For as long as I can remember, I have heard the expression, “You need money to make more money.” I heard it from my teachers in secondary school, my lecturers in the University, close relatives, faith leaders, and many people I held in high esteem. Over time, that expression became deeply internalized. It shaped the way I thought about money, business, and ambition. Without realizing it, I had accepted it as truth, and it became a mindset that dismissed dreams and convinced me that great visions could not begin without financial capital.

By God’s mercy, however, I have been learning differently this year, not only through the study of His Word, but also through the application of it, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the counsel of my pastor, and a growing personal relationship with God.

Let the story begin...

I completed the academic requirements for the Nigerian Law School on the 14th of December, 2025, and returned home on the 17th after spending almost nine months away from my family. It was a deeply relieving season, one I had been longing for almost from my second month in Law School.

A few days after returning home, however, restlessness set in. Reality was beginning to dawn on me. I was now a graduate, a full-grown adult, and I could no longer wake up every morning expecting breakfast, lunch, and dinner to be provided by my parents forever.

As had become my habit, I took my concerns to the One who knows me better than I know myself and has the answer to every problem, the Holy Spirit.

He inspired me to begin writing, and I obeyed immediately. My first post on this platform was published in that same December after I returned from Law School.

As I continued writing, people began reaching out to tell me how much the articles encouraged and inspired them. Sometimes, I reached out first. If you liked one of my posts, I would ask what resonated with you. Through those conversations, I kept learning, the audience kept growing, and, without fully realizing it at the time, God kept bringing more people into my life.

By January, after a lengthy and deeply humbling conversation with my pastor, I began an intensive Bible study focused on character development, understanding God’s heart, aligning with His will and purpose for my life, and cultivating humility and thanksgiving.

The study was initially meant to last only two weeks.

At the end of those two weeks, however, my pastor reviewed not only what I had studied but also how I had studied it. I was graded rather poorly. He observed that although I had covered the material, the condition of my heart revealed that I had not truly absorbed what I had learned. As a result, he instructed me to repeat the study for another two weeks.

Looking back, I can honestly say those weeks changed my life.

There were many struggles especially with my flesh. I had never before devoted myself to two uninterrupted weeks of total focus on God’s Word. Yet, in the middle of that process, the Holy Spirit began teaching me in ways I had never experienced before.

More humbling than anything else, He laid my life bare before me. He exposed the errors of my old ways of thinking, corrected my heart, and began transforming me from the inside out. The lessons I learned during that season continue to shape my life today, and I believe they will continue to do so for the rest of my life.

During the second round of the study, the Holy Spirit filled me with so much insight. One of the things He gave me was a business idea. Within a few minutes, I had written out the business plan, and shortly afterwards I designed a PowerPoint presentation with Canva to communicate the vision.

Unfortunately, I broke one of the protocols my pastor had given me, and I was instructed to begin the two-week study all over again. What was originally meant to be two weeks had now become four, and I was about to begin another two weeks.

Those six weeks also included prayer, fasting, and meditation, not just bible study.

During the second round of the study, the Holy Spirit had already shown me the business idea and taught me how to develop it. By the third round, He began showing me something even more important the people I needed to partner with and strategies I needed to apply.

There is nothing as refreshing as hearing God's voice clearly, and nothing as beautiful as obeying Him when He speaks.

With every instruction I received, I chose to obey. By the end of those six weeks, I knew where I needed to be, who I needed to speak to, and even the conversations I needed to have. I had clarity about the next steps, not because I had figured everything out myself, but because the Holy Spirit had faithfully led me.

What made all of this remarkable was that I was preparing to start a business with very little money.

Ordinarily, that would have discouraged me. I would have looked at my bank account, concluded that the timing was wrong, and postponed the dream until I had "enough." But something had changed.

God had shown me what He intended to do through the work He had begun in me. My responsibility was no longer to worry about whether I had enough money. My responsibility was simply to obey.

If you are uncertain whether what you have heard is truly from God, test it against His Word. The voice of the Holy Spirit will never contradict the written Word of God.

Sometimes God's instructions can feel overwhelming. They stretch us beyond our comfort zones and expose every fear we have. In those moments, our temptation is to run, just as Jonah did. But instead of running away from God, run back to Him.

He gives rest to those who trust Him. He reassures those He calls. More importantly, when God gives an instruction, He also provides the grace, wisdom, strength, resources and capacity required to carry it out.

By the end of those six weeks, my spirit was full.

My confidence had grown, not confidence in myself, but confidence in God.

The Holy Spirit had taught me how to communicate my ideas, how to think strategically, and how to see possibilities I would once have dismissed. He filled my heart with visions that, under normal circumstances, I would have been too afraid to pursue.

If this had happened a year earlier, I probably would have talked myself out of it. I would have found excuses to convince myself that I was not ready or that I lacked what was needed.

But after spending six weeks immersed in God's presence, studying His Word, praying, fasting, and meditating, something had changed within me.

I simply could not run anymore.

Where exactly was I going to run to?

There are many things that happen in God’s presence, but one of the things we do not speak about often enough is how God changes the way we think.

He takes away our poor thinking, our unhealthy patterns, our limiting beliefs, and even the parts of our character that have held us back. Then, through His Word, He begins to replace them with His own mind and perspective.

This is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Before God changes our circumstances, He often changes our thinking. If our minds remain unchanged, we may walk away from the very blessings we have been praying for because we would not know how to recognize or steward them.

As I spent more time in God’s presence, many of my old beliefs about money, business, success, and purpose simply began to disappear.

Today, I sometimes hear certain opinions or watch people make decisions that remind me of the person I used to be. In those moments, I quietly think to myself, “I used to believe that too.” It amazes me how limiting those thoughts now seem, and whenever I have the opportunity, I try to help others see beyond those limitations just as God helped me.

Looking back, I realize that far more was happening during those weeks than I understood at the time. I thought I was simply studying the Bible, in reality, I was discovering who God had created me to be.

It felt as though the Holy Spirit had taken the person I used to be and was introducing me to someone entirely new. Every day felt like another discovery. I would joke that it was like receiving a major software update, you still have the same phone, but everything works differently.

One of the first practical changes that flowed from this renewed thinking was how I approached the business idea God had given me.

Instead of trying to build it alone, I intentionally invited other people into the vision, and together we established a company. Every now and then, a thought would cross my mind:

“Why did I involve other people? Why should I share the proceeds of this business when I could have kept everything to myself?”

The moment those thoughts came, the Holy Spirit would immediately convict me. I knew those thoughts were selfish, but I did not yet fully understand why they were wrong. Then, through His Word, the Holy Spirit began to show me that those thoughts were not merely selfish, they were limiting.

He began teaching me through the life of the most influential person who ever walked the earth.

Jesus. The Son of God could have chosen to accomplish His earthly ministry alone. Instead, one of the very first things he did was call people, he built relationships. he formed disciples, he entrusted responsibility, he created community.

The more I studied Scripture, the more I noticed that God’s work almost always advances through people, this realization would begin changing not only how I understood ministry, but also how I understood business, leadership, purpose, and provision.

I will be honest, until now, I saw no need in men like Fela Kuti, "he sang about the Nigerian Government, now what? Who cares? He sang Zombie o Zombie, a song that mocked the Nigerian military to their face, and I'd think, now what? Who cares?, What changed?"

I'd scoff at people who got angry at artists like Burnaboy, who built their brand on the Nigerian cause and quietly dropped it the moment bigger platforms presented itself - It wasn’t that I thought his behavior was justified; I just didn’t think it mattered.

I've never seen the need in men like this because I never understood the role they played and why it mattered.

Fela Kuti took political statements very seriously, he understood the need to be in the government's face at all times, he understood the need to be on the radio, to be in the heart and mind of every Nigerian, to have his message spread far and wide, he understood the need for it, and up until now, I have taken the things he did for granted because I never understood or saw it the way he did.

It took looking elsewhere to finally understand what he was doing. Look at the Israel/Hamas war, no matter your position on the war or whichever side you support, it's hard to deny that deep pocket investment in coordinated media and publicity might have helped Gaza, they didn't win the war, but the constant drumming up of the conditions in Gaza kept the west in serious unrest, Europe and America saw record protests, the war was almost made a national stage conversation in the US 2024 Presidential election. Worth noting is that last year President Trump pushed for a ceasefire and made a 20 point plan to restore Gaza and its people.

Nigeria has no such story being told. No drumbeat, no global unrest, no presidential plans, just silence.

We are experiencing a serious invasion, pillaging, raping, killing of our nation and its people at a rate that should have the world's attention, yet we don't. Every week, you come online to see that a village has been wiped out or hundreds of people brutally murdered.

According to Human Rights organizations and Amnesty International, approximately 2,000 Nigerians have been killed or abducted by violent extremists this year alone: higher than the estimated 1,700 non-combat deaths recorded in the Iran/US-Israeli war by international counts. Nigeria is, by that measure, more deadly than a country actively at war.

And any attempt at raising dust on what we are passing through, very strong media efforts go out to deny what is happening in Nigeria, we have Tucker Carlson, one of the largest podcasters in the world denying Nigeria's predicament on the altar of American isolationism.

Nobody is telling our story and that is the worst of it all, that is the most dangerous of it all, that the world is ignoring us because we have no one to tell our story or take the cause seriously.

Which of our top artists, entertainers or public figures have even attempted to speak truth to power?

