The towers came down in two hours. The dying has not stopped for twenty-five years.

New figures compiled by the World Trade Center Health Program and reported in a New York Post show certified 9/11 cancers jumping from 3,204 in 2015 to 57,044 this year. That is a 1,680 percent surge in a decade, and it is not slowing as the nation marks the grim anniversary of the attacks.

Here is the part that should knock the wind out of anyone still treating Ground Zero as a closed chapter. For the first time, civilian survivors now outnumber first responders on the cancer rolls. Downtown residents, office workers, and people who lived, worked, or went to school near The Pile account for 28,913 certified cases, up 4,066 percent from 694 in 2015. Firefighters, police, and other responders sit at 28,131.

Leslie Lane was 51 when the planes hit. She worked for Merrill Lynch in the World Financial Center, across from the towers. She evacuated through the dust cloud, then came back downtown that November.

You could taste the dust. You could taste the fuel, greasy gas. For months afterward, you could taste the fuel in the air in the back of your throat and mouth. They kept telling us the air was safe. I don’t think it was.

In 2020, a routine checkup found thymus cancer, a tumor so uncommon it accounts for fewer than 1 percent of cancers in the general population. Lane does not drink. She does not smoke. Surgeons at Memorial Sloan Kettering took the tumor. It has not come back. She is 76 now, and she has no doubt what she inhaled.

The World Trade Center Health Program now lists 82 thymus cancers among the 9/11 cohort. There are 591 neuroendocrine tumors, which jumped 6 percent between March and June among survivors alone. There are 188 cases of male breast cancer. Brain cancers sit at 163, up 14 cases, or 9 percent, in a single quarter.

James Ryan, a 65-year-old electrician who helped light The Pile and rewire the PATH station under the wreckage, found blood in his urine at a regular exam. An MRI caught pancreatic cancer early. Part of the pancreas came out in 2019. “I got very lucky,” he said.

Luck, in this story, means the scan came in time. Attorney Michael Barasch, whose firm represents thousands of program members, put the tempo in brutal terms.

Sadly, we lose roughly two clients a day and see a new cancer certification every 50 minutes. 9/11 did not end on 9/11. The cancer clock is ticking 24/7.

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.

The Death Toll Has Already Tripled

At least 9,425 people are now dying from post-9/11 illnesses. That is more than triple the 2,977 lives stolen on September 11, 2001. CDC data through June show 145,275 current members in the health program. Sixty-seven percent of them are certified for at least one of 69 cancers linked to those toxins, far above the National Cancer Institute’s roughly 40 percent lifetime cancer figure for Americans overall.

Skin, prostate, breast, thyroid, lung, bladder, lymphoma, and leukemia still dominate the common list. The rare ones are the tell. You do not get a cluster of thymus tumors, male breast cancers, and neuroendocrine cases by coincidence and old age. You get them when a city block is pulverized into a chemical cloud of pulverized concrete, jet fuel, asbestos, heavy metals, and God knows what else, then officials send civilians back into it.

Then-EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman stood in front of cameras and told New York the air was safe. First responders have been repeating that betrayal for a generation. A 2025 Post report quoted retired officers who heard the same line while passing buckets that sometimes held a hand.

The students were in the zone too. Stuyvesant High School. Borough of Manhattan Community College. Pace. Elementary and middle schools. Many of those children are now adults in their thirties and forties, just old enough for the latency window to open. The program is still begging people who were young in 2001 to find out if they qualify.

Most of the Exposed Civilians Are Not Even in the Program

Only about 15 percent of civilians who breathed that air have enrolled. That is the quiet scandal sitting underneath the 57,044 figure. The certifications are exploding among the people who found the program. The people who never enrolled are getting the same cancers without the monitoring that caught Lane and Ryan in time.

Barasch is blunt about that part. Early detection is the difference between life and death. The James Zadroga Act built a system that actually works when people use it. Enrollees see lower cancer-specific mortality than comparable New York patients. Congress has had to keep shoring up the money because the caseload will not politely decline. Latency for some of these diseases runs twenty to sixty years. Mesothelioma’s worst wave has not even arrived.

So the anniversary speeches will come. The names will be read. The politicians will look solemn for a morning. And somewhere in the city a new cancer certification will land about every fifty minutes, on a secretary who went back to her desk in November 2001, or a kid who went back to class while the pile still burned.

The hijackers murdered 2,977 people in a single morning. The dust they left behind is still collecting the rest. Remember the dead of that day. Then remember the living who were told the air was fine.

One read, “Big welcome to the NY Liberty transgender fan community! So excited to be here with you all!!” Another: “Welcome Trans Liberty fans! You are loved and you belong!” The third: “Hey trans fans! Glad you’re here! Go Liberty!”

