Something unusual is happening in the United States, and it cannot be understood simply by following the political news from one day to the next. The individual events matter, but taken separately they can obscure the larger process beneath them. Questions about presidential authority and the courts appear alongside conflicts over immigration, citizenship, elections, race, education, and national identity. From an astrological perspective, these may not be separate developments at all. They may be different expressions of the same historical passage.

In Nine Gates of Reckoning, I describe a sequence of nine exact squares from transiting Eris to Pluto in the foundational horoscope I use for the United States. That chart is cast for July 6, 1775, when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms against Great Britain.

The first exact square occurred on June 1, 2026. The second arrives on September 11, a date that already carries enormous historical meaning for the United States, and the sequence continues through February 2030. We are not looking at a single transit that arrives and disappears. We are looking at a prolonged evolutionary passage.

Many of the issues I described in Nine Gates are no longer theoretical possibilities. They are appearing around us through political conflict, cultural division, institutional strain, and disagreement over what America is and what it should become. Yet an evolutionary crisis does more than expose what is failing. It also asks what may emerge once the old assumptions can no longer hold.

That is where the image of moving toward the light becomes important. The light does not represent optimism for its own sake. It represents greater consciousness, the willingness to see what has been hidden or denied, and the possibility of responding differently once we do.

The Foundations of the Nation

In the horoscope I use, Pluto is at 25 degrees Capricorn in the fourth house. The fourth house takes us beneath the visible institutions of the country and into its foundations. It describes the land, inherited history, collective memory, and the psychological roots from which national identity develops.

Capricorn concerns authority and established structures. Pluto in Capricorn therefore points toward the deeper systems through which power has been organized and preserved over time. Presidents come and go. Congressional majorities change, and political movements rise and fall, but the structures beneath them often endure much longer.

Eris introduces a different evolutionary necessity. She draws attention toward what has been excluded from the prevailing order and what can no longer remain outside collective awareness. When Eris squares Pluto, established structures are confronted by the consequences of what they have failed to include or resolve.

For the United States, this returns us to a contradiction present from the beginning. The country proclaimed universal principles while applying them selectively.

The Declaration of Independence announced that all men are created equal while slavery remained embedded in American life. Native peoples were displaced from lands they had inhabited for generations. Women lived for much of the nation’s history without full political participation, while immigration repeatedly produced conflict over who could enter the country and be accepted as fully American.

Changing the law did not always resolve the deeper questions beneath these struggles. Questions of belonging remained within the national psyche and returned in different forms as the country changed.

Who belongs to America, who is entitled to its promises, and who has the authority to decide have never been entirely settled. These questions remain part of the unfinished American story.

Power and Legitimacy

Pluto inevitably brings us to power, but power is not confined to the White House or Congress. It operates through courts, government agencies, corporations, financial institutions, universities, media organizations, technology companies, and state governments.

Much of the present conflict concerns the authority of these institutions and whether Americans still trust them. Presidential power is being debated alongside judicial authority. Federal and state governments increasingly challenge one another, while elections themselves have become another source of disagreement.

A democracy requires more than constitutional language. It also requires enough collective trust for people to accept the legitimacy of the institutions through which disagreement is resolved. When that trust weakens, the written structure may remain intact even as its psychological foundation becomes less secure.

The deeper question is not simply who holds power at a particular moment. It is whether the structures through which power operates remain capable of serving a country that has changed enormously since those structures were created.

Pluto asks us to see where power has accumulated, where it has become detached from accountability, and where inherited systems may no longer meet present conditions. The answer does not have to be destruction. Transformation may mean reform, greater accountability, or a renewed understanding of why an institution exists in the first place.

The Story America Tells About Itself

The cultural conflicts surrounding history, race, education, religion, gender, sexuality, universities, and the media are also part of this passage because nations do not live by institutions alone. They live by stories.

Every country develops a narrative explaining where it came from and what it believes itself to represent. That story identifies heroes, celebrates accomplishments, and gives continuity between generations. It is also inevitably selective.

Some experiences become central while others remain at the edges. Triumphs are remembered more easily than their costs. Historical figures become symbols, and symbols become simpler than the human beings they represent. Eventually the story becomes so familiar that we forget it was constructed at all.

Eris disturbs that familiarity. She brings omitted material back into awareness and makes it harder to preserve a national identity that depends upon leaving too much outside the story.

A mature understanding of America must be able to hold achievement and contradiction at the same time. The United States created one of history’s most ambitious experiments in constitutional self-government while tolerating slavery. It proclaimed liberty while repeatedly restricting who could exercise it. It expanded political participation across generations, often after fierce resistance to those very expansions.

Neither the achievement nor the contradiction cancels the other. Both belong to the inheritance, and moving toward the light begins with the willingness to see both.

A Crisis in Action

The Eris-Pluto square is a first-quarter square. Dane Rudhyar described this phase of a cycle as a crisis in action, an idea that is particularly useful for understanding the present moment.

A crisis in action occurs when something that has been developing can no longer remain theoretical. Circumstances require movement. The existing form has become inadequate, while whatever will eventually replace or transform it has not yet fully emerged.

That space is rarely comfortable. Some people seek stability by returning to an earlier social order, while others believe the country must move toward forms that do not yet exist. Both responses arise from the same underlying recognition that something fundamental is changing.

The danger is that uncertainty can produce rigidity rather than growth. Political disagreement becomes tribal identity. Opponents become enemies, compromise begins to look like surrender, and the struggle over policy becomes a struggle over who has the right to claim the country.

Yet crisis can also make previously unquestioned assumptions available for examination. The square does not determine which response will prevail. It creates pressure, while what we do with that pressure remains a matter of choice.

The light in this context is greater awareness. What was hidden becomes visible, and what was denied becomes harder to avoid. The light does not erase the darkness. It allows us to see what is there and decide what we are willing to do about it.

The Uranus Return

The Nine Gates are unfolding within another remarkable American cycle. Uranus has returned to Gemini, the sign it occupied during the American Revolution, bringing the United States into its Uranus return approximately 250 years after its founding era.

A nation born through rebellion against established authority is once again encountering the revolutionary principle. This does not mean history must repeat itself literally. Uranus disrupts established patterns so that new possibilities can emerge.

Ideas move more quickly. Alliances change, and institutions discover that authority once taken for granted is no longer automatically accepted. Technology is accelerating this process. Artificial intelligence is challenging assumptions about knowledge, creativity, work, and human capability.

The transformation of information may be equally important. Traditional media no longer controls its flow as it once did, while political ideas can move from the margins into national discussion almost instantly. Americans increasingly inhabit different informational worlds, making it difficult to maintain even a rough agreement about what is happening.

This fragmentation carries obvious dangers, but Uranus also represents invention. New methods of communication, participation, organization, and problem-solving can emerge when older systems become inadequate.

