A worldview is the mental framework or “glasses” through which a person perceives the world, interprets events and makes decisions.

To a genuine believer, a biblical worldview is essential to how we think and behave to honor God in everyday life.

I’m grateful to a believer who shared information I didn’t know about Dolly Parton, but it proved my point about Christians developing a Biblical worldview: Dolly embraced LGBTQ+ immorality.

In 2005, she wrote and performed “Travelin’ Thru” for the film Transamerica about a transgender woman; it was nominated for an Oscar, and she performed it at the Academy Awards.

For her “Dollywood” family park, she hired trans employees and financially supported a staff member’s trans surgery.

She spoke against North Carolina’s 2016 “bathroom bill,” protecting women from males entering female restrooms.

She embraced drag culture and joked about losing in a Dolly drag look-alike contest. She based her hyper-feminine look on a sex worker and joked that she essentially was a drag queen. One of her famous self-deprecating quips was, “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”

Dolly appeared at GLAAD awards and on the cover of Out magazine.

Some of us prefer the Dolly Parton of the 1960s and 1970s, when she excelled as a performer and songwriter.

She is to be commended for staying faithfully married to one man for almost 60 years.

Apparently she was super sweet and kind-hearted. Rare qualities.

However, many believers fail to discern that Jesus would welcome LGBTQ+ individuals with profound compassion and kindness, while calling them—just like everyone else—to turn away from sin and follow His path.

In the fourth century, as the Church faced one of its greatest doctrinal crises, a voice rose with unyielding clarity against the prevailing tide.

Athanasius of Alexandria, the steadfast defender of the Nicene Creed, earned the enduring moniker Athanasius contra mundum—“Athanasius against the world.”

While emperors and popular opinion leaned toward Arius’ denial of Messiah’s full deity, Athanasius held fast to the revelation that the Son is of the same substance (homoousios) as the Father.

Athanasius’ life of repeated exile, persecution and isolation became a living parable of fidelity to Scripture over cultural consensus.

Although Athanasius never became a martyr, he was numbered among the “Confessors,” a title given to believers who suffered persecution, physical harm or exile.

Today that same moniker “against the world” finds fresh application among believers who understand and teach the prophetic Scriptures concerning God’s covenant purposes for Israel, the nations and the return of Jesus/Yeshua.

Christian Zionists and other students of biblical prophecy who affirm the literal, future fulfillment of God’s promises to Abraham’s physical descendants frequently encounter ridicule, theological dismissal, hatred and social ostracism.

Just as Athanasius refused to surrender the deity of Messiah for the sake of ecclesiastical peace, we believers today refuse to spiritualize or cancel the plain testimony of the Bible for the sake of contemporary respectability on any number of issues.

Athanasius did not invent new doctrine. He simply refused to abandon the apostles’ teachings.

The Council of Nicaea in 325 had already confessed the full deity of the Son, yet Arianism (denying the doctrine of the trinity) regained imperial favor.

Bishops compromised, creeds were rewritten, and the majority of the visible Church appeared to side with the heresy. At times Athanasius seemed to stand virtually alone, enduring five periods of exile totaling seventeen years, under four different Roman emperors.

His opponents labeled him a troublemaker, a divider, even a traitor to Christian unity.

How many times do we hear those same accusations today about evangelicals who maintain certain doctrines, such as the imminency of the Lord’s return, that we are dividers!

Yet history vindicated Athanasius: the orthodoxy he defended became the settled faith of the Church.

As I prepared a presentation on the Nicene Creed for the daily Global Prayer Gathering of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, the parallel seemed particularly striking.

Modern teachers of Bible prophecy do not invent a novel theology when they affirm that God’s covenants with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob remain irrevocable. (Genesis 12:1–3; 15:18; Romans 11:28–29)

We simply refuse to reinterpret the hundreds of prophetic texts that speak of Israel’s national restoration, the Jews being regathered to the land, the revelation to them of Messiah, and the reign of Messiah from Jerusalem (Isaiah 11; Jeremiah 31–33; Ezekiel 36–37; Zechariah 12–14).

These passages were understood literally by the prophets and by the apostles. To insist on that same plain sense today is to stand, in many circles, contra mundum.

Christian Zionists and premillennial interpreters of prophecy face a multi-front assault.

Within much of mainline Protestantism and even certain evangelical circles, replacement theology (or supersessionism) asserts that the Church has permanently inherited all the promises given to Israel by a covenant-keeping God.

To these nay-sayers, the modern return of the Jewish people to their ancestral homeland is theologically irrelevant at best and politically dangerous at worst.

Prophetic passages are routinely allegorized:

“Israel” becomes the Church, “Zion” becomes heaven, and the land promises dissolve into spiritual blessings.

Outside the Church the pressure intensifies.

Secular media, podcasters, progressive political movements, and certain academic establishments frequently portray Christian support for Israel’s right to exist and flourish as naïve fundamentalism, colonial ideology, or even racism.

Believers who teach that the reestablishment of Israel in 1948 and the subsequent waves of aliyah fulfill biblical prophecy are mocked as “end-times obsessives” or we are accused of subordinating Christian ethics to geopolitical agendas.

Social media amplifies the scorn, reducing careful biblical exposition to caricature.

The emotional and vocational cost can be real. Pastors lose pulpits, professors face professional isolation, and ordinary believers endure family tension or workplace hostility for simply affirming the truth of the biblical prophets, Jesus and the New Testament apostles.

The temptation to soften our message or to avoid the prophetic texts altogether is strong.

Yet the example of Athanasius going against the tide reminds us that truth is not determined by majority vote or cultural approval.

Why the Stand Matters

Athanasius understood that the deity of Messiah is not a secondary issue; the Arian controversy touched the heart of the Gospel itself.

Likewise, the integrity of God’s covenants with Israel is not peripheral—I often say:

If the Lord can revoke His sworn promises to Abraham’s physical descendants, what confidence remains that He will keep His promises to the Church?

The apostle Paul confronted precisely this question in Romans 9–11, concluding that “the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”

I often say in my broadcasts: to spiritualize away Israel’s future is to risk undermining the faithfulness of God Himself.

Moreover, Bible prophecy is not speculative entertainment for YouTube; it is divine revelation given so that the people of God might live with hope, sobriety and urgency!

Jesus Himself rebuked those who could interpret the weather but not “the signs of the times.” (Matthew 16:3)

The prophets spoke of a future day when Jerusalem would be a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62:7), when the nations would stream to the mountain of the Lord (Isaiah 2:2–4), and when Israel would look upon the One they had pierced. (Zechariah 12:10)

Teachers who keep these texts before the Church equip believers to watch, pray and remain steadfast amid global upheaval.

Let’s Give a call to courageous fidelity!

In my studies I learned that Athanasius did not stand alone forever. Over time, other voices joined him, and the truth of the Lord’s deity prevailed.

In the same way, those of us who teach the prophetic Word concerning Israel and the nations are not without company.

Across continents, churches and ministries continue to affirm the plain reading of Scripture, supporting both the spiritual and physical well-being of the Jewish people while proclaiming the Gospel to Jew and Gentile alike.

Our stance is not political partisanship but theological conviction rooted in the character of a covenant-keeping God.

The moniker Athanasius contra mundum therefore serves as both historical reminder and a present exhortation to all true believers. Believers who understand Bible prophecy are called to the same costly faithfulness: to refuse the easy path of accommodation, to endure the world’s mockery without bitterness, and to hold fast to the whole counsel of God.

In fact I keep emphasizing repeatedly that the whole counsel of God is woefully missing in today’s preaching!

The same Lord who sustained Athanasius through exile still rules. He has not forgotten His promises to Israel, nor has He abandoned those who, in our own day, dare to teach truth.

In an age that prizes consensus over conviction, the courage of faithful Bible prophecy teachers is paramount.

The world may shift, cultural winds may howl, but the Word of the Lord endures forever.

To see this information disseminated to a global audience is truly a merciful sign from the Almighty.

