When the ancient Greeks looked up to the sky, they saw some lights (stars) appeared fixed, while other lights (planets) moved erratically. They couldn’t understand why. From their vantage point, Mars would stop, reverse, loop backward, and then resume. Planets were bewildering, called “wanderers”.

To Greek physicians, the womb was also perplexing. They taught that the womb moved freely, a restless wanderer inside the body.

They looked up at the sky, and at a woman, and concluded the same thing: they are erratic and wandering.

To resolve this planetary madness, astronomers spent 1,400 years trying to understand. They used complicated models, overlaying circles onto circles (epicycles).

Then, Copernicus and Kepler figured it out.

Two insights solved over 1,400 years of bad explanations. It turns out the observed was not fixed, and the orbits were ellipses, not perfect circles.

Our bewilderment about female health only means it is yet to be understood. There’s a reframe waiting to happen.

In the fifth century BCE, Polykleitos sculpted the male body as a system of ideal mathematical proportion. Setting the historical trajectory for the “ideal” body. This passed through Vitruvius and then was immortalized by Da Vinci.

This is how the default template of the human body was established.

The male body was chosen because it held still, not because it was superior. It lacked the cyclical, “erratic”, misunderstood shifts of the female body.

Perhaps it’s time for another reframe.

In the next 90 days, Kate will become the most measured female in history. Three of her menstrual cycles (orbits) will be meticulously tracked.

> 1,900 biomarkers tracked
> 14.8 million data points
> 100 tasks a day
> 6-10 hours a day
> 50+ devices
> brain, taste, smell, and more
> 3 menstrual cycles

The effort will reveal new insight into female health, though that’s not really the primary objective here.

Kate is trying to become legible.

First to herself, and then to others.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" It was omnipresent on social media and 1,900 articles were written in a matter of days.

Many were saddened.

However, joy dominated the commentary.

People pointed to schadenfreude, the pleasure of another's failure. Yes, there’s that. There is a special place in people’s hearts that loves to see others fail, especially when that person’s presence threatens their own psychological stability in some way or helps them feel better about themselves.

But, if you look over the social media commentary about me, you’ll see that pattern:

“he deserved it.”

I deserved it because I challenged death. The crowd was running a deeply rooted psychological script that represents the oldest, most deeply embedded stories of human culture.

This was the first story ever written down, 4,000 years ago. Gilgamesh sought eternal life after losing someone he loved, only to have the plant of youth stolen by a serpent as he bathed. Leaving him to accept his mortality.

Asclepius became so skilled at rejuvenation that he raised the dead. As punishment, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt to enforce life and death authority.

This is the story of Jesus. Pontius Pilate offered a choice between a thief and the immortalist, and the crowd demanded the execution.

People need this story conclusion to keep themselves sane. The challenger must lose and the loss must appear deserved. It’s a shield of self preservation.

For if death is inevitable, their existence and that of their loved ones is justified and unavoidable. If death is not inevitable, nothing about their reality is safe.

I occupy the same philosophical and archetypal position as Gilgamesh, Asclepius and Jesus.

This statement will draw outrage and accusations of blasphemy, hubris and narcissism. Nevertheless, it’s the pattern that has repeated itself for thousands of years.

Death has been the omnipresent concern of the human race. It encapsulates our greatest fears, joy and curiosities. The discourse around it changes over time; however, the fundamentals remain unchanged.

What’s different about this moment, that is unlike any other moment, is that physical death may no longer be inevitable.

What if I didn’t deserve it?

And what if I am your ally, and not a threat?

Thanks for reading! Endo is notoriously challenging to diagnose.

It’s one of the most gnarly diseases and affects 15% of women.

Men, to get you on the same page, having endo is akin to an alien growing in your guts and balls, self replicating, and glueing everything together. Causing you constant pain and discomfort.

We got to work.

> got an MRI
> got a transvaginal ultrasound
> both results came back negative

At this point, Kate’s patient journey had followed the archetype precisely. Most women don’t get diagnosed for 7-10 years. For Kate, it’s been 7 years. And, like most women, her imaging came back clear even though now we know that she has endo.

This is why diagnosis has traditionally happened via surgery. There has been no other way than to open her up and look inside.

We wanted to avoid surgery so we went back to the drawing board. We searched the world over.

On our second go, we did:

> endo-specific ultrasound
> an endo blood test
> AI MRI
> saliva test

This was successful.

We were able to confirm her endo via ultrasound, blood test, and MRI. That’s intimidating especially when the path to diagnosis is fraught with so many challenges.

Phase I was getting a diagnosis.

Phase II is curing endometriosis. We’ve already started working.

If you’re a female with suspected endo, here’s what you can do to accelerate your diagnosis.

—

Endo-Specific Ultrasound

You want an endo-specific ultrasound. As we saw with Kate, a standard pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound failed to identify her endo.

You want the ultrasound to be performed by a physician or sonographer specifically trained. They follow a special protocol to hunt for endometriosis by mapping the ovaries and uterus, and testing whether organs can slide freely, or are tethered by endometriosis lesions.

It’s best timed just after ovulation, when a small amount of peritoneal fluid aids visualization.

It can detect superficial endometriosis, lesions, and adenomyosis that general imaging misses.

We went to Dr. Kacey Hamilton at Cedar Sinai.

2. AI MRI / MatricesAI

Radiologists miss lesions in up to 60% of cases. We worked with Matrices which leverages AI and a unique dataset to detect endometriosis lesions on pelvic MRI. Blood test / HerResolve

Kate had two small tubes of blood drawn for a test built by HerAnova Lifesciences Inc. The test measures seven biological markers (three microRNAs, three proteins, and one hormone) and uses an AI model to help detect endo.

