I was out running with my son the other day. Actually, to be honest, he was running, and since there is no way in heaven I can keep up with him anymore, I rode my bike alongside, offering my support.

As we got closer to home, he picked up his speed and ran faster and faster, and, having been a top athlete myself, I encouraged and cheered him on as best I could - knowing that immense progress is made when we push ourselves to or past our limits.

About a mile from our house, I noticed how he was starting to experience the physical pain and mental drain from pushing himself, and so I invited him to put a smile on his face, focus only on one step at a time, while repeating to himself, “Simple and Easy, Simple and Easy.”

He kept the speed up for about half a mile and then suddenly stopped, gasping for air.

The lowest rung is where we believe it is impossible for us to reach our goals and dreams. They are so far out there, so way beyond our current experience, that they are nothing but a distant, unreachable fantasy.

Believing this, we don’t even consider going for it. I mean, as we are fully convinced that it cannot be done, what’s the point of even trying, right?

Our dreams and visions remain tightly locked away in our hearts and minds.

In classic psychological research at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Martin Seligman demonstrated that when individuals continuously believe their goals are impossible to reach, the brain enters a state of learned helplessness. It actively suppresses our motivation and stops us from searching for solutions, imprisoning us in passive acceptance.

The next rung is when we are no longer 100% convinced our goals and dreams are impossible to reach, but we still have serious doubts about whether we can achieve them.

We may have heard stories about others reaching similar goals, but we attribute their achievements either to luck or to access to qualities or resources we do not have access to. The fact that they did it does not mean that we can do it.

Believing this, we stay idly put, wishing and hoping someone will come save us.

The middle rung is where we begin to entertain the idea that it might be possible. We begin to look into how it could be done and maybe even tentatively take some action, but because we are neither committed to reaching our dreams nor backed by strong beliefs that we actually can, our actions are more hesitant than confident.

The second-to-highest rung is where we actually start to believe that it is possible. We may know or have seen someone else achieve it and conclude that if they can do it, so can we.

This is where we begin to explore different options and start moving toward our visions with confidence and poise.

Dr. Carol Dweck’s research on the Growth Mindset proves that simply adopting the belief "It might be possible" or adding the word "Yet" ("I can't do this... yet") shifts our brain activity. EEG studies show that when people entertain the idea of possibility, the brain’s anterior cingulate cortex lights up, signaling active processing of errors, learning, and adaptability.

The top rung is where we absolutely know that it is possible for us.

Having a deep spiritual foundation, we know we live in a field of infinite possibilities where every possibility is, in fact, already done in the Mind of Spirit.

Our vision is one of those possibilities, and each step we take moves us closer to its manifestation, and Spirit is guiding, leading, and moving us every step of the way.

To become unwavering and unstoppable Spiritual Warriors, we need to live at the top of the ladder.

When we truly know that whatever our dream or vision is, is a seed planted within us, and that we have literally been charged with tending to the unfolding of this seed, when we truly know that we have everything needed to allow this seed to come into manifestation - then it is not a matter of if we can do it, it is only a matter of us allowing it to happen in, as, and through us.

• The Allness of Spirit: Spirit, God, Higher Power, the Universe, Life, Energy, or whatever word we resonate with, is all there is.
  It is fully and evenly present in every space, place, being, moment, and object.
  
  There is no space nor place where it is not. It is the One; it is the Whole.
  

• The Benevolence of Spirit: This One Mind is good. It is benevolent.
  It is eternally for itself. It cannot ever be against itself.
  
  It is eternally sourcing, fueling, and funding itself, guiding, leading, and moving itself toward ever-expanding expressions and iterations. It is a Benevolent, Loving Presence.
  

• The Perfection of Spirit: The One is always expressing itself perfectly.

Standing on this foundation, we truly become unshakeable, regardless of our external conditions and circumstances. Regardless of what our physical senses may inform us.

In any given moment, there is always so much more happening than what we can perceive and comprehend, which is why we are so wise to not judge anything by appearances here in this physical world.

What we can sense and perceive is always infinitesimal in comparison to what we can’t sense and don’t perceive.

How Can I? A Game-Changer

Obviously, it takes deep work to move up the ladder of belief from moving in complete and utter disbelief to reaching an inner knowing that it is already done and that it is happening now.

There are layers and layers of limited stories and beliefs we need to become aware of, and release, and there are obviously many different ways to do it.

While this article isn't meant to cover the ways to reprogram our minds, simply setting the intention to move up the ladder of belief, coupled with a sincere willingness to do the inner work necessary, goes a long way toward transcending the fears, worries, and doubts holding us hostage.

In addition, exchanging the disempowering “I can’t” with the empowering “How can I?” is a powerful catalyst, informing the Sacred Laws (and our brains) that we are interested in finding a way, even when the way isn't currently revealed to us.

Once we start asking that empowering question on a constant and regular basis, and once the answers begin to reveal themselves, it is imperative that we act on the guidance we receive.

In other words, we need to listen and obey that inner nudging and those inspired ideas as we catch them.

As we begin to move forward, doing something every day that moves us toward our dreams and visions, we will one day realize that we have inadvertently moved up the ladder of belief to now believing that it is fully possible for us to reach our dreams and visions.

Action always beats inaction, and once we start to move toward our dreams and visions, we will build both confidence and momentum. Both of which spark even higher levels of themselves.

Or as Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity International, so beautifully put it:

“It's easier to act your way into a new way of thinking than to think your way into a new way of acting."

A few days ago, I had one of those beautiful demonstrations, speaking to the fact that as long as we know the What, the How will follow.

I woke up at 2 am with this particular idea in my mind that I just couldn’t get away from. I tried to go back to sleep; I affirmed, I prayed, but nothing helped.

This idea was like a magnet that had attached itself to my mind, and there was nothing I could do to pry it off.

This idea was absolutely novel and so aligned with what I am moving toward, but since it was the middle of the night, I wanted to get a few more hours of sleep before exploring and mining it.

After a while of futilely trying to find sleep again, I gave in, got up, opened my laptop, and made myself available to what wanted to come through.

As you perhaps can imagine, what did come through was something that I can only describe as a quantum leap in how to move toward becoming a professional writer and ultimately to live that simple, peaceful, and quiet life - unbound by time and place.

As this next stage is still new and tender, I will not share it now, but it speaks beautifully to how every single idea, dream, vision, and goal we catch is a Divine Seed planted within us.

What this means is that:

1. Spirit wants these divine seeds to come into fruition, so that Spirit may come into ever greater and grander expression in, as, and through us, and each of these particular seeds.

2. Inherently, they have a life of their own. Just like any seed in nature has everything it needs to unfold into whatever it is destined to become. Once we commit to the idea, dream, vision, goal - it will start pulling, pushing, and nudging us along the path of its manifestation.

Our Unwavering Commitment is Essential

To become unwavering and unstoppable Spiritual Warriors, we first need to wholeheartedly commit to our dream or goal.

I am listening to a book called “How Rich People Think” by Steve Siebold, and it says something like “The masses have vague dreams with loose deadlines. Rich people have ultra-specific dreams with do-or-die deadlines”.

All through the book, the core message is that to achieve any goal or dream, we need to commit to achieving it.

Wishing, hoping, waiting to see what happens - while normal - none of these will bring impossible dreams into manifestation.

This is what the entire unwavering and unstoppable is all about. To consciously choose to go for it and then let nothing stop us until we are living the life we want to live.

We need to challenge the egoic voice within that is perhaps saying things like: “Who do you think you are? You are a nobody. You don’t have enough money, intelligence, time, resources… (fill in the blank).” Or “You are too old, too young, too inexperienced, too… (fill in the blank).”

Regardless of how valid and justified these stories may be, the truth is that simply by catching our goals, dreams, visions, we have already been qualified and charged with the responsibility to bring them into manifestation.

Or to put it in other words, the mere fact that we have become aware of a dream, vision, or intention means that we have everything needed to allow them to come into fruition.

Active Participation Is Required…

That we have everything needed and that our dreams have a life of their own does not mean that we can just sit our butts down and passively wait for them to manifest.

The principles of a Spiritual Warrior are super clear:

• If we want anything to change, we need to change

• Unless we change, nothing is ever going to change

• When we begin to change, everything begins to change

While Spirit has already qualified us as the stewards of these Divine seeds, for them to come into fruition, we cannot remain the same person we have always been.

For the dream to move from the invisible to the visible, we need to be the ever-expanding conduit for it.

We need to release old stories, beliefs, and habits. And we need to adopt and cultivate new stories, beliefs, and habits.

The caterpillar needs to dissolve for the butterfly to emerge. The snake needs to shed its skin to keep growing. Every single tree, for as long as it lives, continues to grow. The entire cosmos is eternally expanding.

Expansion and progression are universal qualities. Nothing remains the same - unless it has a human mind and stubbornly resists the evolutionary impulse that flows through all of creation.

This makes total sense if we only stop for a moment to think about it.

The non-spiritual warrior says things like “Yeah, I get what you are saying, but I don’t know how to do it”, and then they act as if not knowing how to do it is a legitimate reason not to do it.

Hey, none of us know how to do it when we first set out.

When an Olympic Gold medalist-to-be sets the goal to become an Olympic gold medalist, they don’t have the slightest idea as to what the journey will look like.

They have no clue what they will be called to do or who they will need to become to reach that goal.

A couple who decides to bring a child into this world for the first time hasn’t got the slightest idea what they are saying Yes to. There is no way in heaven they can mentally, emotionally, or even physically prepare for what it means to become parents.

Edison supposedly tried and “failed” 10.000 times before the light bulb was invented.

We don’t know, we will never know, what the path forward will look like, or who we will be required to become.

"You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever." - Steve Jobs

It is extremely important for us to understand this one truth: we are not the ones doing it.

The acorn is not making the oak tree unfold. The mother does not make the child grow (even inside her womb).

The farmer does not make their crops grow.

The electrician does not make the electricity happen.

Every single dream, vision, intention, and goal has a life of its own. As long as we stay committed, it will guide, lead, and move us along the path of manifestation. Every step of the way.

It doesn’t matter if we don’t know how to do it. It doesn’t even matter if we don’t believe we can do it.

I mean, it obviously matters what we believe, because if we don’t believe we can, chances are we will never go for it. But I trust you get the gist.

You might be asking: If it’s not up to us to make it happen, why then is committing to it so important?

There is something in our brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). It is a dense network of neurons that acts as a filter for our perceived reality.

In any given moment, our senses are bombarded with millions of bits of sensory input. The RAS filters out almost all of it, letting through only what it deems critical.

When we sit on the fence, wishing and hoping, our RAS remains dormant. The resources, ideas, and pathways to realize our goal are literally surrounding us, but our brain marks them as noise and hides them from our conscious mind.

The moment we make an unwavering commitment however, when we say a definitive Yes to the Divine seed—we rewire our RAS.

Suddenly, our brain begins highlighting connections, answers, and “coincidences” that were previously invisible to us.

The Scottish explorer W.H. Murray beautifully captured this:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy... but the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.”

