares a day. $CRDO, $STRL, $FN — same story across the board.

And here is the important part: the secondary wave of selling may not be done. Funds that mirror the index but don’t track it exactly need to rebalance too — and that process can take several days. Monday and Tuesday worth watching closely.

Micron’s Earnings Were Historic. Read That Again.

While everyone was calling this demand destruction, here is what $MU actually reported:

• Revenue up 346% year over year — beat estimates by $5.77 billion

• EPS non-GAAP $25.11 — beat by $4.40, up 1,200% from a year ago

• Gross margins 84.9% — a company record, up from 39% a year ago

• Guided $50 billion next quarter at 86% gross margins — crushing every estimate

• Data center revenue exceeded $25 billion

• SSD revenue more than doubled sequentially

That is not a company at peak cycle. That is a company whose earnings power has structurally changed.

And while people are calling it demand destruction, Apple this weekend went to the government asking permission to source memory from a blacklisted Chinese supplier — because they cannot get enough from anyone else. That is the literal opposite of demand destruction.

He who has the gold makes the rules. Right now the gold is $MU and $SNDK. And everyone needs it.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Earnings Were Historic. The Thesis Is Unchanged.

• Revenue up 346%, gross margins at a company record, guidance crushing estimates

• $SNDK went from earning roughly $1 a quarter to $23 — this is not the same company

• The selloff was pension fund liquidation using earnings as a liquidity event — not a fundamental verdict

People keep calling the top without being able to explain what specifically changes the earnings trajectory. Until earnings slow, I’m not fighting this trend. The question is whether institutional buying steps back in after the rebalancing clears.

📌 $BE / $CRDO / $STRL — Watch the Rebalancing Aftermath

• These names were mechanically sold because they graduated out of the Russell 2000 — not because of fundamentals

• Secondary rebalancing from index-mimicking funds may persist into early this week

• Once the mechanical selling is complete, the fundamental case for these names is unchanged

The question is not whether these names are broken. The question is whether the selling is done. Watch volume carefully in the first two days of the week — if volume dries up and price stabilizes, that’s your signal.

📌 $ASML / $LRCX / $AMAT — The Buildout Signal Is Still Intact

• SK Hynix is doubling production capacity over the next five years and paying record bonuses to retain workers

• $ASML, $LRCX, $AMAT all holding their breakouts through the chaos

• Semicap equipment names move at the beginning of cycles, not the end

Companies don’t double production capacity and pay half-million dollar bonuses because they see a slowdown coming. This is still one of the most important signals in the market and most people are ignoring it.

📌 $IWM — Likely to Underperform Now

• The biggest Russell rebalance in history just completed — the names that drove $IWM’s outperformance are gone

• The graduating class was up an average of 261% — those returns will not be replicated by the replacements

• Homebuilders and lower-beta names now make up a larger percentage of the index

$IWM hit highs into the rebalance — but the composition of the index has fundamentally changed. If you’re looking for a hedge here, this is worth watching as a relative underperformer.

📌 $AAPL — Government Blacklist Creates a Supply Problem

• Apple went to the government asking to source memory from a blacklisted Chinese supplier — a sign they cannot get enough from elsewhere

• The government is unlikely to approve this — which leaves Apple with a supply constraint

• This is a company-specific headwind that has nothing to do with the broader memory thesis

Watch how $AAPL acts early this week as this situation develops.

What I’m Watching This Week

Russell Secondary Rebalancing — Monday and Tuesday

• Index-mimicking funds need to complete their repositioning. Until volume dries up on names like $BE and $CRDO, the mechanical selling may not be fully done.

Equity Risk Premium

• If it stays negative, pension fund pressure continues. Watch the 10-year yield and $SPY earnings yield together — that spread is the signal.

$MU / $SNDK Institutional Buying

• The fundamental case didn’t change. The question is whether institutions step back in now that the forced selling is behind us. Watch the last hour buying behavior early in the week.

$ASML / $LRCX / $AMAT

• Semicap names holding breakouts through the chaos is a meaningful signal. If they start breaking down, that changes the thesis. Right now they’re not.

The Bottom Line

Two mechanical events — $165 billion in pension fund rebalancing and the biggest Russell graduation in history — hit simultaneously and caused 5% drawdown in the NASDAQ. Those two events are now largely behind us.

The earnings did not break. $MU just posted the best quarter in its history. The buildout is not slowing — SK Hynix is doubling capacity and paying record bonuses. Apple is going to the government asking to buy memory from a blacklisted company because they can’t get enough.

If you understand what actually caused the selloff, your next decision gets a lot clearer. If you’re still listening to “demand destruction” without being able to define what specifically changes the earnings trajectory, you’re going to miss what comes next.

Nobody who says that can actually explain why.

The macro is shifting fast. A major rotation is happening underneath the index level — and most people are missing it because they’re focused on the wrong sector.

Why “It Can’t Continue” Isn’t an Argument

I want to spend time on this because I think it’s costing people real money.

Semiconductors are up 84% from the March low. Every week I hear the same thing: this can’t continue, it has to come down, it’s too extended. Here’s my question back to anyone who says that: what, specifically, is going to change?

Look at $SNDK’s earnings trajectory over the past several quarters: $0.36, then $6.20, then $23. That is not a story about hype. That is a story about a company whose earnings power has fundamentally changed. In 20-plus years of trading, I have never seen semiconductor earnings growth move this fast.

People keep comparing this to dot-com. It is nothing like dot-com.

During dot-com, companies traded at 80-90 times future earnings because we invented new metrics — eyeballs, website visits — to justify valuations with no revenue behind them. What you have right now is the opposite: earnings growing faster than the stock prices, multiple times in a row, quarter after quarter.

If earnings keep rising and keep rising faster than people expect, the index keeps going higher. It’s not a mystery. It’s not some secret. Until earnings actually slow down, this doesn’t stop.

The driving force here has a name. It’s earnings. Until that changes, “it can’t continue” is not a thesis — it’s a feeling.

The Rotation Most People Are Missing

While everyone is watching semis, there’s a second story developing that I think matters just as much heading into this week.

Crude oil has collapsed 35% from its peak. Gas prices are down roughly 22% from their peak average. That has direct, immediate consequences across multiple sectors that almost nobody is talking about.

Airlines. Oil is the single biggest cost for any airline. When oil drops this much, profit margins expand immediately. $JETS still hasn’t even recovered to pandemic-era levels — it is massively depressed relative to the rest of the market, which makes it one of the more interesting low-beta setups out there right now.