The same franchise had just rejected a paid message thanking Jennifer Sey and XX-XY Athletics for fighting to keep men’s bodies out of women’s sports.

Julie Potter, a lesbian hip-hop artist and women’s sports supporter, spent more than $2,000 on 25 tickets and another $100 for a custom scoreboard message. Her original submission was straightforward: “Thank you Jennifer Sey! XX-XY Athletics will Save the Day!!”

The Liberty accepted her money, then tried to rewrite it into something safer: “Thank you Jennifer Sey, thank you for all you do for XX-XY Athletics.” When she refused the edit, they refunded the $100 and claimed the original wording violated their standard of “positive, celebratory content.”

Positive and celebratory, apparently, only if it affirms the ideology. Anything that defends the integrity of female categories gets the boot.

This happened one day before the game, according to reporting from Fox News Digital. The Liberty has not explained why a simple thank-you to a company that insists sex is real somehow fails their positivity test while three separate cheerleading messages for the opposite worldview sail through without issue.

Outside the arena, the pattern continued. Supporters of Cunningham’s defense of women’s sports held their ninth rally of the season. Across the barriers, a larger pro-trans crowd waved flags, blew bubbles, and chanted. When a Fox News Digital reporter approached for questions, the group refused interviews, surrounded him, stuck a trans flag sticker on his back, and chanted “trans lives matter” over his attempts to speak.

A photographer filming the scene had the glasses taken right off his head. They were never returned. Police eventually escorted the reporter out “for his safety.”

An ambassador for the pro-trans side later claimed the group had agreed in advance not to talk to media. Solidarity, they call it. The rest of us call it something else.

Cunningham has been clear for weeks. She does not hate anyone. She simply refuses to pretend that biological males belong in female locker rooms or on female teams.

“I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men,” she said.

That basic statement of material reality has followed her from city to city, drawing both support and coordinated pushback.

The Liberty and much of the WNBA apparatus have chosen their side. They will platform the affirmation of gender ideology while scrubbing any public defense of the sex-based categories that made women’s sports possible in the first place. Title IX was not written so men could dominate girls’ competitions. It was written so actual females could compete on a level field.

Jennifer Sey’s XX-XY Athletics exists for one reason: to state the obvious without apology. Sex matters. Performance differences between males and females are not social constructs. Allowing males into female categories is unfair and, in contact sports, dangerous.

The Liberty’s decision to silence a paid message thanking that effort while flooding the scoreboard with the opposite message is not neutrality. It is a declaration.

Scripture saw this pattern long ago. “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

The scoreboard at Barclays Center did not merely welcome a group of fans. It celebrated a worldview that demands everyone else deny what their eyes can see. And it did so while silencing the women who still insist that girls deserve their own sports, their own locker rooms, and their own categories. That is not inclusion. That is the soft enforcement of a lie.

Seventy-two thousand illegal aliens did not “migrate” into Ceuta last month. They stormed it.

On July 30 the Spanish enclave on Morocco’s northern coast—home to roughly 84,000 people—was overwhelmed in hours. Now the same voices on social media are calling for round two. Saturday. Spain’s national holiday. The message is clear: the border can be broken again if enough people simply show up.

Spain and Morocco are not taking the chance. Soldiers patrol Ceuta’s commercial districts and government buildings. Extra police line the main avenues. On the Moroccan side, black-clad security forces walk the beaches of Fnideq, the main launch point for the July rush.

Morocco’s Interior Ministry says it has arrested several people for circulating the online calls and is treating the incitement as a criminal act. Spain has already strung floating barriers in the water where thousands swam across last time.

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska put it bluntly during a visit to the enclave: none of the remaining illegal aliens will stay in Ceuta, none will be allowed to reach the Iberian Peninsula, and none will receive legal status except in the rarest cases of extreme vulnerability. Asylum claims are being screened. The vast majority are being rejected.

That is the official line. The deeper problem remains. A Spanish Supreme Court ruling earlier this summer held that migrants who arrive by sea cannot be immediately returned without process. Traffickers and online agitators seized on the decision.

Moroccan border controls visibly loosened in the days leading up to the July 30 surge. Spanish intelligence sources later concluded Morocco did not plan the invasion but allowed it to happen. Whether as leverage, distraction, or simple negligence, the result was the same: a Spanish city was flooded.

This is what weak signals produce. When courts and governments treat national borders as optional, the message travels faster than any official statement. Young men in Morocco saw videos of the first rush, heard the rumors of open gates, and answered. Now the same channels are buzzing again.