The article quotes Lamb & Lion Ministries, a non-denominational organization, and lists several signs as evidence that humanity is approaching the End Times.

The group claimed that Britain’s Balfour Declaration of November 2, 1917, was the first tangible sign that the Second Coming of Jesus was drawing near.

The historic document expressed British support for establishing a national home for the Jewish people, helping to pave the way for the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

According to the article, the founding of Israel, the return of Jewish people to the region and Israel’s re-capture of East Jerusalem in 1967 fulfilled many biblical prophecies.

The organization also cited subsequent signs including increasingly destructive natural disasters, wars, disease, social unrest, religious upheaval and technological advances that could make possible scenarios described in the Book of Revelation and the rise of the Antichrist dictator.

The article quoted “50 Reasons We Are in the End Times,” published by Lamb & Lion Ministries on its Christ in Prophecy website.

The group specifically cited a verse I often preach—Luke 21:24, Jesus saying Jerusalem will be “trampled on by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

This generation is using technology that did not exist when the Bible was written.

Revelation 13 describes a future when no one can buy or sell without the “mark of the Beast.” Computers and digital financial systems now provide infrastructure for the Antichrist to impose control.

Additionally, Revelation 11 predicts that people from across the world will gaze upon the bodies of two witnesses who will be martyred in Jerusalem. Such a scenario only became possible with the arrival of television, satellites and instantaneous global communication.

Christian Zionism rests on a literal reading of specific biblical covenants, land promises and prophecies that treat ethnic Israel as distinct from the Church, with ongoing national purposes including Jewish restoration to the land.

This is not universal Christian theology, but it should be.

Unfortunately, many traditions promote supersessionism (or replacement theology), in which the Church steals Israel’s promises.

However, many evangelicals support the modern State of Israel as being consistent with Scripture.

Zion is a hill in Jerusalem in the Bible and a poetic symbol of God’s dwelling place with His people, culminating in Revelation 14:1, “Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him 144,000, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.”

The starting point is the Abrahamic Covenant.

In Genesis 12:1–3, God tells Abram: “Go from your country… to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation… I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

This is reinforced as an everlasting covenant as a perpetual possession for Abraham’s descendants through Isaac and Jacob (Genesis 15:18–21; 17:7–8; 28:13–15; Psalm 105:8–11).

This covenant is unconditional and still binding on ethnic Israel, not transferred or spiritualized away. Supporting the Jewish people and their presence in the Holy Land is therefore seen as aligning with God’s stated posture—“bless those who bless you”—with national consequences for those who curse or disregard Israel.

Prophets repeatedly speak of Israelite and Jewish dispersion followed by regathering. Ezekiel 36–37 describes God restoring Israel to the land, giving them a new heart, and reuniting the nation (the “dry bones” vision).

Isaiah 11:11–12, Jeremiah 31, and Zechariah 12–14 speak of a future return, protection of Jerusalem, and national recognition of the Messiah.

Many evangelicals view the 1948 establishment of Israel and later events (such as the 1967 recovery of Jerusalem) as partial or initial fulfillments of these promises, even while Jews largely ignore Jesus. It’s all building up to the return of Messiah, when Israel will be present to welcome him back to Jerusalem!

The New Testament does not cancel God’s promises. In Romans 9–11, Paul affirms that God has not rejected His people Israel (Romans 11:1–2). Paul uses the olive-tree metaphor: natural branches (Jews) were broken off for unbelief, wild branches (Gentiles) were grafted in, yet the root remains, and the natural branches can be grafted back again.

“The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” (Romans 11:29) Israel is still “beloved for the sake of their forefathers.” (Romans 11:28) Paul anticipated a future turning of Israel to the Messiah. Christian Zionists therefore reject the idea that the Church fully replaces national Israel and instead see the Church age winding down, with a distinct future role for ethnic Israel arising in the land.

Additional practical applications include praying for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), recognizing that nations will be judged partly by their treatment of Israel (Matthew 25 linking “my brethren” to the Jewish people), and viewing Israel’s existence as evidence of God’s faithfulness to His word.

In short, Christians who take the Bible at face value support the Jewish people’s right to their homeland.

However, support among American evangelicals, especially younger ones, has lessened in recent years. Among those under 35, polls show declines in the belief that Jews remain God’s chosen people. A portion of this shift is driven by media influencers who mix isolationist “America First” rhetoric, policy criticism of Israeli actions, and classic antisemitic tropes.

Tucker Carlson has labeled Christian Zionism a “brain virus” and “dangerous heresy.” He gave a platform to Nick Fuentes (white nationalist and antisemite), and framed U.S. support for Israel as an unnecessary foreign entanglement that harms American interests.

Candace Owens has advanced conspiracy narratives while invoking Christian language.

Their methods include reviving supersessionism in online form: claims that “the Church is the true Israel,” Jesus is now the Temple, or Christians are the “spiritual Semites,” denying modern Israel’s special biblical claim. This dangerously defies Romans 11.

Furthermore, longstanding antisemitic patterns of Jew hatred are being recycled while arguing that true Christian priority is domestic American issues, and that supporting Israel contradicts “Christ is King” or America First.

According to honestreporting.com, the phrase “Christ is King” has itself been co-opted in some online circles as a signal against perceived Jewish or Zionist influence.

Worst still there’s selective moral outrage with intense focus on Israeli actions in Gaza, often using slanderous “genocide” language, while downplaying or denying the Hamas October 7 atrocities. This can slide into collective blame of “the Jews.”

According to theatlantic.com, these voices reach large audiences via podcasts, X, YouTube, and TikTok, particularly among younger conservatives and some churchgoers who already distrust institutions. The result is a theological and political reframing that treats biblical land promises as obsolete or metaphorical, casts support for Israel as heresy, and normalizes antisemitic patterns under the banner of Christian nationalism or anti-globalism.

Not every critic of Israeli policy is antisemitic. The influencers in question, however, frequently cross into collective ethnic/religious scapegoating and deliberate erosion of the covenant-based case that has historically animated evangelical support.

Christians must honestly evaluate these claims and return to the primary texts—Genesis covenants, the prophets’ restoration language, and Paul’s explicit statements in Romans 11—rather than relying upon social media influencers!

The same Bible that commands love of neighbor and truth-seeking also records God’s specific, irrevocable commitments to Israel.

Indeed, Isaiah 34: 8 prophesies that “a day is coming of the LORD’s vengeance and the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.”

Recently a tragic suicide was reported of an Israeli survivor of the 7 October 2023 massacres. He committed suicide on the grave of his childhood sweetheart because she was brutally murdered during the atrocities.

He was never able to cope— and so many Israelis have been suffering from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of the sadism, the brutality and the irrational anti-Zionism that has followed.

The suicide was horrific news.

Beyond sad.

Then I discovered this Israeli song, “Tamid Ohev Oti,” which has become an anthem after the Gaza War—”God Always Loves Me.”

As I listened and watched the joy of this song, and its energetic chorus, I thought to myself that this simple song, so full of life, is like the Israeli equivalent of our Christian Sunday School chorus, “Jesus Loves Me This I know for the Bible tells me so.”

Yair Elitzur, an Israeli singer, was asked by his rabbi, (who incidentally is one of my favorite human beings) Shalom Arush, to write the song using words often expressed by Arush:

“God [Hashem], blessed is He, always loves me, and I will always have nothing but good.”

According to the faith of Rav Arush, “Whoever says these words with joy, God will always do him only good, this is a promise! Heaven will guide him to have only good and even better and even better.”

I’m sure the rabbi, who has such a big heart, would say that any Gaza child who sincerely sings this song would also be blessed!

Thankfully the God of Israel has been using this popular song since the Gaza war to refresh the peoples’ spirits, to restore their souls and to give them fresh hope.

“Always Loves Me” was released less than a year after the war’s outbreak and apparently it has become so ubiquitous in Israel it seems you can’t go to any event— bar mitzvah, sports, children’s school play, army base— where it’s not being sung. Whether they are religious or secular, everyone is singing this song!