Nigeria is one of the richest mineral countries in the world, rare earth, natural gas, oil, uranium, you name it, we have one of the youngest and largest populations in the world, we are an “impossible to ignore” nation, the only reason the violent state of our nation is not discussed is that it benefits the right people that we remain in perpetual violence, we are a “hard to ignore” nation, so the ignorance of the violence is deliberate, it's for a purpose and understanding that is the first step.

So what does this mean for the average Nigerian, are we to just fold our hands and wait till death arrives at our doorstep? No, no, we would never do that.

Do not get drawn into religious or tribal sentiments, that is exactly what they want. It is a convenient distraction. Our country has been invaded by extremists who have no respect for, or concern about, human life. They are driven by bloodlust and greed for wealth and property, and they use violence as a means to achieve those ends.

This is the message we must communicate, and we must spread it far and wide. What is needed is a coordinated, continuous, and deliberate campaign, similar to what we have seen with Gaza, until Nigeria becomes an issue on the political agenda and ballot in Europe and the United States.

This is a matter of life and death, the state of our nation is unsustainable.

If no one will tell our story, then we have to, if not, we will be forgotten.

This is our conversation.

Micheal: Tell me about this AI project. What are you actually building?

Randy: The AI side is a business. But the newsletter, that was never about money. That's just to get to know more Christians and keep up with friends. What I've been thinking about lately is how I can take what I know from the AI space and give Christians their time back. Real ministry time. People ministry. Instead of spending an hour designing a flyer for an event, I can handle that. You go talk to people. You go share the gospel. I can't do that. So that's the project.

Micheal: I want to push on that. Because the full understanding of Scripture only comes by the Spirit, there is no technological shortcut to that. So what exactly is the role of AI in ministry, in your view?

Randy: I treat it like a tool. Like a calculator. Like Propre, the worship slide software a lot of churches use. If used well, it handles the admin so you can focus on what AI genuinely cannot do. And there is a very clear line it should never cross. Have you heard of AI Jesus? You can talk to an AI version of Jesus for two dollars a minute. That is disgusting. That is the extreme I'm not talking about. What I'm talking about is, why are you spending an hour on a church flyer when that hour could be spent with a person? That's it. That's the vision.

Micheal: I'll be honest, I came into this sceptical. I'm one of those people who has watched technology get weaponised, and it makes me cautious when it gets close to the things of God. But recently I used an AI tool to design the cover for this newsletter, Generation Christ. Under two minutes. I got exactly what I wanted. I went straight to my WhatsApp status to share my surprise. And I think what shifted for me is this, the problem was never the technology. It's what people do with it. You already see these tools being used in active war zones. But if Christians keep stepping back every time something new comes out, we leave the space to everyone else.

Randy: Exactly. It's a powerful technology if we use it well.

Micheal: once you do that ( leave the space to everyone else) - leave it to others. They spread their message, their vision of the world. Christians ran from television. They ran from the internet. You can't keep doing that and then wonder why the culture looks the way it does.

Micheal: What even brought you to Taiwan in the first place? America is a large country, Texas alone is bigger than my country, Nigeria. Why leave?

Randy: Our church started this programme where they sent out people who wanted to go on a one-year foreign mission. My wife and I talked about it and felt like this was an opportunity of a lifetime, a pretty exciting step of faith. It was time-boxed, just one year, so we could experience what it's like. And I just had a sneaking feeling it would change our lives. Which it did. Before Taiwan I'd done short-term mission trips, Mexico, where I went in a youth minister role with middle schoolers, and a couple of others. Those were a week or two each. Taiwan is the first time I've been somewhere long enough to really feel it. And beyond all of that, Taiwan is personal for me. My mom is Taiwanese. These are my people. The Christian population is two to three percent. In America there are churches everywhere. Here the need is real and different, and that pulled at me.

Micheal: You're in Taiwan right now. My church prays regularly for nations where the gospel faces real resistance, Iran, Pakistan. Taiwan doesn't usually come up in those prayers. What does it actually look like on the ground.
Randy: Taiwan is very interesting. It's an open nation, a lot of religious freedom, no persecution, no legal restriction. People are warm, the food is great, the weather is pretty good. But people are just so inundated by comfort and convenience and tradition that they have no need for the gospel. There is no need for Jesus. And then they die, and there's no hope. That's the difficulty here. It's a first world country with all its freedoms, and yet the gospel just doesn't feel urgent to people. That's a different kind of hard.

Micheal: That lands differently when you hear it from this side of the world. In Nigeria, we have the fastest growing Christian population, and it's growing in the middle of real suffering. Jihadist attacks on Christian villages. Highway kidnappings. Economic collapse. People are broken. And because they are broken, they are hungry for something bigger than this world can offer. There's almost an inverse relationship between comfort and spiritual hunger. America used to be ninety percent Christian. As it got more comfortable, that number kept going down.

Randy: It's really something. I think in every country, Satan has tried to take dominion in a specific way. In Taiwan it's comfort. In America it's individualism and privilege. In persecuted countries it's straight-up violence and danger. Different shapes, same goal, keep people from Jesus. But I think with every threat, there's always an opportunity. What you're describing, people being so broken that they're forced to ask whether there's something more to life, that's what makes them spiritually hungry. Whereas in Taiwan, in America, people think: why do I need to think about these things? Let's go get some good food. And then they die and there's no hope. My prayers are with the people going through that suffering. It's hard. But I've seen what it produces.

Micheal: I want to raise something that weighs on me. The Christian right in America has more political influence than any Christian community in the world. And that influence reaches places they may not even be thinking about. When prominent Christian voices in America deny the genocide of Nigerian Christians, publicly, with the ear of the president, that has consequences for real people in my country. Catholic Reverends are testifying about this in the US Congress. And yet some of the loudest Christian voices are going the other direction. If the Spirit of God is truly working in someone, how do you deny that?

Randy: That is a big topic and I want to be honest with you. I did not vote for Trump. I don't approve of many of the things he says or does. But he's the president, so what can I do except pray for him? And I think about where I can actually move the needle. The most high-impact thing I can do is share the gospel. Live faithfully where I am. I'm one person. I can't reshape American foreign policy. But I can be faithful right in front of me, and I believe that work carries eternal weight even when the political situation feels out of control.

Micheal: You're heading back to America in a few months. What does a year in Taiwan do to a person?

Randy: It gives you a mentality that you can't not have. You don't need to leave somewhere to be a missionary. You're called to be a missionary wherever you are. I'm going back to America and I'm carrying that with me. Every neighbourhood is a mission field. Every conversation is an opportunity. The tools change. The call doesn't.

A few months ago, law school sparked my interest in criminal law procedures and rules. Since then, I have spent significant time reading criminal cases, watching courtroom films, and following trial-based series whenever I can. Along the way, this interest has also deepened my understanding of God’s Word in few ways but particularly the innocence of Jesus in the trial that led to His death. That understanding was too exciting to keep to myself, so I felt compelled to share it. Enjoy?

According to the Scriptures, the trial and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth (circa AD 30 or 33) represent one of history’s most consequential legal proceedings. The Bible stands as the superior and authoritative record of these events, providing the definitive narrative in the four Gospels (Matthew 26-27; Mark 14-15; Luke 22-23; John 18-19). Historical facts from the Roman and Jewish legal systems align fully with the biblical account: Jesus was tried under Jewish religious law for blasphemy and then under Roman imperial law for sedition, resulting in crucifixion, a distinctly Roman punishment. The process began as a religious matter in Jerusalem and ended as a political execution ordered by Pontius Pilate, the Roman prefect of Judea. The Scriptures reveal it as the fulfillment of divine prophecy (Isaiah 53; Psalm 22), where an innocent man was condemned by human systems yet accomplished God’s redemptive plan.

The Origin of the Charges

Growing Opposition to Jesus

The Gospels record that opposition to Jesus intensified as His ministry expanded. His authoritative teaching, public miracles, and claims concerning His identity increasingly alarmed the religious leaders (John 5:18; Matthew 12:14).

Jesus openly declared truths that struck at the heart of the religious establishment:

- He claimed divine authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:5-7)

- He identified Himself as the Son of Man foretold in Daniel 7 (Mark 14:62)

- He asserted unity with the Father (John 10:30)

According to Scripture, these claims, not political rebellion, were the primary reason the leaders sought His death (John 11:47-53).

The Arrest of Jesus

The action against Jesus began late Thursday night in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:47-56; Mark 14:43-52; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:1-11). A detachment of temple guards, officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, and Judas Iscariot seized Him without formal warrant. This nighttime arrest violated Jewish procedural norms, which required capital cases to be handled publicly and during daylight hours. Despite the irregularity, Jesus submitted willingly, demonstrating obedience to God’s plan (John 18:11).

Preliminary Examination

After His arrest, Jesus was first taken to Annas, a former high priest who wielded significant influence but held no formal judicial authority at the time (John 18:12-13). This examination sought testimony against Jesus but produced none that was consistent or sufficient.

Jesus refused to incriminate Himself, directing attention instead to His public teaching and lawful witnesses (John 18:19-21).

Such an informal examination by an unauthorized individual contradicted Jewish procedural rules for capital cases.

