The feeling of summer ending in late August is slightly melancholy. It begins to creep up on you that the long days and warm nights are slowly coming to an end.

For me, though, I’m such a holiday person, so the excitement of the next four months ahead keeps me going. I absolutely adore fall and Halloween. It has always been my favorite season, and dressing for it is so much fun.

My goal this year is to have a very Martha Stewart, slightly nostalgic fall. Going back to the basics. Very 90’s and early 2000s decor. Would you be interested in me covering home decor and decorating? That’s a side passion of mine, ha.

I’ve been seeing women starting to wear plaid button-ups in their blog posts, and it has been making me really excited. We collectively kind of took a hiatus from plaid in the fashion world for a few years, associating it with the extremely preppy, buttoned-to-the-top plaid shirt with a J.Crew vest … IYKYK.

But now we’re circling back to plaid in a more unbuttoned, oversized, ’90s J.Crew catalog kind of way.

I’m thrilled.

But, not to get carried away, I think there is a very special time during the end of August and September when fashion still has some summer influence. There’s still linen, flowy pants, and some sandals, just with lighter sweaters and fewer shorts.

People can often get a little lost when dressing during this time because you can’t quite wear all the sweaters you’ve been seeing online yet, but wearing tank tops and denim shorts can suddenly feel a little out of place.

So, I decided to make a guide for you all for getting dressed over the next month or so.

Or, if you live on the West Coast or in a warmer state, this could honestly be a guide for your entire fall. As a former local, I know the struggle. Haha.

It’s back-to-school season, which means drop-off and pick-up are back in full force, and that can bring even more stress when it comes to getting dressed. But I’ve got you.

Let’s break it down.

The Switch From Shorts to Pants

Repeat after me: you do not need 15 pairs of pants to create good outfits.

You need:

• One or two pairs of jeans you absolutely love

• One pair of fun pants, maybe brown jeans or tan cargo pants

• A cotton pair of flowy pants in a light neutral

• A pair of black flowy pants

1. A black Chanel mini 25. I was walking around in Aspen when I walked into the brand new Chanel boutique and saw this bag. It had been sold out in every store I have gone to, but finally, it was in stock. It felt like a good omen and I had been eyeing it for a while. Did I need it? Absolutely not. But I got it.

2. Khaite Snakeskin Sandals. These are one of my favorite purchases this month. They are SO COMFY! They go with every outfit and add a little something. Truly I am so happy with them and think they are so worth it. I can’t wait to wear them into fall. Love the black as well.

3. Kallmeyer striped tee. I love this top so much and can’t wait to wear it when it gets a little chillier. I’ve already had so many compliments. Just the perfect stripe. I want to buy every single one, they are so soft.

4. Black Suede Studios suede mule. I got these to wear to Pilates and casually run errands. I love the color; they look much more expensive than they are. I would size up a whole size.

5. Pistola jeans. LOVE these jeans. So comfy and fit perfectly. Different from any jeans I own, truly so so good.

6. Reformation grey tank. Love this thing, fits perfectly.

7. Chan Luu tote bag. Obsessed with this bag as my beach bag. It’s so fun and unique. The embellishments are amazing. Love it.

8. Made Some Sportswear. I have been seeing these shorts around and love them so obviously I bought! I recommend sizing up two sizes from your normal size! They run small.

9. Agolde Vintage Parker shorts. Some of my new favorite shorts, the perfect cut and wash. They look vintage. Love.

10. Eterne crewneck. I haven’t taken this off since buying it. It’s so cozy. I love a good cream crewneck. It goes with everything and you can elevate it.

11. With Jean White cropped pants. Love these, have been on the hunt for a similar pair.

12. Guest in Residence Bandana Scarf. This was technically sent to me, but I cannot wait to wear it this fall, I think it is the perfect transitional piece that will spice up a plain outfit. Love it.