Jewish Derangement Syndrome or Israel Derangement Syndrome is a new description modeled directly on “Trump Derangement Syndrome, (TDS)” for an intense, obsessive and often irrational hostility toward Jews, Judaism, Zionism, or Israel that overrides facts, proportion, history and consistency.

The term has appeared in Jewish and pro-Israel commentary including pieces framing it as a modern flare-up of an ancient pattern of anti-semitism.

It appeared in the above post shared by President Donald Trump accusing influencer Tucker Carlson of catching “Jew Derangement Syndrome” amid criticism of Carlson’s obsessive Israel-related positions.

It is not a clinical diagnosis; like TDS, it is rhetorical, used by critics to highlight what we see as pathological bias rather than ordinary disagreement.

TDS is commonly described as hatred or fixation on Donald Trump so strong that it impairs judgment, producing disproportionate outrage.

Israel Derangement Syndrome applies the same bizarre dynamic to Jews and the Jewish state.

Common features are disproportionate scrutiny and double standards.

Israel (a small democracy of roughly 10 million persons) draws more international condemnation, UN resolutions, campus protests and media attention than far larger-scale abuses elsewhere (e.g., China’s treatment of the Uyghurs, Syria’s civil war, or other regional dictatorships).

Israeli self-defense measures are framed as uniquely evil while the initiating aggressor or use of human shields is excused.

Israel Derangement Syndrome includes historical amnesia and inverted narratives.

Minimized or erased are Jewish indigenous ties to the land, Jewish continuous presence in the Holy Land, Jewish refugee expulsions from Arab countries, and the defensive origins of Zionism after centuries of persecution culminating in the Holocaust.

Tiny Israel is being recast as a “colonial” project, while overlooked are surrounding huge Islamic nations and genocidal charters of terror groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.

Scapegoating and conspiracy patterns: Jews or Zionists are blamed for unrelated problems (crime, homelessness, global conflicts, media control, etc.). Classic antisemitic tropes—dual loyalty, secret power, blood libels updated for the modern era—reappear under the guise of “anti-Zionism.”

Legitimate policy critique slides into collective blame of Jews everywhere.

Selective progressive values is another characteristic of Israel Derangement Syndrome. Syndrome “sufferers” champion gay rights and women’s rights, yet they single out the one Middle Eastern country that broadly upholds these rights, while soft-pedaling jihadists who suppress those same rights.

Campus and activist reactions after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 (tearing down hostage posters, celebrating or contextualizing the massacre) are frequently cited as acute examples of Israel Derangement Syndrome.

Everyday events or unrelated politics somehow loop back to “the Jews” or Israel. The emotional intensity and refusal of nuance resemble the “derangement” charged in TDS.

Criticism of the Israeli government, the IDF or Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not automatically “derangement,” any more than every criticism of Trump is TDS. You don't have to agree with every decision Israel has ever made. I don't agree with every decision any politician has ever made. However, the label targets the excess: the singularity of the obsession, the erasure of context, the application of unique moral standards, and the echo of classic antisemitic patterns.

In short, I’m describing when opposition to Jewish people or Israel stops being reasoned disagreement and becomes a consuming, reality-distorting fixation.

According to the Bible, in the End Times many people will experience severely impaired judgment and an inability to think clearly or discern truth.

Scripture describes this as a time when God allows a strong delusion to come upon those who reject the truth, so that they believe what is false (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12).

The apostle Paul warned that perilous times will come in which people become “ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth,” their minds clouded and their reasoning corrupted (2 Timothy 3:1, 7).

This condition is further pictured as God giving people over to a reprobate (debased) mind that cannot properly evaluate right and wrong (Romans 1:28), leaving them unable to think straight or recognize spiritual reality amid widespread deception and moral confusion.

Yet these very signs of widespread confusion and delusion offer us an encouraging reminder that the return of Jesus Christ is drawing near!

Our team in Pakistan reported 2,169 salvations and more than 200 healings as a result of our ministry’s latest Gospel event via Zoom Sunday 19 July.

The location was Veerum village in Kasur District where the poor had the Gospel preached to them digitally.

Many Muslims attend these meetings as a way of seeking healing (and many Muslims also therefore find the Savior!).

Nevertheless most attendees are poor Christian-background people who need to be born again like everybody else.

Many work in the brick kilns and are treated like second-class citizens.

Our organizer administers schools to give a partial education to the brick kiln children who are not protected by child labor laws.

The mother pictured above brought her son onto the platform to testify of a miracle. During our Gospel event last month, this boy was prayed for due to a road accident. Doctors said one of his legs would have to be amputated, but after prayer he was healed, and during this week’s event he walked unaided on the stage to demonstrate his healing! (See video below)

There seemed to be a wonderful anointing for people to be healed of various accidents.

A woman suffering from hand paralysis as the result of an accident (photo below) was instantly healed, and she came forward to demonstrate full mobility of her hand.

Also a man testified that he had called a children’s hospital for his wife to listen to the evangelistic service via the telephone and to pray for their daughter who was hospitalized with a broken arm. Doctors checked and said her arm was healed and she could go home!

For many years my husband and I travelled in Africa with Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke and later we conducted our own Gospel campaigns in the Middle East, India, Pakistan and Asia.

Via Zoom we are still preaching the Gospel and believing for signs and wonders to follow.

Yet today the ministry often suffers reproach due to unscrupulous methods of some preachers who have unfortunately associated healing with offerings. Jesus said “freely you have received, freely give.”

The apostle Paul contrasted his transparent approach of openly proclaiming the truth against the craftiness of false teachers.

Paul continually emphasized the need for sincerity and accountability to God.

Today I’m encouraging everyone to approach healing ministries with discernment rather than mockery.

Recognize that the ministry of healing is biblically legitimate and rooted in the character of God.

Throughout the entire Bible, God reveals Himself as a healer in verses such as Exodus 15: 26, “I am the Lord Your Healer,” and Psalm 103 where God’s benefit package includes the forgiveness of all our sins and healing of all our diseases.

Jesus our Great Physician devoted a significant portion of His earthly ministry to physical and spiritual healing, and He commissioned His followers to continue this work.

In Matthew 10: 8 Jesus commanded, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.”

The early church continued the same pattern, with apostles performing healings, and in 1 Corinthians 12: 9 Paul listed “gifts of healings” among the Holy Spirit’s manifestations for the common good.

Furthermore, in James Chapter 5 believers are instructed to call for the elders of the church to pray over the sick with anointing oil, promising that “the prayer of faith will save the sick.”

Dismissing or mocking the ministry of healing risks quenching the Spirit’s work and overlooking genuine moves of God.

Unbelief, suspicion and mockery of evangelists undermine faith, foster division, and contradict the Bible’s call to heal.

While Scripture strongly warns against false prophets and deceptive practices, the Bible does not authorize blanket ridicule of everyone claiming to operate in divine healing.

Rather, the Bible urges believers to “test everything; hold on to what is good” and to avoid contemptuous attitudes that could stumble weaker believers or grieve the Holy Spirit.

Healthy critique, done humbly and biblically, is legitimate and different from scornful mocking, which often stems from cynicism or personal offense.

Many documented cases exist of verifiable healings through prayer that have led to salvations and strengthening the churches.

Believers are definitely called to pray for one another’s healing, to believe God’s promises, and to extend charity in evaluation.

Has the Almighty given you a vision?

This is the Sabbath of Vision!

Shabbat Chazon, the "Sabbath of Vision," takes its name from the opening word of the Haftarah from Isaiah.

Occurring on the Shabbat immediately before the day of temples destruction, Tisha B'Av, it is a deeply reflective period.

Jewish tradition teaches that every person is granted a vision of the rebuilt Third Temple, but a prophetic person might see it as a time when one receives any vision or genuine biblical call from the Lord.

