Before the bright lights of college recruiting, scholarship offers, and highlight reels, Juelz Chiron-Robinson was just another young athlete chasing a football with big dreams. Fast forward to today, and he’s become one of Pennsylvania’s most exciting young running backs, a player whose combination of speed, toughness, and relentless work ethic has turned heads across the region.

What makes Chiron-Robinson’s story stand out isn’t just the nearly 1,900 rushing yards or the touchdowns. It’s the way he’s earned the respect of coaches and teammates by taking care of the little things, protecting the football, embracing hard work, and staying humble while his recruiting profile continues to grow.

As a standout at Downingtown East High School, he’s proving that success isn’t just about natural talent. It’s about preparation, consistency, and the willingness to get a little better every single day. Those qualities have already attracted college programs, but perhaps more importantly, they’ve helped shape the kind of teammate and leader he’s becoming on and off the field.

Today, we get to know the person behind the helmet. We talk football, recruiting, family, life away from the field, and what drives one of the Commonwealth’s brightest young stars.

Q: When did you realize football might become something bigger than just a game?

A: I realized football might become something bigger than just a game when I was six years old, playing the game I love. I realized that playing football is not just something I was doing because I was bored. It was something that brought me joy and something to look forward to every single day. The older I got, I realized where the game can take me and how it can change my life.

Q: Who has had the biggest impact on your development?

A: I would say the two biggest impacts on my development are, for sure, my parents and my coaches. My parents are very important to my development and help me grow, whether it is buying me enough food to gain weight or making sure I have memberships to gyms so I can go get lifts in and become stronger. Everything I need to get to the next level, they try their hardest to get for me. Also, my coaches are a huge part of my development. They push me in the weight room every single day and also encourage me, which helps me become better as an athlete. They are brutally honest and have my best interest.

Q: Which NFL running back do you study the most?

A: The one running back I study the most is, hands down, Jahmyr Gibbs. I watch his tape at least two times a day, and every time I watch it, I learn something new. The way he can get in and out of his cuts without slowing down is amazing, also, how he can make anyone miss in open space, and has elite speed to score anytime he touches the ball. Those are all things I study and admire about his game, which I try to implement in mine.

Q: What matters most to you besides football when visiting a college?

A: The things that matter most to me besides football when visiting a college are the coaching staff, player development, the offensive scheme, team culture, and education. These are all things that are especially important to me when I go up to visit a college, and things I look for.

Q: How has your contact and relationship with Penn State grown so far?

A: My contact and relationship with Penn State have grown drastically. I have very strong connections with a bunch of coaches, especially Coach Savon Huggins. Our connection has grown a lot over the months, and I am so grateful to be able to have a great connection with an outstanding coach. I cannot wait to keep building with Coach Huggins and Penn State as a whole.

Q: What separates a great coaching staff from a good one?

A: To me, a great coaching staff is going to constantly develop their players, build relationships, and place themselves in positions to win. They explain why you are doing something, not just what to do. They are honest about your role and what you need to do to improve. They care about you as a person, not just a football player.

Q: How do you handle a bad game?

A: I watch the game film intensely. [I’ll watch] at least five times for each run I had, so if I had 25 carries, I’m watching 125 plays. Sometimes, if I get to the point after the game and I am watching the film, I will go outside in my backyard and recreate the play in my head and do what I should have done vs. what I actually did.

Q: What’s one weakness you’ve worked hardest to improve?

A: I would say finishing my runs and my weight. I was 165 [pounds] last season, and as of now, I am 180, so I have gained 15 pounds since last season, and I have been training and working on my strength. I am extremely excited to show everyone what I have been working on.

Q: What motivates you when nobody is watching?

A: The thing that motivates me when no one is watching is my family and my goals. Sometimes when I lift, I think of all the struggles and hardships my family may go through, and it pushes me extremely. Also, my goals, the goals I have for myself are very big, and I have to work every single day in order to achieve them. I can not afford to skip, lose, or waste reps.

Q: Favorite music before kickoff?

