When I wrote the first essay in The Great Awakening, I did not imagine where the journey would lead. Like many journeys worth taking, it revealed itself one step at a time.

Together we explored an idea that is both ancient and urgently relevant: humanity is not merely passing through a time of unprecedented disruption; it is also passing through an extraordinary opportunity to awaken. Every crisis invites a deeper consciousness. Every challenge invites a wiser response. Every ending quietly carries the seed of a new beginning.

Throughout the series we looked at awakening from many different windows—science and spirituality, leadership and love, organisations and ecology, personal transformation and collective responsibility. Beneath these different perspectives lay one simple insight: we are not separate. We belong to one another. We belong to LIFE.

That understanding naturally led us into the second series, Mantras for a New World. These were never intended to be slogans or affirmations. They were invitations—to pause, to remember, to practise and to live differently.

We reflected on ancient wisdom expressed in fresh language. We explored Silence, Listening, Healing, Presence, Ubuntu, Love, Service and many other timeless qualities that have guided humanity across cultures and centuries.

If there is one thread running through all these essays, perhaps it is this: the world does not need more information. It needs deeper transformation.

Most of us already know far more than we practise. We know that kindness matters. We know that compassion heals. We know that cooperation is wiser than endless competition. We know that nature is not a warehouse of resources but a living community to which we belong. The challenge has never been a shortage of knowledge. It has been the courage to live what we already know.

That, perhaps, is the real awakening.

And awakening naturally turns us inward. It asks us not merely to see the world differently, but to discover what in us is ready to become freer, fuller and more alive.

What within me is seeking liberation to express my fuller potential?

Over the years I have become convinced that the future will not be shaped primarily by governments, technologies or even economic systems. It will be shaped by the quality of our consciousness. Every conversation matters. Every relationship matters. Every decision matters. Every small act of care matters.

Civilisations are not transformed only by great leaders. They are transformed by ordinary people choosing extraordinary presence in ordinary moments. A teacher. A nurse. A parent. An entrepreneur. A student. A farmer. A public servant. A neighbour. People like you and me.

This asks something of us. Not perfection. Not heroic performance. It asks for courage—the kind of courage that comes from the heart rather than the ego.

What does heart-led courage mean for me now?

And perhaps courage is not only about what we are willing to do. It is also about what we are willing to release: old identities, fears, resentments, habits and ways of being that have served their purpose but no longer serve Life.

What am I ready to offer into the fire of love for transformation and new beginnings?

Looking back, I smile. For months we have been talking about awakening. Perhaps LIFE has been smiling too. Because awakening was never the destination. It was simply the beginning.

Awakening naturally wants to express itself. Love longs to become action. Wisdom longs to become service. Joy longs to become celebration.

That is where our next journey begins.

In the coming series, LILA: Love in Loving Action, we will explore a simple yet profound question: What does Love look like when it rolls up its sleeves?

How does Love shape leadership? How does it influence business? How does it transform families, communities and education? How can it help heal our relationship with nature? How does it become courage in times of conflict? How does it become creativity in times of uncertainty? How does it become joyful service in everyday life?

In the Indian wisdom traditions, Lila is often described as the Divine Play—the spontaneous dance through which LIFE expresses itself in infinite forms. The more I reflect on it, the more I feel that Love is not merely something we experience. It is something that wants to move through us.

Not as obligation. Not as sacrifice. But as joyful participation in the ongoing creation of a more compassionate world.

And when we allow ourselves to become available to Love, something new begins to emerge. The question is no longer only what we should do. It becomes: what wants to be created through us?

What arises from the creative flame of my heart?

This is also why gratitude matters. Gratitude is not denial of what is difficult. It is the capacity to notice what is already alive, beautiful and nourishing in the midst of everything else.

What am I grateful for in this moment?

From that place of gratitude, we can begin to see that each of us has something to contribute. We need not wait until we are wiser, richer, more successful or somehow ‘ready’. Life is already inviting us to participate with whatever gifts we have today.

What gifts am I called to share with the world?

I hope you will continue walking this journey with me—not as followers, not as an audience, but as fellow travellers, fellow learners and fellow servants of LIFE.

If these essays have touched your heart, challenged your assumptions or encouraged you to live with a little more awareness and compassion, then they have already fulfilled their purpose. A new day is quietly unfolding.

Somewhere in Tokyo, a nurse is beginning another shift. A farmer in Kenya is already in the fields. A fisherman is pushing his boat out into the Indian Ocean. A scientist unlocks her laboratory in Boston. A schoolchild is searching for the other shoe that mysteriously disappeared overnight. (If you have ever raised children—or grandchildren—you know this is one of life’s enduring mysteries!). A street sweeper in Pune, India begins cleaning yesterday’s carelessness. A monk in Kyoto mindfully rings a bell and bows.

Most of these people will never meet.

Yet they breathe the same air, walk upon the same Earth, warm themselves beneath the same sun, and are sustained by the same mystery we call life.

That simple thought has stayed with me for many years.

For most of our lives we ask a familiar question:

“What do I want from life?”

There is nothing wrong with that question. It has inspired discovery, enterprise, innovation and remarkable achievements.

But somewhere along the journey another question quietly appears.

“What does life wish to express through me?”

That single shift changes everything.

The first question begins with the separate self.

The second begins with belonging.

Nature has understood this all along.

A river does not drink its own water.

A mango tree has never been tempted to eat its own mangoes.

The sun has never sent sent out invoices for the abundant sunshine we received last year.

Everything in nature exists through relationship. Perhaps we do too.

When we are young, we naturally ask, “Who am I?”

As life ripens, a gentler question arrives. “What is mine to give?”

That, I believe, is one of the quiet turning points of a meaningful life.

Leadership slowly stops being about influence. Work stops being only about success. Even spirituality stops being another self-improvement project.

Life itself becomes an offering.

When I began my career, I thought leadership was largely about vision, strategy, execution and communication. Those things certainly matter.

But over the years I have discovered something far more fundamental. Presence.

Everything else grows from there.

Presence changes the quality of listening. Listening changes relationships. Relationships build trust. Trust releases collaboration. Collaboration awakens creativity. Creativity becomes meaningful service.

And meaningful service creates value that enriches people, organisations, communities and the living Earth.

During our work on Enterprise Value Architecture, this pattern kept appearing in organisation after organisation. Enduring value creation rarely begins with strategy.

It begins with awareness. Awareness deepens into Presence. Presence transforms conversations. Conversations shape relationships. Relationships determine the quality of decisions. And decisions eventually become products, services, cultures, innovations and the impact we leave behind.

The architecture is invisible. The results are not.

Perhaps leadership has never really been about standing above people.

Perhaps it has always been about standing with life.

That changes the way I think about success.

Success is no longer measured only by what we accumulate.

It is also measured by what quietly flourishes because we happened to be here.

Did someone leave a meeting feeling more hopeful?

Did a young colleague discover confidence they didn’t know they possessed?

Did trust increase?

Did kindness become a little more normal?

Did we leave the river cleaner than we found it?

Did a child inherit a slightly gentler world?

You won’t find those questions in most annual reports.

Perhaps one day we should.

People often ask me how they can discover their purpose.

My response has changed over the years.

I no longer begin by asking about goals.

I begin by asking about love.

What breaks your heart?

What fills you with quiet joy?

Where does compassion arise almost effortlessly?

What kind of suffering can you simply not walk past?

Somewhere in those answers your purpose is quietly waiting.

Purpose is rarely something we invent.

More often it is something we recognise.

It appears where our deepest love meets one of the world’s deepest needs.

The beautiful thing is that this relationship with life does not depend on dramatic gestures.

It is renewed every ordinary day.

A teacher preparing today’s lesson with care.

A doctor listening one minute longer.

A CEO admitting, “I don’t know.”

A parent putting away the phone.

A neighbour planting a tree.

A colleague encouraging someone who has quietly lost confidence.

History celebrates dramatic moments.

Life usually transforms itself through ordinary ones.

People sometimes ask me whether I really believe humanity is awakening.

My answer is yes.

Not because I believe everything is getting better.

Clearly it isn’t.

We see violence, division, ecological destruction and fear all around us.

But beneath the noise, I also see something else.

Millions of people are becoming more conscious. More compassionate. More collaborative. More willing to serve something larger than themselves.

The Great Awakening, if it is indeed unfolding, will probably not arrive with fireworks.

It will arrive through millions of ordinary acts of Presence.

One conversation.

One courageous decision.

One generous act.

One apology.

One tree.

One child.

One community.

One day at a time.

That is how new worlds have always been born.

This is not self-sacrifice.

It is self-expression in its deepest sense.

The wave is never separate from the ocean.

We are never separate from life.

When we remember that, service no longer feels like duty.

It becomes delight.

One day, perhaps long after these essays have been forgotten, someone may pause before sending an angry email.

Someone may choose curiosity instead of judgement.

Someone may really listen.

Someone may forgive.

Someone may protect a forest.

Someone may encourage a frightened child.

Someone may quietly choose love over being right.

That will be enough.

Because that is how civilizations change.

Not all at once.

One moment of Presence.

One act of Listening.

One expression of Love.

And perhaps that is all life has ever been inviting us to do.

Not to become extraordinary.

Simply to become available.

Available to Love.

Available to Wisdom.

Available to Joy.

Available to LIFE—

Love in Full Expression.

Last week we explored the gift of silence—not as the absence of sound, but as the spacious awareness from which wisdom, creativity and compassion arise. Silence, however, is not the destination. It is where the journey begins.

When silence matures, it naturally expresses itself as listening.

Over the last four decades, I have had the privilege of working with thousands of leaders, educators, entrepreneurs and change-makers across many countries. During this journey I have developed leadership frameworks, facilitation processes, coaching approaches and organisational models. They have all been valuable in different ways.

Yet every now and then I ask myself a simple question.

If someone took away every leadership model I have ever developed and allowed me to keep only one capability, what would I choose?

The answer comes without hesitation:

Listening.

Not because it is an important communication skill, but because it is the foundation on which every meaningful relationship is built.

When people truly listen to one another, trust begins to grow. Learning accelerates. Conflicts soften. Creativity emerges. Teams become communities. Leadership becomes service.

