LET’S WAIT FOR THE VOTE!

Soon, the people will be front and center as the most important political event approaches. Election Day is the time for citizens to be heard and appeal for changes where they are needed—the opportunity to say how their lives should proceed. But the present administration is curtailing the people’s voice by interjecting demands that take away the freedom to be heard. Why is this administration so afraid of the people? No one can anticipate fraud or ensure it will happen until it happens. The right to vote must go on unpeded as a right of citizenship. However, the very people who suffer the most when political policies affect them are the ones being asked to forfeit their say. It is a dilemma that shouldn’t even exist. Regardless of polls or pundit opinions, no one knows how people will vote until they do. So why are the courts entertaining Trump’s efforts to distort free elections?

The addiction to control what is no longer within their grasp is not being satisfied. The ability to vote freely must be tampered with in as many ways as possible to satisfy the craving for power. Deceit and dishonesty exist with an expiration date, but the truth is everlasting. Republicans have chosen dishonesty, and time is expiring; the unforeseen consequence is hitting home. Lies and economic inequities have taken their toll, and people are looking forward to being heard. This issue is being handled as if a negotiated compromise will resolve it, when what’s at stake is the Constituiton and the assurance of one citizen, one vote as a legal mandate. Even the Supreme Court Justices must admit it is a crime to deny a free and fair election. The right to vote is every citizen’s right, including the very people attempting to tamper with the process. The people may fall victim to economic inequality and suffer through it, but to be denied the right to vote without restrictions in any form is reason to revolt against a government that no longer relies on the United States Constitution. This issue goes beyond the November 3rd elections; it is about the very existence of America.

America is a vast nation and, regardless of those anti-DEI proponents, a diverse country where people coexist in communities across the country. But unfortunately, the majority of the country is apolitical and accepts government as necessary to provide basic services. It is folly to expect this majority to engage in a revolution when they don’t understand or care about their rights as citizens. They are not bad people, but definitely ignorant of the facts. Engaged voters are pseudo-representatives for this mass of people as they fight for the rights of every American. The reality is a few million people- Republicans, Independents, and Democrats decide the direction of the government. One, it reveals why the number of voters is so critical, and two, why a threat of revolution lacks leverage.

China’s Mao Tse Tung used to call America a Paper Tiger, meaning it roared but lacked real might. America’s power has been preserved in secrecy, and political power conveyed through diplomacy. But under Trump, bad decisions made by inept people have made Mao’s words ring true. The optics of the war with Iran are one of dissatisfaction and embarrassment. The kind of sentiment people take to the polls. And this particular sentiment affects all voters regardless of party. Attempts to deny mail-in voting and clog the process with citizenship ID demands are an effort to dilute voter dissatisfaction with the war. This sentiment, added to living affordability issues, may not result in a Republican loss, because we will not know until it happens. What is certain is that it will be in voters’ minds.

The attention this constitutional conflict deserves is obscured by media distractions fueled by Trump’s drama. In essence, we shouldn’t give a fuck about the following:

1. Trump’s marriage or his golf game.

2. His corruption-we know his financially dishonest pedigree.

3. His family of grifters.

4. The mangled Epstein scandal-nothing will be resolved.

5. The ballroom and gaudy projects to force his name on America before he dies- a narcissistic act of self-affirmation.

6. Any publicity stunt to anoint himself as a great man.

7. The Late Night jokes. There’s nothing funny about Trump.

What we must give a fuck about is his intention to cheat the election in the Republicans' favor with acts of military intimidation and potential ICE violence. The desperation is obvious in his rants against women in the news media; a narcissist’s greatest fear is to be belittled by a woman. And a rash of humiliating events are taking their toll. Even the renaming of the Palm Springs airport in Florida has aroused people to reject the change; a clear example of people being tired of his fucking name.

I don’t find it naive to expect this historical election to be decided as simply as adhering to one person, one vote. The complexity evolves when the guilty-minded expect retribution and controlling the outcome is an act of survival. But the Piper awaits payment, and he only accepts the truth as currency. Trump pesos will not do. So much wealth is being invested to confuse the public into believing fraud is rampant and to avoid the Piper altogether. But when the foundation in rejecting free elections depends on the honor of untrustworthy people, they are relying on the honor among thieves; where, as we know, there is none. So, let’s wait for the votes to be counted, and will take it from there.

