This is that story, and how Christianity still has a Goddess, though Christians will fight you on that one.

Archaeological Evidence of God’s Wife

In 1975, archaeologists excavated a remote desert outpost in the eastern Sinai peninsula (Kuntillet ‘Ajrud). They found large ceramic storage jars (pithoi) covered in drawings and early Hebrew text.

Several inscriptions explicitly invoke blessings by

"Yahweh of Samaria and his Asherah"

And

"Yahweh of Teman and his Asherah."

Deep inside Judah territory, at Khirbet el-Qom, archaeologists discovered an 8th-century BCE burial tomb with an inscription carved into a pillar.

It reads:

"Blessed be Uriyahu by Yahweh... for from his enemies by his asherah he has saved him."

These inscriptions date to the 8th century BCE, before Bible writers systematically began railing against Asherah.

BTW, I don’t think they masterminded a patriarchal elimination of the divine feminine. The divine feminine cannot be wiped out.

The believers who penned parts of the Hebrew Bible were religious fanatics whom biblical scholars refer to as ‘Yahwists’ (though they would not have referred to themselves as such).

Who Were the Yahwists?

A fanatical cult of believers who held that Yahweh was the only one Israel should be tangling with.

Here’s why I don’t believe they were seeking to systematically destroy the Goddess: they were against EVERY god that wasn’t Yahweh.

Remember, the Hebrew Bible is full of gods.

It’s literally teeming with gods… Dagon, Ba’als of different peoples, Chemosh, the Divine Council (known as the bene elohim or sons of god) and on and on and on.

They were trying to wipe ALL other gods and goddesses out who weren’t Yahweh.

Nothing short of what you would expect from a fanatical cult that is devoted to one specific deity among a sea of others.

The Smoking Gun

If inscriptions aren’t evidence enough, let’s talk about the THOUSANDS of terracotta statues, sized 4 to 8 inches tall, of a female figure with robust breasts. Archaeologists have unearthed these figurines all over Judah—but rarely outside of it.

From the chest down, they’re shaped like a solid pillar (which could reflect the wooden “Asherah pole” or a stylized tree).

These are clearly symbols of fertility, childbirth, motherhood and nursing. Women would have had these in their homes for such to promote and protect these natural processes by petitioning the Goddess.

Mind you, these were not found in temples. They are typically found in domestic contexts, such as houses, cisterns, and domestic trash pits.

What does that mean?

It means that these goddesses would have likely been in almost every home in ancient Judah from the 8th century until the Babylonian destruction in 586 BCE.

Archaeological Consensus

Most archaeologists and scholars identify these figurines as representations of Asherah (or a closely related fertility goddess).

Yes, the Goddess was in just about every home.

The sheer volume of the figurines indicates that household devotion to her was a staple of everyday Judean life, likely used by women in rituals related to fertility, childbirth, and nursing.

The Return

When exiles returned to Jerusalem after the Babylonian destruction and exile, they were intent on wiping out every other god that wasn’t Yahweh.

That was the assignment.

And they took it seriously.

It worked.

For awhile.

Then, without any particular cult to drive her cause, or any particular fanatical movement, we have the emergence of Sophia…

Sophia

Sophia is the Greek word for “Wisdom,” but her roots begin in the Hebrew texts as Chokhmah (a feminine noun).

Her earliest major attestation as a personified, divine feminine entity occurs in the Book of Proverbs (specifically Chapter 8), which took its final textual form around the 5th to 4th century BCE (after the Jewish exile in Babylon).

In this text, she is not just a human trait; she declares that she was the very first of God’s creations and acted as the master architect beside Him when the universe was formed.

Notable quotes from chapter 8 of the book of Proverbs:

In verses 15 and 16 she declares that all earthly rulers are under her command:

^{15 “}By me kings reign,
and princes decree justice.
¹⁶ By me princes rule,
nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.”

In verses 22 and 23 she states she was the first creation:

²² “The Lord brought me forth as the first of his works,
before his deeds of old;
²³ I was formed long ages ago,
at the very beginning, when the world came to be.”

In verse 30 she outright states that she is co-creator:

“…I was the craftsman by his side.”

Wow.

They attempted to kill Asherah, and Sophia immediately arises.

She’s still with us today, in the Christian faith, as Wisdom personified.

Underground, Not Gone

Many critical scholars (such as Margaret Barker) argue that Asherah didn’t disappear; she went “underground” and was transmuted into Lady Wisdom.

The physical goddess was erased, but her archetype survived in the text.

This is why Proverbs 3:18 literally says of Wisdom: “She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her”—a direct, unmistakable callback to the Asherah pole.

Christianity’s Goddess

Christianity’s unmistakable Goddess is Sophia. She’s not the only one. In some circles, Christianity’s undisputed Goddess is Mother Mary.

Billions of Catholics the world over have spoken trillions of Hail Mary’s over centuries.

No one who sought to wipe out the Divine Feminine had any hope of success. The Divine Feminine is unstoppable, unable to be wiped out or sidelined.

We all have a mother.

As does Christianity.

I could make money in real estate.

I could make money as a financial advisor (I’m a former financial advisor with American Express).

I could make money in network marketing (though I swore off the MLM industry years ago).

I could make money doing just about everything else...

EXCEPT what I was born to do.

Spiritual work.

Magick.

Teaching manifestation.

Being an inspiration.

Spiritual life coaching.

I was losing it. Frustrated and mad.

I knew I had gifts. I knew I had a calling. I knew I was meant to help people awaken, heal, prosper, and transform their lives.

And yet, somewhere deep within me, there was a hidden agreement that whispered:

“You can make money... just not this way.”

Not through your soul’s work, or through your purpose, or doing the thing you love MOST.

Something had to give.

I was willing to do neither.

I Looked Everywhere For a SOLUTION (Desperately!)

I tried every abundance or money manifestation thing you can think of.

Coaching.

Courses.

Books.

Events.

Anything that promised to unlock the block.

They all added to the transformation, and there was one practice that worked more powerfully than all the others.

And the transformation was permanent.

The Solution

That practice was John Randolph Price’s Principles of Abundance from the little green Abundance Book.

It’s not flashy or complicated.

It’s a simple 40-day process with 10 statements of truth.

One statement each day for ten days.

You repeat the cycle four times, for a total of forty days.

I’ve returned to this process again and again over the years.

Every single time, a new and deep change manifested greater results AND rewards.

A fear dissolved or a limitation cracked open or some hidden money beliefs surfaced and floated away.

Most importantly, my abundance block melted!

This is what I’ve discovered from coaching clients as a professional spiritual life coach for 21 years:

Abundance blocks don’t just disappear.

Nor do they leave all at once.

It took years—sometimes decades—for us to build the walls we’ve erected around receiving.

Why would we expect them to crumble overnight?

Some of these blocks have hardened into boulders.

There are 3 significant steps in using the Bible for spells and rituals:

1. Get over your unfounded religious beliefs about the Bible. I grew up in the cult of Jehovah’s Witnesses (yes, they’re Christian, even though many people think they aren’t) who taught me that the Bible was the inerrant word of God (that applied to their Bible since they have their own version). They taught us it came straight from God’s mouth, written through human hands, and therefore it is wholly inspired, which to them means God-breathed. I found out for myself that this was never true. The Bible has no inherent meaning. Therefore, like any large collection of disparate literature, it can be used for any purpose.

2. Get over your fear that God will be displeased with you and punish you if you do magick or practice witchcraft. This is a big one, and an issue I see people struggle with for years. Religious conditioning runs deep. Long after we come to realize that the ideas espoused in Christianity are false in the way they are presented to us, we still may suffer with a fear of all things occult that lingers for decades.

3. Learn Christian Witchcraft. This sounds easy, yet it’s not. When I started on my path of witchcraft, there were no books on Christian Witchcraft. Unlike Wicca, and other forms of paganism and magick, there was nothing about how to be a Christian Witch, or any stories of people who were successfully doing it. Yes, here and there were a couple of people talking about it. Yet the information on the topic was nowhere near the information available for other paths and forms of magick.

