Like if I just had more discipline, I’d put the phone down and read a book instead.

Then one night I caught myself forty minutes into a video about a man ranking every McDonald’s fries location in his city, and I realized the problem was never discipline. The problem is that scrolling is the easiest possible thing to do with a bored brain, so it wins by default, every single time.

So instead of trying to use my phone less, I started collecting places on the internet that felt like the opposite of scrolling. Sites that reward curiosity instead of numbness.

No infinite feed, no algorithm deciding what’s next, nothing trying to keep me there longer than I wanted to stay. Here are 7 of them, and what actually makes each one worth your time.

1. Radio Garden

Radio Garden turns the whole planet into a dial. There’s a green, glowing globe on the screen, and you click anywhere on it, a village in Argentina, a coastal town in Ghana, a city in Kazakhstan, and it plays whatever radio station is live there right now.

I opened it planning to stay five minutes. An hour later I’d listened to jazz from New Orleans, a talk show in Iceland I couldn’t understand a word of, and a morning broadcast somewhere in Japan.

I keep it open now while making tea, and for a few minutes my kitchen feels connected to somewhere thousands of miles away. The trick is not to search for a country you know. Zoom into somewhere you’ve never heard of instead.

2. Window Swap

Window Swap is exactly what it sounds like. People around the world submit ten minute videos of the view from their actual window, and you get to watch them, one at a time.

A rainy street in Seoul. A quiet backyard in rural Ontario. A balcony over a market in Marrakech. Nothing is trying to sell you a lifestyle here, no captions, no creator explaining their morning routine over it.

Just someone else’s ordinary view, playing for ten uninterrupted minutes. It’s one of the only websites I’ve found where the whole point is that nothing happens, and somehow that’s the appeal.

Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

3. Earth.fm

When my brain feels like it has forty tabs open, I go to Earth.fm. It’s a free library of field recordings, actual microphones left in forests, riverbanks, caves, and mountains, running for hours at a time. No narration, no music laid over the top, just sound exactly as it happened.

I put this on while reading now instead of music, because music still makes me think about the song. Rain in a rainforest doesn’t ask anything of you. If you struggle to fall asleep without your phone doing something, this is a much better habit to replace it with than another video.

4. Internet Archive

Calling Internet Archive a website undersells it. It’s closer to a free digital museum. You can borrow scanned books, watch old films, flip through decades old magazines, or pull up an archived version of a website that no longer exists using the Wayback Machine.

I went looking for one old computing magazine once and came out forty minutes later having read a 1987 newsletter about home aquariums that had nothing to do with what I searched for. That’s the whole appeal. You leave feeling like you learned something by accident, not like you wasted an evening.

5. Atlas Obscura

Most travel sites tell you where everyone already goes. Atlas Obscura tells you where almost nobody does. Secret tunnels, tiny museums, abandoned castles, libraries hidden inside old monasteries, and yes, a church in the Czech Republic decorated with 40,000 human bones.

You don’t need a trip planned to get something out of it. It’s genuinely good reading, written by people who clearly love the strange corner of the world they’re covering. The “Places Near You” feature is worth checking too. It tends to surface something odd within driving distance that you’ve probably walked past your whole life without knowing the story behind it.

6. GeoGuessr

This one is dangerous. GeoGuessr drops you somewhere in the world using Google Street View, and your only job is to figure out where you are.

I guessed wildly at first. Then I started noticing things, the shape of road signs, which side of the road cars drive on, the color of license plates, how power lines are strung. You end up learning actual geography without ever deciding to study it. Go in with a timer if you have somewhere to be, because an hour disappears fast on this one.

7. Neal.fun

If one website captures everything I miss about the early internet, it’s Neal.fun. Every page feels like someone had a strange idea and just built it properly. You can spend Bill Gates’ entire fortune and watch how fast $130 billion disappears. You can scroll down into the deepest parts of the ocean and watch the pressure numbers climb. You can compare the size of every planet in the solar system.

None of it is trying to teach you a lesson or sell you anything. It exists because someone thought it would be fun to build, and that’s rarer on the internet than it should be. I clicked in expecting five minutes and resurfaced an hour later, smiling the whole time.

Conclusion

I don’t think doomscrolling happens because we’re lazy. I think it happens because the algorithm makes the easiest option feel like the only option, the next video is already loading before you’ve decided to watch it.

But the internet is still enormous. It’s still full of people who built strange, generous, pointless, brilliant things simply because they wanted to.

Next time your thumb reaches for the usual three apps, try one of these instead. You might still lose an hour. The difference is you’ll finish it smiling instead of tired.

Thanks for reading! Personality tests, journaling, long walks, asking themselves what their “purpose” is. And then there’s you. Your problem is the opposite. You’re interested in everything. Guitar, podcasting, digital marketing, coding, photography, that blog you’ve been meaning to start for two years.

Sounds fun, right? Except it doesn’t feel fun. It feels scattered. Like you’re at a buffet with a hundred dishes and you’re piling everything onto your plate at once, then tasting nothing properly.

