But when I woke up this morning and checked it over my morning coffee, the board completely flipped. Honestly, that makes total sense. Life gets incredibly busy! If you are struggling with both time and tracking down materials, keeping these specific craft supplies in your craft room means you don’t have to waste hours hunting down tools and materials. You can skip the stress and jump straight into the fun part the second you find a free hour on the weekend!

This month’s featured project focuses on taking budget frames, mirrors, and placemats and turning them into elegant wall lighting inspired by Pottery Barn, Target, and Z Gallerie.—honestly, looking at the finished Sussex tube sconce on my wall, it’s hard to believe it started with a few photo frames and some Jenga blocks!

📝 Step-by-Step Instructions

Project 1: The Pottery Barn Inspired Sussex Tube Sconce

1. Remove the kickstands and hanging hooks from your three photo frames with a gentle tug, ensuring you don’t rip the cardboard backing.

2. Prep the two smaller frames by removing the paper inserts while keeping the glass panes inside their respective frames for a see-through effect.

3. Cut a piece of acrylic mirror sheet to match the insert size of the gold frame and pop it inside to turn the frame into a lightweight mirror.

4. Fill the gap between the frames by adhering a custom-cut piece of scrap foam board and cardboard to the back of the gold frame to create a flush bonding surface.

5. Stack the gold mirrored frame onto the largest silver frame, centring it carefully and using Weld Bond and hot glue for a secure, 3D tiered hold .

6. Secure the glass pane to the smallest silver frame using hot glue along the edges, then bond it onto the gold frame using the Permanent Bonding hack.

7. Mask any glue smudges or gaps on the chrome frames by applying self-adhesive silver rhinestone trim around the borders for a polished, cohesive look.

8. Build a custom ledge by attaching a single Jenga block at a 90-degree angle to the lower part of the frame set using Weld Bond and hot glue.

9. Bling out the exposed wooden block with silver rhinestone trim scraps to camouflage the wood and match the luxurious theme of the sconce.

10. Bond a tin lid to the top of the Jenga block ledge to create a floating platform for your LED battery-operated candle pillar.

Project 2: The Target Inspired Sunburst Mirror Candle Holder

1. Start with a gold geometric mirror and ensure the back hanging hook is properly positioned before you begin adding your sunburst rays.

2. Layer silver picks from the Dollar Tree onto the gold frame, gluing them in clusters to create a high-end, textured sunburst effect.

3. Apply tiny dollops of tacky glue along the silver picks where you want to add some extra sparkle; I find applying all the glue first makes the process much faster.

4. Place clear flat-back gems onto the glue using a gem picker tool, mixing different sizes to catch the light from every angle.

5. Construct a sturdy ledge by stacking and bonding three Jenga blocks together using Weld Bond or wood glue.

6. Wedge the Jenga stack into the bottom of the frame at a 90-degree angle, securing it with a strong adhesive to support your candle weight.

7. Wrap the wooden ledge in silver rhinestone trim and add a row of square glass gems to the front-facing part for a brilliant, designer finish.

8. Secure a tin or jar lid onto the ledge with Weld Bond to complete your functional, mixed-metal wall sconce.

Project 3: The Z Gallerie Inspired Diego Sconce

1. Trace the circular shape of your 12-inch wooden panel onto the gold/silver foil placemat using a black marker.

2. Cut out the mesh design with precision scissors, ensuring you have a scrap sheet of paper underneath to catch any marker bleed.

3. Apply gold chrome car trim around the edge of the wood panel, working in small sections with hot glue to follow the curve perfectly.

4. Reinforce a metal hanging hook by attaching it to a scrap piece of cardboard before bonding it to the back of the wood panel with industrial adhesive.

5. Brush a medium layer of glossy Mod Podge over the entire front surface of the wood panel, covering it all the way to the edges.

6. Smooth your foil placemat onto the tacky surface, pressing down with your fingers to ensure it sticks firmly without any raised areas.

7. Bend a metal easel into a 90-degree angle using your hands or pliers to create a custom support bracket for your platform.

8. Bond the easel to the back of the wood panel directly opposite the hanging hook, using the Permanent Bonding hack for instant and long-term security.

9. Glitter a small round wood plank by applying Mod Podge and sprinkling bright gold glitter over the surface; seal it with a final coat of Mod Podge once dry.