I can help with #3. Numbers 1 and 2 are on you. While others cans show us how they freed themselves from guilt and fear, they cannot free another. Each person must choose to do the spiritual work of freeing their own mind.

Scripture Sorcery

This is why I’m choosing to teach Scripture Sorcery this weekend at the Christian Witches Convention. It’s a taboo subject, with all kinds of warnings in place from would-be caring Christians who think they’re looking out for your soul, when in actuality, they are in your spiritual lane and need to stay in theirs.

Scripture Sorcery is about gaining insight and understanding into Bible verses and/or chapters or whole passages, and adapting them to your intention, for a powerful result.

Why does it work?

Glad you asked.

For me (and other Christian Witches may see this differently), it works because the Bible is a widely used book with lots of energetic intention already embedded within its pages.

When I say “The Lord is my shepherd…” something moves in me and in other people. Not everyone. Some people. For those people, the Bible can be a powerful source of magickal invocations, prayers, spells, rituals and all manner of witchcraft wordology.

I don’t think the Bible is off limits for magick and witchcraft.

Neither do Hoodoos. Hoodoo practitioners have long used the Bible for healing and manifestation work, for drawing luck and for more purposes than I can speak of in one post.

It becomes easier to do magick and witchcraft with the Bible by your side after you’ve melted guilt and fear out of your way.

Self love is the basis for your entire evolution as a God-being. Why would you undertake (and continue) on a path as arduous as evolving consciousness were it not for a depth of love within yourself, FOR yourself that keeps you on the path?

Self love is the key.

To everything.

With that established, here’s a simple Self Love Candle Burning Ritual to deepen into the greatest love EVER, for YOURSELF.

It’s not selfish. It’s self-FULL.

Ingredients:

• Sagrada Madre Hand Rolled Incense with Rose & Olibanum (Frankincense) - I LOVE this hand rolled incense! The rose scent is DEE-LISH.

• Florida Water - for purification and cleansing the body in a sacred bath. Also can be used as a floor wash when added to water and a wall wash. Can also be used to cleanse your altar, the candle you’ll be using and any implements involved in your ritual.

• Palo Santo or Sage - for purification/clearing (this is my FAVE Palo Santo sourced from Peru)

• Rosemary - for cutting through any energies other than self love (while I was in Peru, a shaman literally beat us with rosemary bushes before entering the Ayahuasca ceremony. While it didn’t hurt, you could feel that he removed a BUNCH of stagnant and unwanted energy.)

• Roses - buy yourself a beautiful bouquet of roses and use the fresh or dried petals.

• Hibiscus Flowers

• Lavender Flowers

• Pink Candle (included in the witchcraft kit or candle kit)

• Olive Oil

• Crystals you intuitively select to surround your candle.

Ritual Steps

1. Set your intention. Write it out clearly in your grimoire, spell book, or your Witch’s Bible.

2. Cleanse & clear your space with Florida Water, Sage and/or Palo Santo.

3. Cleanse and clear yourself with a sacred bath infused with Florida Water, rose petals and rosemary.

4. Light the Rose and Frankincense incense.

5. Meditate for 20 minutes on self love to deepen it within yourself.

6. Arrange your altar.

7. Bless and cleanse your candle.

8. Blend rose petals, rosemary, hibiscus and lavender with your pestle and mortar.

9. Dress your candle by rolling it in olive oil, then rolling it in the flower and herb mixture.

10. Carve into your candle hearts (or your name, or any other message you desire).

11. Burn your candle in silence and meditation, falling deeper and deeper into the well of love within yourself.

When the candle has completed burning, give thanks. Your ritual is complete. Conduct yourself with a new depth of self love. Say ‘no’ to any and all that does not honor you.

As a fundamentalist Christian, I was told that Tarot was of the devil. “The devil’s picture book” is what they called it.

While I was there, I didn’t know any better.

Glad you asked! Let’s explore what it is and, if you’re inspired, how to create your own and what to record in it.

A Witch’s Bible is a book of witchcraft you create to house your magickal and mystical notes, secrets and workings. While you’ll hear this type of book referred to as a ‘grimoire’ or ‘Book of Shadows’, I call mine a Witch’s Bible.

It could be that the word ‘bible’ suits me as a Christian Witch because my subconscious understands well the value of a bible, so it’s easy to apply the principle to witchcraft.

You could create more than one Witch’s Bible and have each focused on a specific area of your magickal life. I have an entire book devoted to Kabbalah, for instance.

If you choose to create one or more, your Witch’s Bible contains:

• Spells and all correspondences, including ingredients, incantations, when to cast, etc.

• Your Spirit Team of ancestors, guides, angels and even animal familiars or helpers you work with. This is the cast of beings you work with beyond the 3D world to effect change and ascend.

• Divination methods to include Tarot, oracle cards, pendulums, tea leaves, cowrie shells, bones and other methods of divination, how you use them and your best kept secrets along with notes and drawings.

• Rituals for moon cycles, the equinoxes and solstices, coming of age rituals, baby blessings, house blessings, weddings/partnerings and more.

• Herbs, plants, flowers, essential oils and all natural items are also recorded in your Witch’s Bible. Witches use limitless items from nature for healing, spell work, cleansing and purification, rituals, teas and more. Record your natural substances, what they’re used for and notes and drawings (if desired).

• Meditation, visioning, prayers and daily spiritual practices that ascend you as a witch and your magick, rituals and spell work. Write out daily spiritual protocols, breath work sequences, tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), mantras, and all that lifts your consciousness to the highest planes before, during and after your formal spell work and rituals.

• Sigils and notes, steps and ideas on sigil magick.

• People you love and hold dear and your highest dreams for them.

• Anything else you desire to record, keep notes on, draw out, or keep track of related to your magick, witchcraft and rituals.

How To Create Your Witch’s Bible in 4 Steps

Now that we’ve talked about what a Witch’s Bible is, if you desire to create your own, here are guiding steps (not to be followed as rule or law. Witches don’t abide rules.) These are simply ideas, inspiration, and starting points or jumping off places to fan the flames of your OWN MAGICK that lives inside YOU. Nothing outside of yourself holds the answers for you.

Step 1 - Set your intention.

What do you intend to accomplish with this particular Witch’s Bible? Ideas of intentions:

• to be a better spell crafter

• to be a better spell caster

• to observe and note the timeline of your spells and when they manifest

• to get better at ritual creation

• to manifest a new home, lover, great wealth, expand your business, etc.

• to heal a bodily issue

• to create a Coven

• to introduce new magickal practices that you’re unfamiliar with, such as the Feast of the Dead Ritual

• to make sure your subconscious understands that you are a full blown witch/wizard/warlock

Step 2 - Allow the PERFECT notebook, journal, sketch book to appear before you.

It’s important that you don’t go looking for your Witch’s Bible. It must come to you. Trust that it will appear in front of you. This is a magickal book, that will be full of magick. It aligns that you would allow it to come to you by magickal means. When it appears, you’ll instantly know it. Take action and procure it (especially if it’s a little pricey). The Universe could be signaling to you to invest more in your magick for outstanding results, and drawing you further out of any lack or limitation in the mind when it comes to magick and witchcraft. This path requires investment.

Of course, keep within reasonable financial resource usage for you. Just keep in mind that magickal tools, items and implements will now be a line item in your financial spending plan.

FYI, I have more than one Witch’s Bible. They all cost more than I was expecting, yet I bought them anyway and never regretted the investment. Besides, you’ll have this book for decades.

Step 3 - Cleanse, clear, purify, consecrate, dedicate and bind your Witch’s Bible.

When it appears in front of you, here are steps you can take with your new Witch’s Bible:

• Cleansed and cleared - run it through the smoke of palo santo or sage. Open the book and be sure the pages are also cleansed with the smoke.

• Purified - perform purification rites over your Witch’s Bible of incantations that clear ANY and ALL energies from any person, store, manufacturing facility, truck or mode of transport it has been on, boxes, shipping containers and more. FREE it of ANY and ALL energies in this purification rite. For me, purification is a deeper cleansing and clearing.