I’ve been there. Machine learning, web development, graphic design, e-commerce, digital marketing, multiple failed YouTube channels. At one point I genuinely thought I was just lazy. Or broken somehow. What I figured out changed everything, and it’s going to save you years of frustration. You don’t have a passion problem. You have a strategy problem.

The whole system, school, careers, success stories, was designed for specialists. Pick one thing, go deep, become the best. That works great for some people. But if you’re someone with multiple interests, the system makes you feel like you’re doing it wrong. So you try to commit.

Let’s say you go hard on graphic design for three months. Photoshop, tutorials, practice projects. You’re feeling good. Then something new catches your eye, video editing or writing or investing, and suddenly graphic design starts feeling like a chore. You switch. The cycle repeats.

The problem isn’t that you have too many interests. The problem is you think every single one of them needs to become your career. Every hobby has to be monetized. Every skill needs to become your identity. And when you can’t commit 100%, you feel like a failure. There’s a different way to do this.

Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

Step 1: Stop trying to pick just one thing

You’ve already tried that. How’d it work out? You’re fighting your own nature. Instead of forcing it, accept that you’re wired for multiple interests. That’s not a flaw. The goal is to organize those interests in a way that actually moves your life forward.

Step 2: Sort everything into three buckets

Grab a piece of paper and list out every single thing you’re curious about. Everything, no filter. Then divide them.

Bucket one is your money maker

The one skill with the most realistic chance of paying your bills in the next one to three years. Not your deepest passion, not the thing you’d do for free forever, just the thing that checks these boxes: you’re already somewhat decent at it, there’s real demand for it, and you don’t hate doing it. Writing, coding, video editing, sales, marketing. Whatever fits. That’s your anchor.

Bucket two is your soul stuff

The things you do because they make life feel worth living. Painting, hiking, cooking, reading. These are not side hustles. They’re not content ideas. They’re just yours. The internet will tell you to monetize your passions, but that’s a great way to ruin the things you actually love. Let some things just be for you.

Bucket three is the curiosity shelf

Learning Japanese, studying astronomy, whatever else is rattling around in your head. You’re not saying never. You’re saying not right now. These will still be there when you have more time and mental space.

Step 3: Go all in on bucket one

This is where most people mess up. They split their attention across everything and wonder why nothing moves. For the next six to twelve months, your bucket one skill gets 80% of your productive energy. Say you have two hours a day to work on building something. Give ninety minutes to your money maker. Take courses, build a portfolio, do real projects, talk to people in that field.

Once you’re making actual money from this skill, whether freelancing, a job, or something small, you buy yourself options. Time, freedom, breathing room to explore other things later.

Step 4: Schedule your soul stuff

Don’t abandon it, just don’t let it swallow your productive time either. Put it in your calendar like an appointment. Sunday morning journaling, Wednesday evening painting, Friday night reading. When you stop pressuring these activities to become something bigger, you actually start enjoying them more. You read because it feels good, not because you’re trying to become someone’s next productivity guru.

Step 5: Revisit and rotate

This isn’t a prison sentence. Once you’ve built real momentum with bucket one, once there’s money coming in and some stability, you can reassess. Maybe you shift focus. Maybe you pull something off the curiosity shelf. Maybe you combine two interests in a way you didn’t expect. The point is you’re building in sequence, not in chaos.

And here’s what actually changes when you do this. You stop feeling guilty all the time, because you are focused, just on one main thing while keeping space for everything else. You start getting genuinely good at something, because six months of real attention takes you from “interested in marketing” to “I can run ads that actually convert.” You build confidence. And then you create options.

I’ll be straight with you. If you keep chasing every interest equally, you could be 35 still figuring things out, still jumping around, still frustrated. The people who seem to do everything, multiple businesses, skills, hobbies, they didn’t start that way. They built one thing first. Got good at it. Made money from it. Then expanded.

So here’s what to do after this video…

Grab that paper. Make the three buckets. Be honest about what goes where. Pick your bucket one, not forever, just for the next six to twelve months. Block time for it in your week. Schedule your soul stuff. Let everything else rest on the shelf. Then stick to it. Not forever. Just this week. Then the next. Then the one after that. Your interests aren’t going anywhere. But your time and energy are limited. Use them like it matters.

Thanks for reading! Go for the run. Call a friend. Read the book. Cook something. Write something. Go outside and just be somewhere.

Because here’s the truth: you already know what you should be doing. The problem isn’t information. Most of us have consumed enough advice, podcasts, videos, and articles to know exactly what the healthier choice looks like. The problem is that the right thing rarely feels as good in the moment as the easy thing.

This isn’t about hacks, productivity systems, or another challenge you’ll abandon next week. It’s about the thing underneath all of it, the reason you keep finding yourself back in the same patterns even after promising you’ll change.

It starts with understanding what’s been hijacked inside you.

Why Everything Real Feels Harder Than It Should

Most people think dopamine is the pleasure chemical. It isn’t. Dopamine is the wanting chemical.

