From a lovely but (very) hot week in Italy this summer.

With that said, during this last week of endless free time before starting my new job, my oldest one starts school, and renovation begins, I am starting to slowly force my mind into city mode so I’m not overwhelmed on Monday, the 17th of August. One way of doing this is to slowly come back to routines, and making lists of the things I am looking forward to the coming months. Hopefully that will to the trick to get my back-to-the-city spark back.

Summer Things Worth Keeping

What I want to bring with me from summer’s routine into late summer and fall, to make the transition to this new season softer.

• This summer I have been totally hooked on at home workouts, Melissa Wood Health and Tasha Franken Studio being my favourite ones. I am excited for a fall with one less thing to schedule and rush to, and to be able to choose my workout based on the time I have, how my body feels and how my mind feels that day.

• I’ve read more than ever this summer and my favourites have been Heart the Lover by Lily King and The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout. I am looking forward to a fall where this continues to be a routine during bedtime.

• Gua Sha on my legs before bedtime really do wonders, same with dry brushing, sauna dates and legs up the wall for 10 minutes in the evening! Note to self to not deprioritize this when days get hectic.

• A new found favourite this summer has been A Hint of Summer self tan from Rudolph Care. Will continue to use this for a subtle natural glow and color.

• Before summer, I did a deep dive into my health through blood work and working with a hormone coach. One of my biggest learnings was the importance of rest and nutrition - and realizing that I needed to re-evaluate what those two actually looked like for me and how deeply individual it is from person to person. Summer became the perfect time to rediscover what these two pillars truly mean for my mind and body, and I was surprised by how much of a difference simply being mindful of them made. Maybe summer’s biggest learning and one I really hope I can carry with me.

Things to look forward to in early fall

• On Thursday I am back in the city and my first stop is manicure and pedicure - looking forward to a deep burgundy color, nothings feels more fall than that!

• Every six months I reflect on where I am heading, our goals as a family, how I am feeling and setting my intentions for the coming months. During a break when the mind is calm is the perfect time to do it - add a few hours on Pinterest to curate your fall mood board while you are at it!

• I have started on a list of all the things I want to cook when back in the city. This Chocolate Mousse Tiramisu recipe is high on up that list, together with all things pear for some reason. Yesterday I did this recipe from Marmeladeriet but changed from apple to pear and cardamom and it turned out so good! There was some pear compote left, so we had it this morning with yoghurt, granola and nut butter - a staple I’ll definitely try to keep in my fridge going forward. Other random things on the list: salmon, rice, cabbage, doing a big order from Fresh Land and Gårdens.

• Curating fall’s reading list is a small joy in itself, I have added more Elizabeth Strout books (love her), looking forward to read Finding Grace by Loretta Rothschild and curious about Whistler by Ann Patchett. Also looking forward to watching The Five Start Weekend with Jennifer Garner and later this fall War with Sienna Miller.

• After a summer of short skincare routines, I’m excited to try out a few new products to see if they make the cut. I’ve used this serum all spring and it has been amazing, but unfortunately, it’s completely impossible to repurchase in Sweden. So I asked ChatGPT if it could recommend a similar one, and it turns out this serum from SkinCeuticals + this one from Anua should have a similar effect. Worth a try! Also time to stock up on my everyday favourites for an easy fall routine; the best everyday moisturizer under make-up , cleanser and milky toner.

• Lastly, one thing that always excites me is to book fun things in advance, to look forward to them is a joy in itself. Dates with friends and husband and fun things with the kids. Don’t miss Emil i Lönneberga this fall and I am also so excited to bring the kids for the first time to see the Nutcracker in December.

That is that, a fall to look forward to indeed.

An author that never disappoints?

Caroline: Such a difficult question! Fredrik Backman is one of my all-time favorites - I’d almost call him an idol. If you haven’t read his latest novel, My Friends, please do. Otherwise, I think Valerie Perrin is a wonderful writer, and Jeanine Cummins tells incredible stories too.

A book you think everyone should read this summer?

Caroline: I have to recommend my favorite read from last summer: Shark Heart by Emily Habeck. It’s heartfelt, devastating, deeply human, and completely unique all at once.

I also have to mention The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden, which I absolutely loved, and Lost Lambs by Madeleine Cash if you’re looking for something fresh and genuinely funny.

A book you’d recommend if you want to escape reality?

Caroline: Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It’s part of a series, but you can honestly start with any of them. They’re gentle, comforting, and the perfect escape from reality.

If you’re looking for something even further removed from everyday life, I’d recommend anything by Madeline Miller. The Song of Achilles is absolutely beautiful.

If someone hasn’t read a book in years, what’s the one book you’d give them to get them back into reading?

Caroline: I’d choose something that grabs you from the very first page, like Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. It’s absolutely worth all the hype, tackles such a timely subject, and you’ll fly through the pages just to find out what happens.

I’d also recommend almost anything by Matt Haig. His books are funny, imaginative, and feel like quirky fairy tales for adults. The Midnight Library is a wonderful place to start.

With this slower pace, my mind starts to wander again, and inspiration always follows. Magazines are fun to flip through again, I’m saving and screenshotting things I see on Instagram, and I finally placed a big book order with reads I hope to get through this summer (amongst other’s this one since I loved The Wedding People). So with that introduction, let’s have a look at the things I’ve seen, saved and loved lately!

• I have always been a big House & Garden fan, and their July issue did not disappoint. I think their photography is so beautiful, and I especially loved this home below in Oxfordshire.

• From time to time I read Goop’s horoscope and my Cancer predictions for July sounded very promising. Another read this weekend is this week’s HTSI which has a flower focus, impossible to get my hands on in the archipelago but a lot of reading can be done online. Loved this article.