Random Buys and Tries (mostly food this month lol)

1. Cotto Dip. This is a cottage cheese dip that is blended and has ranch flavoring in it. A ton of protein and very clean ingredients, so yummy.

2. Horombles Protein chocolate snickers bar things. Less than a gram of sugar and ACTUALLY so good.

3. Meadow Lane Chicken Salad Wrap. Seasoned to perfection, so yummy.

4. Interlude Yuzu Matcha Tonic. Omg if you are ever in Tribeca you must get this drink from Interlude.

5. If you like carrot cake the carrot cake from E.A.T is amazing. Order a slice. SO damn good.

6. A Lola Blanket. I finally caved and OMG. The softest thing ever. I get it now.

7. Summer Fridays Sunlit Vanilla Perfume. This is such a delicious perfume if you like vanilla.

8. I finally watched Cape Fear. Finished it in two days… freaky!!

9. I also started watching the Shards, I really like it, some of the acting is okay… let me know your thoughts!

10. I have heard the book They’re Going to Love You is really good, I want to read it.

11. A lot of people have mentioned how amazing the Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra lip gloss is. Apparently, it truly stays on all day, curious to try.

12. I found a facial spot that I really like this month: Rescue Spa. I was so glowy after and I truly felt like my skin looked different for days after.

13. Finally tried a Dot Cake… I get it, they are delish.

It’s been a strange summer in NYC. The weather has been absolutely garbage, but you know what isn’t? The fashion. I feel refreshed with fashion this year. People are really playing with colors and patterns and it is refreshing. (coming from a person who rarely ever wears colors)

Anyways, you know the drill, here is what I’m seeing and hearing…

TREND SPOTLIGHTS

I think we may have a new ‘it’ bag on our hands, maybe even a few.

The other day I saw LSD (Lauren Santo Domingo, Moda Operandi Founder & Fashion big dog) post an outfit carousel of her outfits and I spotted this marvelous Dior bag in her hand a few times. Then a few days later I was scrolling and saw Eva Chen (Head of Fashion at Instagram, also a fashion big dog) post a whats in her bag with the same style of bag. I can definitely see this bag, the Dior Medallion Bucket Bag, being the bag of the fall and winter. It’s spacious, subtle, but refined, comes in lovely colors, and of course, has the classic Dior gold Medallion.

Another style of bag, that has been a little more discussed, but definitely not enough, are the Celine Cube and Celine Rectangle bags. These bags are refreshing. They are small and dainty, add some structure to your outfit but still look chic if you use the crossbody strap (sometimes dainty little bags just don’t have the same effect when you use the crossbody strap) Anyways, I have been dying for one in python, the bag was sold out in Paris but I need to get my hands on it. I see it on the fashion ‘it’ girls but not all over the streets of NYC which makes me excited because the bag is still fresh and new, even though to me it is a total classic.

Celine in general has really been knocking it out of the park this year, I highly recommend following the account Current Celine on Instagram.

Blue Bandanas

Kind of random but I have been seeing specifically blue bandanas everywhere. I think it’s very 90’s and I recently just picked one up for myself.

Vintage Ralph Lauren

The girls have started to shop at RRL and Ralph Lauren again, but this time heavily on The Real Real and Ebay. The evening jackets, the chunky knit western cardigans, the big buckle belts, the paisley print blouses, it’s all coming back. I think we are definitely going to have a vintage RL fall.

Chambray Shirts are back

Denim button ups and Chambray shirts, very western but also preppy. I like it and I need to get a top that matches a pair of jeans I have.

New Finds

1. Liten Studio jewelry - I really want ti make a cutom ring or pinky ring with this woman. She has the chicest designs I highly recommend checking her out.

2. A Janessa Leone Straw Cowboy hat. I love this, I think you can wear it by the beach in a very 90’s way (or Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia way…) I tried it on in the Hamptons and loved it, I’ll probably grab it this next weekend.

