There will be breathwork, yoga, cacao, writing, creative workshops, incredible food, bonfires, community, and plenty of room to create and simply be.

Going Rogue

It’s scary to step out on your own. To carve your own path. To let go of the “sure thing” and reach for something uncertain.

Here I am, doing just that.

This summer has brought me an incredible amount of courage — to make big changes, to release people and places that were harmful to my spirit, and to look back honestly and ask: what’s worked? What hasn’t? What’s worth letting go of? And what wants to be built?

The whole sky has been asking the same questions. We’re deep in Virgo season — the honest edit, the great sorting — with Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto all retrograde, the outer planets turned back toward the interior. The cosmos itself is in re-evaluation mode. So of course I have been too.

I’ve moved through all the stages of grief. First denial — “maybe it isn’t so bad, maybe if I just stay and don’t speak to X, everything will be okay. Maybe I am making up how bad it is. Maybe I am the problem?…” — until I realized NOPE, that wouldn’t come close to working.

Then anger. In my final session at St. Mark’s we held a hapé ceremony afterward with Gemalys (who will be joining us for the October retreat, by the way), and when she administered the hapé to my left nostril — the heart side — I immediately howled out the deep, repressed anger and grief I’d been carrying. Within seconds, months of anger moved up and out of my body. It was palpable.

Then came bargaining — “maybe if I just keep my distance I could stay, I could ignore them, work around them, or what if I did all the little, controlling things they’re asking of me just to get get along, maybe then I could stay” — until I understood the compromise would be too big, and would make me too small. So I quit. I released the studio/s I loved, the spaces that had been so constant and consistent. It was the right choice. The moment that person was out of my life, my heart, my spirit, and my health began to heal. Immediate relief. I felt the weight leave my body. My spirit got lighter.

And then, the stage no one romanticizes: depression. A few weeks ago I stood in my sister-in-law’s kitchen in Oregon, numb and un-animated, and looked Jenny in the eyes and said, “man, I am actually so depressed right now. I know this feeling, it’s old and familiar, and it’s been so long since I’ve felt the void like this.” She was so kind. She hugged me, told me she understood, and gave me all the space I needed to sleep and rest while we stayed with her.

The timing isn’t lost on me. In Chinese medicine, we’re in late summer — the Earth season, the fifth season, the one that asks you to come back to your center and be nourished rather than to nourish. Earth governs digestion, and not only of food: digestion of thought, of experience, of grief of pain. I’ve spent years holding space for other people. It was a mercy, this season, to be held by someone else — to be fed, to rest, to let my body do the slow work of turning and churning everything I’d been through into raw building material and abundance this autumn.

And finally, today, here we are at acceptance. I’m back in NYC and I feel like I have finally landed…

Tonight there's a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces — the last in a two-year cycle that began in the fall of 2024, and the final Pisces eclipse we'll see until 2034. Pisces is the sign of the deep water, of grief, creativity, imagination and intuition and also - mercy. This full moon has me looking at my life and reimagining what’s possible, letting the waters move me in the direction of least resistance.

So I have a virtual session tonight, to breathe through this full moon and eclipse together (I can’t wait to see you). And tomorrow night, my very first in-person breathwork session since stepping out on my own — at the Sixth Street Community Center in the East Village. It’s already full of friends I adore; I know it will feel like a reunion with each other and with our breath.

The path forward will be lighter. Less coercive, less controlling. More FREE. I will chart my own course, and I am so excited to see what comes next. New pep in my step, new thirst for creation. Same friends carrying me through. Thank you, to all of you for being there through this process. Where would we be without our friends?

New Moon Breathwork - Virtual

August’s New Moon arrives with a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo — a powerful dropping in to the sign of the heart, creativity, courage, joy, and our willingness to be fully seen and expressed.

We are beginning a new eclipse season.

Eclipses are tides of change in our cosmic psyche and have a way of accelerating our growth. As does the season of summer. All this light, travel, fresh air — what choice do we have but to follow the light and BECOME?

Eclipses energetically offer us the chance to reveal what has been building beneath the surface and allow us to access our “shadows” — in a Jungian sense, the disowned material, the parts pushed out of the light.

I myself have been working with a little recipe of grief, anger, and regret. I don’t actually regret the choices I’ve made as of late, but occasionally my mind will convince me, “Oh, it wasn’t so bad,” and the regret sets in.