10. Mount the shimmering wood platform onto the metal easel to finish your high-glam, textured wall statement piece.

4. Bond a glass candle holder to the bottom of the vase using the Permanent Bonding hack to create a stable pedestal, ensuring it is perfectly centred by looking through the clear vase.

5. Finish the piece by wrapping silver rhinestone trim around the top and bottom rims to camouflage any gaps and add a final pop of designer sparkle.

Project 2: The Geometric Lynx Pillar Holder

1. Bling out two scalloped black mirrors by applying silver rhinestone trim and crystal gem trim, leaving a small intentional gap in the trim on one side to mimic the Z Gallerie design.

2. Reinforce the hollow backs of the mirrors with foam board or packing foam, then sandwich them back-to-back using Weld Bond for a permanent, sturdy hold.

3. Transform a plastic silver bowl by adding rhinestone trim along the scalloped edge and secure it into the gap between the mirrors to form the candle platform.

4. Edge the entire mirrored frame with silver chrome beads to mask the joints and give the geometric shape a seamless, high-end reflective finish.

Project 3: The Golden Egg Candle Holder

1. Combine the gold half of a plastic Easter egg with a gold taper holder by gluing the holder’s opening directly to the bottom of the egg for a unique pedestal look.

2. Mute the bright gold tones by wrapping silver rhinestone trim around the neck of the holder and the rim of the egg to achieve a sophisticated mixed-metal aesthetic.

3. Construct a luxury base by covering a wood plank with golden mini mirror tiles and trimming the sides with two rows of gold rhinestone ribbon.

6. Glue metallic gold lace fabric trim to the edges of the foil to camouflage the seams and add a sophisticated, designer touch.

7. Add a layer of flexible gold rhinestone trim around the very top rim to hide any remaining gaps and finish the luxe look 💎.

Project 2: The Multi-Purpose Coffee Tin Pedestal ☕

1. Prepare your empty coffee tin by removing all labels and cleaning the silver exterior to create a smooth, clean base 🛠️.

2. Paint the top and bottom rims with a gold chrome paint marker; give the pen a good shake first to activate that glossy, reflective finish.

3. Measure your foil placemat using my “Roll & Trace” hack—roll the tin across the mat while tracing the edges with a marker for a perfect, no-rueler fit 📏.

4. Cut your placemat pieces just a few millimetres inside your lines to ensure they don’t overlap the gold-painted rims.

5. Bond the placemat to the tin with a generous layer of Mod Podge, smoothing out the mesh as you go until it sits perfectly flush.

6. Apply matching gold rhinestone or lace trim to the edges to tie the design in with your main vase for a cohesive set ✨.

7. Invert the finished tin to use as a grand pedestal for your vase, or insert an LED puck light to transform it into a gorgeous lantern.

Project 3: The Regal Tapered Pedestal Vase 🥂

1. Detach the base from a plastic wine glass with a gentle tug to repurpose it as your new high-end vase pedestal.

2. Widen the stem’s surface area by wrapping a string of gold chrome beads around it, securing them firmly with hot glue.

3. Bond the wine glass base to the bottom of your tapered square vase using the Permanent Bonding hack (Fix-All + hot glue) for a secure, tall finish 🛠️.

4. Edge the opening of the vase with self-adhesive gold car trim to match your other decor pieces.

5. Layer gold metallic lace trim both inside and outside the rim to camouflage the black backing of the car trim and create a polished finish 🎀.

6. Glue a final string of gold beads along the top rim to hide any gaps between the trims and add a final pop of elegance ✨.

Project 4: The Mixed-Metal Juice Bottle Transformation 🧴

1. Clean a clear plastic juice bottle and ensure it is completely dry before you start your sparkling transformation 🛠️.

2. Wrap the entire body of the bottle from the bottom up with strings of gold chrome beads, using hot glue to anchor them as you follow the hourglass shape.

3. Curve the beads as you reach the middle of the bottle, trimming the strings shorter as needed to maintain a clean, tight fit 📏.

4. Apply silver rhinestone trim to the neck of the bottle to create a striking “mixed-metal” contrast that looks incredibly unique.

5. Finish by checking for any tiny gaps in the beads and filling them with small silver accents to elevate the bottle into a functional designer vase 💎.