It spikes most before the reward, not after it. Your brain becomes excited by the possibility of getting something, not necessarily by having it. The chase creates the anticipation. The anticipation creates the craving.

That’s why you can spend hours scrolling and still feel strangely empty when you’re done. Your brain keeps expecting the next thing to satisfy it. The next video. The next post. The next notification. The next hit. But satisfaction never really arrives because the system was designed around anticipation, not fulfillment.

Over time, those fast, high-stimulation rewards turn up the volume in your brain. And when that happens, everything else starts to feel quiet.

A book feels boring. A walk feels pointless. Real work feels painfully difficult.

Not because you’ve become lazy, but because your brain has recalibrated what counts as stimulating. The ordinary things that once felt rewarding now struggle to compete with an endless stream of novelty.

Your baseline got broken.

Thanks for reading! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.

The Cost Nobody Talks About

And that comes at a cost.

Every time you promise yourself you’ll stop and don’t, you’re doing more than failing a habit. You’re reinforcing an identity. You’re collecting evidence about who you believe yourself to be.

At first, you feel like someone struggling with a bad habit. Eventually, if enough promises go unkept, you start feeling like someone who simply can’t change.

Then there’s that feeling that tends to show up late at night, the gap between who you are and who you could be.

You know the feeling. Another year passes. The goals stay untouched. The books remain unread. The projects remain unfinished. The gap gets a little wider.

Most people respond to that discomfort by picking up their phone.

Which is exactly what created the gap in the first place.

The Phone Isn’t The Addiction

So how do you fix it?

Not by trying harder.

You fix it by changing the conditions.

For the next few days, pay attention. Every time you reach for your phone, stop and ask yourself what you were feeling right before. Not what you were doing. What you were feeling.

You’ll probably discover that it’s rarely boredom.

More often it’s anxiety. Avoidance. Uncertainty. Discomfort. Silence you don’t want to sit with.

That’s an important realization because the phone isn’t actually the addiction. It’s the response. It’s the escape route your brain has learned to take whenever an uncomfortable feeling appears.

Once you know the trigger, you can stop feeding it.

For seven days, cut out mindless scrolling and passive consumption. Replace it with things that are slower but real: walks, conversations, books, meaningful work, or simply sitting with your own thoughts for a while.

Lower The Noise

The first few days won’t feel good.

You’ll feel restless. Irritated. Distracted. Your brain will keep looking for the stimulation it’s used to getting.

That’s not a sign that it’s not working.

It’s a sign that it is.

By day four or five, something starts to shift. Silence stops feeling threatening. Your attention becomes less scattered. The urge to constantly check for something new begins to weaken.

Your baseline comes down.

And when it comes down, everything else comes back up.

Books become engaging again. Conversations feel richer. Work becomes easier to focus on. Ordinary moments regain some of the depth they used to have before constant stimulation flattened them.

Stop Fighting A Battle You Were Never Meant To Win

Take your environment seriously.

Willpower was never meant to fight a device designed by thousands of engineers whose job is to keep your attention for as long as possible. If you rely on discipline alone, you’ll eventually lose.

So make the right choice easier.

Charge your phone in another room. Delete the apps that steal the most time. Turn off unnecessary notifications. Put good habits where you can see them.

Leave a book on your desk. Put your running shoes by the door. Make the better choice visible and the worse choice inconvenient.

Don’t depend on motivation.

Design your environment.

Protect Your Mornings

And protect your mornings.

The first hour of the day shapes the rest more than most people realize. When the first thing you do is consume, you’re teaching your brain to start every day reacting instead of creating.

Don’t start with a screen.

Go outside. Move your body. Write a few thoughts down. Sit with your coffee for ten minutes without needing something to entertain you.

Then ask yourself one question:

What’s the one thing that would make today feel worthwhile?

Do that first.

Save entertainment for later, not as punishment, but as strategy. When you spend the reward before you’ve earned it, there’s often nothing left to work toward.

The Real Shift Is Identity

But the thing that determines whether any of this lasts isn’t habits.

It’s identity.

People who create lasting change don’t necessarily become more disciplined than everyone else. They become a different kind of person.

Instead of saying, “I’m trying to use my phone less,” they become, “I’m someone who doesn’t need that escape anymore.”

That’s a huge difference.

Because once a behavior becomes part of your identity, it stops feeling like a daily negotiation. It becomes the default.

And when you slip, you don’t spiral. You simply return.

Every walk. Every focused work session. Every morning you don’t reach for your phone first. You’re collecting evidence.

Eventually, the evidence becomes impossible to ignore.

Maintaining the habit stops feeling like discipline.

It becomes who you are.

What Life Feels Like On The Other Side

And here’s what that life feels like.

You wake up and your mind feels clear. You drink your coffee without needing constant stimulation. You work with focus. You end the day with the kind of tiredness that comes from actually living it rather than endlessly consuming things that simulate living.

You sleep better.