It was highly accurate in its validation study at confirming endo and caught most cases that ultrasound and MRI had missed.

Their technology has been validated in a peer reviewed study (298 women, 11 sites across US/Europe/Hong Kong, published in the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology): specificity 97.5%, sensitivity 80%, with strong diagnostic performance (94.4%), demonstrating it was highly effective at distinguishing women with endometriosis from those without the disease.

A positive result is a strong signal, since only 2.5% of women without endometriosis test positive, though final confirmation is still clinical. A negative is less conclusive, because the test misses about 20% of true cases.

The test identified 61.5% of histologically confirmed cases that transvaginal ultrasound and/or MRI missed.

#

We did one more saliva based test and will report back on that when results are returned.

Thanks for reading! We found it by taking a tissue biopsy of my stomach. My immune cells are confused, causing my stomach to eat itself.

AIG stops your body from absorbing nutrients like iron and B12, and can eventually lead to cancer. It likely started decades ago when I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when 21 years old. The thyroid and stomach are closely linked in your immune system.

I feel fortunate that I’ve been taking such good care of my body for the past five years as my condition would otherwise be much more severe. Millions of people are affected by this disease and are undiagnosed.

Standard of care tells you that you can’t do anything about it. That’s old fashioned.

Here is how we are going to try and cure it:

Step 0: find and diagnose the disease ✅

AIG is rarely caught early because symptoms are subtle. Early warnings are low iron and B12, but when hemoglobin and hematocrit look normal, doctors routinely miss it because there are no obvious signs of anemia.

A standard colonoscopy won’t find it either, because it only checks the lower digestive tract, not the stomach. It was only through a highly targeted stomach biopsy that we found it. Even biopsies can miss it if they don’t sample the exact right spots. Most people with AIG go undiagnosed.

Step 1: Map my immune system ✅

Last Thursday, I had a blood draw to isolate and decode 1 million of my immune cells. Think of your immune cells as trillions of soldiers. Each carries a unique key designed to unlock and destroy a specific threat, like a virus or bacteria.

A standard blood test allows you to see how many soldiers you have, but not their keys. Sequencing one million individual immune cells allows us to read the exact pattern of the teeth on every single key.

This is important for my autoimmune gastritis (AIG) because a specific platoon of rogue soldiers has developed keys that unlock an attack on my stomach lining.

Right now, we don’t know who they are. This test will inform us of which soldiers have gone rogue and are attacking me from within.

Once we know the soldier and key, we know what therapy path to pursue to shut them down.

Step 2: Catch the rogue soldiers

I will be getting a second biopsy from my stomach because we need to collect live tissue. We are currently planning out the logistics of getting the sample from my stomach to the lab.

We need these live cells because the initial blood tests showed the antibodies, which prove that an attack is happening, but doesn’t show us the actual rogue soldier doing the damage which is a T-cell.

The live sample will allow us to match the immune system mapping we did to the live T-cells.

Step 3: Build an early warning system

To keep an eye on the disease as we work towards a therapy, we’re building an early warning system. I’ll have my blood drawn every two weeks and we’ll pair that information with wearable data to look for flare ups. This is important because the attack happens without producing symptoms that I can easily feel.

Step 4: Create a “Bryan in a dish” testing model, a miniature of my immune system

At the same time, we are taking a massive sample of my immune cells and deep freezing them (cryopreservation) for two reasons:

a) we’ll create a living lab: using these cells to replicate my immune environment in a lab dish. This allows us to test experimental drugs and therapies on my actual live cells before putting them into my body.

b) it creates a back up plan for me by preserving the raw cellular material needed for targeted rejuvenation therapies in the future.

Step 5: Build precision guided therapies to end the attack

Once we know who the rogue soldiers are, we will engineer a therapy designed uniquely for them. The trick is only turning off the rogue soldiers while leaving all the other healthy ones functioning as they are.

For safety checks, we’ll do two test runs:

1) we’ll run the therapy through a computer model that has my biology to evaluate how my molecules interact.

2) We will take my actual cells that we froze in Step 4 and watch them interact for real.

If both are successful, we’ll pursue one of four therapies:

a) fix the mistake my cells are making, restoring my immune system’s natural off switches

b) teach the rogue cells to tolerate my stomach instead of attacking it

c) design smart molecules that physically plug into the rogue cells and turn them off

d) build soldiers who will track down and eliminate the rogue soldiers causing the damage

Thanks for reading! That I’m so busy trying to not die that I’ve forgotten to live.

The psychology powering this sentiment is the most interesting phenomenon happening on earth right now.

Every individual constructs a persona, a character to present to the world. It’s a compromise between what they are and what society demands of them. In current culture, its characteristics are the appearance of living fully, productivity, busyness, enjoying life, pleasure, spontaneity, and being unafraid.

It’s carefully constructed to shield the wearer from the terror of their inevitable death. To make this irreconcilable pain invisible to themselves, they dissolve themselves into the group and enact its rituals.

Sleep under your desk, have a drink, pull the vape, grab a fast food meal, gamble a little, stay up late to watch your favorite show, splurge some, chill out…live a little.

They are living.

At the cellular level, metabolic debt accumulates and repair mechanisms are traded for short term dopamine spikes.

But it’s done together, so it’s normal, and even desirable. No one will die alone if everyone is dying together and all agree to call it living.

The group moves in unison, comforted by the rhythmic movement. When someone declines to participate in their shared rituals, they experience it as an insult and a threat that must be attacked, discredited and mocked.

Subconsciously, they know their rituals are performative and masking something that must be suppressed. But it’s been buried so deep that it’s only a faint whisper, easily silenced by a swipe at the offender.

