This has always been an exciting part of our Salty work….scouring for MB candidates…I literally analyzed 200+ stocks during the Q1 earnings cycle and I plan to do so again.

Today, we own 6 multi-bagger stocks…all of them doing very well in terms of their business roadmap and product-market-fit. In the May/June timeframe, we locked in MB gains of as high as +69%. Our last sell & close was a minor loss of -4%. Then, in July, we started reloading back into these MB picks at seriously attractive lower prices…ready for the next round of profit taking.

In fact, 5 of these stocks have surpassed key confidence levels in our investment thesis, such that we are actively looking to buy more and letting them run now that their sales traction is picking up speed.

Our MB picks represent sectors like materials, energy, AI, crypto, networking and space.

During this Q2 earning season, I am particularly interested in finding a good quantum computing MB pick stock…maybe even nuclear energy and agri-tech…

Here is how markets stand today…

The Nasdaq kept trending lower over the second half of the month as the South Korean markets caught a serious cold and cough from over-leveraged bets in tech stocks. As margin calls led to steep drops in stock prices, markets were halted multiple times by limit down circuit breakers.

US markets also caught this feverish bug with large funds getting massively liquidated…all this leading to flushing lower on Jul 29th.

The QQQ has recovered a bit since then, however the lower trend channel is still very much in play.

This is why we sold and closed several trades last week, while keeping our BTD activities to a very surgical minimum.

Looking at the chart above, one would say that daily trading volume has increased and that is a good sign. However, we should note that most of this was selling and there could be more traders who get out if and when the market tries to rise higher.

The $714 level is the critical level that we need to get above to have any sort of confidence that trading risk has come down.

We will also get early insight into 2027 AI capex spending via reports from ASML and TSM. After all, the former makes the machines that the latter buys to make the chips that go into the data centers. And all these orders have to be placed into the queue 12-24 months in advance.

And then the likes of UNH, ISRG, ELV will tell us whether GLP1 drugs are actually changing how healthy we are or if it is just a short term mirage.

As we go further into the earnings season, we will get more information on our current multi-bagger (MB) picks and new MB candidates will float to the top for us to consider.

This is the exciting part of our Salty work….scouring for more MB candidates…I literally analyzed 200+ stocks in the Q1 earnings cycle and I want to do it again. Using AI for some of this work has been a boon and I will try to continue this level of screening because it seems to be paying off.

Here is how markets stand today…

The Nasdaq tested, dropped below and regained its 50DMA. This is a healthy sign of more bullishness in the market.

However, daily trading volume has been dropping off for the past 10-12 days….folks are starting to get into vacation mode after the busy June-end, 2nd quarter-end frenzy.

710 once again proved to be good support for the QQQ and 750 is the top side resistance to beat. The QQQs have been in this range for 2 months now.

Meanwhile, the options markets are again giving off complacency warnings, which we don’t like. More specifically, single stock volatility and options pricing is significantly higher than that for the major market indexes. This usually leads to a drop…sometimes a crash.

We continue to keep readers updated on our Market signal (see more below) which guides our entries and exits. So far our BTD actions are paying off even as semiconductor darling stocks are taking it on the chin. Some of our re-entries are already up as much as 35-40%.

We had a very productive run since the April drop with a 77% win ratio. Overall this has been our best trading year ever…by a wide margin.

Here is how markets stand today…

The Nasdaq lost its momentum 20DMA in early June and since has been respecting its 50DMA higher. This is a green shoot worth noting…however it still needs to show other healthy signals before we are completely convinced.

710 seems to be a decent support level that has been tested several times since May. But, momentum and buying volume continues to be tepid and “fear” in the market is elevated as per the CNN F&G index.

Here’s the thing though. The bull case depends almost entirely on one thing right now — a signed US-Iran agreement that lifts oil sanctions and reopens the Strait of Hormuz. If that happens, energy inflation reverses, the Fed gets room to hold without hawkish signaling, and the S&P has a clean path higher. That’s the upside scenario and it’s a real one. AI stocks are not taking markets higher by themselves anymore even though they now represent 49% of the S&P 500.

