Let Our Inner Nature Be

We’re living in the extreme consequences of our stories of separation, in uncertainty, and chaos.

It can feel like our systems are falling apart. Internal and external.

And as passionate changemakers and visionaries, we’re feeling this deeply, and asking “What can I do? What is mine to do, now?”

So I ask, “What happens when we recognize ~ (re)member the power and wisdom of our own (inner) nature?”

Let it guide us. Let it show us, remind us, how our nature is to thrive, in joy.

Portal 2 of my 7 Portals of Remembrance explores deep into this question.

And, Ayahuasca has also shown me. It’s no wonder why this ancestral plant medicine is known as the “key” teacher maestro plant.

Coming upon Ayahuasca

In 2002, I was traveling through South America with a Lonely Planet guidebook. I had no curiosity about psychedelics1 before this. I was working as an art director in Manhattan, successfully climbing up the career ladder.

During a homestay language program in the Peruvian Amazon, a word caught my attention: Ayahuasca. I pointed at the word to my homestay father, and it turned out he often drank medicine with his own maestro teacher. What a coincidence. 😏

I had no idea then that this plant is known to change the course of a person’s life.

My first ceremony was simple and sweet. It didn’t turn my world upside down, right away. These plant medicines work with each person in the way that person needs. I’m a soft character, so the medicine met me softly.

By the third week of what was supposed to be a six-week trip, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave. I canceled my flight home. I didn’t go back to my career in Manhattan.

“Successfully climbing…”

I appreciate that my parents always supported what made me happy; the path that called to me. The path to stay in Peru called to me.

“Successfully climbing the career ladder?…” For some reason, I easily let that go. The pull to continue in these lands, with these deeply connected people, attracted me. Entirely. My entire be*ing.

Because really, what is success?

👁️‍🗨️ Does our education system really support our capacity to learn?

👁️‍🗨️ Does our health system really support our capacity to live healthy lives?

👁️‍🗨️ Do our food systems really support nourishing food for humanity?

These are questions that are getting louder and louder in our general global awareness, as the way we’ve been living stops making — sense.

Ayahuasca brings back hyper-sense.

This ancestral Amazonian plant medicine is known as a master teacher plant — a key to the other teacher plants. For me, she has opened the door to (re)membering our oneness, our relations, so that we can find ourselves again in our highest purpose in this intricate web of life.

Living into her teachings opened me up to remembering my relationship with the land, with people, with parts of life I hadn’t realized I’d lost touch with.

I started to understand “success” differently — grounded in the thriving of all our relations, not just my own.

Ayahuasca climbs successfully, rooting deep into the Earth, reaching up toward Source Sun. Offering medicine and guidance along the way for humanity.

Learning From the Most Humble

Letting my intuition, my nature guide me is what eventually brought me to the Sacred Valley of Cusco, where I met the ethnopharmacologist Dr. Dennis McKenna and curandero (traditional healer) Wayra. Over 10 years ago, we started organizing Ayahuasca conferences together, and I naturally moved into coordinating and supporting the guests who came.

I feel so grateful to have been able to learn from the most humble: Dennis and Wayra.

Two very different teachers. Dennis, from the academic Western world, a world-famous author and lecturer. And Wayra, from the ancestral lineage of a great Ayahuasca master healer, Don Salón Tello. Wayra, humbly and curiously dedicated to his path in medicine and healing, who has also studied with visionary psychiatrists like Stanislav Grof and traveled to the origins of other medicines like Iboga, mescaline, and psilocybin. And knowing that the key maestro medicine for him is Ayahuasca.

Discovering my Codes

Living with the guidance of ancestral plant and fungi medicines has made me more sensitive to my own nature. More humble to listen deeply and trust what wants to emerge — from my essence.

As Wayra says, “it’s not a magic wand.” We still have to do our work. Our inner work, and then, outer work which comes more naturally.

We have work to do. We’ve gotten ourselves, as a humanity, in quite a big mess… the metacrisis… the polyopportunity.

I have been gifted life experience with the most humble, and wise individuals in the world of Ayahuasca: Dennis and Wayra. The least I can do, is offer this forward, to more individuals that are also called to this ancestral medicine.

I offer a journey with Ayahuasca with a lot of respect for the teachings she carries, knowing how much I’ve healed, strengthened, learned and created with her guidance.

I know many of us seek new answers, new ways. Ancestral plant and fungi medicines are present with us, co-inhabiting this ‘home,’ Planet Earth, Pachamama, to teach and guide, for those that are open, ready and humble to receive.

Yet, we move at an accelerated pace towards taking. And taking. As our needs arise and multiply. Like a spoiled child wanting their candy. Relentlessly demanding.

Expecting results.

From our carefully calculated outcomes. Careful, because of the financial consequences. Our job on the line. An economy fracturing. The carefully studied and strategized plan has to work. Because we have the control.

So, what could possibly happen if we “Let Nature Be?”

If we remembered humility.

If we surrendered?

Not to what is larger than you. Or larger than all of humanity. But to the nature of Nature.

Trusting there is a wisdom that sustains life.

Nature’s nature is to thrive.

And our nature to thrive, is in joy.

In our intricate interrelatedness. Of all dimensions of life.

The billions of years of wisdom. Not just from your decades as a consultant with the training of the best business school.

But from all your relations. Seen and unseen. (re)Membering these relations back together.

And asking, humbly, “What is mine to do? Now? For all of life?”