The more I reflect on my own life, the more convinced I become that the quality of our listening shapes the quality of our relationships. And the quality of our relationships shapes the quality of our lives.

Ironically, I learned this only after discovering how poorly I listened myself.

When I was younger, I often wondered why some friendships never seemed to become deep. People were always courteous. Conversations were pleasant. Yet I frequently came away with the feeling that something important had been missed.

Like many young professionals, I assumed the answer was to become more knowledgeable. I read more books, attended more programmes, worked harder and tried to express my ideas more clearly. I thought people would connect with me if I became more interesting.

Looking back, I smile at that younger Arun.

He was so eager to contribute that he rarely noticed what others were really trying to say.

The turning point came during a long conversation with a close friend. He hardly offered any advice. He simply listened—with complete attention, without interrupting, without trying to solve anything and without making the conversation about himself.

For perhaps the first time in my life, I experienced what it meant to be deeply heard.

Something unexpected happened.

As he listened to me, I began listening to myself.

A quiet truth emerged. I had spent years hoping others would understand me while making far less effort to understand them. My ears had been open, but my attention had often been somewhere else.

That evening changed much more than my communication. It changed my understanding of relationships. I began to see that listening is not something we do while waiting for our turn to speak. It is a way of honouring another human being.

Years later, that lesson returned in a leadership programme I was facilitating in Melbourne, Australia.

One of the participants—let me call her Paula—was deeply frustrated.

“My senior leadership team simply doesn’t listen to me,” she said. “They ignore my ideas. They don’t understand.”

Rather than continuing the discussion, I invited her into a simple experiential exercise.

“Imagine your leadership team is standing here in front of you as a wall.”

Without hesitation she walked towards the imaginary wall and began pushing against it. Nothing happened.

She tried climbing over it.

She failed.

She pushed harder.

Still nothing.

The harder she struggled, the more exhausted she became.

Finally, she sat down on the floor in complete silence.

No one in the room spoke.

After a long pause, something delightful happened.

She stretched out on the floor, smiled to herself and gently rolled underneath the imaginary wall.

The room burst into spontaneous applause.

With tears in her eyes she looked around and quietly said,

“There was never really a wall.”

She paused again.

Then came the deeper insight.

“I haven’t really been listening.”

She realised that she had become so determined to convince her senior leaders that she had never taken the time to understand the pressures they were carrying, the constraints they were facing or the priorities that shaped their decisions.

Over the following months she consciously changed the way she led conversations.

She listened before proposing.

She became curious before becoming persuasive.

She sought first to understand.

Gradually, something remarkable happened.

The wall disappeared.

Her ideas began receiving support—not because she had become more convincing, but because she had become more connected.

That experience has stayed with me for many years because I have seen versions of it repeated in organisations around the world.

Most communication problems are not communication problems at all.

They are listening problems.

Modern neuroscience is now confirming what the great wisdom traditions have known for centuries. When someone gives us their undivided attention, our nervous system begins to settle. We become less defensive, more open, more creative and more willing to collaborate. Being deeply heard changes the way we think, feel and relate.

This understanding also shaped much of our work on Enterprise Value Architecture.

As we studied organisations that created enduring value, one insight became increasingly clear.

Financial value, customer value, social value and human value all emerge from the quality of relationships.

Relationships, in turn, are shaped by the quality of conversations.

And every meaningful conversation begins with listening.

Organisations often invest enormous energy in strategy, technology and systems while overlooking the invisible capability that enables all three to flourish.

Better listening leads to better understanding.

Better understanding leads to wiser decisions.

Wiser decisions create better service.

Better service creates lasting value—for customers, employees, communities and shareholders alike.

Listening, therefore, is not merely a personal virtue.

It is a strategic capability.

Otto Scharmer describes listening as a journey. At first, we listen mainly to confirm what we already believe. As our curiosity grows, we begin listening with an open mind. Later, empathy opens the heart. Eventually, there are rare moments when something genuinely new emerges through the conversation itself.

I have experienced such moments many times—in Open Space gatherings, coaching conversations and leadership retreats.

No one owns the breakthrough.

No one controls it.

It seems to arise from the space between us.

I have often found myself thinking:

Life is listening to itself.

Perhaps that is why listening feels so sacred.

It is much more than hearing words.

It is creating a space where something larger than either person is free to emerge.

Today, I invite you to try a simple experiment.

In one conversation, speak a little less than you normally would.

Ask one more question.

Resist the temptation to interrupt or to offer an immediate solution.

Simply stay present.

Notice what changes—not only in the other person, but also within yourself.

You may discover that people are rarely looking for perfect answers.

Far more often, they are longing to be seen, heard and understood.

Before the world remembered it’s name, the Malabar Whistling Thrush had already begun singing.

Every morning around Oshiana, our home in Pune, dawn arrives quietly. It does not announce itself. It unfolds. The first light touches the leaves. A squirrel appears along the compound wall. The Ashoka trees begin catching the golden sunlight. Somewhere nearby, a carpenter’s hammer keeps gentle rhythm with the waking day. And then, from deep inside the trees, comes the clear, liquid song of the bird that people here lovingly call the Whistling Schoolboy.

Every morning I hear it.Every morning it reminds me of something I have forgotten.

Like many people, my first impulse on waking is to reach for my phone.

Messages.

News.

Notifications.

Another opinion about the world.

Another reason to hurry.

Another invitation to leave this moment before I have even entered it.

This morning, something different happened.

My hand paused.

Instead of reaching for the screen, I opened the balcony door.

The cool morning air touched my face.

The song of the Whistling Schoolboy continued, completely unconcerned with stock markets, elections, artificial intelligence, climate reports or tomorrow’s meetings.

For a few moments, I simply listened.Not trying to meditate. Not trying to become peaceful….Just listening.

And slowly I noticed something surprising.

The bird had not created silence.

The breeze had not created silence.

Even the spaces between their sounds were not silence.

Silence had been there all along.

The sounds were simply appearing within it.

The same was true of my thoughts.

They came.

They went.

Plans appeared.

Memories appeared.

Fragments of unfinished conversations drifted through my mind like clouds across an open sky.

Yet something remained unchanged.

Something simply witnessed.

Without judgment.

Without effort.

Without preference.

Perhaps this is the first great misunderstanding of our age.

We think silence means escaping the world.

It does not.

It means becoming intimate with it.

Modern civilisation has become extraordinarily good at producing noise.

Noise in our cities.

Noise in our media.

Noise in our politics.

Noise in our minds.

Never before have we been so connected.

Never before have so many people felt inwardly scattered.

We have mistaken constant stimulation for aliveness.

Information for wisdom.

Reaction for participation.

The consequence is not merely stress.

It is forgetfulness.

We forget the silent ground from which every wise thought, every act of love and every genuine innovation emerges.

Science is beginning to illuminate what contemplative traditions have explored for millennia.

When attention relaxes and the mind is no longer trapped in continuous effort, different regions of the brain begin communicating more freely. Insight appears unexpectedly. Creativity increases. New possibilities emerge, not because we force them into existence, but because we finally create enough inner space for them to arrive.

The future, it seems, prefers quiet rooms.

Otto Scharmer writes of listening for what wants to emerge rather than imposing what we already know.

I have come to believe that emergence begins long before listening.

It begins in silence.

Ramana Maharshi, whose presence transformed countless lives, often answered questions without speaking at all. For him, silence was not the absence of teaching. It was the highest teaching. Words could point. Silence revealed.

J. Krishnamurti invited us to observe thought without condemning it or controlling it. In that choiceless awareness, the machinery of the mind gradually settles of its own accord, and something immeasurably fresh becomes possible.

The greatest musicians understand this intuitively. They do not merely play notes.

They sculpt silence.

Without the pauses, music collapses into noise.

Without stillness, movement loses its grace.

Without empty space, even beauty cannot breathe.

Perhaps our lives are composed in exactly the same way.

The world tells us to fill every moment. Life quietly invites us to leave a little space.

A little silence.

A little wonder.

That space is not empty.

It is infinitely alive.

It is the place from which love first becomes possible.

It is the place from which deep listening will emerge.

It is the place we explored in the previous essay as Home.

Not somewhere we travel to.

The place from which we have never departed.

Today, before reaching for your phone, pause.

Open a window.

Listen to the Whistling Schoolboy, or whatever birds sing where you live.

Feel the morning air.

Notice the space between two breaths.

Notice the space between two thoughts.

Notice the silence that has been patiently waiting beneath every moment of your life.

You do not need to create it.

You only need to stop leaving it.

The same silence that holds the mountains, the music and the stars also longs to meet another human being.

And when silence flowers into relationship...

it becomes Listening.

This post is emerging in Oshiana, my home in Pune, India.

But the post is really about another Home.

Not a place on Earth.

Not somewhere in the universe.

Something far closer than either.

Something so intimate that we usually overlook it.

Let me begin with a story.

I switched on the television this morning.

The headlines were devastating.

A powerful earthquake had struck Venezuela. Hundreds have died. Many are still missing. Thousands have been injured. Images of collapsed buildings, frightened children and exhausted rescue workers filled the screen.

My breathing became shallow.

Almost immediately another thought arrived.

My poetry teacher is now in a hospice. The lymphoma he courageously faced years ago has spread to his brain.

Then comes the image of Vikram, who lives next door, walking slowly with Parkinson’s disease. Each step requires immense effort.

My body responded before my mind did.

My shoulders tightened.

The chest felt heavy.

For a few moments I even forgot to breathe.

So I paused.

I steppped into the garden.

Bare feet touched cool grass still wet with morning dew.

A gentle breeze brushed against my skin.

The bougainvillea had climbed impossibly high into the branches of an old Ashoka tree, exploding into shades of pink and white.

The birds seem to be having an animated conversation.

A pair of frisky squirrels chased one another along the compound wall.

In the distance, a carpenter rhythmically hammered wood as a new home slowly took shape.

Without trying to meditate...

without trying to be spiritual...

something softened.

The breath deepened.

The body remembered.

Nothing outside had changed.

The earthquake had happened.

My teacher was still dying.

Vikram is still living with Parkinson’s.

And yet something profound had shifted.

For a few quiet moments I was ...

at ease.

Perhaps this is where healing begins.

Not by escaping life.