When I remember — truly — why I left, why I made the choices I made, I allow myself to grieve and even be angry about it. And this eclipse season, I’m using those feelings like little hot coals under the surface, fueling the fire of who I am becoming.

We are allowed these heavy emotions too, even in this season of “live, laugh, love.” ;)

During this time, we might choose to open our energetic channel to alchemize this “shadow” material — transmuting grief into meaning. Regret into realignment. Pain into possibility. Anger into impetus for change. And so on.

In Leo (and there are SO many placements in Leo right now), the invitation is deeply heart-centric:

What wants to radiate from the center of your being now?

What part of yourself are you ready to stop hiding, minimizing, concentrating inward — so that you can dazzle, shine, and expand into the possibility of who you truly are?

Leo rules the heart. The creative fire. The part of us that remembers that being alive is itself an act of creative and joyous expression.

In Katonah Yoga we talk about Room 5: the room of your own at the center of your being. Your solar plexus. The place where seeds drop into good soil and things “concentrate” in the unseen world of possibility.

And from that space, we radiate outward — 5 to 10.

Concentration and Radiance.
Center and Circumference.
And how we occupy the space between.

Through Breathwork, we’ll feel into the shadow, allow this unseen material to surface and be felt, reconnect to meaning, and create space for clarity and energetic transmutation to rise from within.

I believe the answers you are seeking are already within. In this fast-moving, summer season, may we take the time to listen, rest and recalibrate.

Before I wax poetic, I wanted to share that I decided to schedule one last Astoria pop-up before we head to the Pacific Northwest for a few weeks.

Sitting on my couch and pondering my plants…

I spent the spring repotting, moving my little green babes to bigger pots with fresh soil, and I noticed they don’t love it. Even done carefully, there’s a shock — the roots have to heal, settle into new soil, and decide the ground can be trusted before anything grows above the surface. The pause looks like stagnancy, but it’s the quiet happening underground before the leaves start to expand to the light.

It's mid-summer. We've passed the solstice and the astrology is fire — even at the peak of the season, the light has begun its turn back toward balance. And the same is true for us: you can be standing in the middle of summer and living, individually, through a winter. Through loss. Maybe a job, a relationship, a home, a vision you had that's being totally re-imagined. Maybe something is subtly shifting in how you see the world around you. We celebrate visible growth, but my plants remind me of something different — sometimes the most important work happens underground, and it takes time to feel safe, steady, and rooted in your new container before things begin to flourish.

If you’re in one of these quieter seasons, don’t mistake the stillness for stagnation.

Your roots may just be learning the shape of their new home.

Take the time you need for your healing. Breathe. Play. Rest in the sun. Let your roots linger in new soil before you decide where you’re growing.

We’ve created a mid-week Gathering Place — and what happens when people gather? Joy, belonging, love, resources, and empowerment.

I am SO excited to announce a Pop-Up in Astoria July 21st and 22nd, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at Side-B. My dear friend Lyssa Mandel will be filling the space with treasures (crystals, stones, vintage) and we created a schedule of yoga classes, breathwork sessions, and writing/somatic workshops for you to enjoy! TONIGHT — the outer planets peak and change is in the air…

We are in the exact window of “Barbault’s Basket,” a rare alignment of the outer planets, precise July 19th through 21st — tonight through the last day of our pop-up.

Join me for a virtual breathwork session to work with this energy as it crests.

The Basket is named for André Barbault, the skeptic’s astrologer — measured, mathematical, untethered to pop-astrology — who forecasted this window, before his death in 2019, as a pivotal turning point in human history. His life’s finding: when the outer planets cluster tightly, civilizations tend toward crisis (the 2020 pandemic); when they fan out into harmonious angles, eras of renewal open (July 2026, the architecture of a new era). This July, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto spread across the sky in exactly that shape — the resolution of what broke open in 2020.

I have learned this in my own life: some things need to fall apart before the healing can come in. This year my heart carried stress it didn’t need to carry, and this season has been about leaving what dampens the heart and opening it to something new. Something healing. Something communal and kind. Fitting, then, that this transit peaks at the height of summer — in Chinese medicine, the season of the heart, the element of fire.

And here in New York, after a week of wildfire smoke, today the sky is finally clear (ish). Of course, Fire is part of nature’s cycle, but this much fire is not — and I feel us all asking: What can I do? How do I deal with the heat? What do we need to do together? The answer, I think, starts with Gathering.

Coming together.