I live in a land known for its portals. Ñaupa Iglesia, Aramu Muru, Machu Picchu. Portals, undated. Ancient, mystical sites with doors carved in rock. Presence opens the doors.

Presence. Opens the doors.

My tendency has always been to go inward. Whether a rock door exists or not. I’ve naturally traveled here, inward, all my life.

In meditation, visions arrive organically. Like doors waiting to be opened. Inspired by everything around me, all of Life — in oneness — our interconnection with the land, the trees, the water, the people, and the unseen.

Our interRELATEdness.

Remembering these relationships, I travel inward, and I never know what’s coming. What’s around the corner. What’s living in the light, and what’s waiting in the shadow. Where the breath will lead, when we allow, surrender and trust.

Trust. In our own breath.

These explorations are leading me to discover the power of the portals that were never etched in stone. They are guided — by invisible companions who are always with us. Our ancestors. The voices of the land under your feet. Mother Earth’s guidance. Cosmic direction.

👁️‍🗨️ Can you imagine? All present, all supporting the path, unfolding toward our highest purpose. For you.

I’ve learned to trust these unmarked paths — exploring, discovering inward. Why not? They’ve opened worlds literally beyond my imagination. Because they don’t come from imagination.

They come from guidance, from an unseen but deeply trusted dimension of remembrance, with all our relations.

During the trip back to origin, beyond our ancestral lineage, we (re)member something:

They are all members of me. Of “I.” Of who I am.

And when we bring these members back into relation — back together — we gain access to the healing, the wisdom, the guidance, the teaching. Carried across all these dimensions, through all these timelines.

That’s pretty powerful.

Empowering.

Our body. The principal portal.

There is a subtle manifestation on the physical level, too. When I enter these portal spaces, something shifts in my body — subtle movements that arrive into my body. I’ve always been someone who relates to the world through movement.

One of the most blissful memories of my childhood: dancing for hours with a friend in her backyard, to Madonna, in total bliss. Two open channels for the sheer joy of being alive and in shared movement, with each other and with life.

I’m grateful I can still access that. Life force, the breath itself, moving through my fingers, hands, arms, shoulders, hips, knees, feet — to the very tips. Ecstatic movement. Ecstatic dance. Opening my inner portals through movement, with life. In harmony, frequency, and gratitude. In remembrance with all my relations.

Life’s nature is to thrive

Life’s nature is to thrive. And for a human being, thriving lives in joy — the kind of joy we knew as children. Open. Curious. Trusting of what life offers. As children of the Earth, children of the Cosmos, the water, our ancestors.

But here’s what I sit with. When I look at the scale of what we’re facing, the decisions we make today determining the survival conditions our children and grandchildren will inherit — I can’t understand how we keep overlooking guidance that surpasses centuries of academic theory and hypothesis. The guidance Indigenous peoples have always pointed to, woven into the genetic coding of all life.

Nature already knows. We only have to remember that we are part of Nature. We are Nature.

I think this is part of why so much of the world feels the way it does right now. Anxiety. Depression. A kind of low-grade grief that so many of us are carrying and rarely naming. We are trying to force change through the same old paradigms of disconnection that created the crisis in the first place. And it isn’t working — because it can’t. It wasn’t built to nurture connection.

Without needing to ask, Nature is always guiding.

It just takes a small refinement of our listening skills.

When we face a decision or a path ahead, we often start analyzing, strategizing, engaging our neurological pathways. Our minds.

But what if we accessed a diversity of sources of wisdom we’ve forgotten we carry?

The wisdom embodied in our ancestors. Our indigeneity. Our earth connection. Our cosmic knowing.

The Biodiversity of Our Intelligence

We understand the importance of biodiversity in ecology, in our natural systems. It adds richness. Resilience. Ingenuity.

Remembering our Interrelatedness

I’ve thrived on diversity. Los Angeles public high school at Narbonne, no majority race. White was the minority. A mix of nerds, athletes, junkies, gangsters, divas. As a natural leader, I found myself organizing new school activities that brought us together. Dances. Fairs. Club outings.

Years later in a small, divided Ecuadorian town: politically elite, farmers, Indigenous, mestizos, backpackers, hippies, expats doing business and expats retired. I was naturally called to create a Cultural Community Center, a local newspaper written by the youth, and public fairs to bring people together.

The Darker the Dark, the Brighter the Bright

In one of my most confused, darkest moments in my career, somehow the wisdom of my ancestors came forth. I remembered my lineage. The strength I’ve been gifted from their suffering and successes. And it was my turn.

To honor those lessons. To stop repeating old patterns. To consciously create a more awakened, aligned path. Not just for me, but for generations forward. This was honoring my heritage.

Remembering my role in this rEvolution. With trust and courage.

Our Collective rEvolution

I see us, humanity, in a particular moment in our timeline. It can appear as darkness, doubt, and fear. Yet I know that in these circumstances, the spark shines brightest. It’s simple physics.

And this is where collective wisdom matters most. Not only amongst people, but from within each person.

Bring the members back together — all your relations, seen and unseen. Listen to their guidance.

Because life’s nature, is to thrive.

And thriving, for me, is in joy. The type of joy that brings tears to your eyes.

I didn’t know that I came to the Sacred Valley to remember.

(Re)member my place. As a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, mother, woman, human being. With all of Life.

I thought I was taking a six-week vacation between jobs. And now over twenty years has passed.

I had no idea I was arriving at a threshold.