Once we lock on to a specific possibility, the whole Universe rises up to bring it into manifestation in our lives.

We Need to Choose It… (Upfront)

Like I caught this idea in the middle of the night. When I got up and acted on it, it literally catapulted me forward. That is how it happens.

If we want to become an unwavering and unstoppable Spiritual Warrior, we need to choose it.

We need to get off our butts and say, “I am going to do it. I will do what I can, and I will do all that I can to see my dream into manifestation”.

And no one can choose this for us. We need to choose it, and we need to choose it upfront.

“Consciousness always precedes form”, as Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith so beautifully puts it.

Many people sit around, waiting for the perfect time, the perfect conditions, saying things like “When such and such happens, I’ll go for it” or, “If, only this or that were different, then I would totally do it”

And guess what, they will be waiting forever.

… And Be Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable

When we commit, we are providing the right conditions for that Divine Seed to start growing and thriving. First within our consciousness, and then begin to take shape in the physical world. As long as we keep taking all the action we need to take.

Which will take us way outside both our comfort zone and our comfortability zone.

Referring back to the first principle of the Spiritual Warrior - if we want anything to change, we need to change.

We need to change our way of thinking. We need to change our way of Being. We need to change our way of doing.

Not just once but again, and again, and again.

We need to live our lives constantly pushing and expanding our comfort zones, moving into the unknown and unfamiliar.

In another book I have been listening to, called “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Ecker, it says something like: “If we only do what is easy, life will always be hard. But when we learn to do what is hard, life will become increasingly easy”.

Most people just want to be comfortable. They want to remain within their comfort zone, where it is warm and cozy. And many of them live their lives complaining and bemoaning. We explored this in an earlier article.

What they don’t understand, however, is that there is no juice in living such a lukewarm life. Pure joy and happiness come from reaching for the stars and finding the way to get there.

What We Feel Like Does Not Matter

We talked about this in the last post called Why Cultivating Discipline Is Essential If We Want To Be Free, but I feel we need to address it here as well.

Many people take what they feel like, which often is not feeling like doing something that is difficult or challenging, as a valid excuse not to do it.

And while we always want to acknowledge our emotions, giving them the power to run us is getting it backward.

As long as we give what we feel like the power to dictate our choices and actions, we will always be a slave to our emotions.

"You are never going to feel like doing it. Motivation is garbage. If you only act when you feel like it, you will never get what you want. You have to force yourself." - Mel Robbins

As unwavering and unstoppable Spiritual Warriors, we want to acknowledge how we feel, but if what we feel is preventing us from doing what we need to do to move forward toward our dreams and visions, then what we feel like does not matter.

We will not harp on this, as we just did that whole article on it, but we cannot and will not become Spiritual Warriors unless we reclaim our power over our thoughts and emotions.

I am having one of those days. You know, one when I don’t feel like doing anything. When my body and mind have teamed up in deep resistance mode.

Like a young toddler who has set their mind on saying “No” to everything.

For the past few years, to stay mentally and physically healthy, I have committed to 20 to 30 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes of meditation and prayer each day.

Through experience, I have learned that unless I honor this practice most days, I will suffer the consequences: a racing mind and a stiff, sore body.

In other words, honoring this habit is non-negotiable if I want to stay sane and physically vital.

Typically, I start my days with this morning routine, even before I open my phone or laptop, to set myself up for a good day.

And if I, for some reason, can't (or sometimes consciously choose not to) do it in the morning, I usually do it later in the day.

Today, however, as I woke up, I couldn’t bring myself to either get on the mat or sit my butt down to meditate.

In fact, it was an effort just to get out of bed and start my day, letting the ego convince me that I would probably get into the “right mood” later.

The right mood, however, never presented itself. Huge surprise, right?

What We Feel Like Is Inconsequential

As Spiritual Warriors seeking internal and external freedom, we cannot let what we feel like in any given moment determine our choices.

That’s the entire foundation of being a spiritual warrior, being unwavering and unstoppable, right?

However, the ego is such a slick trickster, and given the chance, it will do all it can to convince us not to stretch ourselves outside the known and familiar.

It has a whole range of stories and excuses ready to be blasted into our awareness to keep us within both our comfort zone and comfortability zone.

And as long as we give our mental and emotional experiences the power to run us, we will remain exactly who and where we are: reactionary, mindless drones.

Which is the exact opposite of being a spiritual warrior, living a life of ever-expanding peace, love, joy, harmony, wholeness and abundance.

"If you want to achieve the core 5% of execution that most people fail to reach, you must be willing to do what 95% of people are unwilling to do." - Robin Sharma

I am not suggesting that we never pay attention to our emotions. On the contrary, we want to always seek to be aware of our mental and emotional state, lovingly embracing and allowing whatever is to be as it is.

However, being aware of our emotions is not the same as being run by them.

We can be fully aware of feeling like not doing something, and yet consciously choose to do it.

In fact, that is exactly how we set ourselves free. Especially if the thing we don’t want to do is the very thing that will help transform the quality of our life.

Discipline Is Nothing But A Mental Muscle

When talking about discipline, I love referencing world-class athletes, because they are true warriors in the sense that they are world-class for the simple reason that they, for years, have been unwavering and unstoppable in becoming world-class.

Take any world-class athlete, in any sport. They have spent years and years honing and perfecting their game. Countless days, not to mention hours, practicing, repeating the same move, play, or whatnot, again and again.

Did they always want to? Did they always feel like it? Of course not.

We all have moments, days, and perhaps even periods, when we feel uninspired and unmotivated. When we don’t feel like doing what we need to do to move toward our impossible dream or vision.

Did they let these thoughts and emotions stop them from doing what they needed to do? Obviously not, or they wouldn’t be the world-class athletes they now are.

Were they born with that level of discipline? Some of them maybe, but most developed it over the years.

One of my earliest teachers, the late Mr. Bob Proctor, used to put it like this:

“Discipline is giving yourself a command and then following it”

Discipline is nothing but a mental muscle, and like any muscle, it can be strengthened.

It isn't an innate personality trait; it is a physical brain structure. Every time we consciously choose rather than react, we physically pave a smoother road for new levels of conscious choice.

True, past programming and conditioning may play a part in cultivating discipline. If we had important role models growing up who displayed a high level of discipline, we are more likely to have emulated them and developed it ourselves.

But just like anyone can learn how to read or write - regardless of whether their parents could - any of us can learn to cultivate the discipline to follow through on our goals and intentions.

The Struggle is the Fluid in Our Wings

When we experience internal resistance, the ego frames it as a sign to stop. But if we look at nature real quick: when a caterpillar emerges from the chrysalis, it needs to squeeze its way through a tiny opening.

That challenging physical squeeze forces fluid out of its swollen body and into its wings. If a compassionate onlooker expands that tiny opening in the chrysalis to ease the struggle, the butterfly will emerge weak and crippled. And it will never develop the ability to fly.

"Action is the foundational key to all success. It’s not about perfection, it’s about execution." - Tony Robbins

We are all a unique, perfect, and whole emanations of the Divine. We were all created with everything necessary to grow, unfold, and expand, and the friction of doing what we don’t feel like doing is the exact mechanism that drives that growth and expansion.

Neuroscience confirms this biological truth. Deep within our brains is a structure called the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC)—the physical seat of human willpower.

Brain scans reveal that the aMCC does not grow when we do things that are easy or enjoyable. It only expands when we step out of our comfortability zone and consciously choose to act even when we don’t feel like it.

“If we only do what is easy life will be hard. When we learn to do what is hard, life will become increasingly easy”. - T. Harv Ecker

Discipline is not a punishment. It is the physical and spiritual muscle of self-mastery.

Every time we consciously choose to act even when we don’t feel like it, the aMCC expands, we build our discipline muscles, and we step out of emotional reactivity into spiritual and inner freedom. Into being a Spiritual Warrior.

We Need To Want It Enough

The key to cultivating discipline is wanting something enough. If our level of desire and wanting is too low, there is really no reason for us to push ourselves into doing something we don’t feel like doing, right?

On the other hand, when we truly and deeply want something, the price to “get it” can never really be too high.

This is why some people choose to pay huge amounts of money for an item that most others wouldn’t even look at twice.

Or why some individuals push through seemingly insurmountable challenges to achieve something that others have no desire to achieve - and wouldn’t even consider achieving even if someone offered to pay them.

Motivation is the driving force behind almost everything we do, so if we find ourselves unable to muster the discipline to do something we said we would, we are wise to examine our underlying motivation.

Are we doing it because we feel we should? Or because someone else expects us to? Or to get something back in return?

Or are we doing it simply because we have a deep desire to?

There are two sorts of motivation: intrinsic and extrinsic.

Intrinsic motivation is when we want something because it makes us feel good, brings us joy, or gives us some kind of satisfaction.

Extrinsic motivation is when we want something either out of fear, to get something; praise, approval, acknowledgment, or to avoid something such as a penalty, shame, or embarrassment.

"A person's success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have—and the number of uncomfortable actions they are willing to take." - Tim Ferriss

While both are powerful motivators, external motivation often comes from a sense of not being or having enough. We need that something to feel fulfilled, to feel alright.

In my case, the motivation for my daily mental and physical health regimen is primarily internal. First, I need it to stay mentally sane and my body to stay vital, strong, and healthy.

Second, I want my children to understand the value of meditation, and I want them to see that aging does not necessarily mean getting out of shape.

Who Won, The Ego Or Me?

So who won, me or the ego?

I am happy to say that this time, I won. True, it was a rather long battle, and I had to overcome a lot of excuses to get on the mat. But the moment I took the first pose, every ounce of resistance dissipated, and I thoroughly enjoyed the full hour.

In honesty, it is not always that I come out on top, but over the years I have cultivated a level of discipline that allows me to at least emerge as the victor far more often than not - even when I don’t initially feel like it.

I didn’t plan to write this post, but sitting in a hotel lounge waiting to pick up my son from hanging out with his friends, a profound realization hit me just a few moments ago that I wanted to capture.

It has been about a week since I made the conscious choice to go pro as a writer, and even beyond that, to become a world-class writer.

Even though it was a major life decision that has already completely changed the trajectory of my life, I made it in mid-stride, so I haven’t really had the opportunity to be with it until now.

Sitting here in the lobby, with a soft instrumental Spotify playlist in my ears, looking out the window at the small wisps of white clouds slowly floating across the blue sky, alternating sips of green tea with Pepsi, it suddenly occurred to me: To become a world-class writer, I need to become someone entirely different from who I have been up until this moment.

This isn't really a new realization, nor experience, since I have moved through transformation before. But I have never made a major conscious pivot like this.

I have been on this path for close to two decades, blessed to have touched over half a million people as a creator of transformative media. As wonderful as that has been, and as grateful as I am for how I have been able to serve, the person who got me here cannot take me where I’m going now.

I heard a similar statement in the audiobook I’ve been listening to called 10x Is Easier Than 2x, which I referenced in my last post. Sitting here, in a moment of stillness and silence, it hit me like a ton of bricks: from now on, I will no longer move through life the same way I did only a week ago.

