Three Looks to Carry You from Summer into Fall and the Weekend Sales Not to Miss

It’s the first of August and schools are going to be starting. Is it just me, or did this summer go by even fast than most? I’ve got three cute looks that work now, and will carry us right into fall…or hot fall as we tend to have around here.

These looks are all about versatility. They’re polished enough for lunch with friends, church, date night, or travel, yet comfortable enough to wear all day. Best of all, each one can easily transition into fall with a few simple swaps.

Look One: The Dress You’ll Reach for Again and Again

Every wardrobe needs a classic navy dress, and this one checks every box. The relaxed silhouette is flattering without feeling oversized, while the puff sleeves and gold button details give it a polished, elevated look.

I paired it with neutral platform sandals (OH…and they are 50% OFF) to keep the outfit light for summer, then added a woven red handbag for the perfect pop of color. It’s amazing how one bright accessory completely changes the personality of a simple navy dress.

Come fall, swap the sandals for Mary Jane’s or a cute flat and add a denim jacket or lightweight cardigan. It’s the kind of dress that works from August well into October.

Look Two: Elevated Everyday Style

If you ever wonder how to make basics look expensive, this is the formula.

A white V-neck tee paired with the most comfortable black pants creates a timeless foundation. Draping a soft yellow sweater over the shoulders instantly adds interest without adding warmth, but also having an extra layer if needed.

The neutral saddle bag and Mary Jane flats finish the outfit beautifully, proving that classic accessories never go out of style.

This is one of those outfits that looks like you spent a lot of time putting it together, when in reality it’s built from simple wardrobe staples.

Style tip: Don’t underestimate the power of a sweater draped over your shoulders. It adds color, texture, and gives your outfit that effortless, polished feel.

Look Three: A Fresh Take on Early Fall

This might be my favorite look of the three.

The striped blouse paired with cream denim feels classic, but the forest green sweater draped across the shoulders brings in those rich fall colors without making the outfit feel too seasonal.

The cream handbag ties everything together, while the neutral Mary Jane flats keep the look comfortable enough for all-day wear.

I especially love mixing warm rust tones with deep green and creamy neutrals. It’s a combination that always feels sophisticated and never overly trendy.

This outfit is perfect for those first cooler mornings when you’re ready for fall but the weather hasn’t quite caught up yet.

Dresses on Sale at Boden I’d Buy Again

Why I Love Shopping Boden Sales

I rarely buy clothing simply because it’s on sale.

Instead, I look for timeless pieces that I’ll still love several years from now, and that’s exactly why I keep coming back to Boden.

The Spanx Styles I Keep Reaching For (And Why They Earn a Spot in My Closet)

There are pieces that look good on a hanger... and then there are the ones you actually reach for over and over again.

You know the kind. They make getting dressed easy. They’re comfortable enough for a full day of errands, lunch with friends, travel, church, or date night, but polished enough that people assume you put in far more effort than you did.

That’s exactly how I feel about these Spanx styles.

I’m always looking for clothes that are comfortable and look effortless but put together. These pieces check every box. The fabric drapes beautifully, doesn’t cling in the wrong places, and somehow manages to feel like loungewear while looking completely put together.

Here are my favorites.

The Ivory Sleeveless Carry On Set

This may be my favorite neutral set I’ve worn all year. It’s the new “Carry On” fabric from Spanx and I LOVE IT!

The sleeveless top has a clean, slightly cropped, modern silhouette that instantly elevates the look, while the straight-leg pants create beautiful movement without overwhelming a petite frame. (I’m wearing the regular length in small and small top)

I paired it with a cream handbag, gold sandals, and warm accessories for a monochromatic outfit that feels expensive.

This is one of those outfits you could wear to brunch, for travel, to dinner on vacation, or even casual Fridays at the office.

Style tip: Mixing different shades of cream and ivory gives depth without feeling flat.

The Black AirEssentials Set

Every wardrobe needs a great black set, (or two or three) and this one does everything. These are the straight leg pants, and I love them. I don’t know why it took me so long to order this style. They pair perfectly with the crewneck tee.

It’s polished enough to dress up with colorful accessories but simple enough to wear with sneakers for everyday errands.

I added a bright beaded necklace and a red bag to show how easily black becomes the perfect backdrop for color.

When I’m packing for a trip, this is one of the first things going into my suitcase because every accessory works with it and I can mix and match the pieces.

The Ivory Collared Top & Straight Leg Pant

If you love quiet luxury, this combination is for you.

While this is technically called a collared tee, it’s really a great popover. The relaxed collar gives this outfit a slightly more elevated feel while still keeping all the comfort Spanx is known for. The pants are just the olive version of the off white above.

This is a look I wear for everyday and travel. It looks put together with ultimate comfort. I’m wearing an XS top and small pants.

The Camel Tank & Short Set

Can we talk about this color? It’s a new release and perfect for the end of summer and early fall. The set is also available in a graphite that’s a washed black.