The Meaning of (Re)Member

As I’ve reflected on this word, through twenty years of living it — through my actions, through watching what unfolds when I practice it — I’ve discovered something.

(Re)member is not about recalling the past. It’s about bringing together what has been lost to membership. To bring members back into wholeness.

(Re)member. To make whole again.

When we’ve been fragmented by separation, by the stories of “me versus you,” by forgetting our connection to the Earth, to our ancestors, to the cosmos, we’ve lost members of ourselves. Parts of our belonging. Parts of our wholeness.

Remembrance is the act of bringing those lost members together. Again.

And when you truly practice it? When you begin to remember that you are a member of something much larger? A member of your lineage, a member of the Earth community, a member of all of Life… Something shifts.

You don’t just think differently. You act differently. You create differently. You move through the world from an entirely different source. The Source of Life.

Twenty Years of Unstoppable Service

This is what happened to me.

When I arrived in the Sacred Valley, I began to remember. Through the people. Through the land. Through the sacred sites. Through the initiation that found me here.

And as I remembered my place as a daughter in a lineage, as a woman in a society, as a human being woven into all of Life — something became unstoppable.

Not forceful. Not driven by ego or ambition.

Simply fed and inspired by life’s energy itself.

My commitment to social and environmental initiatives didn’t come from burnout or desperation. It came from remembrance. From a deep ancestral and earth knowing, that I am not separate from the communities I serve, not separate from the land, not separate from the future generations.

So how could I not show up?

What began as one small idea blossomed into:

• Public forums sponsored by the Municipality

• Television programs during prime time

• Radio broadcasts reaching thousands

• Educational initiatives moving through institutions

• Environmental and social projects addressing the fractures in our oneness

Unstoppable. Not because I was pushing harder. Because Life itself was moving through me.

When you remember that you are a member of something whole. When you step into your actual place in the web of relations… you become a channel for something much larger than your individual effort.

Your regenerative efforts become regenerative. Naturally.

Ayni: Reciprocity as Remembrance

In the Andean tradition, there’s a sacred practice called ayni.

It translates loosely as reciprocity, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a way of being. It’s ingrained in how life flows here throughout the Andes.

The principle is simple: When you help the other, you are also helping yourself. Because we are all connected. We are all related. In oneness.

It’s not transactional. It’s not “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”

How can one take, abuse, or extract a resource? Giving nothing back, not even gratitude, when we understand we are all one?

Living ayni in the Andes broke something open in me.

It wasn’t enough to understand intellectually that we’re all connected. I had to live it. Practice it. Feel it in my choices, my relationships, my work.

Every time I gave without expectation of return, I was practicing remembrance. Every time I gave with gratitude, I was acknowledging the web of relation I’m woven into.

And mysteriously, when you practice ayni — when you truly give from the understanding of oneness — the universe responds. Doors open. Resources flow. Not because the universe is a cosmic vending machine, but because you’ve stopped operating from scarcity and separation.

You’ve remembered.
Oneness.
Abundance.
Of Life.

An Initiation in Disguise

I came upon a moment when remembrance wasn’t an option. When it became a matter of survival. Not physical survival, but the survival of my integrity, my voice, my truth.

I was in a work environment where I gave everything I had. My full heart, my full capacity, my innovation and care.

And I was being diminished. Disrespected. My words were being manipulated to make me smaller. My presence treated as someone’s obstacle.

As a woman from Japanese traditions, I had been taught to be respectful in the face of conflict, which meant to stay respectfully quiet. To keep the peace at the expense of myself.

I could have chosen that path. It would have been the “easier” way. The way my women ancestry had always chosen and taught their daughters to choose.

But something moved through me that wasn’t mine alone.

I tapped into the deeper knowing of my ancestors.

Not through thinking. Through listening. Through a pause deep enough to hear beyond my individual fear.

The women of my lineage rose up inside me. They had suffered enough. They had persevered enough. They had endured enough silence. My grandfather rose up, who had always authentically and shamelessly spoken his truth.

And here I was. In this time and space, with a choice to make.

But it wasn’t just my choice.

I felt it as a choice for my daughter. For my granddaughter. For all the daughters and granddaughters to come. For every woman in my lineage who had waited for someone like me to seize this moment in our timeline.

I chose for my lineage.

I chose to speak my truth. I chose to name what was happening. I chose to say no to the manipulation and the disrespect.

I didn’t do it from anger or defense. I did it from rootedness. From the past. From the future. From the deepest knowing that my voice mattered. Not because I’m special, but because I’m a link in a chain of ancestors, women and men, who have been waiting for this moment.

Making that choice was an initiation.

It cracked something open that has never closed again.

Remembrance as the Source of Action

From that moment forward, I understood something visceral: remembrance isn’t passive. It’s the most active, powerful thing you can do.

When I remember where I come from, and where I’m going beyond self, I act differently, for all my relations.

When I practice ayni, I create differently.
From abundance, from reciprocity, from oneness.

When I tap into ancestral wisdom, I show up differently.
With clarity, with strength, with authority rooted not in ego but in lineage.

Remembrance changes how we move through the world.

Not because we suddenly become enlightened or perfect. But because we’ve reconnected to something larger than our individual confusion, our individual fear, our individual patterns.

Your Initiation into Remembrance

For over twenty years, I’ve discovered this: remembrance is a practice. Accessible through trust. Action. Available there for you, always.

Within each of us, there’s an inner wisdom ~ ancestral, embodied, accessible.