To Go Where We Have Never Gone, We Need To Become Someone We Have Never Been

The me who recorded those hundreds of hours of talks, meditations, prayers, and courses will be no more.

A growing snake needs to shed its skin, not because it wants to look pretty, but if it doesn’t, the old skin will ultimately stifle the snake’s expansion. Biologists call this ecdysis.

To become who I need to become, I will need to release large parts of who I am now. The he that got me here did good. He did amazingly good, and I am both proud and grateful for who he was and the work he did.

However, for all his wonderful accomplishments, as I set out on a journey in a completely different direction, I cannot bring him with me. In fact, trying to drag him along would only stifle my expansion.

Which, honestly, is a very strange thing to contemplate and feel into.

There are so many pivotal moments in our lives. One moment we are moving in one direction, and the next— voluntarily or involuntarily—we find ourselves moving in a completely different direction.

Each time we transform, we need to release who we have been to become who we need to become.

As the principle of the Spiritual Warrior states, if we want anything to change, we need to change.

Standing on the verge of transformation, I embrace and say yes to stepping outside the known and familiar. I willingly let go of who I used to be, so that who I need to become may emerge from within me.

These words are easy to write, and I mean them, but I also know from experience that breaking habitual ways of moving and being is easier said than done.

Even so, it needs to be done, and I know that it will be done, as the version of me who is that world-class writer already exists within the infinite mind and I give him full permission to come forth.

There Is Always A Next Version Seeking To Emerge

I am still figuring out what being a world-class writer means to me. What will I do? What will I write about? How do I want to move through life? How do I want to show up? What will my style be? What is the unique angle I get to bring? What will my standards be?

There are so many questions that need clarification. But beyond these practical questions, I need to discover who I need to become.

Over the past few years, I established an identity as a teacher, coach, and creator of transformative content. But I slowly grew into that identity through the gradual inner work I was doing. It was organic and incremental.

I didn’t just wake up one day and say, “Hey, I am going to become a coach, teach classes, and record content that will touch hundreds of thousands of people.”

Many of the steps I took and changes I made were so subtle and incremental that I don’t even remember making them.

The shift happening now is dramatically different. I have made the conscious choice to pivot my life, direction, and business on a dime. Not over the next few years, but immediately.

Making that choice was surprisingly easy, though. Through reflection and contemplation, it became abundantly clear that to keep moving toward my vision of a simple, peaceful, quiet life, unbound by time and place, continuing to create content will no longer get me “there”.

I hit a fork in the road, where I could either continue doing what I have done for the past 10+ years, which might get me a few steps closer, but never all the way... or I could pivot, take the path not yet traveled, and start walking down a path I know will move me into the full manifestation of that vision.

So making that choice was easy. Moving through the transition may not be (or maybe it will) be that easy.

I just love how Spirit eternally moves us forward into ever greater and grander versions of ourselves.

We are never done. We will never arrive at a final destination.

But no matter how far we have come, there will always be a next great and grand version waiting for us to say yes to and step into.

And as scary and disconcerting as it may sometimes feel to venture into the unknown, we can always rest assured of one thing:

Being a unique, perfect, whole, and complete expression of the One Mind, we are eternally sourced, fueled, and funded. Eternally guided, moved, and led.

We are not in this by ourselves.

The same intelligence that calls the chicken to peck the egg to step out into a completely new world, that inspires the seed to crack open to begin to root and shoot, that makes sure seasons come and go, that the distance between the sun, moon, and mother earth is exactly perfect for life to even exist here on this planet.

That same intelligence is within each of us. It is the truth and the essence of who and what we are.

The same evolutionary impulse that penetrates and permeates all of creation is our very being.

However, unlike anything in nature that cannot choose whether or not to grow and unfold, we humans can either participate in or resist our own evolution.

And this is a choice we need to make again and again and again.

A New Divine Seed Has Been Planted

Every idea, dream, or vision we ever catch is a Divine Seed planted within our consciousness.

As with every seed in nature, within these seeds is everything needed for the perfect unfolding to happen with ease and grace.

I am grateful beyond words that I have this deep realization. It allows me to step into this new iteration of my life wholeheartedly, without a sliver of doubt about whether or not this is something I can do.

Obviously, it won't be easy. Who I need to become is far beyond who I currently am. But even so, Spirit has already qualified me. Spirit has provided everything I need to start moving in this new direction, as long as I keep moving forward, to ultimately realize this new iteration of my life.

Only to have the next great and grand iteration reveal itself, requiring me to start over and do the inner work necessary to realize that version. And again. And again.

As an old teacher of mine once said:

“We are always at the bottom of our next level.”

We Are All Free As A Bird

Whoever we are, wherever we are, whatever our past experience has been—every single moment offers an opportunity to make a new choice.

A higher choice. A choice that will either subtly or dramatically alter the trajectory of our lives.

There is nothing stopping us but us—or rather, the small, limited stories and beliefs about who we are, what we are worthy of, and what we are capable of that we allow to run our lives.

A few years ago, I had an experience that drove this point home in a powerful way.

I was sitting on the porch of our old house, having a “breathing space”—a space dedicated to non-doing and pure being. Looking out over the fields and the lake beyond, I noticed a single bird flying across the field.

I followed its flight for a few moments, and then, suddenly, the bird turned about 90 degrees and took off in a completely new direction.

I will never know what prompted the bird to so dramatically alter its trajectory, but watching it made me realize that we all enjoy that same freedom.

None of us are so bogged down that we cannot choose to move in a new direction. Nothing is ever set in stone.

There is no destiny in the sense that we are caught in an experience that is permanent or unchangeable.

Even when we cannot see the way forward, just starting to articulate the kind of life we want to live and setting the intention to move in that direction sets in motion powers far beyond our ability to comprehend.

In quantum mechanics, a field of infinite potential remains a wave of probability until a focused observer measures it, collapsing the wave into a solid particle.

When we set an intention, that is exactly what is happening. We lock on to one possibility (of infinite possibilities) and call it forth into this physical dimension.

All it takes is a conscious choice to go for it.

We all inherently have a Divine Mandate to live our most beautiful life, as unique expressions of the Benevolent Loving Presence that is all there is.

I am listening to a life-changing book called “10x Is Easier Than 2x - How World Class Entrepreneurs Are Achieving More By Doing Less”.

Written and narrated by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy, this book has completely changed the trajectory of my life. But we’ll get back to that later in this post, so keep on reading 😉.

Dan Sullivan, widely recognized as one of the world's top entrepreneurial coaches, is an expert on how elite performers think.

In this book, they use a very powerful phrase I wanted to share. They said something like If We Want To Have A Better Present, We Need To Be Moving Toward A Big Future.

Though I no longer coach, teach classes, or host live events, I still meet people caught in an endless cycle of complaining and resisting their current life experience.

Having their attention more turned to what they don’t wish to experience, about what shouldn’t be, than what they wish to experience.

And as a result, by virtue of focusing more on what we don’t want than on what we do want, we perpetuate this very experience by law. Whatever we focus on expands, right?

We need to have a big vision, dream, or goal we are moving toward. We need something massive that pulls us and inspires us. Something that keeps us busy working and figuring out how to call it into manifestation.

Most people don’t have a big dream or vision for themselves or their lives. They are not moving toward something that excites or inspires them.

They don’t have an awesome future they are moving toward, which leaves them in a void where their attention is pulled randomly to whatever is happening in the present.

And as there is always something that is not to their liking, as they have nothing else to focus on, that’s what their attention is pulled.

We Need A Big Vision For Our Lives

I recently had a student from one of my online courses reach out to share their experience and ask for my take.

They shared that they felt torn and split by too many responsibilities, to the point where they had difficulty discerning which were most important.

I responded that the way to overcome this is to have a vision so big that all other smaller visions fall under its umbrella.

When our visions are too small, every activity seems segmented and separated. We pull this way and that way, never sure which activity or priority we need to turn our time and energy to first or the most.

But when our visions and goals are big and mighty enough - I mean right on the border of impossibility - they naturally encompass pretty much every aspect of our lives.

Even seemingly unrelated activities ultimately align to move us toward that big vision. Which ultimately makes it so much easier to discern what truly is important and what is not.

To quote, I believe former U.S. president Eisenhower, who said something like

I have two kinds of problems. The urgent and the important. The urgent ones are never important, and the important ones are never urgent.

When we are moving toward a big and mighty vision, we will have less time and be less interested in complaining about our present.

When a great vision pulls us, our minds become too occupied mapping out the way forward to focus on our “small” every-day problems.

So rather than having excess time to complain and bemoan what is, our lives are infused with the inspiration and excitement of moving toward our big dreams, as our focus is on how to move forward and what our lives will look like once we “arrive”.

This is not to belittle or deny that there are things in our present that we wish were different. We are simply too invested in building a better future to give our attention to what isn't working right now.

The Big Vision That Is Now Pulling Me

Here is the life-transforming vision I caught while listening to 10x Is Easier Than 2x.

This expanded vision of my future is still fresh and tender, and as a naturally private person, even thinking about sharing it gives rise to a visceral discomfort.

However, as sharing it publicly adds a level of accountability I know will serve me in a big way, I will go ahead and share it anyway.

For years, writing has been my quiet, hidden passion. I have lost count of how many books I have started, only to abandon them.

Writing has always come very easily to me, and I started this blog about a year ago to have an outlet for this passion.

For as long as I can remember, I've had a yearning and a calling toward writing, but I never really committed to it.

However, while re-listening to 10x last week, it suddenly hit me that to go 10x and accelerate the manifestation of the simple, peaceful, and quiet life, I need to pivot completely into becoming a professional writer.

For over a decade, I have been creating transformative audio and, more recently, video content, but it suddenly became clear that this is no longer the path forward.

Even though recording content largely lets me live unbound by time, it doesn't let me live unbound by place, because to reach the quality I want, I need a quiet place and all my recording equipment, which confines me to a studio-like space.

But with writing, there are no such limitations. All I need is my laptop—which travels with me everywhere anyway— offering me the freedom to work from anywhere, at any time.

When We Change Everything Begins To Change

This new, and for me, very expanded and somewhat scary shift, fits beautifully into the vision I have of my most beautiful life.

And having caught it, said yes to it, it is now completely changing the trajectory of my life.

It forces me to make a number of major changes in how I move through life, as well as in how I view myself.

There are things I have been doing up until now that I need to release and let go of, as they no longer move me toward a simple, peaceful, and quiet life.

Similarly, there are a number of things I previously haven't been doing that I now need to start doing.

I don’t have to do all of it at once, but saying yes to this vision requires me to become a completely different person than I would have become had I continued along my old path.

There Is Always A Next Level

This all beautifully speaks to how the purpose of all of life is to allow Spirit to come into ever greater and grander versions of itself in, as, and through each of us.

Or in other words, how we are on an eternal journey of unfolding, evolution, and ever-expansion.

No matter how far or great we may have become - there is always a next version, a next iteration of us.