Today Friday 17 July is also the weekly Every Friday Freedom Fast prior to shabbat evening in which we mourn for people ensnared by jihadism and we mourn for people even in the churches who are ensnared by antisemitism and Replacement Theology.

But this weekend let's also rejoice that God is working his purposes out and prophetic history IS coming to a climax.

How privileged we are to be part of the Lord's kingdom and watchmen for such a time as this! May the Lord grant you his vision of the full counsel of God!

The apostle Paul didn't say to his protege Timothy, "Be an evangelist!" No, he said, "Do the WORK of an evangelist." Yes, for us for many decades it's been vigorous work, and that's why the average working life of an evangelist is only 14 years according to church statistics. Don't be diverted by infamous scandals of American TV prosperity evangelists--hundreds of thousands of faithful hard-working evangelists around the world are called by the Lord and often ill-treated while attempting to reach the masses. Some day I might share about some of the hardships we have personally experienced.

Although gratefully costs are considerably less when we preach via Zoom, nevertheless the venue, field lighting, sound system, transportation, publicity and followup remain among some of the very real expenses.

We also hope funds can be expanded to help educate some of the poor “brick children.” Child labor in Pakistan’s brick-making kilns is defined by modern-day slavery and debt bondage, trapping over 200,000 children. Systemic poverty forces marginalized families into inescapable debt. Children face hazardous conditions, abuse, and are denied basic education, perpetuating a generational cycle of servitude.

The sudden and tragic death of Senator Lindsey Graham is a devastating loss at a critical moment when too many Americans remain unaware of the profound threats posed by Sharia law to individual liberties, women's rights and U.S. national security.

As a steadfast champion of a strong foreign policy, unwavering support for Israel and resistance to radical Islamist ideologies, Graham's voice in the Senate helped counter complacency toward jihadist regimes.

His passing leaves a void for Evangelicals who valued his moral clarity, the pro-life movement that benefited from his legislative steadfastness, the pro-Israel community that relied on his advocacy, and freedom-loving Iranians who saw in him an ally against the regime's tyranny.

In an era of short attention spans and softened rhetoric on global dangers, Graham's absence weakens the push to confront how Sharia-based systems suppress dissent, enforce gender apartheid, and fuel terrorism that endangers American interests at home and abroad.

Every American needs to refamiliarize themselves with the 1991 film "Not Without My Daughter," starring Sally Field, which powerfully dramatizes the true story of an American wife and her child trapped in Iran under the post-revolution regime. The current government is no safe place for any Christian, adult or child.

The film illustrates how quickly personal freedoms can vanish under such tyranny and a desperate escape required to reclaim freedom. It serves as a stark reminder of why vigilance against these ideologies remains essential.

Sen. Graham devoted his life to defending America and standing up for the free world.

Both Israel and free Iranians have lost one of their greatest friends and of course the evil regime in Iran is claiming credit for his "elimination." He also had enemies in Russia.

In a sense Lindsey Graham is irreplaceable at the moment.

My prayer is that his courage will be transferred to another senator just as erudite and bold.

WHY DO THE NATIONS RAGE?*
In Pamplona, Spain, this evil banner “DESTROY ISRAEL” was sponsored by “EHKS,” a far-left Basque group chanting slogans like “free Palestine.”

A shocking anti-Israel public display during one of Spain’s biggest cultural events.

The resurgence of European antisemitism is a portent of growing global hostility against Israel that the Bible predicted will intensify in the latter days, culminating in major wars against the Jewish state — particularly the invasion foretold in Ezekiel 38–39 (the War of Gog and Magog).

Let's connect the dots:

* Ezekiel 38:1–6, 8, 16 describes a future coalition of nations, led by “Gog of the land of Magog” (commonly understood as a powerful northern leader or region, often linked to Russia or parts of modern Turkey/Eurasia in historical/geographic interpretations), that will attack Israel “in the latter days.” The invaders include:

* Persia (modern Iran)
* Cush and Put (regions in Africa, often Sudan/Ethiopia and Libya/North Africa)
* Gomer and Togarmah (frequently associated with Turkey)
* “Many peoples with you."

* They come “like a cloud to cover the land” with the goal of plundering Israel.

But the God of Israel angrily promises to intervene supernaturally to destroy the coalition.

Then his glory will be seen among the nations!

* Multiple Bible passages (Ezekiel 38–39, Zechariah 12:2–3, Joel 3, Psalm 83) predict the nations will increasingly turn against Israel and Jerusalem, incurring the wrath of God.

Israel will become increasingly isolated, face existential threats, and attacked by coalitions motivated by hatred, plunder or ideology.

Israel's capital Jerusalem is described as “a cup of staggering” or “a burdensome stone” that injures those who try to lift/move it.

This Spanish banner alerts prophecy watchers in the following ways:

--Normalization of “Destroy Israel” rhetoric in the West/Europe — Europe has a long, painful history with antisemitism. What was once shouted as “Death to the Jews” is now often expressed as “Destroy Israel” or “Free Palestine” (with the implication of eliminating the Jewish state).

Public displays at major festivals show how this sentiment has moved from fringes to visible, large-scale events without major pushback in some places. This aligns with the prophesied rise in hatred and opposition.

— Spain (and much of Europe) has been critical of Israel in recent years, with political moves, protests, and rhetoric. Combined with similar protests worldwide, alliances involving Iran, Russia, and others, and diplomatic pressure on Israel, it contributes to the sense that “the nations” are aligning against the Jewish state — a key setup for the Ezekiel scenario.

--Rising antisemitism and anti-Zionism are fulfilling patterns where hatred of Israel/Jews escalates before divine intervention on Israel’s behalf.

The defaced Israeli flag on the Spanish banner echoes historical desecration and rejection of Jewish sovereignty.

For those watching through a biblical lens, this photo illustrates the escalating, public, normalized opposition from nations and peoples that Bible prophecies say will characterize the period leading up to (and including) the Gog-Magog invasion and related conflicts. It’s one more data point in a larger trend of the world turning against Israel, which prophecy describes as setting the stage for God’s dramatic intervention.

Young people, please know that the Bible affirms:

--The Jews MUST return to the promised land in the last days (Ezekiel 37, Isaiah 11:11-12, Jeremiah 31)

--Jerusalem will become a global flashpoint. (Zechariah 12:3)

--ALL nations will eventually turn against Israel. (Zechariah 14:2)

However, the GOOD NEWS is that Jesus Himself will return to ISRAEL to save his people and set up his headquarters in Jerusalem — his feet will stand once again on the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4, Acts 1:11)

The Bible literally says “ALL ISRAEL will be saved.” (Romans 11:26)

God will judge the nations on how they have treated Israel. (Joel 3: 2; Matthew 25: 31-46)

After the successful and largely peaceful 250th anniversary celebrations, President Trump has traveled to Turkey, where reports indicate the U.S. is lifting certain sanctions and discussing enhanced military cooperation, including potential arms support. Friends, this development deserves careful attention. Many students of Bible prophecy note that Turkey (historically associated with ancient regions in Ezekiel 38–39) is often identified as part of the Gog-Magog coalition that will turn against Israel. While we pray for peace and wise leadership, this moment calls for discernment. I don’t know if God ever intended nations to be multi-cultural.

Britain has had a glorious past but now in a so-called “multi-faith nation,” the monarch sees himself in an entirely different role than his mother and past monarchs.

A newly published palace definition of the monarch’s role has sent shockwaves through evangelical circles in Britain and beyond.

According to reporting in The Daily Telegraph and confirmed in the Sovereign Grant report 2025/26, King Charles III’s official duties are now framed as protecting “the space for Faith within the multi-faith nation.”

This replaces previous descriptions that explicitly linked the Sovereign to being “Head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith.”

While the ancient title Fidei Defensor remains in the full royal style, the practical redefinition signals a deliberate move away from defending the Christian faith toward a vague, pluralistic protection of “faith” in general.

For Bible-believing evangelicals, this is not a minor semantic adjustment.