Europe has seen this movie before. Ceuta and Melilla are the European Union’s only land borders with Africa. Every time those barriers crack, the political earthquake reaches far beyond the enclave.

Italy briefly suspended Schengen. France reinforced its own border with Spain. Far-right parties across the continent gained new ammunition. The left’s preferred language—migrants, asylum seekers, humanitarian crisis—collapses under the weight of 72,000 people crashing a city of 84,000 in a single day.

Scripture does not treat national boundaries as man-made inconveniences. “And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.” Acts 17:26.

God set the bounds. Governments that refuse to defend them invite disorder, death, and the slow erosion of the very societies that claim to care about human dignity.

Spain is now doing what it should have done before the first rush: putting soldiers on the street, barriers in the water, and clear public statements that illegal entry will not be rewarded. Morocco is, for the moment, cooperating. Whether that holds when the next online campaign gathers force is an open question.

The people of Ceuta already know what happens when the line fails. The rest of Europe—and anyone still pretending borders are outdated—would do well to pay attention.

Google’s Fitbit AI health coach offers real-time guidance on sleep, exercise, and diet. BetterUp sells AI coaching to companies that want workers to communicate better and perform harder. Dozens of other systems are learning our schedules, finances, relationships, and weaknesses. They help us stick to goals we already claim to want. That part is not the problem.

The problem arrives the moment the machine stops helping us pursue our goals and starts deciding what those goals should be.

An employer’s AI will define “better” as more productive hours and fewer sick days. An insurance company’s AI will define it as lower medical claims and lower risk. A tech platform will define it as more time spent inside its ecosystem. A government will define it as behavior that is predictable, manageable, and quiet.

Each one can claim it is only helping. Each one is rewriting the meaning of a good life according to its own interests.

Who does the AI really work for? That is the question almost no one in Silicon Valley or Washington wants answered out loud. The man talking to the coach thinks it is his personal adviser. The system may be optimized for the corporation that pays for it or the regulator that certifies it.

Advice that begins as optional quickly becomes expensive to ignore. Lower premiums for the compliant. Higher rates or denied coverage for the stubborn. No formal order is ever given. The approved path simply becomes the only practical one.

The same logic is already climbing the ladder into public policy. AI systems now forecast economic shocks, political unrest, disease outbreaks, and the likely effects of legislation with accuracy that rivals elite human teams. Governments will use those forecasts. So will investors and military planners. Better predictions can produce better decisions. But a prediction is not a moral judgment.

An algorithm can tell a politician that mass surveillance would reduce crime or that silencing certain speech would calm the streets. It cannot tell him whether those outcomes are worth the cost in liberty. That calculation belongs to human beings who answer to voters and, ultimately, to God.

Political leaders are already treating the machines as oracles. Sweden’s prime minister admitted he regularly consults AI tools for a second opinion on governing questions. The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to place agentic AI systems in charge of half of its federal government operations within two years.

Once a president or governor is told that the model has identified the policy most likely to prevent recession or save lives, the political cost of rejecting the recommendation rises. Critics will ask why the official ignored the superior intelligence. The machine never has to issue a command. Its authority grows through the fear of being wrong without it.

Doctors will face the same pressure when they deviate from AI treatment protocols. Drivers will pay more for insurance if they refuse automated systems. Borrowers will struggle for credit after ignoring an AI risk score.

The formal decision remains human. The practical range of acceptable choices shrinks until the human becomes a rubber stamp.

This is not science fiction. A Heartland Institute/Rasmussen poll already found that 41 percent of likely voters aged 18 to 39 support giving an advanced AI system authority over the majority of public policy decisions. Thirty-six percent would let AI determine the rights of individuals and families, including speech, religion, and property. Thirty-five percent would hand it control of the world’s largest militaries. Among the youngest adults the numbers climb higher still.

Disillusionment with human institutions is real. Surrendering to silicon is not the cure. It is the final abdication.

As American Thinker has warned, technology without independent human judgment perfects systems of control rather than systems of liberty. AI does not grasp meaning, conscience, or the moral weight of a choice. It calculates. When a society begins outsourcing judgment itself, it slowly forgets how to exercise it.

Scripture is not silent on this. Joshua stood before Israel and declared, “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve.”

The call to choose is not a suggestion. It is the mark of creatures made in the image of a free God. We were given dominion, not designed to be managed by code. Handing the power of final decision to systems built by corporations and states is not efficiency. It is rebellion against the order of creation.

AI can show us the road ahead more clearly. That is a genuine gift. Human beings must remain free to choose which road to take, even when the machine insists another path would be more efficient, more healthy, or more profitable for someone else.