Project 5: The High-Glam Crystal Grid Vase 💎

1. Grid your tall glass vase by wrapping it in a clear sink mat and marking the centre of each square with a white marker dot 📏.

2. Construct your custom crystal gems by gluing the pointy end of an acrylic diamond gem into the hole of a silver metallic pony bead.

3. Repeat this process until you have a large pile of “crystals”—the exact number will depend on the size of your specific vase 💎.

4. Adhere each crystal gem directly onto your white marker dots using a tiny bit of hot glue; remember to use a silicone finger protector!.

5. Bond a glass candle holder to the bottom of the vase using Fix-All for a permanent hold and hot glue for instant stability 🛠️.

6. Remove any stray glue strings with a dry paintbrush to reveal a stunning, light-catching masterpiece that looks like it came from a luxury boutique

3. Secure the new panes into each frame using a tiny bead of hot glue along the edges, taking care not to let excess glue overflow onto the translucent surface.

4. Assemble the lantern body by bonding the four frames into a box shape using Weld Bond for a permanent hold, reinforcing with hot glue for an instant 90-degree set.

5. Build the top platform by tracing your round planter onto the cookie tin lid and covering the exposed outer corners with black and silver diamond mesh wrap.

6. Transform the plastic planter into a decorative dome by wrapping it in rows of silver rhinestone trim and adding clear gem stickers for extra sparkle.

7. Craft a luxury handle by gluing a silver candle holder to the centre of the dome and nesting a glass crystal ball inside for a brilliant, high-end finish.

8. Decorate the lantern base by wrapping the body of the cookie tin in matching diamond wrap and edging the rim with rhinestone trim to ensure a cohesive design.

This month’s featured project was one of my favorite dollar store transformations - taking a couple of photo frames and turning them into designer looking wall sconces that actually double as elegant table decor.

I loved this project because it shows that beautiful home decor doesn’t always require expensive materials. WIth a few budget-friendly supplies and some creative touches, everyday items can become the main focal point of any room.

• Clear plastic bath mat (grid/mesh pattern),.

Instructions

1. Prepare your photo frames by disassembling them and painting the front and sides with a thick coat of white paint; if your frames are black, one coat of high-quality house paint should prevent any “ghosting”,.

2. Create your mirror inserts by tracing the frame’s cardboard backing onto the silver cake boards and scoring the lines with a box cutter and level until you can pop out the perfectly sized panel,.

3. Reassemble the frames by cleaning the glass and layering the reflective cake board inside, then secure the metal tabs with pliers if they are too stiff for your fingers,.

4. Bling out the front of the frame by applying silver chrome beads to the inner edge to camouflage gaps and adding self-adhesive rhinestone trim around the entire border,.

5. Finish the frame edges with a gold chrome paint marker rim and glue gold braid lace ribbon to the sides to hide any paint bleeds and add a sophisticated mixed-metal contrast,.

6. Install a heavy-duty metal hook to the back for vertical hanging and construct a custom L-bracket by bending a metal display easel to a 90-degree angle and bonding it to the frame with Fix-All and hot glue.

7. Mirror a square wood tile by covering it with mirror tiles and rhinestone trim, then glue this platform onto your metal bracket to create the base for your light source.

8. Construct the lantern cover by trimming a clear bath mat to fit snugly around a cylindrical vase and embellishing it with gold metal flower buttons for an elegant, light-diffusing texture.

9. Paint the rim of the vase gold to match your frame and insert battery-operated fairy lights to achieve a brilliant, shimmering glow,.

10. Craft a matching vanity tray by decorating a third photo frame in the same style and adhering custom ornament-and-gem feet to the corners for a regal, elevated finish.

• Clear Dollar Tree chopping mat (from a 2-pack).

• Mini jewellery box hinges (bronze or silver).

• Self-adhesive glass gems (3-row strips).

• Silver rhinestone trim (with rectangular glass pieces).

• Gold glitter faux leather fabric (for the interior).

• Silver glitter faux leather fabric (for the bottom base).

• Gold fabric ribbon trim.

• Plywood panel (Dollar Tree).

• Jenga wooden blocks (Tumbling Tower game).

• Silver metallic chrome paint marker.

Tools

• Hot glue gun and glue sticks.

• Weld Bond adhesive.

• Box cutter and level (as a cutting guide).

• Paper cutter or precision scissors.

• Pencil.