Cruise lines. $CCL, $RCL, and even the laggard $NCLH are all starting to shape up technically at the same time the macro tailwind is forming. Lower gas prices mean more disposable income heading into peak summer travel season.

Industrials. This is the one I think matters most. $CAT just completed a textbook breakout, retest, and quiet break to new highs on Friday. $GEV showed an exhaustive selling bar, held its 55-day, and is now confirming the reversal with less volume on each retest.

Industrials do not hit new highs heading into a recession. When you see this kind of broad participation outside of just semis, that tells you the market is pricing in something very different from the doom narrative still floating around financial media.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $SOXX — Up 84% and Still the Trade

• Semiconductor earnings growth has never moved this fast in over 20 years of trading

• $SNDK’s earnings trajectory — $0.36 to $6.20 to $23 — tells you this is structural, not speculative

• Nothing here resembles dot-com valuations — this is earnings-driven, not narrative-driven

People keep calling the top. Nobody can explain what specifically changes that thesis. Until earnings slow, I’m not fighting this trend.

📌 $JETS — The Cleanest Way to Play the Oil Collapse

• Crude down 35% from its peak, gas down 22% from peak average pricing

• Oil is the single largest cost for airlines — lower oil drops straight to the bottom line

• Still has not recovered to pandemic-era levels, massively depressed relative to the broader market

This is about as low-beta and straightforward a setup as exists in this market right now. The macro tailwind is direct and the technical setup is just starting to confirm.

📌 $CAT / $GEV — Industrials Confirming the Broader Market

• $CAT completed a textbook breakout, retest, and quiet new high on Friday

• $GEV showed exhaustive selling, held its 55-day, and confirmed the reversal on lighter volume

• Data center buildout remains on fire globally despite cancellation headlines getting all the attention

When industrials break out alongside semis, that is broad-based confirmation, not a single-sector story. I added to $GEV on the reversal setup and I’m watching $CAT for continuation.

📌 $CCL / $RCL / $NCLH — Leisure and Travel Rotation

• $PEJ (leisure and entertainment) is shaping up across the board

• $NCLH, the laggard of the group, is bouncing off the bottom

• Lower gas prices translate directly into more consumer disposable income heading into summer

When multiple correlated sectors confirm the same macro thesis simultaneously, that is not a coincidence. Watch for the group to keep rotating higher together.

📌 $STRC / Short $MSTX — The Most Misunderstood Trade of the Week

• STRC sold off hard on social media “Ponzi scheme” panic — the actual structure tells a very different story

• They cannot issue new shares below par, and they’re increasing payment frequency, not cutting it — the opposite of distress

• DE Shaw, BlackRock, and Millennium all materially increased their STRC positions this quarter

• Short sellers are now paying roughly 13% annualized to stay short — this was a leveraged margin call, not a structural collapse

Scams do not pay you more often. They miss payments. I’m long STRC with downside protection and remain short $MSTX, where the structural spread to mimic $MSTR makes the math difficult to justify.

What I’m Watching This Week

$SPCX IPO VWAP

• Trapped between $170 and $190. A break above $190 likely targets $200. A break below $170 means defense mode.

Industrials & Data Centers

• Watch for further broadening beyond $CAT and $GEV. This rotation is still early.

$XLE / $GUSH

• Head and shoulders confirmed on the neckline. $GUSH looks like one of the cleanest shorts in the energy complex right now.

Fed Chair Communication Style

• Shorter statements, no dot plot, no forward guidance. This likely means more day-to-day market volatility — which, frankly, creates more opportunity for traders who understand the new framework.

The Bottom Line

Semiconductors are up 84% and people are still calling the top without being able to explain what changes the earnings trajectory. Industrials are breaking out into what’s supposed to be a recession. Oil is collapsing and confirming disinflation across every commercial hedger signal that actually matters.

The people getting this wrong are the ones reacting to headlines and TikTok videos instead of doing the work. The STRC situation this week was a perfect example — a leveraged margin call got mistaken for a Ponzi scheme because nobody bothered to check whether the issuer was actually missing payments.

Do the work. Understand the why behind every move. That is the only way you’ll actually know when any of this ends — instead of guessing and getting run over by a trend that has earnings squarely behind it.

This week I want to walk you through what the $SPCX listing actually means for how you position yourself — who benefits, who is structurally short, and why the trade that everyone forgot about is still the most important one in the market. Let’s get into it.

The $SPCX IPO created chaos. But underneath it, the market is telling you exactly where the money is going.

The SpaceX IPO — What the Tape Is Actually Saying

Let me separate the hype from what the chart and the mechanics are actually telling us.

$SPCX priced at $135. It traded as low as $135 intraday — which means the IPO VWAP is right at that level. That number matters more than anything else right now. Here is why.

When Facebook went public, it was a disaster. It broke its IPO VWAP almost immediately and then spent over a year rejecting off that level every time it tried to recover. When it finally reclaimed it and held — that was the beginning of one of the greatest runs in market history.

Rivian told the opposite story. Broke the IPO VWAP early and never came back.

The IPO VWAP is the only technical level that matters right now for $SPCX. If the daily starts closing below $135, you want to be defensive. If it holds and the daily closes above it, the bid is real.

Only 4% of this company is currently trading. Employees and early investors hold the other 96%. In November, 60% becomes available for sale. That is the real overhang — and it is months away. For now, the float is so thin that the price action is not telling you much about true institutional demand. What it is telling you is that retail wants in — and the mechanisms forcing index inclusion are going to add support whether institutions want it or not.

The most important thing you can do with $SPCX right now is watch the IPO VWAP. Everything else is noise.

The Tesla Merger Trade Is More Real Than People Think

Here is the trade that most people are missing entirely.

After the $SPCX listing, SpaceX’s COO made comments about “tons of synergies” between Tesla and SpaceX. The market heard it — $TSLA ripped immediately after those comments and held its 55-day moving average on the highest volume in over a month.

Musk has a very clear history here. He merged Solar City into Tesla. He folded X into XAI. He bought XAI into SpaceX. The pattern is consistent — he combines companies to share costs, infrastructure, and the AI layer across all of them.

If Tesla and SpaceX merge, $TSLA becomes part of the largest company in the US stock market. And right now, on a valuation basis, $TSLA is the cheaper way into $SPCX.