Mercury is also still retrograde — a season of Re-Assess, Re-Evaluate, Re-Consider and Re-NEW — which is certainly what I have been doing the past few weeks (read my article here about leaving some spaces behind) and Mercury stations direct on July 23rd, the morning after our pop-up closes.

We finish as the fog lifts.

As wrote of this transit, July 2026 is not the first day of utopia but “a serious work session on the foundations of our shared world.” And Barbault himself, writing decades ago about this very conjunction, promised nothing less than “a splendid relaunch of civilization.”

A relaunch. Of civilization. Of the heart. Of your life. Of whatever you’ve been waiting for permission to begin, let’s dream it into reality tonight. I am always down for a new beginning, so let’s start.

New Moon in Cancer — necessary endings, new beginnings

In life, I have learned there are many opportunities to say goodbye. To cut ties. To start fresh and end something that has run its course. The Capricorn full moon at the end of June was just about that — and boy, did it hand me a big decision to make.

I sent the email a couple of days ago that I am no longer teaching at St. Mark’s Yoga and Yoga Agora, effective immediately.

This is a choice I’ve been sitting with for a long, long time, and mulled over for the better part of the past year.

And, Honestly, I am glad I waited…

⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆

A couple of weeks ago, I was exhausted and heartbroken by some things that happened with a colleague, so for comfort, while Marvin was at school, I rewatched The Labyrinth, my favorite movie from childhood, by Jim Henson. A movie I watched every single day at the age of 4 years old.

There is a line that always comes back to me when I need it — the moment Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) gets clear, realizes her strength and power in the presence of the Goblin King (David Bowie), and finally remembers the end of the poem that has riddled her the entire movie:

“Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen. For my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom as great…

You have no power over me.”

It’s time to move on.

As my husband (who loves to wax poetic in science-y metaphor) told me a few weeks ago:

“Cassie, I think of this like a multistage rocket. At liftoff, it needs enormous thrust and powerful boosters to overcome gravity and get off the ground. But once those boosters have burned through their fuel, they become dead weight… the rocket has to release them. What helped it launch becomes weight it cannot carry into orbit.”

Letting go is not failure—it is how the journey continues.

And so, on this new moon in Cancer, to lighten up for the life I really want to call in and the heights I know I can reach, it’s time for me to let go.

On my time there…

I’m glad I co-created the first-ever 200-hour yoga teacher training at St. Mark’s Yoga. It was a huge success — and a training that brought me far more than I could have asked for: lifelong friendships, beautiful loving students, and the foundational empowerment of showing myself that I could do something challenging and rise to the occasion. In the middle of a New York City winter, no less.

I am SO grateful for these beautiful humans and our time together I could cry!

BREATHWORK

The breathwork program I built from scratch at both St. Mark’s and Yoga Agora, beginning back in 2023, went on to become one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever created and led. These sessions morphed and changed until I found exactly what I was guiding people through — weaving holotropic-inspired breathwork with Katonah Yoga theory. Weeknights at 8:45pm on a Lunar Calendar in the East Village and Saturday nights in Astoria.

We gathered by candlelight to breathe together and these sessions were life-changing for so many of us (myself included).

The community grew so much we eventually needed two sessions on each New and Full Moon to hold everyone — and many of you came for both.

Inside of that work, we used the breath to open our hearts, grieve losses together, quit jobs and relationships, find the courage to make bold moves, howl and scream at the moon, and shed the dead energetic weight so we could keep moving in the direction of our own dreams.

What kind of breathwork guide would I be if I didn’t do the exact same thing I encouraged you to do every time we gathered?

I am so grateful for every single person who kept showing up. My dear friends.

Stay with me, I am just getting started…

As challenging as this past year has been — and as much as it has tested my mental and physical health — it has also been deeply empowering and educational on so many levels. I am so glad I had a mentor who encouraged me to see it through and also not stay too long (thank you Nevine), and all of you — every yoga class, every breathwork session — reminding me why I do this work in the first place.

It is hard to make the decision to leave something you love. But leaving isn’t a failure my friends — it is simply what we must do to create the space we need to begin something new.

Happy summer solstice ~

Happy season of expansion, ripening, and JOY.

I hope you are able to travel a bit, and open your hearts and imaginations this season…

I believe MUCH will change for all of us this summer, this is a very exciting time to be alive. To me, this season feels like it is asking us to step up to a challenge or sorts. To reimagine our lives, and open to the possibility that even though some seeds don’t grow into fruition (and we may need to grieve that) others are ripening right in front of our eyes - if only we choose to see…

We would all be wise to pay attention to what is growing - now.

