BSV: Hey Giuseppe, I hope you're having a good day.
HOOKERMUSICMAN: Hi, yes, great, thanks! It’s a beautiful sunny day where I live.

BSV: Thanks for this fantastic mixtape! Not many people are keeping disco music alive these days. Do you agree with this observation?
HOOKERMUSICMAN: Techno has definitely been thriving for a few years now, but there are many artists exploring interesting sounds in disco, funk, and house. In fact, there are some great productions out there. Long live music!

BSV: Your stage name definitely stands out. What’s the story behind it?
HOOKERMUSICMAN: It’s not easy to explain. It all started with a TV show that aired in Italy in the early 90's called TJ Hooker. So when I decided to become a DJ, I called myself DJ Hooker without realizing that “hooker” traditionally means a prostitute. Over the years, I tried to adapt it, and it eventually became Hookermusicman. Anyway, the name.

BSV: When we listen to “Sunset Space”, there’s an atmosphere that reminds us of Fatima Yamaha - Love Invaders. Do you let yourself be guided naturally in the studio, or do you sometimes aim for a specific atmosphere on purpose?
HOOKERMUSICMAN: Thanks for the observation. I usually lock myself in the studio and start by working on the sounds I’d like to use. Then, like a puzzle, I fit in the missing pieces. I don’t have a specific technique. I just let myself be carried away by the sensations.

BSV: We’ve released on the same label. Do you feel a sort of “special connection” with the Deep Clicks label?
HOOKERMUSICMAN: I really like Deep Clicks as a label. They release a lot of high-quality music, and I feel that my tracks fit well with their style.

BSV: How was this mix recorded?
HOOKERMUSICMAN: Simple - two CD players, a mixer, and a lot of passion.

BSV: Share with us a track you’ve been listening to a lot lately.
HOOKERMUSICMAN: I’ve been listening to Thundercat a lot lately. His music is very original.

BSV: Hello Vid! How are you today? Any music in the schedule?
ESTRAY: Hello, I am good, thanks. I have EP coming out on vinyl in May for Alt Dub Records, + EP coming out in April for Brosh Records (digital).

BSV: We didn’t want to send you questions on a Sunday, we assumed you wouldn’t want to be woken up… Just kidding. What’s the story behind these two tracks that are at the top of your best-selling list? Were they influenced by the local market?
ESTRAY: I did these tracks with the same approach as I did any of my other tracks, it just turned out that they went viral on the local market, because the samples are very catchy for Balkan area, which is great, but I don't want to be recognized only through these YU tracks, I exist as a producer for almost 20 years now, I have more than 100 releases so far in my discography under different artist names, it's a little bit sad that I needed to make these edits to become recognized in the region. This is an invitation to everyone to check out my whole discography, thank you :D

BSV: We caught your NYE set while you were warming up for Rex The Dog. How was that experience?
ESTRAY: -

BSV: Looking back, for how many percent your music production knowledge improve after graduating from SAE?
ESTRAY: Maybe 2-5% hahah, honestly, I finished that school because of the pressure from my parents. I think it's better to invest that money in the analog studio gear and instruments. ✨🙏🏻

BSV: As a label owner, do you handle promotion by yourself or you rather work with professionals?
ESTRAY: I handle promotion by myself, with help from friends, but I'm not as active as before. I want to limit the number of releases per year on Wanderlust and to keep quality over quantity. I also plan to release vinyl in the future, maybe I will open a sub-label, I will see... I'm a little bit tired of being a publisher to be honest. At the moment I just want to focus on my artist & DJ career. :)

BSV: Is there anything that makes the Serbian electronic music scene specific, in your opinion?
ESTRAY: Hmm, lots of wrong people in the scene at the moment, from managers to performers, I don't have a good opinion about the Serbian electronic music scene at all. Real talents are rare, and they all want to run away from Serbia to Berlin or Barcelona.

BSV: While in Ibiza, what’s the first thing on your to-do list?
ESTRAY: To take a ferry to Barcelona, haha. I hate Ibiza. I think it's the worst island in Europe. Never gonna go back there again :) Small fees, wrong people, bad music, bad DJ's, bad management of venues, bad crowd.

Hailing from the Serbian electronic scene, Lost Document is a DJ and producer known for carving a niche within the deeper, more atmospheric side of house and techno. Lost Document has gained recognition through performances at local clubs, bars, local and major festivals like EXIT Festival, specifically appearing on the renowned Urban Bug Stage.

With over a hundred releases to his name, Resilient is not just an artist, he’s a storyteller through the rhythm. Bold synths, incredibly characterful vocals, groovy bass lines… It’s the kind of music that makes you close your eyes in the middle of a crowd and remember something you didn’t know you’d forgotten. He is a label founder - a person behind the idea.