The weekly chart tells a compelling technical story too. You have a cup forming from December 2024 through the April lows, a handle developing at the $380 put wall level, and a measured move target near $670 on a clean breakout. That does not happen on a random Tuesday — but the setup is there and it is worth watching closely.

📌 $TSLA — The Cheap Way Into SpaceX

• COO flagged Tesla/SpaceX synergies — merger speculation is now openly on the table

• Held 55-day moving average on massive volume Friday — institutional support confirmed

• Cup and handle forming on the weekly — measured move target near $670

Musk has done this before with every company he runs. The synergies are real — shared fabrication facilities, shared AI infrastructure, shared cost base. I have a position. I’m watching the downtrend line for the breakout confirmation.

📌 $SNDK / $MU — The Cycle Is Not Over

• $SNDK went from earning roughly $1 a quarter to $23 a quarter in three quarters — this is not the same company

• $MU has $40 billion in long-term agreements already locked for the next two years

• Semiconductor earnings raised 17% across the board in a single quarter — that has never happened, including during dot-com

People keep saying they missed it. The earnings keep accelerating faster than the stock prices are moving. That is not a bubble. That is a mispriced asset still being corrected.

📌 $LRCX / $AMAT — Semicap Names Signal the Beginning, Not the End

• $LRCX gets 39% of revenue from NAND — hitting highs on Friday with nobody talking about it

• $AMAT hitting highs alongside it

• Semicap equipment names move at the START of semiconductor cycles, not the end

When the companies that build the machines that make the chips start breaking out, that tells you the buildout is accelerating — not ending. This is one of the most important signals in the market right now and almost nobody is discussing it.

📌 Short $DXYZ / $VCX — The Premium Is Structurally Gone

• $VCX NAV is approximately $18 — trading near $130. That is not a valuation argument, that is math

• $DXYZ premium existed because retail couldn’t buy $SPCX publicly — that reason no longer exists

• As Anthropic, Databricks, and OpenAI go public, every private holding in these wrappers gets a real mark

When you can buy the underlying asset directly in the open market, there is zero reason to pay a 30-50% premium for a wrapper. The catalyst for the premium to collapse just arrived. These are structural shorts.

📌 $RKLB / $ASTS — The Selling Is Not Done

• $UFO and $NASA failed to raise cash before the IPO — they are selling existing holdings NOW to make room for $SPCX

• Both names trade at a significant revenue premium to $SPCX — that math does not hold

• The mechanism is self-reinforcing — funds sell to rebalance, traders short, retail follows

Space ETFs cannot call themselves space funds without owning the sixth largest company in America. They didn’t prepare. Now they’re selling everything else to buy it. This resolves when the rebalancing is complete — we are not there yet.

What I’m Watching This Week

$SPCX IPO VWAP — $135

• If the daily closes below this level, get defensive immediately. If it holds, the bid is real. This is the only technical level that matters for the next several weeks.

$TSLA Downtrend Line

• Watch for a clean break and close above it. That is your confirmation that the merger trade has legs beyond one day of excitement.

$MU Earnings — June 24

• Goldman raised concerns about long-term agreement visibility. But $40B is already locked. Unless corporations are breaking agreements, the bear case is limited. Watch the reaction to guidance more than the beat.

Space ETF Rebalancing

• $UFO and $NASA need to complete their repositioning before $RKLB and $ASTS stabilize. Until the rebalancing is done, the selling pressure continues regardless of fundamentals.

The Bottom Line

The $SPCX IPO was the most chaotic event this market has seen in months. It created forced selling in space names, a structural short in private company wrappers, a merger trade in $TSLA, and a distraction that caused most traders to completely miss semiconductors having one of their best days of the year.

The cycle in semis is not over. The equipment makers are just now hitting highs. The memory names are earning more in one quarter than they used to earn in an entire year. And the buildout of the infrastructure that requires all of it is accelerating — not slowing.

The market did not break because of oil. It did not break because of the bond market. Here is exactly what broke it.

The 11:00am Headline That Nobody Connected

At exactly 11:00am on Friday, a single headline crossed the tape.

SpaceX IPO said to draw more orders than shares available.

Most people read that and thought it was bullish. Experienced traders read it and immediately understood what it meant.

When a major deal has to announce it’s oversubscribed, it usually means it’s struggling. CBRE was 20x oversubscribed and became one of the single greatest shorts of 2026. Every big institutional deal is 10x oversubscribed as a matter of course. You don’t put out a press release about it.

Here is what the tape actually said:

• 30% of the IPO is going to retail — an astronomical amount for a deal this size

• Robinhood dropped the minimum account size requirement so anyone can participate

• Institutions had to hold back 10-15% for friends and family because there wasn’t enough institutional demand

• Elon is doing a road show pitching 2040 projections to justify the valuation

The street doesn’t want this deal. And they’re being forced to take it anyway.

From 11:00am on, every single rally was sold immediately. That is not retail panic. That is institutional distribution. Programmed, systematic, 45-degree selling. You can see it on the $TSLA chart like a channel. That does not happen by accident.

The SpaceX Valuation Problem Nobody Is Talking About

Let me walk you through the numbers because I think most people are not looking at this clearly.

SpaceX’s actual organic revenue growth in 2025, excluding the XAI acquisition, was 9%. Not 44-60% like the analysts are projecting. Nine percent.

The reason the revenue numbers look explosive is because they acquired XAI — a company losing $6 billion annually — and paid roughly $400 billion for it. So for every dollar of XAI revenue, they’re spending two. And they’re calling it a merger.

The valuation trajectory tells the whole story:

• July 2025 secondary sale: $400 billion

• December 2025: repriced to $800 billion because “it’s an AI company now”

• February 2026: merged with XAI, adding $400 billion more

• June 2026 IPO: valued at over $1.8 trillion

What happened between February and June 2026 to add another $500 billion in value? The answer is glossy S1 photos and a road show.

At the IPO price, SpaceX is trading at 65 times revenue. The analyst bull case requires them to 6x revenue almost immediately after going public. The bear case is that they’re a rocket company growing at 9% organically with a money-losing AI acquisition attached to it.

Institutions have done this math. That’s why they don’t want it.

The Mechanics of What Happens Next

Here is the part that makes next week genuinely dangerous.

SpaceX is being force-fed into passive index funds whether those funds want it or not. The NASDAQ changed its rules specifically to allow fast-entry inclusion. Passive QQQ funds must mechanically buy whatever price SpaceX trades at on rebalance day. There is no choice.