It represents a profound departure from the constitutional and spiritual foundations of the United Kingdom. The Bible even predicts in 2 Timothy 4:3 that "the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine. . . .”

The historic title “Defender of the Faith” dates back to 1521, when Pope Leo X granted it to Henry VIII for his defense of Catholic doctrine.

After the English Reformation, Parliament retained the title for the monarch as defender of the Protestant faith.

At every coronation since, the sovereign has sworn to uphold “the Protestant Reformed Religion established by law” and to maintain the rights and privileges of the Church of England.

The king’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, embodied this role with unmistakable conviction.

Her Christmas broadcasts and public statements consistently pointed to Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

She understood that the monarchy’s Christian foundation was not incidental but essential to the moral and legal fabric of the nation.

King Charles, by contrast, has long expressed discomfort with the definite article: as Prince of Wales he famously stated he would prefer to be seen as “Defender of Faith” rather than “Defender of the Faith,” because the latter implies “just one particular interpretation.”

The new palace wording appears to be the institutionalization of that long-held preference.

Why Evangelicals Are Deeply Concerned

Evangelicals uphold religious freedom.

We believe every person should be free to worship according to conscience.

What troubles us is the demotion of Christianity’s unique constitutional status and the implicit equation of all “faiths” as equally valid expressions of truth.

Scripture is unambiguous: “There is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 2:5)

Jesus Himself declared, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

The early Church was willing to face lions rather than acknowledge Caesar as Lord or treat pagan deities as equivalent to the living God.

When the head of state — who remains “Supreme Governor of the Church of England” — redefines his role in pluralistic terms, it dangerously sends a signal to the nation that Christianity is merely one option among many.

In a country where church attendance has plummeted, biblical literacy is at historic lows, and aggressive secularism combined with rising Islamism increasingly marginalizes Christian witness, this message is part of End-time apostasy.

It also creates an impossible position.

How can one person simultaneously “defend the Faith” (the historic Christian gospel) and “protect the space for Faith” when other religions explicitly deny core Christian doctrines?

The new wording glosses over this contradiction with inclusive language, but it cannot resolve the underlying theological conflict.

The Broader Spiritual and Cultural Cost

Britain’s Christian heritage is not merely cultural nostalgia. It underpins the very concepts of human dignity, equality before the law, and freedom of conscience that secular progressives now claim as their own.

Remove that foundation and the house begins to shift.

We are already seeing the fruits: the rapid de-Christianization of public institutions, the aggressive promotion of ideologies incompatible with biblical teaching, and the growing sense among many believers that they are second-class citizens in their own country.

A monarch who once stood as a visible symbol of Christian continuity is now being repositioned as a neutral referee in a marketplace of religions.

This is not the robust defence of Christianity that evangelicals long for and that the constitutional settlement historically required. It is a managed retreat.

A Call to Prayer and Faithful Witness

Evangelicals must respond with both grief and resolve.

We should pray earnestly for King Charles — that God would grant him a clear understanding of the Gospel and the courage to uphold it without fear or compromise.

We should also pray for the Church of England, that its leaders would recover a bold, unashamed proclamation of the Redeemer rather than accommodation to the spirit of the age.

At the same time, we cannot outsource our responsibility to the monarchy.

The true “Defender of the Faith” is the Lord Jesus who builds His Church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

Our calling remains what it has always been: to contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 1:3), to make disciples of all nations, and to shine as lights in an increasingly dark culture.

The palace may revise definitions and soften language. However, the gospel of Jesus Christ remains unchanged. It is still the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

May the Lord raise up a new generation of bold witnesses who will defend the faith with clarity, charity, and courage — regardless of what titles or redefinitions come from Buckingham Palace.

Morning of light from the Bible land of Egypt.

My husband and I are enjoyed an epic Nile cruise with our family as we produced various TV programs.

This past Sunday morning as our boat headed toward the Valley of the Kings and Luxor, I was wondering what we would do as a family for church.

After a lovely breakfast passing through the Nile lock, we sat in a circle in the salon’s air-conditioned comfort, where our guide lectured us about the Judgment of the Dead, a famous papyrus from c. 1375 BC. The papyrus (above) shows the scribe’s heart in a jar being weighed on a scale against the “feather of truth.” The public domain image is via Wikipedia.

The ancient Egyptians believed that if a person’s heart was too heavy with sin, he would be devoured by a crocodile-headed beast (which later Muslims interpreted or re-invented as a pig).

I believe the ancient Egyptian’s obsession with death and eternal life was a thirst for the Gospel. So after the lecture, I asked ChatGPT to generate a summary of Christian theology in the same Egyptian papyrus style. You may click the result to enlarge it:

On the cross, Jesus took the penalty for our sin—"the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23) The wrath and "devouring" that should fall on us fell instead on Him. Isaiah 53:5–6: "He was pierced for our transgressions... the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all." This is penal substitutionary atonement.

Judgment day for the believer is not a terrifying weighing of personal merit but an acknowledgment of Messiah's accomplishment on our behalf.

Good works still matter!

Good deeds flow from genuine faith as the fruit of the Spirit. . . but good deeds do not earn acceptance with God.

This theology is often summarized as justification by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, freeing the believer from the crushing burden of "Is my life good enough?"

The result is eternal gratitude, transformed living, and assurance of salvation.

instead of hoping our heart tips the balance, we receive a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26). HalleluYah!

Believing this biblical truth allows sinners to pass safely from judgment to eternal life.

So.....we really experienced “church” this morning with our Muslim guide and other cruise guests because the whole scenario of the papyrus “Judgment” really "preaches" in light of Biblical truth!

With respect and gratitude to our guide I simply acknowledged. . . .

All our sins, disappointments, griefs.....we send them to the Cross!

This photo of a hand-written note for IDF soldiers inside a Lebanese home is making the rounds of social media, and indeed it speaks volumes.

This handwritten note was left for soldiers of the IDF’s 9260th Battalion by a Lebanese Christian family:

“We are Christians, we love you, and we thank you for emptying Lebanon of yellow [Hezbollah]. Please protect our homes. No one is helping us rebuild. We have children, no money, and we need to return safely.”

This is indeed a remarkable message of reality from inside Lebanon, revealing what civilians face who are living under Hezbollah’s shadow.

Hezbollah is referred to as “yellow” by Christian Lebanese because of its official flag, which features Arabic text and a rifle against a bright yellow background. [1, 2]

In the highly polarized and sectarian Lebanese political landscape, calling the group “yellow” (and by extension referring to its strongholds or affiliates as “the yellows”) is frequently used as a pejorative. Christian critics, who broadly oppose the group’s unchecked military power and its ties to Iran, use the term to distance themselves from the organization.

[Above screenshot: The Telegraph] Meanwhile, many Israelis and Arab Israelis are expressing dismay to me that yesterday’s “one-day war” was not followed by great military action on the part of the USA and Israel.

One thing I can say is that the Bible indicates in Ezekiel 38: 5 that an invasion of the mountains of Israel in the Last Days will include the unrepentant leadership of Persia (modern-day Iran) and it will be God Almighty who defeats them at that time—NOT President Trump nor Bibi Netanyahu. God Himself.

Therefore behind the scenes the hand of God could be restraining the lack of action at this very moment. Or Trump could yet be planning some sort of surprise.

Yesterday morning a siren went off and our son ran to the rooftop of our ministry center to capture this interception of an Iranian missile over Jerusalem’s Tower of David. Directly above the interception, the moon is the tiny dot.

Historically, Jerusalem was rarely a direct target because past conflicts—such as wars with Hamas in Gaza or Hezbollah in Lebanon—were primarily fought using short-range rockets. Those groups strategically targeted border towns and central coastal areas, and Jerusalem remained largely out of their standard range.

However, since the October 7, 2023 atrocities, the nature of the conflict has fundamentally shifted.

Unlike past proxy conflicts, the wars have escalated into direct military exchanges between Israel and Iran.