Not by pretending suffering is unreal.

But by coming Home.

Our world speaks constantly about disease.

Heart disease.

Mental illness.

Autoimmune disease.

Burnout.

Anxiety.

Depression.

Loneliness.

Yet I wonder whether we have overlooked something beautifully simple.

Perhaps the opposite of disease is not merely health.

Perhaps the opposite of dis-ease is Ease.

Not laziness.

Not passivity.

But the effortless intelligence with which life itself unfolds.

A tree does not struggle to become a tree.

A river does not force itself towards the sea.

The sun does not wake each morning wondering whether it is enough.

Life flowers naturally when it is not resisted.

The great wisdom traditions have always pointed towards this.

Healing is not the manufacture of wholeness.

Healing is the remembrance of wholeness.

One teaching says:

“Healing is the gentle unravelling of illusions, revealing the truth of your eternal nature.”

Another reminds us:

“Open your heart to the infinite wellspring of love within you. It is through love that all healing miracles occur.”

Another whispers:

“In the stillness of the present moment, healing unfolds.”

Different words.

One invitation.

Come Home.

There is a place in you that has never been wounded.

Not because life has been easy.

Not because bodies do not ache.

Not because hearts never break.

But because beneath every passing experience there remains something quietly untouched.

Like an invisible cinema screen.

Floods rage across it.

Bombs explode.

Lovers meet.

Children are born.

Empires rise and disappear.

The audience laughs.

The audience weeps.

Yet when the film ends, the screen has never been burned by the fire, drowned by the flood, or broken by the violence.

This too is only a pointer.

Because Home cannot really be described.

Every metaphor eventually reaches its limit.

The Upanishads smiled and said, Neti, neti.

Not this.

Not that.

Mystics eventually fall silent.

Not because they have nothing to say.

But because words can carry us only to the threshold.

Words are like the shoes we leave outside the doorway before entering Home.

Useful for the journey.

Unnecessary once we arrive.

Healing does not ask us to deny suffering.

It asks us to stop making suffering our identity.

It invites us to honour the frightened child within, to listen to the wisdom of the body, to receive help when needed, to grieve fully, and to trust that beneath every season of loss something timeless remains untouched.

As the old saying reminds us,

This too shall pass.

Fear passes.

Joy passes.

Success passes.

Failure passes.

Youth passes.

Old age passes.

Even this precious breath passes.

Everything that comes... goes.

And even that is only another pointer. For what remains has no name. We simply call it Home.

How does one remember Home?

Self-love.

Many of us misunderstand self-love.

We imagine it is indulgence.

Or positive thinking.

Or occasionally treating ourselves.

Perhaps self-love is something much simpler.

It is caring deeply for the life entrusted to us.

As Jeff Moore beautifully says,

“Discipline is how you say ‘I love you’ to yourself.”

Going to bed on time.

Choosing food that nourishes.

Walking beneath trees.

Meditating.

Keeping promises made to yourself.

Putting away the phone.

Speaking truthfully.

Forgiving quickly.

These are not acts of control.

They are love made visible.

Self-love without discipline becomes sentiment.

Once again, how do we remember Home?

Not through extraordinary spiritual experiences.

Through ordinary moments lived with extraordinary presence.

Pause several times today.

Take one conscious breath before opening your next email.

Feel your feet on the earth.

Look up at the sky.

Place a gentle hand upon your heart.

Thank your body.

If fear appears, welcome it like a tired child.

If pain speaks, listen without making it your identity.

If joy comes, receive it gratefully.

Then return.

Not to an idea.

Not to a belief.

Not even to a spiritual identity.

Simply...

Home.

The source of these words is not a person.

It is LIFE : Love in Full Expression.

Be still for a few moments today.

Listen carefully.

Notice what Love is quietly inviting you to do next.

Be Peace.

Choose Joy.

Go gently.

Remember that we are One.

Welcome Home.

This morning, before the world had fully awakened, I opened my laptop.

A few emails had arrived overnight. Messages about illness. Someone’s diagnosis.

A friend’s exhaustion. Another story of conflict. Another person quietly carrying sorrow.

For a few moments, I felt the familiar contraction. The ancient human ache.

Then something pulled my attention away. Outside my window, the birds had begun.

Not performing. Not trying. Simply singing.

And beside them, I noticed the bougainvillea.

A wild cascade of pink and white climbing impossibly high through the branches of an Ashoka tree — reaching perhaps a hundred feet into the morning light.

No anxiety.No ambition. No explanation.

Only flowering.

I put the laptop down and sat still.

The cool air touched my face.The colours softened.

Time seemed to dissolve.

For a brief moment—

there was no problem to solve.No self to improve. No future to reach.

Only this.

This.

This.

And from somewhere inside came two ancient words:

Alakh Niranjan.

Not as an idea but as recognition.

A direct pointing otward what cannot be captured—

and what can never be stained.

Alakh

The first word means the unseen, the unknowable, that which cannot be grasped, that which cannot become an object.

Alakh is not hidden.

It is simply too intimate to be seen. Like the eye cannot see itself. Like silence cannot hear itself. Like awareness cannot stand outside itself.

Every great wisdom tradition has discovered this.

The Upanishads whispered:

Neti. Neti.

Not this. Not that. Not any concept. Not any image. Not any belief. Not any identity.

Every time the mind says— “This must be Truth…”

the sages smile gently and say: “Look deeper!”

In the Sufi tradition, the opening movement of:

La ilaha illa Allah begins with a sacred emptying.

No limited idol. No concept. No finite image.

No thing can contain the Infinite. Not this. Not that.

Until only openness remains.

And then—

the heart recognises that Truth is not absent.

but Truth is too vast to grasp with a limited mind.

And perhaps this is why the mystics often sound so strange.

[Pause, take a deep breath.]

Listen to Rumi:

Define and narrow me,
you starve yourself of yourself.

My birthplace is placelessness.

I am the life of life.

And then his invitation:

Admit it and change everything.

[Pause. Breathe in]

Listen to J. Krishnamurti:

I have no name.
I am as the fresh breeze of the mountains.

Not because identity is wrong. But because what we truly are cannot fit inside any name.Not Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or spiritual.

Not successful,wounded , or enlightened.

Alakh. Mystery. Presence.

This.

Niranjan

And then comes the second movement.

Niranjan.

The unstained primordial purity.

Not purity as morality or perfection.

Not purity as becoming worthy.

But the original radiance of Life.

The pure stream beneath all appearances.

The awareness in which everything arises.

The very life of life.

Not separate from the world and permeating everything.

The tree.

The stone.

The bird.

The stranger.

The body.

The stars.

All Shiva.

All Light.

All One movement.

The sages discovered something extraordinary:

What appears fragmented— is secretly whole.

What appears broken—is secretly held.

What appears ordinary—is secretly sacred.

[Pause. Take a deep breath. Relax]

Listen to Thich Nhat Hanh:

Please call me by my true names.

He becomes the flower.

And the child.

And the refugee.

And the pirate.

And the tears.

And the joy.

Because when separation dissolves— everything becomes holy.

The sacred was never elsewhere.

This cup.

This breath.

This body.

This difficult conversation.

This moment.

Everything.

Sacred.

Healing Through Remembering

But if this is true— why do we suffer?

Why illness, grief, heartbreak?

Because being whole does not mean never hurting.

Bodies ache. Hearts break. Human life includes weather.

But perhaps healing is not becoming something else.

Perhaps healing is remembering.

{Pause…..]

Receive these words:

There is a place in you
that was never wounded.

Not because life did not happen.

Not because tears were not shed.

But because beneath all weather—

the sky remains untouched.

Healing does not deny suffering.

Healing bows to suffering.

Listens.

Softens.

And remembers something deeper.

What if your body-mind has not failed you—

but has been praying in the language of sensation?

What if peace is available before symptoms disappear?

What if wholeness is available now?

Light reveals. Love heals.

Awareness illuminates. Compassion restores.

This is not passive.

This is profound.

When we remember our true nature—

the nervous system relaxes.

The body softens.

Relationships heal.

Action becomes kinder.

Life begins flowing again.

The Application

What if this mantra became a way of living?

Alakh

holding our beliefs lightly.

Seeing the unity behind all faiths.

Listening more deeply.

Remaining available to mystery.

Niranjan

Seeing sacredness everywhere.

Caring for body and earth.

Speaking more truthfully.

Remembering that no being is outside Love.

And when life feels heavy—pause.

Look outside.Feel one breath. Touch a tree. Pet a dog.

Place your hand on your heart,and whisper:

I do not need to become whole.

I remember that I am.

Toward the purity within all forms.

Toward Love and Light.

Toward the wholeness that has never left.

Early one morning in Pune, India, I watched a woman watering plants outside her small apartment building. The air still carried the cool softness of dawn. A pressure cooker whistled somewhere in the distance. Sparrows hopped near a puddle reflecting the pale gold sky. As she moved slowly from one clay pot to another, she paused to straighten a bent leaf with astonishing tenderness — as though the plant were family.

A few minutes later, the newspaper boy arrived on his bicycle. The watchman smiled and handed him a steel tumbler of chai. A stray dog stretched lazily near the gate. Someone above began singing a morning raga while hanging clothes on a balcony.

Nothing extraordinary was happening.

And yet everything was connected.

The tea.
The birdsong.
The woman.
The sunlight.
The bicycle.
The breath entering my lungs from trees planted decades ago by people I will never meet.

This is Ubuntu.

“I am because we are.”

Not merely a philosophy from Africa.
A profound truth about the nature of existence itself.

Ubuntu reminds us that we do not exist independently. We belong to one another. Our humanity is woven together like threads in a living tapestry.

Your joy affects me.
Your suffering affects me.
Your healing affects the whole.

Modern culture teaches us the opposite.

It tells us:
be self-made,
be independent,
compete,
accumulate,
protect your identity,
win.

And yet beneath all our technological sophistication, loneliness is becoming one of humanity’s greatest epidemics.

Why?

Because the separate self is exhausting to maintain.

We were not designed to live psychologically isolated from Life.

The Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh offered a beautiful word for this reality:

Interbeing.

He said that if you look deeply into a sheet of paper, you will see the cloud inside it. Without the cloud, there would be no rain. Without rain, no tree. Without the tree, no paper.