Your own lineage speaks.
Your own body knows.
The Earth communicates.
Your cosmic relations are always accompanying.

But we’ve been trained to look everywhere else for answers: to experts, to systems, to anyone but ourselves.

Tomorrow is August 1st. Día de la Pachamama, as celebrated in the Andes. The day of Mother Earth.

A year ago this date marked the start of something I didn’t fully understand I was beginning. It’s a significant day of beginning for the Andean people, the beginning of their agricultural cycle, the cycle of life sustenance.

And on this very special day, I started a seven-day personal challenge for my Substack audience. Seven days of sitting with my cacao, a ritual I’d already been keeping for over a decade. Seven days with my Queuña tree, the Water Guardian of these high Andes. Seven days of writing to you, here, about whatever rose up in the meditation.

I thought I was just showing up for a challenge.

By the seventh day, something in me had shifted. Not gradually, but in this instance of journeying my seventh meditation with Pachamama.

I looked back over the six days before it, and realized I hadn’t just written seven entries. I’d walked through a journey. And the message waiting for me on the other side was simple: this was not only mine to journey, it’s to be shared.

Not as advice. Not as a teaching from me. As a remembering. Of the oneness that’s always here, the ever-present, accessible when we pause and listen. Deeply.

Now, after a year…

That seven-day remembrance became the seed for everything I nourish today. I keep on hearing (and feeling!) “these are moving times.”

Is something in you calling for a sacred pause? Even just this once, to align with the Full Moon and the shift of the Soulstice Sun? What might your soul be waiting to tell you?

One of the things that makes me fall in love, again and again, with the people and culture of the Andes is their relationship with nature. With Mother Earth. Pachamama.

It is not learned through academics. It is not acquired through technology or expertise. It’s a part of the interrelatedness that permeates deep in the culture.

I continue to learn through simply living here, through ceremony, through the land itself… that it requires only one thing:

The willingness to listen. Deeply.

Pachamama, Mother Earth, speaks to everyone. She always has. We have simply forgotten how to hear her.

In the Sacred Valley, this listening permeates daily life. The Apukuna, the mountain deities, are not just a majestic backdrop for tourist photos. They are present. Protecting. Guiding. Teaching.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius arrives as an invitation.

For those dedicating their paths to the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible: the systems changers, the regenerative visionaries, the ones walking toward what hasn’t yet been named… this introspective journey with the Moon speaks directly to you.

The vast ocean mesmerizes. Just hours ago, it reminded me of how beautiful life can be: all the hues of blue, sunshine shimmering off perfectly rolling waves, the depth of love that the simplicity of Nature can remind us of.

And in a blink, the weather changes.

🌬️ 🌊

The winds come, emotionally shifting me to my edges.

The boat rocks, challenging my balance to stay in my center. I feel the deep impact of electrifying lighting.

And even after I seek refuge, my attention wants to go back to the storm, the spectacle, the forces causing unbelievably agitating movements.

This is what our minds do. They seek the drama. The construction of stories of separation and destruction.

Social media algorithms have proven it: we’re more attracted to negative messages than positive ones. Our attention gets pulled to what’s chaotic, what’s threatening, what’s rocking the boat.

And right now? “Turbulent times” doesn’t even do justice to what it feels like, especially for the contemplative empath.

Living Through Rapidly Changing Weathers

I am witnessing and feeling the inner dimensions on so many levels. And hearing references to global news, I realize we are all witnessing and living rapidly changing weathers.

Our worlds, inner and outer, are facing a different quality of change like never before in our lifetimes.

Like a storm washing away what doesn’t serve anymore, for a renovated, upgraded humanity, to a more authentic and liberated state of BE-ing.

emphasized over a call: in these times of accelerated transition to the ‘new human,’ there’s no time to hold on — to the past, to resentment, to what doesn’t support the vision we hold for a healthier humanity.

Change Fatigue is Real

Lee Harris, in his May energy update, named something I’ve been feeling:

“Change fatigue or change resistance. Which is which? It’s completely normal to feel change fatigue right now... If you have strong resistance to initiating more change in your life, trust it. It will pass and reset and you will find your will rising at the right moment for you.”

He continues:

“When we’re fatigued or exhausted, we don’t have much will... We’re really in recovery mode. We’re in ‘draw in the energy, let myself catch up with everything I’ve been through.’ I can’t engage with what’s going on out there…”

“…Anyone who is sensory and feeling in the way they process the world, or anyone who’s just feeling heartbroken or horrified or shocked by many of the things going on around the world. Change fatigue is real.”

Do we choose to find the eye of the storm? Do we seek another perspective to the storm?

The Emotional Charge of the Storm

Finding breath to make its way to calm the emotional electrifying charge, I start witnessing the movements of the storm:

Life-threatening chaos on the surface… the rocking boat, the lightning, the thunder, all creating agitation in the layers and expressions of life.

And that agitation opens an opportunity, maybe even an invitation.

Not to focus on what’s causing the rocking, nor the impact of negative electrical charges onto oneself from the lightning strikes.

But to go deeper.

👁️‍🗨️ What if the chaos on the surface is an invitation to explore dimensions of self we’ve never touched?

👁️‍🗨️ What if, in the depths, beneath the rocking, beneath the storm, there are new realizations waiting about what love, the eternal current, actually looks like in deeper dimensions?