• Saving all the inspo of summer food I can get my hands on and the below summer spread via Dining with Flynn was a mix of everything I want to eat this season. Melon and ham via Frederik Bille Brahe is also a must during the warm summer days, and the other day when we cooked dinner with friends we did the most amazing dessert that you have to try. Homemade caramel sauce with butter fried nectarines served with vanilla ice cream. Simple and delicious. Next time I will sprinkle a few toasted pecan nuts over as Happier Grocery do on the pic below to make it even better!

• Artist Tess Newall collaborated with Diptyque for their new Marylebone store - “Inspired by a sketch painted by the brand’s founder in the 1960s, our brief was to capture the spirit of the Provençal countryside. Grasses sway in the breeze and leaves trail across the cornice, painterly marks becoming both abstract and representational.“ Turned our so beautiful and the dream to have a huge painting like this at home!

• This one by Evy is a new discovery that has truly saved me. For someone who has suffered from sun eczema and sun sensitivity for as long as I can remember this has been a game changer, makes my skin so soft as well. Use it as your regular body lotion and your skin will strengthen its barrier and be more resilient. Don’t forget to use SPF (SPF 50 if you are me) as well!

• I made a big Uniqlo order after realizing I need more t-shirts for the summer, and this Mini Tee that I ordered in several colors is my new favourite! Perfect mid-weight material, perfect neckline (not too wide) and great length. If you are between sizes, size up!

Almost always, the answer is myself. Sometimes I put on a dress I know my husband loves, but most of the time it is my own comfort and preferences that guide my choices. The downside of that, however, is that my outfits can sometimes become a little too safe. Comfortable, yes, but not especially special. I have written before about wanting to find my way back to the joy of dressing, and I think I may have finally found the best way to look at it.

It all started a few months ago when I was deciding what to wear to an upcoming wedding. My daughter, who is almost four, sat on our bed watching me try on different options. After a few dresses, I slipped into a light blue one covered in silver embroidery which I thought was a bit extra, and she gasped before shouting, “Mommy, you look like a princess!”

In her world, this was the most beautiful dress she had ever seen. (I should mention that she quickly added, “When I grow up, this dress is mine!”) She immediately wondered why I did not wear it more often because, as she put it, “you are so pretty in it.”

You could melt for less.

But her comment stayed with me. Looking at the dress, I realized she was right - it really was beautiful. More importantly, I felt wonderful wearing it at the wedding.

A few weeks later, when the weather had warmed up and I was getting dressed for work, I reached for something other than my usual denim: a white poplin skirt paired with a simple T-shirt. Nothing crazy but the reaction was immediate.

“Wow, what a pretty skirt. Perfect for dancing. You look really nice, Mommy.”

That little comment completely made my day. And it continued to motivate me to put together outfits that might spark the same enthusiastic reaction again and again with her and eventually bringing out the same feeling in myself.

Reflecting on it, I realized that this was what I had been looking for all along: the joy of getting dressed. The joy of wearing something that feels special. The joy of a really beautiful dress that can be appreciated whether you are 34 or 4 years old.

So this summer, my daughter will be the one I am dressing for. My daughter - and perhaps the little girl in myself who would absolutely love all the options we have as grown-ups and wonder why we do not make the most of them.

With that in mind, I gathered a few “princess” dresses and other special pieces that I love for summer. Toddler-approved, of course, and guaranteed to bring a little more joy back into getting dressed. Enjoy and find the whole selection here!

The days are longer, the sun feels warmer, and evenings are spent outside after work and preschool. Even though there’s still a month to go until vacation, I’ve been trying to bring a more relaxed mindset into everyday life. So lately, I’ve been fully leaning into all things summer and slow living - from the food I make to the little details and routines that shape our days. Partly because I don’t want to crash into vacation getting hit by the flu, and partly because I want summer to feel as long and lingering as possible. So today, I wanted to share a glimpse of the things currently inspiring me - the ideas, rituals and small pleasures that have found their way onto my summer mood board.

1. Switching the bag

One easy switch that instantly brings out your summer mood is swapping your everyday work tote for something with a more seasonal feel. A raffia tote or any woven bag adds that effortless vacation vibe that, in my opinion, makes every outfit look a little better. I’m obsessed with my new Dragon Diffusion bag (I can already tell it’s going to be one of my best purchases of the year) and now I want the red one too. Speaking of color, there’s nothing better than a tote that can take you from morning yoga, to work, to school pick-up and then onto an evening swim ( and eventually your summer travels) and this classic one in this strawberry shade makes me happy every single time I see it.

2. Evening walk

Nothing groundbreaking here, but heading out for a long walk after dinner as the sun starts to set is one of those simple pleasures I never get tired of. The air is a little cooler, the light lingers, and whether I’m walking alone or with a friend, it’s the perfect way to get some steps in while winding down after the day. I also always sleep better after an evening walk and somehow the days feel longer when I make the most of every last minute outside. It’s such an easy, simple ritual but the reward is big!

3. Bring a book

I read so much more during the summer, and I start now already by not only reading in the evenings but bringing a book with me wherever I go. A favourite habit of mine is squeezing in 20 minutes with a coffee and a few pages outside in the sun during lunch hour. A little slice of vacation during your work day! Adding this, this and this (last one is my favourite easy-to-read author, perfect books for summer!) to my summer book list.

4. Adding a new pair of denim to your rotation

Blue denim and a simple white tee are a forever combo, but sometimes it can feel a little... boring. Hence, colored denim! White denim paired with black, navy, or tone-on-tone shades of cream is a tried-and-true color combination that I find myself returning to year after year. Green denim is another great option - simply styled with the perfect tee, your favorite summer bag (see point one), and a pair of flip-flops. This summer, though, I’ve completely fallen for a pair of pink jeans from Still Here NY, sold out of course.. but one can dream!