Combined with the Eris-Pluto square, the Uranus return suggests that preserving the existing order exactly as it has been may become increasingly difficult. Pluto examines concentrated power. Eris exposes what has been excluded, while Uranus opens the possibility that another way may become imaginable.

The American Experiment at 250

The 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence offers another opportunity to reconsider the national story.

The United States did not suddenly appear on July 4, 1776. By then, the colonies had already been engaged in armed rebellion for more than a year. A Continental Army existed under George Washington, and the Continental Congress was already exercising many of the functions of government.

This is why I use July 6, 1775, rather than July 4, 1776, as the foundational date in Nine Gates of Reckoning. On that day, Congress adopted the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. The colonies had crossed an important threshold from resistance into organized collective action.

Over time, July 4 became the symbolic birthday of the nation. There is nothing inherently wrong with that because symbols give history meaning. The difficulty begins when the symbol replaces the more complicated reality from which it arose.

The same principle applies to the familiar description of America as an experiment. An experiment is not a finished product. It begins with an idea whose outcome is uncertain. Some parts succeed, others fail, and assumptions must be tested against experience.

The American experiment began with extraordinary questions. Could people govern themselves without hereditary monarchy? Could political authority arise from the governed? Could a representative system survive the competing interests of the people participating in it?

Those questions were never answered once and for all because the country continued to change. Its population expanded. Its power grew, technology transformed daily life, and citizenship widened to include people whom the original political order had excluded.

The experiment changed because the people participating in it changed.

Calling America an experiment means accepting that its institutions are human creations rather than sacred objects existing outside history. Their durability deserves respect, but durability does not remove the need for examination.

An experiment also requires the possibility that an assumption may prove wrong. That becomes more difficult when political beliefs are treated as identities and changing one’s mind appears to be weakness or betrayal. Yet self-government cannot remain healthy if every generation is required to defend inherited assumptions regardless of what experience has revealed.

The question after 250 years is not whether the American experiment has simply succeeded or failed. Its history is too complicated for either conclusion. A more useful question is whether the experiment is still capable of learning.

Toward the Light

We are still near the beginning of the Nine Gates. Gate One occurred on June 1. Gate Two arrives on September 11, and seven additional exact squares follow before the sequence completes in February 2030.

I do not expect each Gate to correspond neatly to a single political event because astrology rarely unfolds that simply. Each Gate marks another stage in a larger process whose meaning may develop before and after the exact date.

America is confronting old questions about power and belonging while reconsidering the relationship between authority and freedom. Inherited understandings of history and identity are being challenged at the same time that the structures built upon them are under pressure.

Eris does not create these contradictions. She makes them harder to ignore. Pluto does not merely destroy existing structures. It reveals where power has become entrenched and where existing forms may have reached the limits of their usefulness. Uranus introduces the possibility that another way of organizing ourselves may become imaginable.

None of this guarantees a better future because evolution is not automatic progress. Crisis can produce fear, authoritarianism, division, and regression just as easily as it can produce greater consciousness. The horoscope describes the nature of the passage, but it does not choose our response.

Moving toward the light therefore does not mean escaping the darker parts of American history or replacing them with a more comforting story. It means seeing the inheritance clearly enough that we are no longer required to repeat it unconsciously. The light is not innocence restored. It is consciousness gained.

Liberty, equality, justice, and democracy are not possessions permanently secured by earlier generations. They are practices that must be renewed as circumstances change. A nation can remain attached to an idealized version of what it believes itself to have been, or it can ask what it is still capable of becoming.

The American experiment remains unfinished, and that may be one of its greatest possibilities. We cannot return to an America that never entirely existed, and we do not yet know what will emerge from the present passage. Between those two realities lies the work of this moment: recognizing what must be confronted, preserving what remains worthy, repairing what can still be repaired, and creating what the future will require.

The Nine Gates do not tell us how the American story ends. They ask whether we are willing to see clearly enough to help shape what comes next. Moving toward the light is not a promise that we will arrive there, but it is a direction we can choose

We are in the space between the solar eclipse of August 12 and the lunar eclipse of August 27–28. The solar eclipse has already disturbed an old pattern of identity, but the evolutionary purpose of that disruption may not yet be clear. Something familiar is losing its authority. What is emerging may still be difficult to name.

The time between eclipses carries us from disruption toward recognition. Evolution does not always begin with a clear direction. It often begins when an old way of being can no longer support the person we are becoming. A familiar form of self-expression may feel empty. The roles that once brought recognition may no longer reflect the deeper movement of the soul.

Do not force an answer. Notice which patterns are repeating and where life is asking for a different response. The past may still feel secure, even when it has become restrictive. The future can feel uncertain because it requires capacities we have not fully developed.

As the Moon approaches fullness, the consequences of earlier choices become more visible. What the solar eclipse set in motion now asks to be felt and understood. The lunar eclipse brings this evolutionary process into the Pisces–Virgo axis. It asks what must be released, what needs to be healed, and what new form of participation is trying to emerge.

The lunar eclipse of August 27, 2026, occurs with the Moon at 4° Pisces and the Sun at 4° Virgo. Mercury at 5° Virgo stands beside the Sun. Although the lunar nodes occupy the final degrees of the preceding signs, they remain closely bound to the eclipse. The Moon conjoins the North Node at 29° Aquarius. The Sun conjoins the South Node at 29° Leo.

The 29th degree is known as the anaretic point. Because the lunar nodes move backward through the zodiac, 29° functions as their point of entry into a sign much as 0° does for planets in direct motion. Here, the North Node has entered Aquarius from Pisces while remaining conjoined with the Moon across the sign boundary. The eclipse therefore carries the full concentrated intensity of the Piscean archetype it has just crossed. Pisces is the boundless space of “All That Is.” It is the final frontier where mind and matter meet, familiar distinctions dissolve, and consciousness encounters what cannot be contained by form alone.

This eclipse reaches across two thresholds at once. The luminaries occupy the early degrees of Pisces and Virgo while the nodes complete their passage through Aquarius and Leo. Something is ending, but its consequences have already entered the next room. We may feel suspended between a familiar identity and a future that has not yet taken recognizable form.

An eclipse exposes what ordinary light allows us to overlook. This one illuminates the relationship between discernment and acceptance. Virgo seeks what is accurate and useful. Pisces feels what cannot be measured so easily. Virgo separates one thing from another so that each can be understood. Pisces senses the hidden continuity beneath those distinctions. Neither is sufficient alone.

Without compassion (Pisces), discrimination becomes condemnation. Without discernment (Virgo), compassion becomes confusion or surrender. The work of this eclipse is to restore a living relationship between them.