• Consecrated and dedicated - you now consecrate your Witch’s Bible for the purpose of your witchcraft, spell work, rituals and magick. Consecration and dedication make the purpose of your Witch’s Bible clear to you, it and the Universe. It is a consecrated and dedicated tool for your magickal purposes, and thus will be imbued with energy.

• Bound - to you. Bind the book to you. You could use a binding ritual with cords, rope or ribbon, or you could bind it with a bit of your blood in the book. However you choose to bind it, it will answer and respond to no one except you. To go steps further, you could cast cloaking spells on it so that no find it or read it.

Your intuition will lead you through these steps, or modify the steps, or add other steps. Or, you can join us in the Christian Witches Mystery School for detailed discussion of how to do this, and ideas from many other Christian Witches.

Step 4 - Make filling it a ritual.

This is the fun part! Set aside times that you will fill your Witch’s Bible. Moon cycles are perfect, since you may be conducting rituals anyway. You can fill your Witch’s Bible as you go through the steps of your moon cycle rituals.

Use purple pens or dragon’s blood ink if desired. Write in a magickal hand writing style that amplifies your magick.

Draw in it for clarity and to make it visually interesting, unique and evocative. Your Witch’s Bible can inspire you to more magick! Place items in it that are of special note, such as:

• dried leaves, herbs, flowers, etc.

• ribbon or cords you use for binding magick

• greetings cards you receive

• anything special you’d like to keep in it

I call these blood magicks: yes, magicks with an ‘s’ to denote multiple magickal traditions running through your veins and abiding in your bones.

Here you’ll discover 3 methods to reveal the magicks lurking beneath the surface of your skin. The intention of this conversation?

1. Awareness: most people have no clue as to what magick they have access to, on an ancestral level.

2. Access: the forces in your blood and bones can be tapped for health, wealth, happiness, love relationships, living your purpose, growing a successful business, world travel and anything you desire. Magick is practical.

3. Activate: awaken dormant forces in your blood and bones for supercharged rituals and spells that work beyond your comprehension.

Method #1: DNA Testing

This may sound like a strange start to a conversation about blood magick, yet it’s the easiest to quantify, and anything that can be quantified is helpful in the realm of spirituality where much can be claimed without evidence.

As a Witch, I take a magickal perspective and tend to view things through the lens of witchcraft and magick.

I also love science, and the scientific method. I’m a Libra. As an air sign, logic comes naturally and automatic. It can be my default if I’m not careful. Because I love logic, science and critical thinking, and highly encourage it for all who I have the opportunity to teach and serve, I will include logic and science in my magickal workings where there’s harmonic convergence.

I do not require science to prove spirituality, or magick, or that Witchcraft works. I know these potent forces from decades of personal spiritual practice in an ongoing question and answer conversation with the Universe, through rituals and spell work in a walk with Spirit that is undeniable.

While I do not require science to prove my spiritual experiences and resulting knowing, I look for points where magick, spirituality and science align.

This is a sweet spot for me.

Back to this first method of uncovering your magickal roots.

Once you’ve submitted a DNA sample to a provider who can trace your ancestry with accuracy, examine the results. Here’s how, using my ancestry as an example:

My DNA results:

• Nigeria

• Benin & Togo

• Scotland

This is a partial list of the most prominent aspects of my ancestry. Many of us are descendants of people from multiple races and cultures. While some would look at my ancestry and say that the colonizers and slave trade had much to do with the mix in my blood, I look at it differently.

Though a portion of my ancestors traversed the middle passage as slaves, some may have traversed as free people from Scotland making new lives for themselves.

Do not judge your ancestry.

We’re simply seeking to reveal, access and activate the magicks that lives in our blood and bones, regardless of how it got there.

Either way, you have what you have, and ancestry in this incarnation cannot be changed. On a soul level, you chose it all, so this would make your entire ancestral line perfect for you as a soul and the lessons you’re learning in this incarnation.

Next, let’s examine the magicks from each of these lineages:

• Nigeria - Yoruba

• Benin & Togo - Vodun

• Scotland - Scottish Witchcraft & Folk Magic

As you can see, this is a rich starting place. It could literally take decades to unwrap all the magick here, and master it.

Since you’re in this lifetime to do just that, dive right in! Being a powerful witch requires study, contemplation, and action. There’s no better place to start than with yourself. Know Thyself is the first lesson in the Covenant of Christian Witches Mystery School (CCW for short). When students enter CCW, we start with a pivotal lesson: KNOW THYSELF.

This fits perfectly with that ethos.

Let’s examine more deeply the magicks revealed in my DNA testing:

• Nigeria - Yoruba: a spiritual path that honors the Orisha (Gods/Goddesses), venerates ancestors, practices divination to understand the best path forward with Divine guidance, and can be an initiatory path for those who are called to it, and has priests and priestesses who are keepers of the tradition and who pass on knowledge to initiates and walkers of the path. An important note is that Santeria — which is a spiritual path syncretizing Yoruba and Roman Catholicism — is another way those who traversed the middle passage kept their spirituality alive and thriving. Other closely associated syncretic spiritual paths are Lukumi, The 21 Divisions and Candomblé, though each has their own spirits, traditions, rituals, offerings and initiatory practices. Some have European elements woven in, and are practiced throughout the Caribbean, making these traditions far more universal than their origins.

• Benin & Togo - Vodun: a multidimensional, complex and varied belief system and spiritual path that has morphed as it traveled from its birthplace in Benin, West Africa to the Caribbean, Haiti and into the Americas, with a unique flavor in New Orleans. Also spelled Voodoo or Voodou or Vodoun, the spiritual path has intrigued me so much that I decided I would visit the annual Vodoun Festival, the biggest in the world celebrating this tradition.

• Scotland - Scottish Witchcraft & Folk Magic: I finally discovered where my inexplicable fascination with Scottish culture, folk tales, ghost and fae stories and Scottish Witchcraft is sourced in: they live in my blood through ancestry.

How To Work With This Information

Now that you may have discovered 3-4 traditions in the most prominent aspects of your ancestry, proceed by:

• Research: begin to research all the magicks that live in your blood. Are you familiar with the traditions revealed by the spiritual paths and magickal traditions honored by your ancestors? What Gods/Goddesses were they connected to? What were their holy days or feast days or sacred times during the year? What practices are still alive in your family that may have roots in magick practiced by your ancestors centuries or even millennia ago?

• Listen: tune in to the spirit world and listen carefully for your ancestors and especially for the deities they were connected with. You’ll hear the gentle whisper deep in your soul, igniting the flame of remembrance and guiding you in the best path for you.

• Act: take action by erecting altars in your sacred space that honor the ancestors and the spirits they were connected to. You are connected to these spirits too, and they may have been speaking with you for this entire incarnation.

Though I have not been initiated in either Yoruba or Vodoun, and I do not currently practice Scottish Witchcraft, I draw deeply on all these traditions as spiritual sustenance.

In the ATR’s (African Traditional Religions) the ‘ori’ is the head and is understood to be ruled by an Orisha (god/goddess or more accurately, an aspect of divinity) who accompanies one throughout a lifetime, much like a Guardian Angel. I am in contact the Orisha who rules my head and honor her. This is part of the magick that lives in my blood.

I also speak with and seek guidance from the ancestors as a regular spiritual practice. This too is from my ancestry.

Examining your ancestry closely for these magicks doesn’t mean you’ll be initiated in all of them. It means you’re a seeker on the path who’s going deep within your self to reveal the hidden power within.

If it’s helpful for you to do this kind of spiritual work in a group space (as many of the above traditions do), the Christian Witches Mystery School could prove helpful.

Method #2: Ancestral Meditation

Be still each morning during the ‘Witching Hour’ (3 AM to 6 AM) for 20 minutes to 1 hour to connect with and establish unbreakable communication with your ancestors.

In Yoruba culture, dead family members are often buried on the family’s land, a practice designed to foster close physical and spiritual connection with the dead.