The estimated forced buying across all index trackers is $15-30 billion.

That money has to come from somewhere. And retail is going to provide it by selling their biggest winners. The names with the highest retail net flows over the past month are the names getting hit hardest. $MU was up 100% from May 1st to its peak. $TSLA. $SNDK. $ARM. These are not selling on fundamentals. They are ATMs.

Here is the timeline you need to know:

• June 12 — SpaceX lists

• June 15 — Enters buyback blackout window

• June 16 — SpaceX options begin trading

• June 18 — Regulatory expiration, ETF listings, S&P TMI inclusion

• June 26 — MSCI inclusion

• June 30 — Month and quarter end rebalancing

• July 6 — NDX inclusion

Every one of these dates is a potential liquidity event. And retail still hasn’t sold everything they’re going to sell.

This is day one. Not one day.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $QQQ — Stay Out of the Way Until It Settles

• Closed under the 12 and 22-day for the first time since this rally began — this is a change in character

• Institutions don’t reverse course on a Monday after Friday selling like this — they follow a process

• Next meaningful support is the 55-day — a move there would not be surprising

When you open at the high and close at the low breaking critical levels on a Friday, the right move is to get out of the house and look at it from the outside. I’m not re-entering until this settles. My bias is net short on intermediate trades until the SpaceX overhang clears.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Fundamental Story Intact, Timing Is Everything

• Nothing changed on the earnings front — not one number, not one data point

• This is pure retail liquidation to fund SpaceX — the source of funds trade

• Need to hold the 22-day or the next stop is materially lower

I still believe in this thesis long-term. The DRAM cycle is intact. The CPU demand story is intact. But being right on fundamentals and being right on timing are two different things. I’m not stepping in front of this until the SpaceX overhang clears.

📌 $TSLA — Being Used as an ATM

• Selling on Friday was 45-degree, programmed, systematic — textbook institutional distribution

• Retail is selling $TSLA to fund SpaceX because it made them money and they expect SpaceX to do the same

• The correlation between $TSLA selling and SpaceX excitement is not a coincidence

There may be short-term put opportunities on bounces. But the bigger point is understanding why it’s selling so you don’t mistake a liquidity event for a fundamental breakdown. It will stabilize when the SpaceX funding trade is done.

📌 $RKLB / $ASTS — The Most Dangerous Names Heading Into Next Week

• Both are trading at higher valuations relative to SpaceX — that math does not work

• If institutions think SpaceX is overvalued at 65x revenue, they definitely think these are

• Already down 20% off highs and the IPO hasn’t even listed yet

When the mother ship is expensive, the derivatives get destroyed. The retail excitement around these names will not survive a direct comparison to SpaceX’s actual listing price and actual financials. These are the names I’d be most cautious about.

📌 $ARM — Needs to Rebuild Before Re-Entry

• Hit the 12-day on Friday — not catastrophic, but needs time

• Being used as a cash source despite the Nvidia CPU partnership thesis being completely intact

• A move to the 22-day at $284 would be a healthy reset and a potential re-entry point

Nothing changed about why $ARM matters. Nvidia is still calling itself a CPU company. The partnership is still intact. The earnings thesis is still building. This is a gift if it gets to the 22-day and holds.

What I’m Watching This Week

SpaceX Listing — June 12

• Watch how it opens and whether institutional buyers actually show up. If it gaps up and fades, that tells you everything.

SpaceX Options — June 16

• This is when it gets really interesting. Options on a highly shorted, retail-heavy name with forced index buying creates setups in both directions.

$MU / $SNDK — The 22-Day

• This is the line. Bulls in charge above it. If it loses it, the next level of support is significantly lower and the selling accelerates.

Month and Quarter End — June 30

• Forced rebalancing on top of the SpaceX inclusion mechanics. This is the date where passive funds have the least flexibility. Watch for outsized moves.

The Bottom Line

The NASDAQ didn’t break because of oil. It didn’t break because of the bond market. It broke because retail is liquidating their best performers to fund an IPO that institutions largely don’t want — and institutions front-ran every single one of those liquidations.

The fundamental story in semis, hardware, and AI infrastructure has not changed. Not one earnings number. Not one data point. This is a liquidity event layered on top of a forced index inclusion mechanics story.

But liquidity events don’t care about fundamentals in the short term. And this one has three more weeks of catalysts ahead of it.

Stay out of the way. Let it burn. And when the SpaceX overhang clears and the forced selling is done — that is when you step back in with size.

$SPY hit another all-time high last week. $DELL erupted 32% in a single session. $MU got a $1,600 price target slapped on it. And the loudest voices on financial Twitter spent the week saying bubble.

They’re looking at the wrong things.

This week I want to walk you through why the fundamental case for this market is stronger than most people understand, where the rotation is going next, and the one thing — the only thing — that is genuinely on my radar as a concern. Let’s get into it.

The macro is getting clearer. The fundamentals are the strongest I’ve seen in 25 years. The technicals are confirming both.

This Is Not a Bubble. Here’s Why.

Before we get into setups I want to address the thing I keep hearing — because it’s costing people money.

Everyone is calling this a bubble. They’re pointing at charts that look extended, valuations that look stretched, and price targets that look absurd. And they’re wrong. Here’s why.

During the dot-com bubble, we invented new metrics because there were no earnings. Eyeballs. Website visits. We were funding companies with retail money and debt, and there was nothing underneath. When the music stopped, there was nothing to fall back on.

That is not what is happening here.

$SNDK was supposed to earn $14 last quarter. They earned $23. They guided next quarter to $33-35. $DELL beat EPS by 50% and raised their AI server revenue outlook from $50 billion to $60 billion — adding the equivalent of an entire extra quarter of earnings to their fiscal year in a single guidance revision.

The investment banks just put a $1,600 price target on $MU. And they’re saying it should trade at 15x earnings — a discount to the S&P at 21x — even with this growth rate. That is not bubble talk. That is a mispriced asset getting corrected.

When people say these charts look parabolic, I want to show them what parabolic actually looks like. Parabolic is a company with no earnings, no revenue, and a story. That is not $DELL. That is not $MU. That is not $ARM.

The fundamentals of this market are probably the strongest on the earnings beat and earnings growth side that I have seen in 25 years of trading. Until the earnings slow, the thesis does not change.