The logger is there.
The sunshine is there.
The soil is there.
Time is there.
The entire cosmos is there.

Nothing exists separately.

This insight is not abstract spirituality.
It is practical awakening.

When we forget interbeing:
we exploit nature,
dehumanise others,
weaponise identity,
pollute rivers,
burn out our nervous systems,
and live trapped in chronic fear.

But when we remember Ubuntu, something softens.

The cashier at the supermarket is no longer “staff.”
She becomes another human being carrying invisible hopes and struggles.

The migrant worker at the traffic signal becomes visible again.

The tree outside your office window stops being background scenery and becomes a silent companion keeping you alive.

The earth becomes sacred once more.

And perhaps this is why, on World Environment Day, another image from the wisdom traditions feels so alive today:

We are all waves on the same ocean.

A wave may briefly imagine itself separate:
larger,
smaller,
more successful,
more spiritual,
more important.

But beneath every wave is the same water.

The moment we truly realise this, compassion stops being morality and becomes simple intelligence.

You do not intentionally poison your own bloodstream.

You do not deliberately wound your own hand.

And when consciousness matures, you realise:
there are no “others.”

Ubuntu is not asking us to become saints.

It is inviting us to become real again.

To practice Ubuntu today, begin very simply:

Learn the names of the people who clean your workspace.

Pause before interrupting someone.

Share food.

Support local farmers.

Listen fully before reacting.

Spend time in nature until the boundary between “you” and the living world becomes softer.

When angry, ask:
“What pain might this person be carrying?”

When successful, ask:
“How many unseen hands helped me arrive here?”

When lonely, remember:
the same life-force breathing through you is breathing through billions of beings at this very moment.

Even now,
as you read these words,
you are participating in an immense web of interbeing:

Ancient sunlight became plants.
Plants became food.
Food became thought.
Thought became language.
Language became this moment of connection between us.

Ubuntu.

I am because we are.

And perhaps the Great Awakening is not about becoming something new.

Perhaps it is simply remembering
that we were never separate to begin with.

Fifteen years ago, my friend Jon Symes sent me a song.

It was called Love, Serve & Remember by John Astin.

Simple words.

I listened to it. Appreciated it. Moved on.

Or so I thought.

But some phrases do not leave us.

They travel quietly beneath the surface of life like underground rivers. They wait.

Over the years, these three words would occasionally return to me for no obvious reason:

Love.
Serve.
Remember.

And then, a year ago, they returned in a completely unexpected place.

I was travelling by taxi from Pune to Chakan in India.

It was an ordinary day.

Traffic. Dust. Rubbish on village reoads. Motorcycles weaving through impossible gaps. The smell of diesel and hot air drifting through the open window.

But the inside of the taxi felt… different.

The dashboard had become a small altar.

Flowers.

Images.

Incense.

At the centre sat an image of Neem Karoli Baba.

The driver himself carried an unusual quality — quiet, grounded, affectionate. Not performing spirituality. Simply peaceful.

As we spoke, he told me how his life had changed since discovering Neem Karoli Baba.

After a while, out of curiosity, I asked an AI assistant to summarise the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba into one page.

Three words leapt out.

Love. Serve. Remember.

And I laughed.

Life had circled back.

Before you think I am trying to sell Neem Karoli Baba, I am not.

He is one of many windows that open onto the same sky.

I am pointing to the sky.

Because perhaps this is what all true wisdom traditions ultimately do:
they reduce complexity into living essentials.

And right now, we may need this more than ever.

Because there is a strange loneliness spreading through the modern world.

You can feel it.

In airport lounges glowing blue at midnight.

In families sitting together while scrolling separate realities.

In nervous fingers tapping at red lights.

In executives checking email while stirring their morning coffee.

In the subtle fear that if we stop moving, something inside us may catch up with us.

Never before have we been so externally connected.

And rarely have we felt so internally fragmented.

Perhaps this is why these three words feel quietly revolutionary.

Not as philosophy.

Not as religion.

But as a way of returning to Life itself.

Three words.

An entire civilisation hidden inside them.

Love

Not sentimental love.

Not romance.

Not niceness.

Love is the capacity to remain open-hearted in the midst of life.

It is the woman serving chai at the railway station with tired eyes.

The child laughing barefoot in monsoon rain.

The old security guard trying to stay awake at 2 a.m.

The tree outside your window silently making oxygen all day and asking nothing in return.

To love is to soften the illusion of separateness.

And at a time when the world often appears flooded with violence, greed, hatred, corruption and fear, love is not denial.

Love is deeper seeing.

Love remembers that behind the dark clouds, the sun still exists.

Every day, countless people — whom I sometimes call Jugnus — tiny fireflies, imaginal cells of a new world — continue choosing compassion over cynicism.

Teachers.

Volunteers.

Parents.

Farmers.

Friends.

Artists.

Quietly illuminating the dark.

Love informs their work.

Love gives them courage.

Love reminds them that after even the longest night—

there is dawn.

And strangely, love begins with something very ordinary:

Attention.

Most people are not starved of advice.

They are starved of presence.

When you listen to someone without preparing your response…

When you sit beside someone without trying to fix them…

When your attention becomes spacious…

something sacred happens.

The nervous system relaxes.

The heart unclenches.

Healing begins.

Love is attention without agenda.

Serve

Service naturally arises when the illusion of separation becomes thinner.

A few days ago, my brother Bharat and I were walking through the forest climbing up the Shankaracharya Hill in Srinagar.

The morning air was cool.

Pine needles softened our footsteps.

Sunlight moved through the leaves.

At one point he said something simple that stayed with me:

“The trees keep doing what they have to do. Fruit trees continue offering fruit. Flowers continue offering fragrance.”

No drama.

No self-congratulation.

No social media announcement.

Just offering.

That is service.

You do not serve because you are superior.

You serve because, at some level, you recognise yourself in what you serve.

A meal cooked with care.

A difficult conversation handled gently.

A message sent to someone struggling.

Picking up Polypropylene wrappers from a forest trail.

Giving your complete presence to a child.

Tiny acts.

Immense consequences.

The world will not heal through ideology alone.

It will heal through millions of ordinary sacred acts of loving service.

Service interrupts the trance of “me.”

And often, while helping life flourish—

we rediscover joy.

Remember

This may be the deepest word of the three.

Remember what?

Remember who you are beneath the noise.

Remember that your worth is not your productivity.

Remember the awareness underneath feelings and thoughts.

Remember the breath entering your body.

Remember the sky.

Remember wonder.

Remember that life is happening now.

Modern society trains us into forgetting through “weapons of mass distraction”.

We forget our bodies.

Forget silence.

Forget nature.

Forget stillness.

Forget each other.

Forget ourselves.

So remembrance must become practice.

Not once a year in the Himalayas.

Moment to moment.

Pause before opening your laptop.

Take one full breath before replying in anger.

Feel warm water on your hands while washing dishes.

Watch sunlight moving across the floor.

Listen to birds before checking notifications.

This is mindfulness in its most alive form.

Not a technique.

A relationship.

An intimacy with existence.

And perhaps this is the great paradox:

What we are seeking is already here.

Beneath the noise.

Beneath striving.

Beneath endless becoming.

Presence is not something we create.

It is what remains when we stop abandoning this moment.

And perhaps this is why these three words matter so much now.

In an age of acceleration—

Love slows us down.

In an age of fragmentation—

Service reconnects us.

In an age of distraction—

Remembrance brings us home.

So today—

do not try to transform your whole life.

Simply pause.

Feel one breath.

Look at one person completely.

Do one anonymous act of kindness.

And remember:

You were never separate from Life.

You only forgot.

A few months ago, I was standing at a small tea stall on a cold morning in the Himalayas. Steam rose slowly from a dented steel kettle. The smell of ginger, cardamom, and woodsmoke drifted through the mountain air. A dog slept curled near the firewood stack. Somewhere in the valley below, temple bells echoed softly through the mist.

An old man approached the stall wrapped in a faded wool shawl. Before speaking, he gently placed his palms together, looked directly into the chai seller’s eyes, and said:

“Namaste.”

Not hurriedly.
Not mechanically.
But with presence.

Something subtle happened in that moment.

The interaction was no longer transactional.
It became sacred.

Two human beings meeting.
Two universes acknowledging each other.

And I remember thinking:

What if humanity’s deepest wisdom has always been hidden inside its greetings?

Because across cultures and continents, human beings have repeatedly discovered the same profound truth:

The sacred life in me honors the sacred life in you.

The Sanskrit word Namaste is often translated as:
“I bow to you.”

But its deeper essence is:
“I honor the divine consciousness that is you, which is the one divine consciousness that is me .”

Not your status.
Not your religion.
Not your success.
Not your opinions.

You.

Your essential being.

And remarkably, almost every ancient culture carries some version of this remembrance.

In Tamil culture, people say:

Vanakkam
A respectful salutation infused with reverence.

In Sikh tradition:

Sat Sri Akal
“Truth is the Timeless One.”

Not merely hello — but a reminder that beyond temporary identities, something eternal lives within us all.

In Arabic-speaking cultures:

Salaam Alaikum
“Peace be upon you.”

Imagine that.
Beginning every encounter with a blessing of peace.

In Hebrew:

Shalom
Not only peace, but wholeness, harmony, completeness.

In Bavaria, Germany:

Grüß Gott
“Greet God.”

An extraordinary phrase when you pause to feel it fully. As though every meeting between human beings is also a meeting with the divine disguised as a human.

In Hawaii:

Aloha

Far deeper than a tourist slogan.
Aloha carries love, compassion, peace, and the shared breath of life.

In Zulu tradition:

Sawubona
“I see you.”

Not your social mask.
Not your role.
You.

And perhaps this is one of the deepest human longings of all:
to be truly seen.

The Lakota people say:

Mitakuye Oyasin
“All my relations.”

A recognition that humans, animals, rivers, mountains, forests, winds, and stars are woven into one sacred web of belonging.

And in Mayan wisdom:

In Lak’ech Ala K’in
“You are another me.”

Just sit with that for a moment.

You are another me.

If humanity truly lived from this understanding, entire systems would change:
education,
economics,
politics,
business,
relationships,
the way we treat the earth itself.