3. This amazing Toteme clutch. the pattern is everything, I really want it for fall.

4. This really chic bubble top.

5. These cute white capri pants, I just ordered them.

6. I’ve been eyeing this dress, I think it is so delicate and dainty.

7. These gold ballet flats are everything.

8. I’ve been seeing women wearing these muscle tanks with lower waisted jeans and I really like it. I just ordered this one.

Epicutis Lipid Serum: okay so I've been seeing people rave about this on niche skincare TikTok for a while…but it wasn't until I saw Stassie (Kylie Jenner's best friend) post about it in her unsponsored skincare routine that I actually bought it Lol. Hear me out: this girl has access to the best skincare and dermatologists in the world. If she's using it with zero incentive? I trust.

Reformation Low Waist Midi Skirt: midi skirts are very in and so it this shade of blue. I absolutely love it paired with a graphic tee, mixing tomboy and feminine, and think it will sell quick!

Reformation Butter Yellow Dress: Okay don’t kill me, another Ref dress, but this cut out back slip dress style has been so in recently and I love it. Size 0 is sold out and size 2 is low stock. Run!

The Nili Lotan Shon Pants: They just restocked!! Get them quick.

Love these Levi shorts: they look very vintage, I would size up a size to make them a little looser.

Prada Sunglasses: Prada has been out of stock for a while but I found them on Sunglasses Hut. They are some of my favorite sunglasses, I just tried them on in store and they are so good. Update: I bought them in Rome.

The Perfect One-piece: I ordered this a few months ago and have fallen in love. I’m usually not a one piece person because I prefer a bikini but, the cut and fir of this one pieces is so flattering and sexy. I need it in every color.

Cool Flip Flops: I have been eyeing these, I love the studs, it is a small detail that levels them up so much. As you know, black leather flip flops are very in right now, this is the pair I have and love (just restocked btw), but I also love the studs.

New Active Wear: Form has released some really cute active wear. I just got this sports bra in the mail and love it.

Trend Spotlights

Cropped Pants

They don’t have to be the shortest pants but as long as they show your ankles. Very early 2000s, the older sister of Capris, which were really big last year. I just ordered a pair from Reformation. Can’t wait to see more people wearing them.

Pendant Necklaces

I love a chunky pendant necklace and recently everyone else has too. AtPresent makes one of my favorites right now, but also there are some great ones on Moda . I’ve also recently discovered Timeless Pearly, a Parisian jewelry brand that is based around fun beads and gems, and has a very ‘child-like’ approach to their designs. Everything feels relaxed and slightly imperfect, but beautiful. The necklace on the far right is one of theirs.

Louvelle is still killing it

I got my Louvelle bag in the other day. A croc Balenciaga mini rodeo bag. Incredible. You all need to check out Louvelle to borrow your next luxury item. Perfect if you don’t feel like fully committing to buying.

Courtney Grow’s new collection with Ref

The highly anticipated drop of the Courtney Grow collab with reformation arrived June 1st. I bought the red bikini, red ballet flats, t-shirt, striped trousers and her iconic sequin dress… oops.

My takeaways are: lot’s of purple. Purple is back. Also bright electric blue. Two colors that feel very new to me but are slowly growing on me, at least the blue is. Courtney is known for her satin sandals, she wears a vintage Manolo pair that everyone raves about, so of course she had to make a satin sandal. Satin/silk are very in. So are rolled jeans, I’ve started to see more people buy over sized jeans and roll them over at the top. This can be tricky to do sometimes, so she made pre-rolled jeans. Handy.

Mélisse

Mélisse is a new bag brand that takes deadstock fabrics and transforms them into one-of-a-kind statement bags. They come in limited drops and they are recognizable by their beaded fringe detailing. I purchased one of the bags from their first ever drop, the second my friend showed me I fell in love. I have been slowly seeing this bags on the cool women of NYC and have to share. She just did a collab with Moda Operandi and there are some great pieces.

After teasing us with a few sunny 75 degree days, New York has been uncomfortably chilly. I pulled out my puffer jacket this morning. Insane. That’s Climate Change for ya.