You feel calmer.

You feel present.

That’s not a fantasy.

That’s what a regulated nervous system feels like.

You were born with one. Life just buried it under too much noise.

This process doesn’t build something new.

It uncovers what was already there.

Go Do Something Real

So start tonight.

Put your phone charger in another room.

Or write down one sentence about who you’re trying to become.

Tomorrow morning, when the urge hits to grab your phone, pause for three seconds. Look at the ceiling. Take one breath.

That tiny space between stimulus and response is where change begins.

You have more control than it feels like.

Now go do something real.

Thanks for reading! “one is better” way people keep trying to force. Different in ways that actually change how you work and what you can do with them.

Here’s what I found.

1. You can throw a pile of files at Claude, and it actually connects the dots

ChatGPT lets you upload files. Cool.

But with Claude, you can dump a bunch of files into one workflow: PDFs, spreadsheets, Word docs, code files, whatever.

And it doesn’t just scan them. It connects information across them.

Upload five competitor reports and three internal docs, and it can point out contradictions, overlaps, or patterns showing up everywhere.

I tried this last week with client research. Uploaded everything, asked it to find gaps in the data, and it did.

ChatGPT handles larger individual files, but when the job is analyzing a stack of documents together, Claude feels stronger.

2. The context window is massive

Claude supports up to 200,000 tokens in a conversation.

That’s huge.

ChatGPT sits around 128,000 tokens, which is already a lot. But when you’re working with massive documentation or trying to keep everything in one thread, that extra room matters.

I was reviewing an absurdly long technical manual recently.

Claude held the entire thing together. Didn’t lose context. Didn’t make me split it up.

If you work with giant documents regularly, this saves time.

3. It builds things you can actually use inside the chat

This is the Artifacts feature everyone talks about.

Ask Claude for a calculator, budget tracker, or interactive chart, and it doesn’t just hand you code.

It builds the thing.

Right there.

I asked for a mortgage calculator once. Seconds later, I was adjusting interest rates and down payments inside it. Needed changes? I told Claude, and it updated live.

You can share these too.

ChatGPT has Canvas, which overlaps a bit, but Claude’s implementation feels more immediate.

4. Projects that actually remember context

Claude Projects feels like a workspace with memory.

You create a project, upload docs, style guides, previous work, reference material, whatever matters.

Then every conversation inside that project already knows the context.

No restarting. No pasting the same background into every new chat.

I have one for client work and another for writing.

Each behaves differently because the context is already there.

ChatGPT has Projects too, but Claude’s version feels more like an ongoing workspace.

5. It shows more of the reasoning process

Turn on Extended Thinking and Claude works through problems step by step.

You see it break down problems, consider options, and explain decisions before giving an answer.

For math, coding, or technical work, this is useful because you can inspect the logic.

It’s slower.

But when understanding matters more than speed, it’s worth it.

6. The Slack integration is actually useful

Claude lives inside Slack.

You can DM it, mention it in threads, search discussions, summarize conversations, and pull action items without leaving your workspace.

If your team runs on Slack, this matters.

ChatGPT can integrate into workflows too, but Claude’s native Slack experience feels more direct.

7. The code quality is surprisingly solid

Both models write code.

But I’ve noticed Claude often gets working implementations right on the first attempt more consistently.

It tends to include error handling, think about edge cases, and structure things cleanly.

And because you can interact with outputs immediately, the feedback loop feels fast.

Write → test → fix → repeat.

ChatGPT is still excellent for coding. The workflow just feels different.

8. It can create usable design assets

Claude Design isn’t trying to compete with image generators.

It focuses more on prototypes, mockups, presentations, and structured design work.

Describe what you want, and it builds it.

Then you can export to formats like PDF, PowerPoint, HTML, or move it into other tools.

I needed a quick one-pager recently.

Claude built the first version, I tweaked it with prompts, exported it, and moved on.

Done.

9. It’s trained differently, and you can feel it

ChatGPT relies heavily on human feedback training.

Claude uses something called Constitutional AI, where outputs are evaluated against a written set of principles.

Most people won’t care about the technical difference.

But in practice, the behavior feels different.

Claude sometimes refuses requests more deliberately. Sometimes it feels less random.

The safety layer feels more consistent.

Whether you prefer that is personal.

10. It reads PDFs more like documents, not text dumps

When you upload PDFs, Claude doesn’t just pull text.

It also looks at charts, tables, diagrams, and structure.

I uploaded a financial report packed with charts.

Claude referenced visual data and explained trends from the graphs themselves.

That feels different from basic text extraction.

Look.

Neither one is “better.”

They’re tools.

Different tools solve different problems.

If you process huge documents, build interactive tools quickly, work heavily in Slack, or care about long-context workflows, Claude has some very real advantages.

ChatGPT has strengths too: image generation, web access, broader ecosystem integrations, and a lot more flexibility in certain workflows.

Most people could use either.

A lot of people end up using both.

That honestly makes sense.

The goal isn’t picking a winner.