The risk is just as real — this week proved how fast sentiment flips. We went from “strikes cancelled, deal is close” on Thursday morning to Trump threatening to hit Iran “VERY HARD” Thursday night and back to cautious optimism by Friday’s close. That’s a lot of whipsaw in 48 hours and markets are getting tired of the “cry wolf” ups and downs.

Therefore, I’m treating this as a relief rally in a still-uncertain environment as we head into a very critical week for the rest of the Summer. The US Feds will make a decision on rates…I think they will hold rates steady in this June meeting. And we have a massive triple-witching options expiration on Thu.

We had a very productive run since April with a 77% trade win ratio and now we decided to take major action in our trading book...

We have had our strongest trading YTD ever…by a massive 5x margin. I have never seen anything like this before.

Part of our success is likely because I am taking a more planned and thoughtful approach to my trading ideas and execution. I continue to make mistakes, but learning to keep the scope of my mistakes small while being patient to let winners run longer and taking gains along the way. Now using AI to enhance my multi-bagger and trading research and analysis has been a huge catalyst and additional success factor.

Big recovery higher on Thu based on a tweet and meh activity on Fri in spite of the largest IPO in history. We are right at strong institutional activity levels around $720…see those dashed black horizontal lines on the chart above. That is where large funds are either buying or selling…we don’t know what they are doing as yet.

We currently have 8 open trades and all of them are cooking…6 are positively boiling! This allowed us to take gains multiple times and now we are playing with house money in those positions.

As we get to the end of the Q1 earnings season, most of our time is focused on finding new multi-bagger picks because we have fresh business performance data on stocks. We are heads down in this research and our work helped us enter 3 new, exciting MB picks in May…each of them representing massive business opportunities in emerging sectors that we identified late last year.

That said, I see more concern amongst the astute trader community that I follow. Many of them consider this “crash up higher” to now be in unhealthy territory. To be clear, these are not perma-bears or worry-willows. None of these gurus are flashy, YTD reporting fintwit. They are measured in their words and tend to call it like it is…with more of a bullish leaning if anything. So when these guys are raising cautionary flags, I stop to listen.

The melt up continues on much lower volume…much, much lower volume…you can see it on the chart above and this is perhaps the biggest concerning technical signal of all.

The Put:Call ratio for single stocks is the lowest it has been since 2021. Anyone remember what happened in 2022?

And JPM reported on their data center build out tracking, "The latest analysis based on satellite images shows that over 60% of data center capacity planned for completion in 2027 has not begun construction with another 7% delayed".

Those that I consider way smarter than me are telling me that it might be prudent to get more cautious with my salty trading.

Here is how markets stand today…

Do you see what I see?

A bit of a rollover, eh? Daily volume has been dropping for almost 8 weeks…it jumped up on Fri when the market lost -1.5%. More 52-week lows and fewer new 52-week highs. More stocks dropping below their 50DMA. Strong hedging remains in place.

While all these technical signals are pointing to elevated risks, we logged some very profitable trades over the past 2 weeks.

I have been pointing to these warning signals for weeks, but markets keep climbing and stocks continue to move + or - 5-10% on a daily basis. This volatility is so normal now that we are numb to big jumps and severe drops.

One thing is for certain in all this…it is not a dull market. It keeps us on our toes all the time.

Q1 earnings reports are coming in strong, although markets are not consistently rewarding good business performance. The 10-year US bond rate is close to testing a break out above the all important 4.5%…this is the level which makes the Trump admin nervous. Additionally, the Japanese CB had to intervene to prevent the yen from a sharp drop in value…they sold US$ to buy yen, which in turn lead the US$ to drop lower and briefly took oil prices lower and stock prices higher.

Meanwhile, we expanded our trading book including a brand new multi-bagger pick.

This run up higher is one for the history books. The drop lower was slow but the recovery was unlike markets have ever seen before in such a short period of time. Usually drops are sharper and recoveries are longer-drawn.