Trial Before the Sanhedrin

Jesus was then brought before Caiaphas and the Sanhedrin at the high priest’s residence. The charge was blasphemy: Jesus had claimed to be the Messiah, the Son of God, and had spoken of Himself as the “Son of Man” who would come on the clouds of heaven (Matthew 26:57-68; Mark 14:53-65; Daniel 7:13). False witnesses were sought, but their testimonies conflicted. When Caiaphas directly adjured Him under oath, “Are You the Christ, the Son of God?” Jesus affirmed it, declaring, “You have said so… hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven” (Matthew 26:63-64). Caiaphas tore his robes and declared it blasphemy; the council voted Him guilty and worthy of death.

A morning session ratified the verdict (Luke 22:66-71). Under Jewish law (Leviticus 24:16), blasphemy was a capital offense punishable by stoning. However, the Scriptures explicitly note the Sanhedrin’s limitation under Roman occupation: “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death” (John 18:31).

The formal trial revealed multiple procedural violations under Jewish jurisprudence: witnesses did not agree (Mark 14:56), the trial was conducted at night, the verdict was reached on the same day, and capital proceedings were held during a major festival (Passover), all of which were prohibited by established Jewish laws (as later reflected in the Mishnah).

The Roman Phase: Reframed Charges and Pilate’s Court.

The Sanhedrin delivered Jesus to Pontius Pilate at dawn (Matthew 27:1-2; John 18:28-32). The chief priests reframed the accusation to fit Roman jurisdiction: “We found this man perverting the nation, forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King” (Luke 23:2). This was sedition and treason (maiestas) - capital offenses under Roman law.

Pilate questioned Jesus privately: “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:33-36). Pilate declared three times, “I find no fault in Him” (John 18:38; 19:4, 6; Luke 23:4, 14-15, 22). He even sent Jesus to Herod Antipas, who mocked Him but returned Him without condemnation (Luke 23:6-12). Seeking to release Jesus according to the Passover custom, Pilate offered the crowd a choice between Jesus and Barabbas. Stirred by the chief priests, the crowd cried, “Crucify Him!”

Despite Roman law’s expectation of evidence-based and impartial adjudication, Pilate allowed political pressure and fear of unrest to override justice. His symbolic act of washing his hands (Matthew 27:24) revealed the failure of the Roman system to uphold its own standards when confronted with mob influence and religious hostility.

Sentencing, Crucifixion, and Death

The process concluded with Roman execution outside Jerusalem at Golgotha. Jesus was nailed to a cross between two criminals, with the titulus above Him reading, “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews” (John 19:19-22). Crucifixion, a Roman penalty reserved for rebels and non-citizens, was designed for maximum humiliation and deterrence; Jewish law had no role in the method (stoning was prescribed for blasphemy). Jesus died after approximately six hours, His death confirmed by a soldier’s spear (John 19:31-37). His body was then placed in a tomb (Matthew 27:57-66).

The Scriptures record that this was no accident of jurisprudence but the sovereign will of God: “Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by llawless hands, have crucified,and put to death” (Acts 2:23).

The Meaning for Easter and Christians

The resurrection of Jesus is the foundational cornerstone of Christianity, signifying victory over sin and death, validation of His divinity as the Son of God, and the guarantee of eternal life for believers. It fulfills biblical prophecy, proves Jesus' authority, and provides hope for future resurrection, transforming believers into new creatures

The cross intended as a symbol of shame, curse (Deuteronomy 21:23), and Roman terror was transformed into the means and symbol of atonement and reconciliation. The very injustice of the trial shows the depth of God’s love: he sent his only begotten son who had no sin in him to be humiliated, tried, crucified to bore the penalty that guilty sinners deserved.

For Christians, Easter is the triumphant declaration that no flawed human jurisprudence, no political expediency, and no religious persecution can ultimately defeat God’s pre-ordained plan for any one of us as long as we walk in the light of his word. The empty tomb proves that Jesus is Lord over every court, every power, and every Government.

This gives believers enduring hope today: when facing injustice, false accusation, or persecution, Christians can remember that the One who endured the greatest miscarriage of justice endured the cross, despising the shame, for the "joy set before him”. Easter calls us not only to mourn the cross but to rejoice in the victory it secured: Salvation, Eternal life, Righteousness and the assurance of unending joy in Christ.

Perhaps you have noticed it before.

You say something you shouldn’t have, maybe a lie, maybe gossip. Or perhaps you find your thoughts drifting toward lust, pride rises within you, or impatience spills out in your words and actions. And almost immediately, something within you becomes unsettled.

It’s not merely guilt. It’s deeper than that.

There is an inner discomfort, an awareness that something about what just happened does not align with who you truly are. That response is not accidental. It is the work of the Holy Spirit dwelling within you.

When the Spirit of God lives in a person, He gives them a new nature - the nature of God Himself. Slowly, almost imperceptibly at first, your desires begin to change. You begin to detest the things God detests and love the things He loves.

So when you act in ways that contradict His character, your spirit recognizes the dissonance. You feel uneasy. You feel remorseful. And often, you find yourself drawn back to repentance.

In many ways, that conviction is itself a sign of life.

Yet for many believers, there is another side to this experience, one that is far more frustrating.

You may genuinely desire to stop certain behaviors. You tell yourself, ‘I won’t lie again’. You promise God you will guard your thoughts. You resolve to be more patient, more humble, more disciplined.

And in those moments, your resolve is sincere.

But somehow, the same patterns reappear. The words slip out again. The same temptations confront you, and you feel as though your resolve dissolves under pressure. Pride surfaces. Anger rises quickly. Lust returns when you thought you had overcome it.

Then the Holy Spirit convicts you again.

You feel the weight of it. Regret settles in. You repent honestly, sometimes with deep emotion, promising that this time will truly be the last.

And yet, before long, you may find yourself facing the same failure again.

Because this struggle is so common, many Christians quietly conclude that this must simply be the normal Christian life, a continuous cycle of sin, repentance, and repeated defeat.

But while many believers experience this struggle, it is not where God intends for you to remain.

God is calling you into something greater, the God-life. A supernatural life where sin no longer rules over you.

Jesus once said, “The prince of this world comes, and he has nothing in me.” Imagine that level of freedom: a life where the enemy finds nothing within you to grip, nothing to manipulate, nothing to claim.

This is not merely an ideal reserved for Christ alone. Through Him, we have been invited into that same life of victory.

So if you are a Christian who finds yourself in this struggle, there is something important you must understand: the battle against sin has already been won.

The cross settled that victory.

What remains now is learning to live in the reality of what God has already made true. You can live free from the dominion of sin. The power to live the God-life is not something you must earn or manufacture, it has already been placed within you.

Your role is to walk in the light of God’s Word. To resist the devil, knowing that he will flee. To continually align yourself with the life that already exists within your spirit.

The God-life is not distant. It is not reserved for a few extraordinary believers.

It already lives in you.

And as you learn to walk in that reality, you will discover something remarkable: victory over sin is not meant to be occasional.

It is meant to become your way of life. Hallelujah. Fill your life with God's word and continually walk in the knowledge of his light and you will be forever victorious.

I admire when Christians try to quantify the magnitude of God’s love through the description of their dramatic imagination of the torture, humiliation, and crucifixion Jesus went through during His time on earth. Almost always, no matter how teary or dire their descriptions are, the imagination never truly matches the extent of Christ’s suffering as revealed in Scripture.

For example, very few people talk about the fact that Christ was made bare - naked, without clothes - on the cross for all to see. Even His mother saw Him that way.

I think about this so deeply that I take it very seriously. I mean, if Jesus is God, what does it really mean for us that He went through all that for me, for you, for your dad and my dad, for your siblings and mine, for your best friend, and even for that guy in your class or colleague at work that really annoys you?

You mean God went through all that trouble for me?

He could have ended the suffering in a moment. He could have destroyed the whole world with a snap of His fingers - but He didn’t. Instead, He willingly submitted Himself to unimaginable brutality for man. No wonder David said in Psalm 8:4-5 (ESV), “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor".

The way Christ was crucified was a Roman method reserved for making a public example of someone. It was the highest form of punishment, designed as a fear tactic used by the Roman Empire against the people they occupied. That is why the most severe punishment was sought for Jesus for the crime of treason, and why He was mocked so cruelly. This is why they called Him “King of the Jews” in mockery.

So I ask again: if Jesus was truly God, what does it really mean for you and me that He humbled Himself, came into this world as a man, and allowed men to suffer Him for their sake?

The story of the crucifixion of Jesus is one of the greatest acts of love mankind has ever witnessed. But I invite you to see the full picture - one that will forever change your understanding.

God didn’t just come in human form to die for us on the cross. No, it didn’t stop there. When you read the Scriptures, you realize that God has given all of Himself to mankind - without measure. Walk with me; this is your moment of enlightenment.

He gave His Son.

He gave His Spirit.

He gave us the Father’s eternal nature - the God-kind of life.

He gave us His Name.

He gave us His righteousness.

He gave us salvation.

He gave us the keys of the Kingdom.

He made us divine partakers of the God-kind.

He made us joint heirs with the Son.

He made us His bride.

God has given all of Himself to us without restraint. That is agape love - selfless, sacrificial, unconditional, committed love that seeks the highest good of the other, even at great personal cost. It is not merely a feeling or emotion; it is a deliberate, active choice and way of relating.

There is nothing left that we will ever need that God has not already given to you. The question is: have you received it?The things in God are unending, and so are the things He has given us out of His love - unending.