It’s understanding what each one is good at.

Try them yourself.

Upload a giant file.

Build something.

Push them a little.

You’ll figure out pretty quickly which one fits the way you work.

Thanks for reading! You can spend five grand on a bootcamp, or you can spend nothing and watch some genuinely brilliant teachers explain the exact same concepts on YouTube. I’ve been down both roads, and I’m telling you: the free route often works better.

But here’s the catch. YouTube is packed with AI content that either treats you like an idiot or assumes you already have a PhD in mathematics. Finding the middle ground takes work. After spending way too many hours watching tutorials and seeing what people actually recommend this year, I put together this list of seven channels that will teach you real skills.

1. 3Blue1Brown

Grant Sanderson makes math visual. That sounds simple, but most people teaching AI either skip the math or drown you in equations. Grant does neither. He uses animations to show what’s happening inside the formulas.

His neural network series breaks down gradient descent and backpropagation in ways that make actual sense. Over 8 million people subscribe to this channel, and the neural network videos have millions of views because they work. The videos run 15 to 20 minutes each, which feels long until you realize you just understood something you’ve been confused about for weeks.

If you learn by seeing things move instead of reading static formulas, start here.

2. Two Minute Papers

Károly Zsolnai-Fehér takes academic AI papers and makes them watchable. Each video runs 5 to 10 minutes and covers one recent breakthrough or research finding. You won’t learn to code from this channel, but you’ll understand what new models can do and why certain techniques matter.

The channel has around 1.8 million subscribers. The host genuinely loves this stuff, which makes even dry topics feel interesting. If you want to know where AI is heading without reading dense academic papers, this channel keeps you current.

3. DeepLearning.AI

Andrew Ng founded this channel, and you can tell. The content is organized, thorough, and built for people who want actual skills, not just interesting videos. Topics include machine learning operations, deep learning fundamentals, and generative AI.

The videos are lecture-style, and many connect to full courses you can take. It’s more formal than other channels, but that formality comes with depth. If you prefer structured learning over random tutorials, this works.

4. Code Basics

Dhaval Patel focuses on building actual projects from start to finish. You’ll watch him debug problems, make mistakes, and work through solutions the same way you would when coding alone.

The channel covers machine learning fundamentals, Python basics, and data science projects. His teaching style is patient and detailed, which helps when you’re trying to code along. If you learn best by building things with someone experienced, this channel delivers.

5. Krish Naik

Krish Naik has one of the most complete tutorial collections on YouTube, with over 1.3 million subscribers. He covers natural language processing, machine learning algorithms, data visualization, and deep learning. His videos tend to be long and detailed, which means full explanations instead of surface overviews.

The channel works well for people who want systematic coverage of topics. He creates series that go through entire subject areas from beginning to end. He doesn’t skip steps, which helps when you’re working through complex material.

6. StatQuest

Josh Starmer makes statistics fun. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. He uses drawings, simple language, and humor to explain statistical concepts that sit underneath machine learning. If you want to understand what’s happening under the hood of AI models, you need statistics. This channel makes learning them less painful.

Around 1.6 million people subscribe. The videos are short, usually under 20 minutes, and each tackles a single concept. Topics include probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and machine learning algorithms explained through their statistical foundations.

7. Sentdex

Harrison Kinsley created this channel for people who learn by coding. The focus is Python and practical implementation of AI concepts. He builds things on camera and shows exactly how the code works.

The channel has extensive tutorial series on neural networks, natural language processing, and reinforcement learning. The style is straightforward and code-heavy. You’ll watch him type and debug, which actually helps when you’re doing the same thing yourself later.

Picking What Works for You

These channels approach AI education differently. Some focus on mathematical understanding, others on coding practice, some on staying current with research. Pick 2 or 3 channels that match how you learn and what you’re trying to do.

If you’re starting from zero, try 3Blue1Brown for concepts and Code Basics for hands-on practice. If you already know Python and want deeper knowledge, combine Krish Naik for comprehensive tutorials and Sentdex for implementation practice. Add Two Minute Papers to stay current with research.

What Videos Won’t Do Alone

YouTube channels are great for learning concepts and getting exposure to AI. But you won’t build deep expertise just by watching. You need to write code, break things, fix them, and build projects. Think of these channels as guides, not replacements for practice.

Also, no single channel covers everything. AI is too broad. You’ll need multiple sources, combined with actual coding practice, reading documentation, and working through problems on your own.

The good part? All of this is free and accessible right now. Pick a channel, start watching, and try implementing what they teach. That’s where the real learning happens.

Thanks for reading! So when you try to change your life, it pushes back with fatigue, doubt, and “I’ll start tomorrow.”

Most people think they fail because life is difficult. In many cases, they fail because comfort wins the argument in their head.

Once you see the pattern, you can train your brain instead of arguing with it.

Step 1: Why effort feels heavy

Your brain prefers quick rewards.

Scrolling gives instant stimulation.

Food gives instant pleasure.

