I make invisible obstacles to me starting any task. This is the nature of this life we experience with obstacles that reach to the sky blocking goodness and not the evil that inhabits so much of our communication. Yet as long as we are alive there is a hope that we become a beautiful reflection of God’s original intent. As an artist my most effective action is the development of ideas that give way to vision that imagines new possibilities. We may hear from the outside that something cannot happen but the heart knows it was made to love and exist in a world full of love expressed.

None more so than writing. Whether poetry, prose or thought, a singular focus is required that becomes more fleeting as the earth advances in age. Frenzied activity stirs up that same earth. Our time has not increased along with the innovations that seek to shrink its abundance. Don’t believe this will end with a solution maybe an encouragement will suffice, do it anyway. You may have awakened at 3am with sullen eyes and a nod towards the trials but try anyway. The world seeks to fill our days that separate us from ourselves and the things God placed in us to make us unique. But try anyway for the next distraction will prove you are not a prospector in search of Gold but one searching for the strength to push aside another handful of dust.

This is chapter is a profile of the individuals who come after the the Undesirables. The group that shows many how those who are pure at heart shall see God.

The rumble she felt happened as she prayed on her knees in her room. Often she awoke long before the sun had risen spurned on by Malachi 4:6 “The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. The Great Physician was more apt to heal as we witnessed the rising of the most perfect circle. She glanced over at the clock and saw it was 3 am. She had been looking to remove a certain disdain and terror slowly welling up in her spirit, where her intuition lives. She’d been reared in the mostly black church denomination that could only see the goodness of God as any benefit to life.

The dress up on the weekends reacted to the blue collar dress down during the week. She looked as her sisters were all primped and puffed to go to a building that would become their sanctuary for the next few hours. Even longer on Sunday. Ever since she was a child there was plenty of praise for her pious nature and her willingness to be an usher with her white gloves and show people to the wood and velvet lined pews at the same church she had found Jesus. Yet and still there was a new rumbling in her spirit that didn’t sound like “Oh Happy day” or even “Great is thy Faithfulness”. She had been taught so much yet there was a nagging darkness growing into a crescendo at that moment in her room in an unforeseen void.

Simple yes, I’ve had many ideas about what should and would bring us all closer together, yet I’ve found simplicity is the way. So many of us want to fight the evil destructive forces in the world and beat them at their own game. But the tender hearted don’t play the competitive game. Our move is one of compassion kindness and love. Thereby we opt out of the struggle for power and seek to inspire one another into good deeds towards each other. Thus enters the Kindness Project. A simple but bold idea to exchange works of art for acts of kindness, will this be a success? Will it fail? Well I only care about being obedient to the dreams God has placed in my heart. We’ll let Him worry about the rest. Sign up here

Where do I start?

Some would say from the beginning but how about from where I am. No longer a pastor, not even attending church when I tried and failed. But ever committed to the heart that God gave me and the dreams implanted in me since I was a child.

Here I will be creating non-stop as my imagination goes wild. But in the true spirit of Forgive. Us and my work in Justice. These are ideas that have to be worked out OUT THERE. You see after being a part of so many amazing houses of worship I began to feel the real tension between people desiring to stay in and my heart to go out. Frankly the vision God had given me for the world was too big for institutional posterity.

Where do I go?

Now there is so much in the works, including an event in January on the 17th at 606 records and books and plays and music that I need to get out into the world. Sometimes the fear of disobeying your heart is greater than the fear of failure. I’ve always wanted to build a safe space for the tenderhearted, compassionate ones who have not found a place in this vociferous world. I hope you find that here. As an Urban Mystic, I love my city and the tender hearts that keep optimistic vigil of it’s future.

Now, and I will be posting at minimum weekly writings and drawings and many of the other things I am attempting to work out in the public square.