Love’s Infinite Unfolding

We live through the exploration of love, in its entire spectrum, all the way to its complementary ‘opposite.’ I imagine this is a never-ending journey through the decades we live in this body.

We are human beings who thrive from love. We’ve always known this. And yet, for some reason, we fall into dynamics at the other extreme: hate, hurt, separation, destruction.

Why?

I don’t know if it’s because our minds seek to be active, constructing stories that leave the voice of our hearts in the darkness. I don’t know if it’s the programming, the systems, the generational patterns we’ve been surviving through.

But I know this: I am inviting myself to shift my attention.

Not to the rocking of the boat. Not to the factors that caused it. Not to the feelings about the rocking.

But to my depths. What can be there to explore and learn?

Space and Grace

Lee Harris offers this guidance:

“Take a breath. Take a moment. Try and give yourself some grace to feel what you need to feel. But don’t act on your first reaction if you can... This is us developing more space inside ourselves with everything that’s going on, which I know is not easy, but if there’s ever been a time to develop your nervous system and your ability to hold yourself and hold space and stay connected to good people who are your community who can help you do that, this is the time.”

Remembering grace, to make the space.

In moments where emotions cause extreme reactions, where the storm feels overwhelming, where the rocking throws us completely off center: how do we transition? How do we shift our focus and attention to the space of grace?

👁️‍🗨️ Is it a reminder to take a deep breath?
👁️‍🗨️ An intervention of humor?
👁️‍🗨️ A pause?

Because I know I’m not the only one. We are experiencing turbulent times on levels we never imagined would come.

👁️‍🗨️ How do you transition? Gracefully? Spaciously?

Journey into the Depths

I travel into this internal exploration… into the abyss of light, love, and darkness within myself. I’m on a mission to discover.

For a new expanded understanding. A new embodiment of what love means for me.

And from this place, I emerge back to the surface of life.

I feel into what was once a life-threatening rocking ship, the stormy weather, the lightning and thunder and dark clouds.

And suddenly, the view looks and feels different.

Not because the storm changed. But because I went beneath it. Because I discovered something in the depths that my mind couldn’t construct or generational patterns couldn’t hijack.

“…So You Grow Up To Be Strong.”

I’m wondering: How did the social systems I grew up in, measure strength?

“Do this and that… so you grow up to be strong,” we’re told. How was “strength” qualified?

👁️‍🗨️ What would our world look like if we measured strength not by mental capacity or resilience to survive, but by the heart’s ability, to simply be love and express love?

I have no doubt that at some point in human civilization, strength was measured by the heart’s capacity to “be” love and express love.

I am here on my path to remember.

This Full Moon Portal of Remembrance began differently.

Not in a live gathering, but in solo ceremony — creating an offering to share with anyone in the world called to tap into this Portal. An invitation across all continents, all waters, all visionaries walking paths in service to Life.

The offering emerged at the base of my queuña tree, the endemic water guardian of the Andes, in my backyard in the Sacred Valley.

It began with water.

Calling in our water memories from 4.5 billion years ago. A k’intu offered to my family and the families that have gathered through my various circles of the 7-Day Remembrance with Pachamama, spanning five continents since last year.

The Spiral Unfolds

The first flower that called my attention was the white rose.

The white luminescence of the Moon. Its brightness and purity. Sustaining the center of our collective water wisdom and the visions and prayers put into our daily action by the collective of visionaries I’ve been blessed to share with through these circles.

As I placed the white petals down, the feeling of a spiral came. Allowing these petals to spiral around our visions and prayers.

I was feeling into how this spiral would grow into the different colors: white, pink, fuchsia-edged petals. And it became playful. Spontaneous.

Can we remember?… In the midst of feeling heaviness or disconnect, to remember the power of playfulness and lightness.

How revitalizing can this be for me, for you, for all of us?

Maybe this playfulness in the spiral will remind us: from the depths of the collective water wisdom we all carry, that the necessary and timely messages, guidance, and teachings emerge from our Oneness.

Pollination

The stamens emerged after taking off all the petals of the roses. From the middle, from the center. Quietly knowing its time for emergence.

When I placed these into our water wisdom in the center bowl, it felt like pollination spreading. In a regenerative, blossoming, thriving way. Life energy. From all our visions and initiatives.

The Black Sheep

The black alpaca I included was a reminder. A tribute to the black sheep, the black alpacas, the ones that think differently. The ones who know how to trust being present in the liminal space and know that there is an inner star holding each of us, to something larger.

I took my own medicine today.

Sitting in the energy of alignment with the Earth, Moon and Sun as we pass these particular cosmic energies, I created a pause in my morning to journey into the meditation I channeled for the Full Moon Portal of Remembrance in early April, a portal I open every full moon.

This time I wasn’t channeling the meditation, I was listening deeper into what wanted to emerge through the moment’s journey that I had guided a few weeks ago.

And Mama Killa, Mother Moon, and Taita Inti, Father Sun, had three messages for me.

1. The Power of Alignment

The alignment of our major celestial bodies carries extraordinary energy. Multiple planets gathering in Aries during the lunation — a rare concentration of initiating, igniting, forward-moving force.

First, this comes with surrendering. Into a sacred pause, with my cacao and copoazú mix, and 26 minutes of listening deeply. Finding the spark within the momentum of cosmic alignment: Sun, Moon, and Earth in perfect accord.

This alignment isn’t just celestial geometry. It’s potential. Power. The gravitational pull of these cosmic bodies grounding into us — human beings inhabiting this Earth — opening us to the guidance, the wisdom, the teachings these ancient celestial bodies carry.