A: My favorite music before kickoff is definitely rap, but I may go to a calm R&B.

Q: Favorite hobby outside football?

A: Listening to music or spending time with family. I also like to draw.

Q: Favorite athlete growing up?

A: My favorite athlete growing up was Odell Beckham Jr. He was my idol. I dyed my hair just like his because I wanted to be just like him.

Q: What would be your go-to flavor of ice cream if Happy Valley is your college home?

A: My go-to is the Peachy Paterno!

In this exclusive interview, Wood discusses the lessons that shaped him, the family ties that make Penn State feel like home, what winning really means, and why chocolate chip may soon become the most popular flavor at the Penn State Creamery.

Q: You’ve won multiple state championships already. What’s one thing you learned that helped you stay consistently successful?

A: I’d say something I’ve learned is to never get complacent. The moment you get comfortable is the moment success starts slowing down.

Q: Is there a moment that changed the way you play quarterback today?

A: I wouldn’t say there was an exact moment, but my freshman season, I got to sit behind Henry Hasselbeck and get coached by Matt Hasselbeck. I learned so much that year about how to operate, how to lead, and how to handle yourself as a pro. That year was huge for my development and growth.

Q: When you’re watching film by yourself, what is the first thing you look for in your own game?

In my own game, I look for me playing on time. Yes, all the running around and scrambling is cool, but as a QB, it is most important that I am sound with my eyes and feet in the pocket, and if the play breaks down, then I am able to make something happen.

Q: If your teammates were sitting here right now, what would they say is your strongest leadership trait?

I think they’d say it is my relentlessness. My ability to never get comfortable and to hold myself and others accountable is something I’d say is a strength of mine.

Q: What’s a game or moment from your career that people never talk about, but you believe was a turning point for you personally?

I think it was my sophomore year when we played Boston College High, and statistically, I had a solid game, but as a team, we got our butts kicked. After that game, I realized something had to change as we were 3-3 and were not playing good football. That next week my mindset shifted and I became a true leader and we ended up being able to win a state championship that year.

Q: You have family not far from State College. You mentioned your grandfather, who is from the area, was really happy. How surreal has it been for your family, especially your grandfather, since you committed to soon be able to watch you on Saturdays in a Nittany Lion uniform?

A: It has been awesome for me and my family. My grandpa came on my last visit here to Penn State, and he said it was one of the best days of his life. He has not stopped talking about it since.

Q: You’ve been labeled a winner throughout your career. How do you separate winning because of talent, versus winning because of preparation and culture?

A: I think to win, you have to obviously be talented, but that only gets your foot in the door. Preparation and culture are why teams win championships. I’ve been in games that we’ve been much more talented, but we’ve lost because we weren’t doing the little things right, but also been in games where we weren’t supposed to win, but we did because we were ultra prepared and had extreme belief in ourselves.

Q: What’s something you’ve learned from a loss that you never could have learned from a win?

A: That even though we are extremely talented, we can never just walk into a game and be comfortable and think that we can just show up and the other team will just lie down. You have to actually go out and earn it.

Q: Five years from now, what do you hope Penn State fans say about Will Wood that has nothing to do with stats or championships?

A: I hope that Penn State fans say that Will Wood gave his freaking all to Penn State. That he left it all out on the field and that he performed in the biggest moments. Lastly, I hope they say that his teammates loved him because he always had their backs.

Q: And finally, the most important question that we need to know the answer to: What will be the ice cream flavor you eat the most at the Penn State Creamery?

A: Chocolate Chip

The powerful defensive tackle has quietly built a reputation as one of the toughest and most relentless trench players in the West, a prospect a bit under the radar whose combination of physicality, discipline, and upside caught the attention of some tough programs before ultimately choosing the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Now, with his commitment official, Paiva steps into the spotlight carrying both the expectations of a rising program and the confidence of a player determined to make his mark in the Big Ten.

Q: Hi Aniti, congratulations on your commitment to Penn State, and thanks for taking the time to speak with Basic Blues. Lets dive in!