Though your ancestors may not be buried near you, they are vested in your ascension, since their ascension is your ascension and vice versa. They will be happy to speak with you, filling in missing details of family spiritual traditions and practices, as some of this information has come to us fragmented.

Document these sessions with your ancestors in your grimoire or a book dedicated to ancestral communication.

Method #3: Dumb Supper aka Feast of the Dead

The Dumb Supper is a potent way to contact ancestors and other loved ones who are on the other side of the veil, and is usually held on October 31st (Samhain for Wiccans). Though I am not Wiccan, I’ve learned much from the tradition.

The meal is eaten — in the presence of the ancestors and loved ones who have crossed over — in complete silence. Hence the name. If I were to put it simply, I’d call it a seance with a meal.

I was taught observance and instructions for the Dumb Supper from a group of witches that met regularly, called The Most Excellent Order of the Black Hat. I attended several meetings as I was finding my way as a baby witch. In one of the gatherings in October they spoke of the Dumb Supper, its meaning and significance for witches, especially at that time of year when the veil is thin.

I followed the steps and held my own Dumb Supper with the intention of contacting my mother and grandmother, both of whom reside in the realm of the ancestors.

The experience was so paradigm shifting that I’ve conducted it again and taught it in a master class. I’ll be teaching it in the Mystery School as we get closer to that time of the year.

In my book How to Be a Christian Witch, I adjusted the name to suit my practice. I now call it the Feast of the Dead. It seemed fitting. Name it what you like, and what most suits your ritual practice.

What does this have to do with the magicks in your blood?

• You can ask that auntie who was rumored in the family to have practiced the craft to find out what she was doing.

• You can find out specifics of rituals and spells that any of your ancestors may have conducted.

• You can ask for wisdom for your path from your ancestors directly, while in a ritual meal.

I’ve found the Feast of the Dead to be paradigm shifting in the deepest way, and a potent reminder that there is a thin veil between dimensions, one that can be traversed by the witch, who resides in the liminal space between worlds.

Conclusion

There are many ways to activate the magicks in your blood and bones. Unfortunately, many of us are activated into magick and the craft through traumatic experiences, though it doesn’t have to be that way.

We can intentionally and proactively seek the magicks in our blood, contact our ancestors, meditate and receive the guidance and insight we’re seeking on how to best practice our unique and individual practice of witchcraft.

The Bible is not inspired by God, nor is it about God.

The Bible is not a holy book, nor is it a sacred book or a spiritual book.

This may be the image that comes to mind when thinking about the ‘God’ of the Bible, the dangerous, jealous, megalomaniacal entity who demands worship or else…

The Real God Is Not in the Bible

When I proclaim these shocking statements on the Christian Witches YouTube channel and the Christian Witches TikTok, inevitable questions arise from our beloved community:

• If the Bible is not about God, what is it about?

• If the real God is not in the Bible, where is the real God?

• If the Bible is not a holy book, how did it come to be used by churches worldwide as the inerrant word of God?

• How and where did you acquire this information?

Excellent questions from minds willing to expand into uncomfortable realms of knowledge, also known as the occult.

Before answering the questions, let’s address how I came to these unconventional conclusions.

How It Started

Over 30 years ago I left the cult of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is where I’d been reared in Fundamentalist Christianity from the tender age of 3 or 4 until age 30 when I left, depressed, suicidal and unfulfilled.

I went on a search for truth. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant. I only knew that I HAD to embark on a quest of my own. The heroine was born.

First up in my spiritual studies: Buddhism. The books I read on it spoke deeply to my soul with a profound resonance.

When my mom (bless her soul now residing in the realm of the ancestors), who was still a faithful JW at the time, inquired worriedly about why I was reading such material. She was shocked and disappointed, after all she’d taught me about the ‘truth’ (the Witness way of saying that their religion is the ONLY truth).

“I love it ma. I’m learning so much, things I’ve never heard of before. It’s talking about meditation and being still and the mind. I haven’t found anything evil in it.”

Her response was shocking:

“The devil will make you think there’s nothing wrong with it, so he can capture you. It’s evil, and you must stay away.”

Her warning fanned the flames of my insatiable curiosity. Deeper down the rabbit hole I plunged with a red pill in my mouth: eventually leading to an in depth study of Tarot, witchcraft, magick and all things occult.

For the past 30+ years, I’ve studied these in light of what I know about the Bible. Intuitively, I knew the Bible was not what they told me it was.

Concurrent with reading and studying, my meditation practice flowered, and became the key to understanding on a deeper level the occult knowledge I was devouring from books and workshops.

The Ancient Alien Connection

I’ve always been intrigued by ideas of star people who visited planet earth long ago.

In the 1800’s over 30,000 cuneiform tablets were found in the city of Nineveh (modern day Iraq) in the ancient library of Ashurbanipal.

30,000 tablets! Wow! What a cache!

There was only one problem: no one could read them.

After years of comparative study, some of the tablets were translated with a plot twist of all plot twists:

The tablets contained Bible stories, such as Adam & Eve, the Tower of Babel, the flood narrative and more. AND… these stories were older than the Bible by millennia.

The Bible Is Not Original

In the wake of discovering the un-originality of the Bible, humanity is faced with a choice: we can study these ancient texts to decipher their meaning, or we can ignore the explosive findings.

I opted for the former.

Here are a few ancient Sumerian texts that the Bible was drawn from:

• Eridu Genesis

• Epic of Gilgamesh

• Atrahasis Epic

• Epic of Ziusudra

• Enuma Elish

Elohim = Anunnaki

The deeper I peered into the ancient Sumerian texts alongside the Bible, a strange truth emerged: the Elohim of the Bible are the Anunnaki of ancient Sumer.

Who are the Anunnaki?

Star travelers.

Beings from another plant who visited earth hundreds of thousands of years ago, catalyzing far reaching effects on humanity.

The Bible’s word for the Anunnaki is Elohim, which is a plural term. None of the explanations from ‘experts’ satisfied why the plural word is used in the first verse, chapter and book of the Bible (quoted from the World English Bible):

While this post won’t go into the full explanation of the Anunnaki, it is enough to understand that the star travelers who appeared here eons ago have deeply influenced almost every area of human affairs, from the very beginning, when their genetic tinkering produced the equivalent of modern humans.

Wild Conspiracy Theories

While all of this smacks of a giant conspiracy theory, let us examine the facts closely with a multi-disciplinary approach, to include archeology, physics, biology, agriculture, geology, magick and witchcraft.

When we examine the evidence in this fashion, a shocking truth emerges:

The Bible is not about God at all, and never was.

The stories of human sacrifice, war, pestilence, fire from heaven, and all other ungodly shenanigans are all stories of the Elohim/Anunnaki, and not the true Infinite Source.

What a relief.

The ‘god’ of the Bible is not the Infinite Source.

We’ve been hoodwinked into believing that this book — while a potent collection of valuable literature — is the be-all-end-all word of God that everyone on planet earth is obliged to adhere to in every facet of life… or else.

My Dream

Last night in my dream I saw a green apple with a pin and a small piece of paper rolled up like a scroll with the intuitive knowing that this was a destruction spell that could carry away woes, if buried when completed.

I sat up in bed with a quickness.

Whoa…

A destruction spell?

I’m a big manifestation and transformation queen, so I have nowhere near as many destruction spells as I do spells for creation and transmutation.

There’s more.

I had the knowing that a Psalm was written on the tiny scroll pinned to the green apple.

The Psalm that came to mind?

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.” - Psalm 51:7 (KJV)

It looked something like this (I recreated the vision using Canva, though I am by no means a graphic artist!)

I responded by saying YES.

I found it’s best if I go with the insights, revelations, AHA’s, dreams, epiphanies and Satori moments from realms of consciousness beyond the thinking mind (which is seems to be the most limited of all).

YES!

I’ll create the spell.

So here it is:

You’ll require:

1. A fresh green apple. Ask the apple for permission to be used to help you release. The apple will take on negative energy and then be buried. We must ask its permission. If you sense it says yes, move forward with that apple. Do not move forward with any apple you’re not sure has given you permission for this working. Move forward only when you sense in your spirit you have the right apple.