A version that is dormant within us, just waiting for us to say yes to it, and allow it to awaken and begin to emerge.

The beautiful thing about this, and what I love about myself, is that we don’t need to know how to do it.

All that is required of us is that we say yes to it.

I actually have a rough draft of a future post called something like “Every Vision or Dream is a Divine Seed With a Life of its Own”.

In other words, every dream, vision, or goal has an intrinsic desire to come into its greatest expression, and the moment we commit to it, it will begin to root, shoot, and unfold.

It will guide, lead, and move us along the path toward its greatest expression.

So we don’t need to have it all figured out. Actually, we don’t even need to have anything figured out before saying yes.

But the moment we do say yes, the hows will begin to reveal themselves to us.

In that we can always trust.

I had an experience a few days ago.

I was with someone who was moving through a challenging space in their life, feeling overwhelmed and exhausted by navigating it.

During the time we hung out, they were constantly sighing, moaning, complaining, and bemoaning their life, and I found myself negatively affected by this.

While with them, I remember experiencing judgments about how they are currently handling their life. I also remember blaming them for pulling me down with them, for “making me feel miserable”.

I grew increasingly irritable and annoyed with who and where they were in that moment, thinking that they should know better than to complain about their life without doing anything about it.

Pretty soon, I was stewing in resentment, and all I wanted was to get as far away from them as possible.

And even more, I didn’t put much effort into hiding my negativity and animosity, as a way to get back at them for pestering my life and disturbing my peace of mind.

No-One, No-Thing Can Make Us Think Or Feel Anything…

All the while I told myself that I was absolutely justified to be angry and upset and behave in this way - I mean, who enjoys being around a complainer, right 😉.

But the thing is that each and every single one of us, in every single moment, are 100% responsible for our own experience.

We cannot always control what happens in our lives or in the world. We certainly cannot control what anyone else is doing or not doing. But we absolutely have the power to stand in our own authority.

Just as I unconsciously stayed hijacked by the sense of being a victim. Just as I chose to buy into, entertain, and even perpetuate my own judgments and complaints about their complaints, I could have just as well chosen compassion, understanding, and forgiveness.

Rather than turning my attention to all the things I thought they did wrong, I could have turned my attention toward grounding, centering, and anchoring myself in the nowness of this moment. Toward doing all I could to stay in a high vibration.

Only I didn’t.

They didn’t force me into the negativity I was experiencing. It was I who made the albeit unconscious choice to stay in the downward spiral of negative thoughts and emotions.

Everything is nothing until we make it something.

Nothing is ever good or bad, right or wrong, until we, by virtue of how we perceive it, how we interpret it, make it either good or bad, right or wrong.

No one outside of us is forcing us to think or feel anything, or to make any choice for that matter.

It is all us. We are the ones doing it.

We may not mean to do it. We may not even be aware that we are doing it. We may not be able to make another choice in the moment.

But, nonetheless, we are the ones doing it to ourselves. Not them. Not it. Us, only us. Always us.

Let’s take a moment here to reclaim our minds, to reclaim our sanity.

So I invite us to, for a brief moment, stop reading, stop whatever else we are doing, close our eyes, put a smile on our faces, and then take three deep, conscious breaths.

Breathing in… And release.

Breathing in… and release.

Breathing in … and release.

Now that we have grounded and centered ourselves in the nowness of this moment, having taken our minds back from being hijacked by thoughts and emotions, and reclaimed our attention, let us gently remind ourselves that:

• All is Well

• Something Wonderful is Always Happening

• Everything is Working For Our Highest Good

• Perfect Preparation and Unfolding are happening now, always, and forever

Heaven And Hell Are Nothing More Than States Of Consciousness

Being hijacked by mental stories about what should and should not be, judgments, resentments… these are all dimensions of hell.

Whenever we attach ourselves to such low vibration thoughtforms, whenever our consciousness contracts into lack, scarcity, and separation, we can be said to be in hell.

Hell is not ever a place outside of us. It is always and forever a state of consciousness. We put ourselves in Hell. We keep ourselves locked in Hell.

Nothing outside of us, no one else is doing it. We are the ones, consciously or unconsciously, choosing every single one of our hellish experiences, as we are 100% responsible for our own experience in every single moment.

Conversely, Heaven is also a state of consciousness. Whenever we are in joy, harmony, love, peace, balance, and abundance - we are in Heaven.

Once again, this has nothing to do with anything that is happening in the external world. It doesn’t even have anything to do with what is happening in our inner world.

We can have an experience of something, and the moment we become aware that we are being hijacked by a story, belief, or emotion, we set ourselves free to change our perception, our point of view, or perspective - thus creating a completely different experience.

It doesn’t necessarily mean the stories or emotions immediately dissolve, but as we are no longer attached to them, they no longer determine our experience.

Let Us Set Ourselves Free

So, freedom is not having everything be the way we want it to be.

But freedom is finding, sustaining, and expanding an inner sense of peace, joy, harmony, and wholeness - regardless of what is happening in the world around us.

It is staying in love, compassion, and forgiveness, regardless of what anyone else is doing or not doing.

While it is normal for us humans to look to the world to give us peace, harmony, and joy, if we want to live in the field of perpetual, ever-expanding peace, joy, and harmony, we need to realize that the world cannot give us any of these.

The world cannot set us free. Only we can set ourselves free.

And it all starts with the intention to be free. It all starts with the intention to move through life more and more untouched and unmoved by the external world.

This does not mean being indifferent or cold-hearted.

It simply means that we recognize and acknowledge that we have supremacy over our own minds and attention. And thus, in effect, our experience.

Just as I let myself remain hijacked by my judgments and opinions about the other individual. Had I become aware of being attached, I would have had the choice to come back to the breath, reclaim my mind, and turn my attention to that which had lifted my vibration and expanded my consciousness.

Let us have another moment of coming back to the nowness of this moment. Another moment of practicing breaking free from the stories and beliefs we may be hijacked by.

So let us once again close our eyes, put a smile on our faces, and take those three deep, conscious breaths.

Breathing in… and releasing.

And from this space of being fully here and now, let us again recognize that:

• All is Well

• Something Wonderful is Always Happening

• Everything is Working For Our Highest Good

• Perfect Preparation and Unfolding are happening now, always, and forever

It Is Simple, But Not Always Easy

Breaking free from being hijacked by the mind is this simple.

It is as simple as coming back to the nowness of this moment and then choosing to turn our attention away from what we don’t wish to experience to what we wish to experience.

It is simple, but not always easy. Actually, it is simple but rarely easy.

The ego loves hanging out in judgments and opinions. These feed and inflate a sense of being better than or superior to others.

But that it is difficult is no excuse for us not to do it. The first principle of transformation states: unless we change, nothing will ever change.

Sure, we can stay in the judgments and opinions. Sure, we can stay in complaining and bemoaning, putting on the victim suit, and placing blame on anyone or anything outside of us for our experience.

We can keep doing it for the rest of our lives, but doing so will not set us free. Doing so will place us at the eternal mercy of external conditions and circumstances.

Doing so means giving our God-given power to live, be, and move in ever-expanding peace, joy, harmony, and wholeness away to something outside of us.

It is our choice and our choice alone. No one can make it for us, and no one will really ever care if we make it or not.

Walking the Path of Freedom is not easy. It is difficult. It is hard work.

Taking full responsibility for ourselves is not something most of us learn growing up or in school.

But it is something we need to, and will want to, learn once the pain and negative effects of not doing it become too excruciating to ignore.

Or as Rev. Michael Bernard Beckwith so powerfully says:

“Pain pushes until a vision begins to pull”

Invitation And Empowering Questions

The invitation for us in this moment is to bring to mind a recent experience where we blamed another individual for our mental and emotional experience. Where we basically said to ourselves: “They make me think or feel this way. It is their fault. They are to blame”.

So we are invited to bring that into our minds, and then take full responsibility for that mental and emotional experience.

Let’s take an honest look at who and what it was that gave rise to our experience.

Let’s recognize that it was not what they did or did not do, what they said or did not say, but our own thoughts and opinions about what they did that opened up the gates to Hell.

An empowering question to augment this healing is:

How can I choose to stay in Peace, Love, or Joy?

As we ask this question, we need to be aware that the answer will never be about changing anything outside ourselves.

Having said that, obviously, if we are in immediate risk of being hurt or are in danger, we first need to remove ourselves from harm's way.

But what we are talking about here is freeing ourselves from the sense of being a victim of external conditions and circumstances.

So, the answer to the question will always be about us either releasing or letting go of our own small and limited thoughts, stories, beliefs, or habits, or about us cultivating a new way of being or moving through life.

And sometimes a combination of the two.

The point is that we are giving ourselves permission to be in ever-expanding peace, love, joy, harmony, wholeness, and abundance - regardless of what is happening in the world around us, and even in the world within us.

Honestly, learning to play this spiritual game of money is so much more difficult than I thought it would be.

When I set out on this journey to heal my relationship with money about six months ago, I thought that all I had to do was learn how to manage my money. To learn the mechanics of it, creating a budget, learning to save, and managing the numbers.

And yes, I have learned so much about managing money.

I have learned that there are basically four components to mastering the money game:

1. how much we make

2. how much we save

3. how much we invest

4. choosing to live well below our means

I have realized that financial freedom and independence are not so much about how much money we make as about what we do with it.

One person can earn millions, but if they spend it all, they are still living basically from paycheck to paycheck (which I have learned that many highly paid professionals do).

I have learned to save and invest my money in a very conscious and active way, and I have learned to take a good look at what I used to spend my money on, and have made some rather dramatic changes to cut down on our spending to have more money to save and invest.

So that part has been relatively easy, and I have truly loved (and still do) learning to actively and consciously play this game.

I repeatedly listen to books such as Ramit Sethi’s “I Will teach You To Be rich” and Tony Robbins's “Money, Master the Game,” and countless others, which teach the mechanics of managing money.

And as a result, my net worth is growing every single week, which I love, as I have never paid any attention to it before in my life.

How Wealthy People Think

But my money-healing journey is taking me even deeper than the mechanics of making, saving, and investing my money.

I am not only building a net worth that, at some point, will be large enough to financially provide for my family and me, but I am also transforming how money flows into my life.

Pushed and pulled by my intention to live a simple, peaceful, and quiet life - unbound by time and place, I am becoming aware of so many limited stories and beliefs about money and myself that I need to release and let go of.

There are in particular two books that I am leaning heavily on to help me on this journey.

The first one is called “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Ecker and the other one is called “How Rich People Think” by Steve Siebold.

Without exaggerating, I have probably listened to these two books about 100 times combined, and I am far from done.

These two books do not deal so much with the mechanics of managing money, but more with the mindset of wealthy people, who, I have learned, think about money and themselves very differently from those of us who are not wealthy.

As consciousness always precedes form, to become (and stay) wealthy, we need to learn to think and act in ways that allow wealth to flow into our lives.

I am not going to go into all the details of what these books teach, but if learning to heal your relationship with money at a deep level feels compelling to you, I invite you to give both these books a try.