Pay attention to what feels RIGHT and ripe.

Pay attention to the sweet fruit on the vine — and when the time is right, take a bite.

This is your reminder not to let the little (or massive) upsets or the bumps in the road stop you from getting where you are going.

Have the vision. Step out. See it through.

Spring is the practice of letting go…

Old couches. Old identities. Dusty things.

In spring, the light shows us what’s been held for too long.

I struggle with letting go of things. I was raised by people who “keep things in storage” if you know what I mean…

I’ve had two couches in my apartment for over 10 years. I can’t bear the thought that one moment I’m sitting on one with my family, and the next moment it’s in the garbage heap.

I’ve been told to just let it go.

I’m bothered by our wasteful culture.

Our brains are programmed to want whatever Instagram or TikTok shows us a thousand times a day. It works on me too, and yet…

This brown couch has been sitting here, holding us for years. Stained and dirty. Three flights of stairs up in our NYC apartment…

It’s truly time to let go, though. I know because I feel shame around these couches, when people come visit I’m like “just don’t look at it.”

I know that when I finally move them out — when I finally make the sweaty effort to drag the pillows and frame down the stairs and through the door — what’s left will be space.

Space sounds nice.

I don’t need to fill it right away, but creating the space makes my shoulders relax and my imagination open. It helps the shame leave my body and the potential feels endless…

May you create space. May you let go. May you Open this Spring to endless possibilities…

I have a monstera plant in my back room. This winter and early spring have been very busy for me. I’ve been running around a lot and I somewhat forgot about her. She’d occasionally get water from me but not much else. I was holding her captive — only to realize, as I began cleaning this room, that her roots had outgrown the pot and she was seeking salvation by sending out aerial roots and winding toward the window.

Sometimes, when we aren’t even aware, we outgrow the container.

What might look like a failure to not fit the pot, to slowly rot at the edges from containment that’s too tight, is in fact just the stubborn insistence to continue to grow.

May today’s new moon in the earthy sign of Taurus, in conjunction with the “demon star” Algol — the star that represents Medusa and the pain and trauma that has morphed us into who we are — guide us to good soil. May you find a container that fits. Soil that is rich and nourishing and a space that gives all the right conditions to thrive and reach toward new and nourished potential.

It used to be easy for me to sit down and write — to pour my heart onto the page. Lately, not so much. I haven’t been able to find the words I want to say or where to even begin…

Life is really good right now I realize. Maybe my words are few because life is full?

April was hard on my body, I was sick most of the month, yet underneath the dull sinus infection that lingered, things were expanding.

My retreat in the Catskills nearly sold out in a few days after launch (thanks everyone😭) and I actively put down my phone to spend long afternoons playing and crafting with my little boy. Playing on his level and actually being present with him.

Kid medicine.

Still, I sit here with a little blinking line on the page searching for the words…

I told my mentor Nevine about this. How I couldn’t write and how my body wasn’t healing… She has seen me through a year of immense growth (and growing pains) and she can dish out tough love when I need it... which clearly I did.

Her advice earlier this week was…

Cassie, I want you to stop talking for a day or two. When you do, you will have something to write about.

You need to quiet your voice, and when you do you will heal your heart… and your body.

Speech comes from the heart, and your heart is tired.

I understood the assignment. Literally shhhhhh.

On my days off from teaching, I’ve been spending them with as few words as possible (and ALL the herbal tea) and I can feel my body coming back to life.

After teaching an entire season, speaking for a living, this is the medicine I need right now.

Quiet.

So here’s the question I’ve been sitting with — and the one I want to offer you:

Then, if you want to go further - sit in meditation with this intention.

Close your eyes and let your exhale say shhhhh a few times. Sit comfortably and feel into your body, throat, tongue, skin, bones and ask yourself….

“What would I hear if I listened with my ears, my lips, my heart, my skin, my hair, my eyes…

What would I hear if my voice was quiet and my body was porous?”

This is the question we will work with in breathwork this week. We will dive into embodied listening and heart-healing quiet. Breathwork is my favorite medicine and helps us map our way back home to ourselves.