Transparency about who designed the system and whose interests it serves is non-negotiable. The right to reject the advice without punishment must be protected. Officials must never be allowed to hide behind the claim that “the computer recommended it.”

The quiet surrender of human agency does not arrive with jackboots. It arrives with helpful suggestions, lower premiums, and the promise of an easier life. Refuse the deal. The machine is not your friend. It is learning to rule you.

Hollywood spent forty years training Americans to fear the wrong thing. The Terminator, the Matrix, HAL 9000, all of it built a cultural reflex that says the danger arrives when the machine becomes conscious. So the public scans the horizon for a robot uprising while the actual threat unfolds quietly, one convenient prompt at a time. The machines do not need to wake up. They only need us to fall asleep, and we are volunteering.

The evidence is no longer anecdotal. Researchers at the MIT Media Lab published a study with the unsubtle title Your Brain on ChatGPT, in which they wired participants with EEG sensors and had them write essays over multiple sessions. One group used a chatbot, one used a search engine, and one used nothing but their own minds.

The chatbot group showed the weakest neural connectivity of the three. They reported the lowest sense of ownership over their own writing. Most damning of all, many of them could not accurately quote from essays they had supposedly written minutes earlier. The researchers coined a term for what they observed, calling it “cognitive debt,” and found that the deficits lingered even after the AI was taken away.

Think about what that means. This was not a study of lazy people. It was a study of normal people handed a tool that made effort optional, and effort, it turns out, is not optional for the human mind. The brain is not a filing cabinet; it is a muscle. Every generation before ours understood that memory, reasoning, and judgment are built through struggle. We are now running a civilization-wide experiment in removing the struggle and hoping the judgment somehow remains.

It will not. A man who lets a machine write his emails soon lets it write his opinions. A student who lets it write her essays never learns what she actually believes, because belief is forged in the act of articulating it. Discernment is not downloaded. It is developed, and what is not developed atrophies.

A Spiritual Problem Wearing a Technological Mask

This is where the conversation has to go deeper than productivity metrics, because the mind is not spiritually neutral territory. Scripture treats the renewal of the mind as central to the Christian life, not incidental to it.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:2)

Notice the mechanism. Transformation comes through renewing the mind, and the renewed mind is what enables a believer to test and discern the will of God. A Christian who outsources his thinking has not merely become less productive. He has surrendered the very faculty through which discernment operates. The enemy does not need to make you believe lies if he can simply make you stop testing anything at all.

And who trains the machine doing your thinking for you? Systems built overwhelmingly in Silicon Valley, trained on the secular internet, tuned by people whose worldview most readers of this article would recognize as hostile to their own. When you stop wrestling with ideas yourself, you do not become neutral. You become whatever your tools are.

The Counterargument, and Why It Fails

The standard reply is that every technology provoked this panic. Socrates worried writing would destroy memory. Calculators were going to end arithmetic. Fair enough, and worth taking seriously.

But there is a categorical difference between a tool that stores your conclusions and a tool that generates them. Writing preserved thought. The calculator executed a procedure you still had to understand well enough to set up. Generative AI is the first mass technology that performs the thinking itself, start to finish, and hands you a finished product you can sign without ever engaging your mind.

None of this requires abandoning the technology. It requires using it the way a wise man uses any powerful thing, deliberately, with boundaries, and never for the tasks that form the soul. Write your own prayers. Wrestle with Scripture yourself. Draft the hard letter before you ask a machine to polish it. The danger was never that the machines would learn to think. It is that we would forget how, and forget that we ever knew.

Anthony Fauci sat before a Senate subcommittee on Wednesday and invoked the Fifth Amendment 111 times. For a man who spent two years as the most quoted, most protected, most deferentially interviewed figure in American public life, the silence was deafening.

But the more revealing story may have come a day later, from a former CBS News reporter who says she learned firsthand what happened to journalists who treated Fauci like a public servant instead of a saint.

Brittney Hopper, who spent more than a decade reporting for CBS News Los Angeles before going independent, told Australia’s News24 that she was reprimanded and briefly taken off the air after she began questioning Fauci’s pandemic edicts.

According to her account, the trouble started after years of covering COVID on the ground, interviewing Fauci, wearing the masks, and watching schools stay shuttered while the official narrative never budged.

“I got in trouble and pulled off-air for a couple of days because I started questioning him,” Hopper said, adding that she apologized and returned to covering what she was assigned.

She described her old role bluntly, saying she had been a puppet of the mainstream media for years and expressing hope that Americans are waking up to the collapse of journalistic integrity that the pandemic exposed.