5. Summer menus

Burrata salad with tomatoes, nectarines, mint, basil, shallots, olive oil, salt and pepper. A morning yogurt bowl with nectarines (yes, I’m obsessed), blueberries, mint, honey, and granola - homemade when I have the energy, but more often than not I happily splurge on the delicious one from Stora Bageriet. Easy weeknight pizzas topped with courgette, spinach, toasted seeds, and mozzarella. Rhubarb compote, yogurt, cardamom, and pistachios on my morning porridge. Instagram is one of my favorite sources of summer food inspiration. We make this and this recipe by Elsa Billgren on repeat throughout the warmer months, and summer food queens Meredith Hayden and Elsa’s Appetite never disappoints.

In what ways has motherhood surprised you?

Kate: I feel more confident and sure of who I am than ever before. Motherhood stripped away a lot of the noise for me and made me care more about building a life that actually feels meaningful.

Antonia: Motherhood has opened so many doors to my past and helped me understand myself more clearly. It’s made me reflect on parts of my personality I used to question or try to change, and instead see them with much more compassion. It has also made me realize how differently people experience the world, and how much of ourselves we spend years trying to shape around certain expectations. Becoming a mother has given me a much deeper sense of understanding and acceptance toward myself and others.

What part of motherhood do you wish people talked about more?

Kate: I think we hear constantly about how hard motherhood is, which of course is true, but I wish more people talked about the beauty of it too. I really believe there’s power in choosing to notice the small joyful moments instead of only focusing on survival.

Antonia: How deeply it reconnects you with your own childhood and your sense of self. Becoming a parent brings so much reflection alongside the joy, and I think people talk too little about how easy it can be to lose parts of yourself while caring for everyone else.

How do you recharge and find time for yourself?

Kate: I absolutely love being around my people, my husband, daughter, and family, but as a creative, I really do need alone time to recharge and channel my creativity. A couple days a month, my husband will take my daughter and give me the day to do whatever I want, whether that’s writing, wandering through a bookstore, or simply being alone with my thoughts. It always leaves me feeling creatively recharged. Finding balance with that is still something I’m navigating in motherhood.

Antonia: Honestly, I’m still figuring this out. I’m constantly trying to become better at slowing down and creating small moments for myself. Small things like walks, mindful breathing, writing on my Substack, and tiny pauses during the workday help me feel a little more like myself again. Growing up, horses and riding were my greatest source of peace, and I deeply miss having that in my life. I hope to find my way back to it as my children grow.

What are your everyday essentials?

Kate: Coffee, a good lip product, oversized sunglasses, walks outside, music in the background, and an outfit that makes me feel like myself.

Antonia: Strong coffee with milk in the morning, my cargo bike, Byredo Casablanca Lily, and Sibyllans Sleepy Time tea in the evening.

What are you dreaming of right now?

Kate: I’m dreaming of a slow, beautiful life filled with family, creativity, more children, experiencing the world, and plenty of time gathered around tables with people I love. I want to keep building a life that feels inspiring but also deeply grounded.

Antonia: Summer at our place in Skåne and swimming in the warm Mediterranean Sea. Slow mornings, salty skin, long dinners outside, and nowhere particular to be.

Today I thought I would start a new series here focusing solely on interiors and upcoming renovations. I love following these journeys myself and hope you will like it! I am no expert (never renovated much before) but feel super enthusiastic about this and have a goal of just creating a very cozy and warm home - that’s it really!

I thought we had all the time in the world since we’re getting the keys in mid-August and (hopefully) moving in before Christmas. But it turns out a lot of decisions need to be made before summer in order for things to arrive in time.

So over the past month, meetings with builders, architects and the insurance company (it turns out a large part of the second floor is tilting - yay) have been coming one after another. This past week, we also received quotes and sketches from two different kitchen design companies that we’re now choosing between.

It’s all very exciting, but since there’s still a lot to be decided when it comes to layout and bigger interior choices, I thought I’d share a glimpse of something that doesn’t require quite as many building permits, but still a lot of thought - the kids’ rooms. The dream visuals from Pinterest:

These are the two rooms I feel I don’t want to compromise on. I’m really excited about creating something truly dreamy for them, and then we can save on other things or the rest of the house interior can take time (which I feel it should). With that said, I think it is sooooo hard to create something that feels age appropriate but at the same time stands the test of time, and even though walls can be re-painted, it would be nice to feel that the rooms still works when they are young teenagers. If you have any thoughts regarding this, please let me know in the comments!

So, to summarize the thoughts we have for the rooms it is; wallpaper (the kids have decided on their own favourites) a few built in details, lots of space to play, door frames and trims painted in an accent color, lots of textiles. Mood boards below to give you an idea.

Lamps we bring with us from our old house and leaning towards a soft wool wall-to-wall carpet in both rooms. It’s so fun to play around with lots of colors and prints like this and for some reason it feels natural for their rooms but scary for the rest of the house. To be continued.

Lovely things in April

• If you haven’t visited the exhibition “Det blommande – Konst & botanik“ at Prins Eugene’s Waldemarsudde yet I highly recommend you do so. So amazingly beautiful and the perfect way to enter spring.

• This past week, working from home, I’ve been savoring a small ritual: a 20-minute pause outside in the sun each afternoon. Coffee in hand, book open, it’s become the loveliest little break - one that leaves me with more energy and even a bit of color on my cheeks. I am right now in the middle of “The Wedding People“ and after the first 30 pages I had both laughed out loud and cried ( miscarriages and dead dad, my biggest triggers) and was fully involved in the wedding week of Lila and Phoebe. Really recommend this book!

  

• We have a small tradition in our home and that is to enter each weekend with bubbles. This one is a favourite and served last Friday outside in the sun was the perfect pairing, gave me a lot of spring feelings!

• Lately, when the sun has been shining more frequently, I’ve been reminded about how good my trusted SPF is. After working with beauty, and especially korean beauty, for many many years, I do call myself a bit of an expert in this field, so naming this SPF as my favourite one says a lot. It goes on so smoothly, doesn’t leave a weird feeling on the skin and works great under makeup as well. If you’ve been looking for a new daily SPF I really recommend you trying this one. If you are looking for protection for your lips, this one is the best!