Mercury at 5° Virgo gives language unusual importance. Thoughts are already carrying substance and methodology. Words can carry more weight than the speaker intends. What has remained implied may now be stated without restraint. A diagnosis could be made. A verdict may be delivered. Someone may finally name the flaw in a system or the weakness in an agreement. Hard truths emerge with weight and intensity.

Harshness does not make something more truthful. Finding fault does not make us wiser or give us the right to judge others. This eclipse asks whether our words reveal the truth or punish what disappoints us.

The full vocal range of human discrimination becomes audible. Criticality can be constructive or corrosive. It may reveal what needs to be improved. It can also become a continuous moan against life because life refuses to become perfect. We may hear the thoughtful voice of discernment alongside the harsher voices of complaint and blame. Each voice tells us something about the speaker’s relationship with inadequacy.

At its best, discrimination helps us recognize what belongs and what does not. It reveals what works. It protects standards that carry genuine meaning. At its worst, discrimination divides the world into acceptable and unacceptable people. Difference is treated as deficiency. Imperfection becomes a source of shame.

Perfectionism may become especially vocal. The inner critic could insist that safety depends upon getting everything right. Old accusations concerning worth or usefulness may return. Some people will feel the need to perfect themselves before allowing themselves to be seen. Others may direct their unease outward by correcting everyone around them. The eclipse reveals the wound beneath that behavior. The demand for perfection often conceals a fear of rejection. Criticism may be the voice of someone who does not feel safe.

The Pisces Moon feels the emotional cost of relentless evaluation. It longs for refuge from the sharp edges of judgment. This desire may appear as sleep or withdrawal. It might lead us into spiritual practice or creative absorption. We may simply want to disappear from a situation that has become too severe.

Seeking refuge is not necessarily avoidance. There are moments when the soul needs protection from noise. Rest can restore our ability to distinguish what matters from what merely demands attention. Solitude may allow a deeper truth to surface.

Pisces can also blur the difference between sanctuary and escape. A dream can reveal another dimension of reality. It can also protect us from engaging with the reality already before us. The question is not whether a dream appears practical by ordinary standards. The question is whether it deepens our relationship with life.

A true dream asks something of us. It changes how we live. It requires form and responsibility. A fantasy asks us to protect it from reality.

Dreams may become more vivid under this eclipse and make them harder to ignore. Some dreams will prove more real than what we once accepted as reality. Other visions will fade when we try to make them real. The difference becomes visible through practice. What can be embodied will begin to find a form.

The North Node at 29° Aquarius points toward a future that has reached a critical threshold. The anaretic degree intensifies the unfinished business of the sign. Questions of belonging and collective identity press toward resolution. So does the relationship between social participation and individual freedom.

Venus in Libra opposes Neptune and Saturn in Aries, bringing relationships and agreements to a threshold. Venus seeks harmony through mutual understanding. In Libra, the desire for peace may lead us to avoid necessary conflict. We may give away too much of ourselves to preserve a relationship or expect someone else to restore the balance.

Neptune in Aries can blur the difference between authentic desire and an imagined identity. We may idealize independence or project heroic qualities onto someone who appears fearless. Saturn in Aries brings a more difficult test. It asks whether we possess the courage and discipline to stand behind our own choices.

Together, Saturn and Neptune expose the distance between an ideal relationship and the relationship that actually exists. Promises are tested by behavior. Affection must make room for truth. Harmony cannot be sustained through avoidance.

We are asked to remain open to relationship without abandoning ourselves. A genuine boundary preserves our integrity. The deeper question is not whether a connection can be saved at any cost, but whether each person can remain real within it.

Aquarius asks us to recognize the value of individuality. It does not demand rebellion for its own sake. It seeks enough freedom for an original intelligence to emerge. At this eclipse, the distance between originality and conformism may become painfully clear.

Some people will discover that they have altered themselves to remain acceptable to a group. Others may realize that their performance of nonconformity has become another kind of uniform. A person can be loyal to a collective without abandoning independent thought. One can also be original without rejecting every form of relationship.

There could be a wildness in the boundaries of things. Familiar definitions may no longer fit. Social roles can become unstable. Agreements may need to be redefined because the people involved have changed. What once appeared fixed may reveal itself as provisional.

Self-expression tests its boundaries in every direction. We may say what has been forbidden. A hidden part of ourselves may need to be expressed openly. That emerging identity might exceed how other people use to define it. This process will not always be graceful. The new self may first appear through disruption because no accepted form yet exists for it.

The South Node at 29° Leo reveals an old need for recognition. We may have learned to perform a certain identity to receive attention or approval. At Leo’s final degree, this way of seeking recognition has run its course.

The eclipse does not ask us to extinguish the creative self. Leo’s warmth and courage remain essential. What must be released is the demand that every act of self-expression receive confirmation. Creativity becomes distorted when the audience is granted authority over the meaning of the work.

A visible role or position of leadership may come to an end. Someone may step away from being the central figure in a family or community. Although this can feel like a loss of importance, it may free them to express themselves without needing recognition.

The South Node in Leo asks us to stop performing an identity that no longer reflects who we are. The North Node in Aquarius turns us toward something larger than personal recognition. We do not have to lose our individuality to belong. We are asked to become ourselves while remaining capable of genuine relationship.

The Virgo–Pisces axis concerns our well-being and the process of healing. It also shows how we care for ourselves and others during times of suffering. Healing crises may erupt under this eclipse and demand active attention. A condition we have avoided may now require immediate attention. The body may speak with greater insistence. Emotional exhaustion may show us where our way of living has become unsustainable.

The Virgo–Pisces axis concerns our well-being and the process of healing. It also shows how we care for ourselves and others during times of suffering. Healing crises may erupt under this eclipse and demand active attention. A condition we have avoided may now require immediate care. Emotional exhaustion may show us where our way of living has become unsustainable.

A crisis does not always mean that healing has failed. It may show that the current way of living can no longer continue. Symptoms may reveal needs we failed to notice earlier. Mercury in Virgo asks us to observe carefully and respond to what is actually happening. Pisces reminds us that healing involves the whole person, not only the condition being treated.

Chiron–Sedna in Gemini squares the lunar nodes as a skipped step. Something that was never heard must now be spoken. The Virgo South Node cannot analyze its way beyond the wound, and the Pisces North Node cannot redeem what consciousness still refuses to acknowledge. Before surrender becomes possible, the missing story must be restored.

The deeper question may not be how quickly we can return to the life we had. It may be whether that life still allows us to become who we are. What is essential continues to even matter after the drama has subsided. It supports life rather than merely preserving appearances. What is non-negotiable is what we cannot surrender without betraying something essential within us.

A genuine boundary preserves our integrity. A defensive wall prevents relationship. The eclipse may expose where those distinctions have become confused. We might defend a habit as though it were a principle. We may negotiate away a basic need to avoid disappointing someone. The events surrounding the eclipse help us recognize the difference.

