These are decks with cards that likely we never ever see again, at least in a similar form. If we do, I think they would be drastically different. They wouldn’t be in full decks like this, but maybe just like special inserts or something in a Universes Beyond set. This isn’t a long-term play for me regardless, as the supply is a big reason I am picking these, so I can look at a selloff into quarter 4/holiday spending. Let me show you the decks I am grabbing.

Is Hobbit out selling other Magic: The Gathering sets leading up to release?

$350,000 = 6 days of Hobbit sales ~ 1 week out prior to release day :GCheck:

$364,000 = 6 days of Secrets of Strixhaven ~ 1 week out prior to release :GCheck:

$200,000 = 6 days of Spider-man sales ~1 week out prior to release :GCheck:

^ These are the total $ monies spent on TCGPlayer a week prior to release day.

A few things. Spider-Man was a “falling knife” at that point in time. Dropping from nearly $900 + to under $600 in like 10 days. That figure is based on sales near that $600 range. Strixhaven had a LOT of volume at the $550s mark. More volume and Hobbit for sure, but with the Hobbits nearly $300 price overage, it brings up Hobbits total $ volume. IF Hobbit drops $300 I would bet the volume would surpass Strixhaven. My opinion.

Will continue to watch, but Hobbit has seen a ~ $50 price increase since prerelease started Friday up to today. I think it doesn’t get in the $500s like all the idiot YouTubers that have bias from history. They are blind to the shift the last ~ year from brand new players + the $ coming in because they have been around too long to be honest.

ALSO there is an incredible number out there regarding the total amount of money spent on TCG Player on MTG Collector Boosters in total the last 30 days. That number is around $2.2 million. This is SO LOW compared to Pokemon spending in my opinion. I did not come up with this number/run Claude on it. I heard it from this smaller channel

and he has the EXACT same theory that I have: NEW PLAYERS are causing the increase in MTG prices. Doesn’t take some1 super smart to come up with that idea to be honest. You just have to have paid some attention the last year, year and half, and also asked around. I have asked my friends, the people at the coffee shop, at my bread store, NFL players, etc. if they play magic/know people that play magic. All of them have said they knew at least 1 person OR they themselves played (the bread store I go to literally 5+ guys that work there all play the game).

This liquidity suck from Hobbit + Pokémon 30th gives us time to buy basically all of our MTG stuff for the next few weeks at very similar or possibly even lower prices. I am STILL picking up stuff from my posts as prices stay steady/throwing out lower offers as people want $ for Hobbit or Poke 30th. Hobbit is bigger than most people think & I believe all the new MTG players/investors/collectors from the past year all want Hobbit so bad. It is a smaller set, so it will have less produced. That being said , these Secret Lairs

If you haven’t noticed, I love buying products that relate/are similar products we have done well on in the past. Most of the vinyl that we buy are based on an artists previous sales, same album sales, similar variants, similar production numbers etc. How many times have we bought Pierce the Veil and 2x+ on them in less than a year? Same with Panchiko. Same with Over the Garden Wall (get ready for October!). Legos same thing, loosely just based on IP & minifigs. Groundhogs day 100%.

This is going to be a quick one. There really isn’t much to this because it is a play similar to my LotR, especially when I “doubled down”. I am NOT much for buying/focusing much on anything other than “Collector” boxes so pretty much ~ 90-95% of my purchases are Collector Booster Displays. Not going to change my method here either.

Final Fantasy x Secret Lair Bonus cards: Summon cards

We have 5 “rare” Bonus cards from the Final Fantasy Secret Lair. Prices yet again like we saw on other rare Bonus Cards have seen a sizeable increase the last few weeks. Like MOST singles I am posting about that are $500+ I am tracking them actively, watching sales, listings, etc. and then purchasing once I can get a “deal”. Throwing out offers, messaging people, etc. If I can get ~ 5-15% below recent sales, that is a win, especially if the market has gone up ~5-15% the last month or 2, I want to be back to a better average sale price, not the recent top.

First, Anima & Ifirit are banned from some versions of play (I don’t really know why). That is also why Yojimbo which is “Solitude” reskinned and Shiva which is “Subtlety” are my main targets here. Saying this, I think Ifirit is a sick ass card and I am almost positive I remember this f**ck from FF7 when I was ~ 10 years old. These cards are basically never going to be printed again, likely, at least with this kind of rarity. This is a big reason I love these Secret Lair Bonus cards. If you are a MTG collector I’d start watching all of the Bonus Cards, but these in particular being apart of FF, if MTG is going to keep on this run of increasing player-base, these will be amazing.

My personal plan with regards to these FF Bonus Cards. My goal is to buy just 1 or 2 of these. Likely going to go with Shiva and then Ifirit. I like the art of them the most. They are so expensive already, & I am looking at buying another Hobbit Collector Case over the next couple of weeks, so buying all 5 of these isn’t something I want to do. At least right now. I really think Hobbit is going to be massive as it is the first BIG set since FF & we have a lot of newer players that want their first taste of this kind of set. I believe the ripping of Hobbit Collectors is going to be INSANE! I have to do it myself & I fully believe this sentiment is shared my many.