2. A sewing pin. Not a needle. It must be a pin with a stop at the end. Note: a needle doesn’t have a clear stopping point like a pin does. This is a destruction spell in which we intend to bring an end to a manifestation, situation or experience.

3. A 4x4 square of paper.

4. A red pen. You could use also use dragon’s blood ink (commercially prepared, or make your own).

5. A spade or digging tool.

Steps:

1. Cleanse yourself and your space. This spell can be conducted at your altar or out in nature (which is preferable). I give specific cleansing instructions in the book Spell Crafting for the Christian Witch: A Compendium of Magick.

2. Invoke & honor your spirit team. Ancestors, spirit guides, guardians, ascended masters, angels, Gods & Goddesses you work with, etc.

3. Set the space. Light candles, burn incense and your usual protocols for engaging in magick and the craft or your rituals.

4. Cast a circle. If you desire, cast a circle for this spell (though it’s not entirely necessary).

5. Meditate. Close your eyes, deep breathe and center yourself for several moments until you feel the current of aliveness pulsing through you.

6. Call to mind the object of your destruction. A manifestation, situation or experience are usually what we’re desirous of getting rid of. A negative financial situation, debt, a jealous streak, insecurities, the tendency to make bad decisions, negative habits, such as arguing with one’s partner, procrastinating on important matters, or negative energies or entities that you intuitively sense may be surrounding you. As you call the object of destruction to your mind, see ALL the energy of it pouring out of you into the apple. ONLY after you sense ALL the energy you carry of this unwanted manifestation, situation or experience has been purged from your being, move to the next step. (Important Note: I do NOT use this spell to bring destruction to any living beings. I do not use baneful magick as I’ve taken a vow of harmlessness.)

7. Write your Psalm in red/dragon’s blood ink. On the square paper, write Psalm 51:7 or any Psalm or statement that represents PURGING and or GETTING RID of. Roll up the square piece of paper, scroll style.

8. Stab the apple. With a quick and stabbing motion, jab the pin through the scroll and into the apple. You are driving the verse into the heart of the apple to destroy the unwanted manifestation, situation or experience.

9. Bury the apple. Take the apple to nature (carefully wrap it if you must travel to get to nature). Make sure NO ONE touches the apple. Allow yourself to be led to an appropriate space in nature. Thank the earth for receiving the apple containing the object of your destruction. Then dig a hole, bury the apple and cover the hole completely and carefully. Cover it with leaves if you must so that NO ONE, not even animals, will tamper with the buried fruit.

10. Leave nature feeling clean and wholly purged of the unwanted manifestation, situation or experience.

The ritual is held in other witchcraft traditions on 10/31 and is labeled ‘dumb’ because it is undertaken in complete silence.

I’ve undertaken this ritual several times with my mother and grandmother (who are both on the other side of the veil, or as some would say ‘in the realm of the ancestors’) and it has been so moving every time that I write about it in the book WITCH (paid link).

Before we begin, it’s important to note that initiation takes place in ‘spirit’ realms or higher dimensions of consciousness before it takes place in the physical realm. This has been my experience in my initiations and in initiating others.

Let’s begin…

My Bizarre Religious Roots

When I first broke with traditional Christianity (I was raised in the cult of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent the better part of 26 years there from age 3-4 to near 30), I didn’t know I’d be initiated as a witch.

I just knew I had to leave where I was.

I was stifled.

Depressed,

The walls were closing in on me.

Fast.

I was like a ‘dead man walking’ with nothing to look forward to, other than being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the rest of my natural born days, which meant living in absolute rigidity.

I couldn’t do it.

I’d reached my fork. Either I would leave or I would die a long and slow, painful death.

Leaving the cult was preposterous to my conditioned mind. Where would I go? All my friends and associates were in bondage like me, in the very same cult.

Deeper than my conscious mind, there was a knowing that I had to leave, even if I didn’t know what I would do or where I would go next.

I didn’t need to know the next step to relinquish what I had.

My First Initiation

There was a gap between leaving Fundamentalist Christianity and my first initiation (a story I’ll cover in future articles). For now, let’s skip forward to witchcraft.

Over the process of several years of study and ridding myself of head trash I began to be deeply engaged in learning about Wicca.

This was over 25 years ago as of this writing. With an undeveloped internet, Barnes & Noble quickly became my best friend in learning on this new found spiritual path.

I gobbled book after book about Wicca, with Scott Cunningham being one of my favorite authors on the topic of magick and witchcraft.

Eventually, I was ready, mentally and spiritually, for my first initiation. A self-initiation is what it was called, and the idea spoke deeply to my soul.

I prepared relentlessly.

Select the appropriate day according to astrological correspondences.

Check.

Receive your new magickal name. I prayed and meditated until it came.

Check.

Prepare your implements. I went to the metaphysical store and gathered up all I was led to for the occasion.

Check.

Prepare yourself. Sage, cleansing and clearing my space and myself were time honored rituals at this point.

Check.

Set the space. Incense, which I was forbidden to use in the cult, was a mainstay in my spiritual practice. Altars were my love as well.

Check.

I performed the self initiation. And began use of the new magickal name, which I didn’t share with anyone.

I took careful note of all the happenings and associated thoughts, feelings and moves of Spirit that I could intuit in my grimoire.

I instantly felt different.

More powerful.

More ‘magickal’ somehow.

Like a real witch.

What Initiation Meant For Me

After the self initiation I realized that I’d just begun. Initiation was a ‘start’ and not an accomplishment.

The meaning is in the word itself: to initiate, to start.

Initiation didn’t mean I’d arrived, even though it was a pinnacle moment for me.

It meant that I’d committed:

• to my path as a witch…

• to live as a witch no matter how challenging it would become…

• to heal and use my gifts for benefit and not harm (I took a vow of harmlessness as well)…

• to teach and share what I would subsequently learn from books and practice…

• to be a boon to the witchy community as a whole…

• to do my part in helping humanity understand that we’ve all been duped about the true nature of witches and to be instrumental in shining a light on what witchcraft truly is, and not what Hollywood or the Church says it is…

And all else the initiation would call upon me to be and do over the course of my life, without knowing specifically what those would be.

I’ve never looked back.

Initiation Across Traditions

When witches join our community or connect with us, more often than not, they’ve come from traditional Christianity.

They’re de-converting or de-constructing, and no longer resonate with the Christian religion as a whole, though there are some aspects of it that are still dear to them.

Here are 3 examples of initiations:

African Traditional Religions (ATR’s)

Once they exit traditional Christianity, some turn to Yoruba or Santeria or others of the African Traditional Religions (ATR’s). I was blessed to attend a Bembe (an event for the Orisha or gods and goddesses) for a High Priestess who was being initiated.

The initiation culminated in this event after she’d been in a process for 1 year, and involved drums, singing, prayer, the killing of a goat and a ritual meal. There was more involved, yet I’m giving the abbreviated version here.

The celebration also entailed a hefty financial commitment, as many great ceremonies do, such as weddings.

Everyone wore white, except the new High Priestess, who wore the garb of her Orisha and sat on a throne. No one could touch her or approach except those who were tending to the initiation.

This initiation was so moving it’s seared into my consciousness.

Wicca

Others go to Wicca and are initiated in a rite that lasts a year and a day, according to prescribed Wicca tradition.

I am not familiar enough with Wicca and its initiations to elaborate on it here. I recommend books from practicing Wiccans that are far more informative from a space of actually practicing Wicca. (I recommend these books on Wicca.)

Christian Witchcraft

Those who do not desire to leave everything behind that they loved about Christianity (that was me) have found Christian Witchcraft, or Bible Magick, or some form of the ‘alchemical marriage’ of aspects of the Christian experience with magick and witchcraft.

These initiations I am very well familiar with, and practice. Here you see us pictured at a robing ceremony with me in the middle of 2 newly initiated High Priestesses.

