I shouldn&#8217;t even be saying that. I left my phone in the car and went for a walk.</p><p>No destination.</p><p>No podcast playing.</p><p>No phone calls.</p><p>No list of errands.</p><p>Just me.</p><p>I found myself in a park, surrounded by trees that had probably stood there longer than any of us listening today. Children were laughing somewhere in the distance. A couple sat on a bench holding hands. The breeze moved through the leaves so gently that it almost sounded like a whisper.</p><p>It was peaceful.</p><p>Or at least... it should have been.</p><p>But my mind wasn&#8217;t in that park.</p><p>It was making grocery lists.</p><p>Replaying a conversation I had three days earlier.</p><p>Thinking about emails I hadn&#8217;t answered.</p><p>Trying to remember whether I&#8217;d paid a bill.</p><p>Planning tomorrow before today had even finished.</p><p>And then something happened.</p><p>I caught myself looking over my shoulder.</p><p>Not because someone was there.</p><p>Because my body was acting as if danger might be.</p><p>I stopped walking.</p><p>I remember thinking...</p><p><em>&#8220;Why can&#8217;t I just be here?&#8221;</em></p><p>Nothing was wrong.</p><p>Nobody needed me.</p><p>Nothing was chasing me.</p><p>Nothing was falling apart.</p><p>But my nervous system hadn&#8217;t gotten the message.</p><p>That&#8217;s when it hit me.</p><p>Sometimes the crisis ends...</p><p>but survival doesn&#8217;t.</p><p>...</p><p>Can I ask you something?</p><p>Have you ever noticed that?</p><p>Have you ever finally reached the place you prayed for...</p><p>only to discover your body didn&#8217;t know how to live there?</p><p>Maybe you finally found financial stability...</p><p>but you&#8217;re still terrified every time you spend money.</p><p>Maybe you finally left the unhealthy relationship...</p><p>but you still apologize for everything.</p><p>Maybe your children are grown...</p><p>but you still wake up every morning carrying the weight of everyone else&#8217;s lives.</p><p>Maybe the storm has passed...</p><p>but you&#8217;re still walking around with an umbrella.</p><p>Family...</p><p>that&#8217;s what I want to talk about today.</p><p>Because I don&#8217;t think enough people are asking this question:</p><p><strong>What happens when survival becomes the only way you know how to live?</strong></p><p>Welcome to <em>Rooted &amp; Rising.</em></p><div class="subscription-widget-wrap-editor" data-attrs="{&quot;url&quot;:&quot;https://celetam.substack.com/subscribe?&quot;,&quot;text&quot;:&quot;Subscribe&quot;,&quot;language&quot;:&quot;en&quot;}" data-component-name="SubscribeWidgetToDOM"><div class="subscription-widget show-subscribe"><div class="preamble"><p class="cta-caption">CELETA&#8217;s Substack is a reader-supported publication.