But then the whisper becomes a quiet voice and asks if they’re afraid. They attack the mirror because they cannot bear the reflection.

In pre-modern societies, death rituals were explicit and honest. They held a funeral, kept a mourning period, washed the body, prayed for the dead and observed burial customs. They faced death and created community rituals to metabolize the grief, fear and loss.

We no longer have death rituals. As explicit customs eroded, consumer culture monetized the void, driving our existential anxieties underground. Thanksgiving debauchery, New Year drunkenness, Halloween indulgence, the wedding open bar, the treat, splurge and cheat day. They are commercialized, camouflaged celebrations staged as group rituals to dull the shared death anxiety.

We previously faced the fear and now we gluttonize on it. Group rituals that name and face death can metabolize it. Rituals that hide from it accumulate the debt and are owned by their creditors.

When I abstain from societal death rituals, I break the spell. The anesthesia only works if everyone does it together. One abstainer reveals to the room that they are drunk.

This is the source of the anger. It’s not my decisions. It’s their reflection in the mirror.

Predictably, the collective seeks to pathologize my non-conformity. They will claim that systematic discipline is just another defense mechanism; a frantic obsession with control to escape the same existential dread. They will argue that preserving the biological vessel is a sterile exercise, a perpetual preparation for a game I refuse to play.

They misunderstand the objective.

Control is maintaining the status quo. I seek an evolutionary jailbreak. Natural selection stops maintaining us once reproduction is done. Accepting that automated slide into decrepitude isn't ‘living’, it’s passive submission to a blind algorithmic process.

I am not opposed to pleasure. I am opposed to the counterfeit. I say no to the dying ritual so that I can say yes to the full offering of consciousness: a vibrant physiological state, cognitive clarity, and deep emotional coloring. Vitality is mastery, not abuse dressed up as freedom.

The reward is a clearer lens, the ability to see what is currently invisible. High resolution consciousness allows for depths of thought, creativity, and experiential variance that are far harder to reach when the brain and body are chronically inflamed, degraded, and sedated. I want to expand the boundaries of the human experience.

On offer in this new future are things that no human has ever tasted before. I’m not deprived by the lack of participating in the rituals, I’m pointing to a joy that the human mind has not yet imagined.

I don’t intend to live a little. I intend to live more than any human who has yet lived and invite you to join me.

Thanks for reading! My stomach is eating itself.

Bad news #2:

2–5% of people have this, too. Likely more, because it hides.

Good news:

I’m going to try and solve it. Will share all.

As a kid, I ate sugar cereal, drank sugary soda, and gobbled down fast food. I had a few healthy years in my early 20s but then became a young father of three and began building a business.

Juggling that stress and grind, I let my health slip and gained 40 lbs. Within a few years I’d fallen into a deep, chronic depression.

Somewhere in that timeline, my body began developing an autoimmune process affecting my thyroid and then my stomach lining.

It’s called Autoimmune Gastritis (AIG).

My hypothyroidism got diagnosed when I was 21 years old with a routine blood draw. That enabled me to begin proactive management, supplementing levothyroxine and Armour Thyroid. They are the hormones my body should be producing on its own but wasn’t.

By taking these pills daily, my body was able to operate as though my thyroid was functioning properly. What I didn’t know was that something else was going on inside my body: my stomach had begun attacking itself. But there was no routine test to find out and I didn’t have any symptoms.

I just discovered it in May. I’m unsure how long I’ve had it. AIG causes irreversible damage: nutritional deficiency, anemia, and over a long horizon, elevated cancer risk. When AIG is discovered today, standard medical care concedes defeat, stating that nothing can be done except managing the condition, no matter how awful or lethal the effects.

Looking back over the past few years, I can now see the early signals we were picking up in measurement but hadn’t connected the dots. For 11 years, I’ve had low ferritin, without anemia. We continually tried to raise my iron levels with food and supplementation but nothing would work.

We chased the obvious solutions first. A plant-based diet means all my iron is the hard-to-absorb, non-heme kind. Hard training, sauna, and hyperbaric oxygen all raise the body’s demand for iron. But none of them explained the core failure: despite me taking iron orally, trialing every formulation, and using every timing trick, none of the iron would stick.

What I didn’t fully appreciate until recently is how many stones my previous providers had left unturned. The low ferritin kept getting explained away but not fixed.

I overhauled my medical team earlier this year. It was the rebuild to lay the groundwork for Immortals Care, our $1M a year protocol. With greater capacity, we revisited everything.

On the surface, my low ferritin was easy to dismiss by most standards of care. My hemoglobin and hematocrit were normal. Ferritin measures stored iron, while hemoglobin measures circulating iron, and because the body drains its reserves first to keep hemoglobin normal, you can be fully iron deficient with a perfectly normal hemoglobin and hematocrit.

This is why my low ferritin kept getting dismissed: the numbers that define anemia looked fine, so no one asked why my iron reserves wouldn’t refill.

My team pressed on that question. They first turned to a colonoscopy. I was 48 years old and overdue. It was good health hygiene to have while also serving a specific purpose of searching for a hidden source of blood loss such as a polyp or even cancer in my bowels. Either one of those would be an explanation of why the iron kept disappearing.

At the same time, they began connecting the dots. Iron absorption depends on stomach acid, so one theory was that my stomach acid was disrupted. They also knew that thyroid and stomach autoimmunity often travel together, so often that the pairing has a name: thyrogastric syndrome.

Put against my 27+ year history of autoimmune thyroid disease, the pieces pointed to a single hypothesis: my own immune system was attacking my stomach.