Markets seem to have moved on from the ME war…they are considering it yesterday’s issue. We kinda agree with them.

Yes, we still need to get a firm peace deal. However, the ceasefire seems to be holding…so far…and this improves the chances of both sides coming to some sort of agreement, even if it is temporary. If military action ramps up again, it is likely to be short-lived because neither party can afford to prolong these battles for too long. The economic, political and human stakes are too high for everyone involved…in spite of the online bravado.

So what does that mean for us traders?

We keep our politics out of our trading process. We try to see the facts and signals as they present themselves. We focus on price action, market momentum and trading volume trends.

The Nasdaq made a furious run higher over the past 13 days. This is one of the top 3 such drastic moves up…certainly one for the history books.

We were right on the money about the bounce because QQQ was coming up on strong support at 560. That is where traders come in to BTD. We rode this wave higher in a QLD trade.

We did not see the QQQ easily rising above the 200DMA…but it did and it never looked back.

We sensed that the bounce was coming purely for technical reasons. However, we were more interested in confirming the nature of the bounce and its related signals. Those signals are now making themselves a bit more apparent.

Traders have been looking for clues all Sun…crypto trades 24x7…ME markets opened lower today and they will be closed for 2-3 days starting tomorrow.

Markets had already priced in some of this ME geopolitical risk ahead of the latest military actions. We saw this reflected in strong recent gains in oil and gold. Oil is up +20% in 6 weeks and gold gained +13% in a month. Bullish CALL options in oil were prices about 8-10x as compared to bearish PUT options.

So on Monday…

…we could expect an initial market drop (how much is up in the air) driven by all the uncertainty.

Markets hate uncertainty.

So what will give them a show of certainty?

Any indications that the military action is slowing down and coming to some sort of ST closure. If the military phase proves brief and de-escalation signals emerge, risk assets could recover quickly given how much fear is already embedded in prices.

On the other hand, if markets get a whiff of a prolonged conflict that disrupts traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, potentially pushing oil much higher and reigniting inflation pressures…then we could see a deeper correction. As per Bloomberg, about 20% of the world’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices tend to rise about 4% in response to a 1% reduction in supply. Brent oil closed at $72 on Fri.

We believe that the US admin strongly prefers a rapid resolution, which would allow markets to stabilize once the immediate uncertainty fades. In fact they have already sent out cease-fire feelers to Iran.

It remains to be seen how things play out.

Until then we will be closely monitoring US market futures tonight and early pre-market action tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, fintwit continues to exhort their rabid followers to buy the dip because apparently the turn is near. No concrete reasons follow…just blind faith to buy the dip because markets always bounce back and YTD highs are around the corner.

Many of these idiots even went on heavy margin to DCA lower into their pump-and-dump favorite stocks like APP, RDDT, DUOL, PYPL, UBER, AXON etc.

Meanwhile, we asked our readers to look for signs that green shoots might be sprouting. We told them to keep an eye on the post-Q4-ER market reaction for stocks like HOOD, ALAB, SHOP, APP, NBIS, COIN, VRT, OPEN, UPST and perhaps more importantly MCD, KO and WEN.

To no surprise of ours, many of these AI, tech, momentum and meme stocks got sold in spite of decent earnings reports and realistic guidance. Meanwhile low-K-shaped-economy stocks like MCD, WMT and KO got bought. Value stocks like UNH were bid higher.

The Nasdaq double topped at the $636 mark and has been living comfortably under the all important 50DMA for two weeks.

See the chart below…

9 of the past 13 days have seen mostly selling-heavy volume. This has pushed more stocks below their own 50DMAs.

When we look at the SP500, the situation is no different. The volatility of the average stock in the SP500 index spiked to about 11% over the last month, the highest since the Great Financial crisis. At the same time, the index has been range-bound in a +/-3% pocket. Such divergence has been observed only 1% of the time over the last 30 years…during periods of extreme market stress.

The market is falling apart under the hood.

The fear and greed index touched “Extreme Fear” levels on Thu as the QQQ dropped to its lowest level YTD.