HAKEEM JEFFRIES

Much has been written about Hakeem Jeffries meeting with Jared Kushner to discuss issues that are mostly Trump’s inhumane policies, none of which would change without the mob boss's consent. I am compelled to add my two cents because Jeffries met with an opportunistic grifter who has taken part in robbing America blind, along with his wife and father-in-law. Further, on a personal level, Jeffries, like so many Black people, is not considered socially equal by these people. At a time when the Democratic Party is fighting for unity to relieve the nation from Republican neglect, the optics of the meeting are one of betrayal. Absolutely nothing can be gained by meeting with Kushner because their political principles revolve around submission to their will. Hakeem Jeffries should not submit to their will in the name of free Democrats. And Trump has referred to Jeffries in derogatory terms, which I’m sure is shared by Jared Kushner.

Jeffries must realize that his ego must not supersede his responsibility as the leader of the Democratic Congressional Caucus. This time, Hakeem Jeffries should have stayed in his lane and not recklessly veered into a dangerous place.

ANXIETY!

People share attributes that define how they behave in a normal society. These are the religious, political, and social norms that advance society’s morality. But what happens when society becomes abnormal? The greater issue becomes who is in charge of defining what is normal. In America, normalcy is decided by the political party in power, which is not a good thing because it is neither fairly inclusive nor open to rational programming. The American political system is a representative government. The people entrust their representatives with their essential wishes as citizens. And this is where personal responsibility is mortgaged away. Unfortunately, it leaves their political representatives free to decide their fate. Politicians interject their own values that may conflict with the constituents' wishes. It’s evident at town hall meetings across the country: Republican politicians are being booed and ostracized for caving in to Trump’s agenda out of fear of being regarded as disloyal. House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said no when asked if he supports health care for all, as the overwhelming majority of Democrats do. His personal view shouldn’t matter. The Democratic leadership is also under stress because they are failing to deliver change and are too congenial with Republicans to protect the political system. Representative government is being co-opted by personal greed and political salvation. Outside the political cocoon are the ordinary people, voiceless and suffering from political neglect.

The consensus is that the system is flawed because it no longer relies on purposive objectivity. Political cynicism to ensure personal survival is rampant, and a citizenry immersed in racial and social differences encourages our abnormality. I diligently submit that what ails the nation is the anxiety of not knowing what comes next. Worried people are dysfunctional, confused, and unable to decide how to change their destiny. It is like a play with no audience; everyone has a role. I worry about how intense Trump’s commitment is to interfere with the midterm elections and his affinity for violence. Media reporting suggests that Democrats will win in November. Trump is not oblivious to the possibility, and he is minimizing his anxiety with lies about his invincibility. When the results are in, there are no assurances that the transition will be peaceful and productive. The January 6th experience can be repeated because MAGA is an irrational cult. Their anxiety comes from realizing their existence has run its course. If Democrats can restore sanity, MAGA will lose its place. Democrats are anxious about winning with so much division in their midst. Republicans are obsessed with power and will find themselves subservient to Democrats, a place similar to hell. But perhaps the greatest anxiety is vested in Trump. The exalted hero could be diminished to obscurity as a political leader and written in modern history as an obnoxious villain. The country as a whole is suffering from this form of mental illness. The lack of personal responsibility to engage politically has led us to this point.

This modern society, with all its innovations, relies less and less on human effort. All the basic knowledge is in the device we all carry, so why read to make sense of the world? Everyday life is supported by delivery services, which makes going out shopping for the things we need a stupid thing to do. Soon, even driving a car will be obsolete. What is regrettable is that we are still humans who can feel the pain of being abused by greed and indifference. But society is in transition; those who feel the pain remember when people mattered, but this new society is not concerned with what used to be; they are concerned with today; the past and the future are irrelevant. Once, we believed in the wisdom of old folks, who taught us about life’s perils and how to survive them. What we are seeing in political circles is old people hanging on to be relevant when they should pass the torch. They know the wisdom they would offer is tainted with inconsistencies, making it subject to rejection. Chuck Grassley, McConnell, and Trump. Bernie Sanders has managed to be an exception because he can relate to the young. What I find interesting is the lack of concern for the future from these old foggies. They have children and grandchildren, but they believe their children and grandchildren should fend for themselves, as they had to. I understand why they have arrived at that sentiment because human empathy has never been present in these men. And love for the environment has been stunted by greed.