To our surprise, my colonoscopy came back clean. A perfectly healthy colon, better than 95% of colonoscopies of men, according to the gastroenterologist. That ruled out the first concern and worst possible outcome: slow continuous bleeding from colon cancer, or pre-cancerous polyp.

My team had exercised great foresight though, anticipating this possible outcome. In addition to a colonoscopy, they’d ordered an upper endoscopy to be performed at the same time. The combined procedure is a bi-directional endoscopy. Probes would look at my entire intestinal tract, up from below and down the throat.

Additionally, we had several blood biomarkers measured ahead of the procedure to try and pick up on any signals that would give the gastroenterologist guidance for what to look for while doing visual inspections.

Fifteen minutes before the procedure, my blood results returned, finding elevated levels of anti-parietal-cells-antibodies (APCA). They came back at roughly five times the upper limit of normal (103, against a ceiling of 20 Units/mL). It was a positive result confirming the suspicion of AIG being the culprit behind my low ferritin, the other type of gastritis, driven by a bacterial infection, was already ruled out, as we knew I am negative to H. pylori.

Even before this finding, my team had ordered five biopsies to be taken from three regions of my stomach.

The biopsies were the critical piece. Had they not been ordered, the bi-directional endoscopy would have been completed and AIG remained undiagnosed as there were no visual signatures of the condition in my intestines.

Two days later, the results of biopsies came in, showing clear signs of early autoimmune gastritis: early atrophy confined to the acid-producing lining, with the rest of the stomach still spared. My team had anticipated this, methodically tracing every line of evidence.

We now had a formal diagnosis. I have autoimmune gastritis AIG. My stomach is eating itself.

So this was never one problem. It was three, linked to one another: the iron deficiency, the autoimmune gastritis driving it, and the autoimmune thyroid disease alongside it. Iron and thyroid feed each other both ways, low iron impairs the conversion of thyroid hormone into its active form, and an under active thyroid impairs how the body uses iron. Each made the other harder to fix.

Autoimmune gastritis affects an estimated 2–5% of people, and likely more, because it hides and is challenging to diagnose. It’s usually silent for years, surfacing only once the stomach has atrophied enough to do real damage: iron deficiency first, then B12 deficiency, then anemia from both, and over a long horizon, raised stomach-cancer risk. In one study of people with precancerous gastric lesions, roughly 18% carried the autoimmune antibodies, and only about 1% had ever been diagnosed.

And the earliest clue, low ferritin, is the one standard medicine waves through. Low iron stores get normalized and rarely investigated at all when anemia hasn’t shown up yet. That blind spot is what hid mine for a decade.

The good news: the iron deficiency is now corrected. I received a 1,000 mg Monoferric iron infusion. This was chosen for two reasons after considering multiple formulations. First, it can safely deliver a full dose of iron in a single infusion (1,000 mg), while older options like Venofer require several separate appointments to reach the same total.

Second, certain other IV iron formulations can cause a drop in blood phosphate levels, an important mineral for bones and energy. Monoferric is much less likely to do this, which matters given how closely we track long-term metabolic and bone health parameters.

As mentioned earlier, current medical standards treat AIG as something to be managed, not resolved.

It’s worth noting that many of you give me a hard time, inviting me to “live life” and engage in self-destructive behaviors like a “normal person”. I’m cool with the playful ribbing. Also, had I not taken care of my health during the past five years, my situation could potentially be very serious.

You too may have a lurking health issue that is undiagnosed and could increase in severity from unhealthy life choices, without your knowing. The absence of symptoms is not the presence of health.

A gentle nudge that minding your health, no matter your situation in life, is good decision making.

My team and I are going to try and solve my AIG. This is how we’re approaching it:

First, routine monitoring keeps the disease in view: ferritin and iron, B12, the pepsinogen I/II ratio, gastrin, and chromogranin A. Gastrin is the dial to watch. If it climbs, the disease is advancing, and the risk of gastric neuroendocrine tumors climbs with it.

Second, we’re doing advanced characterization of the disease. We’ll do a repeat biopsy to read the immune infiltrate, deep cytokine profiling, and T-cell subset analysis, to see which pathways are actually firing.

That testing drives the intervention plan, including the experimental approaches we intend to develop.

+ If gastrin and chromogranin rise: damp the gastrin drive (netazepide) and tighten endoscopic surveillance. If the profile is Th1 / interferon-driven: target JAK/STAT.

+ If it’s Th17 / IL-17-driven: target IL-17 and STAT3.

+ If regulatory T cells are failing: rebuild them (low-dose IL-2, induced Tregs).

+ If it’s antibody- and B-cell-driven and antigen-specific: engineered cell therapy (CAAR-T).

Which organizes into four tiers, from available today to frontier:

Tier 1, now: protect and support; zinc-L-carnosine, and acid replacement (betaine HCl with pepsin) under physician supervision. This is specific to my case and not something to self-prescribe, especially given the cancer-surveillance considerations above.

Tier 2, target the signaling , JAK/STAT, GSK-3, IL-17, and damp the gastrin drive (netazepide).

Tier 3, reset the cells, induced regulatory T cells (iTregs).

Tier 4, frontier: engineered T-cell therapy (CAR-T / CAAR-T), custom AI-designed antibodies, or synthetic proteins, that can specifically seek out inactivate or destroy the rogue immune cells attacking my stomach lining.

To be clear: there’s no approved cure for autoimmune gastritis today. Medicine treats it as something to manage, not solve. Tiers 2 through 4 are investigational preclinical evidence at best, and in several cases therapies that still have to be built.

If you’re working on autoimmune gastritis, antigen-specific tolerance, regulatory T cells, or CAAR-T for organ-specific autoimmunity, please reach out.

