Here is the story of this asshole

Rome: United States prosecutors have charged an Australian man with 11 counts of fraud, computer security breaches and money laundering in an alleged cyberscam that skimmed more than $47 million ($US31 million) from elderly Americans across several states.

Andrew Brolese, a dual Australian-Italian citizen, was arrested by Italian border police at Malpensa Airport in Milan on October 18 after he landed on a flight from Singapore.

According to investigators, Brolese, 44, is a resident of Australia, New Zealand and Monaco. He had been wanted by the FBI for more than three years for alleged crimes in states including Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee.

After his arrest, Brolese was transferred to Busto Arsizio prison, 35 kilometres north of Milan, where he is facing extradition to the US.

According to his indictment, released by the Department of Justice in Washington, DC, Brolese and his partner allegedly used “malicious pop-ups” in an international conspiracy to disable users’ computers and direct them to fake call centres where victims were asked to pay for technical support to restore their service.

The indictment claims that the pair, through their company Digital Marketing Support Services (DMSS), “knowingly and intentionally devised and intended to devise a scheme and artifice to defraud and to obtain money and property by means of materially false and fraudulent pretences, representations and promises”.

“[DMSS], along with its affiliated entities, was a company incorporated in the Seychelles that published and sold malicious pop-ups as a means of generating customer traffic for call centres,” the indictment says.

“At least 10 of the victims of the tech support scheme were over the age of 55,” the indictment says.

Victims included residents of Chattanooga in Tennessee and Charlotte in North Carolina.

The fraud is alleged to have occurred between 2016 and 2021. Brolese and his partner are accused of using “malicious pop-ups” that mimicked system fatal error screens, known colloquially as “blue screens of death”.

“Other malicious pop-ups displayed messages suggesting that users’ perusal of pornographic websites had resulted in the installation of malware on their computers,” the indictment says.

Italian border police were alerted by Interpol and acted on an arrest warrant issued by the North Carolina District Court after a lengthy investigation by the FBI and experts from Italy’s cyber police at the Italian Embassy in Washington, DC.

It is unclear how many victims were affected or whether there were other victims targeted outside the US. Italian authorities have declined to comment.

A spokesperson for the US Department of Justice said the government did not comment on extradition cases until the defendant had been returned to the US.

Under US law, the man could face up to 30 years in prison if found guilty of defrauding more than 10 victims over the age of 55.

Where in the fiery depths are you finding these people, and what twisted carnival tests are you running to decide who’s attractive or intelligent? Dustbin : Well, I very rarely shower, it’s bad for your skin. The chemicals in the water shred your body of nutrients. I do a hell of a lot of drugs and drink a hell of a lot of alcohol, which prepares me for my day of paid shitposting.

Patrick : Who in their right mind would be paying you to shitpost?

Patrick : Thats exactly what your mother said, so when did you realise you were a complete asshole?

Imagine this,

You’re slumped on the couch, half alive, half buttered from the industrial quantity of popcorn you’ve been shovelling into your face like a deranged circus seal. The movie is pause, some heroic idiot frozen mid explosion, and you glance around your living room like a man waking up in a motel he definitely didn’t book.

Everything looks normal. Too normal.
The couch.
The walls.
The fan humming like a bored helicopter.
Your phone glowing with the faint threat of responsibility.
You even remember your own name, which is always a suspicious sign.

A perfectly standard Tuesday evening, right?

But then the thought hits you, sharp, uninvited, and absolutely unhinged,

What if none of this is real?

What if the couch is a hallucination, the popcorn is a government psy op, and you’re actually strapped to a cosmic dentist chair somewhere in the outer rings of Saturn while interdimensional bureaucrats poke at your brain with clipboards?

What if the fan isn’t a fan at all, but the low mechanical growl of the simulation engine struggling to render your living room because you paused the movie and broke the narrative flow?

What if the only real thing in the room is the creeping suspicion that you’ve been lied to since birth?

Suddenly the popcorn tastes different.
Suddenly the couch feels hostile.
Suddenly Tuesday is a threat.

And you sit there, staring into the void, thinking,

Christ. I should’ve just kept the movie playing.

You might be a Boltzmann brain, my friend, yes, you, sitting there with your Tuesday night sanity hanging by a thread, and if that phrase sounds like a science fiction plot twist cooked up by a deranged screenwriter on mescaline, hold your horses, tighten your seatbelt, and maybe pour a stiff drink, because this fever dream actually crawls straight out of real physics.

Picture it,
You’re not a person.
You’re not a story.
You’re not even a character in the cosmic sitcom.

You’re a randomly generated consciousness blob, this might explain most of my biological family lulz, spontaneously popping into existence out of the quantum chaos like some hallucinating space jellyfish. No childhood. No parents. No memories. Just boom, you appear, fully convinced you’ve lived a whole life, because the universe coughed you up with a pre installed backstory.