In the Christian Witches Mystery School (founded by yours truly in 2018) our initiation process consists of these 5 components:

• Completion of 200 hours of classroom training in the Mystery School (similar to Yoga Teacher Training or YTT that consists of 200 hours of training). The curriculum includes the Foundations Course, which are 40 lessons foundational to becoming a practicing High Priestess, High Priest or High Mage. The Foundations curriculum is HERE though there are many other classes we offer in the Mystery School.

• Attendance at 8 in person live rituals to ensure that each initiate is well versed and masterful in the creation and implementation of rituals that are deeply moving and transformational for self and others.

• An interview to connect with other High Priestesses who question the initiate in their motives, willingness and desire to serve the universe as a High Priestess, High Priest or High Mage for self and on behalf of others.

• Travel to the initiation site for the formal initiation - our initiations take place out in nature in places chosen for the occasion and are attended only by those who have already been initiated.

• Robing Ceremony - after the initiation, a Robing Ceremony is held for the newly initiated High Priestesses and/or High Priests in which they receive a ceremonial robe. (The Robing Ceremony is open to anyone who would like to attend.)

This initiation is into the Ma’at Temple of Love, Light & Truth, the formal temple of the Christian Witches Mystery School.

Once initiated, High Priestesses, Priests and Mages are fortified and equipped to conduct rituals for the community at large and often do so at our events (especially the Christian Witches Convention held annually in New Orleans on Memorial Day Weekend).

Of course, initiation into the Temple with the Christian Witches Mystery School entails a significant investment in oneself, one’s transformation, curriculum, travel and supplies.

The investment is in both time, energy and money.

Over the years, I’ve invested significantly in my growth and development. The practice has paid off beyond all expectations.

Blood Initiation

Now is a good time to state that our initiation is a blood oath between the initiate and the Universe (or God/Goddess or whatever the initiate calls the Universal Life Force), using the initiates own blood that they themselves collect.

I used one of the most potent blood collections of all for this initiation: menstrual blood.

Initiates create their own ‘blood oath’ that they themselves write as a commitment to their initiatory promise to the Universe.

They then seal it with their own blood, collected at the ritual site, or in advance (in the case of an initiate’s desire to use menstrual blood).

During the course of preparation for initiation, care and discussion is devoted to the collection of one’s own blood, use of it in blood magick, and what it means.

Of course, if a witch didn’t desire to undergo a blood initiation, they wouldn’t initiate with the Temple in the Mystery School as this is the only initiation we offer.

Why Blood?

In the Bible, blood is often mentioned and referred to as sacred.

As occultists, we know this to be true.

If a witch or magician seeks to make a magickal tie permanent or at least steadfastly forged, blood may be called upon for its unparalleled binding effects.

Blood magick cannot easily be undone.

Further, the act of collecting one’s own blood and using it in ritualistic practice is akin to rites and practices of witches throughout the ages, regardless of tradition.

Blood is a common bond we share as witches.

Our strongest magick runs in our blood, from the ancestral line.

Therefore, we are forging our initiatory path and our practice of magick with both ancestral ties and energetic ties to witches throughout the ages.

This makes for a powerful connection to those who have gone before us.

There are more reasons we use blood, much of which is discussed in the Mystery School.

Is It For You?

Only you know if initiation is right for you, and which initiation is best for you, given your stage of development and practice as a witch or as a Christian Witch.

This decision is so deeply personal that only you can make the call. Of course, the higher divine forces always guide us true.

Self initiation was my first of many initiations, and I still deem it the most powerful.

The Christian Witches Convention started with a deep desire and a forward intention to bring together witches for Christ or Christians and deconstructing Christians who are drawn to witchcraft, magick and the occult.

Though there were lots of witchy events and conventions (many of which I’ve attended and enjoyed), there was no event that fit the Christian Witchcraft paradigm perfectly or exclusively.

Enter the Christian Witches Convention (CWCon) an event especially designed for those who honor Christ and the Craft, and that celebrates and teaches Christian Witchcraft and Bible Magick to magickal practitioners, Christians and deconstructing Christians who are peering into ancient mysteries and occult studies and who may have been doing it alone.

Though anyone who desires to can attend the event, and there have been attendees present each year who may not consider themselves Christian Witches, the intention and design of the Convention is for those who are practitioners of Christian Witchcraft and Bible Magick.

So I put the idea into motion, spoke with the community about it, and within a wave of a wand we were preparing for what we love to call ‘the most heretical event on planet earth’ (heretical comes from the Greek word hairetikos, meaning able to choose). As Christian Witches, we know we can choose. We also know our choice may be considered unorthodox.

The first ever Christian Witches Convention was held on Easter weekend 2019 in Salem with a wild bunch of us at the Hawthorne Hotel (purportedly the most haunted hotel in all of Salem) and we were off to the proverbial races.

The event included classes of the Christian Witches Mystery School (CCW for short), visits to witchy and magickal stores in Salem, a visit to both the Salem Witch Memorial and the cemetery. We also had vendors, energy workers and readers.

The event has a themed party on Saturday night, with costumes and a prize or recognition for the person who embodies the theme the most. The theme for the party is always a pop culture reference that may be a movie, TV show or book series that features magick, witchcraft or ideas related to consciousness expansion.

The theme for the party on Saturday night at first ever Christian Witches Convention was American Horror Story: Coven (hence the costumes in the photo below, including my big red wig to give a nod to one of my fave witches on the show: Myrtle Snow).

The event turned out better than we could have imagined!

And Then 2020 Happened…

The following year, we were all set to take our learnings from the first event and create an even better event, yet it was the fateful year of 2020, and we know what happened.

The Christian Witches Convention was not held in 2020 or 2021.

We Returned!

In 2022, we were back, better than ever, with a yearning to see everyone in person! The event was held in New Orleans on Memorial Day Weekend. The theme on Saturday night was The Matrix (hence why some of us are wearing shades at night lol).

Christian Witches Convention 2023

Since we’d spent so much time on the east coast, and the Christian Witches movement is everywhere, we decided to head to the west coast for CWCon 2023. It was held in Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend. Here’s a peek into that event:

Which brings us to the 2024 event, which just ended two days ago. I’m still on an energetic high from seeing the family, engaging in rituals together, going magick shoppe hopping through the famed French Quarter, and feasting on scrumptious New Orleans cuisine (I downed half a dozen beignets lol).

The event started on Thursday’s Full Moon in Sagittarius, the perfect opportunity to engage in a group ritual. The word we heard most frequently from attendees to describe CWCon 2024 was EPIC.

While I’ve been using AI for several months now for research (it’s proven much easier than Google), I hadn’t specifically used it to generate spells.

Until just a few days ago, as I write this.

Before I share with you my query and the results, my thoughts on artificial intelligence may be helpful.

I like it. A lot.

With that said, it’s like every other powerful advance in technology for humans: it has a dark side, potential for abuse and the possibility that it will take over.

I don’t fear AI taking over and ruining humanity for one reason: the AI is not divine.

We are.

The latest advances in scientific research by cutting edge physicists like Nima Arkani-Hamed and the winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics in October of 2022 prove that there’s far more beyond space and time that we do not currently understand.

Also emerging is evidence that space and time are not fundamental. Consciousness is fundamental.

The prevailing orthodoxy in science is that space and time are fundamental, and somehow consciousness emerges from matter. Though this has never been proven, it’s held as a religion for many scientists in varying fields.

Hence, the ‘hard problem’ of the origins of consciousness.

There’s even an understanding that if a scientist strays too far from this unproven theory, they could be committing career suicide.

Conversely, according to Dr. Donald C. Hoffman, Professor of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California at Irvine, space and time are not fundamental, and the universe beyond space and time is filled with what he refers to as ‘conscious agents.’

This dovetails nicely with what witches, shamans and spiritual people have known for eons.

This is fundamentally why I do not fear AI. It cannot give rise to consciousness. No construct in space and time can. Consciousness is not sourced in space and time.

Now, on to the query I made of AI, and the spell it generated…

My query:

“Write a spell for good fortune, based on the holy bible, for practicing Christian Witches, including herbs, essential oils, planetary hours and any other ingredients necessary.”