Last night we had our first Breathwork session to work with this Full Flower Moon (in Scorpio) energy. It was a revelatory, emotionally clearing, and a deeply moving session AND we have one more tonight at 7pm. Would love to see you in the East Village later today 🌷

And finally, May this full moon, the first of two this month, offer you depth, rebirth and clarity.

May 1st is also Bealtaine, the Irish fire festival to celebrate the midpoint between the Spring Equinox and Summer solstice. A celebration of creation and regeneration. Light, in the northern hemisphere is returning as are the flowers, trees and creatures. This is such a joyous time to exist and I am always reminded that spring, the newness the growth, the changing weather, the incoming light (the allergies ;) can all be extraordinary AND a bit intense.

May you take your time. Trust the growth taking place. And remember that every seed sprouts when the conditions are just right 🌱

Just wanted to drop in to share a couple breathwork happenings this weekend plus scroll to the bottom if you’ve been on the fence about our Catskills Glamping Retreat, there are just a few spaces left and it’s sure to be an epic weekend!

CATSKILLS “Glamping” RETREAT!

This June, Thursday the 4th – Sunday the 7th, I’ll be hosting a long weekend retreat at the Outlier Inn in the Catskills, alongside my dear student and friend, Audrey Cibel, yoga teacher, cacao ceremony leader and brilliant textile artist based in NYC bringing all her gifts into the weekend.

This is your chance to take a long, late spring weekend—stepping out of the city, into the forest, and into a really special pocket of community and practice.

We’ll gather for daily yoga, breathwork, and meditation, share nourishing, locally prepared vegetarian meals (from a farm in Ellenville!), sit around bonfires, drink tea and coffee, move through a cacao ceremony, and create together in a natural fabric dyeing workshop… with more unfolding as we go.

It’s a space to land, reset, create and reconnect—to yourself, to each other, and to the earth.

With Audrey bringing her artistic brilliance, and a couple (potential) guest artists up my sleeve, there will be reading nooks, hammocks, music, art, creative expression, and practice woven throughout the days.

AND finally, we will be so happy to share some pre-rolls of our organic, homegrown, living soil cannabis cultivated from seed to bud by my incredible husband for relaxing evenings around the fire (if that suits you;).

With tonight’s new moon in the watery sign of Pisces,
can we trust that when the flood comes—even through destruction or devastation—
the waters cleanse and make space for something new to emerge?

When something falls across the riverbed, blocking the path—
the water does not stop.

It redirects.
It finds another way.
It continues down the path it was always pulled to travel.

We are living through incredible, heartbreaking, and thrilling times.

What a terrible joy it is to be alive.

Here we are—against all odds—
living in a body - with a mind, a breath, a current moving through us.

Can you direct the current of your life?

Can you hold both grief and joy?

Can you keep your vision—
even when others don’t understand it,
even when things don’t go the way you expected?

Lately, I’ve been feeling waves of creative energy—ideas moving through quickly.
Some have been met with openness, and some have come to a halt.

And I’m noticing the pattern:

Not everything is meant to move forward in the same space.

Not everything is meant to grow in the same container.

And that doesn’t mean the vision is wrong.

It just means the current is redirecting.

So I go with the flow.

We all need space.

Space to create.
Space to be free.
Space to expand—together, or alone when needed.

Water knows where it’s going.

It travels to the depths.

It moves through the cracks and crevices.
It moves around what’s blocking the way.
It continues despite the obstacles.

As we move through this Pisces new moon
and into the fire of Aries season…

May we trust the redirection.
May we release our need to control how things unfold.
May we allow what is ending to become fertile ground for what is ready to rise in spring.
May we hold the vision and find our fire as the seasons change, becoming part of the alchemical path forward.

May you move forward with clarity, courage, and trust that what is yours will find a way.

It’s been a long and rewarding winter for me. We are nearing the end of the St. Mark’s Yoga 200hr YTT, the first of its kind that I co-created with a colleague of mine and with a group of 37 yogis who are the most kind, curious, and delightful humans I have had the pleasure of spending my winter weekends with.

This has been a huge season of growth. The kind of deep growth that begins in winter, where the roots go deep into the depths of one’s creativity and naturally burst into growth as the light returns… and the light is truly returning - SO much creativity is flowing in right now and I am just trying to keep up.

I am so grateful to be able to do this work of embodied healing and community building. It’s the most wonderful gift.

Speaking of wonderful gifts, you know I have this amazing six-year-old boy I get to call mine.