Please, child of God, realize this: God isn’t promising to give you the whole world someday. He already gave the whole world and Himself for you. He isn’t promising to love you once you change; He loved you long before your mother even knew you.

When I say God’s love toward you is without measure, I mean God isn’t keeping a record of what He has given you. No, rather, He keeps looking inward to see if there is more He can give to you.

Can you imagine that after God has given you everything, He still comes to say, “Just ask, and you shall receive”? - Mathew 7:7

Oh, I feel like jumping and shouting while writing this - God’s love is unquantifiable. And the best part? He has given us the ability to live this same way through His Spirit. Remember, “the fruit of the Spirit is love…”

God loves you dearly, child of God. God loves you, and He delights over you with joy.

I started the yearly Bible reading in January and learned something profoundly provoking. When God finished creating the earth, He examined what He had made for our sake. God examined His own work to be sure it was good and fitting for us.

Can you imagine such an act from a deity? How many times have you tried to give something to God and stopped to examine whether what you were giving Him was perfect or fitting? Yet God loved you even before your mother was born.

Sadly, many people are crushed under an imaginary image of God they have created for themselves, a God who sits in heaven waiting to punish them for every shortcoming. They imagine a God who is constantly recording their sins and feeling disappointed whenever they fail.

Here is the truth: yes, God desires that you walk in His light, blameless and free. But that does not negate the greater truth - that He sent His Son so He no longer relates to you through your sin.

God wants you happy. God wants you to enjoy life, because that is what you want for the ones you love. Are you surprised to hear God wants you to enjoy life? - John 10:10 (AMP): "I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]".

God is not interested in seeing you suffer or be punished; He is always after what is best for you.

Oh, how I wish every child of God would come into the knowledge of this unrestrained love, how God has given all of who He is for us.

So if you have no Valentine’s date - does it really matter?

There is a God who absolutely loves you. And if God is God, and He loves you this way…

what do you think that means for you?

Often times, stories in the Bible serve as allegories for deeper and consequential truth. They are not merely historical accounts, but divinely orchestrated narratives designed to teach us about the character and nature of God. In fact, we can see God’s character revealed in every story of Scripture.

For those who may not know, an allegory is a narrative, poem, or picture in which characters, settings, and events represent deeper abstract realities, often conveying moral, spiritual, or religious truth. It functions as an extended metaphor, using real events to communicate eternal meaning. Importantly, allegory does not mean the story is fictional or symbolic only; rather, it means God intentionally uses real people and events to reveal spiritual realities beyond the surface narrative.

The Apostle Paul explicitly affirms this interpretive approach in Galatians 4:24 (KJV), where he writes:

“Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar…”

Paul goes on to explain how the births of Ishmael and Isaac function as allegories representing two covenants. This shows us that Scripture itself invites us to discern deeper meaning within historical events.

One of the most striking allegories in the Bible is the story of Hosea and Gomer. For those unfamiliar with it, let us briefly walk through the historical account.

Hosea, a faithful prophet, is commanded by God to marry Gomer, a promiscuous woman who either already was, or later became, unfaithful. Together they have three children, each given symbolic names that pronounce divine judgment. Gomer eventually leaves Hosea, pursues other lovers, and descends into degradation, (possibly slavery or debt bondage). Yet despite her repeated betrayal, Hosea, following God’s explicit instruction, redeems her by paying a price to bring her back home. He commits himself to her again, though their reconciliation requires a season of discipline, faithfulness, and restoration.

This deeply painful personal drama functions as God’s living parable. Gomer represents Israel, repeatedly unfaithful through idolatry and covenant-breaking. Hosea represents God, faithful, pursuing, and willing to redeem at great personal cost. The story reveals the consequences of sin, judgement but most importantly the unbreakable nature of God’s covenant love - a love that forgives, restores, and refuses to abandon its object.

The story of Hosea and Gomer reveals the true nature of love, which is also the true nature of God Himself. Gomer continually disgraced Hosea and degraded herself. By all natural reasoning, Hosea would have been better off without her. Yet God instructed him to go back, redeem her, and pay a significant price to restore her.

Why would God command such a thing?

God was using Hosea’s life to reveal His own heart toward Israel. Despite all God had done for them and for their fathers (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), the people continually turned away from Him to worship false gods such as Baal. Time and again, Israel betrayed God, yet God never permanently turned away from them. Instead, He continually “fought” for a way to restore them, even in the face of their repeated rebellion and spiritual adultery.

Through Hosea and Gomer, God revealed His nature and character, which is love.

So what really is love?

Scripture gives us a profound answer: God is love. This phrase comes directly from 1 John 4:8 and 1 John 4:16, where the apostle John writes:

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

This statement does not merely mean that God expresses love or acts lovingly, it means that love is essential to who God is. Love is part of His very essence, His identity, His nature. In the original Greek, the word used for love here is agape (ἀγάπη), which refers to selfless, sacrificial, unconditional, covenantal love. It is not primarily an emotion, but a deliberate, active commitment to seek the highest good of another, even at great personal cost.

Love is the encapsulation of everything good and righteous. Love does no harm and commits no wrong. This is an eternal truth: when a person genuinely acts from love, they are acting in alignment with righteousness. For the Christian, to be filled with love is to be filled with God Himself. Therefore, if bitterness, resentment, or animosity still rules one’s heart, even toward those who have caused real harm, then love has not yet been perfected within that person.

If more people truly understood the power of love, they would devote far more time to learning how to walk daily in God’s love. Consider this: it was God’s love for humanity that compelled Him to step down from heaven and take on human form. Out of love, He allowed Himself to be rejected, spat upon, tortured, bruised, and publicly humiliated, all for our sake. Many are unaware that Christ was crucified completely naked, stripped of every form of dignity and covering, enduring the ultimate shame, solely for you and for me. That is the depth and cost of divine love.

When someone claims to love another but is unwilling to endure sacrifice or inconvenience for them, they have not yet fully understood love. Love is not proven by words alone, it is revealed through costly action.

Now imagine if married couples or partners embraced this same posture of love toward one another. How could separation ever be an option? How could persistent conflict survive in such an atmosphere? Love, when fully embraced, disarms pride, softens hearts, and seeks unity over self-interest.

As Scripture declares in 1 Corinthians 13:13, love is the greatest of all virtues. Faith and hope are essential, but love surpasses them all. Love reflects the very nature of Jesus Christ, and to grow in love is to grow in God Himself.

There is still so much more to be said about love and the immeasurable power it carries. Truly, a person can experience victory in every area of life by committing fully to walk in God’s love, because love governs how we think, speak, respond, and endure. We will continue this discussion in Part 3 of this series.

Before then, consider this final portion of Scripture deeply. Love is not a casual concept; it is an essential godliness. How much of God’s Word truly lives within you is revealed by how consistently and sincerely you walk in love. Knowledge of Scripture without love is incomplete, love is the visible evidence that the Word has taken root in the heart.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (AMPC) Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited, rude, or self-seeking; it is not touchy, fretful, or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears all things, believes the best, hopes without fading, and endures without weakening. Love never fails.

This is a divine standard. This is how God loves, and this is how He calls us to love. As we come to full knowledge of what love is, may we embody God’s love in every word, action, and choice, reflecting His heart to the world.

To walk in love is to walk in alignment with God Himself.

Before we begin the conversation about what true love is, we must first confront what love is not. This first part is devoted to carefully dismantling some of the most common societal ideals about love, ideas that are widely celebrated yet deeply misleading. These false narratives do not define love; they distort it, offering only an illusion of what love is supposed to be which only leaves more people confused and empty when it doesn’t satisfy them as love does.

Let’s dive right in!

1. Love is not blind.
The popular phrase “love is blind” was popularized by William Shakespeare in plays like The Merchant of Venice and Two Gentlemen of Verona, those who are familiar with Shakespeare’s use of tragedy in his numerous body of work shouldn’t be shocked to see how he embraced this phrase.

When people say “love is blind,” they mean that those in love often overlook or ignore faults, flaws, red flags, or imperfections in the beloved. But this kind of “blindness” doesn’t lead to deeper connection, it usually ends in pain, disappointment, and heartbreak.
Overlooking obvious flaws or red flags doesn’t protect the relationship; it sets up people involved for foreseeable pain and heartbreak. Worse, it harms the one we claim to love by allowing them to remain in ignorance of behaviors or patterns that need correction and growth. True love doesn’t enable harm through denial, it confronts with wisdom.

This worldly version stands in stark contrast to God’s character. When Adam and Eve committed high treason in the Garden of Eden, God didn’t overlook their sin. He addressed it directly: they faced consequences and were sent out of the garden. Yet His love didn’t end there. Even in judgment, He clothed them with skins to cover their nakedness and shame (Genesis 3:21).

We see the same pattern with the children of Israel. Time and again, they defiled God’s name through idolatry and disobedience. God never “looked away” out of affection; He disciplined them faithfully because He loved them too much to let sin destroy them. Yet His discipline was always paired with relentless care, provision, and a path back to restoration.
Biblical love is never blind to imperfections. Instead, it pays close, wise, and compassionate attention to them.

Love sees clearly, discerns rightly, and responds appropriately, with truth, correction when needed, forgiveness, and grace.
This is exactly why the Apostle Paul prays in Philippians 1:9–10:
“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent...”