We can discern a lot from the denial of global warming. First, to be concerned about our changing environment means we must be concerned about all the people on earth, including those from “shithole nations.” It is contrary to stringent conservative Republican dogma. It also nullifies greed as an acceptable endeavor. The mindset of the greedy is to hoard nature’s resources for profit and ignore long-term consequences. And the misuse of popular technology is aggravating the situation. Humanity as we know it is being pitted against Artificial Intelligence as two contradictory forces. This is where a lack of basic humanity becomes extremely dangerous because the greedy will submit to AI for its monetary value. Data centers are going up all over the country without the slightest concern for the quality of life. Humans are being sacrificed by the wealthy for the advancement of technology to ensure economic domination by oligarchs. It is creating a population so anxious about their existence because they have become dependent on the very technology that could annihilate the human race. It’s like living in a nightmare and enjoying life in your dreams when you’re sound asleep. When you wake in the morning, it’s back to hell. I wonder all day: is hell a prerequisite to Trumpism?

“It’s complicated.” The pet answer to convoluted actions that are defined as policy. But the truth emerges from the strangest places. Trump has secured his brand of corruption by corrupting the DOJ to ignore his thefts. But where the DOJ has defaulted on its legal mission, Capital One Bank has discovered money-laundering activity, as indicated by its anti-fraud system, and closed 300 of Trump’s bank accounts. Another pesky problem, not for Trump; we all know he’s a thief, but for the DOJ. In the end, it’s not complicated at all. Trump the gangster is no longer a snide metaphor; it is a very dangerous reality. We are expecting the changing of the guard in November, and Trump will face a new brand of justice. I’m anxious to see if the legal system is revised to prosecute Trump, or if we experience Trump’s primitive act of violence. In the end, will Americans bleed for letting Trump be Trump for all these years?

One can be anxious in anticipation of a happy moment or a disturbing one. Like having all the chips on your favorite number as you wait for the roulette wheel to stop. I’m betting on a human response in the elections to dominate the outcome. I don’t worry about the voting numbers, win or lose. But I worry about the humanity of ICE agents and the military when asked to interfere with the voting process. Will they realize they will be dehumanizing their friends and family for the sake of an unlikable and violent man? Has FOX and MAGA indoctrination obscured their humanity? And if the results are negated by the tyrannical Trump, will the people revolt or cowardly submit? I am 80 years old, sickly, with my fighting days well behind me, just running out my clock. I would like to see this election begin to bring to an end the darkest decade in American history. Democrats, in my opinion, have at least 20 viable candidates for president in 2028, many of whom are women. Republicans are so depleted that they can only muster Trump or JD Vance. So, the chances are good for Democratic leadership enabling becoming architects of a better future.

IS THAT YOU, SANTA?

Shooting yourself in the foot denotes an unfortunate lack of judgement. But Republicans have advanced the experience to a higher level; they have decided to shoot each toe individually. The big toe represents the Iran war for sure. Any of the middle toes represent the Todd Blanche nomination for Attorney General, the birthright EO, ICE murders, and the vital small toe, the Dr. Fauci contempt of Congress charge, thanks to an obsessive Republican senator from Kentucky. It should matter to Republican voters because it explains why Republicans are limping toward the midterm elections. And dipping the whole foot in Trump manure will not guarantee healing.

For the Democratic Party, it’s like Christmas in November. So many presents under the tree. The scenario proves how much narcissism is evident in the Republican way of thinking. To believe that corruption, criminality at the DOJ, genocidal ICE enforcement, and personal attacks on a renowned scientist and loyal American would be accepted by the people is ludicrous. I do worry about the number of people who see no wrong with the Republican vision. Individuals who have been damaged by FOX TV and conspiracy theorists. It’s like a zombie force unable to discern any information on their own. They simply follow the bouncing ball. I find it difficult to understand how educated people renounce what they have learned to follow unadulterated nonsense as logic. In Todd Blanche’s case, Republican senators are lawyers or have been legally advised by credible legal minds and should know what criminality is. Political ambition or misguided loyalty supersedes our laws. Voting for Blanche’s nomination can be construed as criminal conspiracy. It’s a very bad thing.