A while back we had a challenging day going to school. A stand-off between mommy and Marvin. One of the hardest days in my parenting life so far… it was heartbreaking making him go to school on a day he so deeply didn’t want to, but both my husband and I had FULL days and couldn’t be home with him…

He eventually went — after much manipulation and begging, the stomping of feet and many tears — it was hard-won and I felt guilty about it all day long.

When I went to pick him up from school, I expected pouting and anger but he was as happy and goofy as ever. No more tears - not mad at me at all. It was only me who dwelled on it all day - kids are amazing.

He did a hard thing by going to school that day, and as it turns out, he really loves his school this year and all of his friends. He was just having a hard day… which is so relatable.

Throughout the day, as I dwelled on how hard the morning had been and how I had “betrayed” him by making him go to school, I promised myself that when he got home I would put away all my work and my phone and give him my full focus.

So I did.

There was a moment in his room where he was lying in a pile of colorful stuffed animals, just happy and resting, when I was suddenly startled by grief. I realized this moment of childhood won’t last forever. That I need to treasure his innocence — that he still wants and needs me to be around, that he still snuggles with a rainbow of stuffed animals and his little blue blanket to bring him comfort.

I cried. He noticed, came over, and held me.

I told him it had been a hard day and that sometimes crying helps us process things. He seemed to understand and was extra soft with me the rest of the night.

The next morning he woke me up in a way he never has before. Usually he kicks me out of bed or yells “WAKE UP MOM!” lol.

But this morning he left the room, then came back and said,

“Here comes a sea of hugs mommy!!”

Then he paused and said,

“You know mom? The thing about love… is you never really waste it. It’s an infinite thing.”

May we all remember the words of Marvin, my sweet six years old:

Love is never wasted.
Love spent is never lost.

May you get through the hard stuff and come out on the other side with more love, more understanding, and more grace for yourself and for others.

I’m thrilled to share a very special virtual session I’m co-hosting tomorrow night, Sunday 2/22 at 7:30pm, with my friend Matthew Drohan, The Manhattan Medium.

2/22 Breathwork + Mediumship

This gathering is the first of its kind — a meditative breath session designed to bring us into stillness and open space for intuitive insight and connection.

We’ll begin with gentle, guided breathing practices to help everyone settle into a receptive, grounded state. From there, Matthew will share messages and impressions that arise for the group and individuals. When the time is right we will transition into a 25 minute guided breathwork journey, followed by conversation, integration and any additional messages that come through for the group.

I’m SO excited for this experience and deeply curious to witness what unfolds.

We seem to be moving through a collective season of re-orientation and a reclamation of personal and collective power. As the external world continues to change and reorganize, it becomes ever more meaningful to stay connected to our breath, our inner stillness, and the quieter forms of guidance available to us.

How Matthew and I met

This past autumn, Matthew attended one of my in-person breathwork sessions at St. Mark’s Yoga. Not long after, he reached out to share that he is a medium and that messages had been flowing strongly during the practice. He wondered what a collaboration might look like.

I sat with the idea for some time, wanting to move thoughtfully and with care. Eventually we met for tea, talked about life and our work, and shortly after, he offered me a mediumship session.

The experience was deeply moving. Messages from loved ones who had passed came through with a clarity and specificity that left a lasting impression on me. It was an encounter filled with emotion, love, and an unexpected sense of reassurance — something I continue to hold close.

As we tip toward spring, we’re closer than ever to more sunshine, fewer layers, and those first spring flowers… I have to remind myself of this because it is opressively cold outside and walking through NYC is a real maze of climbing over snow piles and watching for ice… May we all take this time to rest, drink lots of tea, stay warm, work less, and winter well.

On a personal note, I’m currently sitting in the lobby of a surgery center, waiting for my husband, who is having shoulder surgery today. This has been a long time coming; he’s been injured and out of work for almost two years. While it’s been a challenge, it has also been a blessing in many ways, despite his injuries. The film industry can be grueling for grips—long hours, physical labor, overnights, and quick turnarounds with not nearly enough rest for the scope of work these guys do.

There’s been plenty of good that came out of it, too. Once he joined the Film Union, we gained access to health insurance that finally made it feel safe enough to have a baby! What a wild world that we often put off these big life decisions because of health coverage. I’m grateful we had it, especially since our hospital bill for Marvin’s birth was almost half a million dollars (he came early, and we were all in the hospital for over a month). Unbelievable, right?