Modern medicine has normalized too many conditions that erode our health, function, and comfort, shrinking the goal to monitoring and management while a cure is rarely even attempted. Most of these verdicts were handed down decades ago, in an era that predates nearly all of our current tech and science, and they have gone largely unchallenged.

We want to change that. In the age of AI, multiomics, and custom-built DNA, proteins, and cells, no condition should be presumed incurable simply because no one has yet tried to cure it with today’s stack.

I’ll end on a personal note.

We fill our days mostly on things that are trivial next to what we ultimately care about. We know, deep down, however, that in the noise of it all, health is easily forgotten until it’s the only thing that matters.

We spend a fraction of our lives truly sober to the preciousness of life. We feel it when someone we love dies, when a child is born, when we come close to death ourselves, or when a diagnosis marks our limit. So I did a blood test that looked at 71 genes for inherited cancer risk.

All came back negative. I feel lucky.

You can sleep, exercise and eat right for decades, and one late cancer can do you in. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the US, the first for anyone under 85. More than 1 in 3 of us will be diagnosed. A cancer death costs nearly 15 years of life, on average.

You want to catch cancer early. Breast cancer has a 5 year survival near 100% but caught late, survival drops to about 34%. Colon cancer: 91% versus 16%.

A genetic risk panel won't tell you if you have cancer. It tells you whether you were born holding a bad card, so you can watch the right things, sooner.

So I ran a combined DNA + RNA Panel covering 71 genes tied to inherited cancer risk, with RNA analysis on most. They cover the big hereditary pathways. DNA repair (BRCA1, BRCA2, ATM). Lynch syndrome (MLH1, MSH2). The classic tumor suppressors (TP53, APC, PTEN). The endocrine genes (RET, VHL, MEN1).

DNA shows the spelling of a gene. RNA shows what the cell actually builds from it. Up to 1 in 4 cancer-gene variants are predicted to disrupt splicing, the RNA edit that makes a working protein, and DNA alone often can't tell whether it matters, so it gets flagged "uncertain." Reading the RNA settles a lot of those, and catches broken variants DNA-only tests miss.

My result came back with no pathogenic variants in any of the tested genes, so it looks like I was born lucky.

This doesn't mean it clears cancer risk and it says nothing about the 90 to 95% of cancers that aren't inherited or influenced over a lifetime from age, environment, and luck.

Cancer surveillance is among the least glamorous parts of a longevity stack. It's also the most underrated.

The name of this test is Invitae Multi-Cancer Panel.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" Meaning, we will no longer, by default, expect to die of natural causes.

I believe this for three reasons.

#1: Immortality already exists

Biology can reverse some features of aging, and in a handful of organisms escape it almost entirely. For example, a sperm and an egg from two people in their 30s carry the legacy of bodies that have aged for decades (the egg in particular has been arrested inside the mother since before she herself was born), yet they combine to produce an embryo that resets the aging clock to zero.

The immortal jellyfish goes further and resets itself within one lifetime, reverting its adult cells to an earlier stage through transdifferentiation and starting its life cycle again. And in the lab, scientists have begun doing this deliberately, making induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from mature adult cells such as skin fibroblasts, and using partial cellular reprogramming to turn the clock back in the tissues of living animals.

#2: AI offers new potentials

Biology is a hard problem. For most of history that complexity was beyond native human capacity. AI was made for this complexity. The clearest demonstration so far is protein folding. Predicting the three-dimensional shape a protein folds was an unsolved problem for roughly fifty years, and it mattered because a protein's shape determines what it does in the body.

DeepMind's AlphaFold2 effectively solved it in 2020, reaching a median accuracy of 92.4 out of 100, a level long thought to require the slow, painstaking work of crystallizing a protein and solving its structure by X-ray crystallography. It then released predicted structures for over 200 million proteins, nearly the entire catalogued protein universe, in a fraction of the time anyone expected.

#3: Early signs are encouraging

These aspirations are not imaginative. With the current tools in biotech Sid Sijbrandij, the co-founder of GitLab, was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer, osteosarcoma in his vertebrae. He treated his own disease like an engineering problem, he used AI to help direct several experimental, personalized therapies in parallel and drove the cancer into remission after standard medicine had given up. Around the same time, an Australian named Paul Conyngham, with no medical or biology background, did something similar for his dog. He used AI to help design a personalized mRNA vaccine targeting the specific mutations in his dog's tumor, and after it was given alongside another immunotherapy and within a few months the main tumor had shrunk by roughly three-quarters.

How to increase your odds…

I. Don’t die in the meantime

We don’t know when these longevity therapies will become available. Your goal is to be around when they come out. Buy yourself as much time as possible by looking after your body to the best of our scientific knowledge. Good diet, sleep, exercise will get you 80% of the results.

II. Find your achilles

Longevity therapies will likely be outcome specific. Individual specific drugs/therapies that target specific things like…

> prevent and remove arterial plaque
> prevent and reverse neurodegeneration
> specifically target and eliminate cancers, or pre cancerous legions
> prevent frailty and muscle loss, and regain muscle mass, strength and, bone density
> reverse skin aging
> rejuvenate eye health
> restore lost hearing
> etc

We don’t know what therapies will be available first. Your goal is to find what your body is struggling with most and keep that problem at-bay until a therapy is available that can fully cure or reverse it.

For example, do you struggle with cholesterol? Blood glucose control? Cognitive decline? Find your achilles heel and reduce your risk systematically.

III. Invest in the future

There are three macro trends happening on planet earth right now, and the people who bet on these areas have the highest risk + reward.