The one thing that could change it — and the one thing I am genuinely watching — I’ll get to at the end.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $DELL — This Is Their Nvidia Moment

• EPS beat by 50% — $17.31 versus $11.63 expected

• AI server revenue guidance raised from $50B to $60B

• $27B added to the fiscal year outlook — the equivalent of an entire extra quarter in earnings

This was telegraphed by Lenovo last week. The hardware cycle is not over — it’s broadening. This is their Nvidia 2023 moment and most people are going to realize it after the fact.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — The Rerating Is Just Getting Started

• $SNDK earned $23 when estimates were $14 — next quarter guided $33-35

• $MU now has long-term agreements providing a steady income base — this is not the cyclical $MU of 10 years ago

• Investment banks rerated to 15x earnings — still a discount to the broader market

People keep waiting for this trade to be over. The earnings keep accelerating. I’m still long and the thesis hasn’t changed.

📌 $ARM — The Nvidia Partnership Is Not Priced In

• $NVDA said CPU dozens of times on their conference call — $ARM is their CPU architecture partner

• $NVDA pulling forward their CPU launch by a full quarter — accelerating $ARM revenue timeline

• Computex 2026 next week — watch for a joint announcement that re-rates this relationship

The valuation argument misses the point entirely. The question is not what $ARM earns today. The question is what $ARM earns when Nvidia’s distribution model is behind their architecture in every major CPU deployment. Watch Computex closely.

📌 $IGV / $CIBR — The Rotation Is Already Happening

• $IGV positive divergence forming on the weekly — institutions rotating into software as semis consolidate

• $CIBR at all-time highs — AI scale requires more cyber security, not less

• $CRWD and $PANW reporting Tuesday — institutions are already positioned ahead of these

Semis may need a rest. The money doesn’t disappear — it rotates. Software is relatively cheap. Cyber is breaking out. This is where I’m looking for the next entries.

📌 $HPE — The Sleeper Into Monday Earnings

• Juniper Networks acquisition growing 135% year-over-year — now a third of total revenues

• Breaking out of a year-long base — almost nobody is covering this

• Lenovo and Dell already gave you the hardware infrastructure read-through

This is the under-the-radar name that the hardware broadening trade points to. Reports Monday. I’ve been in this since mid-April and I’m not moving.

What I’m Watching This Week

$HPE Earnings — Monday

• Juniper growth rate is the number. If it holds at 135%+ the stock re-rates.

$CRWD / $PANW Earnings — Tuesday

• Cyber security hitting all-time highs into earnings. Watch how much is priced in on the open.

Computex — Tuesday - Friday

• Nvidia’s cryptic coordinates point to something significant on the CPU or AI infrastructure side. $ARM and $INTC both worth watching into the event.

NYSE Margin Debt

• Updated monthly. If month-over-month growth continues accelerating toward prior cycle peak levels, this becomes the primary risk to watch. Not there yet — but worth monitoring closely.

The One Thing I’m Actually Concerned About

I want to be straight with you because I think it’s important.

Everything I’ve covered above is constructive. The earnings are historic. The institutional buying at the last hour is relentless — and we’re not even at 5-year cumulative highs yet. Smart money and dumb money are both holding steady. Retail is not puking. Institutions are not rushing for the exits.

But there is one thing I’m watching.

NYSE margin debt as a percentage of growth is approaching levels that have historically preceded the largest corrections of the past 40 years. Dot-com peaked around 75 on this measure. The great financial crisis peaked in a similar range. We are not there. But the month-over-month growth rate is accelerating.

This does not mean it crashes tomorrow. It can stay elevated for months. The growth rate can slow without a crisis. But when someone asks me what the one bear case signal is that I’m monitoring — this is it.

I’m not changing my positioning based on it today. But I’m watching it every month. And so should you.

The Bottom Line

The fundamentals are the strongest I’ve seen in a quarter century of trading. The rotation from semis into software and cyber is already underway. The hardware cycle is broadening into $DELL, $HPE, and the infrastructure layer. And institutions are buying into the close every single day.

The bubble crowd is looking at charts and ignoring earnings. Don’t make that mistake.

Watch Computex. Watch $HPE on Monday. Watch $CRWD and $PANW on Tuesday. And keep one eye on margin debt — not because it’s a problem today, but because it’s the one metric that would tell you when this cycle is getting long in the tooth.

They missed the point.

Nvidia crushed it — 75% gross margins, another beat, another drop after hours. Same script, eighth quarter in a row. But the three events that actually matter for where this goes next had nothing to do with Nvidia. And I don’t think most people are aware of all three, let alone the depth of what they mean.

Let’s get into it.

The macro is getting less murky. The fundamentals are getting stronger. The technicals are confirming both.

The Three Events That Actually Matter

Before we get into setups I want to spend time on what I think most people missed this week — because these three things change the roadmap for semis and hardware more than anything Nvidia said on Wednesday night.

Event 1: Lisa Su told you the CPU supercycle is just getting started.

At an event in Taipei that most people weren’t even watching, AMD’s CEO said the CPU market is growing more than 35% annually over the next five years. To put that in context — on AMD’s last conference call she said 30% annually. It’s already growing faster than she thought.

Just six to twelve months ago, nobody was talking about a CPU shortage. Now it’s the primary bottleneck. And here’s the part that really matters: even if hyperscalers keep their spending flat — which they’re probably not — where those chips go is shifting dramatically. From GPUs into CPUs. From training into inference. The spend isn’t going away. It’s rotating.

Event 2: Nvidia told you the same thing — in a different way.

On the Nvidia conference call, listen to how many times Jensen mentioned CPU. Over and over again. A GPU company telling you it’s a CPU company. They’re speeding up their CPU launch by a full quarter — from Q4 to Q3 — and partnering with $ARM to get there. Bernstein upgraded $ARM ahead of Nvidia’s print because they saw this coming.

If Nvidia uses its distribution model to push $ARM architecture into every CPU deployment, what does that do to $ARM revenues? People are looking at the valuation and saying it doesn’t make sense. They’re not asking the right question.

Event 3: Samsung avoided the strike — and almost nobody understands what that means for DRAM pricing.

Samsung controls roughly 40% of all memory chip supply. A full strike would have been a real supply shock. Instead, they reached an 11th hour deal. And the read-through is not that DRAM prices drop — it’s that supply stability was preserved in an environment where demand is already outpacing capacity.

SK Hynix offered ASML 15% above machine price just to get equipment delivered faster. These are $400 million machines. They are paying a premium above list price to get them sooner. That is not what you do when demand is slowing.