• Sandpaper.

• Gem picker tool.

• Silicone finger caps (optional for heat protection).

Instructions

1. Prepare your candy box by setting the lid aside and tracing the base onto a clear chopping mat to create a custom, perfectly fitted new lid.

2. Cut the mat with a box cutter and score it several times against a level or ruler to ensure your edges are straight and professional.

3. Install five mini hinges along the back of the box using hot glue; spacing them evenly is the secret to making sure your lid doesn’t warp or wobble when it opens.

4. Bling out the sides of your box by wrapping them in three rows of self-adhesive glass gems, which adds both high-end shimmer and a bit of luxury weight to the cardboard.

5. Silverise your hinges and the top edges of the box with a chrome paint marker to neutralise any bronze tones and match your silver glam theme.

6. Create a custom lift tab by folding a small strip of glass gems over the front edge of the lid, securing the tail end underneath so it’s easy to open your new treasure.

7. Line the interior by pressing gold glitter fabric into the corners and marking it with a pencil for a perfect fit, then bond it down with Weld Bond.

8. Hide any raw seams or hinges on the inside by gluing gold fabric ribbon along the edges; I love using a single continuous piece to prevent the ends from unravelling.

9. Reinforce the bottom of your box by cutting a plywood panel to size and gluing it to the base; this makes the box feel like a sturdy piece of furniture rather than just a box.

10. Build your custom feet by gluing Jenga blocks into “L” shapes and attaching them to the corners, then wrapping the wood in glass gems to continue the sparkle all the way to the floor.

11. Finish the project by masking any remaining exposed wood with rhinestone trim; this little detail is what really elevates the box to a “boutique-bought” standard.

Project 1: The 3-Foot Cordless Floor Lamp

2. Adhere 30-inch BBQ skewers vertically around the first vase using hot glue, leaving a small gap between each stick to ensure the light can shine through the finished column.

3. Secure the second vase upside down to the other end of the skewers, standing the piece on the floor to verify the structure is perfectly straight before the glue sets.

4. Wrap the areas where the skewers meet the vases with silver glitter foam fabric and mask the edges with silver chrome beads or rhinestone trim to hide any glue mess.

5. Paint the wooden skewers white and glue silver plastic spoon handles lengthwise over each skewer to create a shimmering, architectural metallic finish.

6. Add clear diamond gems between the rows of spoon handles and place one LED puck light inside the top vase and another at the base to achieve a bright, even glow.

Project 2: The Glam Wall Sconce

1. Cover two 12-inch wooden dowels with silver glitter contact paper or paint to neutralize the wood finish and add a high-end shimmer.

2. Insert the dowels vertically into the sides of two chrome napkin holders and secure them with hot glue and nylon zip ties at all four corners to build the sconce frame.

3. Glue silver spoon handles horizontally across the front of the napkin holders, weaving them in a decorative pattern and leaving small gaps for the light to escape.

4. Embellish each spoon handle with clear round gems and fill the gaps with larger diamond-shaped gems to maximize the sparkle.

5. Affix a flat battery pack for fairy lights to the back of the frame and weave the lights through the napkin holders to create a brilliant, cordless wall accent.

Project 1: Elegant Pedestal Vanity Tray

1. Disassemble the photo frame using pliers to open the metal tabs and remove the cardboard backing and photo sheet.

2. Apply self-adhesive silver glitter vinyl paper to the glass pane, using a squeegee to smooth out any air bubbles as you gradually remove the wax backing.

3. Secure the glass back into the frame and adhere four salt and pepper shakers to the corners as feet using hot glue.

4. Snap the handles off 16 silver plastic spoons, trim the edges straight, and glue them in pairs around the frame to create a dimensioned, wave-like border.

5. Embellish the spoon handles and corner gaps with gold metal flower buttons and clear gems to add a sophisticated high-end gold accent.

Project 2: Metallic Flower Pedestal Vase

1. Apply flexible silver chrome car trim around the bottom rim of a clear cylindrical vase, pressing firmly with your fingers to ensure the adhesive takes hold.

2. Adhere three salt and pepper shakers to the bottom of the vase in a triangle formation to create a stable, weighted pedestal.