2. Love Is Not Just a Feeling: It Is Tangible
When people are asked to define love, I often find myself tuning out. Not because love is difficult to describe, but because it is almost always reduced to a feeling. And that reduction is precisely the problem. Love is MORE than a feeling, it is tangible.

Love has substance. It can be felt, touched, held, heard, received, and given. Love leaves evidence.
When someone says they love you or when you say you love someone, those words should not stand alone. Love must be visible in a person’s life. It should be something they can point to and say, “Here. This is how they love me.” You see love in how someone treats you, how they speak to you, how they show care, patience, and consideration.

This is why the example of Christ matters. When Christ says He loves us, He does not leave us guessing. His love is demonstrated through action, through creation, through provision, through sacrifice. Scripture says, “God demonstrates His love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” His love is not abstract; it is tangible, and we can feel its effects even now.

This distinction is important because many people claim to have feelings for you, even to love you, yet struggle to make the smallest sacrifices on your behalf. That kind of love stands in direct opposition to the God-kind of love. God’s love is revealed not only in all that He has made, but most powerfully in that He gave His Son so the world might be saved.
Love, then, is tangible. Do not remain trapped in a feeling that is never expressed. A love that cannot be seen, practiced, or sacrificed for is not love at all.

3. You don’t stop Loving: Love is a Feature and it is Eternal
True Love never stops, it does not switch off. It endures, it remains, and it outlives circumstance. Love, in its truest form, is eternal.
We often see the opposite portrayed in movies, in culture, and sometimes in our own lives. Two people are romantically involved, the relationship ends, and with the ending comes the claim: “I don’t love them anymore.” But here is a hard truth: if love truly ended when the relationship ended, then love was never present in the first place. What existed was not love, it was being in love.

What’s the difference?

Many people confuse being in love with loving someone, yet the two are profoundly different.

Being in love is the exhilarating rush, the butterflies, the chemistry, the intensity, the obsession that often defines the honeymoon phase of romance. It is driven largely by emotion and excitement, by how someone makes you feel. It is beautiful, intoxicating, and powerful but it is also often conditional, fragile, and prone to fading when flaws surface or life introduces pressure.

Loving someone, on the other hand, is deeper and far more demanding. It is a conscious choice expressed through commitment, action, and sacrifice. This is the God-kind of love (agape), it is patient and kind, not self-seeking, not easily shaken, and willing to endure even when feelings quiet down.

You can truly love someone without constantly feeling in love with them, and many lasting relationships thrive precisely in this mature understanding.

Valentine’s culture glorifies the rush of being in love. But to re-culture the heart is to pursue something greater: a steady, sacrificial love that does not depend on emotion and does not expire with circumstance.

This is because love, in its truest sense, is not something we manufacture, it is something we receive.
Love is a feature you receive when you receive the Holy Spirit. You do not turn it on or off; you either walk in it or you do not. When love is present, it is eternal and unchanging. This is why God cannot unlove us, no matter what we do, His love is unconditional, and it is everlasting.

Love is not a bug in the system that comes on when you find someone that you are interested in; it is a feature that goes with us everywhere.
As Galatians 5:22 declares, “But the fruit (feature) of the Spirit is love…” When you receive the Holy Spirit, you receive that feature. And when you love from that place, love does not end, it endures.

4. Love is more than enough: there is no insufficiency in Love.
In a world that constantly screams “it’s not enough”, not enough money, not enough time, not enough affection, not enough validation, many relationships suffer from a deep fear of lack.
People chase more feelings, more gifts, more guarantees, believing love alone can’t sustain them.

But here’s the truth we’re re-culturing: True love is more than enough. There is no insufficiency in the God-kind of love.
God’s love never runs short. It never falls short of what is needed. As 1 Corinthians 13:8 declares so powerfully: “Love never fails.” This isn’t wishful thinking, it’s a divine promise. The Greek word here means love never falls away, never loses its power, never ceases to be sufficient. While prophecies, tongues, and knowledge will one day pass, love endures eternally because it flows from God’s own nature (1 John 4:8) and nothing, no hardship, no flaw, no failure can separate us from it (Romans 8:38-39).

Think about it: When Christ loved us, His love was enough to cover our sins, heal our brokenness, and secure our eternity. He didn’t need to add conditions or extras, His sacrificial act was complete and sufficient. In the same way, when we walk in biblical love which is patient, kind, protective, persevering, it’s enough to build, restore, and sustain relationships. It covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8), bears all things, hopes all things, and endures through every storm.

The insufficiency we feel often comes from chasing the world’s counterfeit: fleeting emotions or conditional affection that demands more to “feel” secure. But real love doesn’t operate from lack, it overflows from abundance. It doesn’t say, “I love you, but I need you to change something first.” It says, “I choose you fully, and my love is equipped to handle whatever comes.”
So in this Valentine’s season, reject the lie of insufficiency. Love is more than enough when it’s rooted in God’s endless supply. Don’t settle for (or give) a love that feels lacking, embrace the one that never fails.

5. Love exceeds the five love languages.
The Five Love Languages was popularized by Gary Chapman in his bestselling book.
It offers five ket points: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. Many find it useful for understanding how people prefer to give and receive love, and it can spark better communication in relationships. But here’s the reculturing truth: True love exceeds these five categories. It is not limited, boxed, or defined by any human framework no matter how insightful.

Biblical love (agape) is way richer and more profound than any personality-based system. It flows from God’s eternal nature (1 John 4:8) and is demonstrated supremely in Christ’s sacrifice: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).
Agape love isn’t about matching a “primary language” or filling an emotional tank, it’s selfless, sacrificial, and transformative, often expressed in ways that don’t fit neatly into Chapman’s five.

Example:
• Love forgives seventy times seven (Matthew 18:22), even when words of affirmation feel impossible.
• It bears all things and endures (1 Corinthians 13:7), beyond quality time or acts of service.
• It chooses the cross over comfort, giving everything without demanding reciprocation, far surpassing gifts or touch.

The Five Love Languages can be helpful but they also reduce love to preferences, needs, or mutual fulfillment, echoing the world’s conditional, self-focused version.

True love doesn’t say, “Love me in my language or I won’t feel loved.” It says, “I will love you as Christ loved the church” (Ephesians 5:25) - sacrificially, unconditionally, even when it’s costly or inconvenient.

In the part 1 of this series, we’ve seen love isn’t blind, isn’t just a feeling, isn’t insufficient. Now we see: Love exceeds every human category. It overflows with divine abundance, covering sins (1 Peter 4:8), pursuing holiness, and reflecting God’s character. Don’t limit your love to five languages, let it run free in the boundless way Scripture commands.

We’ve only just begun.
In Part 1, we started dismantling the myths that have distorted our understanding of love:
1. Love is not blind: it sees flaws clearly, addresses them with wisdom, and still chooses redemptive care.
2. Love is not just a feeling: it is tangible, expressed through consistent actions, sacrifice, and real presence.
3. Loving someone is not the same as being in love: one is an enduring, Christ-like commitment; the other is often a passing rush of emotion.
4. Love is more than enough: it never fails, never runs short, and overflows from God’s abundant, unfailing supply.
5. Love exceeds the five love languages: no human framework can contain or limit the boundless agape love we’re called to embody.

After my morning prayers yesterday, I stretched my hand across the bed, feeling around for my phone. I quickly found it at the other end of the bed, my data already on. I opened WhatsApp to check for any new messages from the night before or early that morning. After responding to them, I went on to check the latest status updates for the day.

The first post I clicked on was a screenshot of an X post describing how gunmen carried out a murderous rampage. According to the report, they attacked a community in Kwara State, left to pray, and then returned to continue the assault on the same target. There was no sufficient response from any security arm of the government - not the NSA, the military, the SSS, or even the state police - during or after the attack. I didn’t care so much, because I don’t live in Kwara State. I have no family, relations, or friends there, and such news no longer surprises me as a Nigerian.

I continued my day - enthusiastically, for that matter - excited about what lay ahead. I had already blocked out, in my head, the bloodbath of over 100 fellow Nigerians. I went about my daily activities and routine, combining work and study at my father’s workplace after packing a proper lunch from home to devour in the afternoon.

This was my attitude after reading such terrifying, soul-splitting news.

I know I am not alone in this attitude. Many Nigerians likely had a similar morning, desensitized to the murder of over a hundred fellow citizens. We quickly block out the memory of such bad news because we have our own issues to deal with during the day, or as a sort of coping mechanism. In less than two days, a celebrity scandal, pointless debates on social media, or some other mindless trend will dominate our social space, and we will all forget that these lives were ever lost. Many of us will barely even consider that it happened.

But what does this say about us? What does it mean for the conscience of our nation that such gruelling, depressing, awful, and sadistic news can occur, and we still muster the intestinal fortitude to go about our day - without national mourning, without sitting quietly to say a few minutes of prayer for their souls and for our nation, without even so much as carrying a placard?

What has been done to us? Is this the new normal - a “civilization” desensitized to the murder of 160 citizens in one night, with not a reasonable peep or response from our security forces? The budget for our defence forces in 2025 was about ₦7 trillion, yet we all go about our day as though this level of carnage is “understandable.”

I ask again: what are we becoming as a nation?

It is evening now. I’ve had a long but busy day. My joints are sore from too much sitting, my head aches from the office air conditioning, and my body feels tired. I open X, and the first post I see is about the death of 160 Nigerians - the same news I blocked out earlier in the day. Suddenly, I am overwhelmed, consumed with extreme sadness, helplessness, and anger: anger at myself for forgetting, anger at my nation, at the government, at the injustice and normalization of brutality.