It’s been said you are “immovable.” Rivals’ Greg Biggins notes, “there’s not much you can do to stop him.” What is your mindset when lining up against the guys in front of you?

A: Mindset living up to my opponents?

I’ve been doubted and still yet doubted, so I’m busting these dudes and stripping stars. Before camp, my mom says this, “ain’t nobody stronger than you son, beat their ass.” That just repeats in my head, and I don’t let nobody move me.”

Q: Coaches D’Anton Lynn and Ikaika Malloe are building a big “beast” defensive line. How does it feel to be joining such an elite group of commits as the foundation in this new era of Penn State football?

A: I’m honored. Honestly a dream come true to be looking forward for Malloe to develop myself and fit into the scheme Lynn got in his pockets.

Q: Some big historic programs came after you. In the end, why Penn State? What did Penn State do during the recruiting process that was different and stood out?

A: Penn State stood out because they were aggressively on task with keeping up on building our relationship and weren’t shy to show interest while I was busy training and competing. They made the time for me no matter what, to remind me who they want and their expectations. It felt genuine, not just looking for the hype. Penn State sees me and I see them. That type of energy is what builds a successful team. I believe that in my heart.

Q: You primarily played Nose Tackle [in high school]. Is that your passion? Do you see yourself staying at Nose or possibly moving around as needed, based on your conversations with the staff?

A: Hell no, I’m not looking to stay as a nose. It’s just every school I played, they see the strength of what I can do and immediately just adjust the scheme to play an odd-man front. So this upcoming season, I plan to FINALLY beast out in a 4-3 scheme. So excited for it, so I can showcase exactly what I can do for the next level. I trust Malloe and Lynn do their homework, so they’ll know how to use me there.

Q: How has your connection been with other Penn State commits so far, and is helping the staff add more talent to your class something you are engaged with?

A: So far, I haven’t met any of the other commits. Looking forward to that this weekend.

Q: What was your favorite part about visiting Penn State, and what really stood out?

A: My favorite part of visiting PSU was the position meeting. The way Malloe teaches techniques and gap schemes is just different. Had me picturing myself doing them, and he actually did some brief walk-throughs of techniques while I was there that I used during my 5-on-5 tournaments.

Q: Utah to Pennsylvania is a big environmental change. How have your family and friends been regarding your commitment to Penn State?

Utah to PA is definitely a big change, but not really. My family plans on relocating. We’ve moved quite a bit because of my dad’s line of work, so we love the cold and can adapt quickly.

Q: You have one more year of high school and ball to finish. How excited are you to really “show up,” and how has the pressure changed now that you’ve made a choice of where you’ll play next?

A: One more year of high school ball, but I feel like it’ll be my first. My very first year to actually be a player away from the politics of high school ball. First year to play in a 4-front. I’M EXCITED. I plan to ball out and get up to State College and work my butt off and earn my stripes. It’s been nice though, since I’ve committed, the pressure of locking in visits has died off -- was very overwhelming trying to make it all work, so I’m happy with one OV and train up for the season. End of the day, one school is all I needed, and I’m home #WEARE.

Q: What would you like Penn State fans and Nittany Nation to know about Aniti Paiva?

A: Fun fact?😆

I’m a simple dude. Not much to know, but I am going to earn a lot of respect there, I believe. I’m very square and too well-mannered, my family would describe me. I’m a leader in the trenches. Love my family, and God is centered in all that I do. I don’t fall easily to negatives; I take it and use it as motivation. I’d rather hang with my parents than [be] out with friends. A normal day for me is hot yoga with mom, grilling with dad, and 300 push-ups with my siblings after chores.

Q: And lastly, we hope you like great ice cream. The Penn State Creamery is a huge tradition. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor that can get you in trouble?

A: I’m a big chocolate guy. When I can have some, it’s over😂. All my protein bars and shakes will have to be fudge.

In 2026, when Rocco Becht steps under center in navy and white, he won’t just be replacing a name on a depth chart; he’ll be chasing history. The numbers suggest something special is possible: a season that could climb into the top five ever by a Penn State quarterback.