> AI
> Immortality
> Energy

As we know, power comes in many forms: money, social, political, health, etc. Those that can collect power in these fields will have the greatest chance of positioning themselves in the Immortal future.

With time, Immortal therapies will become broadly available.

If you’re reading this: don’t waste your chances by burning down your life points on a yolo-like mentality. Grind culture, addiction, social media pollution, fast food, porn, alcohol, these are all corporations turning your life into their profit. This is the Die Economy.

My company Immortals has the sole objective of turning your time, attention, and life into more healthy, functional, and prosperous minutes, days, and years. The Don’t Die Economy.

Good luck.

Thanks for reading! The bigger benefits sit further up the curve, in longer and hotter sessions. If you can tolerate more, more likely helps.

2) Skip the cold plunge right after the sauna. My core body temperature kept climbing for several minutes after I left the sauna, so much of my time above the activation threshold happened post-exit. Cold plunging cuts that window short.

3) Population level studies point in a direction but cannot tell you what is happening inside your own body. Continuous core temperature tracking can.

Here is the experiment explained

A brief background first. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are believed to be the enablers of sauna based longevity benefits. You can think of them as a clean up crew that travels through your body removing misfolded proteins and cellular debris. When you get really hot, like in a sauna, you generate a lot more of them. A tsunami of clean up crews unleashed inside your body.

There are many types of HSPs. We focused on HSP27 in this experiment because of its high value longevity benefits:

1. Calms harmful inflammation through a controlled signaling pulse, driven by IL-10

2. Protects arteries by blocking the damaged cholesterol that builds up into plaque

3. Helps the body grow new blood vessels over time

4. HSP27 is one of the first proteins your body makes when it gets hot, which makes it a clean signal of how hard the sauna session actually worked.

We saw initial signs of biomarkers of these benefits also turned on alongside HSP27, with enough time above the activation threshold.

I ran three sauna sessions, holding sauna temperature, my meticulous morning routine, and every other variable constant. We measured HSP27 activation and release (along with scores of other biomarkers) in my serum after each session. I swallowed a temperature capsule about the size of a vitamin pill. As it traveled through my body, it sent a reading of my core body temperature every 30 seconds. That continuous, real time data from inside the body is what no prior study has had.

The 102.2°F (39°C) core temperature threshold for HSP activation has been established in the research literature for years. Dry-sauna users have never been able to act on it because they had no way to track their core temperature during a session. An end-point thermometer cannot tell you how long you held above threshold, and the duration is the dose. Which is why we chose to use real time tracking.

The findings across the three sessions.

Two of the three sessions pushed me well past the threshold. In one, I spent 14.7 minutes above 102.2°F (39°C), with a peak of 102.87°F (39.37°C). In the other, I spent 15.8 minutes above the threshold, with a peak of 102.81°F (39.34°C). After both, HSP27 in my blood rose sharply.

The third session (the middle one in the figure) was different. I only spent 5.1 minutes above 102.2°F (39°C), with a peak of 102.34°F (39.08°C), barely above the threshold. HSP27 did not respond. The reading actually dipped slightly, but the change was too small to count.

Two things separate the responder sessions from the non-responder. The first is time above the threshold: 14.7 and 15.8 minutes versus 5.1 minutes. The second is peak core temperature: 102.87°F (39.37°C) and 102.81°F (39.34°C) versus 102.34°F (39.08°C). Either, or more likely both, are driving the response. Future sessions will help us figure out how much each one matters.

Within my body, holding all other variables constant, the central heat shock protein response is a direct function of the heat dose delivered to the body's core.

No prior study has done this. Earlier sauna research used a single thermometer reading at the end of the session, not continuous tracking. The studies that used continuous tracking used exercise, not dry sauna. None had a matched negative control like my session three. And all reported only cohort averages, not what happened inside one body.

What this means for the body

Once HSP27 is released into circulation, it signals to cells throughout the body and drives the four mechanistically proven downstream benefits listed above. All four are supported by my long-term sauna data, the population literature, and mechanistic studies. My acute post-session measurements hint at each being engaged.

To activate HSP27 in my body, I needed 56 minutes at 200°F (93°C) in a dry sauna. That is the total session length required to spend enough time above the 102.2°F (39°C) core temperature threshold to trigger HSP27 release.

Does this mean longer sessions, long enough for your core to hit 102.2°F (39°C), would supercharge the longevity benefits? Maybe.

What we do know, I did 232 dry sauna sessions over the past year. My protocol was 200F (93°C) for 20 min. So even though my core body temperature didn’t reach 102.2°F (39°C) to unleash the HSP27, the results were still compelling:

+ a 10 year vascular age reduction
+ massive drop in environmental toxins [1]
+ complete elimination of microplastics in my semen (first ever in human achievement)

The data suggests there are health benefits at 200°F (93°C) for 20 min.

The data also shows that additional health benefits unlock when your core body temperature reaches 102.2°F (39°C).

Does this mean that if one is in the sauna longer, long enough to reach a core body temperature of 102.2°F (39°C). that the longevity benefits would be supercharged? Maybe.

Here is what this experiment teaches:
+ population level data is great for averages, pointing in a general direction
+ the resulting protocols are crude
+ not personalized
+ the only way to find out the truth for you is to measure
+ single person experiments (n=1) like this one are useful, because they find blind spots that population averages cannot see.

Note: I kept ice on my face and neck during these three experimental sessions to protect those sensitive areas from heat induced skin damage at extreme temperatures. In a previous session, not included in this experiment, I had no ice on my face or neck and used an ingestible temperature capsule for real-time core readings. I reached a core body temperature of 102.2°F (39°C) after 34 minutes at 200°F (93°C).