I can’t cry for long. There is too much on my plate. I have to prepare for work tomorrow and submit my project online so I can complete my registration for the National Youth Service Corps. Who knows? I may even be posted to Kwara. It doesn’t seem to matter much now. One hundred and sixty people are dead, but the show must continue.

The way you treat God’s Word determines the results you produce. It shapes the kind of Christian life you live and your maturity in the things of God.

We do ourselves a tremendous disservice when we second-guess the Word of God given to us in Scripture or fail to recognize its supremacy over every circumstance we face and every affair of this world.

Many Christians wonder why they don’t see the results promised in Scripture or why they fall short of the fullness of God’s blessings. Often, the answer is found in how we treat His Word in everyday life. Take an honest look at yourself and examine your attitude toward it.

As you read this and search your heart, you may think, “I already treat God’s Word as absolutely supreme.” But is that truly the case?

Consider these everyday areas:

• When engaging in cultural or social debates with friends, do you first seek what the Word says before forming opinions on feminism, gender, politics, and related matters?

• Do you disobey elders simply because it feels trendy or because you assume you’re wiser than they are?

• Do you bear false witness, gossip about others, or harbor unforgiveness in your heart?

• Do you honor and obey your parents even when you believe they are mistaken?

Most Christians understand there is no middle ground in the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Yet far too few recognize that their daily habits, character, and behavior in this world often contradict that reality.

When you declare God’s Word supreme but then speak vulgar, hurtful words to others, you contradict yourself. It is in these very contradictions that we forfeit much of the blessing God intends for us in His kingdom.

Even more critically, how we handle God’s Word in the “small” things directly affects how we face life’s bigger trials. If we cannot obey our parents as commanded in Ephesians 6:1–3, how can we expect to wield God’s Word to defeat giants, pull down strongholds, or grow continually in fruitfulness as described in 2 Peter 1:8?

And Jesus Himself affirms the unbreakable nature of God's Word in Matthew 24:35 (KJV): “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

Doing the Word is ultimately for our benefit. We don’t make God greater by doing so - He is already God. But the more consistently we do God's word, the more godly we become.

Declare the word of God as supreme over all circumstances and affairs of your life, maintain that consciousness forever, and you will live a beautiful life.

Give yourself fully to the Word. Let it dwell in you richly. When you abide in it faithfully, it will transform you into everything it declares.

Introduction: The Cost of Significance

Many people quietly measure the success of their lives by the absence of criticism. If no one objects, disapproves, or challenges them, they assume they must be doing something right. Yet history suggests the opposite. A life untouched by criticism is rarely a life of virtue or wisdom; more often, it is a life of invisibility.

A meaningful life is one that acts, creates, speaks, or leads and inevitably attracts judgment. Criticism is not an anomaly to be avoided but a consequence of engagement with the world. To live boldly is to accept criticism as part of the cost of existence.

This article argues a simple but unsettling truth: criticism follows significance. The question is not whether you will be criticized, but whether your life will be substantial enough to make that criticism meaningful.

Why Criticism Exists

Criticism presupposes three things: visibility, action, and consequence. One cannot be criticized without first being seen, and one cannot be seen without first acting. In this sense, criticism is evidence that something, however small or great has entered the shared space of human attention.

Consider two vastly different figures, separated by centuries and culture, yet sharing something essential in common: Socrates and Robert F. Kennedy. Kennedy’s public career as Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and presidential candidate placed him under constant scrutiny from allies and adversaries alike. His political convictions ultimately made him a target, and he was assassinated by a critic who rejected those views.

Socrates, likewise, devoted his life to relentless inquiry through what became known as the ‘Socratic Method’, challenging assumptions and exposing contradictions in accepted beliefs. This pursuit of truth earned him suspicion, hostility, and sustained criticism, culminating in his execution. Both men embraced criticism as the cost of boldly engaging the world. In doing so, they lived full lives, lives worth criticizing defined by meaningful work, profound influence, and, tragically, death at the hands of those who resisted their ideas.

Their stories illustrate a recurring pattern: where there is impact, there is resistance.

Types of Criticism

Not all criticism is the same, and failing to distinguish between its forms may cause confusion.

In common usage, there are two broad types of criticism, distinguished by purpose and method:

Constructive (or analytical) criticism basically involves the reasoned analysis and evaluation of an idea, work, or action, aimed at understanding its qualities, meaning, and value, and often at improving or refining it - it is balanced, evidence based and explanatory.

Destructive (or Pejorative) criticism on the other hand is the expression of negative judgement or disapproval that lacks fair analysis, evidence, or constructive intent, and is primarily focused on fault-finding, dismissal, or attack rather than understanding or improvement.

Such criticism typically appears in the form of sarcastic, disparaging, or harsh words chosen not merely to convey dissatisfaction, but to belittle, insult, or express contempt toward a person, group, body of work, or idea. Rather than offering actionable feedback, pejorative criticism uses language with inherently negative or disrespectful connotations. For example, calling someone a “lazy bum” does far more than point out a lack of effort; it replaces observation with insult, in contrast to the constructive alternative, “You haven’t been putting the necessary effort into this task.” It's a deliberate way to express disapproval often laden with hostility or low opinion, aiming to demean the subject.

This article focuses primarily on pejorative criticism, not to justify it, but to understand why it is an inevitable consequence of  living a purposeful and significant life.

Criticism Requires a Body of Work

Criticism does not arise in a vacuum. Even when it appears deeply personal, it is almost always a reaction to a body of work. That work may be tangible, including writing, business, or leadership, or intangible, such as patterns of behavior, expressed beliefs, or moral convictions.

To be criticized, one must first exist in a way that leaves a trace. Doing nothing, saying nothing, and standing for nothing is the most reliable way to avoid criticism, but also the most reliable way to avoid significance.

As Hubbard’s observation implies, the absence of criticism is not proof of excellence or virtue; it is often proof of non-engagement.

You Cannot Avoid Criticism

To avoid Criticism, you simply must not have existed.

One of the greatest shocks of my adult life came when I witnessed close relatives critically dissect the life of my late aunt after her death. To me, she was the finest person I had ever known, full of love and light and lived a life of faith; Yet after her death, her life was discussed in my presence as though it were a college thesis, subjected to analysis and criticism. Minor, forgivable mistakes were magnified, and little imperfections were given so much attention.

It was a shock to me because they didn’t remember her in love alone, they also unfolded her life in ways that saddened me and I was forced to remain in such discourse as a defender of the life she lived - in that moment, it occurred to me, that when I leave this world, I would be criticized even worst than she was because I am no better than she was and even if I became a better person, it wouldn’t matter because I lived this life, I deserve it.

People will criticize you no matter what you do. It is a human flaw, perhaps an inescapable feature of human nature. Whether you were competent, wise exceptional, or careful in all your ways, criticism will still follow. Maturity lies in recognizing that none of this ultimately disqualifies you from being judged. For critics, excellence does not grant immunity. To have lived, to have acted, to have occupied space in the world is enough. Existence itself is the qualification for criticism.

On one occasion, I was watching a wholesome and lighthearted family content on YouTube shorts, Curious, I opened the comment section and what I saw sent shocks through my body - people get outraged at anything - even a wholesome family content. “The human race never disappoints” I said to myself.

One thing I learned from all of this is that, in almost all situations, criticism is inevitable, regardless of how well one behaves or how conscientiously one lives; and if I wished to avoid criticism altogether, I would have had to not exist in the first place.

The Cost of Trying to Avoid Criticism

Don't try to avoid criticism, deal with it

Many people organize their lives around avoiding criticism because criticism is painful. Parents often make the mistake of repeating the phrase “What do you think people will people say?” as a corrective tool in shaping their children’s behavior. While usually well-intentioned, this approach can have lasting consequences. It trains children to prioritize public approval over judgment, courage, or personal conviction. The result is not necessarily well-behaved individuals, but adults who are hesitant to act unless their choices align with social consensus.

Such individuals grow accustomed to filtering every decision through the imagined reactions of others. Action becomes conditional on acceptance, and risk is avoided not because it is wrong, but because it may invite criticism. Over time, this produces a constrained way of living and a constrained person.

I can tell this story because that was once who I was, shaped by the way I was raised. During my university years, I deliberately limited my contact with others so that no one would have any reason to speak negatively about me. I stayed mostly in my room except when I had to be in class or church or where necessity demanded it. It took me far too long to realize what I was doing: I was moving through university without truly living it.

I missed the experiences, the friendships, and the stories that give that period of life its meaning. In trying so hard to avoid criticism, I had also avoided life itself. Recognizing this, I knew I had to course-correct.

The cost of trying to avoid criticism is that you stop living altogether and begin shrinking yourself into invisibility, this is because to truly live, one must do something, say something and be something, life demands so.

How to deal with Criticism

Dealing with criticism requires accepting its inevitability, understanding how to respond to it, and knowing when it is best to engage, and when it is wiser to ignore it.

For constructive criticism, the appropriate response is always gratitude, be thankful that someone took the time to offer feedback in a way that can help you improve. We all need a fair dose of constructive criticism to improve ourselves or our work.

