That time of the year is upon us, when I disappear to deserts, mountains, and the Balearic Sea. I’ll be away for a little over a month starting soon, but I’ll also be taking a medical hiatus in October. I’m doing my best to plan around my limited availability. My last weeks before late September are filling quicker than I anticipated.

From August 11th to September 23rd, this fox will be unattainable. There might be some posts on social media and the spicy places, but otherwise I’ll be largely offline. I’ll respond to my email or texts periodically but not promptly.

I’ll be taking a medical hiatus from October 1st to October 15th. I’ll be having surgery, so recovery time may be longer or shorter. Any support during this unexpected time off will be much appreciated. I’m happily booking Chicago and Drive/Fly Me to Yous through November.

Where will I be in the Fall? I don’t have any cities set in stone, but you could be the reason that changes. If you’re someone yearning from afar, fill out this survey to help me plan tour dates. Under the current algorithm gods, I can’t really throw my effort into creating a new account. Trying to keep within the very amorphous lines defeats the very purpose of Twitter - it’s a site that’s supposed to let me post photos of my butt.

A new year never feels “new” to me, just different. An arbitrary marker in time that allows us to move forward and put things behind us. We all have plenty from 2025 we’d rather see in the rearview mirror (myself included).

Its time for my annual hiatus. From July 25th through September 22nd, I’ll vanish into the West like I do every year. I’ll have a brief interlude at home in Chicago, then I’m being whisked away to an island for a week. I’ll be back in Chicago and solidly available September 22nd.

I’ll have time for a few dalliances between September 8th and 11th before I jet off, so I encourage you not to wait to claim some time. Early bird gets the worm, so to speak.

This lifestyle allows me the ability to get lost in art and chosen family for two months, which sustains me through the other ten. The generosity and support of lovers like you is appreciated before I leave - my calendar tends to fill up quickly when I announce my time off. If you'd like to make my time in the Black Rock Desert even more enjoyable, I've added some camping gear to my wishlist that I'd massively appreciate. Most things are for my beloved 1972 trailer that I call home. This year, my dog also gets to call it home for the first time and I couldn’t be more excited.

This year, I chose a different contract position at Burning Man, letting me shorten my two-month stay to 5 weeks. I show up about a month before any ticket holder even appears, just a boundless desert that needs to be transformed into a full-blown city in 21 days. My friends and I take the beauty with the inevitable chaos, and I could wax poetic about how much I love that place. My birthday approaches, which would be a lovely distraction if I didn’t have so many irons in the fire at them moment. I would love to be treated to some things off my wishlist to offer a welcome distraction (and a reason to take smexy photos for gifters). The inevitable has come to pass. I’ve fought with myself extensively over keeping my rates relatively accessible. Now entering my 8th year in this industry, I am not able to keep my rates at their current structure. As someone who doesn’t enjoy engaging in capitalism but knows one has to in order to survive in our world, accessibility and conscious commerce can still play a role.

Been thinking of me all year? I’d love a little treat. I absolutely love presents and am honestly in desperate need of a new MacBook. I’ve been forcing this 2013 model to do what I need it to, but there are far less days I spend in Lightroom which is something I miss. I’m a photographer as well as a world-class babe - it’s my most consuming artistic passion. Capturing beautiful images from my view tickles just the right spot in my brain. I’ve been lacking in free time, but I still don’t spend as much time on the technical side of my art simply because my computer is not up to the task anymore. Why move? Twitter’s TOS changed radically, allowing for free use of any and all content for training AI, as well as a host of authoritarian rules about the rights to your own account. (I recommend looking into it if you're not familiar with the current controversy). I've wiped my timeline before a few months ago, so you'll have to stay tuned on Bluesky for all those hot pics I can repost.

Bluesky is growing and adapting very quickly, with what appears to be an invested team. Features are improving daily and adult content is completely permitted and as of now, not deprioritozed. It's the best option we have in my opinion. Check it out, make sure you enable adult content filters. For iPhone users, you'll need to do this through a browser. Android-ers, you can do it straight through the app.

My hiatus was energizing and blissful, and returning to find most folks feeling pretty gloomy has been a difficult transition. Don’t worry though - I brought the warm fuzzies back with me. Between recuperating from 4 flights in 24 hours and doing some home projects, I’ve been feeling very adored. Please, keep it coming. :)

We’ve all been through a lot this year, and I know most of you are feeling affected emotionally, financially, and/or socially. I am most certainly not exempt from this, and now more than ever my lovers bring me the comfort of companionship. Transitioning from two months of being nearly free from most adult responsibilities into running an existing enterprise (and building a couple new ones, to be honest) makes for a bumpy road. Reintroducing myself to the everyday stressors is always made easier by the time I spend with those special someones. Warm caresses, thoughtful offerings, and delicious food alleviate the adjustment pains, and I’m grateful to be so lucky.

Truly, I just want to brighten up your day. Whether it’s through kind words, a gentle touch, or something more [redacted], your sunshine is only an email away. Bringing a smile to your face isn’t something you should put on the back burner. Afternoon escapes, lingering evenings, and taking in the briskly beautiful fall weather are currently tickling my fancy. But what I want to know… what’s going to tickle yours?