Adding ice to the face and neck adds roughly 20 minutes to the total time required to reach 102.2°F (39°C) core body temperature. Subjectively, the 34 minutes without ice on my face and neck was much harder than the 56 minutes with ice on my face and neck. After the 34 minute session, I exited the sauna and just laid on the concrete, immobilized. But I got the data.

[1] Toxin reduction:

After 15 sessions, sauna dramatically reduced environmental toxins in my body:
65% drop in 2,4-D
100% drop in MEP
15% drop in The answer is yes.

Benefits start at:
11 min
2-3x wk
min of 176F

Here is the mechanistic deep dive

How HSP27 actually works, and why HSP90 behaves differently.

HSP27 is the canonical first protein transcribed when the heat-shock response fires. The master transcription factor HSF1 sits inactive at rest, complexed with HSP90. Heat unfolds proteins, HSP90 leaves HSF1 to chaperone the misfolded clients, and the released HSF1 drives HSP27 expression. This is exactly why HSP90 in my data does not look like HSP27. HSP90 is the regulator, not the target. It gets consumed and redistributed during heat stress. HSP27 is a canonical induced output in response to heat stress (Arrigo 2017).

Once expressed, HSP27 is phosphorylated at three serines (Ser15, Ser78, Ser82) by p38 MAPK-MAPKAPK-2 kinases (Landry 1992; Kostenko & Moens 2009). Phosphorylation triggers oligomeric rearrangement and packaging into exosomes, which release HSP27 into the bloodstream (Stope 2017; Batulan 2016). Serum HSP27, which is what I measured, is the downstream readout of that entire cascade.

Once in circulation, HSP27 produces three downstream effects, each with mechanistic evidence supporting it.

Anti-inflammatory hormesis. Extracellular HSP27 binds TLR-4 on monocytes and macrophages, activates p38 MAPK, and drives a potent IL-10 release with only modest TNF-α induction (De 2000; Salari 2013). My IL-6 (+360%, +29%) and TNF-α (+18%, +70%) elevations are mostly direct heat-stress responses, since IL-6 and TNF-α are themselves heat-induced cytokines independent of HSP27.

The HSP27-attributable signal is the controlled inflammation brake: IL-10 climbed +137% and +184%, simultaneously with the IL-6/TNF-α pulse.

Prevention of plaque formation. Two parallel mechanisms. First, extracellular HSP27 directly competes with oxidized LDL for binding to scavenger receptor-A, blocking macrophage uptake of the oxidized cholesterol that initiates foam cell formation, an early step in plaque formation (Rayner 2008). Second, HSP27 activates NF-κB in macrophages, driving GM-CSF release, which maintains ABCA1 and ABCG1 expression and enables reverse cholesterol transport out of arterial wall macrophages (Salari 2013; Raizman 2017). In ApoE-/- mouse models, chronic HSP27 elevation reduces atherosclerotic lesion area by 21 to 35% (Rayner 2009; Cuerrier 2013). In human cohorts, low circulating HSP27 associates with increased cardiovascular events (Seibert 2013).

Vascular remodeling. Extracellular HSP27 also induces VEGF-A release from monocytes, the upstream signal of the angiogenic program that years of consistent heat exposure can produce structurally (HSP Immune Network review 2021). VEGF-A in my acute panel rose modestly (+6.4% and +9.1%), consistent with this being the a slow process of structural adaptation to heat, not an acute high-magnitude pulse. The match to my own multi-year VEGF rise (up to 20-fold across HBOT + sauna protocols) is what gives the acute small increase a potential meaning.

<a This affects at least 1 in 10 women, likely more.

Here she’s getting an ultrasound.

Historically you needed surgery just to diagnose it (incisions are made in the abdomen). We’re doing a non-invasive route.

Typically women live with endometriosis for 7-10 years before being diagnosed. It’s the leading reason women aged 30 to 34 get hysterectomies (permanent surgery to entirely remove the uterus).

This condition is where endometrial-like tissue starts growing outside the uterus, in ovaries, bowel, bladder, even the diaphragm. This tissue inflames, scars, and glues organs together.

Our first step is to find out if Kate has it.

Initial measurements we’re doing:

+ trans vaginal ultrasound
+ pelvic MRI w and w/o contrast
+ hormonal labs

All during the early part of her cycle to get the clearest picture.

During her ultrasound, a slim probe, about the width of two fingers, 10-12 inches long (although only a small portion is inserted) is covered with a protective sheath and lubricant and gently inserted into the vagina (patient has to empty their bladder first). This creates real-time images of the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding pelvic structures. While inserted, the probe is turned 90 degrees to evaluate all the various structures, angles and views. There is no radiation exposure.

The technician is looking for scarring, ovarian cysts, adhesions, and for organs that are fused together with tissue. This ultrasound can confirm endometriosis but it cannot rule it out.

What endo does to the body:

+ 90% report pelvic pain
+ 50% report severe fatigue
+ 26% report infertility. However many sources cite 30 to 50 percent.
+ 50% experience pain during sex.
+ Many have pain with ovulation, bowel movements, and urination
+ Severe bloating called “endo belly” where the abdomen visibly distends

There are a handful of theories about why endometriosis develops but the honest answer is no one is quite sure.

We’ll keep you posted on her results.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" Men, in contrast, can get their baseline done in 1 or 2 weeks.

+ 3 months for baseline measurement
+ across 4 time points per cycle
+ doing the same thing every day
+ a dedicated full-time medical team

For context on the extensiveness of measurement, during the past 5 years, we’ve collected 1.5 billion data points on my body. I suspect Kate will exceed that given technology has improved since I started.