But this isn’t just about 3,500 yards or 30 touchdowns. It’s about redemption after injury, belief after transition, and the weight of a program hungry for its next great signal-caller.

Let’s dive into what could be a phenomenal season for QB Rocco Becht, and how.

Previous Production:

Over the past three seasons, Rocco Becht has been a steady, high-volume producer. At his peak in 2024, he threw for over 3,500 yards with 25 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, showing strong command and durability. Across the three-year stretch, he averaged just over 3,000 passing yards, about 21–23 passing touchdowns, and roughly 8–9 interceptions per season. He also added modest rushing value each year, contributing a handful of touchdowns on the ground.

Growth Through Adversity

Rocco Becht’s 2025 season wasn’t a collapse; it was a step back shaped by circumstance. After a breakout 2024, his numbers dipped to a modest 2,584 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, which was a noticeable drop in both production and efficiency. He battled through a partially torn labrum and later an AC sprain, injuries that affected his consistency and likely his mechanics.

At the same time, Iowa State was replacing its top two NFL-bound receivers, forcing Becht to develop chemistry with new targets while facing increased defensive pressure. The result was a season marked by uneven stretches, particularly after a mid-season hit that coincided with a downturn in performance. The tools were still there, but injuries, roster turnover, and offensive inconsistency combined to make 2025 a more difficult chapter than the one that came before it.

2026 Projection:

With a healthy Becht in an improved offensive cast at Penn State and a more favorable schedule, Becht projects to take a moderate step forward. A realistic expectation would be 3,400–3,600 total passing yards, 26–30 total touchdowns (passing + rushing), 6–8 interceptions, and a Total QBR in the 65–70 range. That would represent his most efficient and complete season, driven more by surrounding talent and situational advantage than a drastic change in playing style.

Becht’s 2024 season already established his baseline near 3,500 yards and 25 touchdowns in a Power Four conference, proving a ceiling exists. Historically, quarterbacks entering their upperclassman years with system continuity and improved skill talent tend to see efficiency gains, especially in touchdown rate and interception reduction. Given his consistent yardage floor (3,000 annually when healthy) and prior peak production, a modest bump in supporting cast, and schedule strength logically, Becht should push into the mid-3,000 yard range with an improved TD-to-INT ratio and a QBR solidly in the mid-to-upper 60s.

The Penn State History Books

If Rocco Becht reaches his projected 2026 totals of roughly 3,400–3,600 passing yards and 26–30 total touchdowns with solid efficiency, it would likely rank among the top five single seasons by a quarterback in Penn State history. Yardage-wise, it would be near the program’s best single-season marks (which sit in the upper-3,000 range), and his touchdown production would fall into the upper tier of PSU seasons as well. While one season wouldn’t place him near the all-time career leaders like Sean Clifford or Trace McSorley, it would stand as one of the strongest individual passing campaigns the program has seen.

If the projections become reality, Becht won’t just have a big year; he’ll have a season that echoes through the canyon of Beaver Stadium long after the final whistle fades.

I want to begin by acknowledging that this story will be divisive. As a society—and as sports fans—we are increasingly fractured, our beliefs often entrenched and immovable. Uncomfortable truths tend to provoke emotional responses, and whatever reactions this story generates are part of the responsibility that comes with telling it.

As I was finalizing this report and working to verify a few remaining details, I published an initial announcement on Sunday night, January 16. Shortly thereafter, a second individual connected to the Penn State program reached out, offering additional information and the possibility of corroboration. Given the gravity of the subject matter, I believed the delay was necessary to ensure accuracy. The information presented below has been corroborated by two separate individuals inside the Nittany Lions football program.

Before diving in, however, there is one narrative that must be addressed: the “it doesn’t matter” perspective. For 12 years, the fans and the surrounding community supported this team and its head coach in every conceivable way. The program was provided with every resource it requested—and more. The expectations were not unreasonable; they were the very standards that were stated: a progression from good to great. That transformation never materialized.