Iran launched massive, coordinated barrages of long-range ballistic missiles and drones from its own territory targeting Israel.

Because Iranian ballistic missiles (such as the Emad or Fattah) are highly advanced, long-range weapons are designed to strike high-value military assets, government headquarters, and major population centers rather than border towns.

As Israel's capital and largest city, Jerusalem houses critical national infrastructure and symbols of state, making it a primary target in these direct state-on-state engagements.

Even when Israel's multi-layered air defense systems (including the Arrow and Iron Dome) successfully intercept incoming Iranian missiles, the resulting impact of shattered debris, unburned fuel, and falling shrapnel frequently falls into the city. In fact, during direct strikes from Iran, debris from interceptions has crashed into unpopulated areas, open spaces, and even historical and religious sites within the Old City such as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

If an Iranian missile damages or destroys properties on the Temple Mount no doubt Israel would be blamed.

We were eyewitnesses of an historic event at the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast when the head of the Shomron (Samaria) Regional Council, Governor Yossi Dagan, bestowed honorary citizenship in Judea and Samaria on Christian Zionists.

Even though the Land belongs to Israel by God’s unilateral covenant, nevertheless YOU can become an honorary citizen by hovering with your phone over the above barcode and then fill in the application!

In his address, Dagan referred to a recent announcement by Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire proposing honorary citizenship for Palestinian civilians and journalists from Judea and Samaria and Gaza in what he described as an “act of peace.”

Dagan said, “He is offering citizenship to the Palestinian Authority, also to Fatah (PLO), also to Hamas . . . and I must tell you, sisters and brothers, as governor of Samaria, I invite you to be honorary citizens of Samaria and Judea.”

Rabbi Tuly Weisz, head of Israel365 news, was enthusiastic about Dagan’s offer. “It is unclear what honorary citizenship means,” he said, “but at this point, the growth of Judea and Samaria over the last three years, and all of the new communities that have been built, are perceived by the political leadership of Judea and Samaria as being tied to the strength of Christian support.” Rabbi Tuly is photographed below with Peter and Christine Darg at the prayer event:

Meanwhile, Mike Evans, founder of Friends of Zion, responded:

“About 80 percent of the Bible stories came out of Judea and Samaria. The evangelicals are 750 million worldwide. The vast majority of evangelical Zionists believe that Judea and Samaria are holy ground. If you take it or touch it, God will curse you. What was just said was very important to the greatest supporters of the State of Israel.”

No matter how much the world will balk at the Israeli offer of honorary citizenship in Judea and Samaria, this movement is prophesied in the Bible.

In fact, many Bible believers and prophecy watchers are already aware that the prophetic Word says watchmen "notzrim" [modern Hebrew = "Christians"] will live in the biblical heartland in the Last Days.

Core Scripture: Jeremiah 31:6, "For there shall be a day when watchmen will call in the hills of Ephraim, 'Arise, and let us go up to Zion, to the Lord our God.'"

The hill country of Ephraim is in the central mountains of Israel -- historically and biblically synonymous with the heartland of Samaria.

"Watchmen:" In the original Hebrew, this word is notzrim (from the root natzar, meaning to watch, guard, or keep). In modern Hebrew, the same word is also used to refer to Christians—notzrim. We are therefore guardians and watchmen upon the walls!

The Bible calls its heartland Judea and Samaria, not “West Bank,” a man-manufactured false label of biblical territory bequeathed to the Jewish people by the Almighty.

One potentially lethal aspect of the honorary citizenship idea would be the need to protect the database of applicants. Eventually the Israelis might have to grant not only honorary citizenship, but actual asylum to Israel.

Discoverer of gravity, Newton is also credited with making the following remarkable prophecy:

Most famously, Newton calculated that the world would transition to a new divine era around 2060 AD, based upon his mathematical study of the Book of Daniel.

He based his timeline on Daniel 7:25, interpreting “a time, times, and a half” (1,260 prophetic days) to literally mean 1,260 years. This is common Bible code language —interpreting a prophetic "day" as one literal year.

Then he added this 1,260-year period to 800 AD, the coronation of Charlemagne and the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire, bringing the target time to 2060.

Newton viewed Charlemagne's coronation in 800 AD as the historical trigger for the rise of the corrupt, apostate church system (often referred to as "Babylon."

He believed 2060 AD would mark the end of corrupt human institutions, the return of Jesus, and the beginning of the Lord peaceful, 1,000-year reign on earth.

Although Newton’s mind worked out the aforementioned mathematics, nevertheless he strictly cautioned against sensationalizing End-time predictions. He purposely kept his notes private during his lifetime to avoid ridicule and to prevent radical individuals from discrediting the scriptures when their own doomsday dates failed to happen.

According to Wikipedia, Newton spent a great deal of time trying to discover hidden messages within the Bible.

Furthermore, in an Aish.com post that I saw today on Facebook [above photo] Newton is credited with believing that the Jewish Temple held clues to understanding biblical prophecies and the Last Days.

Newton sought to decode these prophecies using the Bible’s dimensions and descriptions of the Temple. He studied the architectural dimensions of the temple as detailed in the Bible and other historical sources such as Josephus’ Antiquities of the Jews.

Newton reasoned that the Temple’s design reflected divine order and could reveal secrets about God’s plan.

He saw the Temple as a microcosm of the universe, representing cosmic order and harmony.

For centuries, Newton’s papers remained largely hidden due to their unorthodox content.

According to an article by Bluma Gordon at Aish.com, “Sir Isaac Newton and Judaism” , the release of Newton’s private manuscripts—long suppressed after his death in 1727—reveals his profound reverence for ancient Jewish wisdom and the teachings of Maimonides.

Newton’s papers were acquired at an auction in 1936. The documents show that Newton was a student of rabbinic literature, including works by Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Sa’adia Gaon, the Talmud (both Babylonian and Jerusalem), Midrash, and especially Maimonides. His library contained multiple volumes of Maimonides’ writings, including references to Mishneh Torah and The Guide for the Perplexed.

Furthermore, Newton actively integrated Jewish sources into his scientific and theological work. He drew on Maimonides’ writings about the Jewish calendar and measurements of Solomon’s Temple, viewing the Temple as a microcosm of the universe that revealed God’s design.

His meticulous studies of the ancient Jewish cubit (amah) and comparisons with the Great Pyramid informed his calculations of the Earth’s dimensions and supported his theory of gravity.

He documented this research in works such as A Dissertation upon the Sacred Cubit of the Jews.

Scholars suggest Newton concealed these interests during his lifetime to avoid professional backlash in an era that favored pure rationalism over religious scholarship.

The article concludes that Newton’s effort to harmonize ancient scriptural wisdom with modern science represents an underappreciated dimension of his legacy.

Shavu’ot [Pentecost according to the Hebrew calendar] begins at sundown tonight, May 21, and concludes at nightfall May 23.

Israel is walking daily under the shadow of possible war. According to President Donald Trump, renewed attacks are only an hour away, an escalation that could unleash missile barrages upon Israel and the Gulf states.

Yet despite the conflict with Iran plans are still going forward for our 10th Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast in the City of the Great King. Soon hundreds of believers with gather in Israel’s capital city to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

We are praying for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem once again. According to Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast director Albert Veksler, “God poured out His Holy Spirit fifty days after one of the darkest moments in Jewish history, the crucifixion. Throughout history the nations have accused the Jewish people of deicide, yet God chose Jerusalem to pour out His Holy Spirit on the Jewish people and that movement hasn’t stopped yet as it spreads throughout the world. While our sins are grievous before the Lord, we remind Him of His covenant and love revealed in that first outpouring, the early rain. May the latter rain now come upon us with power and mercy."

Yes indeed! Acts 1:8 promised, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Our calendars are so mixed up that only God truly knows what time it really is.

Shavu’ot in Hebrew means weeks, plural, the Festival of Weeks. According to instructions in Leviticus 23, every day in the 50 days from Passover to Shavu’ot the days are counted—it’s called the counting of the Omer, the sheaf of the First Fruits harvest.

