I’ve renamed my weekly art class from “Prophetic Art Class” to Devotion Art Class. Honestly, I don’t think the old name captured what actually happens in this hour — it’s less about a category of art and more about showing up in devotion: creating, reflecting, and connecting with God through the process. Same class, same weekly rhythm, just a name that fits better.

We meet every Wednesday night at 5:30pm. If you’ve been curious but haven’t joined yet, this is a great time to come see what it’s about.

Four new digital DL graphic recordings, straight from the archive — each one carrying its own story. Some of these were created live, in a single sitting, in front of a real room of people. Others were built slowly over time. All of them are yours this month.

New Wine

Created live in 2021, the very first year of a retreat called Purpose in the Pain, run by Brenda. She held that retreat for four years running, and this is where it all began. I have the artwork from every single year.

This piece came together while the song “New Wine” was playing, and you can feel that surrender in it — a wine glass poured out, grapevines winding through, a heart held inside a cup, and the words surrender, receive, come in woven through the whole thing. It’s a picture of what new wine asks of us: emptying out the old wineskin so there’s room for what God wants to pour in.

That retreat was full of love, laughter, and deep healing — and this piece still carries that whole atmosphere.

A suggestion for this one especially: color it with a friend or two. You’ll be surprised what you notice when you start calling out the words and phrases hidden in the lines — it becomes its own kind of conversation, its own kind of meditation on the Word.

Every Wednesday at 5:30, I sit down with a blank page and no plan. No sketch. No reference photo. Just that day’s Jesus Calling devotion and whatever it stirs up.

Then I make something. Live. In front of whoever shows up.

That’s the whole class. I know it sounds like it shouldn’t work, a blank page and a devotion and a bunch of people watching me figure it out in real time, but it does. Something about watching the piece take shape while the words are still settling makes room for your own truth to surface too. You’re not just watching me draw, You’re creating alongside, or just sitting with it, and either way something usually loosens.

Here’s what I’ve noticed after all these Wednesdays. The pieces that come out of nothing, no plan, no reference, are always the ones people remember longest. There’s something in that for your own life too. You don’t need the whole plan before you start moving.

This week’s devotion is already picking at something in me, and I have a feeling I know where the piece is headed. I’m not going to say more than that. You’ll have to be there.

I have to tell you what this actually is.