Anyways, this is what I am clocking in the digital world of niche fashion creators I follow, what beauty products I’m hearing people chatting about in the bathroom at the chic club, and what has been selling out fast.

Fashion

Surfer Chic

I know I am not the only one who has started to notice the surfer aesthetic emerging into the fashion content I am consuming everyday. STAUD has a new collection called High Tide, featuring Great White Sharks on their dresses and surfboard clutches. Re/Done had board short inspired pants with a draw string tie. This 90’s surfer aesthetic is making a full come back and I am kind of digging it. I saw a video a while back that a girl posted calling it “Surfer Nephew” which made me laugh, it’s so true.

A few items on my radar that will go quick:

1. The Re/Done Beach Pant, every time I see this pant I am in awe, I just ordered a pair because they finally restocked. Definitely one of the pants of the summer.

2. Zara Button Clasp Blouse. This style has been very in and I absolutely love this color, work over a white tank in the summer or out to dinner. So chic.

3. A.EMERY sandals , with shorts all summer, yes.

4. These stunning diamond drop earrings.

5. Another earring I’ve been eyeing

6. The most perfect pinky ring, I tried it on today and fell in love, so dazzling.

7. The most perfect white ballet flats. These have been growing in popularity and I think they will be so chic this summer. I love the minimalist style of these flats, so cute.

8. Love a midi skirt, the color and material on this skirt is incredible. Would be perfect with a white tee and flats for walking around or out to a dinner.

9. I love a flowy button up blouse with no collar. I am in love with this one from Doen.

Beauty

I recently got my hands on a Anfisa lip balm. I get it now. It’s expensive, but it is so moisturizing my lips feel like they are reborn. I recently just tried their new pink gloss in Angel Cake. Incredible.

Ok this isn’t exactly beauty, but it’s a product I use to look and feel beautiful. This sleep mask. It’s weighted and it’s life changing. Seriously, my sleep score improves every time I use this thing, and after hearing people talk about it forever I finally caved.

I have been using this Uni body oil wash for a few weeks now and have fallen in love. My boyfriend is now using it all up because he loves it too haha. The scent is incredible. It smells so luxurious, the type of fancy scent you can’t place your finger on but it just smells really expensive. The oil in the body wash leaves my skin feeling so soft, I love this product.

Everything Else

• I started watching The Madison on Paramount. I’m liking it. It’s overly dramatic, the characters are all stunning, and I love Michelle Pfeiffer.

• I recently picked up Emma Grede’s new book. People have a lot of things to say about it, but if you are looking to build a business or trigger your growth mindset, give it a read. I like how she talks about making a goal list every year on her birthday. Reviewing her previous year and planning for the future year.

• Still drinking my Espresso Tonics. If you haven’t tried one yet, you need to. They are incredible.

It’s not just sitting in a café watching people pass: it’s peeking at what the chic woman at Sephora has in her basket, clocking the sandals that niche cool fashion blogger posted on her Instagram, overhearing what the stylish mom orders at Laughing Man, asking a Goop associate which skincare items are quietly trending, or catching which facial lasers the women in my Pilates class are talking about.

Silk and Satin Accessories

Silk and satin are trending in accessories. By now we’ve all seen the YSL satin clutch, gorgeous and sold out (I’m on the pre-order list for Bitter Cocoa). Satin is a playful, elegant material: its buttery texture adds femininity to any outfit, and I love mixing a silk accessory into a more masculine look (tee and jeans).

Clarins Cryo-Flash Mask

I haven’t really had Clarins on my radar until recently, but this Cryo mask has recently made it relevant to me again. I have seen at least 4 different people rave about it on the internet this week. (I made sure they weren’t sponsored posts) Apparently it de-puffs your face at the same level that an ice bath would… who knows. I need to get my hands on it immediately, something tells me it is about to be a new cult beauty staple.