Nicolo aka Don Vito (IT) is a talented Milano based producer and DJ. Originally from the Lake Como area, he is joining us in Belgrade to celebrate the release of his debut single on the label. Known for his distinctive minimal sound, he brings his unique groove and refined selections to the dancefloor.

Karl Kobs (DE) is part of the German based duo SAL. Founded in 2014, his partner Max Horn and he played a variety of clubs in Germany, with regular appearances at Sisyphos’ Wintergarten since 2015. Together with Joe Davies he runs a party at infamous Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg since 2024, where they invite deep house affiliates like Dana Ruh, Barbara Preisinger and Soela.

Faetd is an electronic music project started in late 2023 by Filip, built on over 10 years of experience in music production. Influenced by electro, tech house, and electronic music in general, the project focuses on combining different styles into a sound that is not limited to one specific genre. Faetd is currently working on a debut mini Album/EP.

BSV: Hello, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Could you introduce yourself to our audience? Who is the person and story behind your artist name?
TIDUS: Hey, glad to be a part of this journey and to give my contribution to your session series. My name is David, originally from Berlin but now based in Bern, Switzerland. I started DJ-ing around 2017. A few years later, I started to produce my own music as well. Just DJ-ing wasn’t enough for me, and I wanted to take the next step in my DJ career.

BSV: Thanks for submitting this energetic recording. Is this intensive drive a constant in your work?
TIDUS: Yes indeed, it’s the style I like to play. I always create my DJ sets around multiple genres. Usually, I play melodic techno and progressive house. However, the DJ collective I'm part of has lots of events, and they started to embrace more peak-time and hypnotic techno. Lately, I play a lot of peak-time techno as well. You can definitely hear the shift in my DJ sets.

BSV: Between New York and Berlin, which city left a deeper imprint on your sound?
TIDUS: It was definitely Berlin. The time I was in New York was great, and they have a strong, deep/underground scene, but it never reached the heights of Berlin. Berlin just has something unique that you can only find there. That is why it is so popular around the world.

BSV: Looking back on your journey so far, who has been your strongest source of support?
TIDUS: I think the strongest support comes from my wife. You know, the music scene can be frustrating. Especially nowadays, where clicks and followers mean more than having or creating good quality music. Sometimes I feel like I want to quit. My wife always supports me to keep going.

BSV: When you start a new track, which element comes first in your DAW?
TIDUS: The following order ---> drums, vocals, bass, pads, leads, FX sounds... I got used to this order of production. I always experience frustration through the track, but in the end, I reach the finishing line.

BSV: If you had to present your musical essence with a single original track, which one would carry that promo?
TIDUS: I would go with "The Ascent". I made this track as a motivation for my holiday in the Himalayas, and this track really represents what I love. Emotional Synths and melodies, but it still has a nice danceable groove to it. I still catch myself listening to it and thinking "damn, that's a really good track".

BSV: Switzerland is famous for clubs with extraordinary taste in electronic music. Could you tell us a bit more about the local scene?
TIDUS: The scene here is definitely different in comparison to my time in Berlin. Not as hippy and more posh, especially in Zurich. It's a good variety between house, melodic techno, deep tech and hard techno. There is something for everyone. I'm located around Bern. It's not too bad but it can't follow what Zurich has to offer. The mountain parties during summer are awesome. Just imagine dancing to nice beats and seeing snow-capped mountains. It's really nice.

BSV: Hello Darko! Are you a robot? :)
STILL HUMAN: You might be surprised, but… I’m Still Human 🙂

BSV: Our first contact was while remixing your “Aldera” track with “Dark Ray” as your previous artist name. People still tell me that that is my best work till now. Are you proud of that fact?
STILL HUMAN: It was a really interesting collaboration. And yes, if you’re proud of it, then I’m proud of it too 🙂

BSV: What was your motivation to change your alias, and how many of them did you have before, including Darko Malčević as a composer sign?
STILL HUMAN: For me, this is a new space and a new beginning, so it naturally needed a new project. I don’t see Still Human as a personal alias, but as a project under which I’ll release new music and eventually perform as a DJ when opportunities arise. So far, I’ve had three aliases, mostly connected to specific genres or collaborations. I’ve always struggled with being tied to just one style or genre . . . I’ve moved through techno, breakbeat, progressive house, deep house, and now I feel most connected to groove-driven, danceable tech house.

BSV: We really appreciate your mixtape. It gives some kind of an old school vibe with a spread of a manic atmosphere. How was this mix recorded, since we had to gain it for 12 dB in the master channel?
STILL HUMAN: The mixtape was recorded on a Denon Prime Go+, directly to an SD card. Later I loaded it into Ableton just to cut it down to 60 minutes, because the original version was longer. What I didn’t realize at the time is that I had a default -12 dB gain plugin on the audio channel in Ableton for gain staging. So that’s where the level drop came from. I only noticed it afterwards 🙂 As for the vibe . . . for me it doesn’t feel old school, it feels more like groovy, dance-oriented house and tech house. It’s a new territory for me, not nostalgia.