When the GPU king calls itself a CPU company, AMD says the market is growing faster than she predicted, and the world’s largest memory supplier narrowly avoids a production shutdown — all in the same week — you pay attention.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $AMD / $INTC — The CPU Trade Is the Next Leg

• CPU market growing 35%+ annually for five years — faster than anyone predicted

• $INTC back above its 12-day moving average — range now between $100 and $133

• $AMD cup and handle forming on the weekly — range between $391 and $475

Most people are still thinking about this as a GPU story. The money is rotating into CPU. $AMD and $INTC are the most direct expressions of that trade. This is the setup I think has the most runway over the next 6 to 12 months.

📌 $MU / $SNDK / $EWY — DRAM Pricing Stays Elevated

• Samsung deal removes the supply shock risk — pricing pressure stays intact

• $EWY trading at 12-13x earnings with Samsung and SK Hynix as core holdings

• DRAM pricing up roughly 10x — and the CPU buildout is going to need significantly more memory

People look at how far $MU and $SNDK have run and say they missed it. They’re not looking at what the demand curve looks like five years out as CPU deployments scale. I’m still long and the thesis hasn’t changed.

📌 $DELL / $HPE — Hardware Is Broadening

• Lenovo reported a 21 billion AI server pipeline with demand outpacing supply — direct read-through to $DELL

• $DELL surged 15% on Friday — Lenovo’s results were the real catalyst

• $HPE breaking out — Juniper acquisition growing 150% year-over-year, now a third of revenues

The hyperscaler money is not disappearing. It’s moving from GPUs into servers, storage, and networking infrastructure. $DELL and $HPE are the next boxes in that sequence. $DELL reports this week — Lenovo already gave you the read-through.

📌 $ARM — The Nvidia Partnership Is Not Priced In

• $NVDA speeding up CPU launch from Q4 to Q3 — partnering with $ARM on architecture

• If Nvidia uses its distribution model to push $ARM into every CPU deployment, revenues scale dramatically

• Bernstein upgraded ahead of Nvidia earnings — they saw this coming

People are looking at $ARM’s valuation and saying it’s too expensive. That’s the wrong framework. The question is where revenues go if Nvidia’s distribution puts $ARM architecture into every major CPU deployment. Watch for analyst upgrades to accelerate.

📌 $ESOX vs $ASOX — The Rotation Signal Inside Semis

• Equal-weight semis ($ESOX) breaking out ahead of AI−weighted semis ($ASOX)

• Every time $ESOX leads, $ASOX breaks out the next session — happened again this week

• $TXN breaking out. $ADI starting to turn. Analog names broadening the rally

When the equal-weight leads the AI-weighted index, the rally is broadening. This is not a one or two stock story anymore. The entire semiconductor complex is rotating higher — and the analog names are the last to move. That’s where I’m looking for the next entry.

What I’m Watching This Week

$DELL Earnings

• Lenovo already gave you the setup. Watch AI server commentary and management guidance on infrastructure demand.

$MU / $SNDK

• Samsung deal removes supply risk. DRAM pricing stays elevated. The thesis is intact.

$ARM

• Nvidia CPU partnership is not priced in. Watch for analyst upgrades and any commentary on architecture licensing deals.

30-Year Yield

• Correlation with $SPY remains tight. Any move back above 5% is a headwind worth watching.

The Bottom Line

Three events this week — AMD’s CPU supercycle call, Samsung’s 11th hour deal, and Lenovo’s AI server blowout — just redrew the map for semis and hardware.

The macro is getting clearer. The fundamentals are getting stronger. And the rotation inside the semiconductor complex — from AI-weighted names into equal-weight, analog, and CPU-adjacent names — is telling you exactly where the next leg of this trade is going.

The hyperscaler money isn’t going away. It’s just moving. Figure out where it’s moving next and be there before everyone else is.

The index looks okay. Under the surface, a significant rotation is already underway.

The Bond Market Signal Nobody Is Watching

I want to spend time on this before we get into setups because I don’t think people are truly getting how important this is.

The 30-year yield closed above 5% on Friday. That is not just a number — that is a weekly close at a level not seen since July 2007. Weekly closes matter because that is when institutions are rebalancing. They are telling you something with their positioning.

At the same time, bond insurance — measured by the $MOVE index — jumped 15% on Friday. They are buying protection on bonds. That is not what you see when institutions are comfortable.

Here is why this matters for equities:

The equity risk premium is breaking down.

The equity risk premium is simply the earnings yield on the $SPY minus the 10-year rate. When that number drops, stocks become less attractive relative to bonds. Right now it has broken to its lowest level in over 20 years. If yields keep rising and earnings don’t accelerate fast enough to offset them, institutions will shift money from stocks into bonds. It’s that simple.

Start watching the 30-year yield. Start watching $MOVE. These are telling you more about what’s coming than anything you’ll read on financial Twitter.

This does not mean the market is about to collapse. It means the environment is getting harder to trade and you need to be more selective about where you have exposure. One foot in, one foot ready.

📌 $CIBR / $CRWD — Cyber Security Is the Trade Nobody Is Discussing

• $CIBR hitting all-time highs while the broad market sells off

• Institutions buying cyber aggressively into Friday’s close — one of the only sectors up on a down day

• $CRWD and $PANW absolutely ripping — the street is still way behind on this

When a sector goes to all-time highs while everything else sells, that is not noise. That is a message. Institutions are rotating into cyber ahead of earnings and ahead of the crowd.

How do I know the street isn’t there yet? Because when you compare $CIBR to the $QQQ and $SOX on a relative basis over the past month, the divergence is unmistakable. They are buying this while selling everything else. That doesn’t happen by accident.

📌 $MU / $SNDK — DRAM Faces a Critical Test

• Samsung union resumes pay talks Monday — strike resolution may be closer than the market thinks

• If the strike ends, DRAM pricing likely drops — $MU $SNDK $SKHY all get hit on that news

• Selling volume over the past two days has exceeded any single day of buying volume during the entire run up

Here is the key thing to watch: when the Samsung strike resolves, look at what Samsung’s stock does. If it rips, the market is telling you DRAM pricing holds. If it drops, the market is telling you pricing is about to come down — and that is a sell signal for the entire DRAM complex.

I’m still long these names. But I’m watching that signal closely and I know exactly where my stops are.