• With the arrival of spring, I’ve been rethinking my style. For years, it’s been built on ease - denim, elevated basics, neutral tones, pieces that feel comfortable and put-together. It’s worked well, but one morning I realized something was missing: nothing really sparked joy. Everything felt functional but flat. So instead of overhauling my wardrobe, I’m adding small pieces that bring energy and personality, what I’m calling my “happy wardrobe.” Just a few thoughtful additions that make getting dressed feel inspiring again. This April I started with a bag. I usually rotate between a black leather and a brown suede tote, but this spring I wanted something with more life. After falling for (and ruling out) a dream bag from The Row, I found the perfect alternative: a forest green woven leather tote from Dragon Diffusion. It fits everything I need and, more importantly, makes me happy every time I reach for it. Next on my list is tops and tees in other colors than white (note to self: don’t buy a single more knit) that works for the warmer months. I am eyeing this in chocolate, this in baby blue and this dream blouse from Sea New York.

• There’s something about spring that always makes me crave a really hearty salad, something fresh but still satisfying. I often find myself going back to Alexandra Stacey, also known as French Family Food on Instagram, for inspiration. Her recipes have this effortless, comforting feel that I love and this one has become a true spring repeat in our home. I recently saw that she’s about to launch her cookbook, and I immediately marked it as “watch.” I have a feeling it’s going to be one I return to often.

This month I am looking forward to sprinkling out small moments of spring happiness throughout both weeks and weekends even though especially work is hectic at the moment. I feel I need to plan and prepare a little in order for this month not to move in rapid speed and be gone and done in a blink of an eye. I am looking forward to:

• Visiting Ulriksdals Garden this weekend to buy some new plants for outdoors and spring bulbs for indoors.

• We are in the middle of selling our house and with this I feel the need to clean out everything! This month I want to go though every drawer and cabinet, do a full on closet clean out (and making a small list of things to add for the season) donate and sell things we don’t use and just keep items that we love.

• I am planning a Friday date with each of my children this March, something I have been wanting to do ever since I became self employed but haven’t done until now. I am looking forward to visiting Skansen this Friday and next Friday we have the plan to visit the Elsa Beskow exhibition at Thielska Galleriet.

• I’m looking forward to putting up small decorations in the lead-up to Easter. These cute bunnies from Tall Hat Tales seemed easy enough and a perfect activity with my kids.

Recent saves & favourite things

I sporadically buy House & Garden and my decision is mostly based on how the cover looks to be honest. This one for sure caught my interest, their Country Homes/Slow Living issue, and it didn’t disappoint. So many lovely spreads and articles in this one and especially loved the feeling the cover conveyd.

Sotheby’s partnered with interior designer Alyssa Kapito on a curation of contemporary art and I fell deeply in love with this piece below. The artist is American painter Pat Passlof and is estimated to go for 500.000-700.000 USD (!!) .

I was so so happy when I discovered that our Petite Claw Clip was featured in the latest Plaza Kvinna chosen by Amanda Duverell. This truly made my month! Our Petite style is sold out at the moment (returning early April) but our Grande is still in stock.

I’ve been following Australian interior designer Phoebe Nichol for a long time and recently discovered she has also co-founded The Vault, a Sydney based interior studio where they source antiques and design. She recently posted that they had received a new container and I took a screen shot of every story I could find, so much inspiration! If you like Phoebe’s style I really recommend to look at her projects, this is my favourite.

I am on the hunt for a new tote for spring and have my eye on three different ones, please help me decide! All are quite big since I need a bag that I can both travel with but also wear everyday packed with computer, notebook, camera and gym clothes. I have a soft spot for anything personalized so naturally all three have in common that you can add monogram and other details. I am choosing between Call it By Your Name with my children’s name on it, Alex Mill’s with my initials or L.L. Bean with my initials (caught my eye when I saw it pop up in Johanna Bradford’s feed). Which one would you choose?

New favourites at home are the hand wash and lotion from Singular Society in the Neroli scent. They bring me so much joy every time I use them.

I also started sleeping with a silk bonnet about a month ago, and now I’m trying to convince everyone I meet to try one. The impact it has already had on my hair is enormous. I wake up with silky smooth hair, less frizz and less breakage at the back of my head. Try it!

I just read Ella Mills latest Substack on the subject where she wrote about two questions she has received from her therapist to ask herself while being tense or overwhelmed. One of them was; Are there things I could add to make this softer? A powerful reminder to make the most out of each moment and to shift our mindset when things are adding up.

Today I’m writing about “luxury in less,” especially as it relates to my recent weekend getaway. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate this idea more and more. With small children and work filling most of my days, time has become incredibly precious. Because of that, it’s often the smallest details, the simplest experiences and the quiet habits woven into everyday life that feel the most meaningful and “luxurious“. When I think about what luxury truly means to me now, it isn’t excess or extravagance. It’s those few carefully chosen moments that have become the most cherished parts of my life.

• A good night’s sleep, a slightly chill bedroom and my beloved bed sheets from Singular Society.

• Dry brushing everyday, eye patches to my morning coffee, a hand care ritual on my bedside table before going to sleep.

• Having the flexibility to pick my kids up early if needed, planning my own work and schedule.

• Morning or evening stretches/yoga on my wool mat.

• An ordinary Tuesday - music in the background, having a glass of wine and cooking with my husband.

• Taking a walk outside when needing a break, buying myself a coffee, not drinking it in a rush but really savouring the moment.

• Taking my time choosing a new book in the book store, reading each day before sleep.

• Not overplanning our weekends, but instead creating space for rest, spontaneity and unhurried family time.

• Saving all the Substacks I want to read throughout the week in the app, opening the saved folder on a Saturday morning with my own curated weekend read.