It mattered to the players who entrusted the program with their formative years and their careers. It mattered to the fans who showed up, purchased merchandise, and invested financially through NIL contributions. It mattered to local businesses whose livelihoods are tied to sustained interest and success. In 2025, Penn State football experienced its most expensive season when accounting for both players and staff.

Yet that didn’t matter. Why?

The year was 2022.

Penn State’s recruiting class was one of the most highly ranked in the program’s history, finishing No. 7 nationally according to On3’s consensus rankings and No. 6 in Sports Illustrated’s top 25. Headlined by five-star quarterback Drew Allar, the class featured a balanced mix of elite talent across offense and defense. Everything from that class was built to succeed in 2025. Penn State entered the preseason ranked No. 2 nationally with the second-most returning starters in the Power Four. Add in one of the most expensive coaching staffs in college football, and the sky seemed to be the limit.

Then, the tires blew before the plane could really get off the ground. By week six, the Nittany Lions were out of the playoffs, and head coach James Franklin was fired.

There have been rumors, speculation, and second-hand stories about the crumbling of Penn State in 2025. Basic Blues was fortunate enough to speak with two current members of the Nittany Lion program about what happened this past season, and gain real, factual, information for the first time.

These individuals asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons. This is their perspective on what happened in Happy Valley in 2025. I want to establish that these answers are based on the experiences and opinions of the two individuals with whom we spoke; their feelings and experiences may not reflect those of others within the program. This is their perspective on what happened in Happy Valley in 2025.

What was your experience with the PSU NIL process, and do you believe it was handled fairly?

From my experience, NIL was not handled fairly. NIL was spread inconsistently across the entire roster, top to bottom, which limited the ability to truly reward production and impact. Time spent in the program often mattered more than performance. That meant guys who had clearly earned opportunities, both on the field and financially, were left waiting while resources were diluted. It created frustration, distrust, and imbalance.

We heard a lot about “effort equaling playing time,” yet many young top recruits never saw the field, even after James Franklin promised publicly, repeatedly, to make changes. What was really going on?

Effort did not always equal playing time. There were plenty of young guys who worked, showed capability, and were ready to contribute. The issue was not effort. It was control. Decisions were less about readiness and more about fitting the head coach’s vision.

When playing time was questioned publicly or internally, it often worked against players instead of helping them. If it wasn’t Franklin taking the initiative on something, it didn’t happen.

How much did this factor into playing time, in your opinion?

Favoritism absolutely played a role. Longevity and loyalty to the program were often valued more than actual effort and production. Some players were given extended leeway, while others had a much shorter leash, regardless of how well they practiced or prepared.

How detrimental do you believe this dynamic was for those who felt they may be missing the playing opportunities they could have seen elsewhere?

It was very detrimental. You only get so many years to play college football. Sitting while being capable of contributing costs you reps, film, confidence, and opportunities at other programs, where you could have played and developed earlier. And he [Coach Franklin] doesn’t tell guys the truth about the investments or plans he makes with other players in the same group, causing a “gray” area and confusion.

How much of the offensive struggles would you attribute to Franklin or Andy Kotelnicki, and why?

A lot of it traces back to the top. Regardless of scheme, culture and accountability are set by the head coach. Franklin spoke to his staff in disgusting ways, often belittling and micromanaging them. Talked to some of his staff like little kids—worse than his players. He was often verbally abusive.

Some coaches on the staff began to grow weary of Franklin, from some coordinators all the way down to the medical trainers. When decision-making is driven by ego and control instead of production and readiness, it affects execution. Coaches can design plays, but if the culture is off, it shows on the field.

It has been rumored that some inside the program had “checked out” after the initial setbacks early in the season. Is there truth to that?

There is truth to that. Standards slipped. Things that were never acceptable before started being allowed. Certain players were given freedom without accountability, and that spreads quickly.

Once complacency sets in, it bleeds into every area of the program. Micromanagement in the wrong places, while being checked out in others, didn’t work. That is what led to things unraveling early.

What have been your favorite things about your time so far at Penn State?