Pejorative criticism, on the other hand, is best ignored in most cases. When it is public and mixed with falsehood, it can be appropriate to calmly clarify the truth without attacking the critic. Otherwise, ignoring disparaging remarks never goes out of style, except in cases where a critic tells a personal lie, in which case a measured response may be warranted.

It is important to recognize that, at its core, criticism is often an attack on your body of work rather than on you as a person. Self-reflection is essential: understanding where your work can improve allows you to produce better outcomes in the future. You cannot create a stronger body of work if you fail to acknowledge the shortcomings in your current one. Criticism, when properly considered, becomes a tool for growth rather than a source of discouragement.

Powerful Critics Are Proof of Powerful Work

The reason you have few critics today is that you have produced little of consequence.

There is a direct relationship between the scale of one’s work and the scale of criticism it attracts. The fiercer and more numerous the critics, the more substantial and significant the work being produced. Few critics appear where work is weak or inconsequential; powerful criticism is, paradoxically, evidence of powerful creation. In other words, the strength and visibility of one’s critics reflects the strength and scope of one’s work.

Elon Musk provides a clear illustration of the relationship between scale of work and scale of criticism. From electric vehicles to private spaceflight and global satellite internet, Musk’s projects operate at a scope that directly affects industries, governments, and millions of lives. As his influence has expanded, so too has the volume and intensity of criticism directed at him, from environmental groups, labor advocates, regulators, journalists, competitors, and the public. Whether one views his decisions as visionary or deeply flawed, the sheer magnitude of scrutiny he attracts reflects the magnitude of his work. Few individuals provoke such sustained criticism without producing outcomes of real consequence. In this sense, the size and ferocity of the criticism mirrors the size and impact of the work itself: visibility and significance inevitably invite resistance.

This pattern is evident across history and modern life. Public figures who act on a large stage whether admired or opposed attract intense scrutiny. The criticism may be deserved or undeserved, but its volume reflects the reach of their influence. Scale invites resistance.

Criticism and Meaningful Lives

Jesus of Nazareth not only provides a clear illustration of this principle, but also taught his disciples to expect opposition, emphasizing that suffering, rejection, and criticism were inevitable consequences of following him. Although Jesus is widely revered today even beyond the church and christian communities and frequently invoked as a moral authority in contemporary political, social, global, and economic discourse, his own lifetime was marked by sustained criticism and hostility. Far from being celebrated, he was relentlessly challenged by religious leaders, political authorities, and the public alike, a pattern of opposition and resistance that ultimately culminated in his death.

Whether viewed through theological or historical lenses, the pattern remains: lives that move humanity forward rarely do so quietly.

The same is true of Socrates, Kennedy, and countless others whose courage and boldness in the face of opposition, criticism and persecution changed humanity in many ways, though none on the scale of Jesus. Their critics are forgotten; their work endures.

Conclusion: Is the Price Worth Paying?

To live is to be judged. To act is to invite scrutiny. To create, lead, speak, or believe openly is to accept criticism as part of the cost of existence.

The goal, then, is not to avoid criticism, that would require avoiding life itself but to understand it, discern its nature, and respond wisely. Constructive criticism deserves reflection; pejorative criticism deserves perspective and restraint.

In the end, the question is not whether you will be criticized, but whether your life will be substantial enough to make that criticism meaningful. History remembers those who lived boldly, not those who remained invisible.

If criticism is the price of significance, then it is a price worth paying.

Challenge: Take a bold step today (something you are scared to do but always wanted to do) and see how people around you react, make it more public, see how far you can go with it - Remember: it does not matter whether you are doing the right thing or doing it well, you will be criticized regardless. So why not act anyway? Live a life worth criticizing, and the universe will celebrate and reward your courage.

Dear Lord,

I woke up this morning as usual with a grateful heart, thankful that You are God who loves me beyond words can say. You are my victory over this world, and with You, nothing else truly matters.

Forgive me for reaching for my phone before reaching for Your hand. I promise I am changing. I know I can, because even though my heart is willing, You guide me in all things.

As I close my eyes in fellowship with You, You paint my thoughts with visions of the stories You wrote about me even before I was formed in my mother’s womb.

I reaffirm my desire to have You involved in my day once again, and You respond by playing strings on my heart, reminding me that nothing can separate me from Your love.

Now Your Spirit leads me to remember others in prayer: the sick, the lost, unbelievers, and those suffering in war  because Your love knows no bounds and stretches wide. My heart becomes sober and compassionate toward others, reflecting how You feel for all people.

My heart is now overwhelmed by Your glorious nature, Your love for me, and Your grace. And in fellowship, my lips, my body, and my heart flow with unending praise and thanksgiving.

Thank You for loving me. Thank You for making me as I am. Thank You for the whole world and for creation. Thank You for eternal life; the glorious life I now have in You.

My life recently has been and still is an unending stream of praise and thanksgiving to God, irrespective of my situation or circumstances.

It wasn’t always this way. In fact, it wasn’t this way even a year ago. But in the past few months, my heart has been so filled with gratitude that, no matter what the circumstances are, I am more thankful to God than I have ever been. And the best part is that it never stops.

In the quiet moments, in the noise of this world, in trying and challenging times, and in seasons of joy, my heart is so full of praise and thanksgiving to God; it is continuous and unending.

This is not to say that I no longer face challenges, or that circumstances of life have not tested me. I have, in fact, faced trials and challenges far more than I am used to, but they no longer have the power to change the state of my heart.

Ever since I noticed this about myself, I also realized that my life has been full of peace, and there has been so much joy in my heart. I want everyone around me to know that joy and become that way too. The Bible calls it "the peace of God, which passeth all understanding."

In other words, the human mind cannot comprehend this kind of peace, it is supernatural, and it comes from God.

The moment I began to notice this about myself and saw that it went on and on without ceasing, I knew: I had to find the source of what I have become - a stream of unending praise and thanksgiving - a heart of gratitude. I needed to trace the origin of this state of my heart so I could remain connected to it. I could not afford to be any other way, this mental state; it was clearly a good place to be.

So I started with the source of all the truth, the living word of God; the bible, and I studied for myself, I listened to messages on God's word and the more time I spent in God’s word, the more I wanted to study it, it was like an insatiable hunger for knowledge, a longing and strong desire to know God and to know him for myself, not just from the preacher’s mouth or the bible stories, but from my life, so I can tell people about God from my own life experience.

When I started to study and search the scriptures, I began to learn and I am still learning, being taught and guided by the Holy Spirit. The truths I discovered were so compelling that I decided I had to share them.

In this article, I will discuss three of these discoveries. In subsequent parts of this series, I will share more as I continue to uncover the profound truth of God's Word.

Allow me, then, to share with you the core truths that have anchored my journey. The first of these is foundational:

1. The Knowledge of the Word of God

Imagine this: the richest man on earth, or even the president of a country was your father. Yet your mother never told you, and you never knew. You would live your life unaware, missing out on the privileges, the doors, the opportunities that could have been yours simply by being his child. Even if he wanted them for you, without knowing the truth, you would remain in the dark, and that chance would quietly slip away.

It is the same with the Word of God. So many of God’s children walk through life unaware of the treasures already theirs, ignorant of what He has spoken over them, of the life they are meant to live, or of the blessings they have received through Christ. Just as a child would remain in the dark about a wealthy parent, so too do countless believers miss the fullness of what God has provided. No wonder, in Hosea 4:6, God declares, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Here’s another way to see it: imagine you sit down and make a list of everything you will ever need in life, from now until the day you leave this world. You calculate the cost and send it to one of the world’s top banks like Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, any of them - and to your amazement, they write you a check for the full amount. But here’s the catch: if you don’t know you’re supposed to cash the check, if you never act on it, all those provisions sit unused, gathering nothing. This is exactly how the lack of depth in our understanding of God’s Word robs us daily. The blessings, guidance, and life He has already provided remain untouched waiting for us to claim them.

If you don’t build yourself up in the knowledge of God’s Word, you will never come to know the fullness of the life you now have in Christ Jesus, the numerous blessings God has already given His children, His fulfilled promises, or the way He intends for you to live.

As I studied God’s Word, I began to understand how He wants me to live, the life I now have in Christ Jesus, and the many benefits that come with this life. I take full advantage of them because I have the knowledge to do so. This is why the Psalmist says in Psalm 119:130, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

Imagine waking up each morning with a heart overflowing with peace and joy, no matter what challenges the day may bring. Every thought, every action, flows from a deep awareness of God’s presence and his fulfilled promises. Your life becomes like a river that never stops flowing, an unending stream of praise and thanksgiving to God. This is what happens when you let the Word of God dwell in you richly and transform your life. From that moment on, nothing, no circumstance, no trial, no setback can steal the joy and gratitude that have taken root in your heart.

2. It is what God wants for You and I

Many don’t realize this, but God wants your daily life to be filled with endless praise and thanksgiving to Him. He doesn’t want the activities or challenges of your day to distract you from Him, because if they pull you away, they might defeat you.

We know the heart of God on this because the Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

When I read this verse, it struck me deeply. I declared that if this is what the Lord wants from me, then this is exactly what He will receive. From that moment on, I further committed that every breath, every thought, and every action of my life would be an offering of worship, praise, and thanksgiving to God. I would live as a “living sacrifice,” holy and acceptable unto Him, just as the Apostle Paul instructed us to; “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

This is the life God wants for us, because He knows that when we dwell in praise and thanksgiving, we rise above challenges and trials. That means when we continually remain in a place of thanksgiving, we are constantly above the challenges and trials of this world. This is amazing - that is the life I now live. The world has nothing on me! Hallelujah!