Money is a Game, and Anyone Can Learn to Play it

Bottom line here, I am learning that money is a game and just like with any game - any one of us can learn how to play it.

This game of money has rules that we need to adhere to, but once we learn the rules and learn to play by them, we become more and more masterful at playing the game. And as the third principle of transformation teaches, when we begin to change, everything begins to change.

When we begin to think and act differently, the results in our lives will begin to shift and change.

Yes, it takes willingness to challenge our old beliefs. Like, I am challenging my linear belief that I need to trade my time for money.

It requires that we make the conscious choice to go for it. To start betting on ourselves rather than sitting around hoping or wishing for our lives to just magically change.

And yes, it requires that we step out of our comfort zones and begin to move through life more boldly.

Yes, it requires that we start taking 100% responsibility for our own lives and stop blaming external conditions and circumstances, or other people, for the way things are, for our level of financial freedom or abundance.

It requires that we start trusting that we are worthy of and deserve to live a life of financial freedom and independence. I am discovering that while I do feel that I am worthy of it, I didn’t think it was possible for me to live that life.

Sure, others can do it, but I have discovered that I genuinely believed that it was my lot in life to toil and stay in the rat race for all of eternity.

This story that it was impossible, or actually the exact wording for me was “this will not ever change”, was my biggest obstacle.

We have a Divine Mandate to Live the Most Beautiful Life We Can Ever Live

That story held me captive, shackled, and prevented me from going anywhere but in circles.

Even after I learned the mechanics of money, I still held on to the victim story that my life would never change when it came to money.

Yes, I did start paying attention to growing my net worth, but building net worth without leverage is a long-term game.

It doesn’t happen overnight, but we are talking decades of investing and letting the money compound.

It wasn’t until I consciously became aware of that disempowering story, created by years of working hard and seemingly not getting anywhere, that I was able to release and let it go and replace it with a new empowering story.

That it is possible. Others have done it before, so I can do it.

In all honesty, I have not completely released it yet. I still become aware of that draining thought every once in a while, but it is fading more and more, and I am paying less and less attention to it.

We all have a Divine Mandate to live the most beautiful life that we can ever live, whatever that means to us.

These are not just random, meaningless words. This is a spiritual principle, but as this principle can be difficult to intellectually understand, let’s break it down.

So we have this Benevolent Loving Presence, or God, or Universe, or Spirit, or Divine Matrix, or whatever we feel comfortable calling it.

Whatever we call it, it is all there is. Fully and evenly present in every space, place, being, moment, and object. It is in all things and all things are in it.

It is the One, it is the Whole.

Being all there is, it means that we are one with it. We are not separate from it, we are not a part of it. We are it.

Just like the wave is one with the ocean. The wave is not a part of the ocean, nor is it separate from the ocean.

Every wave is the ocean expressing itself in a unique, perfect, whole, and complete way.

In exactly the same way, we, every single one of us, are a unique, perfect, whole, and complete expression or emanation of Spirit.

Now, the purpose of all of life, the only purpose of life, is for God to express more of itself. To reveal more of itself. More of its love, joy, peace, harmony, wholeness, abundance, beauty, and creativity.

That is the only reason life exists.

And so, we have chosen to come here to this planet, at this time, to do just that. Reveal more and more and more of these divine qualities.

To forever allow for greater and grander expressions of who and what we are (which ultimately is who and what Spirit is) to come into manifestation.

Money is Good for Only Two Things

One of my earliest teachers Mr. Bob Proctor used to always say that money is good for only two things;

1. to make our lives comfortable. And we want to be comfortable. We want to have enough money so that we can live our lives doing what we want to do, whenever we want to do it, without needing to ask ourselves if we can afford it.

2. to allow us to extend our services. We all have gift, talents, and abilities that we are here to share with the world. And the more money we have the more we can focus on sharing these with the world in our own unique way.

So if we perhaps are buying into stories such as “Money is the root of all evil” or (as in my case) “Money is not spiritual”, we need to challenge these.

Money is not the root of all evil. It is the unconsciousness of people that is the root of all evil.

Money will only amplify what is already within. If we are greedy, stingy, and want to cause harm, money will allow us to be more of that.

If we are loving, giving, and generous, money will allow us to amplify those qualities.

And so it is not the money in and of itself that is causing harm, destruction, and separation, but it is the human consciousness that is the cause of all the bad things we see in the world.

As for money not being spiritual, it pretty much comes back to the same explanation: if we are spiritual, seeking to do good, to serve, and help heal the world, the more money we have, the more we can serve and help heal.

There is no virtue in being poor. Being wealthy is not a sin.

These are merely excuses that we can hide behind so that we don’t have to take full responsibility for our financial situation.

Brutal Honesty Is Required

As you are perhaps beginning to understand, we need to be brutally honest with ourselves about why our lives are the way they are.

There is never, ever any outside force, power, circumstance, or condition that is preventing us from changing our lives, including our financial situation.

It’s like Pogo said - “We have seen the enemy and he is us”.

The only thing that is ever to blame, if we need to blame anything, is the unconsciousness, the unawareness within us.

Yes, we may have stories and beliefs we feel are valid and justified, but they are nothing more than stories and beliefs we are buying into.

On my own journey, one of the hardest things for me to admit was that I knew pretty much nothing about managing money.

I mean, I have my own business, I have a family with two beautiful children. I am an adult, yet I have not learned how to handle money in a way that was sustainable or even responsible.

I always thought that if I only made more money, that would solve everything. But the more money I made, the more we spent, and I still was not “getting ahead”.

The first stage of healing is always awareness (accompanied by brutal honesty). We need to become aware of what is not working in our lives, and then be honest enough to see that we are the cause of that.

Then, and only then, can we begin to take responsibility and change our lives.

That is where it begins. That is where it has to begin. Always and forever, or there will be no healing of any kind.

Invitation And Empowering Questions

So the invitation for us, is to take a good and honest look at our life as it relates to money, and to ask ourselves: Am I perfectly happy with my financial life, or is there room/need for improvement?

If the answer is that there is room for improvement and expansion, then we are obviously invited to take 100% responsibility for it and start to make conscious choices that will inevitably move us in a new direction.

If you are ready to stop letting the story of “this will never change” run your life, make a conscious decision right now to start learning the rules of the game.

Asking that question on a regular basis forces the mind to start looking for solutions, ways out, and as whatever we focus on expands, new ways, opportunities, and possibilities will begin to reveal themselves.

They have to because it is the law.

Start Transforming Your Life Today

While fully understandable, as many of us have not been taught differently, looking at, and judging by appearances, is the fast track to insanity.

Spirit being all there is, fully and evenly present in every space, place, being, moment, and object, in any given moment, there is so much more going on than what our physical senses inform us.

In other words, we need to cultivate a higher seeing; we need to take on a higher perspective that allows us to see the bigger picture.

Join me as we explore the three pillars of trust, so that we may move through life in and with ever-expanding peace, joy, harmony, and wholeness. Regardless of any and all external conditions and circumstances.

As I have shared before, I am journeying through perhaps the most massive transformational space in my life so far.

There is such a tremendous rebirth happening in my life right now. Much of it revolves around how I relate to money and, subsequently, how I am living my life.

I have so many small and limited beliefs, stories, and ways of being and moving that need to be evolved for me to live that simple, peaceful, and quiet life - unbound by time and place that my heart, soul, and body are so longing for.

And as one of the principles of manifestation dictates, we can only have what we are willing to become.

Becoming A Spiritual Warrior

Earlier this year, I started recording a course called “The Way of the Spiritual Warrior - Learn to Become Unstoppable”.

I recorded about 30 sessions, but as life got too intense, I decided to hit pause on the production until there was more space in my life.

As with most of the content that flows through me, I started recording the course to guide and empower myself in becoming who I need to become to allow for the next version and iteration of my life to emerge.

As one of the principles of transformation states, if we want anything to change, we need to change.

And the first step in my becoming who I need to become was learning who I need to become, which is to become a Spiritual Warrior who is both unwavering and unstoppable.

A warrior is someone who conquers, right?

Traditionally, they conquer their enemies on the battlefield, but we are not here to conquer or defeat anyone or anything outside of us.

This has always been and will always be a journey within. Within our own minds and consciousness.

And so a Spiritual Warrior is someone who conquers themselves. It is someone who does not let the egoic voice of fear, worry, doubt, limited self-belief, or self-worth dictate their actions or how they live their lives.

This doesn’t mean that we never experience these thoughts, stories, and beliefs. The ego will always be there whispering, sometimes shouting, words of lack, scarcity, and separation.

It is constantly serving us all these excuses as to why we cannot do it, "Wait until you're ready. Wait until you have more money. Wait until the conditions are perfect. You are not enough of this. You are too much of that. "

Procrastination is nothing but the manifestation of fear. The ego is bound in time, constantly rehashing past experiences, projecting fears, worries, and doubts into the future, and complaining about the present.

But it knows nothing about the nowness of this moment.

A Spiritual Warrior is someone who keeps moving forward in spite of fear. It is someone who does not let that egoic voice, or any external condition and circumstance, stop them from moving forward toward their dreams, visions, and intentions.

This is, to me, what a Spiritual Warrior is, and this is who I need to become.

A Divine Mandate to Live Our Most Beautiful Life

The truth is that we all have a divine mandate to live the most beautiful life that we can ever live. Whatever that means to us as the unique, perfect whole and complete expressions of the Benevolent Loving Presence that we all are.

None of us has ever been given a “lot” in life, forcing us to live suffering and struggling. Yes, that may have been our experience for many years, maybe our whole lives.

But just because it may have always been that way, does not mean that it will always stay this way.

Every single possibility for each and every single one of our lives already exists in the infinite mind of Spirit.

Yes, every single possibility. Not a few. Not some. Not many. But every single possibility.

And the only thing that is ever preventing us from starting to live our most beautiful lives - is us. Or more precisely, the small and limited thoughts, beliefs, and stories that we buy into. About how it is not possible, about how we are not able to, about how we are not worthy of, and so on.

The Principles of Transformation

The principles of transformation I mentioned earlier are super clear. There are three of them:

1. If we want anything to change in our lives, we need to change

2. Unless we change, nothing is ever going to change

3. When we begin to change, everything begins to change

None of our lives is predetermined or predestined to be anything. We all have the power, and the responsibility, to consciously participate in the unfolding of our lives.

And the more we make choices that are in alignment with the good wish to experience, the more of that good we will experience.

It is that simple. Not saying that it is always easy, but it is still that simple.

The Two Things that Block Us the Most

The process of manifestation can be broken down into three simple stages:

1. a clear vision, dream, or intention

2. an inner belief that it is possible

3. consciously moving in the direction of that dream, vision, or intention (ie, taking daily inspired action).

I have said in the past that the thing that stops most of us in our tracks is that many of us don’t really have a clear vision, dream, or intention.

While that may be true, I have come to realize that the main reason so many people don’t have a clear vision or dream is that they don’t believe it is possible to reach them.

