We are happy to be organising the first international chess tournament at the Tate Institute, 1 Wythes Road, London E16 2DN.  The Tate Institute is a historic community building in Silvertown, East London. Established in 1887 by Sir Henry Tate for sugar refinery workers, it has served various community roles over time.
SECTIONS - Under 2400, Under 1900 and Under 1600 FIDE plus an ECF Under 1400.  Players in the top three sections also have to be Under XXXX in the most recent ECF list.

Our next Muswell Hill Congress takes place on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 May at the Clissold Arms, 105 Fortis Green, N2 9HR, and you are very warmly invited to take part. This is a compact, two‑day, four‑round FIDE‑rated standard play event, designed to give you serious, meaningful games in a friendly venue with good food and easy transport.

You can choose the schedule that suits you best:

• Play one day only (either Tuesday or Wednesday) for £30

Good quality food, plenty of space, and a relaxed atmosphere all help make this feel more like a chess day out than just another tournament.

Parents very welcome

If you are bringing juniors, you need to stay on site. While your children are playing or working with Arya, you can relax and work, or just chill out.

The Clissold Arms is comfortable and welcoming, with plenty of space to sit in the restaurant, have a coffee, and you can visit The Kinks Room if you love music from the 1960s without disturbing the players. It’s a good way to spend the day even if you are not playing yourself.

A new event is coming up this summer!

There will be a big Rapid and Blitz event taking place on 22-23 August at the ILEC Conference Centre in Earls Court, part of the 2026 Mind Sports Olympiad!

There will be a 2 day rapid with £4,000 in prizes in the Open, £700 in the Under 1900, and £700 in the Under 1600 section.

Five rounds of 15+10 rapid games each day (10 rounds total).

There are additionally two blitz tournaments.

The Saturday Blitz has £1,600 in prizes, and the Sunday Blitz has £300 in prizes.

Both blitz tournaments will be 11 rounds (Saturday is 3+2, and Sunday’s time control is TBC, but likely a 3+0 or 5+0 with no increment!).

The total prize fund is £7,300 across all the tournaments.