Life never goes quite as planned. It’s full of surprises and twists, and I find myself in awe of the whole experience. It takes so much effort to live well, also skill and understanding - not to mention lots of luck and grace…

Despite Adam’s injury, he has had loads of time off, allowing him to build a special relationship with our little boy. It used to be, “I want Mommy! Mommy, I love you the most” (he would whisper in my ear), and now it’s “I love Mommy and Daddy the most,” reminding me that Daddy is his new favorite ;) They both really needed this time and connection.

With Adam home, I’ve been able to work more to build my business. I started teaching more classes, expanded my breathwork offerings (both group and one-on-one), and worked hard this past year to create and share the St. Mark’s Yoga Teacher Training.

I love being busy and creating. I feel blessed that the spaces I spend my time in are communal yoga studios. So much healing happens in these environments, and I’m grateful to curate and be a part of it all.

We’re halfway through our YTT, and I’m absolutely in love with this format of teaching and the incredible people who chose to join this winter YTT.

Teaching how to hold space, touch, and respect each other, learning the maps and wraps of Katonah Yoga, and digging deep into the classical texts that underpin this practice is a dream come true. After over ten years of studying, getting to share this practice in its entirety is everything to me.

I feel at home in these spaces with others who love to move, breathe, heal, and commune together—not just intellectually, but with their whole selves, body/mind/breath. It’s really heart centered work for me and I’m right where I want to be.

As I wait for Adam to finish surgery, I’m deep in understanding how to run an LLC, work with different people and studios, pay taxes properly, be a good mom, keep a somewhat clean and organized home, and earn enough money for comfort. It takes all of us to be successful—our hearts, families, the work we do, managing our emotions, asking for help when we need it and navigating the greater society around us.

It’s a lot to process, which is why our somatic, mind-body breath practices are more important than ever. They help us stay clear, open, and hopeful about where we are and what’s to come.

Many of you know that over the past year I’ve been partnering with St. Mark’s Yoga and my friend Matt Lombardo to create and launch the first-ever St. Mark’s Yoga Teacher Training. We’re now in week 3 of our 10-week journey, with an incredible group of 38 students who are eager to study all things yoga and deeply and explore how this practice can support their own lives — and the lives of those around them.

This feels like next-level teaching for me, and a place where I feel deeply grateful and at home. I’m not just instructing classes or sharing information — I’m engaging in real, life-changing conversations with people who are passionate, curious, and committed to growth. We are having so much fun.

What I often find myself thinking about at night is how much I don’t know. Even after all these years of study, there is still so much to learn. And honestly, I love it. I’m thrilled that this path is winding and that there are so many voices carrying this work. I’m deeply grateful that I can keep learning from those who came before me — even as I help guide the next generation of teachers.

I just wanted to share a little love and a glimpse into this season. This winter feels like a deep, expansive wintering for me — lots of learning, lots of movement underground. I can’t wait to see what emerges come spring.

I hope you’ll stay tuned for retreats, smaller-form trainings, and so much more to come this year. I am feeling incredibly inspired to create spaces and experiences where we can learn, gather, and grow together. What the world needs now is community, solidarity, and mutual support. I cannot wait to continue to build these spaces for us all.

We have an upcoming Full “Snow” Moon in Leo — a winter culmination that reminds us courage is part of who we are, and that the time is now. Now to show up. Now to be in solidarity. Now to create, to care, and to stand for what matters — together.

This is the season that asks us to go deep, to rest — to distill our dreams into the liquor of life. To let the tangled, sleepy web of dream space, desire and imagination begin to weave themselves into creation.

Snow inspires me.

I want you to know that this season holds a paradox—nature calls us to rest while life still calls us to show up. I see you holding both. I feel you. I'm with you.

We are only just beginning the process of wintering… and already the calls for NYE plans are ringing out. It can feel like the world is accelerating just as our bodies want to slow down. I like to start my year slowly — with good practice and solid rest…

I hope to see you as we move from 2025 — a 9-year of completion, karmic relational resolution, culmination, and that last, arduous uphill climb — into 2026: a 10-year. A new height. A new plane of existence. A new beginning. A deeply-needed fresh start.

And though we are just entering the depths of winter — with seeds beneath the soil only just beginning the slow work of germination — may we find the time and space to reflect, release, forget what needs to be forgotten, remember what deserves to be carried forward, and walk gently toward the life of our dreams, one breath at a time.