The list above may not look like much at first glance, but to me, it’s mindfulness in disguise. These are small moments sprinkled throughout my day that gently invites me to be present, and in the end that becomes the ultimate luxury. They are neither extravagant nor expensive, yet they offer the greatest return. They ground and restore me and quietly equip me to meet the challenges that come my way.

So with that said, let me take you through a recent 24-hour getaway that truly defines luxury in less. A place that gently invites its guests to be present, where the surroundings, thoughtful details and atmosphere come together to create an experience that leaves you feeling nothing but grateful.

Hållfjällets Fjällstation is located 8 km from the village of Ottsjö, near Åre in Sweden. We packed light, filled our thermos with hot coffee and tucked freshly made sandwiches from Fävikens Lanthandel into our backpacks. Then, together with our dog, we began making our way up the mountain on skis.

For me, the journey to and from Hållfjället is a big part of the experience. About halfway there, we stopped for a quick lunch before continuing. As the wind picked up and the trail climbed steadily uphill, it was a welcome relief to crest the final hill and catch sight of our destination.

The first thing that strikes you when entering Hållfjället is its remoteness, but soon you’re impressed by how, despite this, they have created a place that feels like home. We are greeted by the warm and friendly staff (the personal service is truly a key part of the experience) and are then led to our room. The charming bunk beds immediately catch the eye. Though the rooms are compact, every necessity is thoughtfully provided. The beds are warm and soft, a small bathroom sink is tucked in and there is plenty of storage. Materials such as wool, shearling and polished metals create a cozy, refined atmosphere. The star of the show, however, is the view through the small window, where trees, mountains and the lake below unfold like a living painting.

After settling in, we quickly changed and headed for the sauna, taking a brief detour through the kitchen where we were offered a drink to bring along. Everything feels unpretentious yet considerate and luxurious, clearly designed to make guests feel relaxed and at home. When we were warmed through, we showered and changed for drinks before dinner. We then settled in the attic, a space thoughtfully divided into small gathering areas, filled with design classics, beautiful color combinations and varied textures. While being here, I can’t stop taking mental notes of the interior and above all, the ambiance that infuses every corner. The evening unfolds with drinks and snacks, exceptional food by the fireplace and ends with tea and cookies back in the attic, snuggled up under a wool throw.

The next day, as we prepare to leave, we reflect on what has been one of our best stays ever, perhaps the very best. We savor the small but perfect breakfast, lingering until we feel ready and then strap on our skis and head home. It was a truly special experience. In the absence of interruptions, presence itself became the greatest luxury this place had to offer.

This year, I’ve wanted to try a journaling practice, all in the name of finding small, simple routines that help my mind and body feel their best, and this has been the perfect moment to begin. Once a day, morning or night, I answer the prompts/follow the routine below by Bryony Basse (a wonderful follow, if you don’t already). I’ve come to love this small ritual, curling up in bed with my morning coffee or evening tea, taking a quiet moment to myself. For now, I keep everything in my notes app, but I’m on the hunt for a beautiful journal. Any suggestions?

Anyways, for anyone visiting Åre soon here are a few recommendations;

• Fävikens Lanthandel - a lovely place for a simple but delicious breakfast, lunch or fika. Here you can find the most amazing delicacies, locally made crafts and ceramics from the region and much more. Don’t miss their mouth watering ice cream during summer and their hot chocolate now during the winter. I can also confirm their Semlas do not disappoint.

• Åre Glashytta - Over the years I’ve bought many wedding gifts to friends here which is always an appreciated personal one. Åre Glashytta also does the glasses that are used at hotel Ett Hem in Stockholm if you want to treat yourself to a few.

• Perhaps a niche recommendation, but if you have a dog this one is for you! You can find Åredalens Hundsport in Duved, just a few minutes from Åre by car. They have the best leashes, collars and anything you need for year-round activities with your dog.

• This one I haven’t visited myself yet but are planning to do so very soon - Hållfjället . Open for dinner and to stay over the night as well as weekend lunches.

What I am wearing

In minus 20 degrees (yes, really!), it’s all about layering - starting with warm, natural materials like wool and cashmere closest to the skin, then building outward. I’m only interested in cozy, soft fabrics, indoors and outdoors, in styles that let me move in the slopes with the kids and curl up by the fireplace with a book. Nothing tight or uncomfortable.

Skin saviours are a must: my favourite body lotion from Nécessaire has earned a permanent spot both in the bathroom and on my bedside table. For my face, I swear by the Ultra Facial Overnight Mask from Kiehl’s - in winter, when the air is extremely dry, I use it as my night cream every single evening.

Beauty favourites: I was on the fence about Rhode’s Glazing Milk for a long time, which I honestly don’t understand in hindsight. This milky toner soothes, hydrates and protects and has become such a nice step in my layer-on-layer, hydration-focused skincare routine.

Joyful injection: My saved folder is filled to the brim with images and videos from Matthieu Blazy’s couture debut for Chanel , there’s just so much to be inspired by. Such a happy show in many ways - whimsical, vibrant, playful, colorful and fresh. A welcomed escape during a grey winter day.

Food obsession: This fish tacos recipe is so good and I don’t think I will ever get tired of it.

Over the years, the focus has shifted more and more from the products themselves to how they affect my overall wellbeing. Adding that to my list of requirements has made me even more selective. Sometimes, however, I come across a new product, tool, habit or treatment that truly elevates the daily ritual of taking care of my body and mind and then, of course, I have to share it. Here are a few new discoveries that have been so good I simply cannot gatekeep them. Let’s dive in!

1. Facial/Buccal Massage - The other day I had booked a Sculpt & Buccal Facial and when it was finished I honestly cried a bit. I felt glowy and toned but more importantly so relaxed and light in my whole face and body, like it finally woke up. It was also such a holistic approach to massage where I was educated in how the whole body is connected through our nervous and lymphatic system and what positive effects a treatment like this can have long-term. I will for sure book this again soon and I suggest you do too!