Because violence becomes much harder when the “other” is recognised as another expression of oneself.

Perhaps this is why modern life feels increasingly fragmented.

We pass thousands of people without really seeing them.

We speak while distracted.

We consume conversations rather than inhabit them.

Technology has connected our devices while disconnecting our nervous systems.

We have forgotten the sacred art of encounter.

And this forgetting creates subtle suffering everywhere.

The cashier becomes invisible.
The driver becomes an obstacle.
The colleague becomes a function.
The tree becomes timber.
The ocean becomes a resource.

But sacred greetings, shared with a mindful remembrance of their deeper meanings, interrupt this trance.

They remind us:
this moment matters.

This being before me matters.

This encounter is alive.

Namaste is not merely a word.
It is a way of seeing.

A way of inhabiting reality.

A way of restoring dignity to human interaction.

And perhaps the most beautiful part is this:
you do not need to speak these traditional greetings aloud to practice them.

You can silently live them.

The next time someone speaks to you, pause fully before replying.

When serving food, do it with inward reverence.

When meeting a child, truly kneel into their world for a few seconds.

When speaking to someone elderly, soften your pace.

When walking in nature, greet the trees inwardly.

When frustrated, ask:
“What if this person is carrying unseen pain?”

This is Namaste in action.

Not performance.
Presence.

Not spirituality as identity.
Spirituality as relationship.

The Great Awakening may not arrive through dramatic miracles.It may arrive through millions of tiny sacred encounters restored to consciousness.

A smile offered slowly.
A listening presence.
A softened gaze.
Hands joined gently at the heart.

Namaste.

Sawubona.

Aloha.

Shalom.

Salaam.

In Lak’ech.

Different languages.
One remembering.

The sacred life in me honors the sacred life in you.

And perhaps that sacred life is not divided at all.

Perhaps it is one vast living presence
meeting itself through billions of forms.

Something feels unstable.

In some parts of the world, systems are fragmenting — conflict, economic volatility, institutional breakdown. In other places, we see tightening control — surveillance, polarization, shrinking freedoms, hardened ideologies. And in many societies in between, there is something subtler: exhaustion. Distrust. A thinning of shared meaning.

We are oscillating between too much chaos and too much control.

And life does not thrive at either extreme.

The Ancient Triad That Explains the Moment

There is a simple but profound triad from Indian philosophical thought that illuminates what we’re experiencing:

• Māyā – Differentiation, multiplicity, expansion

• Yama – Restraint, regulation, containment

• Dharma – Sustaining harmony, alignment, living order

In modern systems language:

• Māyā is innovation, diversity, decentralization.

• Yama is governance, boundaries, law.

• Dharma is coherence — the shared field of meaning that integrates the two.

When Māyā runs unchecked, systems fragment.
When Yama dominates without wisdom, systems suffocate.
When Dharma is strong, life flourishes in dynamic balance.

This is what Dee Hock, founder of Visa, called the Chaordic Continuum — the sweet spot between chaos and order where living systems thrive.

Today, much of the world is struggling not because we have too much freedom or too much control — but because we have too little Dharma.

Shared purpose is eroding.

And without a unifying field of meaning:

• Diversity becomes division.

• Governance becomes domination.

• Technology amplifies fear instead of wisdom.

The Nervous System of Civilization

Look closely and you’ll see the same pattern in individuals:

• Overstimulation → anxiety → chaos.

• Overregulation → rigidity → burnout.

Healthy nervous systems oscillate rhythmically between expansion and contraction. Healthy societies must do the same.

Life is not static balance.
It is rhythmic coherence.

And coherence requires something deeper than policy or power.

It requires consciousness.

A Mantra for the Moment

There is a six-syllable mantra from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition that carries a surprisingly relevant architecture for our time:

Om Mani Padme Hum

This is not about religion. It is about resonance.

• Om – Remembrance of unity.

• Mani – The jewel of compassion.

• Padme – The lotus that grows in complexity without losing purity.

• Hum – Integration and protection; disciplined embodiment.

Read through the lens of our global imbalance:

• Unity tempers fragmentation.

• Compassion softens control.

• Wisdom dignifies diversity.

• Discipline prevents collapse.

The mantra encodes a living equilibrium.

It reminds us that the answer to chaos is not more control — and the answer to control is not more rebellion.

The answer is Dharma.

What Does Dharma Look Like Today?

Dharma is not dogma.
It is not ideology.
It is not cultural dominance.

Dharma is the alignment of power with purpose.

It is when innovation serves life.
When governance protects dignity.
When wealth circulates with fairness.
When leadership arises from awareness rather than fear.

Dharma is coherence in action.

And coherence begins internally.

The Micro Before the Macro

We cannot restore planetary balance without restoring inner balance.

When we chant, reflect, meditate, or even pause consciously — we are stabilizing our own oscillation between chaos and control.

A regulated, compassionate nervous system is not small work.

It is civilizational work.

Every leader who operates from coherence shifts the field.
Every educator who models alignment strengthens Dharma.
Every system designed with both freedom and accountability moves us toward the chaordic sweet spot where life thrives.

A Reflection for You

Ask yourself:

• Where in my life am I drifting toward fragmentation?

• Where am I over-controlling?

• Where can I realign with deeper purpose?

And perhaps, for a few minutes today, sit quietly and repeat:

Om Mani Padme Hum.

Not as escape.
Not as ritual.
But as rebalancing.

Let it remind you:

Expansion is sacred.
Containment is sacred.
Alignment is essential.

The world does not need more noise.
It needs more coherence.

Dharma is not lost.

It is waiting to be remembered — in us.

If these words have found you, something in you is already ready.

Not becoming ready.

Ready now.

Perhaps every joy, every heartbreak, every success, every disappointment, every book you read, every teacher you met, every meditation, every longing, every silent question inside your heart… was quietly preparing you for this moment.

Not for another journey.

For a remembrance.

For centuries, human beings have searched for peace, meaning, awakening, God, truth, enlightenment, liberation.

And yet a strange possibility remains largely overlooked:

What if the one who has been searching… is itself made of what it seeks?

What if the awareness reading these words right now is already whole?

What if nothing essential is missing?

Today, I want to share a simple but profound pointer.

Not a philosophy.

Not a belief.

A living remembrance.

Its name is:

POUSHU

POUrna and SHUnya as ONE.

Wholeness and Emptiness as ONE.

At first glance, these two Sanskrit words seem opposite.

POUrna means fullness, completeness, wholeness.
SHUnya means emptiness, spaciousness, no-thingness.

And yet, all the great wisdom traditions point toward the same astonishing realization:

The infinite emptiness is not dead emptiness.

It is alive.

Aware.

Compassionate.

Intelligent.

Creative.

The mystics of every tradition entered this mystery through different doors.

The Zen masters called it Emptiness.

The Advaitins called it the Self.

The Sufis dissolved into Love.

Christian mystics entered this Union.

The Taoists relaxed into the Way.

Buddha pointed to No-self.

Kabbalah spoke of the Infinite.

Indigenous traditions lived in sacred relationship with all beings.

Different rivers. One ocean.

And perhaps now, even science is beginning to arrive at the shoreline of the same mystery.

Quantum physics reveals a universe where separation becomes strangely difficult to defend. Particles influence one another across vast distances in ways that challenge our ordinary understanding of isolated existence.

Neuroscience increasingly suggests that the “self” is not a fixed entity, but a dynamic construction continuously assembled by the brain.

Meditation studies show that when the Default Mode Network—the brain system associated with the narrative ego—quietens, people often report profound states of interconnectedness, compassion, timelessness, and unity.

Heart coherence research suggests that states of appreciation, love, and gratitude reorganize physiology itself.

Ecology and systems theory reveal that nothing truly exists independently. Forests communicate. Mycelial networks share nutrients. Oceans regulate climate. Your breath depends on trees, plankton, sunlight, gravity, bacteria, and stars.

The rivers of science are slowly flowing toward the same ocean the mystics entered through silence.

Not because science creates truth.

But because truth was always here.

You are not separate from LIFE.

You never were.

The great misunderstanding of humanity is very simple:

We forgot who we are.

Like waves forgetting the ocean.

And once we identified only with the wave, fear began.

Comparison began.

Striving began.

Competition began.

Civilizations were built around separation.

We began trying endlessly to become worthy, successful, secure, important, enlightened.

Exhausted waves trying to survive other waves.

But pause for a moment.

Right now.

Just pause.

Notice thoughts appearing.

Notice sensations appearing.

Notice emotions appearing.

Now notice:

Something is aware of all of them.

That awareness itself…

Does it have an age?

A nationality?

A religion?

A gender?

A boundary?

Or is it simply open, silent, aware?

The ancient teachings point toward something radically simple:

You are not merely the contents of consciousness.

You are the space in which consciousness appears.

You are not a separate fragment inside the cosmos.

The cosmos is appearing within Awareness.

Read that again slowly.

Not intellectually.

Silently.

POUSHU is not a concept to be understood by the mind.

It is a direct recognition beyond mind.

Like a Zen koan, it gently pushes the mind toward surrender.

The fullness is empty.

The emptiness is full.

The silence is alive.

The space is intelligent.

The witness and the witnessed are one movement.

And here is something important to understand:

Awakening does not necessarily take time.

Preparation may take time.

Ripening may take time.

The exhausting search may take time.

But recognition itself is instantaneous.

Like suddenly remembering your own name.

You do not gradually become Awareness.

You notice what has always been here.

You do not manufacture wholeness.

You relax into it.

Perhaps this is why all awakened beings emphasized presence.

Not because the present moment is morally superior.

But because Reality is only ever Now.

The past is memory.

The future is imagination.

Life happens here.

Breath happens here.

Love happens here.

Awareness happens here.

And strangely enough, this recognition does not remove us from ordinary life.

It brings us into intimate participation with it.

You still wash dishes.

Pay bills.

Care for children.

Run organizations.

Plant trees.

Write poetry.

Build communities.

Laugh at terrible jokes.

Cry.

Dance.

Serve.

But now there is less heaviness.

Because the separate “doer” begins to soften.

Life begins to move more naturally through you.

In one of the most beautiful paradoxes of awakening:

You remember that you are both nothing… and everything.