Entertainment gives instant escape.

Training, studying, and building skills take time before the reward appears. Because of that delay, your brain keeps suggesting the same response: later.

This reaction is not weakness. It is your brain trying to avoid effort and uncertainty.

Step 2: Redefine discomfort

Right before action, you usually feel resistance.

Most people wait for motivation to appear first. That delay keeps them stuck.

Treat discomfort as a signal that you are at the edge of progress. When the thought “I don’t feel like it” shows up, begin anyway.

That moment often marks the start of real progress.

Step 3: The 3‑second start rule

The main obstacle is hesitation.

The longer you think, the more excuses appear. Use a simple rule: when you notice resistance, count 3…2…1 and move.

Stand up.
Open the book.
Put on your shoes.

Action cuts through overthinking. Getting started is usually the hardest moment.

Step 4: Do one difficult thing each day

You do not need a huge routine. You need repetition.

Choose one task each day that requires effort:

• a short workout
• 20 minutes of focused work
• finishing the task you keep delaying
• ending your shower with cold water

Small enough that you won’t skip it. Hard enough that it requires effort.

Each time you complete it, you send your brain a clear message: you act even when you don’t feel like it.

That is how discipline forms.

Step 5: Change your identity

People act in ways that match how they see themselves.

If you believe you are inconsistent, your actions will follow that story.

But every time you act despite resistance, the story shifts. Most people fear awkward silence in conversation, that’s why they try to engage the other person with meaningless chitchat. A confident person isn’t afraid of that silence. with you is the result of the actions you take during this time.

If you spend this phase watching mindless videos all day, eating junk food, avoiding exercise, and chasing cheap pleasures, you may get temporary pleasure.

But as time passes, you will forget 90% of those experiences and emotions, and what will remain is an unhealthy body and a weakened, cluttered mind.

On the other hand, if you spend this time increasing your self-knowledge, working toward your goals, and building good habits, you will definitely feel some discomfort initially.

But with time, you will forget those painful emotions.

What will remain is a healthy body, a strong career, and a refined, disciplined mind.

When you deeply realize that emotions are temporary, you can detach from them and make the decisions that are truly best for you.

4 Realisations That Can Change Your A person lives their entire life from their own point of view, and because of this, they start believing that other people think about them as much as they think about themselves. The reality is that the world does not revolve around you. Even if people think about you, it is only for a few moments. After that, they move on with their own lives.

2. Always live your life with this realisation: whatever emotions and experiences you are feeling right now are temporary. With time, you will forget most of them. What remains with you is the result of the actions you took during that phase of your life.

3. Most of the problems in our life are created by us. We are given the freedom of choice, yet even then, unknowingly, we choose a cage for ourselves. Your insecurities are self-chosen because you have accepted the belief that you should feel insecure about certain things.

Other people’s harsh words may hurt you, but the reality is that the choice is still yours, whether you give value to their words or not.

4. We keep repeating the same things in life. For example, a socially awkward person keeps running away from social situations, yet hopes that someday in the future, they will automatically start talking to people confidently. The reality is that if you want to become someone you have not been until today, you must be ready to do things you have never done before.

Complete guide

Why You're Always Tired Even Though You're Not Really Doing Anything

You’re not lazy, your energy is being drained in ways you don’t notice. But by noon, you’re scrolling mindlessly, feeling foggy, and wondering why you can’t seem to get anything done. The guilt kicks in. You tell yourself you’ll do better tomorrow. But tomorrow feels exactly the same.

Here’s the truth: it’s not about willpower. It’s about four specific things you’re doing (or not doing) that are draining your energy before you even start.

Fix these, and you’ll feel like a different person in a week.

1. You consume too much content

You consume too much, such as videos, social media, and web series. Because of this, your dopamine levels spike and your brain becomes overstimulated. This is that feeling when you’ve been watching something continuously for a long time, and you start feeling a slight headache and tiredness. At the back of your mind, there is pressure about work, but you just don’t feel like doing anything.

The solution is simple: until all the important tasks of your day are completed, do not consume any content. Reserve a few hours at night when you can consume whatever you want, completely guilt-free.

2. Your diet is unhealthy

You may be eating too many sugary, processed, or fried foods, which causes spikes in your blood sugar and insulin levels, making you feel tired. Or you might have a nutritional deficiency, such as vitamin B12 or other B vitamins, magnesium, omega-3, vitamin D, iron, or potassium, which can make you feel lethargic.

Subscribe now

3. You wake up in the morning without knowing what you need to do that day

As a result, there is a high chance that you will waste the entire day doing nothing. This happens because you leave the decision-making to your mind, expecting it to decide on its own what to do and when. And your mind’s decisions are usually not very good.

4. Not doing any kind of physical activity or exercise during the day

Because of this, blood and oxygen do not circulate properly in your body, which is why most people feel tired.

Thanks for reading! I’m sharing 4 practical tricks, watch till the end to apply them properly.