We see this in the lives of many in the Bible. When they were faced with life’s tests, instead of focusing on lying vanities, they gave thanksgiving to God. As the Bible shows, they quickly rose above their trials.

One powerful example is found in Judah. Three nations surrounded Judah, preparing to attack. The king of Judah prayed and cried out to God for deliverance. God answered with a remarkable strategy: He instructed that singers be placed in front of the army, praising God as they marched to war. Can you imagine that? The Bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 20:22-23 (KJV): “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another.”

This principle is echoed in the New Testament as well. Paul and Silas, imprisoned in Philippi for preaching the Gospel, could have despaired. Yet, even in chains and suffering, they chose to sing and pray, giving thanks to God. And the result was miraculous: “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s chains were loosed.”

Their praise became the vehicle for God’s power to break their chains.

This is exactly what God wants from us at all times, but especially when we face the trials and tribulations of life: that our gaze be fixed on Him, rather than on the current state of things, and He will cause us to triumph.

3. All things work together for our good

Paul made no exceptions in this verse; he said “ALL THINGS.” No matter how dire the situation might seem, when you find yourself in a difficult place in life, do not be perturbed. Instead, remember that all things work together for your good. And in everything, give thanks.

Ever since I came to understand this truth, nothing in this world can move me, because I know I am standing on the solid rock that cannot be shaken.

Look at the attitude of Jesus on the boat during the storm. When the disciples woke Him, He was disappointed with them because they allowed themselves to be shaken by the storm. God doesn’t want us to be moved by the storms of life; He wants us to be bold and strong in the face of adversity, trusting completely in Him.

When you let the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:28 dwell in you richly, you can’t help but offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God every day of your life. It pours from within you like an unending stream, it becomes a built-in part of who you are - your nature. You simply can’t help it, because now you know that in the movie of life, the story always ends in your victory.

It Is so easy to live a glorious life in Christ Jesus. You just have to study and listen to His Word, allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and guide you into all truth. And when He does, act on the words you have received, and you will win every time.

It Is my prayer that by the end of this article, you will have decided that your life will be an unending stream of praise and thanksgiving to God. This is the life God wants for you - decide today and act on the words you have read.

As I grow in my walk with God, my fellowship with Him and my experience of His blessings have also deepened. In fact, my spirit has changed so profoundly that I now find myself in what I call “a constant state of gratitude”.

This has inspired me to write these letters as an expression of the love He has planted in my heart and the beauty with which He has filled my life.

If there is any doubt about the limitations and flaws of men, look no further than the works of even the most brilliant minds, the governments that rule our nations, and the history written with the acts of men.

One thing should be obvious to anyone paying attention: man does not hold the solution to all of its problems, nor the answer to all of its questions. Take the United States government, for example, constantly staffed by alumni of prestigious Ivy League universities and shaped by over 250 years of history, it still does not possess the solutions to all its problems or the answers to all its questions

What, then, should man be hopeful for? What should we look forward to in this life? Are we to simply endure these realities, bound by our limitations, until we destroy what remains of our planet and render it uninhabitable for future generations? No, we don’t have to. That is the reason for the season, the season of Christmas; that is why countless people around the world are celebrating today.

But what exactly is this celebration about? Our joy can only be complete when we truly understand the meaning of today. Christmas changed the life of every man for the better; it altered the course of humanity forever. But how?

The celebration is about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, who, through His coming, fulfilled the prophecy of redemption. By laying down His life, He paid the ultimate price for mankind, offering humanity the gift of eternal life and the opportunity to live a purposeful existence.

Yet Christmas does not end there. It is a celebration layered with fulfilled promises and blessings from God toward man, an eternal story that will be discussed forever. In this article, however, we will focus on six significance of Christmas.

1.      Christmas Tells The Story of A Messiah, the Savior of the whole world

For thousands of years before the coming of Christ, God spoke through many characters in the bible who prophesied about the coming Messiah, the One who would save the world and the signs that would follow Him.

One of the clearest of these prophecies was given through the prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 9:6-7;

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

As one reads through the Old Testament, there are repeated references to the coming of Jesus. The children of Israel anticipated his arrival so deeply that news of the expected Messiah reached King Herod, who out of fear of losing his throne ordered the killing of male children born around that time in an attempt to prevent the birth of Jesus. Yet, despite human opposition, the Messiah still came.

The Bible clearly tells us why Jesus came; He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10)And to give life in abundance (John 10:10).

Jesus did not come to condemn, destroy, or judge sinful humanity, but to save mankind and grant eternal life through His finished work. Everyone should know that salvation has been made available through the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and that through Him we now have the power to receive eternal life. John 17:4.

2.      Christmas is a powerful expression of God’s love toward mankind.

Jesus is the manifestation of the father’s goodness to us, his loving kindness was enclosed in a human being and sent to us; ‘’And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us’’- John 1:14

The Bible declares this love so clearly:

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

Almighty God could have chosen to end mankind’s existence after humanity rebelled against Him. However, that was not the decision of an all-loving God. Instead, He provided a solution for mankind, inspired entirely by His love.

The apostle John explains it this way in 1st John 4:9;

This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.

Jesus Himself further defines the depth of this love in John 15:13;

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

If Jesus was truly God in the flesh, and yet humbled Himself to be crucified by the very people He came to save, can we truly comprehend such love? Can the human mind fully grasp the magnitude of love displayed toward mankind by the Supreme Being?

This is, indeed, the greatest love story ever told.

3.      Christmas tells the story of Man’s true value

The Bible reveals the price that was paid for our redemption:

Hebrews 9:12;

He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption.

If you have ever wondered how much your life is worth, look no further than the price that was paid for it.

Ephesians 1:7

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

There was no other price worthy of paying for mankind than the blood of the Son of God; God in the flesh. That is the value placed on humanity. Oh, how priceless we are in His sight!

That is the story of Christmas: no one can ever make you feel insignificant again, for your worth is greater than anything this world could ever afford.

4.      Christmas tells the Glory Life Christ has brought us into

1st Peter 2:9 says

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

This verse beautifully tells the story of everyone who has received salvation through Jesus Christ. Through His finished work, His death and glorious resurrection, Christ has rescued us from darkness, the realm of sin and separation, and brought us into His marvelous light.

In that light, we receive new life, a new identity, and the gift of eternal life. We are no longer defined by our past or our sinful nature, but by who we are in Him, chosen, redeemed, and dearly loved.

Eternal life is the God-kind of life, the very essence of divinity. This is the life now lived by those who are in Christ Jesus because of Christmas. It is not a future promise alone; it is our present reality and our unchanging truth.

1 John 5:11 states this clearly:

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

Many love to say, “Jesus is the reason for the season,” and that is absolutely true. Yet Jesus came for a reason, and that reason is you and me, and indeed the whole world.

So yes, while Jesus is the reason for the season, he made the season about us, so we are also the reason for the season, the beloved recipients of God’s great gift of life.

5.      Christmas tells the Story of a Powerless and Defeated Devil

Genesis 3:15 (KJV)

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

In the Garden of Eden, God spoke about the coming of Jesus and foretold that the devil would be defeated by the Seed of Abraham.

This prophecy was fulfilled through Jesus’ death and resurrection:

Colossians 2:14-15 (KJV)“

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; [15] and having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

Hebrews 2:14 (KJV)

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.”

Many Christians still live in fear of the devil, unaware that he no longer possesses authority. He thrives on ignorance and fear, using it to harm lives.

The Christmas story, however, reminds us that the devil is defeated. Through Christ, he is powerless, and God’s glory reigns supreme.

6.      Christmas is the Fulfilment of Prophecies Across Thousands of Years

Christmas is the fulfilment of prophecy spoken over thousands of years, beginning with God Himself in the Garden of Eden and continuing through Moses, David, Isaiah, Micah, and Zechariah, all pointing to the birth of Jesus Christ.

(i) God Himself: The First Promise (Genesis 3:14–15)

Prophecy: The Seed of the woman would crush the serpent’s head.

(ii) Moses: A Coming Deliverer (Deuteronomy 18:15)

Prophecy: God would raise up a Prophet like Moses for the people to listen to.

(iii) David: The Promised King (Psalm 132:11)

Prophecy: The Messiah would come from David’s lineage and reign forever.

(iv) Isaiah: The Miraculous Child (Isaiah 7:14)

Prophecy: A virgin would conceive, and the child would be called Immanuel, meaning God with us.

(v) Micah: The Birthplace of the Messiah (Micah 5:2)

Prophecy: The ruler of Israel would be born in Bethlehem.

(vi) Zechariah: The Humble King (Zechariah 9:9; 12:10)

Prophecy: The King would come humble and would later be pierced.

All of these prophecies were fulfilled by the coming of Jesus, without exception: (Matthew 1-2; Luke 1-2)

These and many more are the blessings that mankind has graciously received and continues to enjoy because of Christmas. So, what is the celebration truly about? It is a celebration of the reincarnation of the one true living God in flesh, thanksgiving to the ever-gracious and loving God for the life we have received and now live, a celebration of victory over circumstances, strongholds, and the limitations of this world. Christmas is all about Jesus, but in His love, Jesus made it all about mankind.