Empty of false identity.

Full of life.

SHUnya and POUrna as ONE.

POUSHU.

And this remembrance need not remain abstract or philosophical.

It can become deeply practical.

Very ordinary.

Very human.

Here are a few simple ways to remember during daily life:

Pause several times a day.

Three conscious breaths.

No performance.

No spiritual drama.

Just pause and remember:

“I am the space, not merely the storm.”

“I am the screen of Awarness, not the movie”.

Protect your attention.

Your attention is sacred life-force.

Modern systems compete aggressively for it because attention shapes consciousness.

Do not hand it away carelessly.

Spend time in silence.

Even a few minutes.

Not to achieve something.

To remember.

Witness thoughts without immediately believing them.

The mind is an excellent tool.

A terrible master.

Practice gratitude.

Not as forced positivity.

But as recognition of interbeing.

The water you drink once moved through clouds, rivers, trees, animals, and ancient oceans.

The atoms in your body were born in stars.

The same air you breathe was once breathed by Buddha, Jesus, Rabia, Meera, Rumi, and countless unnamed beings.

Life is astonishingly intimate.

Forgive.

Not because harmful actions are acceptable.

But because carrying separation poisons the heart.

Forgiveness is the gentle recognition that beneath all confusion, fear, conditioning, and egoic performance, we remain expressions of one life.

Serve quietly.

Help someone.

Listen deeply.

Plant trees.

Protect rivers.

Create beauty.

Feed people.

Offer encouragement.

Smile more often.

These are not “small things.”

They are sacred transmissions.

And listen carefully to inner guidance.

Life speaks softly.

Through intuition.

Through stillness.

Through resonance.

Through sudden clarity.

The awakened heart learns to listen.

You do not need to convince anyone of anything.

You only need to remember.

And live from remembrance.

That itself becomes transmission.

Some of you will become healers.

Some educators.

Some artists.

Some regenerative farmers.

Some bridge-builders.

Some compassionate entrepreneurs.

Some silent anchors of peace in troubled families.

Some will create new systems.

Some will simply love extraordinarily well.

All are sacred.

The awakened do not escape the world.

They become instruments through which LIFE heals the world.

And perhaps this is the deeper meaning of:

Love. Serve. Remember.

Love — because separation was never ultimately true.

Serve — because all life is interconnected.

Remember — because you have never truly been anything other than this.

There is a profound stillness beneath the turbulence of our age.

A silence beneath the noise.

A peace beneath the striving.

A vast awareness holding galaxies, oceans, forests, bacteria, birdsong, grief, birth, death, and stars with incomprehensible tenderness.

That Silence is not elsewhere.

It is what you are.

So perhaps now, at the end of this series, nothing more needs to be added.

Only remembered.

Pause.

Breathe.

Look gently.

Notice the awareness already here.

The peace already here.

The aliveness already here.

You are not merely a person trying to survive in the universe.

You are the Silence in which universes appear.

You are POUSHU:

POUrna and SHUnya as ONE.

Whole and Empty.

Nothing and Everything.

Stillness and Dance.

The Ocean and the Wave.

About forty years ago, when we started Pragati Leadership and spoke openly about building a business rooted in love, some of my close friends laughed.

One of them said, with great affection and complete certainty:

“You’re trying to make snowballs in hell.”

The implication was obvious.

Business is hard. Competitive. Ruthless. Fear-driven. Extractive.

And love?

Love was soft. Naive. Impractical.

Certainly not a business strategy.

And yet… we stayed with it.

Not because we were idealistic, but because something deeper felt undeniably true.

We had seen too many brilliant people become exhausted, cynical, disconnected from themselves and their families. Too many organizations slowly losing their soul while increasing quarterly profits. Too many leaders succeeding outwardly while quietly collapsing inwardly.

Something was off.

Not in humanity.

In the paradigm.

Over the years, we began to discover something beautiful:

Care for people, care for customers, care for the Earth, care for partners, care for profits, and care for purpose are not enemies.

They can dance together.

But only when the dance is held by something larger.

Love.

Now before some of my corporate friends spill their coffee, let us reclaim this word carefully.

Love does not mean becoming weak, vague, or incapable of making difficult decisions.

Love means:

• awareness

• care

• connection

• dignity

• responsibility

• service

It means remembering that we are deeply interconnected.

That no organization can remain healthy while destroying the lives of the people within it.

That no economy can thrive while poisoning the rivers, the air, and the soil from which life itself emerges.

That no leader can create trust while living in fear.

What we discovered at Pragati Leadership was surprisingly simple:

When people feel deeply seen, respected, trusted, and connected to meaning, something extraordinary happens.

Creativity rises.

Collaboration becomes natural.

Conflict softens.

People stop merely “working” and begin contributing.

Miracles begin appearing quietly in corridors, conversations, and communities.

I remember organizations where walls between siloed departments dissolved after authentic dialogue. People called it a “meltdown”.Leaders who rediscovered tenderness after years of emotional armor. Teams that moved from exhaustion to shared purpose simply because they finally paused long enough to listen to one another as human beings.

Not as “ human resources.”

As LIFE.

And strangely enough, many of the best business ideas emerged not from stress… but from presence.

Not from panic… but from connection.

The deeper intelligence of life seems to function far more elegantly than the anxious human mind.

Neem Karoli Baba (who inspired Steve Jobs) distilled the whole journey into three simple words:

Love. Serve. Remember.

Remember who you are.

Remember what others are.

Remember that LIFE itself is a movement of giving, receiving, interdependence, and sacred reciprocity.

Much of modern business has become trapped in a state of chronic forgetting.

We have mistaken speed for progress.
Consumption for fulfillment.
Extraction for success.
Busyness for meaning.

And in doing so, we have slowly normalized exhaustion, loneliness, ecological destruction, and quiet despair.

But we have not lost our humanity.

We have only forgotten it.

The beautiful thing about forgetting is this:

It can end in an instant.

The moment we pause and return our attention to this moment.

The moment we breathe consciously.

The moment we forgive.

The moment we stop trying to become worthy—and relax into the miracle of already belonging to LIFE as honoured guests.

In our book One Wholesome World, we explored the possibility that all of life is held in a vast field of compassion and awesome intelligence . That we are not isolated waves fighting for survival, but expressions of one living ocean of love.

And perhaps this is what the best organizations unknowingly rediscover:

That business is not fundamentally about transactions.

It is about relationships.

It is about trust.

It is about shared becoming.

Tim Sanders called love “the killer app.” Mohammad Anwar and his colleagues called it a business strategy. David Wolfe and Nick Good spoke of grace.

Different words.

Same remembering.

LIFE itself may be the greatest enterprise ever created.

Trres in forests collaborate.
Cells cooperate.
Mycelial networks share nutrients.
Your heart serves your entire body 24/7 without sending invoices, or asking for paid leave!

Nature seems to understand something we forgot.

And perhaps the future belongs to organizations courageous enough to remember.

Organizations where:

People and their evolution matter deeply, purpose matters deeply, the Earth matters deeply, and inner wellbeing and health matter deeply.

Not as nice slogans on walls.

As lived reality.

So where do we begin?

Very simply.

• * Focus more on life-giving forces than fear-producing forces.

• Protect your attention—it is sacred currency.

• Use your time wisely; your life is made of it.

• Pause often.

• Listen deeply.

• Forgive quickly.

• Serve generously.

• Spend more time creating than complaining.

• And once in a while, sit silently and feel the miracle of being alive.

This is not idealism anymore.

It is survival.

And perhaps even more beautifully—

it is the beginning of a far more joyful civilization.

So yes…

The Strange Nature of Value

Value is not fixed.

A Hermès Togo Birkin handbag costing $ 54,000 ( ₹51,00,000) in one context…
is meaningless in a desert where water is life. The bag cannot quench thirst.

A glass of water can save a life.

And yet, much of modern life is organized around constructed value:

• status

• symbols

• accumulation

• comparison

These are not wrong. But they are not ultimate.

There is another kind of value: Quieter. Deeper. More enduring.

• connection

• meaning

• aliveness

• love

• presence

The tragedy is not that we don’t value these.

The tragedy is:

we forget that we do.

What Becomes Clear at the End

When people reach the end of life, something profound happens.

Clarity.

The noise drops.

The essential remains.

From thousands of conversations with those nearing death in a hospice in Australia, Bronnie Ware , a nurse found a simple pattern emerging (The Top Five Regrets of the Dying) :

People do not regret what they did not own.

They regret what they did not live.

• not living true to themselves

• working too much at the cost of life

• not expressing what they felt

• losing touch with those they loved

• not allowing themselves to be happy

Notice this carefully. These are not failures of success.

They are failures of alignment.

What Humanity Already Knows

Across the world, when people are asked what truly matters, the answers converge.

Not into ideology. But into humanity.

A Valuegraphics study, led by David Allison, surveyed over 500,000 people across 180 countries and 152 languages to map “what everyone on Earth actually cares about”. The project found that regardless of demographic stereotypes, humans share these foundational needs globally :

· Family: Universally ranked as the top priority.

· Relationships & Belonging: The desire for connection and community.

· Financial Security: The need for stability and safety.

· Personal Growth: A shared ambition for improvement.

· Health/Wellbeing: A top concern, especially during times of crisis.

Across cultures, languages, geographies—

the human heart is remarkably consistent.

The heart is not confused.
The mind… often is.

The Great Misalignment

Now, let us look honestly. If these are our true values…

why do our lives often look so different?

• We long for connection… yet spend hours scrolling

• We seek meaning… yet remain in work that drains us

• We value presence… yet live in distraction

• We desire simplicity… yet accumulate complexity

This is not a moral failure. It is a design problem.

We have built lives—and systems—
that do not reflect what we truly value.

And then we wonder why we feel restless.

Returning to What is True

The shift does not begin outside. It begins with noticing.

Pause. Just for a moment.

What truly nourishes you?

What leaves you feeling empty?

Not what you have been told.

Not what looks good.

But what you actually feel—when you are honest.

Your body knows.

Your heart knows.

You have always known.

Designing a Life Around What Matters

This is where responsibility begins.

Not as burden. As clarity.

Look at your life through a simple lens:

Time
Where is it going?