The facilities, the fan base, and the brand are special. The brotherhood amongst the players is real, especially among those who have worked and pushed each other daily.

How did the team react when coach Terry Smith took over? Was there an internal culture change?

The best time to be a Penn State player was when Coach Terry took over and implemented his new way of doing things. He cut out unnecessary periods in practice, cut the time of practice significantly, and seemed to care much more about the players’ opinions.

It was very obvious Terry didn’t agree with or wasn’t on the same page as Franklin as far as the way he did and ran things. And you could tell from the immediate change when Terry took over. Guys loved and yearned for it to be the new way of doing things—part of why the support behind Terry was so strong.

How has it been so far with new coach Matt Campbell—the culture, communication, and team feeling?

It has been refreshing for me personally, and from what I’m hearing [around the program]. Communication is clear. Expectations are straightforward. The culture values honesty, accountability, and opportunity. You know where you stand and what is expected to earn your role as a player.

Were you aware of any instances of James Franklin, once hired at Virginia Tech, reaching out to players and staff to try to get them to leave?

Everyone knew.

A couple of days to a week after getting fired, Coach Franklin held a discreet meeting at his home with some current players on the team—young leaders. It was about 8-15 guys that attended this meeting at his home. He told them he “needs them to follow him.” He held another same-style meeting at his home again, but with some of the PSU staff. Told them the same thing. And some left with him to VT.

That Thanksgiving photo Franklin took at VT with all the ex-PSU staff members? That was most of his immediate staff he had met with during the season, and had those conversations with at his home.

Adversely, some of those coaches and staff were acting on Franklin’s behalf after he had accepted the VT head coaching job, doing their best to get players to follow.

What do you want people to know about 2025 Penn State from the inside that is getting missed?

From the inside, talent was never the issue. There were players ready to contribute who never even got the chance. The disconnect was between opportunity and performance. When control outweighs development, players suffer. That part of the story often gets overlooked.

And also, this is important: The narrative about Coach Campbell and this player “retainment” needs to be cleared. This narrative needs to change. I can 100% guarantee that not a single player that left was pushed out or told to leave. The first thing Coach Campbell said when he met with the current roster at the time was, “The door is open if you want to come back.”

When Coach Campbell came on, he welcomed everybody on the roster an opportunity to come back, even placing two walk-ons on scholarship. Every player that left, left on their own accord for the betterment of their own future. No one was asked to leave or was run out. Coach Campbell believed Penn State already had most of the talent it needed; it just needed the correct coaching/structure. Kicking guys out was not his interest.

Many of us have no idea of the challenges taking place behind the curtain at a major football program, and how those challenges can impact individual career trajectories. Leadership matters. Coaching and culture matter. It seems evident that once the cracks in the foundation began to appear in 2025, all the talent in the nation couldn’t save the Nittany Lions from imploding.

The 2025 season is officially over. Penn State football is now in a fantastic position with a strong culture, a clear path, and a desire to be on top. There are many people working hard to get the Nittany Lions back on track for years to come.

The plane is being rebuilt, stronger than ever. And learning from mistakes is the best way to grow. As an individual, as a program, and as fans.

Lucas Tenbrock is one of the top high school punting and kicking prospects in the country, combining size, strength, and athleticism with elite production. At 6’6” and 220 pounds, he has an ideal college-ready frame and consistently delivers Division I–level performance.

As a punter, Lucas shows an outstanding blend of distance and hang time. His best punts travel more than 50 yards with over 5.0 seconds of hang time, showcasing the ability to flip the field and give coverage units time to work. He is also an excellent placekicker, striking a clean, accurate ball on field goals with reliable range beyond 55 yards. On kickoffs, he drives the ball deep into the end zone with 4.0-plus seconds of hang time, further demonstrating his all-around specialist skill set.

Lucas is ranked as the No. 72 player in Illinois and the No. 5 punter nationally in the Class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He also earned DuKane Conference Specialist of the Year honors for his standout performances at St. Charles North High School.