Hourglass Face Brushes

I finally caved on these a few months ago after hearing people rave about these for years. Yes, they are in fact worth it. They blend your makeup perfectly in seconds. They are stupidly expensive… for a reason.

I use the concealer and foundation brush.

Epicutis Lipid Serum

I was recently in LA and a very chic friend told me about this serum. It was the cherry on top for me because I had been seeing it mentioned online but I didn’t want to believe it until someone told me in person to my face. Apparently this is the IT serum. It’s not cheap, but she told me in completely healed her skin barrier and helped with her pigmentation tremendously. Look it up on Tik Tok and get back to me.

Chanel Les Beiges Tint

The last time I went to Sephora this was sold out, apparently it is a “your skin but better” skin tint. It has a water base that makes the tint look so natural. I watched this video and was sold. Just ordered it.

Everything Else

Nano-blading: Apparently full on micro-blading is out and instead the cool women are getting micro-blading. A much smaller and finer line tattooed on your brow. I’m very intrigued as regular micro-blading has always intimidated me a little. I watched this video on it.

Flamingo Estate Prinsesstarta Candle: I look forward to every morning when I get to sit at my desk and light this candle. Genuinely the most delicious smelling candle, slightly sweet but also Jasmine-y? I don’t know but it’s absolutely DELICIOUS.

Diptyque Bois Corse Perfume: I got this candle as a sample from the Diptyque store and immediately fell in love. The scent is very underrated, you won’t smell it on every other person, but it is the perfect mixture of musk with sweet, it smells of tree bark and black coffee with an undertone of Tonka bean. So so good.

West Elm Desk: I have fallen in love with the aesthetic desks of Creative directors that are plastered all over my Pinterest. I have been looking for a desk that isn’t only chic, but also extremely functional and can hold all of my random stuff. I found this desk and have fallen in love.

Matter NYC: This has become my go-to healthy take out, it is seriously so so good and a really decent price. everything is so fresh, highly recommend.

DTF St. Louis: A TV series I have been hearing everyone rave about, I finally put it on last night and my boyfriend and I finished the entire thing by tonight. SO good. (Apparently Madison is also a good show right now, that’s next on my list)

STAY

I stayed at the Aman Tokyo. I know. A little crazy, but it’s Kim Kardashians favorite hotel in the world for a reason. The beauty of this hotel is unreal. The rooms are massive, the service is incredible. The food was perfect. The waiter at the breakfast restaurant memorized my exact matcha order and brought it to me every morning the second I sat down. I felt like a freaking princess. The Onsens in the spa are incredible and THE POOL. The most incredible pool. The bar is so fun, there is a chic smoking room for those who dare. Really just an incredible hotel. Even if you just stay for a few nights and then another hotel, it’s so worth it.

I tried and tested many different basics over my life and these are my absolute favorite pieces that I reach for in my wardrobe. The Loewe Puzzle Bag

She is a dang beauty. I love this bag because it is so subtle. There is no big flashy logo in your face. This specific color, Dark Butter, is absolutely stunning and would look amazing with any outfit. It is an extremely spacious bag but isn’t too clunky. It has a a slight slouch to it that I love and definitely will get more beautiful with age. I really adore her. She is on my ‘to buy’ list.

Rabanne Leather Bags

To me, this bag is wearable art. You probably know the Rabanne bags in their metal chainmail form, but the leather disc versions are incredible. I would even say, more everyday. The black is a staple, but that khaki colored crocodile leather is INSANE. Also the burnt sienna color is unbelievable. This bag is #1 on my list. Every time I see a woman with this bag I stare in awe.

Khaite Bag

Khaite makes some really beautiful bags. Again, with the Khaite bags, I love their subtlety. The Emma tote (white is coming soon) has been one of the hardest bags to get your hands on. I’m waiting for the day it drops. It has a slightly similar look to the Rabanne bag (with the chainmail look) but totally different. The Khaite Simona shoulder bag is also a big hitter. This bag is great for going out to dinners or walking around when you don’t have to run crazy errands. I absolutely love their subtlety pony hair and think ponyhair will always be in / has been in. Finally we have the Lotus tote. I love it in suede but the black leather is also great.

