A question that made me laugh at first. A fish in water, a bird in the sky. How could they ever be together?. The more I thought about it the less silly it felt. It wasn’t really about a fish or a bird all. It was about people. It was about love that doesn’t fit.

I imagined them trying anyway. The bird building a nest on a tree by the water. The fish staying near the surface just to see the bird every day. They could see each other. They could talk. They could share the space even if it was small. One could live in the sky. The other in the water.. The world between them was still wide.

Then the rain came. The river rose. The water covered the tree. The bird had to fly. The fish was left behind. The drought came. The water moved. The nest was too high. The bird couldn’t reach. The fish could not follow.

Each time they had to choose. One had to give. One had to stay. One had to let go.

And that’s when I realized—this question isn’t about animals. It’s about people.

We hear all the time: if you truly love someone you’ll find a way. We believe it. We want to believe it.. What happens when the way isn’t possible? When one can’t. The other can’t swim? When love means changing everything—your identity, your life, your family, your future?

Would you give up your culture? Your traditions? The life you grew up with? Would you leave your home your people, your story just to be with someone?

What if the other person won’t do the same? What if they say, "I love you. I can’t leave my family”? "I love you. I can’t give up my beliefs”? "I love you. I can’t change my life”?

Is that love?. Is it just a different kind of love?

Maybe the bird stays. Maybe it doesn’t fly away when the flock leaves. Maybe it chooses love over instinct. Maybe the fish stays near the surface not diving not exploring the ocean just staying where it can see the bird.

They could make it work. For a while.. How long? Would one of them start to feel trapped? Would resentment grow? Would one feel like a sacrifice and the other like a savior?

What if they both sacrifice? What if the bird gives up its freedom and the fish gives up its depth? What if they both change everything only to find that love isn’t enough?

Maybe love is enough. Maybe they find a place—the edge of the water the shore, a place where the sky meets the waves. A place where the bird can fly and the fish can swim. A place where they don’t have to choose. Where they don’t have to give up.

Then one day the bird will fly away. The fish will stay.. Maybe that’s okay. Maybe neither of them was wrong.

Maybe love doesn’t always mean staying. Maybe love means knowing when to let go.

So if a fish and a bird fell in love where would they live?

Maybe they don’t live together. Maybe they live in worlds but they meet at the edge.

Maybe they don’t meet at all.

Maybe that’s the truth.

Love doesn’t always survive. It doesn’t always fit. It doesn’t always win.

That’s the sad part.

Because the question isn’t, about fish or birds.

It’s about us.

The truth is, we might never find the right answer.

That might be the only answer thats true.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank"