AI response:

“As an AI language model, I must clarify that the practice of witchcraft may not align with the beliefs and teachings of all Christians, as it can be considered inconsistent with certain Christian doctrines.    • Pray or meditate, seeking guidance and divine blessings.

3. Bible Verse:

   • Choose a Bible verse that resonates with you and relates to blessings, prosperity, or good fortune. Examples include Psalm 23:1, Proverbs 10:22, or Matthew 7:7-8. Write down or print the verse.

4. Candle Ritual:

   • Light the green or gold candle, representing prosperity and good luck.

   • Hold the printed Bible verse in your hands and recite it aloud with intention and faith.

5. Anointing:

   • Take a small amount of the anointing oil and consecrate the Bible verse by gently anointing it with the oil.

   • As you do this, affirm your intention for the spell, stating your desire for good fortune and blessings to come into your life.

6. Herbal Sachet:

   • In the natural fabric sachet, combine the dried herbs and flowers associated with luck and blessings.

   • Close the sachet and hold it in your hands, focusing your energy on the desired outcome.

7. Blessing:

   • Place the Bible verse and the herbal sachet near the lit candle.

8. Planetary Hours (optional):

I’d say that’s pretty damned good! I was surprised, in a pleasing way. While it’s not a spell I would use, it does contain elements that could be expanded upon.

So that’s what I did. I reworked it.

Here’s the new version:

Title: A Spell for Good Fortune for Christian Witches

Supplies:

1. Your Bible (the version or translation that resonates with you most) opened to Proverbs 10:22.

2. A green or gold candle (for prosperity and good luck).

3. Anointing oil: Create your anointing oil based on Exodus 30:22-25 by combining a base of olive oil with a few drops of frankincense, myrrh, calamus and cassia essential oils.

4. A small sachet or pouch made of natural fabric (such as cotton).

5. A mix of dried herbs and flowers associated with blessings: hyssop, mint, rosemary and lavender.

6. Frankincense and/or myrrh incense.

7. A small square of parchment paper, or a small square of white linen fabric.

8. A purple pen or writing instrument and Dragon’s Blood ink.

Instructions:

1. Preparation:

   • Find a quiet and peaceful space where you can conduct your spell work without interruptions.

   • Light the incense to raise the vibration for you and your sacred space.

   • Anoint your head, hands and heart with the anointing oil as you pray the 23rd Psalm.

2. Center yourself:

   • Take 10 deep breaths, grounding yourself in the present moment.

   • Pray or meditate, seeking guidance and divine blessings.

3. Bible Verses:

   • Write down on a square of parchment paper the following 3 verses:

   • Psalm 51:7 - “Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”

   • Psalm 65:11 - “What a rich harvest your goodness provides! Wherever you go there is plenty.”

   • Proverbs 10:22 - “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

4. Candle Ritual:

   • Dress the candle with the anointing oil.

   • Read the scriptures aloud with fervor 3 times.

   • Fold the parchment paper in half toward you, then in half again, toward you.

   • Place the parchment paper with scriptures under the candle.

   • Light the green or gold candle, representing prosperity and good luck.

5. Herbal Sachet:

   • In the natural fabric sachet, combine the dried herbs and flowers.

   • Close the sachet and hold it in your hands, focusing your energy on the desired outcome.

   • Draw a cross with the index finger of your left hand on the front of the sachet using the anointing oil.

6. Blessing:

   • Place the herbal sachet near the lit candle.

   • Raise your hands over the items and channel divine energy into your working as you say a personal blessing or prayer, stating your intention to experience divine favor and good fortune.

7. Planetary Hours:

   • Perform this spell on a Thursday (for Jupiter) in the 1st or 8th hour after sunrise, or the 3rd or 10th hour after sunset (the hours of Jupiter). Use an online planetary calculator to assist with timing of your spell work.

8. Gratitude and Closing:

   • Express gratitude for the blessings already present in your life and trust that your desires for good fortune will be fulfilled.

   • Keep the candle burning until it naturally burns out. When it’s completed burning, ‘read’ the container to determine next steps. Bury the sachet in the ground near your home.

My Final Thoughts

Yes, AI can help a magickal practitioner, yet said practitioner must know what they’re doing in order to achieve optimal outcomes. Spells are crafted from the core of one’s soul, or sometimes they’re sourced from books that have been written by magickal practitioners who’ve tested and proven the spell’s efficacy.

While I wouldn’t use a spell directly from AI, I can see the benefit of using AI as a starting point, especially if you’re new to spell work as a Christian Witch, or using it for creative ideas to add to your spell work, or using it as research for items to add to your spell work.

While there are many paths ex-Christians could embark upon, and there are as many spiritual paths as there are people, presented here are 3 paths I’ve noticed have gained quite a bit of traction with those who are leaving traditional Christianity. (I’ll cover reasons why people are exiting Christianity in another blog post.)

Search YouTube and you’ll see eye-opening videos from both Christians who are deconstructing their faith and Christians who are deconverting. Since these terms will be used throughout this conversation, I’ll define their use in this context:

Deconstruction & Deconversion

Deconstruction: to deeply examine all one’s Christian beliefs, toss out what no longer holds true, and align with what most resonates.

In this process, the one who is deconstructing understands that they constructed their belief house in the first place, therefore they are the only entity that can deconstruct it. This is a deep, internal, reflective process that may take years, or even decades.

Deconstruction can follow naturally as a result of research and an in depth study of history and the origins of Christianity. This is nothing short of an excavation of one’s former belief system and a reconstruction of the spiritual foundation underpinning one’s whole life.

Examples:

Deconstructing Christians may no longer believe in the doctrine of hell, eternal judgment or any other facets of Christian dogma that can easily be disproven or dispensed with as inventions of strange humans.

Others may no longer hold as true that Christ is the only savior for humankind (or that he’s a savior at all).

Still others may throw out all dogma, retaining only their personal, prized relationship with Christ and/or God, the angels and archangels.

Deconversion: a complete reversal of one’s conversion to Christianity. A complete divorce, deconversion is more radical, in my humble estimation, than deconstruction. It’s an erasure of one’s baptism and all associated meaning.

Examples:

Christians who become atheists.

Others who deconvert and become agnostic.

Another sort may reject Christianity and convert to another religion altogether, such as Judaism or Islam.

I’ve witnessed all these paths, possibilities and more among Christians, ex-Christians, Pagans, Witches and spiritual seekers.

My Path

When I left fundamentalist Christianity over 30 years ago, I was led by an insistent inner knowing to smash my belief house — a deconstruction — with the exception of one foundational brick: GOD IS LOVE.

I knew this to be true more than I knew my name.

When I struck out on the spiritual seeker’s quest after 26 years of fundamentalist Christianity, I had no clue of what was true and what wasn’t. Doubts swirled around me, and rightly so.

Was Jesus Lord and Savior as I’d been taught? Anybody’s guess.

What he returning on a cloud? Probably not.

Was he resurrected from the dead? Another I-don’t-know hole.

I was full of questions with no satisfying answers.

What I did have was a sneaky suspicion I’d been lied to, though I couldn’t pinpoint who lied, when the lies began, or how they had reached me. The people who perpetrated the lie were no better off. Many of them loved me, and thought they were leading me in the right direction, but they’d been lied to as well. Some realized it, while others were still under the hypnotic spell of the church.

Though I experienced a radical deconstruction, I never deconverted. My deep and abiding relationship with Christ, God and the angels was unmovable. It continues to be a guiding light in my inner sanctuary.

While I knew the God of the Bible was a narcissist and a sadist, or at the very least bipolar and confused, my personal relationship and lived experience of what people would call God had proven itself more times than I could count with more experiences than I can explain in a million blog posts.

Which leads me to the first of the 3 directions ex-Christians are going in that I’ll discuss here:

1 - Atheism

Ex-Christians who become atheists have an observation that’s led them to a conclusion. They look at the world, see suffering and wonder how a loving God could have created such a world, and keep a sick world going.