2. LED Mask - I was kindly gifted the CurrentBody Led Mask: series 2 and have been using it everyday since. Consistency is key here, but while used often, I see a big difference in tone, glow and firmness. Plus my kids thinks I look like a cool robot when using it which is an additional benefit. 3. Hot Lemon Water - First thing in the morning, before coffee or breakfast. For me this is a gentle way to hydrate and waking up my body, I also feel this aids my digestion positively.

4. Flush Balm - I fell instantly in love with this blush from Merit. Easy to apply, great colors and creamy formula that stays on throughout the day. Everything I’ve tried from Merit so far have become new favourites. The Minimalist, their Signature Lip Liner and their Great Skin Moisturizer are used everyday.

The rules of winter skincare.

Dry skin, dull skin, red skin, itchy skin - winter skin can take many forms and for me it often shows up as a mix of all of the above. As the temperature drops and the air becomes drier, my skin tends to feel more sensitive, less balanced and overall not like itself.

Over the years, I’ve learned that winter skincare isn’t about doing more, but about doing the right things consistently. Small adjustments in products and lifestyle that in the end makes the biggest difference. Here are my three winter skincare rules that work for me.

• Google “Skincare Sandwich” and then create your own recipe. I’ve created my skincare sandwich with moisture in mind, starting with a watery toner, followed by a milky toner and a gel-like essence. I then continue with a rich moisturizer or mask, like this one or this one, and finish with a layer of oil to lock all the moisture in. In the evenings, this is my go-to routine, and on really cold days it’s honestly my morning routine as well. The important thing here is to tailor it to a version that suits you, and to layer the thinnest consistencies first, working your way up to the richer ones. To make it even better, mist your best hydrating spray ( I like this one and this one) between each step.

• Don’t be afraid of oils, butter and balms. To finish off my routine, a thin oil serum helps keep my skin protected. Many people are afraid of these types of products, but in my experience my skin feels much more balanced (I even break out less) when I add an oil to my routine, as it helps support the skin barrier and prevents dehydration - something that can otherwise trigger excess oil production and breakouts. I also love layering a balm or butter, for both face and body, whenever I feel the need to. It’s a simple way to seal everything in and nourish my skin even more.

• Don’t wash my face in the morning. Not exactly groundbreaking, but this year I even stopped swiping a cotton pad with toner over my face in the morning before starting my routine. Now I jump straight into the first toner-layering step, and my skin is able to keep all its moisture and natural oils from the night. I’m seeing a more even skin tone, softer, more balanced skin and overall, my complexion just feels calmer and happier throughout the day.

Cold-weather essentials.

Products that have been part of my routine for years, loved for their hydrating, barrier-strengthening abilities. Don’t forget to layer and seal it all in with a rich cream or oil!

The power of self-love

Valentine’s Day is often about the love we give to others, but it’s just as important - if only for a moment - to reflect on how much love we pour into our own cup. Even when we understand how important that is, it can be hard to actually live it. Since becoming a mother, this is something I reflect on even more. Not only because I want to set a good example for my kids, but because I’m simply a better mother when I feel aligned, nourished and cared for myself.

Taking responsibility for my own growth within this has looked different over the years. Smaller habits have been the anchor: making sure I eat enough and eat well, not skipping meals because I don’t have time; knowing when to say no and when to prioritize rest; appreciating the importance of fresh air and doing things simply because they bring me joy; noticing how much a morning routine positively impacts the rest of my day.

Other, bigger actions have become clearer as I’ve gotten older: leaving a job that, while a dream on paper, no longer aligned with me; surrounding myself with energy givers and cutting out energy drainers; speaking kindly to myself, knowing I am doing the best I can; trusting my gut and where it will lead me. Ultimately, nurturing myself is the quiet, steady practice that helps everything else in life fall into place.

• Saying no earlier.

February routines

This February, I want to keep holding tight to the winter stillness while gently adding a few things that whisper spring is around the corner. My days hopefully either start or end at my fluffy yoga mat for deep breaths and stretches. A much-needed haircut is booked and this time my super curly, frizzy hair will try a de-frizz treatment for the first time - very excited. I’ll make sure to eat as many semlas as possible as well as blood oranges every morning with my greek yoghurt and I will fill our home with tulips, as many as I can find. I like to buy three bunches in the same color at the local supermarket, nothing fancy, and gather them all in one glass vase. Easy and impactful. A trip to Ulriksdals Garden to buy spring bulbs for planting at home is also a must, and while I’m stuck in my down jacket a bit longer, I’ve added this scarf for a pop of color. Speaking of pop of color, Soft Goat just launched their spring collection and this cashmere sweater felt like a much needed vitamin injection. Loved the happy shade of pink!

However, during most of February we are switching scenery and I am looking forward to some weeks spent with my little family away, skiing and working. With our oldest starting school this fall, we’re savoring an extra-long break together. So grateful for the flexibility and opportunity to do so. I’m visualizing days filled with sunshine, coffee and buns from Fävikens Lanthandel in the slopes, ski lessons for the kids while we catch up on work, cozy meals, lots of reading and sauna almost every day.

A gift guide for Valentine’s is of course not a must. Often we only do an extra cozy breakfast for the kids or meet up for a lunch date. This was the whole idea behind Beam Mode in the beginning, to highlight and collect all the small everyday things that makes us beam. Everything from a claw clip, the hero cleanser or a scent that lingers and inspires to a moment of calm and reflection.

To be mindful of these everyday moments and things is also a way for me to take the opportunity to be present, to be grateful for the experience and to reflect on its value. Below follows a short list of things that are just that, small everyday reminders of the present moment, small everyday pockets of joy, beautiful things to rest your eyes on, trusted companions throughout your day.