One of the highlights of his career so far has been being selected as a Navy All-American Bowl punter, an honor reserved for only four specialists nationwide. Tenbrock described the achievement as a major milestone, noting how rare and meaningful the opportunity is. His journey into punting began with a background in soccer, which helped him develop a natural kicking motion at a young age. Once he reached high school, he transitioned fully into kicking and punting, rapidly improving with the support of teammates, coaches, and trainers. He credits his high school coach, Pomazak, along with kicking coaches Chris Nendick and Chris Sailer, for guiding his development both on and off the field.

Receiving the Navy All-American recognition was especially rewarding for Tenbrock, as it marked the realization of a goal he had set for himself the year before. With his talent, work ethic, and strong support system, he is poised to step onto the field in Happy Valley, making a strong, immediate impact.

Basic Blues was recently able to have a great interview with Lucas and learn more about this new, elite member of Penn State for the Nittany Nation.

Q: Good morning, Lucas, thanks for taking the time to sit down for Basic Blues Nation and chat. Congrats on your commitment to Penn State. We are very happy to have you. Let’s dive in!

How does it feel to be part of the framework and “tip of the spear” for this new era of Penn State football?

A: It’s a blessing to be a part of this new era of Penn State football, and I am extremely excited to play for a team in the Big Ten, due to its prestige and honor in the college football community. Most of all, I’m happy to continue to play under Matt Campbell, who is a coach I have great respect for based on the impression he made at Iowa State.

Q: You definitely have the ability to make an immediate impact at Penn State, especially during a rebuild year. In your mind, what does a successful first year with Lucas Tenbrock back there look like?

A: A successful year for me means competing for the starting punter spot with whoever is brought in, and whether I receive the job or not…executing at a high level and learning at a high level to continue to improve and develop my skills so I am ready to be on the field whenever my name is called.

Q: It’s obvious that Coach Campbell prioritized you early and prioritized the punter position. How often are you in communication with the staff? What’s that relationship look like now in the ramp-up to heading to PSU?

A: Prior to [coming to] Penn State, the staff was extremely engaging with me and my family. Constantly reaching out to me. Whether it was wishing me a happy Thanksgiving or wishing me luck in a high school playoff game. They have continued to do so after I committed, and they are very mindful about checking in with my family and how we are doing.

Q: You’ve spoken about your relationship with Coach Campbell, the level of trust and comfort being a large part of your decision. We’re seeing that with other recruits as well. What is your favorite thing about Coach Campbell so far?

A: One of my favorite things about Campbell is how hospitable he is. On my official visit to Iowa State, he welcomed me and my family to his house with open arms. Additionally, even with all the craziness happening at Penn State right now, he managed to take the time to wish me and my family a merry Christmas.

Q: You will soon have one of the greatest honors available to high school prospects, participating in the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl on January 10. What has that experience been like for you?

A: The process for being selected to the All-American game followed being selected at the Chris Sailer Vegas camp to have the opportunity to compete for a spot in this game at a later camp called Top 12. Once at Top 12, you compete with the top 50 specialists around the country in last man standing competitions, where the winner gets the spot. I finished in 2nd place on the first day, narrowly missing one of the punting spots, and won the second day, securing my place at this game.

Q: By the way, San Antonio is great. I’ve been there many times. Check out Los Bollitos for the best Tex-Mex, in my opinion.

A: Yessir, I love Texas. I used to live in Mansfield until 2021. I was born in Mansfield. My personal favorite place in Texas is Torchys tacos. The queso is the best!!!

Q: What’s next for you? What changes for you now, if anything?

A: Can’t say there are many changes, but the next thing coming up is my official visit, which should take place sometime at the end of January.

Whose your top three favorite football players that you’ve loved to watch, maybe influences?

And welcome to the Penn State Creamery! What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

A: My favorite football players have to be Ceedee Lamb (not too much of an influence on my position, just like the guy lol), Pat McAfee, and George Pickens (same thing with Ceedee).

Favorite ice cream flavor is cookies and cream or rainbow sherbet.