Let Virgo identify what must be done. Let Pisces remember why it matters. Permit Aquarius to imagine another arrangement. Allow Leo to offer the courage required to inhabit it.

Not everything can accompany us across this threshold. Some forms have completed their purpose. Some dreams need to awaken. Certain criticisms must lose their authority before a more truthful voice can be heard.

The coming change may feel wild because it exceeds the boundaries that once defined us. Do not rush to contain it. Give it enough attention to reveal its nature. Then make the precise adjustment that reality requires.

The eclipse does not demand perfection. It asks for an honest response.

This may affect presidents and prime ministers. It can also involve cabinet officials and party leaders. Judges and military commanders may be drawn into the struggle. The same pattern applies to chief executives and media owners. Anyone who has built an institution around personal control could come under pressure.

A leader may lose public confidence or face removal. Misconduct could be exposed through documents or testimony. The issue may involve abuse of office or conflicts of interest. It could also involve financial arrangements or obstruction of an investigation. In other cases the problem may be incompetence. Warnings may have been ignored because they threatened the leader’s image. Bad decisions may have been concealed by staff who were afraid to speak honestly.

Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Leo points to dramatic claims and sweeping promises. Pluto in Aquarius opposes both planets. This suggests a struggle between the official story and information that has been hidden. Leaders may try to dominate the narrative. Critics may be attacked instead of answered. The facts may emerge through leaks or independent investigations.

Self-preservation appears to be the likely motive. A leader may be protecting a position or fortune. They may want immunity from consequences. They may also be trying to control who succeeds them.

A more serious possibility is an attempt to seize or consolidate power. A threatened leader might claim emergency authority or bypass normal oversight. Courts or legislatures could be ignored. Independent officials may be removed and replaced with loyalists. An election or lawful transfer of power could be challenged.

This would not necessarily begin as an obvious coup. It could develop through legal procedures stretched beyond their intended purpose. A manufactured crisis might be used to justify extraordinary authority. A temporary measure could become permanent. Loyalty to the leader may be presented as loyalty to the country.

Uranus conjunct Sedna in Gemini points to sudden developments involving information and technology. Digital records could expose what happened. Whistleblowers may find an audience. At the same time false material could circulate beside genuine evidence. Verification will be essential.

Uranus and Sedna form a grand air trine with Venus in Libra and Pluto in Aquarius. This supports new alliances and rapid coordination. Journalists and investigators may connect information that had previously remained separate. Political opponents may cooperate to defend an institution. The pattern also supports reform of systems that allowed too much power to accumulate in one place.

Venus opposite Neptune warns that some alliances may be deceptive. Calls for unity could be used to prevent accountability. A settlement may protect the institution while allowing responsible people to avoid consequences.

The North Node in Aquarius shows the broader direction. Power needs to move away from one dominant personality and toward stronger institutions. The real solution is not replacing one leader with another. It is creating a system that can survive without becoming the property of the person at the top.

On a collective level this eclipse may weaken the public appetite for heroic leadership. People may become more skeptical of charisma without competence. They may demand transparency and independent oversight. Courts and legislatures could become central to the outcome. Civil servants and journalists may also play decisive roles.

On a personal level the same pattern can appear in a workplace or family. A person in charge may protect an image of competence while others manage the consequences. Someone may leave a role that has become hollow. Another person may be asked to lead after the current authority fails.

The eclipse will affect everyone differently according to the individual birth chart. Its general message is still clear. Leadership based on image is being tested by facts. Misconduct may be exposed. Incompetence may become harder to hide. A threatened leader may attempt to hold power by weakening the rules meant to limit it.

The outcome depends on whether people remain focused on evidence and structural reform. If attention becomes trapped in another contest between personalities then the same pattern will return under a different name.

The path of totality will be narrow. It begins in a remote part of northern Russia, crosses the Arctic into Greenland, passes through Iceland and continues across the North Atlantic. It then crosses northern Spain and clips the far northwestern tip of Portugal shortly before sunset. Totality will generally last less than two minutes and nowhere longer than about two and a half minutes.

A partial eclipse will be visible across a much larger region. This includes most of Canada and parts of the northern United States from Alaska eastward. Much of Europe will see it. Northwestern Africa will also see a partial eclipse. Coverage will be much greater closer to the path of totality. Parts of Europe and Africa will see the partially eclipsed Sun setting.

It will not be visible from most of the Southern Hemisphere or most of the central and southern United States.

After decades of studying astrology and sitting with hundreds of charts, I have come to believe that the greatest misunderstanding about astrology is not that it does not work.

It is that we often ask it the wrong questions.

Most people first encounter astrology through personality. They want to know their Sun sign, Moon sign, Ascendant, strengths, challenges, relationship patterns, or vocational tendencies. These are meaningful questions, and many astrological traditions have developed profound methods for exploring them.

But eventually, many people reach a point where personality descriptions no longer satisfy the deeper questions emerging within them.

After all, if you have lived on this planet for several decades, you already know something about yourself. You know your patterns. You know what comes naturally and what challenges you. You know the roles you have played and the identities you have developed.

The deeper questions are often different.

• Why has my life unfolded the way it has?

• Why do certain experiences and relationships keep repeating?

• Why do some moments of crisis seem to demand that I become someone new?

• What is the deeper meaning of this chapter of my life?

These are the questions that led me more deeply into Evolutionary Astrology.

Astrology Is Not Just About Describing Who You Are

A truly meaningful astrology reading does more than confirm what you already know.

It reveals patterns you may not have consciously recognized. It connects experiences that once seemed unrelated. Not only that, but it offers a deeper understanding of why certain themes have repeated throughout your life and illuminates the evolutionary path unfolding through those experiences.

A birth chart is not a collection of personality traits. It is a symbolic map of potential, desire, experience, and growth.

But that map cannot be interpreted in isolation.

The chart belongs to a unique human being.

No two people express the same chart in exactly the same way. Even identical twins, born minutes apart, develop different lives because consciousness, choice, circumstance, and experience shape how the symbols are lived.

This is why meaningful astrology begins with listening.

Before interpreting a chart, I want to understand the person sitting with me. I want to know their story, their questions, their challenges, their relationships, and the life circumstances that have brought them to this moment.

Only then does the chart begin to reveal its deeper meaning.

Astrology is not a mechanical system where a placement automatically equals an outcome. The symbols come alive through the individual.

The chart does not replace the person.

The person brings the chart to life.

The Foundation of Evolutionary Astrology

My work is grounded in Evolutionary Astrology, the approach developed through the teachings of Jeffrey Wolf Green.

Within this tradition, I begin with Pluto and the lunar nodes because they provide the foundation for understanding the Soul’s evolutionary journey.