1. Master Eye Contact

If you feel scared maintaining eye contact while talking to people, then while walking on the road, practice making gentle eye contact with random people coming from the opposite side, and hold it until they break eye contact first. In the beginning, this will feel strange to you, but with time, your skill of maintaining eye contact with people will keep improving.

2. Get Comfortable with Being Embarrassed

Do things that feel embarrassing to you. Do the simplest things, like filming yourself in public, or wearing clothes that make you feel a little shy while wearing them. We are very afraid of getting embarrassed, so gradually expose yourself to embarrassment little by little over time. Doing this builds an internal immunity to dealing with the pressure of embarrassment.

3. See Everyone as Your Equal

Start seeing people at the same level as yourself. If you think of people as above you, you will start taking pressure to impress them. And if you look at people as below you, you will become rude and arrogant. So whenever you talk to someone, always keep in mind that there isn’t that much difference between you and the other person. Ultimately, both of you are human.

4. Take a moment. And watch the video linked above.

Not because this article won’t make sense without it, but because it will make more sense after. The video captures the emotion behind these thoughts in a way words struggle to do.

This piece is simply me sitting down afterward and explaining everything more clearly, more honestly.

So if you’re skimming right now, stop.

Go watch the video.

Then come back here. I promise, it’s worth the order.

I didn’t make these mistakes dramatically.

There was no big failure.

No public embarrassment.

No rock bottom moment.

They crept in quietly while I thought I was “working on myself.”

That’s what makes them dangerous.

These are the kinds of mistakes that don’t ruin your life, they just slow it down so much that one day you look back and wonder where the time went.

(If you haven’t watched the video yet, this is another gentle nudge - watch it first, then continue.)

1. Thinking too much about the end result

For a long time, my head lived in the future.

I kept thinking about the college I wanted.

The job I imagined myself doing.

The version of my body I hoped to have one day.

I consumed content that reinforced those visions - transformation videos, success stories, “before and after” journeys. I told myself it was inspiration.

But slowly, I realized something uncomfortable.

I was spending more time imagining a better life than actually building one.

When you constantly focus on the end goal, your mind starts confusing imagination with progress. You feel good just thinking about success, and that feeling quietly replaces the urgency to work today.

What finally helped was this shift:

Once you decide where you want to go, stop mentally living there.

Instead, bring your attention back to the daily process… the few tasks you need to complete today. Not because you feel motivated. Not because you’re chasing a result. But because you’ve learned to respect the process itself.

Over time, the work becomes familiar. Almost enjoyable. And strangely, you stop obsessing over the destination, until one day you realize you’re much closer than you expected.

I explain this idea more visually and personally in the video.

If you haven’t watched it yet, now is a good time to do that.

2. Believing small decisions don’t really matter

“I’ll skip today.”

“It’s just one day.”

“Nothing will change if I do this once.”

I’ve said all of these to myself.

And technically, they’re not wrong. One day doesn’t ruin anything.

But here’s what I didn’t understand back then: decisions don’t just shape outcomes, they shape patterns.

When you choose to avoid effort once, you make it easier to do it again. Slowly, almost invisibly, you train yourself to default to comfort.

You’re not just skipping the gym.

You’re reinforcing the habit of skipping.

The danger isn’t the missed action.

It’s the identity you’re feeding.

Discipline isn’t about being extreme.

It’s about protecting consistency in moments that feel insignificant.

If this part feels a little uncomfortable, that’s a good sign.

3. Waiting for the “right” resources before starting

This one delayed me more than I like to admit.

I told myself I needed:

Better tools, more money, more clarity, more time.

So I waited.

What I eventually learned is simple but painful:

Resources don’t create commitment. Commitment attracts resources.

When you’re starting something new, your responsibility is not to optimize. It’s to use what you already have as well as you possibly can.

Only when your current resources genuinely limit you and only after you’ve proven consistency to yourself, does upgrading make sense.

Most people never reach that point because they keep waiting to feel ready.

I share a personal example of this in the video.

Conclusion

Most people don’t fail because they lack talent, intelligence, or ambition.

They fail because they:

Live in imagined futures instead of daily processes

Treat small decisions lightly

Wait for perfect conditions

If you take one thing from this, let it be this:

Awareness means nothing without action.

So after you finish this, I’d suggest two things:

Watch the video again, slowly

Ask yourself honestly: Which one of these mistakes am I still making, even now?

That answer matters more than any motivation ever will.

Share Curiosen Snippets

Unlock These 5 Major Advantages With Your Student I'd

If you’re a student, you are probably missing these 5 major advantages.

Curiosen

I used to think being a student only meant assignments, exams, and waiting for “real life” to begin.

But over time, I realized something simple.

If you have a student ID, a lot of doors are already open for you.

Most people just don’t know where to look.

Here are 5 platforms every student should at least know about.

All Platform Links

1. He didn’t work harder. He didn’t chase more certifications. Yet his income doubled in six months.

What changed wasn’t effort or intelligence. It was how he learned.

He stopped learning like a student and started learning like an interrogator.