The counting ends at Shavu’ot, 7 weeks later.

In Hebrew the Counting of the Omer is called ספירת העומר Sefirat Ha’omer, or The Day of Waving, or Waving the Omer sheaf. The first day of counting is called the Early Firstfruits when sheaves of grain are lifted and waved before the LORD.

The counting began in Bible days when a measure of barley called an Omer was offered in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

On a spiritual level, the counting mirrors the journey of the Jews’ ancestors in the desert who spent these 49 days in spiritual preparation and anticipation…between the Exodus (on Passover) and the Giving of the Torah (on Shavu’ot)

The final day is called the Later Firstfruits.

Pentecost is derived from the Greek word pente meaning 50. The fact that Luke, author of the Book of Acts, described the arrival of Pentecost in Acts 2: 1 as fully come, indicates that the early disciples were counting the days of the Omer, as all observant Jews would have been doing.

Unfortunately the Church world has not taught on the fascinating window of time between Passover and Shavu’ot. Presently we are concluding a 7-week time tunnel connecting Passover and Shavu’ot.

One of my Israeli friends named his son Omer because he was born during the days of counting of the Omer. Today Omer is an Israeli Army officer but he was just a boy when I first met him, and so hearing his name explained was the very first time I had ever heard about the concept of counting the Omer, although I have been a Bible believer all my life. I certainly never heard anything about counting the Omer in church. No doubt today omer counting is unknown to 99.9 per cent of the churches who do not yet have a solid foundation in the Hebraic roots of Scripture. It's not an easy concept to grasp.

It’s fascinating that Yeshua did not complete the full omer count in his post-Resurrection appearances but rather He ascended to the Father on the 40th day of counting the omer. Bible scholars often speak on the meaning of 40 in the Bible. In eternity we will contemplate these deep things. So Jesus ascended to Heaven on the 40th day of the omer, and He sent the Holy Spirit at the end of the omer count. This is the day when the Holy Spirit was sent to the believers waiting in the Upper Room and when the Apostle Peter spoke in Acts Chapter 2 to the pilgrims who came to the Temple in Jerusalem.

“And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2: 2-4)

Since the window between Passover and Shavu’ot is a time set apart in Holy Scripture, surely it is a concept to study! During this time the omer is counted daily, and for the Jewish people there are scripture readings. There is a great count-down, or count up? to Pentecost! To many of us, it is a totally foreign concept, yet the counting of the omer has always been here in the Bible. It was a practice which Jesus and his disciples certainly knew.

All of the Levitical Feasts of the Lord have deep meanings concerning Messiah. The New Testament is concealed in the Hebrew Bible and the Hebrew Scriptures are revealed in the New Testament.

The seven weeks to Pentecost were, of course, the harvest season.

Rabbi Shaul, the Apostle Paul, a Pharisee of Pharisees, participated year by year in the Levitical feasts, including the Feast of Firstfruits during Passover. That is why, in a very Hebraic way, Paul declared in 1 Corinthians 15: 20, “Now is Messiah risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.”

The seven weeks to Pentecost begins with “a sheaf of the firstfruit” and end with the loaves of “bread of the firstfruits” being “waved,” that is, ascending upwards, to the Lord. Jesus died and fell into the ground as the grain of wheat. He prophesied in John 12: 24, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” In resurrection, Jesus the Bread of Life “bore much fruit.” The Church, the Body of Christ, sprung forth from that one “grain of wheat” which fell into the ground and died– Jesus himself.

Now let’s go back to the early Resurrection morning of the “first day of the week” that leads up to Pentecost, to examine the account as recorded in John Chapter 20.

As soon as Mary Magdalene recognized the Lord and heard Him call her by name, her first instinct was to do what the other women did an hour or so later — they held him by the feet and worshiped him.

But at that point in time, Jesus could not allow Mary Magdalene to touch him, and He tells her why it was impossible at that particular moment. In John 20: 17 and 18, he said to her, “Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” According to Leviticus 23: 14, it was forbidden for anyone to touch the new harvest until the first sheaf had been offered to God. Furthermore, this holy offering was to be presented in the morning, and without a doubt, Jesus the Bread of Life, ascended to His Father at the hour of the morning sacrifice. This hour was the “third hour of the day”–that is, from 8 to 9 o’clock in the morning.

It was from this hour of the firstfuits presentation to God that the seven weeks to Pentecost began to be counted, and we know that it was at this same hour—9 o’clock in the morning!—that the day of Pentecost in Acts Chapter 2 was also marked by the descent of the Holy Spirit.

Now, going back to resurrection morning, Jesus ascended to His Father, as the “firstfruits” of a mighty harvest throughout history that will soon be completed. Multitudes of souls are being gathered from every nation on earth. After being presented to the Father, Jesus returned to the Resurrection garden, in time to greet the other women who came to visit the now empty tomb. This time He did not forbid the women to touch Him, because “the weeks” of harvest had begun after the firstfruits had been presented to the Father.

For 40 days after his resurrection, Jesus at certain times appeared to his disciples—behind closed doors, and in the open air, and in encounters such as his conversation with two disciples on the road to Emmaus, or on the shores of the Sea of Galilee where he cooked breakfast and ate with his disciples. On one occasion more than 500 of his followers saw Him simultaneously, many of whom were probably interviewed by the apostle Paul, because Paul recorded some of the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus in 1 Corinthians Chapter 15.

One of the most exciting concepts to contemplate is that nearly 2,000 years ago the Holy Spirit was outpoured on the early Church on the day of Pentecost. Now in these Last Days, Scripture predicts that the Holy Spirit will be outpoured once again upon Jerusalem and the House of David. HalleluYah!

We are heading toward the fulfillment of Zechariah 12: 8,

“In that day shall the Lord defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the Lord before them.

9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

Psalm 49:15 potentially illustrates a theme of divine rescue or "taking" of the righteous from death/Sheol, which some Christian interpreters connect to the concept of the Rapture, the hope of believers being caught up to be with the Lord.

The psalmist expresses confidence that God will intervene for the upright, leading to dominion or vindication "in the morning" (possibly alluding to resurrection or eschatological hope).

Some believers see Psalm 49: 15 as a typological or thematic parallel: God sovereignly delivering the righteous similar to the experiences of both Enoch and Elijah.

Let's look at a Hebrew word study on "snatched"/"taken" (לָקַח, laqach) as supplied by my favorite website biblehub.com:

Root: לָקַח (lāqaḥ). This common verb appears over 900 times in the Hebrew Bible. Core meanings include: to take, seize, carry away, or fetch (physically or figuratively). To receive, accept, or bring into a relationship/place. Contexts: Taking a wife (marriage), taking plunder, taking hold of something, or God "taking" someone in judgment or blessing.

Psalm 49:15 conveys God actively receiving or taking the psalmist's soul/nefesh (נַפְשִׁי) out of Sheol's hand/power (מִיַּד־שְׁאוֹל). Some translators render it dynamically as "snatch" to emphasize deliverance.

Now here's what I found profoundly interesting: this same root appears in Genesis 5:24 concerning Enoch who never died:
וְאֵינֶנּוּ כִּי־לָקַח אֹתוֹ אֱלֹהִים ("and he was not, for God took him" — lāqaḥ 'ōtô 'ĕlōhîm).

Enoch "walked with God" (הִתְהַלֵּךְ אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים), then simply "was not" (disappeared from earth) because God took him. In the New Testament, Hebrews 11:5 interprets this event as Enoch being "translated" so he would not see death — a bodily removal to heaven.

While Jewish tradition often sees Psalm 49:15 as post-death vindication or resurrection hope, some Christian readings also see it foreshadowing the Rapture or the Church's gathering to the Lord.

Hebrew poetry is rich and multilayered, so the "laqach" connection strengthens a theme of God's intimate, rescuing action for the faithful.