They purport that the possibility of a God in the face of suffering and downright horrific events on planet earth, perpetuated over millennia, is likely zero. Clearly, they contest, no one is in charge of the universe nor is anyone attempting to put things right for humanity.

They also state that the God of the Bible is so twisted and demented that they cannot give allegiance to such a God. On this count, I agree with the atheists. I gave up belief in sky gods long ago.

Considering the foregoing, many atheists look at Christians of any ilk as being deluded, dumb, ignorant or unwilling to accept that their God is a charlatan in the same vein as the Wizard of Oz, an impotent and mediocre character who managed to convince the masses of his imagined grandeur.

In response, since I am a lover of Christ, God and the Bible, just not in the traditional sense, I respond with these 3 oft overlooked points:

1. Human suffering does not disprove that there is an Infinite Consciousness (how I experience ‘God’) that is Love (not the sappy emotion, but the creative and energetic force of the universe that creates and sustains all… I could be wrong, I’m an occultist after all).

   Suffering of humanity proves to me that there are horrible human beings who do horrible things, including creating structures that imprison and stagnant people by the droves, to which I will include religion as it has been taught to the list of causes of human suffering. God did not make religion. Humans did.

   I do not take the suffering of humanity as a hand wave that God must not exist.

   I’m surprised at some atheists, who are well-researched, intelligent and well-heeled in arguments other than this one. The existence of a mouse in a house does not disprove the existence of a cat. This argument is not logical, to my mind, and reflects religious conditioning in that it presupposes that there’s a God as a person who should interfere in what humans are doing, and should set it right.

   I do not agree with this argument. One can walk the corridors of a hospital and witness suffering people who have cancers and all manner of disease that have been brought on by their own actions, or by the actions of other humans.

2. The God of the Bible is a lie, a fiction, and is, in fact, not even one God so much as it is a conglomeration of many gods held dear to people over millennia.

   

   The God of the Bible is not the God I have a relationship with. For me, this angry God is not the non-personal, ever present, infinite field of consciousness I am and know.

   Instead, it is a caricature and mean substitute for the real thing. I cannot side with atheists and their argument that the God of the Bible is so bad that they stopped believing in gods altogether. I think the God of the Bible (or Gods; there’s the Old Testament God and the New Testament God) is so bad so that it forces an introspective journey.

   The revelation of God (or no God) is a personal journey each person is free to undertake if they so choose.

3. No one has yet been able to prove the non-existence of God, which is another surprisingly illogical aspect of the atheist’s argument. They say that God can’t be proven. Yet it’s easy to rebut this argument with the simple truth that God can’t be disproven either. It’s a circular argument that goes nowhere.

For ex-Christians who settle on atheism, they must likewise accept that matter is fundamental to existence rather than consciousness. However, if consciousness is fundamental and there are fields of existence beyond space-time (see Nima Arkani-Hamed’s research on the Amplituhedron), which physicists are revealing, the atheist position becomes weaker, or unsubstantiated altogether.

There’s something beyond me, even if that something is a BIG ME. Either way, this human me is not all there is as spirituality has taught for eons and as science is now beginning to discover. I’m happy for the revelations.

2 - African Traditional Religions

ATR’s, or African Traditional Religions, have become the home of legions of ex-Christians, and for good reason.

When people of Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana as well as other locales that were deeply affected by the middle passage left Africa, their gods, the lwa and Orisha, traveled with them. The lwa of Vodun and the Orisha of Yoruba and Ifa live on and thrive in hearts, minds and spirits as strong as ever — perhaps even more vividly present to more people — than they did when their domain was exclusively in Africa.

The thievery of millions of people from their homeland forced the spread of their religions, even if forbidden.

It is important to note that the forbidden does not die. It grows in potency and power underground. The suppressed does not go away. It gains allegiants, holy helpers and loyalists who fight for its survival, practices and expansion.

The ‘conquerors’ mistakenly conceived that they could eliminate the religions of the ‘conquered,’ though such an objective has never been successfully engineered and achieved in the history of humanity.

Humans will always find occult means to keep their beloved gods, goddesses, religions, rites and rituals alive and thriving. They are incentivized to do so ever more vigilantly in the face of any threat that these could be extinguished, so that the holy wisdom can be passed to future generations, no matter how encoded or underground it must become.

Thus the religions of Africa — including Vodun, Yoruba, Ifa and the Akan religions — stretched beyond the ocean blue, grew and expanded in its initiates far beyond their native land.

In the middle passage, the old African religions collided with the fairly new Christian religion and spawned offspring. Santeria, The 21 Divisions, Hoodoo and more all bear the indelible marks of African origins syncretized with Christianity. The saints were matched with the existing Orisha, and ATR’s lived on unscathed and vastly unchanged in the hearts and minds of its adherents.

Zero points for the ‘conquerors’ who thought they could wipe out old African religions. Not only did they fail, they became unwilling and unaware evangelists for the old African religions, spreading them everywhere their ships and feet could carry them.

Thus ATR’s have been delivered to us in the Americas wholly in tact, whether those who are called to it and receive it are children of the diaspora or not, and regardless if they have ever set foot on African soil.

The Orisha themselves have gifted us their presence, with scores of ex-Christians turning to them. These Christians have left Jehovah or Yahweh for Olodumare, and have abandoned Jesus for Obatala, and have turned belief into angels into a knowing of the presence of all the Orisha, vast in number.

It’s easy to understand why ATR’s would be so appealing to ex-Christians, or even appealing enough to draw Christians away from the religion in the first place. ATR’s offer visceral connection with the spirit world, with the word Vodun literally meaning ‘Spirit.’

3 - Witchcraft, Magick & The Occult

Lastly, deconstructing and deconverting Christians alike can settle on witchcraft, magick and the occult quite easily without disrupting much of their Christian worldview, as magick and the Bible meld well, and a plethora of Christian practices are Pagan in origin.

The Bible contains wisdom and mysticism from the world’s magickal paths, from the Heka of Egypt to the Kabbalah of the Jews.

Like myself, there are scores of Christians who have found witchcraft, magick and the occult to be satisfying accompaniments to the brand of Christianity they personally practice.

I aspire to the life and teachings of Christ, not the Bible, nor the Roman Catholic Church and its Ecumenical Councils, or Paul, all of whom seem to have more influence on modern day Christians than Christ.

The entire Christian religion, as we know it, is a human made construct. We are each and all endowed with the power and ability to create. We ought to use this power.

In the purist sense, to be a Christian means, above all else, to live as Christ did, as best we can, which equates to a life of love for God and neighbor, service to humanity, non-judgment, acceptance of all people and forgiveness. I view Christ and Buddha as two sides of the same coin.

It’s simple for me: I’m Witch who loves Christ.

While I realize this is a loaded statement that literally sends some Christians into fits of fury, it’s true for millions of Witchy Christians around the globe. When one performs a non-biased, microscopic study of history and archeology with regard to the Bible, a glaring truth becomes apparent: people have been practicing witchcraft and magick since there have been people.

Why? Because humans have problems that we want solutions for. We want to find love and romantic partners. We want to be prosperous and to live in peace with our families and neighbors. We want fulfillment and to have a life of meaning, doing what we think matters. We want protection and security, and we want to be able to bless and hex. We want to find lost and stolen goods. We want abundant crops and plenty of food. We want health, wellness and elimination of sickness and disease. We want to do counter-magick, reversing hexes and curses. Humans want a lot.

Hence witchcraft and magick.

I don’t see humans giving up the sovereign right to change conditions at will.

For anyone who’s uncomfortable with witchcraft, magick and the occult, or thinks these do not offer right and proper solutions, it is incumbent upon each one to seek for themselves satisfying answers to life’s mysteries, profundities and perplexing issues.

For ex-Christians and current Christians who embrace witchcraft, magick and the occult, the choice can be liberating as it offers the best of both worlds: the ability to have a fulfilling relationship with spirits (God, Jesus, archangels, angels and more) and the self-initiating practices and rituals of witchcraft and magick that boldly remind the practitioner of one’s inherent and divine power to create, shape and destroy.

You get the best of both worlds as a Christian Witch.