That’s the Boltzmann brain.

A cosmic prank.
A physics approved nightmare.
A theoretical middle finger from the universe itself.

And the worst part?
The scientists who talk about this aren’t fringe lunatics scribbling equations on diner napkins. No, these are respectable, lab coated professionals calmly suggesting that you might be a floating brain hallucinating your entire existence while the rest of the universe is off doing something completely different.

It’s the kind of idea that makes you want to grab the nearest physicist by the collar and scream, “WHY WOULD YOU TELL ME THIS?”

But they do.
And they’re serious.
And now you’re stuck wondering whether your whole life is just a cosmic glitch, a quantum burp, a temporary hallucination in the void.

So buckle up.
Because if the universe can spawn you out of nowhere with fake memories and a fake world…

Then physics isn’t just stranger than fiction,

Because once the mirror starts acting funny, your brain follows suit. Suddenly you’re thinking, What if none of this is real? What if I’m the only conscious creature in this whole cosmic carnival and everyone else is just a cardboard cutout propped up by the universe to keep me from panicking?

And that’s when the madness kicks in, the philosophical acid trip, the intellectual bender, the moment where you realise solipsism isn’t just a theory… it’s a full blown psychological bar fight.

You stand there in the bathroom, staring at your own face like it owes you money, and the reflection stares back with that smug, glassy expression, the look of a man who knows something you don’t. The fluorescent lights buzz overhead like angry hornets. The tiles start sweating. Your reflection tilts its head a fraction of a degree too far, like it’s testing the limits of the simulation.

Solipsism.
Christ.
The philosophical equivalent of waking up in the desert with no pants and a half empty bottle of tequila.

The idea that you, yes, you, the jittery primate in front of the mirror, might be the only conscious being in existence. Everyone else? Actors. NPCs. Background noise. The barista who spelled your name wrong, the neighbour who keeps mowing at 6 AM, even your own mother, all elaborate props in the cosmic stage play designed exclusively for your deranged amusement.

It’s the kind of theory that makes you want to sprint into the street screaming, “SHOW ME THE REAL PEOPLE!” while the universe calmly hands you another hallucination wearing a name tag.

And the worst part?
There’s no way to prove it wrong.
No test. No experiment. No escape hatch.

Just you, the mirror, and the creeping suspicion that your reflection is about to lean forward and whisper,

“You’re alone in here, kid.”

Now that’s solipsism, the philosophical horror show, the ego driven fever dream, the ultimate plot twist baked into the fabric of reality.

Imagine this,

You’re walking through your childhood home, that old psychological minefield, but something’s off. Not in the usual “this place gave me emotional trench foot” way. No, this time the house feels… clean. Wrongly clean. Suspiciously clean. Like someone took your memories, ran them through a car wash, and slapped a fresh coat of paint over the trauma.

The furniture’s different.
The walls are brighter.
The heavy, suffocating atmosphere, the one Narcissists generate like second hand smoke, is gone.

Even the floorboards your father hacked open to stash guns and “valuables” have been patched up, smoothed over, erased like a crime scene the universe got tired of remembering. No bullet hole in your bedroom window. No ghosts lurking in the corners. Just a house pretending it never witnessed any madness at all.

And that’s when the Ship of Theseus kicks down the door.

Because if every piece of your childhood home has been replaced, the paint, the furniture, the floorboards, the emotional radiation, is it still the same house? Or is it some philosophical imposter wearing your memories like a cheap Halloween costume?

The Ship of Theseus asks,
If you replace a ship plank by plank until none of the original wood remains, is it still the same ship?

Your brain answers,
Christ, I don’t know, but this place feels like a replica built by a contractor who never met my family and didn’t fear for his life.

You walk through the hallway, and every step feels like a lie. The house looks familiar, but not yours. It’s the Disneyland version of your childhood, sanitized, polished, stripped of the chaos that made you who you are. A museum exhibit curated by someone who wanted to protect visitors from the truth.

And suddenly you’re wondering,

If the house can be replaced piece by piece until it becomes something new…
What about you?

How many memories can be repainted?
How many scars can be plastered over?
How many parts of yourself can be swapped out before the person walking through this refurbished childhood isn’t the same creature who survived it?

You stand there, in the middle of the living room, feeling like a tourist in your own past, and the Ship of Theseus whispers,

“Everything changes, kid. The question is whether you still call it home.”

If you’ve made it this far, past the philosophical landmines, past the existential booby traps, past the moment where you wondered if your couch, your childhood home, or your own reflection might be lying to you, then congratulations. You’re already in deeper than most people ever dare to go.

You want more.

Not the polite, surface level “oh that was interesting” kind of more.
No, the dangerous kind.