Pluto describes the deepest desires and compulsions of the Soul—the patterns, attachments, and unresolved dynamics carried forward into this lifetime. The lunar nodes reveal the evolutionary movement between what has already been developed and what the Soul is learning to embrace.

Together, they provide the central organizing principle of the horoscope.

Once this foundation is understood, the remaining planets, aspects, houses, and transits begin to make sense as parts of a larger story.

The chart becomes less about isolated characteristics and more about the unfolding of a life.

It becomes a conversation about purpose, growth, and transformation.

The Difference Between Information and Understanding

There is a difference between receiving information about a chart and experiencing a meaningful astrological consultation.

Information tells you what is there.

Understanding reveals why it matters.

A reading should not simply tell you that you have a particular placement or aspect. You already have the chart. The deeper question is how that symbolism is expressing through your unique life experience.

This is why I do not believe in one-size-fits-all astrology.

A computer-generated report cannot listen. It cannot ask questions. It cannot understand the emotional context surrounding a particular life event. It cannot recognize the subtle ways a symbol may be expressing itself differently depending on a person’s consciousness and choices.

A meaningful reading requires dialogue, presence, and interpretation.

It requires seeing the whole person.

Why We Seek Astrology During Times of Change

People often seek astrology at turning points.

A relationship changes.

A career no longer feels aligned.

An old identity begins to dissolve.

A question keeps returning, asking to be answered.

Just as the river knows its way to the sea, your Soul knows the way home.

Yet security is easily confused with familiarity. We often continue living according to old patterns simply because they have become comfortable. This New Moon invites us to distinguish between what genuinely sustains us and what merely feels familiar.

Mercury, retrograde in Cancer, brings Hermes to a crossroads. Rather than hurrying toward the next destination, the messenger pauses and turns around. He retraces old roads, revisits forgotten conversations, and uncovers assumptions that have quietly shaped our choices for years. The past returns, not to imprison us, but to reveal the beliefs upon which the future is being built.

Jupiter’s entrance into Leo introduces the expansive confidence of Zeus, who continually sought to enlarge the world over which he ruled. Jupiter always expands. It does not decide whether what grows is healthy or unhealthy; it simply magnifies what already exists. Leo asks whether we have the courage to express ourselves fully, but it also reminds us that a larger life is not necessarily a better one. Authentic growth depends upon authenticity itself, not upon the size of our ambitions.

The South Node’s conjunction with Venus in Virgo recalls Hestia, tending the sacred fire with unwavering devotion. Daily practice, responsibility, and careful attention become sources of stability. Yet even sacred rituals can outlive their purpose. Sometimes we continue tending fires that no longer warm us simply because they have become familiar. Venus suggests these habits may be especially visible within our relationships, our values, and the ways we measure our own worth.

Opposite this movement, the North Node in Pisces leads us toward the vast waters of Poseidon. Here certainty begins dissolving. Not everything can be organized, explained, or controlled. The ocean teaches trust because no one commands the tides. As Pisces becomes the evolutionary direction, purpose gradually arises less from managing life and more from participating in it.

Neptune’s journey through Aries suggests the beginning of an entirely new dream. The old vision has begun fading before the new one has fully appeared. This is often an uncomfortable passage, yet it is also profoundly creative. Aries asks us to step forward without guarantees. Neptune asks us to trust the vision before it becomes visible. Together they encourage the courage to imagine a life that has not yet existed.

Deep beneath these movements, Hades continues his patient work through Pluto in Aquarius. Hades never destroys simply for the sake of destruction. He removes whatever no longer possesses life. Aquarius directs that work toward collective assumptions, social structures, and inherited ways of thinking. The transformation now underway is not merely political or technological. It is psychological. We are gradually changing our understanding of what it means to participate in human society.

The opposition between Jupiter and Pluto becomes a dialogue between Zeus and Hades. Zeus reaches outward toward possibility; Hades reaches inward toward truth. Expansion alone eventually becomes excess. Transformation alone can become withdrawal. Together they suggest that lasting growth requires both vision and depth.

Uranus, traveling through Gemini with Sedna and Mars, evokes the spirit of Prometheus, the one who stole fire from the gods and placed it into human hands. Fire is more than technology. It is awareness itself. New ideas appear unexpectedly. Old assumptions lose their certainty. Conversations accelerate. Sedna reminds us that some of our deepest wisdom emerges only after betrayal, loss, or profound change, while Mars provides the courage to act upon what has been discovered.

Meanwhile, Eris continues refusing exclusion, and Chiron continues teaching that every wound contains the possibility of wisdom. Together they remind us that whatever has been denied eventually seeks expression. Healing begins when we stop negotiating away parts of ourselves simply to belong.

The deeper message of this New Moon is remarkably simple. Security does not arise from preserving the past. It develops from living in greater alignment with what is true. As familiar habits give way to authentic values, we discover that the ground beneath our feet has been quietly changing all along. The task now is not to hold tighter to what has been, but to trust what is gradually emerging.

Nine Gates of Destiny

“History does not always move in a straight line. At certain moments it gathers itself, compresses, and then releases enormous evolutionary pressure through a sequence of events that reshape a nation’s identity. The United States now appears to be approaching one of those moments.

In Nine Gates, I examine an astrological configuration that has never before occurred in the history of the United States. Between 2026 and 2030, the dwarf planet Eris forms nine exact squares to Pluto in the national chart used here for the United States. That chart is set for July 6, 1775, at 11:03 AM in Philadelphia—the moment the Continental Congress issued the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms. In that document the colonies formally declared that armed resistance to the British crown was no longer avoidable. A scattered rebellion crystallized into a national struggle for independence. In the chart cast for that moment, Pluto stands at 25° Capricorn.

Beginning in June 2026, transiting Eris in Aries initiates a sequence of exact squares to that point. The cycle does not occur once or twice, but nine times over the course of four years. In astrological symbolism a square represents a crisis of action—a moment when forces that have been building beneath the surface can no longer remain contained. Something must change form in order for evolution to proceed.

Pluto symbolizes the deep understructure of a system—its hidden concentrations of power, wealth, survival instinct, and control. Within the framework of Evolutionary Astrology it also reflects the unresolved karmic patterns that societies carry forward from their past. Eris operates differently. In myth she represents the force that reveals what has been excluded. Where Pluto consolidates power, Eris exposes the consequences of that consolidation. She reveals fractures, hypocrisies, and voices that have been pushed outside the circle of recognition. When these two archetypal forces meet through a square, buried contradictions tend to rise toward visibility. What has been ignored, denied, or suppressed can no longer remain hidden.

What makes the coming cycle so unusual is not simply the symbolism of Eris and Pluto individually, but the rhythm created by nine successive activations of the same pressure point in the American chart. Rather than a single moment of crisis, the nation approaches a sequence of thresholds—nine gates through which it must pass. Each gate opens a new phase of confrontation between the ideals that founded the republic and the realities through which those ideals have been implemented.