2. Ignition of my Solar Plexus

Alignment with ourselves, with these cosmic forces, with what wants to emerge through me, through us… led me to an activation of my solar plexus. Solar. Sun. Taita Inti.

Bring Forth Action.

The state of the world carries so much pressure from the outside. Messages of fear. Separation. Especially separation from ourselves and we don’t even realize it because of the distractions.

We are being called, with stronger agency each day, to express forth through the power of our solar plexus into our environments, our families, our communities, the planet — for Life.

To act from alignment, not reaction.

Alignment with our Sun, Taita Inti. His guidance, wisdom, teachings. Power. Of Transformation. Always abundantly available.

For those that choose to align.

3. Expansiveness of my Heart

The third message came as a reminder I could always use…

Heart.

The expansiveness, the power of our heart chakra. To hold myself in this heart space first and foremost, because that frequency naturally blossoms open to share with others around me.

Especially in these turbulent, moving times.

Always come back to heart.

Practical Integration

The meditation led me deeper… teaching me on how to integrate these messages into my daily life. How do the Moon and Sun want me to carry this remembrance forward? Forward, as action in my life?

Three guidance tips emerged:

1. Hands over heart. Simply placing my hands over my heart. Reminding myself: it’s right here. In my center. This simple gesture will always bring me back. Remember.

2. Make more time to meditate, write, and share. Especially here on Substack, and into the more corporate space of LinkedIn. Because we all seek to remember what the unseen dimensions of life are whispering to us… especially in these times of so much noise. Remember.

3. Bare feet on the Earth. The power of Earth, our Mother Source. Remembering that we are beings inhabiting this planet, always in accompaniment with these celestial bodies, particularly our closest relatives, Mama Killa and Taita Inti, who always carry a plethora of guidance, teaching and wisdom for us to show up more humanly, for other humans, and for all of life on Earth. Remember.

This is my own medicine.

The same journey I hold for others, I also challenge myself to walk.

Heart. Alignment. Action. Heart. Alignment. Action. Heart…

Finding harmony in the diversity.

“Find the love in the polarity. This is the medicine,” the Moon reminded me.

The tension of polarity was the thread that wove through our April Full Moon Portal of Remembrance — a Libra Moon offering her wisdom, reflecting Taita Inti, Father Sun’s rays into messages and guidance of remembrance for these heightened times of polarity as we are all called toward the creation of something new, something different.

The Quechua term that resonated through our gathering is yanantín, complementarity — the necessary union of opposites to reach balance.

Not the differences between opposites, but the qualities that bring them together. Complementary opposites that need each other to create, to hold, to care for the whole.

Like Mama Killa, Mother Moon, needing Taita Inti to shine her light onto the Earth. Like the perfect gravitational dance between all three bodies — Sun, Moon, and Earth — each pulling on the other in precise balance, with us spiraling through this dance, as life itself is made possible.

In Andean philosophy, yanantín: male/female, dark/light, inner/outer, are interdependent parts of a harmonious whole. Sustenance, regeneration, creation itself depends on the balancing interchange between polarities; in constant movement of synergizing, spiraling, sometimes clashing — seeking spaces of cohesion. Honoring the full spectrum — every shade, every extreme — trusting that the creation emerging from this diversity surpasses what any single shade could birth alone.

👁️‍🗨️ In these times of profound polarity and a natural pull toward evolution, yanantin asks us: What happens when we stop seeing duality as opposition and start seeing it as complementarity?

👁️‍🗨️ What creation becomes possible when we allow the alchemy of collective synergy instead of forcing the competition of either/or?

The meditation took us into this tension — held between the soft, nurturing glow of Mama Killa and the strong, activating rays of Taita Inti. From this nurturing place of yanantin, each participant received their personal message.

And as these energies concentrated into our core channel, we opened our portal to remembrance—remembering that we hold these two potent energies of creation and love within us. To integrate into our daily lives, each step we take. Because every step matters, and these (re)Sources are always present to guide, protect, and most of all, Love.

This Pink Moon rises in Libra at an extraordinary moment. • One person vibrating at the 700 level of enlightenment balances 70 million individuals at or below 200.

This isn’t metaphor. This is energetics.

When we gather in remembrance of our Oneness, we shift the collective field. Not by transcending the heaviness, but by anchoring into radiant presence—the power that sources us. Abundantly. Regeneratively.

We are witnessing the accelerated collapse of old systems and the emergence of new (maybe remembered?) consciousness. Both are happening simultaneously. And in this threshold, our work is to lead not through force, but through radiant presence.

A Natural Flow Toward Service

Ever since I had an opportunity to contribute to my larger ecosystem, I was pulled by a current that always led to service.

Elementary school: my teachers asking me to prepare art for school activities and organize spaces for the better functioning of our classroom.

Junior high: preparing public art in our hallway showcase, creating gathering events in my role as class president.

High school: actively participating in student government organizing events that brought my diverse high school together, the International High School Service Club (Key Club) where I volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club, distributed food and gifts during the holidays, volunteered at local runs for good causes, and the list goes on. And, being the fortunate recipient of a scholarship to an EarthWatch project in Tonga.

College: founding a Deaf Club, serving as Resident Advisor to the Arts & Crafts Building, participating in the coed service fraternity…

Then graduation happened.