The Row Bags

I might get attacked for saying this, but I am kinda over the Row Margaux. Everyone and their mother has it and the shape kind of reminds me of a Kate Spade bag I used to have as a kid. Don’t get me wrong, it is beautiful, and if you have it, savor it and don’t listen to me. If you want something a bit for unique, but still cool, the Astra bowling bag with this funky leather stitching is so refreshing and timeless. I am also loving their Hobo bags.

STAUD bags

I really love Staud. Their designs are timeless and subtle. They are a total cool girl brand. I specifically like their totes. The mesh / woven leather style has been very in, but it is so subtle that I think it is timeless.

This is a great option if you don’t live close to a Warby Parker.

All in all, I really recommend investing in a good pair of glasses. Warby Parker has so many different options. Let 2026 be your year of glasses. If you don’t wear prescription, just get them as an accessory without a prescription! Or maybe even some blue light lenses. They would make a great holiday gift for the loved one in your life who has a high screen time.

For the Cool Mom

1. A classic pajama set. To me pajama sets are the uniform for your home. I love waking up in the morning and walking around in my matching set or putting it on after a shower in the evening. This one reminds me of a set you would see in a Nancy Meyers film and I swear I saw Gwyneth P wear something similar recently.

2. A Choker Necklace. I have seen these gold necklaces with a diamond on the chicest women. This one looks very similar to the Jessica McCormack version. I have it and wear it all the time. Plus you can buy different charms to put on it. (like the fish charm)

3. Suede Loafers. I love a good suede loafer. I wear mine almost everyday and find that they go great with most outfits. They are a staple in my wardrobe and I really love the cut of these.

4. Retrouve. My mom raves about this skincare line and so do a lot of the cool moms of LA. It’s not cheap, but it’s a perfect item to receive as a nice gift or to ask for. The face lotion is insane as well.

5. A Doen Blouse. I love the Hendry blouse, I wear it all the time, but Doen is such a cool mom brand. I would love to receive a Doen blouse as a gift.

6. Oribe Shampoo. All of the Oribe products are amazing, but specifically if you know someone who is blonde, this is the ultra-lux hair trio for blonde beauties. This set seriously works wonders and is such a fancy and fun gift to get.

7. Janessa Leone hat. This is the ultimate cool mom hat. I posted this on my story the other day and DMs came flooding in. It is beautiful. It is perfect for my walks, for the beach, for vacation. Very deluxe and so worth it.

8. Argyle Sweater. Argyle is very in and I love this Alex Mill sweater. It’s so cozy and fun. Much more exciting to receive than a boring cashmere plain sweater.

9. Biologique Recherche products. Another cult cool mom brand. I have heard incredible things about this mask and the actual results that come out of it. Again, not cheap, but a great gift.

10. Staple Sunglasses. Everyone loves a good sunglasses that they can bring into their rotation. Brown tinted lenses in this square shape have been very in. Love them.

11. A Luxury Sweater. Lou Lou de Saison is one of the most deluxe and soft brands. This soft cardigan is amazing and I want it so badly. The cut of it is beautiful and it counts as a jacket too, right?

12. An incredible pair of jeans. These are some of my favorite jeans. They look great on everyone, especially someone with longer legs. They are also SO comfortable, I can’t say anything bad about them.

13. A chic woven bag. I love this bag, a lot of NYC cool moms have it and lug around their kids toys and pilates socks in them. I love the woven design and the color, chefs kiss. They also make it in black.

14. A sexy candle. Everything about this candle is fancy. The packaging and scent, oh my gosh the scent. Very expensive smelling.