I agree…perplexing, baffling. It tests the best of us. I notice (read) many questioning their holdings wondering whether to sell their beaten down stocks. They seem equally confused about whether to buy stocks that are on sale.

“Investors” are being pushed to behave like “traders” and vice versa.

In Sept last year, I attended an investment event where Liz Ann Sonders of Schwab told us that about 25% of market action is retail driven. It seems to have risen much more…even over the past 5 months.

I frequently check the Fidelity orders-by-customers dashboard that tracks retail buy-sell behavior. Retail has been buying the dip all of 2024, all of 2025 and even at the start of this year. However, the tide seems to be shifting slowly but surely. This week, for the first time, I noticed more selling than buying in names like NVDA, TSLA, INTC, AVGO and AMD. At the same time, they are still BTDing into beaten down stocks like MSFT, NFLX and AMZN. This is another sign of the investor/trader confusion of the times.

In early Dec, it was clear that the Santa rally was off the table and tax loss harvesting was being front-run. Beachman’s Salty Trades is not a rah-rah, fin-twit undertaking. It is a heads down, seriously analytical approach to finding future multi-bagger stocks and ETFs while trading in the market that is in front of us, irrespective of the direction in which it is moving.

We knew that there would not be a Santa Rally this year…as soon as early December and we alerted our readers then. We were able to scale back our trading activity accordingly to protect capital.

2025 Salty Trading Report Card

We wrapped up 2025 with 64% of our trades being profitable.

Our two most positive trades were for a neocloud stock at +108% and an energy stock at +71%. We also successfully closed a several options trades at +100% returns.

One of our worst trades was a PUT option on WDC that went -100% south, expiring worthless. As soon as we entered the trade, the stock took off higher and never looked back.

Now 2026 is upon us and we plan to attack this year with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Energy from resting over the past two weeks and enthusiasm about the upcoming volatility in the market that will give us many more opportunities to profit from.

Emerging themes for 2026

2025 was dominated by all things AI and we are heavily invested in these themes in our long term SWAT portfolio linked above.

However, on this Salty substack, we are looking further out in time…say 18-24 months beyond to identify companies that could 2x-3x in value as they launch their cutting-edge, never-seen-before technologies and products.

We are focusing our screeners on the following themes:

• Physical AI

  Gartner identified “Physical AI” as a top strategic technology trend for 2026, describing it as the deployment of intelligence into the real world to power robots, drones, and smart equipment. This is very different from generative AI, which produces digital content. Physical AI produces action. It is the next phase in the proliferation of AI…embedded intelligence driving physical systems such as humanoid robots in our daily lives and autonomous AI agents in industries like manufacturing, construction, retail and healthcare.

• Nuclear technology

  Small modular reactors (SMRs) are urgently needed today as a reliable, carbon-free energy source to meet rising global electricity demand, especially from all those new energy-intensive data centers. Their smaller size and modular pre-fabrication promise lower capital costs and quicker installations as compared to traditional large-scale nuclear plants, enabling deployment in more diverse and remote locations while enhancing safety through passive cooling systems. Emerging nuclear tech is expected to further advance in 2026 with a focus on higher efficiency, lower waste reduction, and quicker go-to-market.

• Power technologies

  Advanced power tech like batteries are a critical enabler for the growing global energy needs mentioned above. They also provide a viable solution for the intermittency of renewable sources like solar and wind. Users need to store excess energy for use during peak times or periods of low supply or generation. This helps stabilize the grid, defers costly infrastructure upgrades, and reduces reliance on traditional energy sources. We will focus our investigations primarily on battery technologies…there are a variety of them in development, aiming for enhanced safety, lower costs, and longer lifespans to meet the growing demand from electric vehicles, data centers, and growing population centers.