The goal is to create a repeatable waveform of hundreds of life-critical biomarkers. Once the baseline is acquired, she will begin interventions.

We will try to answer practically useful questions and share all of the data + learnings for free.

Can fertility be improved?

+ Should women cold plunge?
+ Can PMS symptoms be alleviated?
+ What should a female sauna protocol be?
+ Should dosage change throughout the month?
+ What keeps a cycle regular?
+ Does the body need more iron, magnesium, or protein at specific phases?
+ Should women fast?
+ Should recovery protocol change by phase?
+ What's the earliest detectable signal of perimenopause?
+ Can perimenopause be slowed?
+ How is cognitive load & mood affected?
+ Does stress impact men and women the same?

Kate has suspected endometriosis. 10% of all women do. We will try to tackle this too. I am excited for all of the surprising things we will hopefully uncover.

Unlike me, Kate does not have the innate desire to wake up at 4:30am and do six hours of longevity therapies.

She’s the cofounder of Blueprint, building in the trenches with me since day one. She understands the game and how hard it is.

In many ways, this is a sacrifice for her. She is a creative person, going from a life of freedom and spontaneity to a rigid protocol.

Traditionally, RCTs have been viewed as the gold standard. But RCTs have underserved women. The FDA banned women from clinical trials for 16 years (1977 to 1993), and most "medicine for women" is still medicine tested in men. Demanding RCT-only evidence for women's health is demanding evidence that doesn't exist. There is not enough practical scientific literature for women to reference only RCTs. It leaves half the population without a path to know what to do.

N=1 medicine is gaining ground and picking up where RCTs specifically fail. Individual science experiments give us signals that answer what to do on a day-to-day basis. This is even more important for women.

If you’re new to Kate and my world, I want you to understand that we have your back. Our intentions are to be a sturdy, reliable force in your life. To care for your best interest as we’d care for our own. We want what’s best for you and our loyalty is to your existence.

It’s pretty cool to be living in a time when we may be the first generation to not die. I’m not suggesting immortality, but lifespans so long that we stop thinking about lifespans.

At the end of the day, the one thing we each care about more than anything else is one more breath. I’m proud of Kate for taking on this responsibility. It’s painful, exhausting and costly.

The beginning of the world’s first n=2.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" I am the first human ever to show a complete reduction to zero.

This may be a world-first breakthrough in fertility research.

I had 165 microplastic particles in my semen just 18 months ago. Now, I have zero.

Five published studies have measured microplastics in human semen. Two found them in 100% of men. The other three found then in 44 to 76% of men tested, but those used methods that miss the smallest particles and the clear ones. Corrected for that, the real rate is likely 100%. Almost every man alive has plastic in his semen right now. The same applies to testicular tissue, testing 100% positive for microplastics.

Microplastics hurt sperm.

Human studies show the impact of various types of plastic, associated chemicals, and other toxins on male fertility:

+ 60% fewer normal shaped sperm (from PFAS)
+ 5x higher odds of low sperm count (from PTFE)
+ 10% lower sperm concentration (from PTFE)
+ 15% lower swimming ability (from PTFE)
+ 41% lower swimming ability (from PET)
+ 12% lower sperm swimming ability (from BPA)
+ 3x higher odds of low sperm count (from Phthalates)
+ 2x higher odds of poor swimming (from Phthalates)

The effects compound: each extra type of plastic drops sperm swimming ability by about 21%.

This matters even if you’re NOT trying to get pregnant.

Sperm count is one of the cleanest biomarkers of overall health we have. And microplastics don't stop at the testes.

The same particles are showing up everywhere we look. Studies show 4.5x higher rate of heart attack, stroke, and death in people with microplastics in their arterial plaque vs. those without. Microplastics were also found in 100% of human placentas tested.

100% of post-mortem human brains tested positive for microplastics. Brain concentrations rose ~50% between 2016 and 2024, and now sit at roughly 11x the levels found in the liver or kidney.

Where do these come from?
+ PTFE, commonly in non-stick pans
+ PET, water bottles
+ Phthalates, makes plastic soft and bendy
+ BPA, can linings
+ PFAS, stain-resistant fabrics & food packaging

Inside the body, plastic causes a kind of cellular rust. It triggers inflammation in the testicles, kills the cells that make sperm and drops testosterone. It's been confirmed across 39 animal and cell studies, then in human data.

MY PROTOCOL:

Note, what I did is n=1, not a controlled trial, I cannot prove cause.

1. Sauna (dry). My toxin blood panel confirms sauna clears plastic related chemicals: BPA, phthalates, PFAS, flame retardants, pesticides. The plastic particles themselves are too big to sweat out directly. Heat may activate other clearance routes: bile flow through the liver, the cell's internal cleanup system, and the gut barrier. Humans have almost no enzymes that can break plastic apart, so the body has to physically push it out.

2. Reverse osmosis water filter. Drinking water is likely a major source of microplastic getting into your body. A reverse osmosis filter pushes water through a very tight membrane and strains the particles out. I filter everything I drink.

3. Trying to rid my environment of the big plastic items: cutting boards, cups, plates, food storage containers, non-stick pans, cling wrap, tea bags, water bottles, kitchen utensils, kettles, and synthetic clothing. Note, as hard as I try, I'm always finding new plastic things in my life. This can be all-consuming thing so try to just knock out the big ones.

I did all three interventions at the same time. I cannot say which one did the most work. What I can say is this: going from 165 to zero in 18 months is possible.

Results:
Nov 2024: 165 particles/mL
Jul 2025: 20 particles/mL
Apr 2026: 0 particles/mL

The 18 month window also captures roughly 7 full spermatogenesis cycles.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank"