The first of these gates begins to stir in 2026, yet the atmosphere surrounding the country already resembles the early stages of pressure building beneath the surface. Across the United States, waves of protest have emerged around questions of immigration enforcement, policing authority, and the reach of federal power. Demonstrations have appeared in multiple cities as communities respond to controversial enforcement actions and fatal encounters involving immigration agents. At the same time, organized protest movements increasingly frame their demonstrations around concerns about expanding executive authority and the balance between democratic governance and centralized power.

These domestic tensions unfold alongside intensifying geopolitical pressures. The United States has moved deeper into confrontations abroad, particularly in the Middle East, where military actions involving Iran have raised the possibility of broader regional conflict. Each of these developments reflects a similar pattern: authority asserts itself, resistance emerges, and polarization intensifies.

From an astrological perspective, this is precisely the type of atmosphere that often appears as Eris begins activating a Pluto point. The first gate does not represent the full unfolding of the cycle. It is more accurately described as the moment when denial becomes impossible. Eris does not immediately dismantle systems; she exposes them. She reveals the tension between a nation’s founding principles and the structures that have grown around those principles over time.

In the American case, those tensions are embedded deeply within the country’s origin story. The nation was founded in the name of liberty, yet its early economy depended upon slavery. It proclaimed equality while restricting citizenship. It declared independence from imperial authority while expanding its own influence across a continent and eventually across the globe. These contradictions have always existed beneath the surface of American life. Most of the time they remain partially hidden by the momentum of ordinary history. Periodically, however, deeper fault lines rise toward visibility.

The Eris–Pluto squares appear to mark one of those periods. Between 2026 and 2030 the United States moves through nine successive activations of the same evolutionary pressure point. Some of these passages may manifest politically, others culturally, economically, or environmentally. Taken together they suggest a prolonged historical passage rather than a single crisis.

Astrology does not dictate specific outcomes. Planetary cycles do not force events to unfold in predetermined ways. What they reveal are periods when the collective field becomes more sensitive—when the consequences of human choices accelerate and unresolved patterns move closer to the surface of awareness.

For that reason the opening of the first gate should not be understood as a prediction of catastrophe. It is better understood as the beginning of a national reckoning—a period in which the country becomes more aware of the contradictions embedded within its own foundations. Whether those contradictions ultimately lead to fragmentation or renewal will depend not on the planets themselves but on how individuals, institutions, and communities respond to the pressures they symbolize.

History periodically presents nations with moments when the path forward must be consciously chosen rather than simply inherited from the past. The approaching Eris–Pluto cycle suggests that the United States may be approaching such a threshold now.”

On June 1, 2026, the first of nine exact 1^st quarter squares between Eris and US Pluto perfects for the first time. This opening contact begins a prolonged evolutionary sequence extending through 2030 and beyond as Eris in Aries repeatedly forms a first-quarter square to the natal Pluto of the United States chart dated July 6, 1775.

Dane Rudhyar described this type of transit as a “crisis in action.” Rudhyar used that phrase for periods when accumulated tensions can no longer remain dormant and must express themselves through visible events, decisive movement, confrontation, and irreversible change. A crisis in action is not merely emotional discomfort or internal pressure. It is the stage where conditions become too unstable or contradictory for the old pattern to continue functioning. What has been hidden begins surfacing into lived reality.

The first Eris–Pluto square marks the beginning of a national initiation rather than a temporary political crisis.

The astrology suggests a prolonged dismantling of denial structures operating within the American psyche, government, economy, mythology, and collective identity itself. The pressure is political. It is psychological. It is ancestral. It is ecological. It is spiritual all at once. What has been buried, projected outward, or rationalized within institutional systems increasingly demands direct confrontation.

The image of a gate matters because a gate implies passage into a different condition of reality. Once crossed, something fundamental changes. The first gate opens on June 1, 2026, and once it opens, the atmosphere changes with it.

The chart used for this work is the July 6, 1775 chart for the Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, to “bear arms” against mother country England. In evolutionary terms, this chart reflects the moment the colonies psychologically crossed from grievance into irrevocable identity.

The nation’s natal Pluto sits at 25° Capricorn retrograde in the 4th house. Astrologically, Pluto symbolizes the deep unconscious forces operating beneath a nation’s surface identity. Pluto correlates with concentrated power. It correlates with buried history and collective fear. Pluto also reflects survival instinct, trauma, compulsion, and the karmic patterns shaping civilizations across time.

Specifically, Pluto in Capricorn correlates with hierarchy and institutional authority. It correlates with empire, economic concentration, and inherited systems of control. Positioned in the 4th house, Pluto points toward unresolved ancestral material embedded within the nation’s foundations themselves. This symbolism includes slavery and conquest. It includes displacement, entrenched class structures, hidden oligarchies, and the mythology surrounding national innocence and exceptionalism.

For decades, many of these unresolved tensions have remained partially contained through economic expansion, technological distraction, ideological polarization, and carefully managed narratives. Eris does not permit this concealment.

Mythologically, Eris was the goddess excluded from the banquet of the gods. Her exclusion contributed to the unraveling of the social order surrounding the classical Mycenaean Age. Astrologically, Eris correlates with what systems exile and suppress. She exposes what societies marginalize, deny, or refuse to acknowledge.

Pluto compresses. Eris exposes.

As it transits through Aries, Eris operates through confrontation and rupture. She correlates with rebellion, identity crisis, individuation, and direct challenge to authority. Aries initiates movement. Aries forces action.

This archetypal pressure intensifies between denied realities and entrenched systems of control. Suppressed truths increasingly become impossible to contain. Institutional credibility erodes. Public trust fractures as populations increasingly rely upon separate media ecosystems shaped by algorithms, social media platforms, corporations, influencers, and ideological communities.

As these media systems diverge, populations no longer share the same understanding of truth, events, authority, or reality itself. Competing narratives intensify across society. Perceptual fragmentation accelerates as populations lose a shared sense of reality. Polarization deepens because contradictions that once remained hidden are now surfacing into visibility.

The first gate does not emerge in isolation. It arises from pressures that have been building beneath the surface of collective life for many years. It breaks containment around conditions already developing beneath the surface. The years preceding June 2026 already show growing instability within political institutions and media systems. Global alliances appear increasingly fragile. Economic structures and environmental conditions become more unstable. The collective psychological atmosphere of society itself shows growing signs of exhaustion and fragmentation.

At the same time, Pluto’s movement through Aquarius accelerates technological change and social fragmentation. Conflicts increasingly emerge over who controls information and how populations are monitored. Governments, corporations, artificial intelligence, social media platforms, and digital technologies gain growing power to track communication, behavior, movement, opinions, and personal data.