BSV: If we listen to your tracks, the sound is clear. Experience talks through it. Quality also. Do you have formal education when it comes to music?
STILL HUMAN: Not formally. I’m mostly self-taught. I did attend piano lessons in elementary school and played trumpet for 13 years in a brass orchestra, so I gained a solid foundation in music theory there. When it comes to production, you’re right . . . Experience plays the biggest role. I’ve been working in music production for more than 20 years, and that time in the studio teaches you more than any course.

BSV: We noticed that you took a break for some years, so we consider this episode your big comeback. Do you think that it is important for a producer to step away from music from time to time to be more creative?
STILL HUMAN: I can only speak for myself. I didn’t step away from music completely. I stepped away from club and electronic music. Over the last six years, I’ve been very active in composing and producing music for TV and video productions. I went through some difficult personal periods and felt the need to step back from the club scene. At the same time, I became deeply interested in exploring other TV genres like crime, dramedy, lo-fi, hip-hop, funk, corporate music and cinematic styles. I worked a lot with vocalists and recently finished a Feel Good Pop / EDM album with 10 tracks in collaboration with various artists. So yes, for me, it was a very important and valuable phase. You could call this a comeback, but how big it will be, we’ll see 🙂

BSV: Is there any AI tool that you are already using in your production, or are you planning to use one? You just gonna stick to 100% natural flow?
STILL HUMAN: Yes, I already use AI tools and I’ve been following their development from the beginning. They simply speed up and simplify the workflow, whether it’s for writing, text-to-speech vocals, or using plugins like Smart EQ or iZotope Ozone for mastering. For me, AI is a tool, not a replacement for creativity. It helps with the technical side, but the feeling, taste, decisions and direction still have to come from a human. That idea is exactly where the name of the project STILL HUMAN was born.

BSV: Hello Nikolo! How are you? How is your day going so far?

BSV: Can you tell us a little bit about your music passion? How did it start, or better to ask when?
DON VITO: Since I was very young, my mother used to play a lot of stereo tapes, also at night. I can say the stereo was always on 😂

BSV: What’s the story behind your “Parallel Universe” release with Beat Sound Visions?
DON VITO: A Parallel universe would be my expression of real minimal style, where the definition of spaces and dimensions takes place in a deep and trippy texture. I wanted to catch the experimental side and depth in a contrast of dry drums on a wet, spacey texture.

BSV: So, you have been producing since 9 years old? Enough time to become your own mastering guy, right? 😂
DON VITO: I guess practice makes it always better. It's about what u want to follow.

BSV: Cover art - BSV43, is that picture from some kind of a toilet? 🙂
DON VITO: That's right. I had the cover idea to keep the bridge with underground culture. What's better than a wall-painted toilet of an underground disco?

BSV: Do you have some more tracks and covers in the pipeline?
DON VITO: New music soon.

BSV: Your music is made with everything in MIDI, without any audio samples. Are you gonna follow that path in the future?
DON VITO: I think that creativity comes through different ways, but anyway, I try to make my sound as unique as possible.

BSV: Is there a connection between your inexhaustible inspiration and the beautiful seascapes of Ulcinj?
LERR: There is, it’s my main source of inspiration! I’m born and raised by the sea, so I’m still to this day in love with the sea. The calmness it gives, I love it!

BSV: We almost met in live @ D9vet Festival back in the days. What’s your perspective on it from this point? As I can remember, you had a different artist name…
LERR: Yes, back in the day I had a different alias. It was more about downtempo and “spiritual” music, but I guess we all change and evolve which is a natural thing :)

BSV: Your two-track EP Rising Skies for the Sound Avenue label is going very well currently in the organic house charts. What’s your story about this release?
LERR: The EP channels a unique energy between its two tracks, moving from introspection to momentum. Built on personal expression, it delivers an authentic sound that shows who I am as an artist.

BSV: If you could choose one gig from the past that holds a special place in your heart, which performance would that be?
LERR: Ooff, this is a difficult one, there are so many great memories. It would probably be the time I played at Sisyphos in Berlin, which was on another level of experience. But also I loved the time in Macedonia at ‘’Piknik u Pelince’‘ event, it was an open air, summer, woods, and amazing energy. Just to name a few..

BSV: What’s your favorite VST currently, and do you have some exciting news about your upcoming projects?
LERR: Hmmm let’s say last 2-3 years I’m using the same ones, I believe it’s better to master a couple. That would be almost every plugin from Arturia, Diva, Hive and also Dune3 is super cool! About projects, I have a lot of unreleased stuff that is gonna be released on various labels. I can’t wait to share it all!!! :)