15. A cozy wrap coat. I love this coat, it’s on my wishlist. I feel like anyone would love it, it’s the perfect coat.

For the Cool Man

1. Margiela Sneakers. I got these for my boyfriend for his birthday and he loves them. I see a lot of very cool men in NYC and LA wearing these and they are such a great gift. Love the brown.

2. Ray-Ban Wayfarers. These are a classic, look good on everyone. I think men look good in these at all ages.

3. Staple T Shirts. These are some of the most luxurious T-shirts I have found for men. My boyfriend has them in like 10 colors and swears by them. They can be pricey for a Tee, but I feel like men wear these every single day so, worth it.

4. Cool Jacket. Bode makes some of the coolest jackets. I see men wearing them around NYC and I love it. This Central Park Jacket is so fun.

5. A Red Light Hat. These are incredible for hair growth… do what you will with that.

6. A sexy cologne. I love this scent so much, very masculine, slightly spicy and woody. Yum.

7. Cool slippers. Brunch has been the it boy brand. They make slippers that are actually cool and have so many fun styles. I love this pair.

8. A good speaker. If he is really into music, this is an excellent gift. According to my bf this is the “coolest” one you can get. Bose is also a great option if you want more budget friendly.

9. A Theragun. If he works out and doesn’t already have this, get him this. Men love it lol. Great for muscle relief.

10. Fuegia Cologne. I discovered this store in NYC and fell in love. Got my bf the sample pack of 5 and he wears them all the time. They smell so so good.

11. A leather notebook. Men like to journal too. or at least have a notebook to keep track of their ideas. There is something really fun about a leather bound, really nice notebook.

For the Wellness Woman

1. An EightSleep. I have heard endless things about how life changing this is. Just read about it online. One day I will bite the bullet, but if you are looking for something to ask for, this is life changing.

2. The Perfect Pillow. I have done a lot of research and people are saying this is one of the best pillows out there. I personally would love to receive this as a gift.

3. Acupuncture Mat. People rave about this online. Acupuncture has so many amazing benefits and now you can do it from the comfort of your home.

4. Earplugs. According to studies you get your best sleep in a silent room. These wellness community has been getting into these for sleep and they are also amazing for travel.

5. Magnesium Spray. Put this on the bottom of your feet when you go to bed and watch yourself pass out. So many studies showing Magnesium oil aids in deep sleep. Cymbiotika is the deluxe brand.

6. Sleep Spray. I have this. it smells amazing. Unreal. One of the best sleep spray I have ever had.

7. A Nodpod. Another big moment in the sleep and wellness community. Apparently it is very soothing to your face muscles when you sleep and blocks out all light. I want one.

8. A Juicer. Everyone loves a cold pressed juice, but they get really pricey. Give the gift of a juicer to your wellness friend who doesn’t mind spending time in the kitchen, our yourself!

9. A Red Light Mask. I have a red light mask and LOVE it. I have heard great things about this mask in particular. So many benefits and such a good gift.

10. Really Cozy Pajamas. These Eberjay pajamas are some of the softest and most buttery pajamas I have ever worn. The wellness guru loves good sleep. This set makes sleep so much for enjoying.

Doen

Doen for me is always a staple. No matter what city I am in, if I hear there is a Doen, I stop in. Even though you can see everything that is in store online, I love to go into stores like this to feel the textures and test the fit. The store can be packed on a weekend, so try to go early or during the week, but it is such a charming store.

Isalis

Definitely a younger store, lots of girls in their 20’s, but they occasionally sell a really good selection of pieces from Still Here, Citizens of Humanity, AGOLDE, etc. Great place to go if you are looking for a cute piece to wear to dinner or going out.

When it comes to stores and shopping in NYC I have a few requirements. First off, I want a store that isn’t going to feel like I am walking into its website. I want some character, I want a mood set, I want to fully feel the personality of the brand when I am in the store. I do a lot of online shopping, so when I make my way into stores I truly want to feel the textures and try on the pieces in peace. I don’t want music blasting in my ears or people shoving me into the clothing racks, lol. Secondly, I look for stores that sell a curation of items from different designers. Curation is an art, and if a store can curate its selections from designers in a really tasteful way, I’m sold. I want to be introduced to smaller designers I haven’t heard of! I want to be inspired by the way you dress the mannequins and display the different accessories!

