SANUBARI // LOCATION

If you’re planning a trip to Indonesia, find a way to incorporate Sumba into your itinerary. It’s remote, authentic and just a one-hour flight from Bali. Once you touch down, one of the resorts drivers will pick you up for the three-hour journey to the island’s southwest coast, where The Sanubari awaits.

SANUBARI // SWIM

The Sanubari is situated on Dasang Beach, an untouched paradise with crystal-clear water, waves perfect for beginners, and locals fishing each morning. Book a villa with direct beach access and you won’t need to leave the resort. If you’re up for exploring though, we loved Pantai Watu Bella, Pantai Masori, and Waikuri Lagoon.

SANUBARI // EAT AND DRINK

The beach bar delivers laid-back tropical vibes and a curated cocktail menu inspired by the islands seasonal fruit. It’s the spot to spend sunset each evening.

The resort’s restaurant is a farm-to-table dining experience, serving locally sourced produce, freshly caught fish, and a fusion of Indonesian and Western dishes. The staff are phenomenal, and the vibes are unmatched. It’s worth noting that the resort is isolated, so we worked our way through the menu and ate most of our meals on-site.

The beach-front villas are inspired by traditional Sumbanese architecture with individual plunge pools and direct beach access. The rooms are natural and understated, blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

Oia may not be a quiet hidden gem - but Armenaki is a heavenly oasis amongst the chaos. Just 25 minutes from the airport, the hotel is walking distance to all of the best restaurants, cafes, and Ammoudi Bay's turquoise swimming spots.

ARMENAKI // EAT

The breakfast alone is worth the stay. A fully customisable Greek-style spread delivered straight to your private terrace each morning - think fresh yoghurt with honey, kayana (scrambled eggs with tomato and olives), detox smoothies and freshly baked pastries.

All rooms have phenomenal views and outdoor space with a private plunge pool. We stayed in a ‘Cliff Nest Room’ which was super cosy and had everything we needed. Opt for a ‘Residence’ or ‘Suite’ if you’re looking for a little more space and a larger pool.

Ammoudi Bay - The ultimate swimming spot. Head down early when its quiet and the ocean is calm.

Oia Oenosart - A hidden gem wine bar and restaurant. Order an antipasto platter (deli cheeses, cold cuts and marinated vegetables) paired with the best wines of the island

Saint Sky Bar - Unbeatable sunset views, cocktails and vibes.

Pitogyros Traditional Grill House - The best gyros of the trip. Non-negotiable.

Kyprida - A cute dinner spot blending Middle-Eastern and Greek flavours.

Roka - An authentic Mediterranean tavern with a charming courtyard and caldera views. The perfect lunch spot.

Salina is a lush Mediterranean island just north of Sicily. It’s one of the seven main volcanic islands in the Aeolian archipelago and is scattered with cute small towns, vineyards and phenomenal swimming spots.

The easiest way to travel to Salina is by ferry (we departed from Catania, Sicily), the following link outlines the most convenient transport options to reach the island. Ferries also make it easy to hop between the surrounding Aeolian Islands for a day trip or a few nights.

Head to Salina if you’re craving a slower-paced holiday with fresh local produce, scenic hiking trails and dramatic volcanic beaches. Let’s dive into the good stuff….

GHT // GETTING THERE

Grand Hotel Tritone sits on the coast of Praiano, a go-to spot for those seeking a quieter alternative to Positano, Amalfi or Sorrento. The hotel has direct beach access, sweeping ocean views and is a short drive to both central Praiano and Positano. The journey from Rome to Praiano takes around 3 hours, alternatively you can fly into Naples, which roughly halves the transfer time.

GHT // SWIM

The private beach club is a highlight. Head to the beach bar for its curated cocktail menu or to the beachside restaurant, Nino’s, for lunch. Beach chairs were always available throughout the day and service was friendly and welcoming.

GHT // BOAT ACCESS

One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its accessibility by boat. We organised transfers for lunch reservations and trips to Positano directly from the private dock - it’s the best way to skip the traffic.

GHT // DRINK

Most nights started with sunset drinks at the hotel’s terrace bar, boasting panoramic Amalfi Coast views and an elevated cocktail menu.

GHT // BREAKFAST

Probably my favourite hotel breakfast ever, with an incredible antipasto spread, made-to-order crepes and freshly baked pastries.

GHT // ROOMS

We booked a recently refurbished ‘Deluxe Double Room’ with coastal views throughout. The rooms were comfortable and understated, leaning into a Mediterranean aesthetic.

GHT // GETTING AROUND

GHT provides a complimentary golf cart shuttle service to central Praiano, a laid-back town with a handful of restaurants and bars for sunset. If you want to explore the surrounding beaches and towns along the Amalfi Coast, I suggest hiring a scooter - transfers were super expensive.

LSANDSIA - Worth the hype. We loved every dish we ordered (the corn was incredible) and the restaurant had a great vibe. Book in advance.

Poncho Tacos - Mexican owned taqueria offering insane tacos made with homemade corn tortillas.

Lefteris O Politis - Not-so-hidden gem serving some of the best souvlaki in Athens.

Manari Taverna - Open fire Greek tavern and a favourite spot for dinner.

Wine is Fine - Cute wine bar offering French-inspired cuisine and a curated list of natural wines.

Numero Quattro - Technically located in Canggu but only a short walk along the beach. This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants - order the spicy gin rigatoni.

Baro Bakery - The best breakfast spot for baked goods and coffee.

Bar Vera - Relaxed bar, perfect for pre-dinner drinks or stay for dinner.

Hippie Fish - Rooftop ocean-view bar with a sunset view.

Portion Pool Club - If you don’t stay at Further Hotel and are looking for a laid back pool with a curated food and drinks menu, this is the place.

Le Bajo - Tropical pool club with a relaxed vibe and no minimum spend before 12pm.