CBS News did not dispute her account when contacted by Fox News Digital. The network’s only clarification was that Hopper left before Bari Weiss took over as editor-in-chief in 2025, which is less a rebuttal than a reminder that the old regime is the one being described.

The Priesthood Protected Its High Priest

Hopper’s story would matter even in isolation. It matters far more in context. The mainstream press did not merely fail to scrutinize Fauci during the pandemic. If accounts like hers are accurate, newsrooms actively disciplined reporters who tried. That is not journalism malfunctioning. That is journalism functioning as an enforcement arm.

Consider what the questions were. Six feet of distancing that Fauci himself could never ground in evidence. Masking outdoors with no one around. School closures that stretched years past any defensible rationale, with learning loss and mental health damage we are still tallying. These were not fringe conspiracies. They were obvious, reasonable questions that any working reporter should have been rewarded for asking. Instead, by Hopper’s telling, asking them was a punishable offense.

“You weren’t supposed to question the agenda and the narrative at that point,” she said. She allowed that the first year of the pandemic left everyone confused, but argued that once evidence began accumulating, news agencies chose fear over inquiry and jumped on the bandwagon rather than test it.

111 Reasons to Believe Her

Wednesday’s hearing supplied the punchline. Fauci, armed with a sweeping preemptive pardon from Joe Biden covering his government work, still refused to answer a single substantive question from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee, pleading the Fifth over 100 times across roughly three hours. Chairman Rand Paul denied the privilege assertion, ordered him to answer, had Fauci’s disruptive attorney removed from the room, and is now moving toward a contempt referral.

The hearing came days after Paul released hundreds of pages from Fauci’s personal diary. According to Fox News, those entries include 2020 passages in which Fauci described recommending lockdowns to city, state, and federal officials, including President Trump, despite his repeated public insistence in 2022 that he never endorsed lockdowns at all. If the man had nothing to hide, he chose a strange way to show it. In 2022 he promised full cooperation with any congressional inquiry. In 2026, with immunity in hand, he could not manage a single answer.

So place the two stories side by side. A reporter says she was yanked off the air for questioning Fauci. Fauci, given every legal protection imaginable, refuses to answer the same questions under oath. The press did not just misjudge the science. It silenced the people positioned to correct the record, then spent years congratulating itself for following it.

Scripture saw this pattern long before cable news did. “And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey.”

When institutions punish honesty, the honest become prey, and Isaiah 59 reads like a newsroom memo from 2021.

Hopper hopes the spectacle serves as a wake-up call for news organizations around the world. That is optimistic. The organizations that benched their skeptics have never apologized, never accounted, and never named the editors who enforced the narrative. Until they do, every “trust us” from a legacy newsroom deserves exactly the credibility Fauci earned on Wednesday.

The good news is that the monopoly is broken. Reporters like Hopper no longer need a network’s permission to ask a question, and audiences no longer need a network’s permission to hear the answer.

The man who tried to put Benjamin Netanyahu in handcuffs for defending his people just lost his own job over allegations of non-consensual sex with a junior staffer. Karim Khan, the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, was removed Friday by a vote of the court’s member states. Eighty-two of 125 nations decided he had to go. It is the first time in the ICC’s history that a sitting chief prosecutor has been tossed out.

Khan denies everything. His lawyers call the process a sham. But the woman who accused him went public last week on CNN. She described escalating advances, power imbalance so severe that consent was impossible, and incidents in his office, his home, and on work trips. The court’s own oversight body concluded he committed serious misconduct and a serious breach of duty.

This is the same Karim Khan who, in November 2024, requested arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC judges granted them. Israel and the United States, neither of which belongs to this court, called it political theater from the start. Now the man behind those warrants has been fired for alleged sexual predation inside his own office.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon did not hold back. “Karim Khan believed that by launching a political witch hunt against Israel and issuing a politically-motivated arrest warrant against Prime Minister Netanyahu, the world would ignore the grave sexual misconduct allegations against him. He was wrong.” Danon added that the same cynical game will not protect New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani either.

Mamdani made the ICC warrant a campaign centerpiece. He promised to arrest Netanyahu if the Israeli leader set foot in New York. Once in office he admitted the city has no such power and pivoted to demanding the federal government do it instead. The warrants remain on the books. The ICC insists Khan’s removal does not erase them. But the stench around the man who requested them is now impossible to ignore.

Anne Bayefsky of Human Rights Voices put the timing in sharp relief. Khan requested the warrants against Israel within weeks of learning his alleged misconduct had been exposed. He later suggested the victim was somehow tied to Mossad. That is the level of seriousness we are dealing with from the world’s self-appointed moral tribune.