As these systems expand, tensions grow between security and privacy, freedom and control, and individual rights versus institutional power. As these systems continue expanding, populations may become increasingly concerned about how information is collected, monitored, filtered, and controlled. Public anxiety surrounding censorship, digital tracking, facial recognition technology, online monitoring, and mass data collection may intensify dramatically. Many individuals may begin questioning how much privacy still exists within modern technological society and how much influence governments, corporations, artificial intelligence systems, and social media platforms now possess over perception, behavior, opinion, and public discourse. Growing awareness of algorithmic manipulation and concentrated informational power may deepen distrust toward large institutions while simultaneously increasing feelings of psychological vulnerability and social instability.

Institutions often justify expanded surveillance as necessary for security, stability, public safety, or social management during periods of instability and fragmentation. Conflicts surrounding information and artificial intelligence deepen. Questions involving collective identity become increasingly volatile.

Uranus nears its conjunction to Sedna in Gemini, creating a profoundly destabilizing archetypal combination. This transit correlates with radical shifts in perception and communication systems. It also intensifies ecological awareness and collective nervous-system overload. Uranus disrupts existing structures while Sedna carries themes of betrayal, abandonment, ecological consequence, and frozen trauma emerging from the depths of collective consciousness.

At this celestial moment, Saturn and Neptune conjoin near 0° Aries on the world axis, the first degrees of the cardinal signs historically associated with major collective turning points. Saturn–Neptune cycles often coincide with the dissolution and restructuring of collective realities. Old myths begin weakening beneath mounting contradiction. Ideological systems gradually lose coherence and stability. The boundary separating reality from projection becomes increasingly unstable. Populations oscillate between disillusionment and visionary longing.

Within this larger atmosphere, the Eris–Pluto square functions as the ignition point. Because Eris repeatedly moves direct and retrograde across the same degree range nine times, each exact square functions like a recurring wave of pressure. Initial passes externalize conflict visibly into events, institutional crises, exposures, and social confrontation. Retrograde passes deepen psychological destabilization and collective reflection. Later passes often bring escalation, consequence, or irreversible transformation.

Several additional configurations surrounding the first gate deepen and complicate the meaning of the moment. The astrology suggests destabilization throughout existing systems. At the same time, it also suggests the emergence of new alliances and collective identities. New forms of participation may arise directly from the crisis itself.

One of the most important supporting aspects involves transiting Eris in Aries trining the United States Venus in Leo conjunct the North Node in the 11th house. This placement has always reflected part of the nation’s evolutionary potential toward creative participation, shared vision, cultural vitality, and collective organization around inspiration rather than fear.

In its highest expression, this placement points toward creativity and courage. It also reflects generosity and meaningful collective contribution. In its distorted expression, this placement can manifest as performative nationalism and celebrity culture. It may also produce ego inflation and compulsive dependence upon external validation.

Under this trine, excluded populations and suppressed voices increasingly challenge inherited systems of belonging and social hierarchy. The aspect accelerates rather than obstructs. New coalitions may form rapidly. Grassroots movements may expand. Decentralized communities and alternative economies may emerge outside traditional institutional authority.

Because the North Node is involved, the pressure is evolutionary. The nation is being pushed toward a different understanding of community itself. The old Consensus-era model of collective identity organized around centralized authority and inherited national mythology becomes increasingly unstable. More decentralized forms of participation begin emerging in its place as populations increasingly lose trust in centralized institutions, traditional authority structures, and top-down systems of organization. This shift may appear through local organizing, independent media, cooperative economic models, community-based problem solving, and new forms of participation operating outside traditional institutions.

Some of these emerging structures may become creative and adaptive responses to institutional breakdown. Others may become increasingly polarized, isolated, or emotionally reactive. The astrology does not determine which direction prevails. It describes the weakening of centralized systems and the simultaneous emergence of new forms of collective organization arising in response to that instability.

Economic instability and social fragmentation may simultaneously produce unexpected forms of local cooperation. Mutual aid networks may expand rapidly. Artistic expression may become increasingly important within the collective atmosphere. Grassroots organization may emerge outside traditional institutional structures.

At nearly the same time, transiting Eris opposes the United States Moon in Libra in the 1st house, dramatically intensifying emotional polarization within the collective atmosphere. In mundane astrology, the Moon correlates with public mood, emotional security, collective instinct, and the psychological condition of the population itself.

Libra has historically sought equilibrium through diplomacy and civility. It also seeks stability through legal process and social agreement. Yet Libra can avoid conflict and suppress deeper tensions beneath the appearance of balance. Eris opposing the Moon disrupts this equilibrium.

Emotional reactions intensify. Public sentiment becomes increasingly volatile and reactive. Populations may feel psychologically exhausted, emotionally overstimulated, and unable to regain a stable center of gravity. Social relationships themselves begin carrying heightened political and ideological tension.

Because the Moon resides in the 1st house, this emotional destabilization becomes highly visible within the nation’s public identity. Questions surrounding fairness and justice intensify during this period. Issues involving race and inclusion become increasingly emotionally charged. Constitutional interpretation may become a source of escalating conflict. Questions about where people belong, who is included, and how individuals identify themselves within society become increasingly emotionally charged across the collective atmosphere.

Distrust toward institutions associated with mediation and balance may also increase dramatically during this period. Courts, journalism, universities, diplomacy, and legal systems may increasingly be perceived not as neutral structures, but as extensions of deeper power struggles.

Another important background configuration involves the transiting South Node in Virgo forming a grand trine with natal Eris in Capricorn and transiting Eris in Aries. Grand trines create self-reinforcing energetic flow, which in mundane astrology can accelerate conditions already in motion by reducing resistance to manifestation.

The South Node in Virgo correlates with collective karmic patterns involving bureaucratic systems, institutional management, technocratic thinking, over-analysis, productivity obsession, and the attempt to maintain stability through procedure, categorization, and control. Because the South Node is involved, the configuration suggests that many of the emerging conditions are not entirely new. They represent the resurfacing of unresolved collective patterns that have been developing beneath the surface for a long time.

The trine linking Virgo, Capricorn, and Aries allows these pressures to circulate rapidly through institutional, political, and social systems. Existing structures may become trapped within self-reinforcing cycles of reaction, crisis management, narrative control, bureaucratic overreach, and escalating fragmentation. Governments and institutions may attempt to preserve stability through increased management and regulation, yet those same efforts may unintentionally intensify distrust, polarization, and resistance.

Grand trines are not inherently beneficial simply because they create flow. In mundane astrology, they often strengthen and accelerate whatever historical conditions are already unfolding. Because energy flows easily through them, they can also accelerate adaptation and innovation when consciousness is present.