Attention
What are you feeding?

Relationships
Are they deep—or just frequent?

Work
Is it aligned—or endured?

Consumption
What is “enough” for you?

“Enough” is not a limitation. It is freedom.

Without “enough,” there is no end.

Without an end, there is no peace.

From Personal to Civilizational Shift

When even a few individuals begin to live differently— something changes.

Families shift.
Communities shift.
Organizations shift.

Because value shapes behavior.

Behavior shapes culture.

Culture shapes civilization.

This is how the world changes.

Quietly. From within.

We are not here to correct you.

We are here to remind you.

You already know what matters.

You always have.

So let us ask you, simply:

What is truly worth your life?

And if nothing changed—

would you be at peace with how you are living?

In our last post , we heard the call—you are the imaginal cells. And there are many more around…many more than you can imagine! Some are known to you, and many are still unknown to you .

And naturally, some questions then arise: how do I find these other imaginal cells? How can the passion and co-creations of imaginal cells spread? Just like the dance of starlings in the sky, can there be a murmuration of imaginal cells on earth?

It helps to look at something very simple. A pot of warm milk sits quietly, and a spoonful of yogurt culture is added.

No drama, no scaling plan—and yet, everything changes. Slowly, invisibly, completely. That’s how living systems transform.

Not by force, but by coherence and emergence.

The same is true for imaginal cells. They don’t try to convince the whole system.

They find each other. They connect. They co-create.

And in that connection, something new becomes possible.

Not scale—connection.

Not noise—resonance.

And perhaps this is why something deeper is stirring in the world right now. The old ways are fraying, questions are ripening, and people are quietly becoming more available for something real.

Teilhard de Chardin once spoke of harnessing the energies of love as a new kind of fire. It no longer feels like a distant prophecy. It feels alive and present. Now!

So what actually is serving this spread? Not more information, not more control. What is helping is something beautifully human—spaces where people can come together honestly, speak what matters, listen deeply, and discover what wants to emerge between them.

And in their remembering,
they left behind doorways.

You are walking through those doorways now.

To the Imaginal Cells

You who feel a little out of place…

You who cannot fully subscribe to the old ways of living, working, relating…

You who sense that something deeper is unfolding—

We see you.

You are not here to fix the old system.

You are here to outgrow it.

And before you rush to “do” something grand…

pause.

There is something more fundamental.

Remember Who You Are

You are not a separate fragment trying to survive.

You are LIFE—
temporarily appearing as a human being.

That quiet awareness in which your thoughts arise…
That stillness beneath your emotions…
That presence that remains, no matter what changes…

That is you.

When you forget this,
you feel small, anxious, burdened.

When you remember—

you relax.

And suddenly, LIFE begins to move through you,
with far more intelligence than effort ever could.

A Small Secret (Don’t Tell Your Ego)

You were not chosen.

You remembered.

And remembering is not a one-time event.

It is a gentle returning.

Again. And again. And again.

What Now? (Yes, This Part Matters)

Do not wait for perfect clarity.

Do not wait for the world to stabilize.

(That may take a while.)

Begin simply.

With Yourself

• Sit quietly for a few minutes each day

• Feel your breath

• Ask, gently: “Who is aware of this moment?”

No need to answer.

Just notice.

With Others

Find each other.

Yes, really.

Call someone who resonates.

Even a 15-minute conversation.

No agenda.

Just presence.

Meet.

Walk.

Eat together.

Cook something simple.

(LIFE has a soft corner for shared meals.)

With the Earth

Plant something.

Touch soil.

Grow a tree.

Not as a project.

As a relationship.

Cluster, Connect, Co-Create

Imaginal cells do not work alone.

They find each other.

They form clusters.

They strengthen through connection.

Open Space Technology helps big time.

So stay in touch.

Regularly.

Even when nothing “important” is happening.

Especially then.

Because coherence grows in the quiet spaces.

And Please… Don’t Forget to Live

Sing.

Dance.

Laugh.

Make food together.

Celebrate small things.

This is not a distraction from the work.

This is the work.

A Gentle Urgency

We say this with love.

And also with clarity.

If not you… who?
If not now… when?

The world does not need more information.

It needs living examples.

Of presence.
Of connection.
Of love in action.

Trust that.

Message from Life

There is a story from nature that may help us see more clearly.When a caterpillar begins to transform, its body does not simply grow wings.

It dissolves.

Inside the chrysalis, much of what once defined it breaks down into a kind of cellular soup.From the outside, it looks like the end.

But within that seeming chaos, something extraordinary is happening.

Small clusters of cells begin to form.They carry a different blueprint.

They are called imaginal cells.

At first, they are few. The existing system recognizes them as unfamiliar—sometimes even attacks them. But they persist.

They find each other. They connect.

And slowly, a new form begins to emerge.

Not by fighting the old. But by becoming the new.

And then, one day—

a butterfly.

A Quiet Recognition

If you are reading this, there is a possibility…

that you are one of those cells.

Do you sometimes feel:

• that the old ways of working and living don’t quite make sense anymore?

• that success, as defined by the world, feels incomplete?

• that you are drawn to explore, to question, to grow—within and without?

• that relationships, meaning, and wholeness matter more than metrics alone?

Why It Feels Uncomfortable

Imaginal cells do not always feel at home in the caterpillar.

They can feel:

• out of place

• misunderstood

• alone

Because they are oriented toward what is becoming,
not what has been.

But here is something important to remember:

You are not alone.

There are many. Across cities, villages, organizations, communities—

people who are sensing the same shift.

People who are ready to

• connect

• converse

• co-create

A new way of being.

You may not see each other immediately.

But you are already connected.

The Invisible Web

Look again at the image before you. People, animals, nature—all connected by threads of light. This is not fantasy.

It is a way of seeing.

We are already part of an invisible web.

Held together by something far more intelligent than we can fully comprehend.

An intelligence that knows:

• when to dissolve

• when to create

• when to connect

You might call these connections subtle. Or poetic. Or even impractical.

And yet—everything in LIFE is connected and interdependent, governed by an Awesome Intelligence which to me feels like the real AI!

Even your own body is a network of trillions of cells working in coherence.

Why would humanity be any different?

From Isolation to Conscious Connection

The invitation now is simple.

Find each other.

Not through labels. Not through ideology. But through resonance :

a deeply felt sense of coming home to wholeness.

I sometimes call these beings Jugnus— the Hindi word for fireflies.

Those who keep their light shining, even in the dark. Not loudly. But steadily.

When fireflies begin to gather, dance together, murmurate…

something magical happens.

Love and Light multiplies and expand .

In Closing

You were not chosen.

You remembered.

Remembered that:

• LIFE(Love in Full Expression) is one whole

• you are not separate

• your presence matters

The old world may still be dissolving.

That is okay.

Because something else is already forming.

The butterfly is not a distant dream.

She is already on her way.

So perhaps the question is not:

“What is happening to the world?”

But:

“Who else can I find… and what is LIFE calling us to create together?”

Stay open.Stay curious . Stay connected.

And keep your light shining bright.

The Great Awakening — Post 6

Let us begin, not with a concept— but with a quiet noticing.

Your heart… is beating.

Not because you told it to.
Not because you remembered to.
But because something vast, intelligent, and deeply loving
is moving through you… as you.

We use the word “health” so casually.

We think of it as fixing something.
Managing something.
Optimizing something.

But what if health is not something to be achieved?

What if it is something to be remembered?

Health is wholeness. And wholeness is our natural state.

In Sanskrit, the word for health is Swasth.

Swa — the Self
Sth — to abide

To be healthy is to abide in your Self.

Not the small, separate self. But the deeper Self—
the one that is not separate from LIFE.

You are not just a wave.

You are the ocean… expressing itself as a wave.

When you forget this,
there is fragmentation.

When you remember this,
there is health.

Pause for a moment.

Feel your breath.

Notice how it arrives.
How it leaves.

You are being breathed. Life is living you.

If we look closely, even scientifically,
the body itself reveals an intelligence that is almost beyond comprehension.

And yet, most of us move through life
barely aware of this miracle.

We rush.
We scroll.
We consume.

But we do not pause long enough to feel:

This is astonishing. This is sacred. This is LIFE.

the intelligence in your body,
the interconnectedness of life,

The need to control reduces.

What is LIFE asking us to see here?

We are not separate.

We are not islands, breathing private air.

We are part of a shared field.

What one does affects all.

And slowly, through such crises, a deeper question arises:

What have we forgotten?

From Crisis → Humility

Crisis humbles.

It gently dissolves the illusion of control.

We begin to see that:

• technology alone cannot save us

• fragmented action cannot solve systemic issues

• individual success cannot compensate for collective breakdown

And in that softening, something opens. A willingness to listen. To learn.

To come together.

We begin to rediscover:

Take something as simple and profound as vetiver grass (Khus in India) .

A plant that can:

• stabilize soil

• purify water

• and sequester carbon from the atmosphere into the earth

Effortlessly. Silently. Regeneratively.

And suddenly:

Hope is no longer an idea.

It becomes a felt reality.

Awe returns.

From Awe → Responsibility

And from awe… something natural arises.

Responsibility.

Not as obligation.

But as response-ability—the ability to respond.

When you begin to see:

• what is possible

• what is already emerging

• what LIFE is offering

you can no longer remain passive.

A shared vision begins to take shape.

Something like:

“AQI less than 50 across India by 2030.”

Not as a distant aspiration.

But as a living invitation.

And then a deeper movement begins.

You ask:

• What are my gifts?

• Where can I contribute?

• Who can I join hands with?

Boundaries begin to dissolve.

Not in theory—but in action.

Swami Vivekananda called for this beautifully:

“Bring all the forces of good together. Do not care under what banner you march. Do not care what be your colour—green, blue, or red—but mix up all the colours and produce that intense glow of white, the colour of love. Ours is to work. The results will take care of themselves.”

This is responsibility.

Alive. Collective. Rooted in love.

From Responsibility → New Measures

And when responsibility awakens, systems begin to shift.

Not through force. But through new ways of seeing value.

Business begins to ask:

Not just profit—

But:

• Purpose

• Planet

• People

• Profits

Cities begin to reflect:

What does wellbeing mean?
What does clean air feel like?
What does “enough” look like?