Camel always looks rich, especially against sun-kissed skin.

This set is perfect for hot summer days when you still want to look pulled together. Whether you’re heading to the beach, grabbing coffee, or running weekend errands, it feels effortlessly chic and oh so comfortable. There are also matching pants that I have on my wishlist.

I finished it with a my favorite straw tote and simple sandals, and honestly...that’s all it needs.

The AirEssentials Maxi Tank Dress

If I had to choose one dress to wear on repeat all summer long, this would be it. It’s the definition of effortless style—soft, lightweight, and unbelievably comfortable while still looking polished.

Pair it with sandals and a straw tote for daytime, then add a denim jacket and statement jewelry for dinner out. It’s one of those rare pieces that feels like you’re wearing your favorite nightgown but looks chic enough that no one would ever guess.

A Little Nordstrom Sale Inspo

It’s that time of year, and you either love it or hate it. HA! I honestly ride the fence on this one. The Nordstrom sale is a great time to pick up a few pieces on sale for fall. These are a temporary price break that will go back up at the end of the sale. You can see the trends and styles that we’ll be seeing.

It could take days to go through everything on the website that’s on sale, so I went through and found things that I like, and I think you would too. Hopefully this will make it easier for you.

If you’re not familiar, this sale is rolled out in tiers according to how much your purchaser throughout the year. Maybe you can already shop, but maybe you’re like me and have to wait a few days. I can shop tomorrow.

Real Life Looks & The Best Sales Today

Summer finally arrived and I’m so happy. It’s been a really slow wind up here in Nashville. I had my first pool day yesterday, and honestly, I don’t know that there is much better than some time spent in the sun for me. Yes, I’m a sun worshipper…but in a responsible way. HA! (of course I did get a little more than I bargained for…LOL)

I just put up a reel this morning with some real life looks from last week. The overall theme is cute, comfy with a hint of chic. I’m not really a fussy dresser, but I love an easy look that still shows effort.

Let me highlight a couple of pieces before moving on….

The “lounge pants” in the first two looks have become some of my favorite pants. They are so dang comfy and look cute at the same time. Oh and they’re on sale. I’m wearing smalls.

I obviously have developed an addiction of some sort to elastic waist pants, something I never used to wear. The oatmeal pair are so fun and flowy (wearing XS) and if you don’t like shorts, both those and the red pair (wearing small) are the perfect pants for you! They’re super lightweight with leg coverage.

I love having cute tops to pull from, and great basics, like a white tank. They make making a look so easy.

Can you believe June is half over? Vacations are in full swing, kids are in camp, and if you’re an empty nester like me….well, none of that matters. LOL.

I do have a fun goal though. When our grandkids are a little older, I want to do “cousin camp” in the summer where they come stay with us for a couple of days, and do all the fun things. Make all the memories and bond. Doesn’t that sound so fun?! I know some people who do that, and it’s been a goal for me for years.

Let’s look at last weeks top sellers. Walmart and Spanx dominated with a few other brands sprinkled in. I have to say, they are allll really good choices.

SPANX CARRY-ON BELTED DRESS - I love this new fabric and style from Spanx. I’m wearing an XS and it fits perfectly. This dress is a closet keeper. The style is timeless and classic. 100% COTTON TIERED MAXI DRESS - This dress sold out almost immediately a couple months ago when it hit the website, but thankfully it’s back in stock. I wear an XS.

ROBIN DRESS - This is a new to me brand and I’m 100% in love. I got this dress and another one and they’re both so beautifully made. This is a cotton knit and super comfy. I’m wearing small.

FLUTTER SLEEVE DRESS - This dress is under $20. Can you even believe it. So cute and the perfect little summer dress. It will also be great for early fall. Just add a boot and denim jacket.

AIR-ESSENTIAL SHORTS - For someone who doesn’t love to wear shorts, these sure changed that. I now have 4 colors and can’t stop wearing them. They’re super comfy and look so cute with all the matching tops.

EMBROIDERED COTTON MINI DRESS - I left this one off the graphic, this dress totally looks like something you’d find in a cute little boutique. If you don’t like to show your arms, this dress is for you. I’m wearing XS

Sunday Findings and A Look At Last Week

Last week was a whirlwind. I started this on Friday on a plane, but the internet I had all weekend was horrible…so here we are and I’m getting it out. I have some cute looks and a few good sales to share with you, so let’s get to it.

Avara had a second release for their summer collection and I got some super cute pieces. You know that Tammy top I absolutely love? It’s back in red for summer. These are truly the easiest throw on ago tops. The new dresses I received are also super cute. I must have been in a red mood when I placed my order, but I couldn’t resist the cute yellow striped dress. It has the cutest detail at the shoulder and be sure to check out the cute scalloped hem. Monday I filmed a lot of try ons. When I get done doing that I just want to put on something comfortable. I wore my Spanx AirEssentials barrel leg pants and the new AirEssentials tee. Talk about cute, but feeling like pjs at the same time. A total winner in my book.