Anyways, I promise I’m not as psycho as this all sounds, I just really want to get across my point that I LOVE a good store.

STORES

Elyse Walker

Elyse Walker has a few locations in NY but her location on Madison Ave has to be my favorite. The only image I could find it this stock image from Google (which was clearly taken 10 years ago…judging by the bright orange leather jacket haha) but the store is incredible. They carry all the niche designer brands and every accessory from sunglasses to bags to jewelry and dare I say an amazing curation of shoes. Go into this store on a weekday and it’s you and all the UES cool moms. Love it.

I spend most of my mornings walking down to Tribeca and stopping at Interlude coffee for matcha before wandering the streets of Tribeca and SoHo. This has become one of my new favorite cafes, and apparently is to the cool moms and women of Tribeca as well. (special shoutout to Robert P, Suki Wtaerhouse, and Charlie Puth, whom I have all seen there this fall) They usually are wearing chic workout sets (from alo, splits59, set active, and form) with some sort of tote slung over their shoulder.(probably a Saint Laurent 5 a 7 bag) And don’t get me started on the sunglasses. Lots of lightly tinted lenses in blue and light grey (lots of miu miu, celine, and Jimmy Fairly) but also still seeing a lot of Ray Ban Wayfarers.

If I’m hungry I trek to Rigor Hill, another cool mom favorite, and grab a tuna sandwich or their BLT. Seriously, this place has some of the best sandwiches in NYC. Also, this is the place to be seen or people watch, whatever you prefer.

As I walk back over to the WSH, I pass a lot of Tribeca schools that parents are standing outside of. Here is where I see a lot of workout sets with windbreakers and big aviator black sunglasses OR on the flip side, excellent vintage denim jeans, some loafers and a chic camel sweater (don’t forget your eccentric gold jewelry from Broken English or Foundrae) I have also been seeing Saloman XT-6 shoes everywhere. I just got a pair and I now understand. They are soooo comfy, but also quite cool.

For dinner, I love to explore new restaurants in SoHo, NoHo, WV and Tribeca. Recently I have been loving Raouls, Fish Cheeks, Penny, Manuela and Cipriani. Of course I also spot a lot of cool moms at these restaurants. I’m seeing a lot of evening jacktes. Think buttoned to the top, Big shoulder sleeves, silk and velvet. I’m also seeing a lot of choker necklaces and big earrings. Lots of ballet flats (got to love vintage chanel) And fabulous silk bags (Destree makes a great one) and you can forget a Chanel flap.

Here are some outfit inspo pics for your week:

Most wore very little makeup, let their hair fly free (or had a natural blowout), and kept their manicures simple. But the kicker was that none of them dressed exactly the same. Some leaned more tomboy—think Moussy baggy jeans and a trucker hat—while others were more glamorous, decked out in Adina Reyter and Sophie Bille Brahe. There was no single type. So what was their style? What made them cool? Was it just that they were rich? That question lived in my mind for years.

When I was 18, I moved to New York City for college. I went to NYU and was immediately immersed in the city’s fashion world. When I wasn’t in class or at my internship at DVF, I was roaming the streets of SoHo, Tribeca, and the Upper East Side, admiring the women who filled them. I started to notice that same kind of style I’d seen in Brentwood. I began referring to them as the NYC Cool Moms.

Are they all moms? No. But I’d often see many of them outside the prestigious schools in Tribeca and on the Upper East Side, so the name stuck. They were too old to be in college but still had that young, carefree coolness about them.

My social media is an attempt to capture what they wear—for those of you who also love their style. I don’t just focus on the NYC Cool Moms, but they’re what started it all for me. And that’s Cool Monologue: my digital documentation of these women and their style.