📌 $CSCO / $HPE — Follow the Hyperscaler Money

• $CSCO guided $5.4B in hyperscaler demand — actual demand came in at $9B

• $HPE breaking out — Juniper acquisition growing 150% year-over-year, now a third of revenues

• Money is flowing from memory into networking and infrastructure

Think about the AI trade as a sequence of boxes. Compute came first — that was $NVDA. Then connectivity — that was $AVGO. Then memory and storage. Now the money is moving into the infrastructure layer. $CSCO and $HPE are the next boxes. This is early and most people are not positioned for it yet.

Everyone wants to fight about where data centers go. The capital doesn’t care. It just moves to the next location. I own $EQIX and see no reason to change that.

📌 $IGV — Bouncing But Not Fixed

• $IGV making higher highs — but is this cheap or just oversold?

• $ORCL holding above its 55-day — added to my long-term position on the retest

• The same people who puked these names are now chasing the bounce

The bounce is real. But don’t confuse oversold with fundamentally recovered. The long $SMH / short $IGV pair trade has weakened but it has not reversed. I would not be aggressively adding software here. Know where you are in the food chain before you chase this move.

Samsung Strike Resolution

• Watch Samsung’s stock reaction the moment a deal is announced — that tells you everything about where DRAM pricing goes next

30-Year Yield & $MOVE

• If bond insurance keeps rising and the 30-year holds above 5%, the equity risk premium story gets worse before it gets better

Cyber Security Earnings

• $CRWD and $PANW reporting soon — institutions are already positioned ahead of these. The question is how much is priced in.

$SPY Breadth

• The 50% line on the 200-day moving average is the line I do not want to lose. Once institutions see that break, they hit the brakes. We are not there yet — but we are watching it.

The Bottom Line

The market is not broken. But it is rotating — and rotating fast.

The 30-year yield is sending a warning. Bond insurance is spiking. DRAM is rolling over on Samsung headline risk. And while all of that is happening, cyber security is quietly going to all-time highs on the back of institutional buying that most traders aren’t even aware of.

The money is moving. The question is whether you’re in front of it or chasing it.

Be selective. Keep your head on a swivel. And watch what Samsung does when that strike resolves — it will tell you more about the next move in semis than anything else you’ll see this week.

It’s easy to underestimate how central they are.

But the numbers matter:

Now layer that into the current regime:

• AI server demand exploding

• HBM memory already tight

• GPU supply chains stretched

• Hyperscalers aggressively securing capacity

So when Samsung supply gets even potentially disrupted…

$SNDK is a different expression of the same theme.

What’s driving it:

Most traders assume “it’s extended.”

But in supply-driven cycles, that assumption is usually wrong.

Momentum doesn’t end when people think it’s expensive.

$EWY — The Korea Macro Link

This is the cleaner macro hedge/expressions piece.

Samsung = Korea index weight.

So $EWY becomes a direct read on outcomes.

The One Thing Everyone Is Getting Wrong

Before we get into setups, I want to address the elephant in the room — because it’s the thing I keep hearing over and over and it’s costing people money.

“I missed it.”

Let me ask you a different question. How do you know you missed it?

When the market was rolling over earlier this year, it wasn’t because earnings were bad. It was because nobody knew what was going to happen with tariffs, the strait, the macro picture. The market hates uncertainty. It sold off because of uncertainty — not fundamentals.

Then earnings season started. 83% of S&P companies beat and raised guidance. Not beat. Beat and raised. And the market ripped.

So before you say you missed it, ask yourself: did you say earnings were going to be bad? Because if you didn’t, why are you surprised that the market went higher?

Ask yourself better questions and you’ll get better answers. The bias that says “I missed it” is the same bias that keeps people out of the best trades.

The Institutional Picture: This Is Not a Short Squeeze

There’s a chart I watch closely — the last hour cumulative advance/decline line for $SPY. It measures how aggressively institutions are buying into the close, which is when they tend to move.

What it’s showing right now is unlike anything I have on record.

The speed and rate of institutional accumulation coming off this bottom is stronger than anything I can find going back decades. Stronger than the pandemic bounce. Stronger than the 2022 bottom. The closest comparable I found was 1998 — and even that wasn’t this aggressive.

Here’s what matters: when institutions are buying this hard and the market is moving commensurately with that buying, it means there is very little supply. People are not trying to get out. That’s a completely different dynamic than most prior bottoms where institutions were absorbing heavy retail selling.

The Fundamental Case: Storage and Memory Are Still Cheap

Let me give you the actual numbers from this earnings season because I think people are still not grasping what happened.

$WDC / $SNDK

• Data center revenue up 251% year-over-year

• Expected to earn $22 — came in at $34

• Gross margins crossed 50% for the first time in company history

• EPS up 289% year-over-year

$MU

• Record $23.86B fiscal revenue, up 200% year-over-year

• Largest sequential revenue jump in company history

• Responsible for roughly 50% of all S&P earnings growth on a percentage basis

$STX

• Non-GAAP gross margins hit 47% — up 1,000 basis points

• EPS of $4.10, up 115% year-over-year

When $STX and $SNDK were down Thursday evening after these numbers, we got involved. Because when a company posts the largest sequential revenue jump in its history and the stock goes down after hours, that’s not a fundamental problem. That’s an opportunity.

The PEG ratio on these names — meaning what you’re paying relative to their growth rate — is historically low. Not just low. Historically low. The growth is actually accelerating faster than the stock prices are moving. That is an objective fact.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Still the Core Position

• Largest sequential revenue jump in $MU’s history — the cycle is not over

• $SNDK backlling cleanly after its breakout bar — holding the move

• PEG ratio historically cheap even after the run

People keep asking if they missed this. The company just posted its best quarter ever.

📌 $STX / $WDC — Storage Breakout Confirmed

• $STX broke out Friday on massive volume — institutions making sure they were filled by end of week

• Gross margins crossing 50% for the first time is not a one-quarter event — it signals pricing power

• Analysts upgrading price targets by hundreds of points, not tens

Fridays with institutional volume like this are meaningful.

📌 $INTC — The Pig That Became a Setup

• Beat EPS estimates by 2,800% last quarter

• Data center CPU demand accelerating — every data center being built needs processors

• Breaking out of a multi-year base — measured move target puts this significantly higher

I’ve been calling this a pig for years. The earnings changed my mind. When you do the work — listen to the call, read the transcript, run the bull and bear case — you understand why institutions are buying it.