Furthermore, Elijah's bodily assumption to heaven in 2 Kings 2:1-18 uses the exact same Hebrew verb as Enoch's translation!
לָקַח lāqaḥ — “to take”
2 Kings 2:1: “. . . when the LORD was about to take (laqach) Elijah up to heaven by a whirlwind…”

This is the identical root word used in Genesis 5:24 to describe the disappearance of Enoch: “Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him (laqach).”

In both cases, God sovereignly grabbed the righteous person bodily from earth into heaven without death. HalleluYah!

This shared language (along with Psalm 49:15’s “He will take me”) creates a biblical pattern of divine body “snatching” or translation for the faithful — a strong picture often linked to the New Testament hope of the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

Enoch and Elijah stand as the two clearest examples of living believers taken directly to heaven.

In the New Testament the key Greek verb for the Rapture is “harpazō” — translated “caught up” or “snatched up” (the origin of the word “rapture”).

Harpazō in 1 Thessalonians 4:17
“…we who are alive and remain shall be caught up (harpagēsometha) together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…” The core meaning is to seize, snatch, carry off suddenly and forcibly. Believers will be “harpooned” (same root) by God’s irresistible action.

This pictures a sudden, forceful rescue of living believers from earth (along with the resurrected dead) into the Lord’s presence, mirroring the Hebrew verb לָקַח (laqach — “to take”) used for Enoch and Elijah.

Therefore both “laqach” (OT) and “harpazō” (NT) describe God sovereignly evacuating His people bodily to heaven without death — forming a clear biblical pattern of divine “snatching” or translation for the righteous.

Finally, the Hebrew word in messianic circles for “rapture” is “natzal.” נָצַל (natzal) is one of the richest words in the Bible for this concept, meaning to be snatched away, rescued, delivered, or pulled out of danger. While the English word “rapture” itself comes from the Latin translation (rapturo) of the Greek New Testament, the underlying meaning ties perfectly back to natzal. Both terms capture the physical action of being instantly rescued from a place of danger. [1]

From sundown this Friday, May 15, 2026, to nightfall on Saturday, May 16, 2026, President Trump has encouraged a voluntary "national Sabbath" (“Shabbat 250”) observance. [Photo courtesy of Jonathan Feldstein]

This marks the first time a sitting U.S. President has explicitly called for a national Shabbat observance in a formal proclamation.

During America's 250th anniversary year (semiquincentennial), this is a call in President Trump’s official Jewish American Heritage Month 2026 proclamation for Jewish Americans—and by extension, people of all backgrounds—to observe a day of rest, reflection, gratitude to God and appreciation for the nation.

The text of the President’s proclamation states: “In special honor of 250 glorious years of American independence... Jewish Americans are encouraged to observe a national Sabbath. . . .This day will recognize the sacred Jewish tradition of setting aside time for rest, reflection and gratitude to the Almighty.”

President Trump also called on all Americans to rededicate the nation to the Almighty on Sunday May 17 during this special anniversary year at the national mall in Washington, D.C.

In his shabbat proclamation, Trump referenced Jewish contributions to America and echoed founding-era respect for religious liberty (e.g., George Washington’s letter to the Touro Synagogue). In his letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1790, President Washington stated, “May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.”

Since the earliest days of the American Republic, Jewish Americans have helped build the cause of liberty and sustain the greatness of the USA. Among them was Haym Salomon, an early supporter of the war for independence. Salomon was instrumental in the success of the Continental Congress and Founding Fathers, and rallied support for freedom. He was a zealous advocate against tyranny, and even after imprisonment by the British Crown, he continued his work in defense of freedom. In the end, he gave everything to the success of the American Revolution. Like so many Jewish Americans who follow in his footsteps, Salomon’s legacy stands as a testament to the unshakable belief in the American promise. Some would call it the American dream.

In the same letter to the Hebrew Congregation at Newport, President Washington proclaimed that the United States “gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance.”

At the same time, also beginning this Friday, Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), has called for a 50-day prayer initiative titled "One Nation Under God." It will run through July 4, 2026, culminating on the United States’ 250th anniversary (semiquincentennial).

Format: Each day at noon, a short video will feature a pastor from one of the 50 states leading a focused prayer for the nation — covering homes, schools, government, society, churches, and culture. Franklin Graham will begin on May 15 and conclude on July 4.

Goal: To call Christians to unite in prayer for national repentance, revival, and a return to God. Graham emphasizes that America is at a crossroads and that “the only hope for us as individuals and for America is the Lord, Jesus Christ.” His initiative draws on Psalm 33:12: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

Let’s take a fresh look at Jesus’s most famous female disciple— Mary Magdalene.

Not only is she portrayed in the Gospels as the first announcer of the Resurrection, but in the Ethiopian tradition, Mary Magdalene is called the “Apostle to the Apostles” who continued missionary work and demonstrated gifts of healings and miracles.

The Canon of the Ethiopian Bible contains more books than the Protestant or Catholic Bibles.

In the Ethiopian tradition, Mary Magdalene preached the Gospel, prayed for the sick, helped to establish early Christian groups—highlighting faithfulness and resurrection proclamation. In Eastern Orthodoxy Mary Magdalene was never portrayed as a former prostitute; in fact nowhere in the New Testament is she described as a once immoral woman.

According to Luke Chapter 8: 1-3, Jesus itinerated from village to village, accompanied by The Twelve disciples and also by a band of many loyal women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases.

These included Mary Magdalene from whom seven demons were cast out, and also Susanna and the wife of the manager of King Herod’s household, Joanna, besides other women.

The Gospels explicitly state that Mary Magdalene and these women supported Jesus’s ministry financially from their own resources.

Women as financial backers of an itinerant male preacher were strikingly unconventional—even radical—in the patriarchal culture of first-century Judea.

Therefore, far from diminishing the Gospels, this detail about the role of women strengthens the historical credibility of the New Testament.

Fabricated legends would have been far more likely to depict women in passive roles, not as active patrons.

So again, I’d like to emphasize that the New Testament never described Mary Magdalene as a sexual sinner. She is presented as a devoted follower who was delivered from demonic oppression.

The Magdalene witnessed the Crucifixion and the empty tomb, and was the first to see the risen Jesus —earning her the title “Apostle to the Apostles.”

The Gospels distinguish Mary Magdalene from an unnamed “sinful woman” who anointed Jesus’ feet in Luke Chapter 7.

There is no biblical basis for linking the Magdalene to prostitution.

The Ethiopian tradition, on the other hand, depicts Mary Magdalene as a miracle worker and a woman of great authority.

So I was wondering how she became stigmatized as a former prostitute in Western Christianity.

The association with prostitution originated with Pope Gregory the Great, known as the Father of the Medieval Papacy. In a sermon, he conflated separate biblical women, rolling them into one, and interpreted the seven demons cast out of Mary Magdalene as vices, including sexual immorality. But the pope had no scriptural basis for taking poetic license.

Unfortunately this view of Mary Magdalene with red loose hair became dominant in Western Christianity, although Eastern Orthodoxy rejected the suggestion of a former harlot.

In 1969 the Catholic Church clarified her identity; modern scholarship confirms that the prostitute narrative was a post-biblical development, not scriptural fact.

Perhaps the most wicked fabrication concerning Mary Magdalene is that she married Jesus and they produced offspring.

However, to summarize the canonical Gospels: Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower whom Jesus healed of seven demons, a witness to his crucifixion and resurrection, and one of the women who traveled with him and the disciples—yet the Gospels never hint at any romantic, marital, or sexual relationship, nor do the Gospels mention Jesus having a wife at all. Claims often rely on later, non-historical Gnostic texts like the Gospel of Philip (which uses “companion” in a spiritual sense common to those writings) or outright fabrications from modern fictional books which have been debunked as hoaxes even by their own authors in court.

Mainstream biblical scholars and historians across the spectrum agree there is zero credible contemporary evidence—biblical, archaeological, or otherwise—for a romantic relationship.