• Critical natural resources like Water

  Emerging water technologies are urgently needed today because nearly half the world's population is projected to live in areas of high water stress by 2030 due to climate change and increasing demand, requiring innovative solutions to ensure water security and access to clean drinking water. The global water crisis necessitates advanced solutions that go beyond traditional methods, addressing issues like aging infrastructure, contamination from emerging pollutants (e.g., PFAS, microplastics), and the energy-intensive nature of current desalination processes. This is going to be an interesting sector to dig into.

• Agricultural tech

  Hand-in-hand with the water scarcity described above, comes the global challenge of food insecurity for a growing population, soil degradation, and a persistent labor shortage. There are several small companies developing interesting agricultural technologies to help farmers boost yields, reduce environmental impact, and build climate resilience. This segment intersects with other cutting edge fields like AI, robotics, bioengineering and drones.

• Quantum computing

  Quantum computing (QC) is moving from the realm of physics experiments to product engineering. The key challenge of QC is noise (errors). In 2026, we could see logical qubits that last long enough to perform useful work. We might even see QC systems embedded in data centers to handle a portion of supercomputing needs in the end-to-end processing lifecycle. In an adjacent vertical, the threat of QC breaking encryption is driving the post-quantum-cryptography (PQC) market…where governments and banks are upgrading their security stacks in anticipation of “Q-Day”.

• Defense tech

  Wars are still raging around the world and peace is not breaking out any time soon. At the same time, the character of warfare is rapidly evolving beyond the traditional men, tanks, planes, ships and submarines. The emergence of new, disruptive threats in the physical world and in the ether require enhanced speed and adaptability to maintain national security and military superiority. We are talking about emerging defense technologies like autonomous drones, hypersonic weapons, unmanned ground vehicles, directed energy weapons, and advanced quantum computing for secure communications and encryption.

All the sectors listed above have multiple cross-pollination vectors and enablers like AI, data, robotics, drones, power etc. So we will be fluid and flexible with our research and analysis while employing a holistic mindset.

Sectors we will avoid and why

There are a few sectors that we will not spend time and energy on and here’s why:

• Space - There are very few companies operating in this segment and they are valued much larger than the ideal SMB size for multi-bagging. Lots of meme stocks in here too, btw.

• Biotechnology - This is not an area of expertise for me and therefore I prefer to stay away. Additionally, these products tend to have long lead times from initial investment through multiple clinical testing phases before they can launch their products.

How we search for multi-baggers

It takes time to find a good multi-bagger candidate that has the potential of truly multiplying in value as the business launches, grows and becomes profitable.

We look for the following characteristics in these potential future market leaders:

1. A small to medium market cap that has the potential to at least 4-5x in value over the next 5 years.

2. A business with strong future growth potential supported by a powerful, multi-year catalyst…secular, macro, sector, innovation, product market fit etc.

3. Solid competitive advantage(s). They don’t have to be #1 in the industry, but there needs to be a competitive edge that supports their ability to grab increasing market share.

4. Attractive Beachman scores - Fundamentals, Growth and Valuation.

5. Improving fundamentals that don’t not have to be perfect, but are making progress towards a healthy balance sheet, expanding margins and growing cash flows because this helps fund future hyper growth either organically or via R&D or M&A.

6. Founder-led companies because the management still has skin in the game, which improves the chances of blood, sweat and tears being invested to help the company succeed.

7. We avoid meme stocks, cryptocurrencies and ETFs, even though some of them have the potential to multiply in value.

Next steps

In 2026, you will see a renewed and stronger focus on multi-bagger picks.

This is one of our strengths and we intend to lean into it.

We are good at finding them, we are good at pin-pointing better entry points and subsequent buy points. And our bottoms-up research and analysis process enables us to exit when appropriate to protect gains and reduce losses.

In 2025, we have been mostly successful with our picks. However, we dropped one stock when it failed to secure critical, new contracts. This is likely to happen again…there is no guarantee of success. Therefore, one needs to size one’s investments into these MB picks appropriately based on one’s risk tolerance. I would not advocate YOLOing 100% of one’s capital into 1 or 2 such stocks.

We will be extra picky with our screening, research, analysis and our short-listing.

We are not going to just throw stuff at the wall to see if anything sticks.