📌 $GOOG / $AMZN — The AI Race Winners Are Clear

• $GOOG and $AMZN are cementing their positions as the structural winners of the AI buildout

• AWS getting stronger — watch how they characterize Anthropic usage on future calls

• Both names have the infrastructure, the distribution, and the balance sheet to win

The losers are also getting clearer. $META can’t tell you what they’re doing with their AI spend. OpenAI may have cash flow issues. The winners are concentrating.

📌 $AXTI + Second Tier Optics — The Next Wave

• $AXTI posted a monster earnings move and broke out cleanly

• Optic names starting to set up ahead of their earnings — people are trying to get ahead of them

• Second tier semi names broadly starting to shape up

The primary semi names have moved. The broadening into second tier optics and analog names is the next leg.

What I’m Watching This Week

Rate Hike Risk

• Fed Watch now showing 9% chance of a hike, 77% no move, 13% cut — this will skew further toward a hike when the next data drops. Watch oil.

$IGV

• Held despite every reason to crack. If it can get and stay above its 55-day, the long/short semi vs software pair trade needs to be reassessed.

Oil Divergence

• Crude dropping while rhetoric stays hot. When price and narrative diverge this sharply, something is happening under the surface that I don’t have full visibility into. This is the wild card nobody is buying protection for.

$AAPL

• Institutions sold hard on Friday. Interesting quarter but hardware cycle concerns remain. Watch how it acts early in the week.

The Bottom Line

The institutions are not covering shorts. They are buying. The earnings are not good — they are historic. The PEG ratios are not expensive — they are historically cheap. And 83% of S&P companies just beat and raised guidance.

The reason most people feel like they missed this is not because they missed it. It’s because they never built the conviction to get involved — and now they’re waiting for a pullback that institutions may not give them.

Stop asking if you missed it. Start asking what’s actually going on and why.

You didn’t miss it. You’re just looking at the wrong things.

This week I want to walk you through why analysts have been catastrophically wrong on semiconductors, what the earnings actually said, and where the money is moving next. There’s also one sector I think is setting up to get absolutely smoked — and the insiders are already telling you everything you need to know.

The index looks great. Under the surface, a significant rotation is underway.

Why Everyone Is Wrong on Semiconductors

Before we get into setups, I want to spend time on the most important thing happening in this market right now — because I think most people are completely misreading it.

Eight major semiconductor companies reported earnings over the past two weeks.

Here is what actually happened:

• $INTC beat EPS estimates by 2,800%

• $STM beat by 225%

• $TXN beat by 21%

• $TSM beat by 17%

• $LRCX beat by 7%

Not even the high end of analyst estimates was close to these numbers. Not even close.

And on guidance — Intel guided significantly higher, Texas Instruments raised, Lam Research raised, Taiwan Semi raised. SK Hynix said demand is so strong they offered ASML 15% above machine price just to get equipment delivered sooner. Read that again. They are paying a premium above the cost of the machine just to get it faster.

This is not a cyclical story. This is a structural demand story. And the gap between what analysts expected and what actually happened is the widest I have seen in this sector in years.

The wider the gap between expectations and outcome, the more money there is to make. Right now that gap is widest in semis — and most people are on the wrong side of it.

When does this turn? When earnings growth slows. Has it slowed? No. It is still accelerating into levels most people aren’t even aware of. Until that changes, the thesis doesn’t change.

The 5 Setups I’m Watching This Week

📌 $MU / $SNDK — Memory Is Still the Trade

• Demand for HBM and DRAM accelerating — Micron responsible for roughly 50% of S&P earnings growth on a percentage basis

• $SNDK flagging cleanly after its breakout bar — holding the move

• Supply cannot keep up with demand at any price point right now

People keep waiting for this trade to be over. The earnings say otherwise. I’m still long and have no reason to change that.

📌 $TXN / $ADI — Analog Semis Breaking Out After a 5-Year Base

• $TXN just hit all-time highs on massive volume after basing for four to five years

• Analog chips go into everything — data centers, industrial, EVs, defense

• Equal-weight semis outperforming AI-weighted semis — this rally is broadening out

Nobody is talking about these names. That’s exactly the point. This is the setup I think most people are going to kick themselves for missing.

📌 $STX / $WDC — Storage Is the Next Move

• Analysts upgrading $STX and $WDC ahead of earnings — not by 10 or 20 points, by hundreds

• Semiconductors go into things. Storage is one of those things.

• Same demand tailwind as memory, earlier in the recognition cycle

If you understand why $MU ran, you understand why storage is next. The street is just now catching up to what the supply-demand picture has been saying for months.

📌 $EQIX / $DLR / $DTCR — Go Global on Data Centers

• US data center buildout hitting energy and regulatory walls

• Capital moving to Malaysia, Singapore, Australia — anywhere energy is cheap and permitting is fast

• $DTCR grinding higher every single week without anyone noticing

This theme is not slowing down. It’s relocating. I own $EQIX and $DLR and I see no reason to change that position.

📌 $ASTS — This Space Trade Is Setting Up to Get Smoked

This is the one people are going to push back on — so let me be direct about what I’m seeing.

• The CTO sold 90% of his stake across multiple transactions in March and April

• A major founder has been liquidating millions of shares into every bounce

• The stock broke its 55-day, is rolling over, and the negative divergences are getting bigger

When a chief technology officer cuts his position by 90%, that is not noise. That is information. And when you overlay it with $GSAT getting bought by Amazon — which changes the competitive landscape significantly — and a legal brief suggesting SpaceX stock may go to creditors rather than the company, the thesis for owning this has materially weakened.

I’m not long this. I’m watching it closely for a short setup below $48.

What I’m Watching This Week

$AMZN Earnings

• Does AWS get rerated based on semi demand? How they characterize Anthropic usage will matter.

Long $SMH / Short $IGV

• Still the cleanest pair trade in the market. Still working. Still not done.

$ASTS

• Needs to hold $48. If it loses that level, the next meaningful support is significantly lower.

Space Sector Broadly

• $GSAT buyout changes the competitive landscape more than people realize. Watch how the other names respond.

The Bottom Line

Everyone is asking whether they missed the semiconductor move. That is the wrong question.

The right question is: where are you relative to what the earnings are actually saying versus what the consensus expects? Right now that gap is enormous — in favor of the bulls. Analog semis are breaking out of multi-year bases. Storage is next. Data centers are going global. And the demand for the equipment that builds all of it is so intense that customers are paying above list price just to get it sooner.

That is not a market that is running out of steam. That is a market that is broadening.

Be on the right side of it.