Tuesday I got PRP in my knees. I’ve been sharing this journey on Instagram. I’ve got pretty bad arthritis in my knees, so hopefully this will help relieve the pain. If you’re not familiar with the process, here’s the gyst per the internet…"Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for knees uses a patient's own concentrated blood platelets, rich in growth factors, to stimulate tissue regeneration, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain in arthritic or damaged joints.” My knees were super sore the day after, but are improving every day. It takes several weeks for it to actually kick in a help, so fingers crossed.

Anyway I wore this adorable new top (XS) from the Avara launch and everyone I saw seemed to love it. The jeans are KUT, and you know I love all my KUT from the Kloth pants. (size 2). Again, code COAST15 will save you 15%.

Wednesday I wore the previously mentioned red Tammy top (small) and the Splendid lounge denim (small). Gosh! Not only was it a super cute and relaxed look, it was so comfortable. I’m going to guess if you’ve been around here long you’ve figured out, my style is comfort with a side of chic.

Thursday I put together this look and could not love it more. The pants are the Amazon version of the Ruti pants, and they’re really good. Having said that, I’ll still say the Ruti pants are my favorite. They are slightly shorter and a little less voluminous, but if you didn’t know the difference…you wouldn’t know the difference. HA! The little gingham top is from Amazon and I got so many compliments.

For Friday’s travel look I wore the Ruti pants (size 4) and the super cute denim swing top (size small) from Spanx. I brought my Quince sweater (thankfully) because I’m always freezing on planes. Are you?

Our trip was a quick overnight trip and so I wore the same Ruti pants home with one of my favorite Anthropologie shirts. Super cute, super comfy for travel.

I love Tuckernuck! You? When I need a dress for an event and I don’t want to worry about someone else showing up in the same dress, Tuckernuck is one of my favorite sites to order from.

The Week In Review...What I Wore

This week went so fast…if I don’t think about all the rain...that felt like forever. Finally the sun came out yesterday and it was GLORIOUS! I was able to get out and walk and it just makes me feel better…even when the rest of the day I have to stay inside and work. I’m contemplating my first pool day. Hopefully next week, Katie and I will go and Erin and Will will join us.

I wore this 2 piece set from Benaar. I love both of them. I’ve worn the top with jeans for a super cute look, and the skirt looks cute with a tank. You can see them styled various ways here.

Yep, you guessed it. Same shorts in orange and did you notice the button up shirt. These are so good friend! I have the exact same set in navy. It’s perfect for everyday wear, but I think it’s the perfect travel set, and for vacations. I wear small shorts and XS tops.

These pants are the Amazon version of the pair I have from Ruti in black. I wear them weekly, and usually a couple times a week it seems. They are so incredibly comfortable, and you can dress them up with a heel or down with a casual flip flop. If you try them, I know you’ll love them. While I do really like the Amazon pair, I definitely prefer the Ruti if you feel like splurging. I’ll link both. Up to you. 😉

This is another pair of super comfy Amazon pants I like to put on when I’m feeling casual and sporty. They’re really lightweight and a fantastic option for those of us who don’t love shorts. They pair well with a tank or tee, and I added my newest Spanx AirEssentials shirt for a layer in the AC.

I did a Walmart reel this week and WOW was it some good stuff. Good for summer, good for the patriotic holidays, and the Scoop scuba knit is so good you have to try it.

This is a new to me brand, Dottie Hart, and I’m so in love with it. The quality is beautiful and the styles are classic but fun. I’ve got a 25% off code good only until Sunday night. The fabric is a crepe and you could easily have it cut off to wear as a regular dress after wearing it for a special occasion/event.

More Memorial Day Sales & Top Sellers

Are you shopping? Is it raining at your house? We’re having a soggy Memorial Day here in middle Tennessee. I got out this morning and walked between bouts of rain. Now it’s back to online shopping and sharing the very best deals and finds with you. Just consider me your easy button.

•The Lilly inspired dress. Seriously, this one caught me by surprise. It’s so good from the colors to the ruffle and adjustable straps.

•The cutest striped cardigan that pairs perfectly with the Lilly look dress or so many other summer looks.

•The pineapple print dress. Yes, pineapple. I love the green and yellow and the cut of this dress is so cute. It also comes in other colorways.

•The new AirEssentials button down shirt. When I first saw this I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but then I decided to take a chance and OH BOY am I glad I did. You can’t believe how good it is, and you know that since it’s AirEssentials it’s absolutely so soft.

Hi friends! I blacked out last week and forgot my Substack. Not literally blacked out, but Friday snuck up on me. Let’s catch up!

I can hardly believe we are already almost in the middle of May. We’re about to enter my favorite time of the year. I am a summer girl to the core. What’s better than a cute dress in the summer?

I’ve been sharing some super cute dresses over on Instagram. I’m really in my “dress era”. If you aren’t following along over there, no problem. I’m going to share some here today.