They either believe that they are not capable enough or that, for whatever reason, it is not otherwise possible to call the good they wish to experience into manifestation.

So they settle for where they are and what they have. They never get past the ego’s excuses and stay stuck in waiting and procrastination mode.

Becoming Unwavering and Unstoppable.

What we need to realize is, and this is where becoming Spiritual Warriors comes in, that we cannot let these small and limited stories and beliefs stop us.

No matter how seemingly real, valid, or justified they may feel.

I once heard someone say, “If we do only what is easy in life, life will always be hard”.

Breaking free from past conditioning, from who we used to be - this is hard work. No doubt about it.

The caterpillar literally needs to dissolve for the butterfly to emerge. If it could somehow wait and procrastinate in the cocoon, there would be no butterfly.

But the caterpillar does not wait until it feels ready. It does not delay until the conditions seem just right.

It does what it needs to do so that the butterfly may come into being.

As the first principle of transformation reminds us, unless we change, nothing is ever going to change.

But so many of us are so used to judging by appearances, by what our physical senses inform us, that unless we see how something can be done, we conclude that it cannot be done.

We need to realize that manifestation, and especially when allowing great things to demonstrate themselves, is like a long journey.

It is impossible for us to foresee every step of the journey. At any point, we see only a few steps ahead.

But just because we cannot see it, doesn’t mean that it cannot be done. And so, if we want to live our most beautiful life, we cannot let the unknown stop us.

Are We Willing Enough?

Which brings us to one extremely important question. How much do we want to call the good we wish to experience into manifestation?

How willing are we to do everything and all that is required of us to become who we need to become?

How willing are we to release and let go of past beliefs, stories, and habits, to allow for the manifestation to happen?

Are we truly willing to change?

If our answer to these questions is a lukewarm, “well, I guess”, then that is not enough.

We need to really, really want to become unwavering and unstoppable to truly ever become unwavering and unstoppable.

In other words, we need to be open and honest with ourselves about our willingness.

If we are not truly willing, then we are wise to find another vision, goal, or dream to pursue.

This is by no means a failure; it is simply a refinement of our motivation.

Invitation And Empowering Question

And so the invitation for us at this point is quite simple.

Let’s map out the next 3-5 moves that will move us even closer to the full realization of our dream, vision, or intention.

If we become aware of excuses as to why this is not the time, why we are not ready, why we cannot do it, let’s recognize these for what they are, egoic stories birthed out of fear, and get moving anyway.

While most people lead with “why “ they cannot; let’s make the conscious choice to lead with “How can I…?”

If we ask that question on a regular basis, the way forward will begin to reveal itself for the simple reason that we are now looking for it.

In other words, the question is not whether or not it is happening, but the question is at what level we are consciously or unconsciously participating in the unfolding.

When we move toward our dreams and visions with a sense of inspiration, trust, and joy, then we are in vibrational alignment with them. Thereby allowing them to manifest with ease and grace.

But when we are moving with a sense of doubt, urgency, or fear, while our dreams and visions are still manifesting, by virtue of where we are in consciousness, we are in effect delaying and obstructing the manifestation.

Happy Monday to you ✨

I trust that all is well with you, wherever and whenever you are.

Consciousness always precedes form - it can be no other way.

It has to do with the vibration we are emitting, thus what the Sacred Laws correspond to.

If we are emitting a vibration of lack, scarcity, and separation, the Sacred Laws cannot help but reflect and manifest the substance of that vibration back into our lives.

On the other hand, if we are emitting a vibration of abundance and opulence, that is what the Universal Laws will reflect back to us.

Nothing too complicated about these principles, right?

And yet, while it is simple, living it is often far from easy.

In other words, running from something is diametrically opposed to moving toward something.

It may seem semantic, like a childish play with words. However, it really and truly is not.

The former is about us resisting something that is, desperately trying to get away from it.

There is a sense of separation between us and the good we wish to experience. It is not here. It is missing. It is lacking.

The latter is us being more in tune with our visions and dreams. We are not trying to get away from something, but we are inspired to participate in the unfolding of these.

The former affirms the separation, the lack, and the scarcity of the good we wish to experience, thus delaying and obstructing its manifestation.

The latter affirms the done-ness of that good, thereby allowing the demonstration of it to happen with ease and grace.

In my experience, moving toward goals and visions is often a combination of the two. Like balancing them on a scale, where they take turns being more predominant than the other.

Pushed into the extreme

A few days ago, I woke up to the realization that my scale had almost completely tipped over toward running from, rather than moving toward.

I remember writing in my journal that I felt like a drowning man, desperate for air.

I was aware of experiencing shame and embarrassment about caring more about what the world needed to bring me, rather than how I could serve the world.

I felt selfish and even non-spiritual, more concerned with my own life and the challenges I face than with the lives of others who have far greater challenges than I do.

Almost to the point where I felt that I didn’t care about anything else in the world.

Obviously, we are all entitled to our own experiences, and there is nothing spiritual about bypassing them by invalidating them in any way, shape, or form.

But, we are also always wise to seek to take on multiple perspectives at once.

Now, just to give a brief background to this. Bottom line, I have been working way too much for way too long.

For way too long, I have traded too much of my time for money, partly out of the joy and inspiration of being of service as well as consciously participating in the unfolding of my life.

But partly, and sometimes overwhelmingly so, out of necessity, though I will not go into the details about that here.

The last remnants of the old

For the last six months, I have worked 10-13-hour days, close to 7 days a week, both freelancing as a consultant and rebuilding my own business.

I have never worked as much in my entire life.

Nor can I remember ever feeling as exhausted and depleted in my entire life (except for doing the mandatory Swedish military service when I was 18, where we were forced to stay awake for more than 24 hours straight while performing physically challenging exercises and drills).

I am building something brand new, and while I am not, by any means, the first person in the world to build a business model based purely on passive income, I don’t know of anyone who has done it, so, in a sense, I am inventing a brand-new wheel.

Transformation is messy

Since I woke up with the experience of drowning, desperately trying to get away from that life, I have gained a healing perspective.

Transformation is always messy, and the greater the transformation, the messier it becomes.

The caterpillar literally dissolves, ceases to exist, to allow for the butterfly to emerge. If it wasn’t, the transformation wouldn’t be as magnificent.

I know I have said before that this is probably the most transformative space I have ever moved through.

I am breaking the shackles of generations trading their time for money, generations living in the experience of lack, scarcity, and limitations.

But not only that, I am leaving the old me behind, the one who didn’t know how to manage money. The one who didn’t think it was possible to live a life of financial freedom and independence (though he always secretly dreamed and wished for it). The one who wanted to hide behind excuses to continue to play small.

Yes, on the surface, this is about me learning to play the money game in such a way that money comes to me as easily and effortlessly as breathing.

But as we can only call forth what we are willing to become - or as the statement goes God can only do for us what we give Spirit permission to do through us - unless we become the fertile soil, the seed (dream, vision, intention, goal) will not ever reach its fullest potential.

So, while we may have dreams, visions, and goals, it is not so much about us reaching them as it is about us becoming who we need to become to allow them to come into manifestation.

I have so many limited thoughts, beliefs, stories, and habits that I need to release and let go of for the unfolding of this new iteration of me and my life to emerge.

And of course, this is messy. It is a major rebirth that is happening.

I bless the mess

And so armed with this change of perception, from feeling only depleted, exhausted, and overwhelmed, to being able to see the bigger picture, I can truly say that I am grateful for this experience.

I am not grateful for every single aspect and facet of it, but I am grateful for the experience as a whole, as I know that All is Well, that Something Wonderful truly is Happening, that Everything (even this) is Working for my Highest Good, and that Perfect Preparation and Unfolding is Happening.

If it hadn’t been for this experience of needing to work “too much” for “too long”, I probably wouldn’t have been as committed and determined to call forth a different kind of life.

Had I been humming along a lukewarm life, I would most likely not have felt the deep inner need to change the trajectory of my life.

And I am not only doing this for myself. Yes, absolutely, I am doing it for me, but I know that this goes beyond me - or I wouldn’t have been pushed onto this path.

So thank you, Spirit, for moving me into and through this space, that I may emerge on the other side and serve at an even higher capacity.

Invitation

And this is the invitation for all of us. Challenges are inevitable, but we all get to choose our own perspective.

We can choose to become victims, looking for who and what to blame for whatever conditions and circumstances we experience in life.

Or, we can stop and ask empowering questions such as: What good is here that I presently cannot see?

Every single challenge is nothing but a gift and a blessing of transformation and when we sincerely seek to see that good, it will always reveal itself to us. That we may learn our lesson and graduate to the next level.

What Good Is Here That I Presently Cannot See?

Such a powerful question to ask. And we are wise to incorporate it into our habitual way of life.

Spirit is benevolent, eternally seeking to come into ever greater and grander expressions in, as, and through each of us.

And the only way for Spirit to do so, is for us to continually allow for the next great and grand version of who and what we are.

Which means that we need to over and over again, release and let go of who we used to be, of the small and limited stories, beliefs, and perceptions we used to hold.

Happy Sunday to you ✨

Before letting the fingers hit the keys to write this post, I just had to check when I wrote my last post. It was published on February 8, which is more than six months ago.

Time truly flies when having fun is an expression we use here in Sweden, and although I cannot honestly say these last six months have been all pure joy and laughter, I am tremendously grateful for the perfect unfolding that has happened (and continues to happen) since that last post.

At the beginning of this year, I set out on what most likely is the most profound transformational journey I have ever been on - at least in terms of how I move through life.

For a number of years, I have had the intention of living a simple, peaceful, and quiet life - unbound by time or place.

But for a long time, I didn’t know what that meant. It wasn’t until we got to spend that wonderful year in Spain a couple of years ago, when I didn’t have to work at all, that I truly understood what my heart had yearned for for so long.

It wasn’t until then that the intention to live that life turned into a vision that has since become a mission of sorts.

So I am now on a journey to free myself from time and place obligations and boundaries, so that I may be the master over my own time.

Or to put it in another way, I am transitioning from a time-for-money business model to a passive-income way of life.

Manifestation is a winding road - never a straight line

This was a journey that really started many years ago; I just didn’t know I was on it until early this year after having had that experience of not needing to work for a whole year.

As it always is with the manifestation and demonstration of dreams and visions, the path has taken me in a direction far beyond anything I could have even begun to imagine when I first set out on this journey.

But more about that in later posts, as I think that this post will be more about just me finding my way back to this blog.

I have truly missed being here. I have missed this space, but I have not had the time nor the energy to post anything.

And to be completely honest and transparent, which is my intention with this blog - over the course of these last six months, I had actually even forgotten that this blog even existed.

I have been so absorbed and caught up in rebuilding my life and business that creating any kind of content has been so far from my mind these last six years that I forgot all about this blog.

It wasn’t until two days ago that I heard someone speak about their blog that I remembered it. And once I did remember it, I felt an immediate pull toward it.

Perfect Preparation and Unfolding are always happening

And this so beautifully speaks to the perfect timing of the Spirit.