I enjoyed the challenge of swimming upstream, building my career in San Francisco and Manhattan. The path that’s “supposed to” happen. Build. Climb. Succeed.

In 2002, I thought I was taking a 6-week vacation between jobs. Where in the world did I want to travel? I was drawn to the mysticism of Machu Picchu.

Little did I know I was actually being called back into my path of service to Life.

Was it the Ayahuasca that I curiously drank within my first two weeks in Peru, visiting the Amazon? Was it my emotional breakdown at the Pachamama Temple in Lake Titicaca’s Amantaní Island? Or was it the initiation into Intiqchurinkuna (Children of the Sun) with maestro Anton Ponce de León?

In service to Life.

I find myself returning to this line again and again. It’s marked clearly through my lifetime, through my ancestral lineage, like a river that’s always been flowing. I just had to remember it back into my veins.

The Abundance from Surrender

What emerged next was beyond anything I could have conceived.

When we open ourselves in service to Life — when we surrender to the innate, regenerative force that Life naturally carries… an abundance arises from surrender that defies logic.

Syncing with the heartbeat of Oneness. Flowing with the veins of all our Water memories.

I hit the well of abundance. Not in economic abundance. The abundance that feeds and flows with Life.

In 2004 I was inspired to create a public space, a forum in the Municipal Auditorium, where the community could gather to share their concerns, their questions, and ancestral and modern ways forward.

Together — as a community, as a collective — we envisioned solutions.

I invited children, students, scientists, and all the people I encountered in the market. I plastered the streets and the public dining area with recycled paper flyers to raise awareness on the upcoming topics: Coca. Local medicinal plants. Water. Climate change. Plastics. Agrochemicals.

Like Life regenerating itself, unfolding and flourishing from itself, this movement naturally opened activities with the schools, the local TV station, the local radio.

A Generational-Regenerational Flow

I reflected on how this was blossoming and unfolding so incredibly, and I could clearly recognize the inspiration continuing through this generational-regenerational flow through the bloodline.

My ancestors.

I remembered helping my grandfather when I wasn’t even 10 years old in his Japanese village, posting his political flyers around town. I’d heard stories about how he would go with his megaphone to the local train station, the unstoppable vocal person that he was, disseminating what he learned about wellness from international publications to the people of his community.

An unwavering commitment to his vision of a healthier and more harmonious existence for humanity, starting with his little town.

I know the story goes back further. And I feel deeply how the story continues.

So here I am, always speaking of “in service to Life.”

The Challenge to Remember Abundance

In these volatile times of prominent stories of separation, destruction, and collapse, and our intent to navigate towards the eye of the storm, we are being offered an opportunity to remember this force of nature — of abundance — that emerges when we remember our Oneness.

Our Oneness, not just with our neighbors, our community, or even just with humanity, but our Oneness with all our relations, seen and unseen, through the various dimensions.

The wisdom from all our relations that we each carry within us.

👁️‍🗨️ Can you imagine the immensity of abundant resourcefulness when we remember that we are also one with the waters, carrying the wisdom older than our Earth?

👁️‍🗨️ Potential for innovation? New systems from this source of ancestral wisdom?

The emerging new paradigm is not coming from the same systems of thought centered around testing the limits of our minds.

I am feeling… I am convinced… that we are being called to remember and envision ancestral wisdom of the past and future that we each can access, as we carry this collective wisdom within each of us.

I created an Andean-inspired offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth) and these sacred lands in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru, calling our relations together from wherever participants had registered around the globe, anchoring this gathering into ceremony.

Each participant shared their significant body of nature, the Leuser ecosystem, Apu San Juan, Blue Ridge Mountains, the goodberry tree… and I wove these relations into k’intus with coca leaves. Prayers to awaken remembrance across distances, connecting the Sacred Valley to the waters, peaks, and wild places that hold each person.

What emerged in our journey together revealed something essential about navigating these times.

The Sacred Valley of Cusco is particularly alive these days.

Tents overflow with families, music pulses through the air, and trees bloom with balloons in every color—reds, yellows, blues strung like luminous fruit. Gifts hang from branches. Children run between the stalls as their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and maybe great-grandparents gather around food and drinks.

This is Carnival. Several days celebrated in several colorful ways. Though it’s so much more than a celebration.

I’ve been concierging a private plant medicine retreat these days, and during one of our outings, our guide shared something I hadn’t known — something ancient that lives in the heart of this tradition.

Carnival was originally the one day of the year when rival communities would come together.

Not to negotiate. Not to deepen animosity. Not to settle disputes through violence.

But to play.

The Wisdom of Water and Joy

They would dance together. Drink together. Play games with water, drenching each other in laughter, washing away the weight of inherited rivalries.

And in the midst of this joy, something deeper would spark.

Love.

Young women and men from opposing communities would fall for each other. Connections that bridged what had been divided. Families that would weave rival villages into one fabric through marriage, through children, through the simple recognition:

This wasn’t frivolous. This was sacred technology.

One day of permission to be human across difference.

One day where play dissolved what inherited rivalries couldn’t touch.

And from that joy… lasting bonds. Generations bridged. Communities transformed.

When Ayahuasca Showed Me: Colors Dissolve Separation

Hearing about this colorful playfulness and the power of union that breaks through stories of separation, reminded me of my very first Ayahuasca ceremony.