-My evening ritual with a cup of tea and a little plate of snacks like dark chocolate, dates or nuts, perhaps some fruit like kiwi or blueberries. Serving this to myself while working, reading or watching something is like a sweet dessert each evening, only a little healthier. Can also really recommend to bring something similar with you throughout the workday for an energy boost in the afternoon.

-I recently listened to this poscast episode by Beyond the Mat and loved it so much. A new podcast discovery is also The Progress Girls that I have enjoyed lately.

-Everyday movement. After almost two years off I am back with Form and it is truly the best. Short workouts, long workouts, whatever you choose I can guarantee you will feel the burn the day after.

-Curating the perfect bedside table with seasonal products and books I am currently reading. Right now I have this body lotion for instant moisture where ever needed, this amazing body balm that locks all the moisture in (use it everywhere, hands, dry patches, feet etc) and my favourite lip balm of all time. Add my current read Heart the Lover , an evening scent and new favourite sheets from Singular Society and I can almost guarantee a good night’s sleep.

-Friday fika. Each Friday it is now a tradition that I either bring fika with me when picking up my kids at pre-school or that the whole family gathers for a Friday fika when everyone is home in the afternoon. A small weekly tradition that we look forward to each week and that I hope will be one of those things my children looking back on fondly when they grow up.

-A morning playlist, like this one by Martina, has been a must during weekend mornings. Equally important, something playing in the afternoon and evening, feels inviting and calming and marks the start of relaxation, family time and winding down.

-Investing in warmth such as cashmere blend socks and leggings gives me so much joy every day. I stay warm and cozy and feel so grown-up for prioritizing details like this.

-This week I received the sweet pea seeds I had ordered from Zetas. I chose this one, this one and this third one and can’t wait to start planting them and see them grow. A joy to look forward to!

Recently I looked at a TikTok video with recommendations and the person filming said she wanted to read even more in 2026. In 2025 she had read 82 books and this year she wanted it to be at least 120 (!). I am not that ambitious, if I go through the below plus a few more (perhaps any of your recommendations!) I will be more than happy.

- Two books from the author Lily King are on my bedside table as we speak. Heart the Lover and Writers & Lovers.

- Onyx Storm is a must since I have read the two previous books in the series and was surprised how much I liked them. They are a little spicy yes but so much more than that. Even if you are not typically drawn to fantasy ( I usually am not) I think you should give these a go.

- Very curious to read something by Kristin Hannah and is leaning towards The Great Alone and The Nightingale.

- I got introduced to Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt through TikTok and I felt it was right up my alley. I usually love it when there’s a subtle touch of magic or the unreal in a book, and this one seemed to have just the right amount of it. If you like that as well I can also recommend In Five Years and One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle. A little sad, a little magic and very heartwarming. Great, easy reads.

- Also have The Wish, written by The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, Five-Star Weekend by Elin Hildebrand and You are Here by David Nicholls on my list.

That’s my list so far, but do you think I am missing any good ones? I would be so happy if you could, in the comments, recommend me and everyone else a book or two that you love and that you think we should read this coming year.

Also, I read today that we are not entering the year of the horse until the middle of February. We still have time to reflect, prepare and rest before the energies of 2026 ask us to go full force ahead. I like that, since no full force ahead is in me at the moment.

Usually at this time of the year I feel even more energised and inspired, ready to make plans and start building. The pace is slower this year, however there are still things that have caught my attention, and in today’s Substack I thought I would share them with you. Just a list of lovely things, promises, intentions and habits I feel will do me good.

Right now I am looking forward to:

Eating all the greens and veggies and making a big order from Fresh Land. Right now I am obsessed with kiwis and have it each morning with my granola and greek yoghurt. A few times a week I also make a seed mix ( sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds ) toast them in the pan with some salt and then sprinkle over everything and anything during the week, obsessed! Morning or evening stretch/yoga on my fluffy Casall mat - only doing movement that feel natural and good, not rushing into any workout challenges. Dermapen with @charlottaperla , continuing reading each evening ( I read Iron Flame and Lucy by the Sea during Christmas and though they are very different books I loved them both, Heart the Lover is next on my list), doing a big closet clean out and making a thoughtful curated list of items to add during the year.

Right now I’m inspired by:

Astrology, deep diving in inner growth and what the year ahead means for me. I read somewhere that for my sign, Cancer, 2026 will feel like a big exhale. I am really looking forward to that. I want to be better to add everyday routines and products that give me joy - a new coffee machine, music in the morning, flowers, trying a new recipe, surprising my kids with a cozy fika after pre-school. Small joys sprinkled throughout the week. I’m inspired by people who in the middle of career and life with small kids find time for themselves and their rest, prioritizing balance and enjoying life. Two women I love following on social media and that inspires me a lot in these regards are Megan Strachan (the coolest!) and Ella Mills. This year I am planning to protect my peace like my life depends on it and I am inspired to incorporate a few new practices in my daily routine such as meditation and journaling. Also very inspired by anything interior related and dreaming of moving, renovating and changing. Hopefully that will be in the cards for us 2026.

Right now on my wishlist:

When I first became a mother I followed an influencer who said that “No your child doesn’t need another cute outfit, however YOU my friend need new underwear.” This applies to me today and I can’t wait to throw everything out and start over, really curious to try underwear from SKIMS. My friend Martina introduced me to the brand Laura Vann and now I can’t stop thinking about these earrings that I feel would add the perfect touch of sparkle and vintage feel to any outfit. Something that has been on my wishlist but that I just bought is the perfect cream v-neck cashmere sweater from the Massimo Dutti’s sale that I think I will get great use from. I am also planning to update the basics with more t-shirts from Flore Flore (the best, size up one size), sweet peas for the upcoming summer season and finally adding these wall scones from Svenskt Tenn to our hallway.

Wishing you all a slow and relaxing start of the week and that you ease into the new year. Today the sun is shining in Stockholm so after a little morning to-do’s we will head out for a long walk, can’t wait!