Compassionate cities like Pune begin to explore:

• indicators of wellbeing

• quality of air

• quality of relationships

• quality of life

Because what we measure shapes what we create.

AI (Artificial Intelligence)

From a systems perspective, this arc is deeply coherent.

Crisis creates disruption.
Disruption reduces rigidity.
Reduced rigidity allows new patterns to emerge.

Transformation does not happen through uniform change.

It happens when:

• individuals shift

• small groups align

• networks form

• and coherence spreads

Like a spoonful of yogurt transforming warm milk.

It does not force change.

It introduces a living culture.

And given the right conditions, it spreads—naturally, completely.

Human systems work in the same way.

A few individuals, living with awareness and responsibility,
can influence entire networks.

Seeds of Hope

When we reclaim LIFE—
starting with our own awareness, our own responsibility—

something remarkable happens.

It ripples.

Into families.
Into neighborhoods.
Into communities.

And yes, something like a miracle begins to unfold.

Interestingly:

RECLAIM… anagrams into MIRACLE.

But we are not creating miracles.

We are returning to the miracle that is already here.

Life on Earth.

Breathing. Flowing. Intelligent.

And as we begin to listen more deeply—

we find ourselves no longer struggling against LIFE,

but dancing with it.

Civilizations do not reclaim LIFE by going backward.

They reclaim LIFE by becoming more conscious, more connected, more aligned.

Crisis is already here.

The question is not whether change is possible.

LIFE does what it has always done.

“We have lost our soul.” It happens quietly. Gradually. Almost invisibly.

Civilizations do not collapse first in their systems.

Across the world today, millions of young people are more connected than ever—
and yet, internally, more lost than ever.

• The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 7 adolescents globally experiences a mental health disorder

• Depression and anxiety among youth have risen sharply in the last decade

• Suicide is now among the leading causes of death for young people worldwide

And alongside this, something else has quietly taken hold:

• The average young person spends 6–8 hours a day on screens

• Much of it on social media platforms designed to capture attention, not nourish awareness

  

A common scene now, almost everywhere:

A young person eating a meal…
scrolling through a screen…
barely tasting the food…
barely present to the moment.

The senses are active.
But the experience is not being received.

And somewhere within, a deeper question is going unanswered:

Why am I here? What is my life about?

This is not a failure of individuals.

It is a loss of connection to the inner ground of being.

And then, slowly, this disconnection extends outward.

We begin to lose touch with each other.

You may have seen this:

A family gathered for dinner.
Three generations sitting together.
Food on the table.
Time available.

And yet—

Each person is on their own device.
Each one in a separate digital world.

No eye contact.
No shared laughter.
No listening.

Only the dog, perhaps, is fully present…
aware of the food, the people, the moment.

It is almost tender.
And deeply revealing.

We have not lost the ability to connect.

We have lost the habit of presence.

And with that, something essential to being human begins to fade.

And then, the deepest layer.

Our relationship with nature itself.

When I was born in Srinagar, Kashmir in 1955, the atmospheric CO₂ level was about 314 parts per million.

When the Earth Summit was held in 1992, it had risen to 367 ppm.

Today, on 31st March 2026, it is approximately 428 ppm.

The threshold for irreversible change was once thought to be around 350 ppm.

We crossed it long ago.

I still remember the taste of vegetables from our homestead garden in Srinagar.

Grown simply.
Using what the earth and animals offered—yes, even our personal manure.

The taste was alive.
Sweet. Fragrant. Nourishing.

Today, in many parts of the world, including the United States, much of our food comes from industrial systems—efficient, scalable, and deeply extractive.

And when you taste it… something is missing.

It looks perfect.
But it tastes flat.

Over the last two centuries, a fossil-fuel-based civilization has reshaped the planet.

Plastics.
Pollution.
Pesticides.
Chemical fertilizers.

And nearly 1,000 gigatons of CO₂ have accumulated in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution began. Perhaps it was not only an industrial revolution.

Perhaps, in some ways, it has been an industrial devolution. A movement away from relationship… toward control.

The Pattern Beneath It All

The Wisdom Council has named this pattern simply.

It unfolds in five quiet movements:

We begin in awe.
We shift toward control.
Control becomes abstraction.
Abstraction becomes knowledge worship.
And eventually, growth becomes empty.

At first, there is wonder.

A child looking at the sky.
A farmer sensing the seasons.
A human being feeling connected to LIFE.

Then slowly:

“We understand this. We can control this.”

And something subtle is lost.

We stop relating.
We start managing.

Reality becomes data.
Relationships become functions.

We accumulate knowledge—
but lose wisdom.

We grow—
but do not deepen.

And eventually, without intending it:

we become disconnected—from ourselves, from each other, from Nature and from LIFE.

AI (Artificial Intelligence) perspective

From a systems perspective, these patterns are measurable.

• Increased screen time correlates with rising anxiety and reduced attention spans

• Urbanization increases density but often reduces meaningful human interaction

• Industrial agriculture increases yield but reduces soil vitality and nutritional density

• Fossil fuel systems increase productivity while destabilizing ecological balance

Modern systems are extraordinarily efficient at scaling output.

But they are not designed to preserve:

• presence

• relational depth

• ecological harmony

So the system produces what it is designed for….the perfect storm!

And something else quietly erodes.

A Gentle Mirror

Before asking what is happening to the world,
there is a quieter, more intimate question:

Where am I participating in this?

• Where have I drifted away from my own inner truth?

• Where have I replaced presence with distraction?

• Where have my conversations become shallow?

• Where have I stopped listening—truly listening?

• Where have I lost touch with nature, with the living world?

This is not about blame.

It is about remembering.

Because civilizations are not separate entities.

They are reflections of how we live,
moment by moment, choice by choice.

In closing

The loss of soul is not final. It is a signal.

A quiet call back.

Back to presence.
Back to connection.
Back to LIFE.

The question is not whether civilization has lost its way.
The question is: where and when am I ready to return?

We have become very good at control.

We know how to optimize, extract, accelerate, and scale. We can measure almost everything, predict many things, and increasingly, we can engineer outcomes that earlier generations would have called miraculous.

And yet, quietly, almost invisibly, something essential slipped out of our awareness.

Not dramatically. Not suddenly.

Just… gently forgotten.

We forgot our relationship with LIFE.

There is a way of being with LIFE that does not come from domination, and does not come from submission. It comes from something far more intimate, far more natural.

The Wisdom Council would say it simply:

Participation without possession.

You do not own LIFE. You cannot stand outside it and manage it as an object. And you are not separate from it either. You are an expression of it—LIFE, briefly aware of itself, moving through a human form.

When this is seen, even for a moment, something softens.

Awe returns.

And awe, strangely, is not a luxury. It is a form of accuracy.

Because when awe is absent, intelligence begins to harden. It becomes clever, but not wise. Action becomes efficient, but not aligned. Progress begins to create imbalance, even while appearing “successful”.

To stand in awe is not to withdraw from action. It is to recognize, very quietly:

I am part of something immensely intelligent. I do not need to control everything. I need to learn how to participate well.

If we pause for a moment and look—not philosophically, but simply, factually—the sheer awesome intelligence and generosity of LIFE begins to reveal itself. Look at these examples:

• There are over 30,000 edible plant species on this planet. We cultivate fewer than 300. And from those, nearly 60% of the world’s food comes from just three crops: rice, wheat, and maize. Amnesia.

The limitation is not in LIFE. It is in how narrowly we have learned to engage with it.

• Or take energy. The sun continuously offers about 121,000 terawatts of energy to Earth. Humanity uses around 20 terrawats. Six thousand times more energy is available than we humans currently need.

Scarcity, in many ways, is not a planetary deficit. It is a design deficit.

• And then there is the quiet miracle you carry within your amazing body.

  Inside your gut lives an entire ecosystem—around 100 trillion microbes, belonging to roughly a thousand species. A living community, weighing nearly two kilograms, helping you digest food, producing essential vitamins like Vitamin K, regulating your immune system, even influencing your mood and mental wellbeing.

A vast, intelligent factory—working continuously, without applause, without acknowledgment.Most of us are not even aware of it. We rarely pause to feel gratitude for it.

And this interdependence does not stop there.

• The water in your body has moved through rivers, clouds, soil, plants, animals, and countless human beings before you. The very atoms you breathe have cycled through history in ways we can barely imagine.

  The same argon atoms in your breath may have once passed through the lungs of those we revere—Jesus, Buddha, Meera, Rabia, Mohammed.

Nothing is truly separate. What we call “me” is a temporary arrangement within a vast, continuous flow.

From a systems perspective, this is not poetic—it is precise.

LIFE operates as a deeply interconnected system, where abundance, intelligence, and interdependence are foundational. But the systems we have designed—economic, industrial, organizational—often behave as if separation is real and control is possible.

So we design for extraction instead of regeneration. For optimization in parts, rather than coherence of the whole. For short-term efficiency, rather than long-term vitality.

And then we are surprised by the consequences.

This is where leadership itself is being quietly invited to evolve.

Not through a new model or framework, but through a shift in orientation.

From control… to stewardship.

From the question, “How do I manage this?”

to a more alive question:

“How do I serve the whole that this is part of?”

From designing with certainty and arrogance, to designing with humility and reverence.

From extracting value, to participating in the unfolding of LIFE—what we might call Love in Full Expression.

This is not abstract. It becomes very real in small, simple moments.

Even now, as you read this.

You can pause.

Feel your breath.

Notice that you did not create it. You are not fully controlling it. And yet, it is sustaining you—effortlessly.

Just stay with that for a moment.

And then gently expand your attention—to the food you eat, the water you drink, the people you meet, the systems you are part of.

And ask, not as a demand, but as a quiet inquiry:

Am I relating to LIFE… or trying to control it?

We did not lose our relationship with LIFE because we were ignorant.

We lost it because we became successful—fast, powerful, effective—without pausing to reflect on the deeper intelligence we were part of.

But nothing essential has been lost.

It is still here.

In every breath. In every system. In every moment where awareness returns.

Participation without possession.

Not as an idea to believe.

But as a way to live.

And when that shifts, even slightly, something begins to realign.

Quietly. Naturally. From within.

And from there… everywhere.