It was 2002, in a very small village outside Puerto Maldonado, in the Peruvian Amazon. I found the word in my Lonely Planet book. In those days, we traveled with these physical travel guides. Not knowing much Spanish at all, I pointed the word to my homestay family’s father with curiosity. He was deeply familiar with this ancestral medicine and often journeyed with his maestro.

It was a pleasant first-time experience, surprisingly, because I was never into the world of psychedelics. Though I wouldn’t label this traditional plant medicine as a “psychedelic.”

I can recall in a moment of my fleeting visions: gaudy, nasty, evil-looking faces of different sizes, shades, and expressions were coming at me from all around.

And for some reason, my response was to throw splotches of colors at them.

Pink. Green. Blue. Red.

I didn’t think to do this, I just did.

…And they disappeared.

Maybe they dissolved into the union that emerges when love is present.

Often, Ayahuasca visions are mirrors of what we carry inside. Maybe these were assimilated voices of self-criticism, self-sabotage… dark soil where nothing seemed able to grow.

But what could be possible when play — when joy — comes into the picture?

Like the ever-present seed of love given fertile ground to sprout. Radicle emergence, that first root breaking through the seed coat.

👁️‍🗨️ The stories of separation we see around us are obvious, but what stories of separation do we carry within?

👁️‍🗨️ Can we use colorful play to encourage the growth of that ever-present seed of love somewhere in those dark soils?

👁️‍🗨️ And if we could do this within, how might this affect how we show up on the outside — with our family, community, and all our relations?

A Meditation from the Heart Chakra Garden

I happened to be visiting one of my favorite places in the Sacred Valley: Willka T’ika Boutique Hotel with its original Seven Chakra Gardens.

I feel very fortunate to know these gardens well. In this moment, the Heart Chakra Garden called to me to channel a meditation for you in the spirit of these joyful Carnival celebrations — a transmission emerging from Carnival’s wisdom of dissolving separation through the love that play brings forth.

This is what always reveals itself through remembrance. As I deepen into my Sacred Self, I reconnect with my inner wisdom: the collective wisdom from my life experiences, ancestors, the land I inhabit, and Earth and cosmic wisdom.

I’m remembering… There’s a wisdom we once lived by. A way of knowing that breathed through us — through our relations, seen and unseen.

A deep intelligence that doesn’t innovate, but remembers into the future.

This (almost) forgotten wisdom is not lost. It lives in our bodies, in the land, in all our relations.

We’ve simply forgotten the depth of relationship. 🌀 Even with ourselves. Our Sacred Self.

I’m learning… We start remembering this wisdom in our interrelatedness.

And to hear it again, requires a pause… To listen. Not just with our ears, but with our whole being, across time and space.

When Strangers Reveal Relations

I was challenged to remember this on a rickety bus crossing the border between Peru and Bolivia, over two decades ago.

I spoke Spanish like a two-year-old. The air was thick with the smell of earth, body odor, farm animals, and eucalyptus smoke from adobe kitchens, the familiar scents of living closely with the earth.

The bus slowed. Then stopped.

I could see ahead through the dusty windows, a five-kilometer line of cars, trucks, and buses snaking along the Andean mountainside. We weren’t going anywhere. The altiplano is known for this: people fiercely fighting for their rights, entire communities coming together to make the government listen.

I soon found myself crouched in the back of an open truck with strangers who’d been on that same bus. All of us just wanting to get to the other side, to continue our journeys safely.

Then… Sudden, quick movements… Arms signaling: Get down. Be quiet.

Rocks bounced off the truck walls.

People were throwing stones at us for trying to cross. Their statement to the government had to be clear: This matters. We will not be ignored.

We were there together. People from different villages, communities, regions, countries, hemispheres. The passionate protesters blocking the road for days. Random strangers in the truck looking out for each other. Everyone standing in their purpose… while chewing coca leaves, protesters and passengers alike.

The coca was guiding us all. Keeping us grounded. To essence.

What was most immediately important in this human experience? Connection. Survival. Standing for what matters. Being held by something far older than the conflict itself.

I made it across that day. Found another bus. Continued my journey.

But what stayed with me wasn’t the danger or the chaos.

It was the sensation of union.

From all parties. From the earth-based knowing that still runs deep in Andean culture — the ancestral roots that still stay intact, the relationship with Pachamama that guides daily life, the coca leaf teaching us how to be with each other even in conflict.

This is what two decades in the Andes has shown me: we are still capable of relating as One.

Not in some abstract spiritual sense, but in the lived, messy, beautiful reality of being human together on this Earth.

The Separation We’re Living

There are many stories of separation weighing heavy upon our realities right now.

⚠️ Personal separation. Nervous systems manipulated into constant fight-or-flight, severing us from our bodies, our intuition, our Sacred Self.

⚠️ Community separation. Displacement, discrimination, division fracturing communities across the globe.

⚠️ Environmental separation. Economic models built on the illusion that humans exist outside ecosystems, ignoring our interdependence while planetary systems destabilize.

This separation is not natural. It’s constructed.

And because it’s constructed, it can be dismantled.

Not through force. Not through more division.

🌀 Through remembrance.

A rEvolution of Oneness

What if the regenerative future we’re building doesn’t come from innovation, but inspired from remembering?

From remembering that we are not separate from Earth. From each other. From the forces — seen and unseen — that have always guided Life forward.

A remembering of our (inner) collective wisdom — a convergence of the wisdom from our life experiences, ancestors past and future, the land we inhabit, the massive earth and the expansive cosmos.

This is the rEvolution of Oneness.