The same configuration may stimulate new forms of communication as individuals and communities increasingly turn toward independent media platforms, decentralized information networks, and direct peer-to-peer exchange outside traditional gatekeeping structures.

It may also correlate with decentralized forms of organization in which smaller groups, local alliances, and flexible networks begin assuming functions that larger centralized institutions are increasingly unable to manage effectively.

In many areas of society, local cooperation may deepen as communities respond to economic, political, ecological, or social instability through mutual aid, regional problem-solving, shared resources, and practical forms of collective support.

Alternative governance structures may begin emerging as growing numbers of people lose confidence in existing institutional systems and experiment with more localized, participatory, or decentralized models of leadership and decision-making.

The configuration may also accelerate technological innovation, particularly technologies designed to bypass centralized control, expand independent access to information, decentralize economic exchange, or create new forms of digital participation and coordination.

At the same time, grassroots participation may expand as increasing numbers of individuals become directly involved in social, political, educational, ecological, or community-based initiatives operating outside traditional institutional frameworks and established systems of authority.

The involvement of Eris on both ends of the configuration, transit and natal, is especially important. Eris exposes contradictions that existing systems can no longer contain. The grand trine therefore suggests that denied realities, hidden tensions, and unresolved collective grievances may spread rapidly into public awareness during this period, making it increasingly difficult for institutional narratives to maintain psychological coherence across the population.

The South Node in Virgo correlates with collective karmic patterns involving technocratic thinking, bureaucracy, and over-analysis. It reflects systems focused on management, efficiency, productivity, and control. At a deeper level, it points to attempts to maintain order through rules, procedures, categorization, and data.

Positioned in the 12th house by transit, much of this material operates beneath conscious awareness. Hidden systems become increasingly active. Institutional blind spots deepen. Psychological exhaustion spreads through the collective atmosphere. Suppressed fear increasingly shapes political and social behavior from beneath conscious recognition.

The grand trine linking Virgo, Capricorn, and Aries suggests rapid circulation of destabilizing pressure throughout institutional systems themselves. Existing structures may become trapped within cycles of reaction and crisis management. Narrative control may intensify. Bureaucratic overreach may expand. Social and institutional fragmentation may continue accelerating.

Yet the same flow that accelerates crisis can also accelerate awakening. When consciousness is present, grand trines can support unusually rapid adaptation and the emergence of new possibilities. The same configuration may stimulate innovation in communication systems and decentralized technology. Ecological adaptation may accelerate. Mutual aid structures may become increasingly important. Alternative forms of governance may emerge outside traditional institutional models.

US Natal Eris in Capricorn in the 4th house remains especially important because it suggests unresolved ancestral tensions embedded within the nation’s foundations are becoming impossible to contain. Historical material long buried beneath national mythology rises toward visibility.

Questions surrounding land and ancestry intensify during this period. Racial and class tensions may deepen. Institutional corruption may become increasingly visible. Hidden concentrations of power may no longer remain psychologically invisible to the collective.

Adding further instability, transiting Neptune in Aries squares natal Eris in Capricorn, creating confusion surrounding truth, ideology, perception, and collective meaning itself. Neptune dissolves boundaries and weakens certainty. Distinctions separating revelation from projection and inspiration from illusion become increasingly blurred.

Under this square, confusion surrounding leadership intensifies dramatically. Questions involving identity become increasingly unstable. Collective direction itself may become difficult to define.

Populations become increasingly vulnerable to manipulation and misinformation. Projection and conspiracy thinking may spread rapidly through digital environments. Ideological extremism may intensify. Psychological exhaustion may deepen across the collective atmosphere.

Yet Neptune also dissolves structures that have become spiritually dead. Old identities weaken because they can no longer contain emerging realities. The square may therefore correlate with profound spiritual searching, disillusionment with materialist assumptions, renewed interest in symbolic understanding, and the breakdown of purely mechanistic models of reality.

A final supporting aspect involves transiting Eris in sextile to the United States North Node, suggesting that despite the intensity of the crisis, evolutionary openings remain available throughout the process. Sextiles create opportunities requiring conscious participation. They do not force outcomes automatically.

At its deepest level, the first gate does not simply describe collapse. It describes activation. The astrology correlates with forces that have been building beneath the surface of the collective psyche moving into open expression. Long-suppressed tensions, contradictions, and unresolved realities begin breaking containment.

The astrology suggests a nation entering a profound “crisis in action” where unresolved tensions can no longer remain hidden beneath institutional management, ideological certainty, or inherited mythology.

Inherited mythology refers to the collective stories, assumptions, and symbolic identities that a nation passes down through generations in order to create social meaning, cohesion, and continuity. In the United States, this can include beliefs involving freedom, progress, exceptionalism, opportunity, innocence, or the idea that the nation naturally moves toward justice and renewal.

These narratives help stabilize collective identity, yet they often simplify, idealize, or selectively remember history. During periods of profound crisis, the distance between inherited mythology and lived reality becomes increasingly difficult to maintain, forcing deeper tensions, contradictions, and unresolved historical conditions into public awareness.

Systems that once maintained stability begin losing their ability to contain growing psychological, political, and social pressure as multiple crises begin interacting simultaneously rather than separately. Economic strain heightens collective anxiety while rapid technological change reshapes communication, employment, and the public experience of reality itself. Political polarization deepens within fragmented media environments that weaken shared perception and collective agreement. Ecological instability generates additional material and emotional stress through climate disruption and growing awareness of environmental vulnerability.

At the same time, trust in governments, media systems, corporations, and other traditional authorities continues eroding, weakening the structures once relied upon to maintain social cohesion. Shared narratives begin fragmenting across multiple layers of society as populations increasingly inhabit separate informational, emotional, and ideological realities. The deeper crisis involves not only disagreement over policy, but disagreement over reality itself.

Emotional polarization intensifies as fear, anger, exhaustion, resentment, and uncertainty rise throughout the collective atmosphere while familiar structures of meaning begin destabilizing.

At the same time, new forms of participation, creativity, alliance, and collective awakening begin emerging from within the breakdown itself. Communities begin reorganizing around shared necessity, mutual support, and new forms of cooperation that arise outside exhausted institutional structures. Many individuals who previously felt isolated, powerless, or disconnected may begin discovering deeper forms of purpose, solidarity, and participation through the very conditions that initially seemed destabilizing.

The gate opens not merely to dismantle what has become unsustainable, but to force into consciousness realities, possibilities, and evolutionary potentials that the old order could no longer suppress, deny, or contain. Even within periods of disruption, the astrology also correlates with the emergence of resilience, imagination, courage, and the human capacity to create new forms of meaning within changing historical conditions.

The gates that follow continue this process, not simply as a descent into crisis, but as an unfolding sequence of confrontation, adaptation, awakening, and reorientation through which new collective possibilities gradually struggle to emerge.