Last year, that process led me to leave the job I had for six years, start a new business, follow a long-held dream and commit to working smarter without pushing myself past that infamous edge. It became a year of slowing down, turning inward, and focusing on the small family that is mine.

After my kids were born and life shifted into a hectic rhythm of drop-offs, work, and general busyness, I began to feel that time was moving forward - fast - while I wasn’t fully steering what filled my days. I was just along for the ride. This simple practice of reflecting and setting intentions has helped me reclaim a sense of “control” (even though we all know life can’t truly be controlled). It reminds me that the weeks, months, and years aren’t just passing by - I’m filling them with moments, routines, and projects that bring me joy and move me, step by step, toward my goals and ambitions.

My biggest challenges are perfectionism and screen time. If I didn’t work with social media, I’d probably have one of those old flip phones. I’d love to spend more time offline, in the real world. Still, I’m grateful for the freedom that comes with working digitally - but I think most of us would benefit from limiting scrolling.

What do you think we should welcome into our lives in 2026?

More time in nature, crafting, cooking, writing, deep conversations, being present with people. Exploring - both the outer and inner world. Daring to show more of yourself. Learning new things. Taking leaps of faith. Following that crazy dream. Trusting your gut before it makes sense. Saying no to what’s not aligned. Quitting the job that drains you.

When setting intentions for the year ahead, are there any key questions we should have in mind?

The key questions depend on what you truly want. When setting goals, ask yourself: Do these goals represent what I actually want — or what I believe I’m expected to want?

Any self-care rituals you have loved?

Dry brushing and red light therapy.

Dry brushing first thing in the morning helps activate the lymphatic system, enhances your radiance, and boosts your energy. And if you live in the Nordic countries, red light therapy is a must for supporting your health, energy levels, and overall wellbeing. Two holy rituals that truly saved me last winter.

What do you think all of us should leave behind in 2025?

The fear of rejection — because it so often dims our most radiant light. I’ve learned that you can’t truly be rejected as long as you’re holding yourself. No one is for everyone, but when you show up as your full self, your people will always find you.

What do you think we should welcome into our lives in 2026?

Choosing ourselves as an act of love. When we listen to our hearts in every situation — big or small — and honor our needs, we begin to fall deeper and deeper in love with ourselves.

What areas of my life truly light me up and make me feel happy, safe, and grounded? How can I bring more of these into my life in meaningful ways?

This early December, take a moment for yourself and decide on the vibe you want to carry into 2026. Big shifts might happen, or perhaps smaller, quieter changes. Whatever they look like, make sure you’re in the driver’s seat of your life - living it in a way that feels true to you.

As the days turn darker and colder, creating warmth at home becomes everything. This month, it’s all about cozy rituals, soft layers, and setting the mood.

~ The evening reset. Warm shower, skincare, body lotion and a quick gua sha session before changing into something soft and comforting. I’m loyal to my @uggs (though @tekla’s shearling slippers are tempting), and layering up in flannel pants and a cashmere knit is non-negotiable.

~ Home vibes. Candles lit, slow jazz on, and a spritz of By The Fire by @kodo.london (launching soon at beammode.se) – spicy, warm, and inviting. It instantly transforms any space.

Other little luxuries that warm you up!

~ Layers of texture: wool, shearling, throws, pillows.
~ A signature seasonal tea. Enjoy each evening as a small ritual after dinner.
~ Winter-ready bedding. I’m upgrading with a down topper from @singularsociety , can’t think of anything more luxurious and cozy!

A little while back, I found myself in London for a quick trip - and had one full day to follow my dream itinerary. Come along, and maybe save a few spots for your own next visit to the city.

The day started in Chelsea, staying at At Sloane, a small, almost-hidden hotel owned by the same people behind Hotel Costes. It has that perfect mix of moody interiors, cozy rooms and really thoughtful service - which, honestly, is what matters most to me.

I grabbed a takeaway coffee from Buns from Home, just around the corner, and enjoyed a quiet little morning in bed before heading to breakfast at Granger & Co. A classic - and always hits the spot.

With coffee number two (okay, maybe three) in hand, it was time for a bit of interior design wandering. First up: Rose Uniacke. Honestly? Breathtaking. Make sure you visit all three showrooms located close to each other. Then I popped into Matilda Goad, had another quick coffee at Hagen, and wandered through Plain English before finishing at Soho Home. If you’re into interiors, this stretch is pure inspiration. If you want to visit a few more stores in the area, I really recommend Smythson and Diptyque as well as children’s clothing stores Trotters, Amaia and Caramel. Perfect for gifts!

Next stop: Liberty. I went straight to the beauty department and picked up a few things from Jones Road I’ve had my eye on - and of course I couldn’t resist a quick peek at their Christmas department where we bought the annual ornaments for the kids. If you’re in the mood for more beauty browsing, Space NK is just around the corner and totally worth a visit. They’ve got brands like Naturium, Phlur, Emma Lewisham, and so many others that are way more fun to see in person than online.

Lunch was at the bar at Cecconi’s in Mayfair - a great pasta and a glass of wine and fun people watching.

After lunch, we walked over to the V&A museum for the Cartier exhibition. Such a good one! It was so interesting to read about the brand’s history and see all the incredible pieces - especially the room full of tiaras. If you’re thinking about visiting before it closes, I’d definitely say go for it.

The afternoon wrapped up with a late booking at the Sarah Chapman clinic in Chelsea for a 45-minute facial focused on massage. I’ve never had a facial like that in Sweden - there were moments I genuinely wondered if she was trying to slap my face but I later understood it was all part of the sculpting technique. The post-facial glow was unreal.

From there, a cozy pre-dinner drink outside at Colbert, then dinner back at our hotel. If you’re on the hunt for a romantic spot for a date night in London, this one’s worth a visit.

Full, happy, and very ready for bed - the best kind of ending to a perfect day. Night night!