Rand Paul is the first to admit he has it in for Dr. Anthony Fauci. Being in the medical field, one would think Rand Paul would understand the complexities of scientific research and application. And I’m sure he knows science very well. So his actions toward Anthony Fauci are personal. I believe it is an innate hatred by a political conservative who hates the liberal approach to science. But further, the public’s response to Fauci’s eloquence and honest evaluation of a critical pandemic has made conservative Republicans obsolete during a very public occurrence. Fauci was getting all the ink. Dr. Fauci retired, and unlike Trump, he went about his private life as most retirees do. But Rand Paul can’t let go. He wants to humiliate an icon in American medical and political history. To do so, he revealed Fauci’s diary, where his personal notes are recorded. Exposing someone’s personal thoughts has always been a social taboo, and to do it in a public forum an abomination. Dr. Fauci is an intelligent man, much more so than Rand Paul and his Republican friends. It’s like comparing a diamond to gravel. Dr. Fauci outshines them all.

We are in the era of Republican Trumpism, with a corrupt legal system set to jail the sane opposition to their agenda. Knowing that the purpose of Rand Paul’s hearing was to imprison him, Dr. Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. Why should he aid in his own demise? Now, we will see who will be humiliated by Dr. Fauci’s contempt-of-Congress charge. Dr. Fauci, or Rand Paul? However, the greatest damage will be the inadvertent shooting of the small toe. The voters will not forget this unfortunate incident, and Republicans will pay.

Arrogant Republicans understand the limits to their madness, so they are relying on voter suppression tactics to skew the midterm results. They don’t care that they are shooting off all their toes and will limp into the midterms on a club foot. Trump’s Save America legislation will save the day. Republican senators left town, and voters have the false belief that they will reject Trump’s law when they return. But, as the Todd Blanche confirmation shows, Republican senators will please Trump. Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy is taking the heat for the Blanche confirmation, but what about the majority of Republican senators who puckered up to kiss Trump’s ass, including Rand Paul? But trading intelligence for the illusion of absolute power is not sustainable. The Save America voting initiative will gum up the works for all voters. What it will do is minimize Republican participation at a time when Republicans are dissatisfied with their leadership. Democrats and Independents may struggle to produce their birth certificates, but they are committed to seeking political change. An honest assessment of Trump reveals a deteriorating man in an illusory bubble where he is the grand master. He is being depicted as a 4-year-old wrecking the house at will. The 80-year-old child is wrecking the nation’s capital as he pleases, and there are no adults to stop him.

Republicans are examples of Saul Bellow’s words; they are investing their intelligence in ignorance to allow Trump’s illusions. What makes people want to be stupid? What happened to optimism for the future? What happened to parents who wanted their children to be smarter than them? Trump’s administration is composed of some remarkable people, perhaps for the wrong reasons, but remarkable just the same. What goes through their minds after any given day? The transition from the illusory bubble to reality must be quite an experience. And where do they prefer to be?

We must not forget that those questions are also at the center of our Resistance. We’ve been living not as residents in the bubble, but as victims of its existence. The mental anguish we have experienced must be resolved before programming our destiny. That bubble has been our mental anguish for more than a decade. It will take some work to be sane again. We have to be prepared for the bubble to burst. And it will burst sooner than we think. It may burst as the October surprise elections anticipate. I believe it will be some form of a MAGA rejection of Trump. As I see it, MAGA cultists have not been rewarded by Trump’s policies; they are suffering along with liberals because Trump’s policies are designed to enrich the wealthy. It will be a clear and inevitable confrontation among Republican voters. How will the Republican response to an unaffordable economy manifest itself? Will Republicans cross over and vote democrat, or will they vote at all? To choose the oligarchs over the people has consequences.

The mainstream news media and social media provide a cross-section of information, some factual while others hard to believe. I have worked hard to read and not believe until I add a dash of common sense. Groups are made up of individuals who allow selfishness to guide their true beliefs. Because lies and misinformation cannot alter reality, self-interest becomes paramount. During the pandemic, MAGA mothers secretly took their family to be vaccinated when the Republican directive was not to do so. I found it to be a sign of self-interest and common sense. Now, we are faced with a struggle to feed our families and enjoy the pursuit of happiness, all because the oligarchs' pleasures must be considered first. A Republican formula headed for disaster. I have a vision that encapsulates the people’s displeasure: citizens walking with a mallet in one hand and a stake in the other, just in case they run into the monster.

I believe Democrats are being gifted the elections, and only they can screw things up. So, we must keep our eyes on the prize. That’s what common sense is telling me.