Chicago, you have me for now. I hope to spend the majority of my time here until at least January, with unavoidable albeit brief detours here and there. I’ve already begun to eye Latin shores for part of November, so let’s plan something before I exchange my phone for a sunhat. I have the rare opportunity to visit very good friends I typically only see once a year - and quite frankly, that just isn’t enough. We all have those people in our lives who make our hearts toasty, no matter how long we’ve been apart. (Speaking of heartwarming, if you’d relish sending me an American Airlines gift card, mine may catch fire.)

Soon I hook up my 1962 DeCamp to a borrowed 3/4-ton diesel truck and haul it from a dirt road in Winnemuca, Nevada to a even harsher terrain - the Black Rock Desert - and make my temporary home with hundreds of my weirdest, fabulous, fascinating friends. We're there to build and deconstruct Black Rock City, the location of Burning Man. I've been helping to build this city in some official capacity since 2012, so you could call it a lifestyle, but I’ve always been a bit of a masochist. Spending the last seven years in the demimonde has allowed me the freedom to scamper off to one of my favorite places on earth with zero consequences. Before 2017, I was locked into a more corporate existence that never quite fit, unlike the impeccably-tailored-suit feeling of this life. Since then, I've had progressively longer and longer stints of time in the Black Rock Desert. If you'd like to make my time there even more enjoyable, I've added some necessary new gear to my wishlist that I'd massively appreciate. Some things are for my beloved beat up desert trailer.

As a brief side story, until last year I spent my 5-6 week tenure bouncing between others’ hard-sided housing for the days before precious electricity arrives and then my huge canvas bell tent, setting it up to be both cozy and palatial. I even managed to build in an AC unit. (Most people do not have any form of electricity, but when you work an insane amount you do get some solid perks like an electrical grid.) After a couple years of this setup and my shorter stays of 2-3 weeks in a Springbar for many years before that, I was burning out in a non-renewable way.

Moving spaces is incredibly difficult when you're carrying around everything you need for the 6 weeks you're there. I lived out of stacks of industrial totes, moving from place to place until I set up my own temporary home. Two and a half weeks later I had tear it all down and to go back to the tote life when the electrical grid got ripped out. The lack of permanence is a beautiful thing, but when working 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, it can become unsustainable. My trailer came into my life at just the right time, passed on to me from a Reno friend with many miles and an unbeatable price.

This year I finally have the time to make more significant changes to the interior to make it just right for me. Contributions towards that are felt very warmly and rewarded warmly as well. (Shamelessly dropping my wishlist again.)

For the foreseeable future, this time of the year will continue to be reserved for one of my greatest loves in life. This year my disappearance is slightly more extended due to a trip to Ibiza, which happens to be on Travel Daddy’s bucket list (and not not on mine) immediately upon my return. If you have something in mind for October, I highly recommend getting in touch soon. If you have your eyes on July, get in touch even sooner as my remaining time is getting snatched up.

My love for city life will never die, and you’d be hard-pressed

to find me living full time in any other environment. This last road trip really did me in, though. The West is so beautiful and it feels impossible to explore every last morsel I want to savor.

The majority of my time was spent dwelling in the Black Rock Desert with some of my closest friends, working seasonally for Burning Man. I arrived just after the fence around the city was finished. I thrive in the bleak, neverending desert seemingly void of life. (It’s most certainly not.)

The rain was old news by the time it hit. We had already been through two rains, one deluge just as bad as the one that was smattered across international news. (We were completely fine and everyone clamoring to leave really missed out on a good burn.) I was enjoying a nap, waking to the lulling fat droplets hitting the roof of my trailer. By the time I woke up the entire playa (desert surface) was a very shallow lake, the sleek surface only interrupted by footsteps dredging up and sculpting mud into canyons and crevices. The mud of the Black Rock Desert is impassable - very few vehicles on earth could traverse playa mud. Rain boots, socks, or bare feet are the only way to walk around, otherwise the mud clings to your shoes and you have platforms before you know it. If you've ever gotten caught in the rain in an alkali dry lake bed, you know what I mean. Squishing and squelching carefully is the only way to get around. That shit is slippery. The phrase “spit on teflon” comes to mind. It also turns every journey to your friends’ or the porto into leg day.

Even with this insane weather event, this was one of the best burns I’ve had in over a decade of Burning Man. Many of my friends felt the same. I’d do it all over again even knowing the weather situation. 

Adjusting to the Real World™ is always difficult, but this year it’s proving more difficult than usual. I had such a great time wandering the West, from the bleak desert to hot spring mountain towns. It wasn’t enough time by far, so you can expect me back as soon as spring starts bringing the sun back. As for the time being, you can find me home in Chicago or bring me to you. My wanderlust still isn’t satisfied

Transatlantic business class is another world and now I'm forever spoiled. I touched back down in the US nine days before my birthday and after fifteen days backpacking through Europe.

Solo travel has never been intimidating - my first international trip alone was at 17. There’s a specific joy in traveling solo - you have no one to answer to and nowhere to be except where you want. Wandering aimlessly down cobblestone sidestreets can lead to the most delicious dinner or a surprisingly affordable antique jewelry shop. Company is nice, but sometimes being solitary can bring the best out of every city.

My birthday was 4/20 (hehe), a more than appropriate date for my entrance into this world. I celebrated in quiet luxury with my best friends, eating mouthwatering steak and drinking champagne in the tub. (Presents are still happily accepted!)

Now that my jet lag is gone and I’m recovered from celebrations, get in touch. I’m heading west on May 12th, so you might want to plan ahead! Tour dates are posted on twitter and tr*st, so expect a more thorough newsletter re: touring in the next day or so!