How Spirit is eternally expressing itself perfectly and how perfect preparation and unfolding are always happening - in ways beyond anything we could ever fathom or comprehend. Let alone perceive.

So, for the last five or six months, I have been deep in rebuilding my business.

That building stage literally ended 2-3 days ago, and I am now entering the next stage; the outreach/distribution stage. To actually let people know about what I have to offer.

Or to put it plainly, the marketing and promotion stage is now beginning.

So on the day that the building stage was officially closed and the promotion stage began, I was guided back to this blog, which I yesterday realized will be the hub of the promotional wheel that I am now setting in motion.

I don’t have it all figured out yet, but I promise that I will not use this blog to spam you with offers, deals, or anything like that.

The purpose of this blog remains the same: to be a raw, honest, and transparent sharing of my journey. And that purpose will never change.

But it does mean that I will be more regular in my posting, and I will be creating different kinds of posts, written like this one, but also video posts that, once published, will be distributed into various other channels, as a part of a marketing game plan.

I don’t mean to get technical. The details are not relevant to what I am trying to convey here.

I am just blown away by the perfect unfolding that is happening. How we are always guided, moved, and led. How we are eternally sourced, fueled, and funded in such a beautiful way.

Even when we cannot see it, even when we don’t believe it.

Trust and Surrender to that which is already happening

When I first started this blog about a year or so ago, not in a million years, could I have imagined that it would become the center of my business. And how perfect that on the very day that it was needed for me to move to the next stage, I was reminded of it.

I mean, we cannot make this stuff up. I could not have planned this, and I don’t take credit for it either.

It is just one (of so many) examples in my life of how Spirit is beautifully moving me in the direction of my intentions and visions, even when I don’t know what the heck I am doing.

And this is the big takeaway - we don’t ever need to know how to do anything.

All we need is to be clear on what we want (although we are wise to surrender that too), say yes to it, and then start moving in the direction of it - One Step At A time.

Two years ago - almost to the day, as we arrived in Spain in mid July 2024, I didn’t even know what it meant to live a simple, peaceful, and quiet life - unbound by time and place.

One year ago, upon coming back to Sweden and finding myself back in the super intense life of trading much of my time for money, I had no idea how to get out of it.

Six months ago, when we had settled in enough for me to consciously and actively start moving toward being unbound by time and place, I didn’t have the faintest idea of where to start - let alone how to achieve it.

I mean, I have had passive income for many years, but it has never been consistent or reliable enough to build a business around it. Let alone fund the life of my family and me.

Now, the heavy lifting of building a solid, sustainable engine that is close to 100% automated is complete.

And I am ready for the next stage.

And all of this out of nothing more than a vision, a determination, and discipline.

My Beautiful Life

God truly is benevolent, and we all truly have a mandate to live our most beautiful lives. But 1) we need to design it. 2) We need to give ourselves permission to live that life.

And 3) we need to consciously and actively move in the direction of it. Every single day, to the best of our ability.

It is that simple, but it is far from always easy.

Having spent that year in Spain, living in a warm and peaceful place like that is now a part of the Beautiful Life I am moving toward.

Enjoying the financial freedom and independence to not have to work unless I choose to, and then only doing what I absolutely love, that is also a part of my Beautiful Life.

There is obviously more to that Beautiful Life, but that is perhaps for another time.

I know that the version of me who is living that life already exists in the infinite mind.

And as these last couple of years have so beautifully and powerfully demonstrated, I don’t need to figure out how to “get there”.

All that is required of me is to keep moving toward it. Listen to that still small voice of intuition, obey it, and do what needs to be done to continue to move forward.

God, Spirit, Life, the Universe, whatever, will handle the rest.

I am so grateful for the journey that is my life. I am so grateful for this space, and for you tuning in to walk this path of freedom with me.

I was talking to a dear friend the other day, and as we are both on a journey to heal our relationship with money from time to time, during our conversation, that particular topic came up.

As we were talking back and forth about what we were learning, what we were doing, and what books we were reading in terms of this healing, after a while, I realized that we were both making it much more difficult than it had to be.

Both of us had so many spiritual stories around money and its meaning,” what money is”, “are we worthy of it”, “is money good or bad”, and so on, that make the healing trek feel almost like a trek through the deep undergrowth of the deep Amazon jungle.

Now, I have never been to the Amazon, but I can imagine that, unless we are walking along already trodden paths, walking through the jungle is no walk in the park. It is hard work, that perhaps even requires a heavy and sharp machete or something to cut through the vines, and whatnot.

But if we could find one of those trodden paths, the trek would be so much more enjoyable.

And as I was listening to us talk back and forth, I realized that this is exactly what we were doing.

We were trying to cut through the dense fog of spiritual stories, when we can actually take spirituality out of the equation altogether.

Not Everything has to be About Spirituality

We celebrated our daughter's birthday yesterday, and she and I made these chocolate ship cookies that she wanted.

She has made these a few times before, but I, myself had never made them. So we got out the recipie and followed that formula to the letter - to the best of our ability.

We mixed got all the ingredients out, we mixed them together, we turned the oven on and made the little brown balls that would eventually melt into cookies.

And an hour later, we had a beautiful looking (however not as flat as on the images) awesomely smelling, and very tasty batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Nowhere during the making of these did I stop to consider whether we could do it, whether we are worthy of it, if making cookies were spiritual enough, or if I, as a spiritual being, could or was allowed to make and have them.

There were no stories attached to these cookies or us making or eating them. It was pure, and it was fun.

This is just one example of countless of things we have either learned or are currently learn where we leave spirituality out of it.

I am not saying that we are not to go deeper into our spiritual realizations and insights so that we may shine, glow, and soar beyond anything we have ever imagined before.

But I am suggesting (and learning to apply in my own life) to not take the spiritual path so darn seriously.

Money Is A Game. It has a Language of its Own.

I was actually texting with another friend not too long ago. It has been some time since we last talked and where we used to stay in very close touch a few years ago, our paths have sort of moved us in different directions.

They texted me and asked me how I was doing. I gave a rather short response about how I was doing well and about what I was doing in life.

When I asked how they were doing, they said something to the effect that they were having deeper realizations about themselves on their inner journey.

As I contemplated our rather different responses, I remembered a time in my life when I took everything so seriously. When every aspect, every facet, every nuance of my life was held under a spiritual microscope, where it had to be scrutinized and dissected.

And now, in recent years, I take life more and more in stride. Except for this healing of my relationship with money.

I think many of us who are walking this spiritual path have a tendency to over-complicate things. We want to make everything about spirituality when, in truth, while we absolutely are wise to have a solid spiritual foundation, not everything has to be seen through the lens of spirituality.

Money is a game.

There are clear rules and principles we need to learn to play by. These aren’t overly complicated; they are simple enough that any one of us can learn them.

And yes, there are stories, beliefs and past conditioning around money that we need to become aware of and then release and let go as with all healing.

Money has a language of its own. But unlike many other languages, the language of money is not filled with subtle nuances and unwritten grammatical rules.

When We Begin To Change, Everything Begins to Change

I am not yet rich. I don’t yet have the financial freedom and independence I am moving towards.

But my networth has grown significantly in these last few months, and it continuous to grow every single week.

And in talking to my friend and also from contemplating it since, I have realized that what has made the biggest difference in this almost miraculous healing has not been me dissecting and analyzing the spiritual narratives, the stories and beliefs I held about money and my worth.

But, by far, the most important factor for me, has been playing the game differently.

The moment I realized how much money I make is not the only factor in the money equation, not even the most important one, but that it is actually more important how I steward the money that comes into my life.

The moment I turned my attention away from trying to figure out how to make more money and started to consciously and intentionally steward the money I had, in that moment, everything began to change in my life.

And the beauty of it all, is that I could actually shift my behavior without doing the inner work of releasing and letting go of the stories I had bought into around money.

Money is a game, and when we learn the rules and are disciplined enough to consistently play by them, everything begins to change.

As decreed by the principles of transformation.

Just us beginning to play the money game a little bit differently, more intentionally, more consciously, will make all the difference in the world.

Regardless of whether or not we believe we are worthy of it, or if money is good or bad.

May we all be Happy, Healthy, Rich And Wealthy beyond our Wildest dreams.

Abundant Saturday To Us All ✨✨

You know the saying, “the more we know, the more we realize how little we know”.

As I continue my intensive and almost obsessive study of the rules of the money game, listening to books and implementing what I learn, the more I realize how little I truly knew about this wonderful game.

And while I am grateful and feel blessed that I now get to heal generations of troubled and more or less unhealthy relationships with money, I am also experiencing shame, guilt, and even anger that it took me almost 50 years to even realize that there is such a thing as a relationship with money - that no one told me about this when I was a small child.

After all, whether we admit it or not, whether we like it or not, our relationship with money is one of the most important relationships we will ever have.

And yet, so few of us ever talk about it, let alone consciously learn to tend and nurture this relationship.

Which is why I have created this series in the first place. I want to heal my relationship with money and to allow for a new kind of life, for myself, my family, and others along the way to be midwifed.

A life where money is of no concern, a life of financial freedom and independence.

My Past Relationship with Money

Growing up, we never talked about money in my family. I don’t think that it was out of shame or anything; it was just not a subject ever discussed.

We weren’t poor, nor did we live an extravagant life. I guess we were your everyday middle-class family.

However, I do remember my friends sometimes pointing out that I was spoiled as I got pretty much everything I wanted in terms of toys, clothes and so on.

Of course, being the only child meant that I received the undivided attention from my mom and relatives.

Money was never an issue for us, and so I guess I grew up just taking it for granted. And growing up, I never had any difficulties with money. I have always had plenty enough of it.

Money has always sort of flowed naturally into my life. I mean, I have never been wealthy, but I have never been poor either.

I have never been a frivolous spender, nor have I ever been overly frugal. I have always, even when I wasn’t thinking about it, sort of equated money with freedom rather than as a source of immediate pleasure and satisfaction.

To me, having that freedom to travel and take time off whenever I wanted it was more important than spending all of it as fast as it came.

But even so, I never really consciously thought about managing money, even in my early adult years. As I always had enough of it, I never really thought about stewarding it.

Until I did.

Where I Am Coming From

My wife and I met in our early thirties, and it is very clear that our paths crossed to help us both heal our relationship with money.

Almost from the very first day, money has been an issue in our lives. We both had almost polar opposite stories about money. Where I thought of money as a means to freedom, that it should be saved for future rewards, my wife thought of it as a means of instant pleasure.

And as none of us had really learned to talk about money in a healthy way, we didn’t talk much about it - except for when we were fighting about it.

I’d get angry with her for spending the money that came in, and she would be angry with me for wanting to save it for some future moment.

And this went on and on and on. And to be honest, money has, hands down, been the single most frequent thing we have fought about.

That we had these diametrically opposed ideas of what money was and what it was meant to do has led to countless arguments and fights over the years.

And even if we initially weren’t emotionally involved when having conversations about money, we would almost always end up either outright arguing or at least passively and silently angry with each other.