Interrogators don’t collect information. They collapse uncertainty.

CIA interrogators aren’t rewarded for knowing everything. They are rewarded for identifying what matters fast. Their job is leverage, not knowledge accumulation.

They use a principle called Compression Learning:

Learn the 10% of a skill that controls the other 90%.

Most people expand knowledge across the whole field. Interrogators compress it down to leverage nodes. That difference separates being informed from being indispensable.

This wasn’t theoretical. The engineer applied the same interrogation logic to his work and doubled his income in six months.

He explained it simply:

“Interrogators don’t gather information. They collapse uncertainty.”

Compression Learning forces the brain to ignore the entire field and focus only on the control points. Engineers who study everything stay average. Operatives who identify leverage become irreplaceable.

The method begins with a question CIA trainees drill nightly:

“What would I need to know to break this system?”

The moment you frame a skill as something to penetrate rather than admire, your brain stops memorizing and starts map-building. He applied this question directly to his field.

What breaks this codebase fastest?

What breaks this supply chain?

What breaks this model?

That single shift exposed the real skill clusters, the ones that actually mattered.

Next came the second interrogation rule:

Never ask what. Ask where.

Average learners ask, What should I study?

Interrogators ask, Where does the system fail?

Every project bottlenecks. He found that each one consistently failed in three areas nobody wanted to touch. He mastered those three.

Suddenly, every team needed him. His income doubled, not from talent, but from scarcity power.

The brutal part of interrogation learning is emotional detachment. You stop caring about what is interesting and focus only on what is controlling. He dropped frameworks, theories, and side topics. All that mattered were bottlenecks, failure points, escalation paths, and decision levers. Everything else was noise.

You can apply the civilian version today.

Pick any skill and ask:

“If I had to break this system in 24 hours, what would I study first?”

Write down the three failure points. Master those.

Your learning curve will bend the same way his income did. This method does not make you smarter. It makes you strategically unavoidable.

Subscribe. It only gets more interesting from here.
<p class="button-wrapper" data-attrs="{"url":"https://curiosensnippets.substack.com/subscribe?","text":"Subscribe He called it “the universal equation of results.” According to Tracy, this formula can move any task forward in just thirty minutes of pure effort. It was later removed from official curriculum because it was considered too direct, too effective, and too difficult to institutionalize.

1. The idea comes down to four variables:

R = (W × C) ÷ T

R means result. W means clarity of goal, or how precisely you understand what you want.

C means concentration. T means time lost to distractions.

The fewer interruptions you have, the faster your brain produces a solution. This is not magic. It is cognitive physics.

2. Tracy believed that any challenge can be solved or advanced with thirty minutes of undivided attention. No phone. No conversation. No multitasking.

He famously said: “Half an hour of pure concentration replaces eight hours of pseudo-activity.”

3. One experiment tested this in 12 companies. Workers used the “30-minute tunnel” approach. Productivity jumped by 300 percent. And then something unexpected happened. Meetings were suddenly ignored. People began solving problems independently. The experiment was quietly shut down.

4. The method faded from business literature, yet neuroscientists affirm that the brain follows the principle of cognitive resonance. Fewer context switches means deeper immersion. After about fifteen minutes, focus increases rapidly.

5. Tracy later described the brain like a spotlight. It cannot illuminate everything at once. Direct it at a single point for thirty uninterrupted minutes and the solution becomes visible. Many elite entrepreneurs quietly use this principle.

6. If you ever feel stuck, you do not need motivation. You need thirty minutes of attention placed on one single thought. No scrolling. No wandering. No interruptions. After half an hour, the world becomes solvable again.

One Sentence That Reframes Success

How a simple idea shifted my focus from achievement to personal growth.

Curiosen

“Success is not achieving more, but becoming more”

I heard this sentence from somewhere... and i actually stumbled into it during a moment of frustration when I was reviewing my own life and progress.

I’ve had to be my own advisor, my own critic, my own encourager. I’m sure you’ve had to do that too.

I don’t have a mentor in the traditional sense. I’ve had to play that role for myself, and maybe you have too.

I’ve had to figure things out by watching my own patterns, learning from my own mistakes, catching myself when I lie to myself, and pushing myself when no one else would.

And I started realizing that the achievements I thought would finally make me feel “satisfied” never actually delivered the feeling I expected.

You hit a goal, and the satisfaction evaporates faster than you’d think.

You tick off a milestone, and instead of peace, you now have a bigger target.

It wasn’t until I shifted the focus to becoming more that things changed. And why I keep coming back to it, not as a slogan, but as a compass.

“Success is not achieving more, but becoming more.”

So now I try to live with a different daily check-in. Not “Did I win today?” but “Did I grow today?” Not “Did I gain something?” but “Did I change something about myself?”

It’s grounded. It’s sustainable. And it’s real.

And if you’ve spent your life being your own mentor, I think you’ll feel the depth of this idea more honestly than most.

You’re not just building a life. You’re building a self.