3. Paint the top rim of the vase with a gold chrome paint marker to achieve a glossy, mirror-like reflective finish.

4. Glue gold and silver metal flower buttons in a unique “vine” cluster cascading down the side of the vase.

5. Add clear flat-back gems to the flower centers and use the dry brush hack to remove any hot glue strings for a clean final look.

3. Assemble the furniture foundation by bonding your tall column box onto the smaller base box, then reinforce the bottom with a square wood pallet sign to make sure your table stands perfectly flat and stable on the floor.

4. Prime all the exposed cardboard edges with a thick coat of white paint; we really want to hide those original box colours so they don’t peek through or “ghost” under our pretty finishes later.

5. Transform your dollar store mirrors with a silver chrome marker and fill those hollow backs with foam board scraps—this simple trick ensures they sit perfectly flush and secure against the cardboard.

6. Adhere one mirror to each of the four sides of your base and use adhesive diamond wrap to bridge any gaps; I find the diamond wrap is so much easier to work with because you don’t have to mess with glue on mesh material.

7. Wrap the vertical column in that beautiful, flexible silver glitter foam; if you have a gap, just piece in some scraps and press the seams while the glue is warm until they practically disappear.

8. Camouflage the joint where your two boxes meet by gluing a string of reflective silver chrome beads around the circumference to give your table base a much more finished, high-end look.

9. Construct your custom tabletop by nestling a silver platter into a wreath form; I use a pencil to draw a guide first so I know exactly where to apply the glue for a perfect, centred fit.

10. Reinforce the underside of the platter with a round wooden pallet using industrial adhesive; this makes your table sturdy enough to actually hold lamps, drinks, and decor without warping.

11. Embellish the tabletop with a mix of gold car trim and metal flowers for a unique two-toned effect; if your platter gets a few dents during construction like mine did, just layer a silver mesh placemat over the centre to hide them perfectly.

12. Lock the finished top into place using “L” shaped brackets made from Jenga blocks; these custom brackets ensure your tabletop won’t slip off, leaving you with a gorgeous, functional piece of furniture!

Tray Design #1: The Silver “Gilded” Vanity Tray

By turning these blocks horizontally, we can create high-end, architectural legs for a custom storage tray. This project combines heavy-duty hardware feel with boutique sparkle, making it a perfect statement piece for your bathroom vanity or built-in shelving.

• Four wooden number 8 blocks

• 4 Large particle board “Number 8” blocks (Dollar Tree)

• 1 Rectangular wood tray (Dollar Tree)

• Silver rhinestone trim (self-adhesive)

• Clear round gem stickers (large and small)

• Faceted glass gem rolls (self-adhesive)

• Brushed stainless steel contact paper

• Silver plastic forks (or spoons)

• Silver beaded necklace

• Silver chrome car trim

Tools

• Wood glue and clamps

• Hot glue gun

• White acrylic paint (or leftover house paint)

• Box cutter and ruler

• Sandpaper

Instructions

1. Embellish the Number 8 Legs: Paint the front and back of your four wood blocks white. Once dry, wrap the inside curves with silver rhinestone trim. Cover the flat faces with a mix of large and small round gem stickers. For the sides, apply two rows of faceted glass gems, leaving the very bottom of the “8” bare to ensure a flat surface for the tray to sit on.

2. Attach the Legs: Turn your wooden tray upside down. Apply wood glue to the top edge of your horizontal number blocks and position two on each of the shorter sides of the tray. Use clamps to hold them in place for 20 minutes until the glue cures.

3. Apply the Tray Surface: Clean the tray surface thoroughly to remove any lint or dust. Apply a sheet of brushed silver contact paper, smoothing out air bubbles with your hands. Use a box cutter to trim the excess away from the edges for a crisp, professional seam.

Note: This design is sized for a standard 25cm x 8.3cm tissue box. Always do a "dry fit" by placing your actual tissue box on the wooden base before gluing the walls to ensure a snug, professional fit.

• Silver teardrop design gift bag or silver craft paper

• Silver glitter fabric (thicker variety)

• Self-adhesive silver rhinestone ribbon

• Faceted square gem rolls (self-adhesive)

• 4 Large diamond-shaped acrylic gems

• Silver beaded necklace

• Silver metallic acrylic paint (or metallic gray marker)

• Miter shears (to cut wooden blocks)

• Hot glue gun and glue sticks

• Wood glue

• Dry paintbrush (for glue string removal)

Instructions