And we never got anywhere, for the simple reason that whenever we talked (argued) about money, we never spoke the same language.

In our family, I have always been the main breadwinner, first as an employee for a couple of years, and then as a business owner.

And as with so many others, as none of us had learned to consciously manage or steward money, when my business grew, and more money came in, the more we upgraded our lifestyle.

And the higher our lifestyle, the more I felt pressured to bring in more money.

As I was (and still am) trading my time for money, and I have always had a solo business, meaning I don’t have any employees, but it has just been me, I eventually hit a cap on how much money I could bring in.

Sure, I have some passive income streams (that actually allowed me to take a year off last year), but they were not by any means close enough to support our way of life.

There have been many times when I have felt that I was a slave to money. When I felt forced to take on contracts and gigs that I didn’t enjoy, and that did not allow me to serve in the way I feel is my Dharma to serve.

There has been much anger and resentment within me that I have had to let go of, but as there is but One Benevolent Loving Presence that is always for itself, today I am grateful for this experience, as it has now moved me into a space and place I may not have been moved into if my life had gone another way.

My Reason and Motivation To Learn To Play The Money Game

Which brings me to my almost burning obsession with now, not only healing my relationship with money, but to learn to play this game.

Because, as we have talked about before, financial well-being is not about how much money we make.

The more money I made, the more we spent, and while we were able to uplevel our lifestyle, making money did not “buy” me more freedom. Rather, the opposite.

So, in this game, making money is merely one part of the equation. Even more important is how we steward the money we make.

We used to spend close to every cent that came in, and it brought us to a place where my whole being is now saying No More.

I cannot keep working this way anymore. I cannot keep trading my time for money. I cannot keep working for money. But I need to find a way where money is working for me.

Not to say that I will stop working. I will probably never stop working for as long as I breathe, but I need to find a way where I am not working for money, but for the sheer joy of it.

So, thank you, God, for designing this path for me. Thank you for the challenges I have faced that have brought me to the place where something absolutely has to change.

Thank you that I, out of sheer necessity, now have to transform my relationship with and learn this game of money.

Not only for myself, but perhaps even more so for my son, who, being highly sensitive, will not be able to take on a regular nine-to-five job.

He needs to find another way, and while he absolutely needs to find it on his own, I am grateful that I get to pave a way, that I get stand as an example of what is possible.

All is Well, and Everything is working for our Highest Good.

All this to say that I am grateful for who and where I am. I am grateful that I get to learn this wonderful game.

Yes, I am sometimes hijacked by egoic stories about how I should have reached this pivoting moment years ago, but I choose to trust that the timing for this is perfect - even when I don’t have the full picture of why now is perfect.

All I know is that I am now perfectly positioned to learn this game and to heal my relationship with money. To transcend my notion and habitual way of thinking about money as a means to an end, to money being a symbiotic partner that I need to cherish, acknowledge, and appreciate, as well as learn to tend to and steward.

There is but One Mind, expressing itself in, as, and through all of creation, including money. So in that sense, as energy is all there is, there is no more separation between money and any one of us, as between other humans and us, or the animal or plant kingdom, or Mother Earth.

There is only One, and everything is It.

Happy Friday to us all

I ask you to bear with me in this post, as these are my musings around money and this game that we are learning to play.

I just caught something this morning that I need to explore, and as we are playing this game together, I thought that rather than me exploring it by myself in my journal, we could share this exploration together.

To be honest, though, I am actually experiencing slight embarrassment about sharing these contemplations, but as it provides the framework for the spiritual aspects of this game, I will do so anyway.

If you think I am weird or even crazy, so be it 😉

On Friday morning, as the kids were leaving for school, I had just put the finishing touches on the last money post, about the two-million-dollar question, when I realized that I, in that post, had used the phrase “we need to be good stewards of money”.

When typing those words, I didn’t think much of it other than that I liked the sound of them, but as the kids were leaving and I was emptying the dishwasher, I was pulled into a deep and profound philosophical exploration of money and its meaning.

Of how I perceive and think of it.

A Life and a Purpose of Its Own

Once the kids had left and I could fully dive into this inner journey, as I was absently emptying the dishwasher, I was reminded of the purpose of all of life.

I was reminded that all of creation, all of life, exists for the sole purpose that God may come into ever greater and grander expressions in, as, and through all of Life.

And I became aware that as God, this benevolent, loving presence, is fully and evenly present everywhere, it means that money is not some cold, lifeless thing. But in a sense, it is a living entity with a life and a purpose of its own.

And that life and purpose is no different from the life and purpose of all of creation. It is no different from the life and purpose of a tree, or a flower, or the ocean, or a planet or any one of us.

It’s life and purpose are about allowing Spirit to come into its greatest and grandest expression in, as, and through it.

Just like a flower’s purpose is to become the most radiant expression of itself.

Just like a dream or a vision’s purpose is to unfold into the most magnificent realizations of itself.

Just like our purpose, yours and mine, is to live the most beautiful life as the most shiny, radiant, and luminous beings we can ever live and be.

From Managing to Stewarding Money

And from this higher vantage point, I was able to see that talking about managing money is not a vocabulary that serves this game.

We don’t manage our pets. We don’t manage our friends or loved ones. We don’t manage our gardens.

We tend to them. We are stewards of their well-being.

If money is a living thing, with the sole purpose of allowing spirit to come into ever greater and grander expression through it, through its use, then it is my and our charge to tend to it, to steward it that it may amplify and magnify as much as possible.

Just as a gardener tends to the garden, so that it may grow and unfold into ever-more beautiful and magnificent expressions of itself.

So, are we being charged with tending to and stewarding the money we have, that it may multiply and magnify, and ultimately do more good for humanity and the planet?

A Mutual Symbiotic Relationship

In that sense, money is not a means to an end any more than a friendship or a relationship, or a garden is the means to an end.

We have these to cultivate even deeper meanings, to express more, to experience more.

And the same it is with money.

In other words, just as we need money to express more and more of ourselves and to do more and more good for others and the world, so does money need us to express itself.

Money, just like any seed, wants to come into its greatest expression. And it needs us to do so.

We truly have a highly mutual and symbiotic relationship with money, and the more we realize that this is so, the easier it will be, not only for money to flow into our lives, but also be circulated.

Not in excess to drive us into debt or eat up our net worth, because conscious stewardship is not only about spending, but it is also about being very mindful and conscious of the numbers (how much we make, how much we save, and how much we invest).

So that the money we make may be multiplied and magnified, and, in some future moment, allow us to live an even more beautiful life, and do even more good for others.

As with all healing and transformation, this all begins with us becoming aware of where we are and who we are in this moment, so that we may begin to make higher and higher choices that are in alignment with the good we wish to experience.

Happy Wednesday to us all 💜✨

As we are diving even deeper into the theme of this month, which is Practicing the Presence, and as I myself am being moved through a very expansive space where the mind is racing, and there is a whole lot of doing happening, I want to take this opportunity to remind myself and all of us that Practicing the Presence is so much more than just meditating.

If we want to remain and sustain our sanity. We need to cultivate a daily and habitual practice of coming back to the nowness of this moment on a very regular and consistent basis.

Meditation is beautiful, and it is a very powerful practice.

But, and it is a very big but, if we rely on meditation alone, and forget about anchoring and centering ourselves in the eternal now, the rest of the day, we will be in trouble.

If we go too long without resetting, the egoic mind will begin to take over. Whether or not it leans toward doom and gloom or something else, we will begin to turn into those mindless reactionary drones that we are working so hard to transcend.

True, we will probably be better off than someone who is not meditating, but, as the name so powerfully states, Practicing the Presence is about practicing to be present throughout our days.

Presence is a Muscle that Needs Regular Exersice

Presence is like a muscle; I actually often call it the Presence Muscle, and just like any muscle that we want to build and strengthen, it needs regular and consistent exercise.

Unless we use it, it will begin to atrophy.

Our sanity depends on us coming back to the now and beginning again, over and over and over again.

Once a day is good, but not good enough. Twice a day is good but not good enough.

We don’t just breathe once and then hold our breath until we pass out from oxygen deprivation, right?

We don’t just blink once and then hold our eyelids open until our eyes dry out.

No, we breathe and blink on a very regular and consistent basis, and in exactly the same way do we need to cultivate a presence practice that helps us stay as grounded and centered in the nowness of this moment as possible.

And the more we exercise it, the stronger the presence muscle gets. The stronger it gets, the more reaction-resistant it becomes.

In other words, the more grounded, centered, and anchored we are in the nowness of this moment, the less reactionary we become. And the more responsible we become.

The word responsible actually means the ability to respond (as opposed to react).

Two Powerful Practices

So how do we cultivate this presence practice, allowing us to stay ever more sane and responsible?

Obviously, there are many tools and practices we can lean into, but there are two in particular that I lean into the most that I want to share with you.

If you have listened to any of my talks catering to the pillar of Practicing the Presence, you have probably heard me talk about both of these before, but if not, here we go.

But before we go into these, I just want to say that what I love about them both is that they are soo simple. Both can be used at any time and anywhere. They don’t require any preparation or any particular setting or environment.

Our Moments In Between

So we all have what I call our moments in between. These are all those moments when we are not occupied doing anything that requires our full attention.

Moments when we can partly turn our attention away from what we are doing without causing harm, injury or damage.

• Taking a walk is such a moment in between.

• Doing dishes or laundry are moments in between

• Cooking is a moment in between

• Going to the bathroom is a moment in between

• Driving can be such a moment in between

• watching TV can be a moment in between

• Standing in line or waiting for someone are moments in between.

• For the advanced practitioner, talking to someone, either in real life or on the phone or Zoom or whatever, can be a moment in between

These are only a few of these wonderful moments, and they all offer a beautiful opportunity for us to practice the presence.

All we need to do is to turn part of our attention from whatever we are doing and place it on our breaths, as we perhaps would do in meditation.

As I am writing these words, I am present with my breath. Simply witnessing and observing how the chest rises and falls, how the air flows in and out.

And what happens is that by being with the breath, we allow for a space between us and that mental activity to open up.

Which in turn allows us to be witnesses and observers of whatever is going on in our mental (and emotional) bodies, rather than being hijacked by it.

If you try this and find it challenging to keep your attention on the breath, please be patient, loving, and kind with yourself.

You are strengthening the presence muscle, and if it is not yet strong enough, it takes time for it to grow stronger.

But just as with any muscle, the more we practice, the easier it gets.

Oops!!

This is where I had planned on sharing the second exercise, the one actually called Practicing the Presence, but as I am already close to the length limit of this post, I will need to share more about that practice another time.

Invitation

Our invitation in this now moment is like a two-stage rocket: The first stage is for us to identify 5-10 such daily recurring moments in between in our everyday lives.

Let’s jot these down on a piece of paper in no particular order.

The second stage is for us to pick 2-3 such moments to begin with, and then set the intention to use them to practice the presence. And to do it as often as we can remember.

So that we, just like the trees, may stay deeply anchored, centered, and grounded in the nowness of this moment, regardless of what happens around us and within us.
